Hours passed and night came, I wake up to a phone ringing. Groggily opening my eyes, I see Andrei coming to pick up his phone from his bag. BT21 Tata Face Cloth and Makeup Wipe Set

This set is inspired by Tata of the BT21 gang. As per usual, these instructions haven’t been beta tested, so there is a chance of mistakes.

Blueberry (1 ball)

4.25mm crochet hook

Fabric paint (optional)

Gauge

Using a 4.25mm hook:

The heart wipes are 6.5 x 6.5 cm (widest part x point to bump)

The round wipes are 5cm across

I naturally have loose tension so my stitches are probably a bit larger than average, so a larger hook may be needed if your tension is on the stronger side.

Abbreviations

ch = chain

sc = single crochet

sl st = slip stitch

dc = double crochet

hdc = half-double crochet

Tc = treble crochet

sc2tog = single crochet 2 stitches together

2sc = 2 single crochets in the next stitch

Sc # = single crochet in the next # of stitches

Tata’s face 

Tata’s face is basically a triangle built up from the bottom, carrying yarn for the mouth, and then adding 2 bumps to the top to make a heart. If you’re not comfortable using multiple colours at once, ignore the colour changes in steps 3-5 and instead paint the mouth on after with fabric paint.

Make 6 dcs into the edge half way down the side. Slip into the corner. Make 6 dcs into the stitch half way down the next side. Slip into the corner. Tie off and weave in ends.

I made some smaller hearts (6 chains making 5 stitches/row, 5 rows, 5 double crochets for the bumps) and they’re really cute...may have to make more this size because of the cute

Mesh Bag 1

It’s a square bag crocheted in the round. The first row might take a couple reads to make sense (I swear it made sense in my head): you’re crocheting on both sides of the foundation chain, in the same chains as previous double crochets. 

If you’d like a wider bag, add chains in groups of 3s to the foundation chain or if you’d like a longer bag, add rows before the final row.

Chain 37 in yellow

Dc in the 6th ch from hook, *ch 2, skip 2, dc in every 3rd ch* repeat to end. Working on the other side of the ch, *ch 2, dc into the same stitch as dc on other side*  repeat too end; ch 2, sl st 3rd ch of beginning ch.

Ch 5, *dc in the next dc, ch 2* repeat to end; ch 2, sl st in 3rd stitch of beginning ch. 

Repeat step 2 two more times, 4 rows total of yellow, switching to blue in the last sl st.

Repeat step 2 nine times in blue.

Ch 1, *sc in dc and 2 sc in each 2 ch space* repeat all the way around, sl st into the 1st sc. Tie off and weave in ends.

Mesh Bag 2

This bag is made in the same manner as Mesh Bag 1, but without the colour change part way up the bag; instead it’s made entirely using the red yarn. 

Braided Tie

Measure 3 strands that are roughly 3.5 times the top of the mesh bag with it laid out on a flat surface. Tie a knot at one end and braid to the other end and tie off. Loop it through the mesh at the top of the bag and tie off.

For Mesh Bag 1, the braided tie is yellow and for Mesh Bag 2, the tie is blue.

Finishing Off (optional)

I used fabric paint to add details to Tata’s face and to a few makeup wipes. I had a really hard time getting Tata’s eyebrows even - which might explain why I don’t even try to fill in my eyebrows.
