people give all the credit to fontaine for being the “best region” (and they’re not wrong tbh) but why does everyone forget that genshin really started to glow up in sumeru?? like story flow, exploration, multi-layered map, character bursts/gameplay, not to mention the addition of dendro, a whole new element???

granted, sumeru still had plenty of flaws and i’m still not over the fact that they absolutely FUCKED dehya’s shit up so bad (she was the one sumeru character i wanted more than anyone else when it came out) but sumeru was peak in my opinion and im still not over the fact that it’s over. :(

some of my favorite things from sumeru IF you care:

- the relationship progression and teamwork between dehya, cyno and alhaitham. like they all started off super untrusting and unwilling to work with each other but were forced to make it work and ended up making a great team

- the archon quest in general had me so hooked the whole time i loved it (even the annoying ass samsara repetition at the beginning lol)

- Nilou’s burst, gameplay, and design. prettiest character in the whole game imo. (i still wish she had more potential as a dps rather than strictly a bloom/hydro applicator but oh well)

- Nahida’s writing. basically her whole character and development was so good, such a great archon

- literally everything to do with scaramouche/wanderer but if you guys are following me you already know i love him so do i really need to explain?

- absolutely BEAUTIFUL landscape even if it sucks to explore

- coolest looking enemies and bosses in the game i think (especially the eremites like what?? they literally look like they should be playable)

- the music in vorukasha oasis/ basically that whole area in general. the vocals are so pretty i literally stay there for hours just listening to the music, it’s my favorite area in the whole game i go there all the time when im bored

There are some sports in Teyvat but those sports seem a bit different from the ones you know from your world. The first time you talked about volleyball some of your friends were confused but at the same very curious about something you like. With excitement you started to talk more about it, Aether and Paimon were the ones to say to prepare the court for it in the Teapot. When everything was ready you showed how to serve the ball and play. The competitive types that wanted to play the match after grasping the rules. They don’t mind if they are against you, they like the healthy rivalry between them and you. Childe, Cyno, Itto, Kinich, Beidou, Mualani, Chasca, Mavuika, Dehya, Navia, Clorinde, Yoimiya, Yelan, Iansan, Chevreuse

They like to play casually, they don’t mind if they are with you or against you. Sometimes teasing you while playing to distract you for a bit for funnies. Kaeya, Heizou, Lyney, Ayato, Venti, Tighnari, Wriothesley, Kazuha. Lisa, Yae Miko, Hu Tao

Other casual players, they don’t mind being against you but they prefer to be with you in a team, they are happy if they can win a match with you. This is going to be a LONG post...

I decided that I need to write about what kind of Kaeya, with what past and what feelings in the present I want to see in the work, so that later I don’t deviate in the character/behavior of my favorite boy.

And that's how this "character portrait" came about.

SO WHAT... Let's start with something simple - age?

Age: I'll take about 22-23, probably (because Crepus dies on Diluc's 18th birthday, he leaves for three years, and then returns at 21, and the guys let it be another year or two in contrast to the cold-brothers, oh, and Kaeya didn't celebrate his 18th birthday as is customary for the Ragnvindras, then there will be a separate chapter from this, probably)

Those who know the truth about him: Diluc, Varka, Albedo, Venti, Alice (I'm sure), Lisa, Adelinda (Kaeya doesn't know about this), Aether and Paimon.

They don't know the truth, but they will find out: Klee, Fischl, Jean (a separate chapter about how Jean recognizes is a must!!!) and possibly someone else.

Friends (separately): Venti, Mavuika.

Family (not native): Diluc (older brother), Wriothesley (almost like an older brother), Albedo (younger/older brother, depending on the situation), Klee (younger sister), Bennett (younger brother), Adelinda (mom), Elzer (almost a brother, somewhere on the level of a cousin), Navia (kind and beloved rich aunt).

In general, I think that all the children of Mondstadt are automatically considered by Kaeya to be his younger brothers/sisters, but there are still those who have thoroughly captured his heart?

THE NIGHT WHEN KAEYA AND DILUC FIGHTED:

1. He told because he was afraid of his own betrayal in his brother's eyes - when he saw how much Crepus' death had hurt Diluc, and realized his own thoughts of relief, he was afraid of himself - for a moment he thought that he might actually betray him, and then Diluc would be crushed again. He was immediately afraid of his thoughts, because he knew that he would never betray - he would not dare betray his home and loved ones, but these thoughts were still bursting at him, and he decided to tell his brother. Perhaps as punishment for that fleeting feeling of freedom after Crepus' death, he was ready for a fight, even if he hoped for acceptance.

2. His vision - at once a treasure, proof that he chose Mondstadt, but also proof that in his brother's eyes he is not an enemy, but a stranger (and this hurts, because Kaeya is now literally made of contradictions).

3. On the day of the quarrel, Alberich received serious injuries, after which he spent a long time recovering in the Cathedral, and then at Jean's house: a crack on his left collarbone, internal bleeding, several significant cuts, minus an eye (he has one, but he is blind), a scar on his eye, several burns all over his body (Diluc in secret helped with their treatment), a deep wound on his side and a fracture in his leg (an unsuccessful fall from the stairs, when Diluc pushed him, became a crack, and an incorrect parry of a claymore made a full-fledged fracture)... something like that? Maybe that will change...

4. After receiving Cryo, Kaeya felt like the most disgusting creature in Teyvat, because he betrayed his brother, was betrayed by him and received the eye of a god, proving that he now walks under the Archons, whom he should have hated. Pain, lack of control over the Cryo he had just received, shock and mortal fatigue made him look at his brother, who realized everything that had happened that evening, smile falsely and, leaning on his almost broken sword, go towards Mondstadt. Perhaps at that moment he did not understand that he was going to Jean, and simply hoped to die somewhere along the way, but barely being conscious, he reached his friend, and she provided him with first aid - she tried to ask, but Kaeya just kept silent, choking on tears on his friend's chest until he lost consciousness. Then Jean urgently delivered him to the Cathedral, where he began to recover, but due to the rain, he also caught a fever.

5. At the same time : Diluc didn't dare stop his brother, knowing that if he tried to say anything now, he'd either be rude and say something he'd regret, or burst into tears and beg for forgiveness (which wouldn't do any good for either him or Kaeya at that moment). So he shouted "I HATE—!" at Kaeya's back (not him, but the way things had turned out - his father's death, Kaeya, their fight, the fact that he almost killed him, but Kaeya would think it was directed at him), and ran into the house to Adelinda: he sobbed all over her clothes, expressed all his thoughts, insults towards Kaeya, which were replaced by self-flagellation and regret, fear that he didn't know how they should behave now, because after that they were definitely not brothers. Then he realizes that Kaeya is walking alone toward Mondstadt, injured and with unstable vision, and he's unlikely to be able (or willing) to defend himself if he's attacked. So he heads to Mondstadt, follows Kaeya's bloody footprints, which the knights on the bridge have already begun to cover with sand, and ends up being detained by Eroch "on suspicion of attempting to kill Kaeya Alberich." But Jean says they can't confirm it was Diluc until Kaeya comes to his senses and confirms the charges, and for now Diluc is simply forbidden to leave Mondstadt. He asks to go to the Cathedral to see Alberich, but Jean says that even though she protected Diluc, she won't let him near Kaeya until he says he wants to, because she only knows one person whose fighting style leaves such wounds and burns.

But then Kaeya will come to his senses and tell the knights that he was surrounded by treasure thieves near the Dragonspine, and he hasn't seen Diluc since he came to him as reinforcements. Eroch will leave angry and with nothing, Jean will ask if Diluc can come to him. Kaeya will allow it, but Jean will decide to stay just in case (Keya was against it, but he couldn't refuse Jean when she was so worried about him). In the end, Diluc will come in, examine Alberich, frown, and when Kaeya tries to start a conversation, he will sharply say that they can't be brothers after this (Diluc will mean how badly he injured Kaeya, and Kaeya will think that he is talking about his secret), and tomorrow Diluc will cross Kaeya off the list of the Ragnvindr family. Without giving Kaeya a chance to say anything, he will simply leave, and will only return when Kaeya is asleep to check on his wounds and burns. Diluc will then leave Mondstadt to deal with the emotions burning within him (anger, revenge, disappointment, regret, guilt, rage, etc.), and Kaeya will be very depressed.

AFTER:

Keya will learn to live in a new way for a long time (even if it is very old, like when he lived in Khaenri'ah, and tried to be self-sufficient at 5 years old): life in the role of "not Diluc's shadow" will make him fall many times, and rise with a new learned lesson or a built line of behavior for this or that case, even the most alarming. He will learn to lie much better, will start to seriously overwork (until now, but now only on days when he feels very bad) and react to all alarming factors by avoiding the problem and belittling it. But this was only 1 year without Diluc - in the second and third, he again learns to trust people and makes friends (Jean, of course, was always with him), next to whom he feels comfortable even without his behavior strategies and smiles out of politeness. He still returns to the distillery once every six months and no one is at all against it, even, as Adelinda said, Diluc allowed it. But he can no longer call Dawn Winery home, or the knights' barracks, or the floor of the house that he, Jean, and Albedo (with Klee, of course) rent together. Yes, the last place, the house opposite the Goth Grand Hotel, is often noisy, warm, and has people close to him, but he still doesn't rearrange the furniture and only leaves things at home that he can easily take with him if something happens. And even though Diluc didn't order him to leave the Winery, Kaeya couldn't accept the fact that he, a "nobody" for the Ragnvindr family, would live there. And so he left.

In the my au, he will live relatively happily (he will at least be happy with what he has: good friends, Jean, who will always protect him from any bad thoughts, Lisa, who will listen; everything is more or less peaceful with Diluc, so much so that sometimes he allows himself to tease him as "brother" and dream that this is true when Diluc does not shut him up and just rolls his eyes with the corners of his lips imperceptibly raised), but when he has his own place, he will begin to understand that he must devote time to himself, his feelings and desires, not avoid them, but accept them, and live the way he dreamed of since childhood - freely and completely sincerely happily.

I love Kaeya and I want to lead him to love himself and not be lonely. He deserves it because he is such a kind child, hehe!

Amber:I passed his training awhile ago. He’s pretty tenacious, although he still has a few things to iron out. Him and Dehya seem to get along pretty well though.

Kokomi:I’ve actually appreciated her progress a lot when it comes to supporting Miko. Nahida has given her high marks as well.

Klee:She’s very nice to me! I don’t get hurt as much.

Aether:Well Chongyun, it sounds like you’ve trained another talent.

Hu Tao:Oh brother, don’t praise him too much. He will go from blue to red in no time. Also, what’s one or two good eggs under his wing.

Chongyun:One or two? There’s three at this table! You’re one of them!

Ayaka:You do good work.

Ganyu:Thank you for your efforts. How’s Freminet coming along?

Chongyun:He’s really hardworking. Truthfully,there’s not too much to really show him aside from team building.

Yanfei:Let’s address the elephant in the room shall we? Do we think anyone should be promoted to Captain? We’ve gained so many new friends and they’ve all got talent. I’m sure a certain someone in here would like to stop being the newest member.

Wanderer: Don’t really care either way. I’m sitting here right now because it’s mandatory.

Aether:I thought you’d be happier. This is technically your first meeting. You’ve escaped it for a decent time.

Wanderer: I don’t see the point in this. It’s not like we aren’t constantly crossing paths one way or another. My work speaks for itself. As well as my thoughts on who I see as…useful.

Yoimiya:Aw, is that your way of saying Faruzan is great? You gave her a crown! You two might as well be a dynamic duo. A trio if we include Diona.

Amber:Lyney isn’t ready yet, but I’ll keep an eye out.

Aether:It’s complicated. Also I think it would be criminal not to mention both Charlotte and Lynette have found comfortable footing.

Aether:No one’s humble all the time. Anyways, I’m sure Furina will come is wondering herself about her progress. It pretty apparent how much she’s shaken things up. I’ll talk to her.

Keqing:If nobody else has anything to mention, we can call it? I don’t want to keep you all too long.

Chongyun:Who’s Navia training under?

Hu Tao:More importantly, what if she’s good enough for Captain? Poor little Noelle might feel some type of way.

Amber:Noelle has two crowns. Although you do have a point? Maybe have Navia shadow under her for the time being? She’ll learn the ropes and it’s a new leadership role for Noelle. I bet those two will get along.

Alhaitham Scribe: Was introduced to the cult by Rukkhadevata, and joined shortly after; curious to know how the false religion grew so quickly. He quickly worked his way up to the job of Scribe, in which he recorded every major event within the Temple. He refused multiple offerings to become one of the Priests, and even the Grand Priest, despite the disdain it got for him each time. Currently works as a court stenographer. Currently lives in an apartment with his fellow believer, Kaveh, who constantly berates him for 'not worshipping Their Grace enough'.

Candace Aaru: Joined the cult when she was young, when her uncle convinced the majority of her family to join. As she grew, she was elected to become one of the Temple's youngest Matras, and after taking the position, she quickly became one of the most-liked ones. Spends most of her time being the only Temple's only contact to the outside world; getting groceries, letters, etc. After being told to move out, she got herself a job as a Teyvat City Police Officer, and moved into an suburbian house with her family.

Collei Eleazar: First joined the Church of Mondstadt branch of the cult when they 'saved her from starving to death as an orphan'. Later, she moved to the Temple of Sumeru to get around-the-clock medical help for a just-then-identified desease. Spends her time taking care of the plants within the Temple, and the forest surrounding part of it. Due to how severe her condition is, she didn't have to leave the Temple. But she decided to move in with her main caretaker, Tighnari, when he offered. Currently lives in a suburbian house.

Cyno Mahamatra: Learned about the cult from Cyrus, not long after becoming his foster son, but only joined shortly after meeting Tighnari. As he grew up, he worked his way up to the position of General Mahamatra. Spends his time either hunting down sinners, or playing Genius Invokation TGC with anybody willing to play with him. Due to his position, he was one of the few permitted to stay, and thus he never moved out of the Temple. He's also one of the few members without a job after moving ou, so he can dedicate more time to the Temple and Their Grace.

Dehya Flame-Mane: Was introduced to the cult when they saved her from homelessness in her teen years, and joined shortly after. At first spent her time training to become a Matra. But she later shifted gears when she learned the Temple had only a dozen people donating money to it, and she got herself a job at Eremite Security. Currently works as a manager there. When she was told to move out, she convinced multiple of co-workers to get an apartment with her close to their place of work, so she could give most of her paycheck to the Temple. Gives a 40% discount to all members of the cult.

Dori Sangemah Bay: Was introduced to the cult by Alice Hexenzirkl, and joined when she learned they could help her take care of her older sister. When she learned that the Temple of Sumeru was the poorest of all seven branches of the cult, she decided to spend her time making money for it. Somehow founded both a mall and shipping company, both named Alcazarzaray, and both extremely popular, and gets 45% of all financial proceeds. When she was told to move out, she got a penthouse in Teyvat City, which somehow didn't make a dent in her monthly donation to the cult.

'Escher Doctor': Was introduced to the cult when he and his team were told to investigate it. Originally 'joined' through a contact in the Church of Sneznhaya, but later transferred to the Temple of Sumeru, where he learned his lost daughter was a member. Spends his time treating sick members of the Temple, and using their weak minds to gain information from them. Currently works as a paramedic for Bimarstan, and currently lives in a suburbian house not far from Collei's.

Faruzan Haravatat: Was introduced to the cult by Tighnari and Collei, whom she not long after waking from a decade-long coma, and joined shortly after. Spends her time teaching the children and teens of the Temple both english and literature. When she was told to move out, she finished getting her doctorate in education, and took up a job teaching college kids english and literature. Currently lives in a studio apartment in Teyvat City, not too far from Akademiya University-- her place of work.

Kaveh Light: Was introduced to the cult by Dori when she hired him to build her mall, but didn't join until the project made him broke. Spends his time trying to find ways to sneak art in the Temple of Sumeru; finding it insulting that a place dedicated to The Creator doesn't have any creations of it's own. Currently works as a renowned architect, who is still broke on account of him donating all money he gains to the Temple. When he was told to move out, he tried looking for a place of his own, but eventually settled for Alhaitham's offer to live in his suburbian house.

Layla Rtawahist: Was introduced to the cult by Dori, but didn't join until three major events happened: Losing all of her scholarship money, gaining major insecurities and anxiety in college, and learning that her two idols (Mona and Lisa) were a part of the cult. Spends a lot of her time at the cult either sleeping or studying.

Nahida Irminsul: Was the first member born into the cult, and is believed to be the reincarnation of Their Grace's fourth-born: Sumeru. Due to this, she was granted the position of Dendro Archon. Mostly spends her time in solitude, being taught by Grand Priest Azar and the six priests below him. Due to her position, she's one of the few permitted to stay.

Nilou Zubayr: Was introduced to the cult by her idol, a man with the same last name as her, but didn't join until after meeting Dehya. Was shocked to learn that the Temple saw all forms of art as illegal, and only allowed it for people like architects and engineers. Spends her time trying to convince the Priests to allow art during bigger events held in Their Grace's name. Secretly works as a dancer at Zubayr Theatre, as the Temple doesn't allow artistic jobs. When she was told to move out, she got a studio apartment close to her job.

Tighnari Avidya: Was introduced to the cult when they saved him from a heat stroke, and joined shortly after. Spends his time taking care of the plants in and surrounding the Temple, and taking care of sick individuals. When he was told to move out, he got himself a job as a park ranger at a place named Gandharva Park, and moved into a suburbian house with Collei.

So to start things off, I began on the universe with a light note with some comedic banter between Cyno and Sethos, and with the title I've given the dialogue, I'm quite sure you could guess who was who. Cyno was Perry the platypus and Sethos is Dr. Doofinsmirtz.

Okay, now for the casting for the rest of the characters. Only one problem.......there isn't any.

Most of the characters can't be 'cast' per se with nobody from Genshin having barely or any similar traits to the characters of Phineas and Ferb. I've got a few, however.

Isabella: Nilou

Baljeet: Nahida

Buford: Scaramouche

Major Monogram: Azar (don't give me hate comments yet be patient pls)

Monty (I think that's his name?): Alhaitham

Carl: Xingqiu (Don't ask (Seriously imagine this guy singing that one song Carl sang))

For the people thinking 'What about Phineas and Ferb?! They're the main characters you should've at least cast them right!'

...yeah about that there is no Phineas and Ferb. I'll explain that right now.

The actual show of Phineas and Ferb is about them along with their entire gang of friends doing crazy and insane things on every day of their summer in an attempt to make the most out of it, inventing the wildest and wackiest inventions while their sister Candace tried to 'bust' them and get them in trouble with their parents.

Well, this is Genshin, we all know it's gonna be more complicated (and possibly more depressing) than that. So, I was thinking, since I've previously confirmed the existence of the Akademia in this universe, then obviously most of the Sumeru characters attend it.

So, instead of them being a couple of kids just enjoying their summer, maybe the Sumeru gang could be doing the same thing, making all of those crazy inventions, but with a different intent. The Akademia being the Akademia, could give the kids a summer long project to invent something extraordinary!

Kaveh, Tighnari, Cyno, Faruzan, Layla, Nahida, and Scaramouche have met each other on a couple of occasions and have become accquaintances, and had decided this project was far too big to simply do by themselves and have decided to team up with each other and do the project while maybe having a little bit of fun at the same time

Nilou, Dehya and Candace occasionally join the group because of common friends (Layla and Cyno)

Remember when I made Azar Major monogram? Yeah there's a good reason for that! I said in the previous episode that Cyno worked as a secret agent for the Akademia? Well, the Akademia is disguised as a school, but has secret intentions to take over not just Sumeru with their ideals, but the world!

Cyno was recruited into the Akademia's secret agents as a part of Project Hermanubis. He was an orphan who was taken into the Akademia after being abandoned as a child and soon began displaying strange powers. The Akademia grew interested in what these powers could potentially be and made him an 'agent' in exchange of providing him food, shelter and an education and a vow of silence. When the Akademia could finally have Cyno's complete loyalty and trust, his powers would be at their disposal.

The Akademia didn't want to give Cyno the jobs of an actual agent and risk him finding out their true intentions just yet, but needed to give him a job to maintain his status as an agent, and Sethos' ridiculous plots were the perfect way to do it.

Sethos was part of a cult of geniuses called the temple of silence, who's motto was to make the world a better place and had connections to the actual Hermanubis. Hermanubis however was considered as a curse because of his powers. Hermanubis wasn't considered a god to the people in this universe.

Unbeknownst to Cyno, Sethos also had the power of Hermanubis passed down to him. When the cult found out of these powers, they exiled him from the it in fear of him becoming too powerful, as Hermanubis' powers brought chaos and destruction instead of peace and harmony like the cult had intended. Out of anger and humiliation of being exiled, Sethos attempts to blow up the secret base of the temple of silence.

The Akademia decides to send Cyno on this mission to foil Sethos' plan, so Cyno goes in, completely blind of Sethos' motivations for the said bombing and manages to succeed his first mission. Sethos, despite being foiled and humiliated yet again, he found a certain rush of adrenaline that he particularly enjoyed carrying out his evil scheme, so why did he need to stop?

So he came up with more and more schemes for Cyno to foil. The Akademia found this as the perfect distraction for Cyno and assigned Sethos as his arch-nemesis. Meanwhile, Sethos finds himself strangely enjoying Cyno's company, which in turn motivates him to come up with more and more ridiculous schemes.

Cyno slowly realizes that Sethos isn't actually that evil, and even secretly finds himself enjoying Sethos' company as well. Soon, their relationship becomes much more than just hero vs villain. They become frenemies

Cyno goes for his missions while when the others invent their stuff and are quite oblivious, even believing Cyno's incredibly weak excuses. Well, everyone except for Tighnari, who was Cyno's best friend. He didn't know anything about Cyno's past and his powers and his current affiliation with the akademia.

Alhaitham is the prodigy of Azar, but Alhaitham doesn't admire him and has his suspicions, but isn't currently aware of the Akademia's misdeeds. Xingqiu is Alhaitham's intern and helps him with his stuff and really looks up to him, but would also like to get recognition as the intern.

oh god this turned out long. under read more i guess. warning: pretty unstructured.

When I say AU here, i mean 'a shambling mess of ideas', not a proper story. It all started because of cytham week last year, actually. There was a free day so I thought "I love cytham, i love magical girls, let's smush them together"! The thing ended up being one of my favorite drawings ever, it holds a special place in my heart.

While I was working on it, the AU had already began to expand in my head. Based on precure tropes, I thought Nahida would be a good "fairy/mascot turned magical girl" and Wanderer could be a nice classic "enemy turned good". Nahida was going to be in the cytham week piece, but I couldn't settle on a good composition, sadly.

Turned out to be a good thing though because I decided against the initial idea of her being a Ha-chan esque tiny fairy. Now I want her to be an aranara (Aranahida....) who gets a humanoid form mid-season!

Also, having the quartet as a team sort of worked out because I already gave Cyno and Alhaitham a wing/feather motif -- partially because hiropre was on the mind, but I didn't pull it entirely out of my ass. Alhaitham is obvious (eagle/falcon motif in his name, constellation, cape, etc.), but Cyno has the wings on his headdress and the feather in his character demo. The feather is of course an Anubis association (weighing hearts against ma'at, usually depicted as a feather), but the headdress wings are likely a Hermes thing (winged helmet), since Cyno's spirit is explicitly named Hermanubis.

So me picking Nahida and Wanderer to round out the team fits in pretty well! Nahida has her caged bird theming, her whole thing with that Dusk bird during Act 2, and her playing with projections idle. Wanderer aside from being able to fly has that bird in his character demo; Nahida watching over him, or an "inheritance" from Ei and Miko's idles? Either way, he also slots into the wing theme nicely.

It also fits because they're all the Akademiya bigshots gang, at least in canon. I think this AU will age them down into students (because the designs I do have are close to their canon designs, so it'd be good to have some visual distinction between magical and civilian identities). Nahida and Wanderer have more leeway tho as explicit non humans.

Also. Cyno and Alhaitham have a duo attack early on and in true precure fashion it will be giant beam while holding hands. Aranahida will be involved and of course always says "everyone hold hands! :)" at the start.

And eventually, I decided a few other Sumeru characters might be fun to rope in too, though they're all still very very rough ideas. Started with a 5 star = magical girl, 4 star = fairy/support distinction, but I might bend it around.

Dehya - cool senior magical girl who probably intervenes when cytham have their inevitable Fight Episode

Candace - some type of non-mg fighter/support (ala prince kanata or rosemary), works with Dehya

Tighnari - magical boy primarily dealing with purifying the Withering

Collei - Tighnari's serval fairy and apprentice

Kaveh - one of those types of fairies that don't do anything (can't decide if lion or birb....). he's just. there

Nilou - performer magical girl? i should probably watch smth from the idol mg subgenre before i fully know her deal, but basically she can fight but it isn't her focus

Oh wow this one got away from me. I guess before leaving I'll add on one tiny thought I have regarding the core characters in this AU. You could probably see Cyno and Nahida's justice and kindness and mercy fitting the genre; you could see redemption is a reocurring motif and so Wanderer fits in solidly. What about Alhaitham?

Well. Alhaitham's "I'll do this grandiose god-saving operation because I want to keep my job and peaceful life" mentality feels like close cousins with magical girls having mundane concerns (want to hang out with friends, dinner with family, chocolate on sale today) motivating them to fight and save the world; it's probably one reason why I like that aspect of him so much. In a genre that's about balancing the mundane and the magical, he fits right in!

Haikaveh Fics I Want to Read (Part 4)

1. The situation in Sumeru takes an unexpected turn for the worse as both corruption and the Abyss begin to encroach. Nahida foresees a way to protect her beloved nation, but it's going to take both extensive knowledge of King Deshret's records and the mechanical and structural workings of the old desert empire. How convenient that she knows two people who've researched exactly that.

Or: Alhaitham and Kaveh are forced to team up to finally complete the research project that tore their friendship apart years ago--and, in the process, maybe mend a little more than just their unfinished thesis.

2. Haunted by his broken relationships and his idealistic dreams of what a proper, happy family should look like, Kaveh is completely blind to what's happening around him in the here-and-now; it takes him far too long to realize that the rowdy gang of people who've carved out niches in his daily life may not resemble the harmony of his childhood home, but are, nonetheless, a family--full of love.

It's just a found family feel-good fic, featuring: An Alhaitham who has been waiting forever for Kaveh to acknowledge his feelings, double date buddies Cyno and Tighnari who don't mean any of their complaints (about Alhaitham, Kaveh, or even each other), a merc who wanders in and out of their lives like a feral cat, a dancer with big dreams and a bigger heart, and two ancient supernatural beings who definitely aren't children but still sometimes really need an open door and a helping hand.

3. It's not a crime to dream, okay?! Kaveh knows he's not getting out of debt any time soon. He won't be able to build the beautiful mansion of his fantasies for a million more years. But that doesn't mean he can't at least plan for it, right? Right? It should have lots of light, and lots of garden space, and a built-in coffee bar, a good place for warm naps, and at least two desks, close to the Akademiya as a mansion can be, and maybe the library should be a little bigger--the Akasha is gone now, that just makes sense--

Or: Kaveh drafts the blueprints for his dream home. It takes him until the very last line to realize that he'd just assumed Alhaitham would also be there.

4. "Alhaitham is the most irritating person on the face of the earth! He's temperamental, deliberately irksome, lazy, and archons forbid you're in conversation range when he comes across something brand new in those books of his--you won't get a word in edgewise for hours!"

"Kaveh... Have you been drinking again? This doesn't sound like Alhaitham at all..."

No matter who he tells, no one seems to believe Kaveh's story that Alhaitham acts totally different around Kaveh than he does around everyone else. But it's true! Kaveh has to live with it everyday! Fed up with being doubted, Kaveh encourages their mutual friends to eavesdrop to prove it once and for all. If they see just how doubly frustrating Alhaitham really is in private, then maybe they'll finally grant Kaveh the commiseration he is due!

Cyno is in it for the blackmail evidence. Tighnari is in it for the betting pool. Aether's always in it, whatever "it" is. Nahida is nosy. Dehya is there for the laughs. And Nilou's not sure how she got involved at all, but she's definitely going to do her best!

(Or: The Sumeru Crew tries their hardest to spy on Alhaitham to prove he's a simp, and it goes exactly as ridiculously as it sounds.)

5. A 5+1 fic that's just a soft compilation of little things Kaveh has adjusted in his daily life to accommodate to living with Alhaitham (and one time Alhaitham returned the favor). They're small gestures, barely noticeable when taken individually-- remembering to stop for takeout on gloomy days because his roommate hates going out in the rain, memorizing the order Alhaitham uses to shelve his books, tip-toeing because Alhaitham always insists on napping in the living room, no more client meetings after 5pm--but together they form the picture of settling down softly, (sort of) easily, into another person's life.

6. After the Interdarshan Championship, Kaveh wades his way through the arduous process of dividing up and donating Sachin's estate, including properties in the Avidya Forest. But on one trip out to survey land, a run in with Ruin machines leaves Kaveh and Mehrak both worse for the wear. Injured and at the mercy of the jungle, far from help, Kaveh fears the worst--until he encounters a strange, cabbage-shaped creature that seems (if he's understanding its odd way of speaking) like it wants to help. Little does Kaveh know that "help" from an aranara may involve solving endless ancient puzzles, diving into the unfathomable world of dreams--and finding out things about his father that he never could have learned by himself.

Meanwhile, Alhaitham is a rational, calm individual who is most definitely not worried about his roommate disappearing while dealing with a nihilist's estate. He's absolutely not taking time off from his work duties to scour the forest for signs of a missing architect. And he certainly isn't forming any advanced conspiracy theory about forest fairies spiriting people away. Obviously not.

(Or: Kaveh is rescued in the jungle by the same aranara his father befriended decades ago, allowing him to heal some wounds both physical and mental. Meanwhile, suddenly finding himself alone opens up some wounds Alhaitham didn't know he had.)

+1, where Haikaveh isn't the main focus but is definitely still in the background:

A slight canon-divergent AU where, during the Interdarshan Championship, that weird "Hat Guy" takes an unintentionally fierce blow from Cyno and receives a wound that definitely... does not look like something a human being might experience. Kaveh notices and, in typical empathetic fashion, can't let it go--if he hadn't distracted Cyno with all his flailing, that injury might never have happened, so Kaveh's at least got to offer to help this (probably not-quite-human) stranger, right? There isn't any form of engineering on Teyvat that Kaveh can't manage, after all!

It's... easier said that done to actually corner the weird Wanderer, and even easier said than done to get him to agree to Kaveh's checks. But that difficulty is nothing compared to handling the history of abuse writ plain upon the puppet body's inner-workings or the story of centuries of grief the boy finally deigns to share.

Kaveh knows a thing or two about suffering, but there are some things no heart--however much the Wanderer claims to lack one--should have to bear.

If there's one thing Wanderer doesn't trust, it's generosity. If this gullible fool thinks he'll be allowed to fix all the damage Dottore left just completely free of charge, well, he has another thing coming. Say what you want about Wanderer, but he pays his debts.

Or: An odd-friendship fic where Kaveh fixes Scaramouche's injuries-- the ones that can be seen and even some that can't--and Scaramouche pays him back by trying help solve some of Kaveh's problems too, starting with the big, tactless one known as Scribe Alhaitham.

genshin headcanons sumeru edition

so nahida may be an archon but she is still a child, and even though she tries to act as mature as possible her child side comes out when she is tired and around people she trusts, esp the team that rescued her

In many meetings that include Al-Haitham she ends up on his lap because she feels uncomfortable on her chair and likes to consult to him some things, and sometimes, when she´s been working too much she falls asleep, so then he has to carry her to a room to sleep.

This led to once bumping into Kaveh while taking her to rest, but Kaveh only saw Haitham from behind and started complaining loudly to him about something, waking Nahida up. Al-Haitham wanted to kill him and for once Kaveh was apologizing with his life. Nahida thought it was funny, and was glad to finally meet Kaveh, bc even though they "hate" each other Haitham always ends up bringing him up.

Sometimes Nahida asks Dehya to take her to watch Nilou perform to take a break. Dehya gets her food she hasn't tried yet and they enjoy the show together. Before and after Nahida asks a lot of questions about everything and Dehya answers gladly. Nilou always greets them and gets very flustered their archon was watching her.

Nahida on specially important situations goes with Cyno to inspect some cases. However she inevitably gets tired of walking all day so she ends up on his shoulders.

Cyno talked waaay too much about Tighnari and Collei, so one day she asked to meet them, after all, Tighnari has been of great help. He took her to Gandharva Village and they recieved her very well. Now she communicates weekly with Tighnari to make sure everything is going smoothly.

Nahida wanted to visit Aaru Village, so Dehya took her. Candace was very respectfual but also was not afraid to speak about what her people needed, and Nahida has kept contact with her

overall, they are a big family

Next in the turning of the TWST dorms into Teyvat nations, Sumeru (and Natlan, for that matter).

Now this one was complicated, both Savanaclaw AND Scarabia would be good choices for Sumeru.

However, since it could only be one dorm per region, I chose Scarabia, while Savanaclaw stays with Natlan (their spirit of tenacity would mesh well with the nation of War). The whole theme of freedom in Jamil's story just fits well with how Nahida was imprisioned for 500 years.

Leona and Ruggie are still from Sumeru, though.

Leona is a secondbord sumerian prince that, tired of being neglected as well as feared for his power, went on a self-imposed exile, wandering Teyvat. He is a recurring ally for the Traveler, though they only find out about his origins much later (think "Hornton is Malleus" reveal).

Leona often visits Liyue, where he has a rivalry with a certain fae prince and plays chess with Zhongli, you can also find him in Natlan whenever there is a competition, or visiting Cheka and his family.

Meanwhile, Ruggie doesn't have time to go on a cross country trip, not when he has to help his Grandma and all of the kids he looks after. Luckily, he has been accepted into the pride of another lion, or should I say lioness?

He is part of Dehya's mercenary group, often helping people in need on the desert. He follows Dehya when she starts working for the Homayanis, though.

As for the Scarabia students, the Asims are a wealthy family in Sumeru City, so not much changes from canon, Kalim is still the heir, with Jamil as his aide.

Kalim and Dunyazard are besties, they go shopping together, have plenty of parties, he always reads books for her or tries to cheer her up when the Eleazar flares up, they even organized the Sabzeruz Festival together.

Jamil is happy because if Dunyazard is near, then Dehya and Ruggie are nearby, which means he has two allies that can share his burden of taking care of the sunshines. And force him to take breaks.

Dehya has already adopted Jamil and is seriously thinking of "kidnapping" him and letting him join her group. It's better than having to serve the Asims. Kalim approves of the plan.

Kalim and Jamil love the Grand Bazaar, often dancing with Nilou or doing their own shows, though in secret because the Akademiya hates art.

Another addition to the cast is Riddle! He is from Fontaine, but his mother sent him to the Akademiya as soon as he fit the requirements to attend.

He is currently studying in the Amurta darshan, always pulling all-nighters and fighting Layla over coffee. He is so tired that he never even HAS anger issues anymore.

Except for that one time when he almost blew up Avidya Forest during an internship with Tighnari (the Fatui were trying to capture Collei and he got mad). He was apologetic for his outburst later, but Tighnari didn't mind. The ranger now tells Riddle to stay in Ghandarva Ville if he and Cyno are unavailable, just in case. There is no such thing as too many vision wielders when fighting the Fatui, especially Dottore.

Riddle also wants to join the Matra because of his interest in laws, with Cyno being a role model. Meanwhile the general has made it his personal mission to make the kid laugh with his awful jokes. It's not working.

Leona is visiting Cheka when the Sumeru chapter happens, so the sages are in for a bad time, what with Jamil, Leona and Alhaitham in the same team. (They hurt Dunyazard, it's PERSONAL).

I've asked around those of us that were there, but bare in mind Nahida and Layla are the only ones who didn't have alcohol, so some of these may have been remembered incorrectly. Nahida and Wanderer won. Significantly. They genuinely bankrupted everyone, including the bank itself, and had every single property in the end, after about 4 hours. Wanderer's fun to play with, I've suggested we start inviting him to the TCG nights at the tavern.

happy halloween! have y’all seen scara’s drip? D A M N. it’s kinda scary how it’s also the anniversary of bohemian rhapsody as well as when the 1.1 trailer came out, when we first met him. interesting...

enough of that, how have y’all been? so persona 5 royal was released on the 21st and i’ve been playing it ever since. as someone who majored in psych as an undergrad and studying counseling psych for grad school, the information about personas and shadows are accurate and literally, i’ve haven’t been this happy. also, the storyline and the characters are AMAZING (i'm in my akechi kisser era lol love that pancake loser to death and i’m an ann kinnie love her). i’m looking forward to play strikers afterwards and both p3 and p4 when they get released 1/19/23.

some of the genshin impact vas are in that game -- ann’s, ryuji’s, and mishima’s specifically -- and that gave me an idea of a persona au. each nation released so far will get their own hcs!

persona has a feature called social links where you hang out with characters you’ve met throughout the game and they’ll give power-ups for your journey. i’ll be assigning a character to a role in the team for each nation, what persona they would have based on constellations, and what arcana they would have for their social links with the reader based on their personalities and ideals. i hope that makes sense?

liyue - ningguang, keqing, tartaglia (childe), zhongli, ganyu, xiao, hu tao, yanfei, shenhe, yelan

sumeru - tighnari, collei, cyno, candace, nilou, nahida, al-haitham, kaveh, dehya, scaramouche (wanderer)

notes:

each team has 9-10 members each. p3 to p5 the range was 8-10.

team composition was based on the characters who participated in the main storyline and/or were considered important during the interludes. in some cases, some were important to the event storyline (e.g., mona and albedo) and some were just thrown in there (e.g., hu tao and kaveh).

childe is in the liyue team as he was released during that chapter i.

scaramouche is in the sumeru team instead of inazuma as he was released during chapter iii and received his vision in the nation (check drip marketing).

it felt like a crime not including itto into the inazuma team because his eng va max mittelman voiced ryuji so i was thinking of including social links with npcs (as in playable characters of genshin who aren’t in the team but can benefit from forming relationships with you) as well.

quest for the 4* hp% sword: musings on kirara, nilou, bountiful cores

predicting ascension mats is a silly hobby but it is my favorite. i knew since she was a nekomata, that she'd probably have some connection to the other inazuma cats, so her mats would either be naku weed or amakumo fruit, as those are what grows on seirai island where asase shrine is. further more, so far only raiden uses amakumo fruit whereas both yoimiya and kuki use naku weed, therefore. amakumo fruit. and i was right!

ive just noticed how many hp scaling sword users there are (nilou, kuki, layla, fucking benny even, and now kirara) with no (non-5-star) hp% sword. at all. every other weapon type has some kind of option for their characters (though youre probably not gonna raise the recurve bow just for a couple extra points on diona's shield)

3.7 weapon is an EM bow which sounds great for tighnari, melt ganyu, and thats it.

the fontaine craftable weapons better include an hp% sword. this is getting ridiculous. hp is kinda hydros thing so it's not a stretch.

gonna give nilou 2p millelith/2p that new set for dehya. right now at level 79/80 (where shes going to stay until after i have kaveh raised) with 4p millelith hp/hp/hp/, shes at 42k. (with hydro resonance)

i dont know if the hydro her tranquility aura confers counts as a 'hit' for millelith, but it doesnt matter because the priority is squeezing as much out of her a4 as possible, which means hp hp hp hp. i have about 109% out of a possible 400%, and i dont think you can get that full 400 without key of khaj nisut. but. i'll get as close as i can. and then in 3 weeks i'll get kaveh and it'll be more.

right now, with a. get this. EM barbara 700-ish because i havent quite finished getting the gilded that i'd had couched on razor for kaveh. we're doing about 24k bountiful cores. nahida doesnt actually work too well with nilou because you need to like. i think it works better if nilou and/or someone else is doing the wetting and the dendro side of the equation is the one making the reaction. they say kaveh doesnt apply enough dendro on his own to do it, but we'll see. theyre both better in multi-target, so, multiple auras.

shame theres no good way for crowd control with nilou. swirl preference means youre always picking up hydro anyway. i was hoping there would be more, like. dendro constructs, like how the samachurl has his little vine walls.

and it seems like. the team right now is nahida/nilou/barbara/[tignari or yaoyao]. barbara, currently being built entirely into EM, is not healing quite enough, so i gave my lvl 50 yaoyao her maidens for extra heals and extra offfield dendro. it has been working quite well.

so. when i get kaveh, the gilded that's on barbara will go to kaveh, and it will be kaveh/nilou/xingqiu/yaoyao??? i still havent decided on baizhu. kirara has thrown a huge wrench into my decision. express delivery big wrench. it will eventually be kirara in the fourth slot. if we cant keep up heals which between kavehs own healing and xingqius little bits, i might switch out for barbara. and then theres. well. kokomi. i need to figure out kokomis kit i never know what im doing with her when playing with trials and stuff. then theres ayato, and then fontaine will probably bring a few good hydro characters, including fucking focalors herself, so. who knows. there are possibilities. and if kokomi or ayato come up on a rerun before we know what wet goodies lie in wait in the land of steampunk courtroom drama.

3.7 apparently has a new yoimiya chapter so there's 1/4. it also seems to be inazuma centric, though, so. gulp.

i've been doing great!! finals are over for me and i've found a roommate. i've been napping on recent sumeru characters so i still have funds for dehya hehe no reason for me to pull for colorist characters when my friends decide to c6 nahida. i considered pulling for nilou but i think i'll save up because she's another case of a terribly written female hoyoverse character and it breaks my heart. cyno is a little underwhelming without dendro but my traveler is carrying all of my electro teams. i also pulled c2 tighnari while pulling for wanderer and haven't decided whether i should build him or not.

as for what i named wanderer? that's going to be a secret hehe
