MY OPINION ON;

Character in general: I think I'm going to choose to talk about Anya because, when I first followed Pom, it was because of her. I LOVE Anya, she's small and as cute as a button, she has little speech quirks (which I'm always a sucker for), and I ADORE how she bounces off others, like her classmates or her adoptive parents. Her punching Damian is still peak Anya. She's the reason I decided to watch SxF when it was first airing. I love quirky kid characters, and she just fits the bill so well! She might be very young, and innocent, and often scatter-brained, but she always means so well and does what she can with her telepathy IN SPITE of all the issues that come with possessing such an ability. She's also incredibly smart for her age, especially in that Ancient Language class of hers (which pretty sure is English?? That was always funny to me), so I cannot wait for S3 to air so I can get more of her! And yeah, I could read the manga, but I just... read too much already lmao.

How they play them: Pom NAILS Anya and her speech quirks, that's all I can say! Her replies, while few and far in-between, give her a lot of personality through the narration, and it makes me REALLY wanna interact with her more myself just so I can read more Anya! She's just so silly... and cute... and wholesome... Plus, not many people write kid characters, at least not at their canon ages (but that has always been the case), so whenever I see someone who is open to BOTH writing a kid character at their canon age as well as having an FC and everything for older!verses? I can respect it! Anyways, she's Pump's prank buddy now, they're getting candy later.

The Mun: Pom is the girlie that writes ALL the girlies, and I admire the hustle! I could NEVER run a multi-muse, much less one with as many girlies as she does, but that is one of the many things that makes her so cool!! I also think she has one of the most complex RP blogs and systems out there, from her pages, to her tagging system, to even the fact that she does her own CSS work to edit how Tumblr's Dashboard looks like?? She even runs a resources blog, the dedication to her craft is INSANE. And it is very easy to see why her blog has been around for so many years, she's a joy to have around! People not only want to interact with her girlies, but with her as well because of she's very humble, open and welcoming to everybody. You can tell just by looking at her OOC posts, and it's not very different in DMs! I'm glad she's as nice as she is, because I was too nervous to send her a Discord friend request whoops. Dare I say that she is one of the RPC's pillars or is that far too bold??

RP with them: YES!! A bunch of asks mostly, but I'm looking forward to any of them being turned into thread because I love, love, LOVE all of the girlies she has sent my way!!

Want to RP with them: OF COURSE!! I love giving Pump girlie friends, he should have some EVEN if he refuses to catch cooties from them lmao. Plus Pom has SO MANY GIRLIES the dynamic possibilities are pretty much ENDLESS!!

WHAT IS MY;

Overall Opinion: Funny enough, I knew about Pom back when her blog was themed around Vulpix. Sadly, I ended up dropping off the RPC due to my studies way before we got to interact... which is why I'm so happy we are now!! I think everyone in my Dash knows Pom already-- BUT IF YOU DON'T?? If you want lots of girlies, cute ships and crossovers, and tons of good vibes, GO FOLLOW POM THIS INSTANT!! She's always on that RP grind, whether it be replies/asks, plotting with people, making graphics or resources, so you'll be in good hands if you become Mutuals with her! And she has LOTS of girlie variety in her blog, so you WILL find a girlie you like for sure. 😎 I found a good five at least, and I'm usually VERY indecisive when it comes to big multi-muse rosters!

Muse & Blog Update:

While being on this weird hiatus I've been doing a lot of blog and muse work. There is a brand new muse page that is still a work in progress. But right now all are listed, and sorted by primary, secondary, test/new, and private. A few hurt me to say goodbye to, but unfortunately it was time.

I have a new URL and new theme/color scheme, and am hopefully going to work on some new promo stuff.

I've also overhauled my open starter tag. I will relink it as soon as it's finished, but right now I'm deleting ones from muses I've removed, will be reposting some oldies but (what i think are) goodies, and planning out new ones that I will be queuing up for the coming days. As always, they will be permanently open once released.

I have done a very large follower purge. Removed some long inactive accounts and some people that i've just never interacted with. Hoping putting some new content out there will help my will to write return more, and maybe find some new friends.

Lastly, I hope support continues to return my emails over this silly thing that @wynterlanding and I can no longer see each other on our dashboards. It had become increasingly discouraging that this is the only person it's happening to and considering how much we interact there should be no reason for it.

Thank you for sticking with me this long. This blog is going on 3 1/2 years old and I'm just so happy that I have and continue to make friends on this god forsaken hell site.

Hey friend! I learned how to make gif packs recently and really want to help the others in this community as I am a disabled human and struggle finding the content I need but I’m struggling with how to post my packs as like if i do a post I can only post so many. Could you help or put links or etc on how to make like a source link with all the gifs?

hey anon! sorry this reply is so late. below i've outlined how to create a source link for a gif pack.

where you'd like to upload your gifs is based on personal preference. i personally upload mine on a separate sideblog, pictured below

open up the blog you are using (blogurlname.tumblr.com) and click the edit appearance icon in the top right corner. looks like this on mine!

click the add page button, again pictured below. you may have to scroll a bit. my links are protected via my discord server! you may always message me or @cozysip for links to certain packs if you are uncomfortable with discord.

after that, your screen should look something like this!! here, you can keep it as a standard layout and start uploading your gifs from your computer and adding whatever sort of text you would like. or keep it blank and just add the name of the fc + their gifs. you can also change the layout to custom and add a page theme. i'll add how i do this below. free page themes are aplenty on tumblr, you just have to know how to search!

after clicking the dropdown menu highlighted above, you should see an option to switch it to "custom layout" as shown below. this may look a bit different if you: a) are on a browser other than chrome or b) are working on something other than a macbook. but the process to getting here should remain pretty much the same as far as i know!

uploading gifs this way will look a bit different than a standard layout. i usually open up a draft and insert gifs that way, save the draft, and then copy + paste the url into the page theme code. note you may have to remove a possible "v" at the end of each link. tedious, i know. from here you can paste the html for your page theme and begin editing the colors, fonts, etc.

adding these as a source link will look like copy + pasting the page url for your gif pack into a source link for your gif pack post. i'll attach screenshots of how to do this below.

and voila! you should have a post with a source link now. it will not show until it's posted. a good way to double check that you have the right source link is posting + clicking the source link. i will link the creator of the page theme i use for gif packs below. if you need anymore help with this, feel free to dm me or send another ask! always happy to help.

Hello there! This is my new and (hopefully) improved tutorial on how to upload gifs for a gif pack page! Tumblr has changed in recent years when it comes to how to upload gifs and how they’re formatted (like .gifv coming in and ruining everyone’s day). People in the community have also made the shift towards more decorated and custom gif pack pages rather than strictly gif filled pages. As such, this tutorial will focus on how to prepare your gifs for those codes. Resources will be linked at the bottom!

NOTE: This tutorial is also available as a Google Doc (the recommended platform for reading this tutorial) with full size images that might be easier to see, however I know some users don’t like going outside of Tumblr to view tutorials, so it’s available on both platforms. To read the Google Doc version, please CLICK HERE.

Setting Up Your Gifs

Load all of your gifs as you usually would into a new post. I usually wait until I have around 20 gifs, then I get ready to move them. Moving them over periodically usually helps it feel like less of a strain waiting for a million gifs to load all at once. Make sure all of your gifs are under a READ MORE! This will prevent them from turning into the gifv format!

Once you’ve uploaded all your gifs, make sure to SAVE AS A DRAFT.

Next, you’re going to want to hit edit on the draft, again, this has to be SAVED before you can do the next step.

This is where all the magic happens. What we’re going to do is strip our gifs of any unnecessary code in a few simple steps. First, hit the gear icon at the top of your post and change the Text Editor from Rich Text to Markdown.

Next, you’re going to change it from Markdown, to HTML

Now, you’re going to want to keep this tab open, and set up your sidepage!

NOTE: If you are using the beta editor, you may require some extra steps to clean up your code! Read more here.

Setting Up Your Sidepage

Now you can create your new page. You can do so by going to Customize and then clicking Add a page (I recommend using a sideblog for this as it can heavily clog your main blog, and if you ever change your main url, you can keep the url of your gif pages the same). 

After creating your new page, make sure to change it from a standard layout to a custom layout using the dropdown menu, then give the page a url. You cannot save the page until you add a url.

Okay, now for the next step, you can use any gif page code you’d like! I have a tag here with codes made by many different theme makers to choose from! If you’d like to use one of mine, you can find them here. Today I’ll be using my newest theme as an example. From the post, download the code and paste it into the page. It should look something like this.

Now you’re going to want to find the section to add your gifs. In my older codes, you would be able to find it looking something like this:

For this theme, however, I used placeholders because of the trigger warning feature. To figure out more on how to use that feature of the theme, please read the tutorial here. For the sake of this tutorial, however, you can DELETE THESE PLACEHOLDERS (highlighted by the blue box, make sure you keep the <p> and </p> tags).

Once those are deleted, you’re going to go back to your tab with your gifs and select everything after [ [ MORE ] ] , but before the </p> tag, then copy it.

Now, paste your code in between the <p> and </p> tags. Hit Update Preview to make sure it’s loading correctly. Every time you add gifs, make sure there are NO SPACES between the img links. (aka make sure those < ... alt=”image”><img src=”...> are back to back instead of < ... alt=”image”>    <img src=”...> leaving a space in between).

And that’s all! Make sure to change the other parts of the theme necessary (titles, fc info etc) and you’re good to go! Always make sure to hit save before you navigate away!!

hey hp rp + rpc tags ! i’m popping by to make a public service announcement / callout ? regarding blatant plagiarism from the admin of @impiushq​. so far, i’ve discovered the plagiarism in question taking place in two rps under the details ELENI / ADMIN E, 18, est, she / her (  o worm#5862 on discord ). i have no idea whether it goes further than this, but where my initial concern was simply my creative property having been swiped and used in another rp, i’ve since discovered that eleni was brave enough to open her OWN rp at the above url knowing full well that her ‘interpretation’ of her character was stolen, and i think the rpc should know exactly who they’re shouting out and supporting by joining her rp. anyway. onwards with the necessary info, right ?

so the first penny drop was when i saw that petrificushq had a lily evans on an activity check with a martyr related url ( @mcrtyris​ ) which at first was just SUPER funny to me, since i play a lot with the theme of lily being a ‘little martyr’ and have used it in the past as blog title, playlist title, label, etc. i opened the blog and immediately felt as if... the layout to everything was very similar to my own and that the use of a theme made by the same person who made a previous one of mine ( subsequently changed due to the fact that it came out the themes had all been stolen, but i digress ) was... weird. fast forward to me knowing with complete certainty everything they used on that blog was stolen from me, i messaged the rp to let them know and began to search the marauders rp tags on the off chance they had taken my lily elsewhere, since they were on an activity check in that rp.

here’s the thing : i’d like for this to be the ONLY instance i had to screenshot, but as it turns out, it’s not. so stick with me, please ! 

the search ended at @impiushq​, which is an rp RUN by eleni. in it, she’s playing lily evans ( @puermiles​ ) - once again with my information. it was one thing to take my bio to another rp, but it’s another thing ALTOGETHER to open a roleplay with my information for your singular character, and it seemed to me that eleni got braver when she was finally in a space created by herself : my tag system, my musing posts, even character development things i did were taken there. 

i couldn’t work out the best way to go about this, so while i do in fact HAVE screenshots and all of eleni’s information copied and pasted to google documents in case she deletes her blogs, i’m choosing just to link the major instances because frankly : its a LOT, and all of it was stolen. screenshots just won’t do, here. i’ve gone with the oldest google doc i actually own of this information ( last edited june 17th ) because i want you all to know that my lily predated eleni’s by MANY weeks, and i’d be happy contact the first rp i was apart of with her for the may timestamp of my application, lmao. my lily potter blog has always been @flevrdelis, currently privated. the two blogs of eleni’s where she is using my information are @mcrtyris​ & @puermiles. as of now, you can view both. if they go down, i will still have screenshots & copies of both, so eleni : there’s no point in removing the proof of your plagiarism in hopes of it not being seen.

look : as a wise individual has since said to me... the level of no concern that she has of the consequences for this to do it TWICE is baffling. the fact she could KNOWINGLY steal my writing ( because whatever the excuse, your finger doesn’t just slip for you to steal so much information directly from someone ) in one rp was bad enough, but that she went on to create her own and think it would never come out is... shocking. my lily potter / evans is a carefully crafted character that i’m attached to for a lot of reasons, but most especially because she’s the only character in recent years i attached so much personal information to. she’s formed out of people and situations specific to my family and me, and it’s FUNNY, but it’s also absolutely shocking behaviour. this is illegal. i don’t OWN the rights to lily potter, but i own absolutely EVERYTHING that went into her. eleni, this is illegal. it’s shockingly bad, disgusting, HORRID behaviour, but it’s also illegal, and you should absolutely be aware of that. 

obviously, i would like first and foremost an apology from eleni for this. an explanation. absolutely anything at all. but second to that, i’d really appreciate the rpc seeing this and making sure that MY creative property isn’t taken to another space yet again by this person.

Late 30′s, chronically ill but still working adult with neurodivergence. I’m both busy and Busy, and always sick. This limits my brain power and ability to be here. I was told I should take the high road. I should just accept that Hillary refuses to speak with me again. I shouldn’t expect answers from someone who won’t give them - has never given them. At the same time, I don’t feel like I can genuinely let this go without talking about it in a format that isn’t DMs.

This is really long, sorry? But I wanted to get all of it out because I want to be free of it, I don’t want it to keep being an ache in my heart whenever I think about it.

I met Hillary in a group called @/heroesrpg in about 2012. While I was there, I operated under two pseudonyms: Miranda/Isa and Bea. The why for that is a long story. I have nothing negative to say about Hillary here! She was a great friend who taught me a lot about writing and challenged me to become a better writer. I don’t think I would have gotten this far without writing with her. When I left heroes in about 2013, we didn’t keep in touch. I didn’t really stay in the RP world so I didn’t pay attention to it.

In 2014, I was invited to join Ashbourne at her behest. I don’t recall the specifics of how I found it, I think it was simply me reaching out to her again and finding out she was in a group which she invited me to join, too. I ended up playing a woman named Nadeya Khan who was in a ship with her that was later discarded. Later I picked up Shiloh Morgan, the best friend of her character, Adam, and later Mira Lowell, the elder sister of her character Meyer.

I won’t lie, these dynamics were a lot of fun and I enjoyed playing them.

I was upset that my ship with Nadeya and Adam was discarded (I have a distaste for Adam and the FC Ben/edict Cumberba/tch now, I’m petty, sue me), but I think it was more sucky when all threads with them trickled to a halt. To me, it felt like my character was no longer important because it wasn’t a ship, even if a friendship dynamic would have been just as interesting. I ignored this feeling.

I was sad to leave the group, but I was uncomfortable with an interaction from another player and feeling pushed aside in favor of other ships so I made the decision to leave.

I did keep in touch with Hillary, or I attempted to, but once we were no longer in a group together, we just sorta drifted. We didn’t talk for the longest time here and I forgot her url for a long time. Frankly, I’m not sure how I found it again!

We started interacting again in about September 2018 when I think I reached out to her. This eventually ended with the creation of @lethe-rpg where we could write about old time favorite characters - and we wrote so much in Lethe’s run. Everything from romances, to long-lost parent, to siblings, to best friends, to unrequited loves. We wrote nearly twenty characters each and over ten ships in the time Lethe ran from September/October 2018 to June 2020 when it closed. Or, I should say, we wrote all of these things in theory and a lot of it happened behind the scenes in DM’s between us. When we did write things, they would frequently reach only a reply or two before we had to move onto the next one because she didn’t want to finish the one before. I’ll fully admit that I found this frustrating after a while - but I found it difficult to say no to her about anything, or to speak out against her.

Not only was she my friend, but I very much looked up to her. I considered her a mentor as much as a friend, and her approval meant a lot to me. It meant agreeing with dynamics I didn’t enjoy

pushing for a ship between my character Wesley and ANY of hers. Even if it was already mentioned to her that I had an ongoing connection with another character. If I tried to make this dynamic a friendly connection instead, it was promptly dropped altogether.

trying to get a ship between Gemma and Nate when I mentioned point blank that I didn’t want a pre-planned romantic thing with him after his other one failed.

the fact that Gemma and Lily didn’t get like any interactions completed together until I relented a little on Gemma/Nate. Any mention of them was largely forgotten. Half the time, Lily was treated like a child who hadn’t experienced any pain. Not just from Gemma, but from Gabe and from Hillary herself, who seemed to think that my young FC meant nothing compared to the history I had written for this character. Lily in general was ignored until she brought Lachlan along and prodded him into a ship with Lily. Do you know how many starters I wrote on Lily that were ignored?

the fact that Pat/Kate were the oldest ship in the group but they had like one completed thread the entire time lol.

the fact that Odette/Kate were the oldest family dynamic in the group who had like three NOTES between them.

the fact that Odette/Orion became a ship later who were just... never written. I can be honest now, I found them boring and I’m wondering if she felt the same, or if the lack of writing made me dislike them. Either way, Orion became a drain on my Odette muse, just as the lack of Kate/Odette was.

most stuff with Odette makes me sad. I feel like I had really good connections for her that... didn’t work out, and maybe I took to long to address it.

Mira/Andreas is a dynamic I blame myself on. I did feel sorta like I wasn’t getting anything written with her old ship, and I think me and the mun were drained on it, so while Mira was on hiatus and the mun for her last ship, Clark, was debating letting him go/killing him off, I didn’t mind discussing a new ship. I wanted this ship to be a slow burn, I wanted proper closer on the last one because it was a good ship and the mun is a good friend. This was handled with so little tact on her part, we were instantly hitting ship dynamics from the beginning and I found it callous. I dragged out replies just to avoid it. A shame, because I loved the dynamic, but the way it was handled put a bad taste in my mouth

she wanted an August/Delilah ship? Which I didn’t really want, but she’s really good at convincing you bit by bit that it’s a great idea. When I finally jumped onto this ship and flung myself into it, we got like two notes into it and nothing. Are you seeing the theme yet?

I got nothing against Arthur/Cora because I loved writing them, the only thing I did dislike is how rushed they were and how little I got to explore some of the Riverborn aspects of Arthur’s story with Cora. Also a pregnancy happened hella fast.

But I did have something against the Meadowes dynamic altogether: we had so many pieces of it to use that were never written. I failed sometimes on my part, but a lot of it was Hillary getting easily distracted by something else. Cora/Faolan were rarely written beyond the first reply to a thread. Gabe/Faolan were often two notes in and done. Faolan/Alistair lasted a bit longer, I was impressed. Gemma/Lily was mentioned above, but I’ll also mention how often she tried to take pieces of Faolan’s history and twist it to be her character’s pain without any consideration to previously discussed lore or connections. It wasn’t even about a connection anymore - it was about making her character the focal point. Look at how the Daniel Bisset, Aurelie, and Gabe things turned out: half of the plots were twisted to benefit Gabe’s momentum in the story, and the pieces of angst that should rightly lingered on Aurelie were shifted to the side. I didn’t even write that ship, and sometimes looking at them made me feel like a discarded sweater, but they were cute. Anyhow, this is long, moving on.

Faolan/Saby. I literally almost forgot about them, but like... Legit, I’m glad this ship ended because Saby was wholly too dependent on Faolan’s feelings for her, which he couldn’t even acknowledge because he was still in love with his two centuries deceased wife. Was this handled gracefully, did we get to slow-burn some of their stuff in writing? Sometimes. But again, they weren’t really written, and the ship was pushed and pushed, even when I wasn’t really interested in writing it because I didn’t want a ship for him yet.

Aliza/Tien was twisted out of me piece by piece, prodding at the parts of the Aliza/James connection I found uncomfortable (like the murder, like how difficult it was to plot after a point) until Tien seemed like the best answer. This was late enough into Lethe that I woke up enough to cut the ship off and drop the dynamic. In hindsight, I regret letting this even get so far.

Jonas. Just... most of the things written with him lol because he was constantly pushed onto my characters and others. Jo was hinted as a thing, Wesley was hinted as a thing, I think Nate was at one time. It definitely opened my eyes to the fact that she wanted a ship and that dynamics outside of that were largely ignored.

Do you know what it was like to put your heart into a character / story that was ignored ENTIRELY because she didn’t ship with them? Do you know what its like to be excited about a friendship or sibling or parental dynamic that... stopped getting written because your friend only wrote the character for a ship and the next shiny thing attracted her attention and instead of letting the character go, she made you think the next reply was right around the corner? Do you know how many threads we wrote that didn’t go anywhere, and how thrilled I was to write them still because I thought each time it would be different?

TL;DR: if it wasn’t a ship dynamic, it wasn’t written. If it was a ship dynamic, it was sometimes written. If you weren’t doing any of those things, you were ignored.

TL;DR 2: Do not misread this, please. I understand that RL comes first, I understand that dynamics change, that you’re allowed to change your mind. But do you realize how often I was strung along, or how often I was shoved aside? How hard it was to keep a character going sometimes because their big connection was only important for about a week?

when we wrote a ship between Selene/Gabe which was later discarded for a ship with Aurelie which had a much better chemistry, but was handled with little tact for my own feelings as I received constant updates on how their ship progressed, and also how the friendship we developed between Selene and Gabe was just dropped altogether - as it was with Adam/Nadeya so many years ago - instead of revamped to fit a changed dynamic as we discussed ooc.

when I would message her and be ignored unless it was about one of our ships

like the fact that I became an admin in Lethe to help her out and eventually the burdens of handling it were on my shoulders. I don’t mind this, but when it came to asking her for help on simple matters (sending me the psd for banners when I switched computers and no longer had it, posting a bio, skimming a post so I could verify it was okay to post, plotting out future events, posting unfollows/follows for people) or asking if she could write something from an admin post, getting a “sure! I’ll do that later!” and then finding out it wasn’t done for a week until I sucked it up and did it myself. We addressed this eventually, but Lethe ended shortly afterwards. 

So. That’s how the last two years have gone, and lord knows how much I’ve forgotten. Hillary and I wrote so much over the last two years, and we definitely grew close. I thought we were beyond just writing friends, that we might have been real friends (after all, we sent christmas/birthday gifts to each other. Hell, I still use the mouse pad she gave me).

I ignored the way she ignored me if we weren’t writing something interesting. I ignored the way she didn’t care about my characters even passively until I shipped with her in some form. I ignored how it felt when entire sections of a back and forth DM was ignored if she didn’t care about the character. I ignored how she refused to write with other people because she disliked their FC, or she didn’t want to write with the mun, or she found the character boring. Half the time, she found a character boring because she didn’t bother learning about them, and the moment she did read about them, they were intriguing. I ignored how she belittled my other ships with other players because “oh I don’t think they click” or “imo that one is boring” or tried to poach those characters to one of her ships. I ignored how she made me feel like a part-time friend sometimes and her best friend other times. 

I ignored the way she didn’t help with admin problems even when she knew admin duties were taking a toll on me as people demanded more and more from me. Not even when we discussed ways to handle things on both our parts to make it easier and promptly ignored them the first chance she got.

She made me feel so important when we would headcanon things. It felt like my characters were important, and that I was a good writer with clever ideas and intriguing characters, and that writing her was reaching a pinnacle that others couldn’t reach. She never said this, I’ll give her credit for that, but I have to admit, I felt like my characters didn’t work out unless I had a connection with her.

The last few months were eye opening. I had already spent the last year frustrating from her lack of leadership as an admin, and anger for the way she ignored people’s feelings even when it was pointed out and gave the bare minimum when interacting with other people, and sadness for the fun dynamics we had discussed but never wrote beyond the posted biography. When Lethe ended, I was ready to let it go and move on, I said my peace about my admin things and letting the characters go meant a fresh start. To me, we were friends REGARDLESS OF BEING IN A GROUP TOGETHER OR WRITING TOGETHER. You don’t talk about ooc things and ic things as much as we did only to stop talking the instant you’re done writing together, right?

Wrong. She didn’t even help us close the group that she created, or helped us discuss things with members who weren’t sure what was happening. I gave her time, just short messages about random things because I wanted her to know that I didn’t hold Lethe’s end against her, that we were friends anyway. Those messages were ignored. I gave her more time and then after nearly a month or maybe two, I finally messaged her on tumblr with a brief snippet on how thankful I was to know her because she helped me as a writer, and apologized if I implied Lethe ending was her fault (which I still agree that it wasn’t entirely, it was a situation handled callously and frankly I still think people should have considered that Hillary was barely 3% of the admin team at the time since Ally and I were shouldering the burdens of everything else). I mentioned how I felt like our friendship was being ignored because we weren’t writing together, and how I had thought after nearly two years of talking that we were friends enough to chat once in a while at least, but if we are only RP friends, let me know so at least I don’t have to fucking think about it.

Do you think that got a response?

It didn’t. She didn’t log into discord to chat about it or something else, she didn’t respond to the message, nothing. She quietly unfollowed me and then blocked me. She unfriended me on facebook, I feel like that’s answer enough.

I’ve known her at least eight years and while some of those times were brief, the last two years were most certainly not. And not only does it make me angry that I’ll never know whether she just dislikes me, or whether I made her uncomfortable, or what, I’m also just... really upset that I lost an eight year friendship. There’s only one person I know longer than her and I had hoped that, if not real friends, then we would still be able to meet up in another group together someday. Now it’ll never happen again, and it devastates me. I can count my friends on one hand and I thought, you know, that she was one of them. It feels like a physical blow whenever something comes up on the dash that involves her. I feel so stupid for thinking we were friends when she showed me her priorities in Ashbourne, when she showed me in little pieces here and there throughout Lethe. I feel stupid for writing this entire thing and crying about it. I feel stupid for assuming.

And I don’t know how to talk about this in a way that’ll let me say goodbye to it because I do need to let it go, but I’m afraid that if I do, I’ll lose my ability to write because she’s been such a big part of the writing journey for me.

So here it is. Eight years of friendship summed up in however long this is and here I am, trying to let go - and still a little part of me hopes she’ll see it and reach out about something, anything. And a bigger part that’s angry and doesn’t want to talk to her ever again because I don’t want to do this another time.

tl;dr:

I miss my friend Hillary, but also she’s kind of a shitty friend who only seems to care about people when they are writing with her and I’m an idiot for thinking anything else when I’ve had eight years to learn it. Likely if she did find this post, it’ll be misinterpreted in every way until I’m not only an idiot, but also I’m a bully who didn’t give her time and space, who pushed things on her she didn’t want, who she pitied. Because it just occurred to me now how easily she can warp the truth, how she can prod things bit by bit, until it fits just how she wants things to look that’ll benefit her the most. I love my friend, but I’m done. No matter how much I miss her, I deserve more than to be the butt of whatever joke she wants to say to make this sound cool.

Which muse(s) is/are your favourite(s)?

I’ve really really enjoyed Seth since creating them; Divali and Selene have special places in my hearts from how long I’ve had them (along with Kitae & Anthea).

Which muse(s) do you wish had more interactions?

Kitae, Kiha, Juno, Haru and Sodapop honestly. Kitae in particular, as the muns he has interactions with are on hiatus at the moment.

Name a muse you have written in the past. What was your favourite thing about this muse?

I’ve written Heejoon, Selene, Divali, Anthea, Ivon and Kitae before. My particular favorite thing about Heejoon though is how his personality contradicts what his FC looks like. People look at BYG and his comeback concepts and often just assume he’s going to be this hardass dom who’s going to be aggressive and curt. And then I turn him into a gentle giant who feels like he’s far, far too big for his soul. 

Name a muse you wish to write in the future. What’s your favourite thing about this muse?

I’m excited to write Nari honestly. She’s a horror writer who killed her husband and I just wanna sort of.. deal with the paranoia that she has that comes with trying not to get caught. 

How is your multimuse blog organised?

I make sure every muse has their own reply tag for people to find replies easier and I make sure to tag urls so people can find threads between us better. I try to keep general tags like plots, starters and images under a single tag so that people can block a tag if I post too much. Mostly for images – multimuses that have an image tag for each muse that post a lot of photos are ones I often don’t follow, just because I can’t block that many tags and don’t wanna waste my time doing so.

Do you have crossover verses for the muses on your blog?

Uhhh I’m not sure what this means? All of my muses are in the same universe; some just haven’t encountered the supernatural underground that exists. Certain muses are friends, like Dohyun & Kitae, Anthea & Selene, etc.

Which of your muses deserves better?

So many of them tbh. Definitely Cassidy, Ivon, Benji and Kitae though, the most.

Which of your muses do you most identify with? Why?

Probably Kiha. We’re both transmasc and there’s a lot of things that go with it. He’s sort of where I wish my life would end up drifting towards, at least in the comfort he has with his body and having had top surgery.

If you could change the faceclaim for any of you muses, would you do it?

I’m happy with FCs I have for the most part! The Kiha fc change was so much better and honestly feels much better than the face he had before.

Do you have any original characters on your multimuse? If so, tell us something more about them.

All of my muses are OCs, though some of them I do draw in my spare time and a small handful of them will be incorporated into a couple of graphic novels I have in mind in the future. Anthea for example, the diner she runs in the story I plan on putting her in is kind of like the HP room of requirement. It shows up to whoever needs an ear or something hot to eat.

I have 19 listed but will be adding 3 over the coming week or two, so probably gonna try and cap at 22 for awhile.

I don’t consider myself part of a fandom. I enjoy kpop and the music and think the people are gorgeous, but I don’t consider myself in any fandom. I’d rather avoid some of the negative associations that claiming to be part of them bring on

Don’t write in fandoms, not applicable. I mostly stick to KRP though because it’s what I entered in when I was a teen and is what I started tumblr rp in. It’s familiar hence me staying.

KRP, though now I don’t consider myself part of the fandom. I listen to any good music that comes my way but I don’t follow groups or people. On occasion I check the news, but that’s every month or two and when something big happens. 

What is your favourite thing when you decide to add a new muse to your blog/when you decide to make a new blog?

I get excited for the plots I have in my head or writing out the open starters. The potential interactions I can get with them is often what leads me to add a muse idea.

Share an opinion you have about multimuse blogs.

I enjoy them for the variety that can exist and the possibilities that they come with. I do think there is at least a partial right way to do them, if only for organization’s sake. Years ago I had people tell me that they liked my multi but not most other people’s because I was organized with my tags and such while often times other people weren’t. I think organization has become much more prevalent in multis which is great ! and therefore the quality of the blogs and popularity of them have increased substantially.

Does your multimuse blog have a theme? Do the muses on your blog have something in common?

Nope, not really. I tried a themed multi a couple of times over the years but I can never stick to a theme.

What is the story or explanation behind your blog name?

I was thinking of ‘sweet menagerie ’ but the definition of menagerie didn’t fit. So I looked up some M names and found marzipan, which i thought would work. I like it honestly

hello sien! i was just wondering if you had any guides about how to create a rph blog? i've wanting to make one but i don't really know how to start

❞ HI LOVELY !! I think I have written some tips and tricks on it before -- but I cannot really find it back on my blog right now so I can just give you some quick pointers, dear. Honestly, it’s not that much work, really ?? Let me try and give some quick and easy steps on ‘ STARTING A RPH BLOG ‘, darling:

CREATE A BLOG + FIND A URL : this step probably speaks for itself. there’s no rph without a blog, of course !! as for the url, some people prefer to use ‘ rph ‘ in their url, some prefer a url that refers to a celebrity or show or something they are a fan of ( and if the full name has been taken already, try changing e’s in c’s or u’s in v’s -- stuff like that always works nowadays ). but, going for a simple url with ‘ rph ‘ or ‘ rpc ‘ in it is always the clearest and easiest if you ask me !!

PICK A MASCOT : a mascot is always nice to have as a bit of a trademark, if you like ?? if you’d like to use a mascot, just pick someone you like, someone who isn’t problematic, someone you feel comfortable with... 

PICK A THEME : if you want to run a rph blog, it’s always a good idea to pick a theme that is easy to navigate -- often fansite themes are a good idea. but any theme will work, as long as it is easy to navigate on ( clear font, nothing too small, visible links, a nice navigation... ). if you aren’t good with graphs and stuff, you can always opt for asking for a theme makeover.

CREATE A ‘ WHAT I DO ‘ : once you got the basics set out, it’s important to figure out what you want to offer the roleplay community -- do you want to stick to the basics by doing shoutouts, fc help, name help, admin help and reblogging useful resources OR do you want to offer theme makeovers, graphic help, make gifs, create masterlists and guides etc... just look at your skillset, what you enjoy doing/creating ( because it’s important you enjoy what you do, of course !! this is still relaxation and leisure time. don’t pressure yourself into doing things you don’t enjoy doing, really !! ). then, put everything you want to offer in a nice list on your blog so the community knows what they can come to you for.

HIT THE TAGS : now, once your blog is set and ready to go, it’s important to get your blog out there. hit the tags ( i’d recommend to use some popular tags, just to spread your name a bit, such as ‘ rph, rpt, appless rp, rpc ‘ ) by posting promo’s regularly ( setting up a queue is definitely a good idea to keep your blog active and out there ) or asking for a little shoutout from fellow rph’s !! 

NEVER GIVE UP : getting your blog out there might be a task, and it keep in mind your blog might not get full attention from the get go. but that’s normal, and it’s okay !! you need to just not give up, darling, keep getting your blog out there and remind the rpc what you have to offer. once you get your first requests, you’re on the roll. even though things might develop/grow slowly in the beginning, if you remain dedicated you’ll get there, darling !! i am convinced of that. so yeah, don’t give up -- just keep doing what you like to do, keep creating, keep getting your blog out there.

GIF PACK POLL RESULTS !

so, as you’ve probably seen over the last few days if you follow me, i posted a survey a few days ago about gif packs and people’s relationships with reblogging them. i mostly posted it out of curiosity, as i’d noticed a few patterns over the years and wanted to see what some actual, physical data would look like, and the lovely @stevienick pointed out that the results would be useful for fellow gif makers, so here we are ! i wasn’t sure if anybody would respond, so thank you to everybody who did & a very big thank you to everybody who boosted the post ! i’m very grateful ♡

it might be easier to view the results if you add /mobile to the end of the url, as i know a contained theme can squish things sometimes ! i’m gonna talk about the results of each question a little, but of course you are more than free to ignore my ramblings and just observe for yourself, and you can ctrl +f to the questions if you’re looking for results for a specific one !

DO YOU REBLOG GIF PACKS?

i looked at how the results were doing whenever i had a free moment when the survey was up, and i think i ended up checking on it about eight or so times in that time, and in the first twelve hours or so, ‘i will like but not reblog’ had no votes, so it’s very interesting to me that as time went on and more people responded, this changed ! while the other questions are helped by the poll only being taken by people that do interact with gif packs in terms of notes, i do wish maybe a couple of people who won’t like, reblog, etc no matter what, had responded, but i’m glad they didn’t as that means that people ( or at least those people who filled out the survey ) are following gif makers’ rules, and that’s fantastic. 

WHY WOULD YOU REBLOG A GIF PACK?

i feel like i want to start everything with ‘this was really interesting, because...’ but it all was ! i found everything really interesting, especially watching the majorities change over time, but something specifically that i found myself thinking Hmm,,, Inch Resting™ while observing, was the most popular responses shifting and changing over time. admittedly, for some reason, i wasn’t expecting so many people to admit to reblogging a gif pack of a person they’ve never seen before just because they’re attractive, and i don’t know why, as there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that ! it just surprised me ! but, unsurprisingly, the results show that the vast majority of people are more likely to reblog a gif pack of a fc they like, and that makes nothing but sense to me. i do love, though, that the vast majority of people just want to show appreciation for the work put into gif packs. 

the ‘other’ responses:

the ‘i wouldn’t’ confused me for half a second, but i’m assuming it came from one of the people who said they like the gif packs but don’t reblog them -- in hindsight, i definitely should’ve included an ‘n/a’ option ! to find later is a very valid answer, and i think i should’ve included that in ‘because i want to use the gifs’ -- i think those responses are similar enough to be included in the same umbrella, so i’d just image the yellow bar being a little bit longer, and the percentages going up a smidgen, if you’re wanting to use this data to your advantage. to spread awareness of more fc’s is definitely an option i should’ve included in hindsight ! lots of gif makers make wonderful gifs of people the rpc may not know all that much about, so signal boosting them and letting the world know they have resources is a great reason to reblog a pack, and works nicely as a ‘hey there’s no excuse for not having diversity in your rp, look at this cute person with nice gifs’ and i definitely hadn’t thought of that when typing up the questions !

WHERE DO YOU FIND THE GIF PACKS YOU REBLOG?

i should’ve worded this better, by acknowledging that ‘likes’ also count here, but it seems as though those who said they like but don’t reblog got the gist of what i was going for, and answered that way for me anyway. basically, what i meant by this one was ‘if you’re interacting with a gif pack, where did you find it?’ 

anyway, unsurprisingly, the vast majority of people find gif packs either on their dash, or in the tags, and i feel like a lot of us take this into consideration when posting our packs. more people are going to see the post if it’s posted on a friday or saturday evening, than 11am on a tuesday, even with timzeones taken into consideration, and we use that knowledge to our advantage already.

the end result was nothing surprising, i don’t think. i think the limit of having five functioning tags is a little limiting when trying to get packs out there. i usually tag ‘#fc name gif hunt #fc name gif pack #gif pack #rph’ and then a wildcard. sometimes it’s the fc’s name, and i try and make an educated-guess-type-of-judgement on whether that one’s a good idea. sometimes it’s another one of the rpc tags. this question is one of the ones that i was really glad i included an ‘other’ option, as i think they’re very useful for the most part. 

the ‘other’ responses:

tags like gmcentral and gifpackshq are great because they can be used by anybody, and after seeing the results, i’m wondering if i personally might swap out some of my usual tags in favour of them ! tags such as tasksweekly and gifpacknetwork are wonderful, and we know to use them when applicable. i do love that all four of those tags are being used even by the people who aren’t running those blogs associated with them, in favour of finding more resources. i didn’t know that people still actively searched for faces and gif packs in tags like ‘underused fc’ -- and any tags like that -- so that one was super interesting, and definitely something i’m going to think about ! and while i like that people are using icons ( i love me a good rp icon, don’t get me wrong ) this poll is specifically about gif packs, so do with that data what you will. 

WHAT INFORMATION TO FIND YOU FIND HELPFUL WHEN INCLUDED IN THE POST?

i know i said i’d practically be saying this for every one, but this was really interesting. it’s also another time when i think that hindsight is wonderful, because i think now i should’ve included a question asking how often someone will click the link to view the gifs, and if it’s only if they plan on using them, or they might click the link to see what the others look like beyond the preview before reblogging, but close the page after a few have loaded and they can see that everything looks fine, etc. the reason i say this now, is because i know that some people include this information on the page the gifs are stored on, but not in the post, and i’m wondering if it makes a difference. however, the question did ask what information is helpful in the post, so i’m going to keep that in mind when looking at the results. i think this is one of the questions hat i found most helpful to me personally, as i don’t include the the three most popular results in the post. the second and third most popular, i include on the gif page, but i don’t put any of the top three in the post, and i should think about changing that. 

the ‘other’ responses:

it was when the ‘others’ started rolling in that i realised that i should’ve worded the question better. it should’ve been ‘what extra information do you find helpful...’ and i’m glad some folks pointed it out, as i deem trigger/content warnings to be a necessity. to me, the basic information would be name of the fc, how any gifs are in the pack, the source material, and then any content warnings, and anything else is just extra information, but i didn’t say that, so i’m very glad people mentioned trigger warnings and the number of gifs in a pack - thank you ! 

WHAT’S YOUR PREFERRED METHOD OF ACCESSING THE GIFS IN A PACK?

for quite a while, a download link had absolutely no votes -- in the end, it only got four, but it’s nice to know that people do still use them ! other than that, i don’t think this one was at all surprising, but still helpful to see it written down.

this one was fascinating. nearly half of people only reblog gif packs of fcs they like, lots of people care more about bumping faces of colour and nb and/or trans fcs than plus sizes or disabled ones, lots more people admitted to being more inclined to reblog a gif pack if they find the fc attractive than i thought would, and the number of people saying that they’re not more likely to reblog younger fcs than older was a lot less than i thought --- i’m sure i’m not the only one who’s noticed that gif packs of younger faces tend to get more notes than those of older, even if you take out any other variables that could skew that number. all very interesting results, and results i think we’ll all find useful. it’s also nice to see that people tend to care more about accessibility than about aesthetics, with more people having an ‘upper size limit’ for gifs than having a lower one, and it’s nice that 93% of people are fine with reblogging gifs of people they’ve never heard of and opening themselves up to new faces !

DO YOU MAKE GIF PACKS?

so i added this one on the end to see if the results would differ based on whether the person responding makes gifs ( in my head, i was wondering if gif makers are more likely to seek out other people’s gifs to reblog to support other gif makers, and things like that ! ) so it’s very interesting and helpful to know that, while not equal, there’s a good chunk on both ends of the spectrum, and some folks in the middle who make gifs but not packs, or edit gifs into gif icons. 

end of results ! if anybody wants to talk about anything to do with the above info, or has any questions, i’m more than happy to chat ! i think i’m going to use some of this information in the future, and hopefully it’s helpful to fellow gif makers out there ! i don’t want to be too ‘in conclusion...’ about all of this, but i do just want to say that it’s very interesting to see written down, with actual evidence, that there are a lot of factors into why someone may or may not reblog a gif pack, and why some packs do better than others ( obviously, a gif pack posted by someone with 1000 followers will do better than someone with 100, even if it’s of the same quality and posted at the same time; more people are going to see it. but i mean more stripping it back to the things we can control like tags used and the layout of the post etc ) and i think if i were to do this again, there are things i’d add ( maybe preference for number of gifs previewed on the post, size/dimensions preference, and things like that ? ) and things i’d clarify, but in general i’m really pleased with how insightful this has been, and if i say interesting one more time i think i may combust, but it legitimately has all been very interesting. again, thank you very much to everyone who responded, and i hope others find this helpful or at least interesting !

icon & url: so, right off the bat, you have me wondering what forty applies to. is it a street address ? a reference to something, e.g. the number of muses involved ? some other cryptic plot point ? coupled with the icon ( which also gives nothing away ) it has me intrigued enough to want to click through.

first impressions & graphics: bruh, i love this colour scheme ! minty greens are so underused and underappreciated. the psd you’ve picked for the sidebar works really wonderfully with it, plus jeff goldblum is an Icon™ – as is billy porter – oh, and mahershala ali ?? y’all are just ticking all the boxes right here !! if i have to be picky, i would say this theme feels pretty small for an rp main and maybe the tab image doesn’t fit the colour scheme quite as well as it could, but overall it’s still super appealing and definitely gives a calming vibe, which fits the plot !

plot: aaaand now i get the url – and i love it ! town rps may not be my cup of tea, but i feel that the age range for your group really sets you apart and adds another level of interest. like i’ve seen a few 25+ or 28+ groups, but never 40+, which is a shame, bc that age group really opens up a whole new world of characters that are usually relegated to being npcs. i dig it.

rules: very extensive. nothing ambiguous, too, which is good; everyone knows where they stands on all aspects of the group.

application: pretty standard for an appless group. gotta say, i enjoy the opinion part; pretty refreshing to see. might be an idea to stick a link to the submit / ask on the app page, just for ease !

other pages: really loving the ‘tour the town’ page !!! it’s so extensive and has so much muse-giving potential. i’m starting to get ideas, myself ! your wanted fcs page is also thorough, but it does include a few fcs i would outright ban ( priyanka chopra, eddie redmayne, and michael fassbender, to name a few ). some have some very serious strikes against their names, so i would think extremely hard about including them.

things to double check: the spelling of “tradigy”[sic] in the plot. the ‘residents’ page has “applications” written on the headers. the ‘character ideas’ and ‘example applications’ links on the navigation go nowhere. “poc fc” on the ‘wanted fcs’ page should be fc of colour, as poc is not an adjective. finally, i’m strongly against binary trans fcs being lumped with nonbinary fcs; if you must separate by gender ( which i advise against ) trans men should be in the male section and trans women should be in the female section. i understand it’s for ease of finding them, but consider a marker like an asterisk instead. also, sticking trans/nb faces at the bottom of the list isn’t helpful in promoting gender diversity. 

summary: overall, this is a really nice and novel group, with a lot of potential ! for me, the issues with the wanted fc list means that i cannot, in good faith, recommend you guys, but i’d happily do so if that was changed. best of luck !

absolutely !  enclosed is my full opinion of @8thrp​. please keep in mind that i am just one person with one set of opinions, so please don’t take anything i say personally or at face value. if you have any questions or clarification, don’t hesitate to ask !

        FIRST IMPRESSIONS ( ICON, URL & MOBILE THEME ) — from the get go i’m intrigued. i absolutely adore your icon; i think it’s clear and easy to read but equally eye catching. it stands out !  your url is short, to the point, and memorable – i love it. your mobile theme is simple, which is very good ! my only suggestion would be to lighten either the background or your title text; as it stands they’re a touch too contrasting for my old lady eyes.

        THEME — love it !  your colour scheme is understated but elegant. i love the pastels paired with the darker brown/greys. i’m very particular when it comes to container themes, but i think the one you have suits your group well ! the container is slightly off centre on my screen – i’m not sure if that’s a bug or a feature, and i don’t terribly mind it, but it is something to be aware of !  i know that some people might find it distracting. i do absolutely adore the customisation you’ve made to the theme, particularly the nav page. very intuitive and aesthetically pleasing !  

        PLOT — the first thing that struck me was the length, and i think it’s perfect !  i find both too-short and unnecessarily lengthy plot pages to be turn-offs, and i think you’ve toed the line quite nicely. seattle absolutely owns my heart and soul, and from what i know/have seen of the city it seems like the absolute perfect location for this kind of group. i think it would be a nice addition to maybe touch on which neighbourhood 8th & grand is in, since i know the pockets of seattle have so much personality. not mandatory, of course, but i think it would add some depth and maybe give your players something to use in threads, too ! 

        RULES — as an initial skim i think your rules have good length to them. with a closer look there are a few things that catch my eye: first, i notice you don’t post warnings as part of your activity check – or, if you do, it doesn’t say so in your rules. i think activity warnings are pretty integral, especially for someone who maybe doesn’t realise they need a hiatus until it’s too late. if you’re not already, i would highly suggest including them. now, i’m not sure how to feel about second characters not contributing to the cap. it seems like what you’re trying to enforce is a member cap of 40, not a character cap, in which case just say that !         some additional, personal preferences – i think you should specify when to use a read more (i.e. in the case of NSFW content), and i think you should make it clear what kind of consequence, if any, members will incur if they don’t tag triggers or NSFW content properly. i’m confused by your mention of smut with minors. if all the muns are 18+, who are the minors? characters? why would a character under 18 be living in an apartment complex? but you say in the next bullet that all characters must be 18+? i would suggest you omit the bullet on smut with minors entirely. it’s not relevant for this group, and just confusing. finally, i would suggest adding an additional bullet in your ooc section (or whichever you think fits best) about respecting both character and mun pronouns.

        APPLICATION — pretty standard for a semi-appless group !  i personally don’t see the appeal or need for aesthetics, but that’s a general opinion so feel free to disregard. when you ask for pronouns, cut out preferred – the use of someone’s should be mandatory, not a preference. i personally would cut out the activity section altogether. from my own admin experience it doesn’t really tell you much, as activity is subject to change in a moment’s notice and besides – who’s going to put down a 2/10, or say they won’t be dedicated ?

        ANYTHING ELSE — no complaints about banned fc page. i’m a little skeptical about the gossip blog, from personal experience, but you don’t have any posts there yet so i won’t comment further. the only thing i’m confused about are room assignments – the app only indicates floor, so are rooms going to be randomly assigned? will muns pick rooms after opening? since this isn’t, say, a school dorm where those things typically operate on random assignment, it’s something i’d want to be aware of before sending in an app. otherwise, i think this place looks great !  it’s clear the admin team put in a lot of work, and i really hope it thrives !

tldr; a few minor squicks aside i absolutely love what you’ve got going on ! this is a MAJOR REC from me and gosh, i’m even considering sending an app !

yes, ofc, i loved umbrella academy ! keep in mind that my opinion is simply that…my opinion ! everything i say is meant to be constructive and helpful and if you have any questions about anything, feel free to follow up ! please keep in mind that i’ve never done a traditional discord group rp , so my opinion may not completely reflect the etiquette, but i tried my best.

first impressions. for some reason, i got the impression that this might be an indie blog at first? maybe just the length of the url + the icon, then the promos you have posted are typical of the indie promo aesthetic, so is the theme. when you go on the page, there’s nothing that really says “rp” to me, but i honestly don’t know the general aesthetics of a discord rp main that people would expect. 

plot. this plot is definitely only accessible to those who know the show, but i imagine that is your intended audience. however, i would suggest giving some clear context: did the events of the show take place? where on the timeline are we? where are the hargreeves siblings at the start of this plot? how do the ocs get involved/learn of the hargreeves/join in on the fight? in general, i have a lot of questions about how this will work and play out and with a show that has so many timelines, you have to make it clear. it’s also important for people with original characters to understand their place in the plot, otherwise they won’t last or things can get confusing. additionally, since you’ll be playing eudora, it begs the question: do all ocs have to be gifted children? can there be characters outside of that, like characters in the organization that hazel and chacha work for, etc? 

graphics and theme. as i mentioned, nothing about this really screams “rp” to me. i would suggest getting a new theme that doesn’t make the images so small. it also makes the text size extremely small. i definitely recommend upping the text size and maybe changing the background so that there’s more going on or even centering the container. you could also try to find a theme that allows for some more text on it, since it’d be nice to let people know that this is a discord-based rp right off the bat! you could put that in the nav main with the general TUA intro. but generally, everything on this rp looks pretty small for the reader.

other stuff. 

most people don’t know how to discord rp, ESPECIALLY in a group. it’s nice that you’ve provided a little tutorial, but i can already see that it’s different than how i have done it. i suggest doing further tutorials or providing a little example thread? and do people rp in the dms or all on the server? more stuff like that.

when playing a canon character, can people use a different fc than on the show? i would address that question, perhaps in your rules, and most people have questions about “banned” fcs in general, so maybe “faceclaims” in general is a good idea for your rules section.

right now you have only a few wanted characters listed. i’d suggest adding some wanted fcs too, for people interested in ocs.

Name: Manon, but I’ve gone by the alias of Sae on the internet since I was about 12 or 13. It’s really stuck and caught on so much over the years that it’s as commonly used as Manon is, if not more (both online and offline). Age: 29.  Pronouns: She/her.  Sexuality: Hetero. Zodiac sign: Cancer.  Taken or single: Single.

Four Things About This Blog:

1. Still unsure of how this worked exactly, but I’d decided to make a blog for Jace before I’d ever read (or seen) anything about him directly. A friend of mine had been in the fandom and I’d heard about him through her, enough that I’d peeked at a few basic bits on the wiki. And then one morning I woke up with this intense yet unexplainable urge to make him, this character that I knew next to nothing about. I read the first three books within a week and then I decided to launch him. I’ve never had a muse arise to the occasion quite in this manner, but then again, isn't this Jace we’re talking about? Nothing about him follows the status quo.

2. If I’d picked up the books without ever having heard anything about any character in specific prior to reading, I would’ve still likely found myself drawn to Jace’s character— but I would’ve made a blog for Valentine instead. They both appeal to me for different reasons, but ultimately, I’m very glad that I made Jace and I don’t regret not having made a blog for Valentine for a single instant.

3. I’m an exceedingly opinionated person with very set norms/values and they definitely make their appearance within my OOC posts, and they’re not always popular opinions ‘round these here Tumblr parts by any means. However, I don’t let them influence my perspective when it comes to writing for Jace (or any of my muses). Of course, I may recognize some or many aspects, but I make it an effort and personal challenge to look at everything from as many angles as I can as to obtain the widest picture of any character’s behavior or any situation.

4. Despite them not being in full view as they used to be, my tags have been described as being the ‘arteries’ of my blog(s) and I couldn't possibly agree more. If you don’t read them, you’re easily missing out on 80/90% of my meta’ing. My posts tend to have some coherency to them, some logic, but in my tags you find my incoherency and that’s my heart and my passion. That’s where I’m most alive.

Three Mun Facts:

1. I recognize that I’m incredibly headstrong and it’s both my gift and curse. While it’s gotten me in the occasional trouble because I realize that I’m being too stubborn a bit too late, there have been and are a lot of moments where I’ve used it to my advantage and I profit from it immensely in numerous ways. So while I could condemn it as a flaw, it very much hits the extremes on both ends of the spectrum.

2. I’ve got fire for a heart, I’m not scared of the dark; you’ve never seen it look so easy. Okay, so two days ago, I had a day of massive cleaning. This always goes hand in hand with music playing, I sing and dance (of which I can only successfully do the latter). Youtube went through related videos, it somehow got to One Direction. I used to unfairly hate them on principle because I heard them everywhere and everyone loved them; in the same light, Harry Styles was always the one I disliked the most because he was everyone’s favorite. Since that day, I’ve listened to their non-Zayn stuff a fair bit and it’s catchy, I guess I’m a very late fan. All good. Nobody can drag me doooowwwwn.

3. A lot of my thick skin stems from being able to properly put the right weight to people’s words. And I'm able to do that because I value’s people’s actions infinitely more than I do their words. It’s so very easy to say or type ‘yes’ or ‘no’, but if your actions don’t reflect your state of mind or your statements, then I lose respect. We’re all guilty of falling short of this every now and again, myself included; we’re all human after all, but once or twice doesn’t equal constantly.

EXPERIENCE:

How’d you start: Tumblr back in August of 2012 is when I started in the world of RP’ing. I made Tatia Petrova from TVD (I went by the url herbloodlacedtheirwine). I never really dabbled much into the world of writing before that, except little snippets in early high school as to practice and try to further my English. Platforms you’ve used: Tumblr. Best experience: While the TMI/TSC fandom definitely has its bad apples and I’ve been in fandoms where things were consistently calmer, I do find my best experience to have been here because of specific individuals I’ve met while here. However, my Tumblr experience has overall been really good since my Ezio blog. I had a field day writing him and people seemed to really appreciate my input on his character. Beyond that, his blog was also from which I released my themes and I’ll forever remember all the positive feedback I've gotten on them. Despite this site not easily showing it, there are a lot of people with a heart of gold out there. Worst experience: I’ve never exactly found myself in a really bad situation that I can refer to it as the ‘worst’, as I tend to nip things in the bud but I’m also someone who mentally catalogs things quickly, it’s how I deal with things. That and awarding stuff the weight it deserves and not a shred more— numerous things that I use to generally avoid things from getting very bad or affecting me more than I want them to.

MUSE PREFERENCES:

Original or canon: Canon every time. Favourite face: Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Jamie Campbell Bower, Toby Regbo. Least favorite face: Actors or actresses that play the main protagonists in usually a show, as they tend to become over-used FCs.  Note: I have zero problem with these actresses or actors themselves, I just get tired of seeing everyone use them even outside of canon characters played by them. —To name a few examples in past and present: Nina Dobrev, Ian Somerhalder, Emilia Clarke, Katherine McNamara and Dominic Sherwood.  Multi or single: Running a multi isn't something for me, but I don’t mind writing with them in whatsoever way. Kudos and respect to multi muse blogs for having the mind to be so organized, though. I couldn't do it.

WRITING PREFERENCES:

Plots or memes: Plots, although I enjoy responding to memes on Jace as crack and light type of threads so fit him quite well, they’re a nice change from the immense angst that can be done in threads. Best time to write: I used to think the night, but looking back at threads and timestamps; apparently some of my strongest writing was done in the afternoon or early evening. Problem is, I don’t always have time to write a lot during those times. An issue? Yes, yes it is. Do you like your muse(s):  I rarely make new muses, when I do, there’s a reason. So yes. How long (months/years?): For my current blogs? Jace’s blog was created in November 2017. Francis was made... July 2017 and Ezio in May of 2016. I’ve made no other muses since Ezio and any before him have been permanently archived. Fluff, angst or smut: Angst/fluff, I’ve no interest in smut as it’s written on Tumblr.

um, this is wild because i follow you and i’ve been thinking about applying?! but i’ll try to be as constructive and non-biased as possible haha. this is also my first ever opinion, so thanks for sending this and here goes!

first impressions. honestly, i thought it would be a zombie apocalypse plot, since i thought of cormac mccarthy’s novel, the road, which is a pretty scary book with a similar aesthetic (in my mind), but after looking into it, i think the name fits (and it’s creepy, of course). the icon, url, and graphics are enticing and i think they work. 

plot. it’s very simple, but i like it ? i’m always a sucker for those “renegade group of friends in a rough situation” deals. i do wish there was a little more detail in it, though. like, who is the girl, did anyone notice she was missing ? most importantly, why the heck would these kids help cover up a murder they didn’t commit ? are they just that fucked up as people ? i’m having a hard time wrapping my head around that aspect of the plot and i wish there was more information about that motivation. overall, though, the general premise is fun and interesting and i hope you have a lot planned for the missions since i’ve seen roleplays like this in the past that fizzle out because the plot relies on an unknown character like that and that unknown character doesn’t interact with the players, you know ? i trust you, but definitely do planning ! two admins definitely makes that easier because you can use each other to bounce ideas. i’m just invested.

i do wish there was a way to get more information on wilmer itself, too ! maybe some basic locations, a bit about the university the students attend (i guess they’re all commuters?) something like that. just to keep things consistent for players writing their characters. 

characters (if applicable). the skeletons are very loose and interesting ! i like that there’s basically no real guidelines for the character, you just want people to base theirs off of horror movie villains, which i enjoy a lot. some of my favorite scary movies are here, and they’re all well-known classics, so that’s very fun. i like that there’s little boundaries for what you can do with your character. i noticed you are also suggesting fcs for characters when asked, but it might be nice to throw a few on the skeletons ? that’s personal preference though because i struggle with choosing faces so i like when they’re right there for me. some people find that restricting though, so i understand. 

graphics and theme. they’re simple, readable, and enticing. i applaud your choice to not go with the classic “red and black” that usually goes with horror roleplays (and personally i find black backgrounds/etc very difficult to read) so i really like the gray and less-jarring black. it’s all very nice to look at and pretty readable. if the plot were longer, i would probably have qualms with the way it’s formatted, but i think as is, it’s alright. 

other stuff. one thing that is holding me back from applying right now is that one of the admins hasn’t chosen a character ! i’m scared to start an app or even get invested when the character might become taken. i think you brought on the other admin on later (not sure, but probably), but generally it’s a good rule of thumb to have admins choose their characters before promotion. 

honestly, other than that, i think this group is beautiful and really enticing ! if i was a little hard on you it’s probably because i’m invested in this and i wanna see it shine. anyway, i wish you the best and i’ll have my eyes on this group because it’s definitely a rec.

This is a basic guide for RPH blogs and those who every now and then may help someone in the community - whether via a gif hunt, guide or otherwise. This is mainly aimed for RPH blogs that are starting out but may also help those who are old hands. We all make mistakes when being a RPH - even myself. So this will be a list of common mistakes i’ve seen over the years and how they can be prevented.

Please like or reblog if this is useful to you or someone else.

Make a what you do page and have it on show

If you are a RPH blog, then one of the first things you should do is make a page telling followers and other people about what you do. It is also abbreviated as WWD or WID depending if there’s more than one admin running the blog. Here it will basically list rules of how you do things on the blog and what resources you can and cannot do.

Please also when done with it, have it on show where it is easily seen. Often I am asked to suggest blogs that do various things and the first thing I search for is a WID page. I’ve found that some people don’t even have it easily on show and so therefore I don’t list them.

Shoutouts

When you are a RPH you are going to get people asking for shoutouts (if you accept them) for their roleplays. You may get two a week or you may get five a day - it really depends. What I suggest is so that you don’t spam that dash/blog with shoutouts all the time is the following:

Have a limit on how many promos or shoutouts you wish to post in a certain week and make that public. Then on a certain day, post them all (either at same time or in a queue). I know roleplays may send the same promo to 5 different rph blogs, so it would benefit them somewhat as i’ve seen RPH blogs answer that shouout all within the same hour.

What I do myself is make a shoutout graphic and post them all under a read more. Then wait till a certain number has come in my inbox and then post them. Makes things nice and tidy.

Check the guide/gif hunt etc you are reblogging is good or even still there

I’ve done this before, but please check whatever you reblog (guide, lookalike, masterlist etc) is good. For all you know under that read more there could be lots of errors and it may not be detailed.

I have also found that some people reblog guides from old rp helpers and because of that, what they have reblogged is not there anymore. They have changed their url without a redirect link or just deactivated. I can’t count the number of times i’ve had to message someone to say “um yeah what you reblogged is not there anymore.“ If you can find an alternate link then that is great, reblog it from them. But otherwise don’t reblog it.

Changing url - put a redirect theme in

This I have seen so often. Someone changes a url of their blog, but then they don’t save their old url to a side blog. So if anyone wishes to find them easily - they can just click or copy and paste something and they will be taken to that new url.

I make gif hunt masterlists and so if ever I need to update a link, I often find that whoever made the gif hunt has now moved elsewhere and not put on their old url that they can be found at (insert new url). I then have to remove that resource from the list no matter how good it may be. While yes there are deactivations and people make their blog unavailable for other reasons (which is acceptable), it is very frustrating when you come to a dead end.

So, if you would like a redirect theme for an old url, then there are many here.

Tagging

Please for the love of everything have a navigation page and tag what you reblog. So if it is a thing relating to an actor - tag their name and what it was, so a gif hunt for instance. That way people can search their name and find all the things you have reblogged concerning that person. Could also have tags for these things:

- Gif hunts, fc help, lookalikes, medical related stuff, ethnicity, masterlists, locations, related to a certain show etc

I have seen so many people over the years abandon their blog and make a new one just because their tagging system is a hot mess. Maybe it is just me liking to be organised, but it is worth it in the end.

Also a good thing to do, is if certain posts get over say 50 or 100 notes, then make a tag for it. That way you can refer back to it if someone needs help and it is a thing which you can look at and go “I did a thing that people like” and feel proud you did it.

Fandom specific RPH tags

Some fandoms are more popular than others and even create special help blogs or even tags for them. 

Some ones you may want to consider tagging or looking at include: Glee, Riverdale, Shadowhunters, Harry Potter, Pretty Little Liars (or here), Supergirl, DC, Marvel, Star Wars, Disney, POC, Youtubers, Star Trek. There are so many more but those are the ones I can think off top of my head.

Sure, some may not have many posts, no posts or they are years old. But why not start it up again? Benefit is it won’t get lost in generic rph tags.

You don’t have to just include fandom specific things, can also include guides on how to write certain things, lookalikes or theme suggestions etc in those tags. Just don’t include guides or gif hunts relating to characters not in that fandom etc.

Rude tagging to stuff you reblog

This is something that people who i’m in a network with suggested I add. If you are reblogging a guide, gif hunt or something else from another RPH blog - please avoid tagging anything negative in it. Even adding something to the comments - especially the latter. Those who make these resources often check the notes for what people say about certain things, it’s a buzzkill when people see things like “this person already has x amount of gifs, why are you doing more etc“. If there is really an issue or problematic thing regarding something - message them. Think before you act.

Stop whitewashing!!!

When it comes to FC help or lookalikes and even gif hunts - make sure you don’t whitewash a POC. So if it is FC help - don’t give a suggestion to an anon who wants someone Hispanic and give them a FC who may look Hispanic but is actually Caucasian etc. When it comes to lookalikes don’t throw in a white person with a good tan and make it look like this person is POC.

Then there are the edits and gif hunts. Please do not edit your graphics so those who are POC have their skin lightened so much they look white. There are ways to make a gif hunt or graphic better without resorting to those methods.

Guides

When writing a guide, don’t just write it because it is a current popular trend to write about a certain something. It may not even be something you have good knowledge about. I have found this out the hard way when I wrote a guide about playing a character who is transgender or non binary. It was what I thought good based on what I had read elsewhere, but got called out for it by one or two people. I still keep it up mind as a reminder of past errors and how next time I need to improve.

If you do get a request for a guide about something you may not be certain on, then do a masterlist linking others who have written similar. I have found my masterlists linking other people’s work gets more notes than my actual guides sometimes. It also is a way as giving free promotion to other RPH blogs - whether active or not.

Lookalikes

When it comes to doing faceless lookalikes of face claims or generic people, please remember to actually find images which are faceless. It is called a faceless lookalike hunt for a reason. Not to show full face of a brunette woman. People won’t use that image. Also need to remember that if possible please have them similar looking. Don’t just throw any old white brunette haired woman at someone. It is a waste of your time and their time to

Reviews

If you want to do the option of giving reviews to roleplays or people where they are playing a character, don’t just tell them how bad everything is. They have come to you for advice. So what you do is look at how bad something is, then give suggestions on how that thing can be improved. So if the theme is a hot mess, throw in some other themes or colour schemes that could work better. Little things like that.

Themes

When it comes to what theme you choose for your rph blog, please make it so that the user looking at it can read everything (post size no smaller than 400px). Don’t use tiny font, don’t have graphics that blind your eyes and put your navigation links on show. Even if it just shows your ask box and navigation page. It makes a difference. You also don’t have to use a theme that is currently “in“ right now. There are plenty of themes out there which cater for everyone.

Keep RPH seperate from personal/rp blog

If possible when making a RPH blog, try to keep personal drama or information off the blog. For me personally it is just a way keep things professional and to distance yourself from things. However I do know that RPH blogs like to chat with other RPH blogs in public and even their followers.

I’ve also found that those who post personal information about themselves are more of a target for anon hate.

Gif hunts - Tagging

When it comes to tagging a gif hunt, it needs to be seen in the most popular tag that people will see it in.

That means first five tags should be: fc name gif hunt, fc name gifs, rph (or a fandom rph tag), rp help, fc name.

Last two are optional but you get the picture. You can also use tags such as the networks you are in (gifpacknetwork maybe?) or a blog which checks their tag reguarly and will reblog the resources in it.

Gif hunts - Numbering

When doing a gif hunt, please for the love of all things put a number of how many gifs are in that download or read more gif hunt. It is 2017, the time of “There are # amount of gifs here” should be gone. It makes you look lazy and for me unsure if my computer will crash when putting these gifs on my computer or the 20 gifs in the hunt are not worth it etc.

There are simple and easy ways you can find out how many gifs you will be putting on Tumblr. Nphofrph even did a guide about one way you can do it.

Gif hunts - credit where due

Another thing, it is ok for you to post gifs that you have not made yourself, BUT ALWAYS CREDIT THE OWNER. Even if you don’t credit the original makers or can’t remember who they are. Say in description that if they wish to be given credit etc, then get in touch. If someone sends you a message where some or all of the gif hunts are theirs and they wish for you to take them down, then do listen to them. Get into a discussion about what alternatives there could be. Some may be forgiving and allow you to keep them up as long as you do a certain thing, others may want them all removed.

Whatever happens please do not ignore. You do not want to piss off RP helpers, they like making PSAs when they feel their content has been stolen or they have been made to feel ignored by others who don’t listen. Note they will screenshot your conversations so be polite. This goes both ways.

Gif hunts and overused FC’s

This is something I get frustrated at, people doing a generic gif hunt of an overused FC when they already have like 50 others done which are very similar. A wise thing to do would to check their gif hunt tag and see what specific thing they havn’t had a gif hunt of. Something from a new interview, from a new show or even episode by episode hunt of that show etc. Maybe even some gif icons if they don’t have any.

An example is Selena Gomez. She has many gif hunts. Consider what I said above or maybe do a gif hunt of someone who is different but very similar who is of same ethnicity and they have few or no gifs done of them.

Gif icons

While this blog does not make gif icons and in general I am not a fan, it is common for people to use them. If you do make gif icons there really is a limit to how small they should be. I’ve witnessed the discourse in the RPH community about this and it has come to a stage where the aesthetic is 50x50 gif icons. That is ridiculous, please stop making them that small.

Another thing regarding gif icons is that if you are using someone else’s gifs, check to see if they allow their gifs to be scaled down like that, or better yet ask their permission. If you are unsure who made the gif, state you are unsure and if they would like credit then get in touch etc.
