Turvi walked with Lucanis to the back. “Come sit. The cabinet under Old Joe holds a bunch of snacks. Mostly nuts and granola bars, and a little chocolate that Harding keeps stocked. Take as long as you want. I’m going to get into the Gus the Nug suit and go out and high five some kids and dance.”

Lucanis nodded, looking glad to be back in the break room. He grabbed a pack of mixed nuts and turned around to find Turvi standing there in only his very short shorts.

“Rook!” He cried, as he flushed and turned back around.

“What?” Turvi looked around to see what had caused Lucanis such distress.

Neve popped her head out of her office to ask “Is everything okay… Oh.” She stopped when she saw what was happening. “Rook, I’ve told you that you can change in the storage room, it’s more private.” She shook her head, chiding him, but with no real heat behind it, instead there was a fond tilt and chuckle under her breath.

“It’s dark and there isn’t a lot of room back there. And it’s hard to open the door once I have my Nug hand gloves on.” Turvi protested. “Besides, I'm not actually naked.” He shrugged.

Lucanis muttered something unintelligible and pointedly sat at a table with his back to Turvi. “Well you should be considerate of people who are new here.” Neve said and raised her eyebrows pointedly at Turvi.

“Oh. I’m sorry, Lucanis! I’ll be more mindful next time and warn you when I’m getting into the suit.” He paused, looking at the other man for a moment. “Hey, we’re about the same height aren’t we? I can let you have a turn in the suit next time! I have dibs on the parties, but if you wanted to do the dance party sometimes, I think you’d fit in it.” He said enthusiastically. Turvi loved putting on the suit and interacting with all the kids. He had even choreographed a few extra dances himself, so that the dance parties could go on longer than the standard one song.

“Is that the only suit you have here?” Lucanis asked.

“Sure. We don't really need a second one,” Neve replied.

“So the only suit is the one you’re getting into it in just your short shorts?”

“Yep. It gets warm in here, I don’t like wearing extra clothes inside.” Turvi explained.

“I see.” Lucanis paused, seeming to consider his next words. “I wouldn’t want to take over something you clearly enjoy, Rook. So I’ll pass. Learning the rest of the jobs in the store has been enough for today.”

Turvi shrugged. “More for me then.” He continued putting on the costume as Neve walked away trying not to laugh.

I almost called this chapter Lucanis’ no good very bad day. But he’s not the main character in this fic, I promise hahaha.

Hazbin Hotel Headcanons

Angel Dust : Religiously listens to Doja Cat after he hears one of her songs come on a random Thursday

Husk : Spoils the fuck out of Fat Nuggets when nobody is looking or around(except Angel, hard to keep the pair of him and Nugs separated)

Charlie : Goes and volunteers around the rings at animal shelters at least once a month(Do they have those in hell? Who knows? Not me. Do I care? Nah lol)

Vaggie : Reads Angel's romance books because she enjoys smut

Niffty : Has a shrine of spiders and a different assortment of bugs in her room that she taxidermied herself

Alastor : Borrowed a book from Angel Dust that he was assured was just a couple of fictional serial killers, but there was smut Angel didn't tell him about and he physically convulsed when it started up before burning the book out of instinct

Lucifer : Starts up a huge rumor mill just to start more drama when Hell's been particularly quiet for a couple of years

Sir Pentious : Accidentally read smut when he and Cherri were sitting around and she was reading while he was working on a new contraption and he stopped what he was doing to read with her

Cherri Bomb : Has a perfect poker face which has won her a million games against Husk and everyone else during game nights

Egg Bois : Got Egg Boi Frank's name from hearing the name Frank Sinatra

Adam : Reads some of the most heartbreaking angst and the fluffiest fluff with a straight face but cannot keep a straight face for smut

Nugs was a rescue that my wife took in. She is very happy now, when we got her she had no claws left from stuck shed. He got a lot of bugs for these photos.

Gotten Scarred: Lots of scars. Notable ones include: claw marks across the back from a demon attack in their teens, a nasty cut to the chest from a templar (does not remember either of these events happening, probably for the best), and most recently they got their face blown up from busting an artifact whilst veil jumping. The explosion left them mostly blind and deaf on the right side.

Had a Broken Heart: Oof yeah. The first (and only time before VG) they fell in deep romantic love with someone it ended pretty disastrously. He was pretty depressed/never had a committed, long-term relationship and his partner had some bad relationships in the past and was starting to see signs that things were turning bad. Rook tried the old "let's get engaged! That'll solve all our problems" trick, which only served as a temporary solution to their problems before they broke up. To be fair, neither of them meant to hurt the other, they were both just young and stupid. But the whole situation severely fucked up Rook's perception of themselves/their ability to be in a relationship and he carries that with him into veilguard.

ARE THEY:

Scared Easily: Yes, but they get by through the power of bravery and reckless optimism

Trustworthy: Very much so. They wouldn't believe it about themselves but they work hard to be somebody others can rely on.

FAMILY:

Siblings: A sister. 4 years younger. Lives with their parents in a Dalish clan in the South. Typical sibling dynamics with Rook taking a more protective role with her.

Parents: Both alive. Had a pretty good relationship with Rook before he got a bad case of trauma-induced Forget My Whole Life. They were proud of the fact that he was a mage and wanted/expected greatness from him. On Rook's side, they tried their hardest to live up to those expectations while still with their clan. Most of the time they found pleasure and purpose in their role, but did sometimes wish their was less pressure on them to succeed. Overall though, they all loved each other deeply and Rook's parents were gutted when he went missing(presumed dead)

Children: Never gave it much thought. If they did end up having children it would probably be an oops baby

Pets: Befriended a spider that made a web in their window after Bad Breakup (they were very lonely and the spider kept the bug population low). They later adopt the tracker nug, Gus from the veil jumpers (it's a dream come true for Rook)

Saw a TikTok the other day where Alastor had a pet alligator when he was alive named Bug and it came down to hell with him, and it just got me thinking...

What if, if someone was close to an animal when they were alive, the animal would go with them wherever they were (Whether it be heaven or hell) and would act as their guard animals. So, like, fat nuggets is Angels protecter (though he's not very good at it) and Alastor has Bug and when Angel finds out Al has a pet, he insists they go on walks together and Angel will bring Bug snacks when he goes to the store. There also comes a point in time when Al puts a dog door on his door so Nugs can go in and play with Bugs because they became bffs, and that caused Alastor and Angel to get closer.

And then they date

For the wip ask game, camping is intense because it’s in tents! I love a silly joke as a title or note.

This is a pure silly romp 🎪 My concept is Emmrich, Rook and Lucanis go camping with Lace as a treat! I'm loosely outlining the idea as I go haha but hopefully you see the vision:

Lucanis isn't a "nature guy". Spite then decides he IS a nature guy. Emmrich and Manfred bring way too much stuff just like they did before, but Harding is prepared for their lack of preparation 😂

Rook had no idea what "camping for fun" entails and was just gonna roll up in a blanket and eat bugs or something. She brings something they found on a treasure hunt like...a set of tent stakes that are supposed to be enchanted to keep the wind/rain/bugs away when they are all staked in one area, but they also summon demons/bears/a ball of nugs/something else funny (the Veil Jumpers really misread that one lol).

Chaos ensues. Manfred and Spite, per my signature style, dial the chaos up further. Maybe they try to replace the stakes with steaks. Or they took all the sleeping bags out before everyone left because they're "sleeping" and can't go on a trip!

(Can you tell I just come up with shit in the moment lol)

I picture them either sitting down to eat or getting ready to leave when Lace saying the line about "IN TENTS" and waggling her eyebrows at Rook, who of course is overjoyed and thinks this is hilarious but the boys are frazzled and tired and don't want to hear puns ever again.

just a fun little outing with them all where nothing seriously bad happens and they enjoy some down time together.
