I finished FFIII on Monday and am now partway through replaying IV (zot). Are you ready for my at-this-exact-moment-in-time ranking? I am not joking.

Some superlatives

Best battle system straight outta the box: FFII

Pissed me off the most: FFVIII

Funniest: FFIII

Most hangoutable: FFXV

Made me cry the most: FFXV

Best towns: FFIX / FFVII

Best end-game gameplay: FFII / FFIII

As far as biases are concerned, here's my play order in the order that I played them:

played as a kid: 10, 7, 8, 9, 4

played as an adult: 6, 12, 13, 15, 16, 1, 2, 3

Yeah, that's right. Make sense of that.

General takeaways

If you tried playing some FF games that everyone recommended and didn't really gel with them, try playing the ones they don't recommend.

You would not believe how hard my esteem for FFIV plummeted upon playing it again after playing I-III for the first time. The narrative is clumsy by comparison and the gameplay is downright unpleasant. I still like a lot of elements but I'm honestly shocked.

There's. something. about the evenly numbered FF games... something that people who are not me clearly enjoy. I kinda want to ask even number FF likers their opinions on Les Miserables and Saving Private Ryan.

#photo diary #image 1 - pretty sky!.. so many sky photos as always #2 & 3 - baby son keeping me company during one of my Sickness days where I kind of just sit on the floor in a blanket #for hours slowly sipping pedialyte and having applesauce and such lol #He likes to bite the squeezy apple sauce pouches.. and try to steal the heating pad #4. Sky again. lighter more scattered fluffy clouds.#5 - greeting card that I drew at someone's request so they could send it to their elderly family member lol.. It's like.. cats baking #in a kitchen I guess? My eternal curse.. being the number one lover of cats in the world yet still somehow barely having a grasp #on their anatomy so they always look ridiculous when I draw them. I have both drawn and looked at cats for my entire life basically #yet somehow those two things do not come together to make me a good cat artist.. alas..#6 - underpart of an outfit I did (and havent yet posted of course because of my evil backlog of onemillion drafted posts)#I took the main dress off the top but thought the underneath part looked cool on it's own as well #7 - more sky.#8 - Mushroom fettucini alfredo. steak. and grilled asparagus. A fun little meal for me though I can't remember the occasion. I think maybe #as a reward for getting my covid booster or something. Though I still feel it's not as much of a reward when I am personally cooking #everything myself at home gjhbjh.. so its like... I'm having to do quite a lot of labor which makes it feel less relaxing I suppose. but eh #a treat in some form. Still cheaper by overall cost than ordering from a restaurant - and also can be customized and prepared #exactly how I like - which is the point. I guess more I just wish I weren't the only cooking person in the house. Everyone could #take turns making special meals for each other rather than like.. ''hmm I feel like having a treat. suppose I shall spend an hour #making it all myself and then feel tired whilst eating it'' lol.. ANYWAY #9 - and then.. you guessed it..MORE sky pictures!!! This time pinky bluey and so on.. huzzah..#A very sky heavy entry into the photo diaries I suppose #The sky in the 1st/7th image is jsut very ethereal seeming to me. something about the way the lighting is behind the clouds. It's #transportive. An interesting sky will make me feel like many other places in time or things I've seen in dreams or something. You get #a sense of being in a different world or like you're looking out over something you once imagined whilst reading a storybook. maybe lol

damn i missed you guys this has to be the first time in weeks that i've posted more than like 5 things in a day. i can't waaait for actual bayern tomorrow

I just ordered a purse on poshmark to match the tan suede ankle boots I got at the thrift store today. I am incorrigible! But I enjoy wearing my burgundy boots so much with a matching purse, I really want to do the same thing with my tan boots.

#rubia speaks #i've tried to keep my shoe and purse selection so minimal for the last number of years but. i would not mind if #if maybe i had suede ankle boots in a bunch of colours with matching purses #i've known for the last over a decade they're one of my favourite types of shoe to wear so it wouldn't be a fleeting thing for me #i think my shoe ranking goes something like 1. suede ankle boots 2. leather loafers 3. leather riding boots #4. cute ballet flats 5. converse sneakers. and i think the reason ballet flats are before converse is bc they're easy for summer #i get so lazy and ballet flats i don't have to zip or lace up is always there for me. every summer i have a pair under the kitchen table #ready to be deployed when i feel like meandering outside and inside and outside and inside again #6. combat boots. which i don't actually have a pair of rn unfortch #so if i had suede ankle boots in more colours i'd definitely wear them #it would be nice to find a black pair. and navy blue. i'd love to find a forest green pair but that might be hard #i am not going to bust any budgets to do all of this but if they're cheap at the thrift store or poshmark i'm gonna do it lol

I'm actually so serious that spotify wrapped is one of my favourite holidays of the year and the fact that it's taking a week longer to release this year than I was fully convinced it would actually take is pretty agonising. But also opening the wikipedia article about it and seeing it described simply as a "viral marketing campaign" cracked me up in a sad way because well. Yeah of course it's that. Of course it's a viral marketing campaign first and foremost. But also give me my stats and my 100 top songs of the year playlist NOOOWWW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

#there's several reasons why i consider november my favourite month of the year and it doesn't even matter that much that i have last fm now #i still want to see just exactly how many minutes of sparks listening i managed to squeeze into these 10 and a half months #and i'm really excited about the fact that each year i have a considerably greater number of minutes listened #and all tracks and artists played through the year. but this year might completely blow the previous ones out of the water #in big part because i've been drawing much more and i always listen to music when i draw #september alone probably consisted in like 1/4 of its length if not more of just music listening #and ofc the playlist with which it's my yearly tradition to listen to it without spoilers and have the delightful moments of:#listening to a playlist of my most replayed songs and thinking 'wow i can't believe this playlist has my favourite songs in it'#even if it's not entirely accurate as i've learned in the previous years #like for one thing it only lets the same artist reappear every 4 songs on the list (not counting the top 5)#because otherwise all my playlists from 2021 until now would have been like 50-75% just one artist and nothing else #ok since i'm already on this topic my last fm is kitten_intro if anyone would be interested in checking it out lol #stats not entirely accurate anymore because i could no longer be bothered to delete all the hundreds of double scrobbles since july or so #i might try to clean all that up by the end of the year but who knows how annoying it will be in practice and if i really go through with it #but still. look at the ratio between my two most listened to bands and everything else boy #already tells you all you need to know about my music listening habits #goosepost

when people complain about getting like, a 98% grade on something because it was "so close to perfect" its like. i understand what you're saying on a technical level. but that is a line of thought so far away from my experiences and ways of thinking that i do feel like im from another planet. 100% isnt even a real number to me

#i kinda understand when its something like a multiple choice test or something where there is an objective answer #it might feel like u got so close but just missed one #again still a bit alien to me because my scholarly performance is mysterious and anything over 70 is great to me #but i mean ive had a 98 before once in a math test. i did get exactly 1 bit of 1 question wrong #but i didnt really care that it was one off from perfect i was too busy being happy because that was the highest mark id ever received #and the previous math test i had taken got a 53% . grade 11 was a wild time for me in math class GHJKSHFKds #anyway i kinda see where ur coming from with stuff with right or wrong answers like that #but i sometimes get friends in class complain that they got a 95 or something on an art assignment #because they think they got docked 5 points for one or two little things #but i dunno. thats not really how fine arts departments in university tend to grade things #you dont start at 100 and get docked marks for things you got wrong. i dont think ive ever seen a 100% on something like that #tbh the numbers are a little arbitrary i find. i do prefer to try to get em higher because that helps with grants and stuff #but the numbers dont mean all that much in fine arts or in art history (my two majors) a 75 and a 95 can function the same depending on lik #weighting and context and feedback and whatever. i dunno its a wild world out there #it might just be the perspective of someone who did really goodbad in school. (GoodBad (tm) its when ur good but also kinda bad at school!)#compared to someone who got a lot of perfects in mandatory schooling. i sympathise i really do that kind of pressure sounds insane #but while i sympathize i cant really empathize as much unfortunately with this specifically orz its a world very far outside my purview!#100%s arent real to me so they never cross my mind to be worried about LOL
