The Seafloor Citadel: The Denizens' Subterranean Shelter

The Seafloor Citadel itself is a feat of subterranean engineering by Larimar, Baya, and Ne'las. Its metallic hull is thick and sturdy, and its exposed, multi-layered glass dome at its highest point - which sticks out of the seafloor in the Glass Trench - is well-built with the pressure of the deep ocean's waters in mind.

The citadel was built with keeping the Wraiths contained, preventing them from further destroying the outside world. Keeping them contained meant the denizens would have the time and space to create sealing artifacts in which to keep the Wraiths trapped without constant maintenance of a containment facility, meaning they could remain contained long after the citadel became abandoned.

At its center is the Castle, a large dome housing many of the shared facilities that every denizen uses. The food gardens, the library, the infirmary, the recreation areas, and more. It also houses a control center that manages the citadel's amenities, including the ventilation, water filtration, irrigation, and power distribution.

Surrounding the Castle are the Abodes, dormitories close to exit routes meant to house every denizen. The Citadel has six two-person Abodes, four three-person Abodes, and two four-person Abodes, making a total of twelve. Some denizens move back and forth between Abodes as they are part of more than one group, such as Hack part of both the Lethal Ladies and the Triplet Spirits.

Up a staircase south of the Castle is the citadel's namesake, the dome that sticks out of the seafloor. Its glass structure and set of lights provide a view out to a deep-sea coral reef. Some denizens sit here to write logs in their journals on the daily, as they typically go unbothered since this area is rarely crowded - aside from when meetings occur, of course.

The exit routes that the Abodes are built around all funnel into a hub that branches out into minecart tunnels toward various underground locations, as well as an elevator to go directly to the surface. In the present day, all points of egress aside from the elevator to the surface are blocked off due to collapses and cave-ins, rendering them impossible to enter unless found within all the rubble and cleared.

The denizens who originally lived at the citadel were Larimar, Ne'las, Camryn, Baya, the Lethal Ladies, and Kaiya. They all contributed to sealing the Wraiths there, before ultimately dying inside it as they all suffered from cursed wounds dealt by the Wraiths themselves. Larimar, the last one to die, sat in the glass dome with the sealing artifacts beside him - it was lights out moments after he finished writing his final log.

every one of my OCs that’s from my fictional island of Andromede has whitish, silvery hair, but the tone of it actually changes throughout the year, just like all natural hair does! peoples’ hair naturally gets slightly lighter in the summer bc of the extra sunlight, and slightly darker in the winter bc of the lack of sunlight. so in the summer, everyone from Andromede’s hair looks more like this, a more white color:

The Seafloor Citadel

Characters featured: Larimar Yttri (he/him), Camryn Aeran (she/her), Ne'las Andromedes (they/them), Baya Sayonna (any), Hack, Slash, Rip, Tear (all she/her)

The Triplet Spirits & co. were running out of time. They would perish any day now, due to the cursing wounds the Scourges laid upon them. They built the Seafloor Citadel to sustain them as they looked for ways to make their seals on the Scourges last long enough for the next generation of Triplet Spirits to take care of them, as well as to house the seals themselves to keep them undisturbed and intact.

The citadel, whose architecture is a joint work by Larimar, Ne'las, and Baya, is built four miles underground. It has a multi-layered architectural-glass dome that sticks out of the seafloor (hence the name Seafloor Citadel) with a view of a luminescent reef in the hadalpelagic zone. Larimar spent his final hours inside this dome, writing a final entry in his journal.

Despite the tragic, premature deaths within its walls, the Citadel was successful at fulfilling its goal, allowing the seals on the Scourges to remain strong for nearly half a century, just long enough for the next Triplet Spirits to eliminate those anomalies once and for all.

For the character building questions: I'm a Terry fan so I'd like to ask 4, 16, 25, 56 for him, but I'm also loving Cephan and Andromede so for them 3, 9, 13 and 43; also 7 for all of them just for fun (sorry for the massive ask I really love your depictions and wanna hear more about them, take your time no rush or pressure to answer <3)

Going to break this up a little bit since a long ask so:

4. What’s a hobby they used to have that they miss?

Tariesh used to be a very good with his hands as an aspirant and had a nack for crafts and quick patch jobs. He wanted to improve at this but the Larion attack basically killed all dexterity in his left arm so he gave up. He unfortunately gives up on things easily when it gets difficult.

16. What kinds of people do they have arguments with in their head?

Everyone. He always runs little makeshift scenarios in his head where he ends up being completely right and the victor and has an answer to everything. He dreams of telling the nine to shove it, or Cephan saying 'Im so sorry Tariesh you were right all along'. Even Vesiphone who he wishes he could tell her that the entire temple of purity is stupid and in his little mind arguments she balks and fumbles.

25. What subject / topic do they know a lot about that’s completely useless to the direct plot?

Just how the maw works in general but like the niche stuff. He's so used to it at this point he talks about it like it's just the normal local area. In a scene I have planned he basically uses Kleia as someone to just listen to him talk while she's imprisoned because he hasn't been able to chew anyone's ear off in so long. And just tells her things like oh yeah all the showers are broken here, and when they do work the water is either ice cold or it's the literal molten anima. And says he'll be nice (being genuine for one) and give her some or the water he gets that always tastes funny and is slightly luke warm. She asks what the alternative is and he tells her oh usually we just give the souls whatever residue falls from Maldraxus. That's usually acid. Kleia kinda feels bad for him because he does seem genuinely excited to talk to someone.

56. If they’re scared, who do they want comfort from? Does this answer change depending on the type of fear?

Cephan. Always Cephan, if Cephan can't or won't comfort him he even spirals. He's attached to Cephan in ways that are unhealthy. And if Cephan doesn't comfort him right such as tells Tariesh he's the problem, Tariesh just assumes Cephan hates him. (Hello BPDesq spiraling)

7. What would you (mun) yell in the middle of a crowd to find them? What would their best friend and/or romantic partner yell?

For me just Terry. Because I know he hates that nickname and just gotta find the 10ft tall angel person to flinch.

For Cephan it would also be Terry because he's the only one who gets away with calling him Terry and he'd perk up like a dog at the sound of Cephan's voice.

Cephan

This is sorta and over lap for me because I do try hard to focus a lot on characters expressions, tone and body language. So a lot of characters do wear their heart on their sleeve.

3. How often do they show their genuine emotions to others versus just the audience knowing?

But Cephan generally resorts to sulking and isolating himself when he's upset. It's shown clearest when he leaves the we saved the Shadowlands celebration early because he realises his job is done now. Thankfully Kleia knows him and knows where he'll go to go talk to him and explain what he should already know that Bastion just won't kick him out.

Cephan tries to give gentle love back when he was ascended. Which is what got him into this situation in the first place. He was too passive with Tariesh. And just let Tariesh do whatever because he thought it was just Tariesh things. When Cephan did accept that this was not normal and Tariesh was very clearly struggling mentally he tried to nudge Tariesh to go get help. When that didn't work he tried to intervene himself and tell Erida which caused the final straw to break.

9. Do they give tough love or gentle love most often? Which do they prefer to receive?

He needs tough love back. It's the only way to make him see he's kind of an idiot sometimes. Kleia has had to give him a telling off multiple times to make him realise his issues. Such as when he ran off to Maldraxxus.

13. When do they fake a smile? How often?

He's tried to but it doesn't work. He forgot how to smile so faking one just make him look in pain and gave it away anyways. It was usually when he didn't fully believe Kleia that he would have a place in Bastion. Which made her remind him she was the hand of Devotion u dummy.

43. If invited to a TED Talk, what topic would they present on? What would the title of their presentation be?

"Why I think Maldraxus sucks and they should clean it" and it's 2 hours long.

7. What would you (mun) yell in the middle of a crowd to find them? What would their best friend and/or romantic partner yell?

Honestly yelling in a crowd would do nothing for Cephan he's got APD he won't hear you. Thankfully he's missing a wing so that makes him easy to find.

Andromede

3. How often do they show their genuine emotions to others versus just the audience knowing?

Showing any emotion is genuine emotion for Andromede. She prides herself on being that perfect stoic soldier. So she keeps things close to her chest. When she's upset she's a bit more quiet and reserved. When she saw the damage the blast did to her it was the first time she'd cried in eons.

9. Do they give tough love or gentle love most often? Which do they prefer to receive?

Tough love there and back. She doesn't believe in gentle love and she doesn't recognise it when Devos gives it to her when she's at the temple of purity. She's just happy her paragon remembered her because she sees herself as pretty expendable.

13. When do they fake a smile? How often?

She never fakes a smile because she doesn't smile (it's actually kinda hard for her to do physically with half her mouth melted). But she fakes being okay every single day. She had a microscopic recovery period for her injuries because she pushed herself to return to the field. No physio, no adjustments, said everything was good and just went at it. Never tells anyone how her prosthetics chaif her skin, how the pain is still there. She's got the mindset of 'expression is weakness'. And mentally she struggles with the war being over, she struggles with Devos lying to her, she struggles with the guilt of what she did and believes she can't fix it.

43. If invited to a TED Talk, what topic would they present on? What would the title of their presentation be?

"Why the Temple of Devotion is Blasphemy and Adrestes should be cast into the Maw." It had to be cut because she would have gone for 2 days.

If you want you neck broken just say anything negative about Devos or the Forsworn or that Uther is the right leader or Nikolon should take Devos' place and she will manifest.

Devos just has to say her name and it's the sound of a dog running on tiles. She might even slip.

hmm So do the kyrian have like any holidays? any Events in their year? or is it all kind of work forever all the time if they do then which one is Andromeda's favourite?

where do they get their clothes from also cause clothes for winged ppl work different so assumedly there's some sort of specialist are there tailors? or do they get everything from like an armory? -Sab

Festivel Headcannons:

They kyrians are actually pretty strict with fair work laws. We know they get days off and likely have anual leave. The Stewards likely have set work days too as we see they have whole relaxing areas. There's also a lot of relaxed / cared for areas in bastion. The deal is you serve you get to live in paradice. Kyrians likely have a lot of festivels and holidays. Since they're based on greek mostly Aetheian culture which had 120 festivel days. Plus the Archon litterally throws a festivel just for you showing up.

So they probably have holidays and celibrations for really niche things. Especially former paragons like The Agthiaea, The Merciaea and The Dutusia. Not to mention multiple festivels to celibrate The Archon like at least two to celibrate her changing the seasons the biggest being like new years would likely be called the Pankyrestiaea.

Some holidays probably worship alive kyrian like The Asrestia that became The Kalisthenia which is about thanking the Polemarch, so the name would change to whoever the current polemarch is. (Example: The Asrestia, The Chronia, The Kalisthenia).

Then each temple would have their own celibrations of Hand and Paragon festivels like the Devosia, the Lysoniea for Loyalty. The Chyrusia and The Vothiaea for Humility, the Xandriaea, the Duoapollonia-artemedeia for Courage (they do just call this the twin day because no one is saying all that), The Theniosia and The Ariosia for Wisdom and The Vesiphoneia and The Eridiaea for Purity.) These festivels line up whith when the hand was promoted, so its not unheard of two on the same day.

At least 5 festivels for stewards to thank them.

For Andromede, her faveorite holiday is her birthday. She never mentions its her birthday but a way to make her happy is to remember her birthday. Andromede has never seen herself as 'speical' she's not a hand or Pragon. But a day that's a thanks to her is nice.

Kyrians do have a whole department of Artisans called Collectors. Collector is a very broad term for the Kyrians as it ranges form librarians to scientists to black smiths to tailors. And the collectors are all under the Temple of Wisdom but are often spread to other remples to help (such as if the temple of courage needs armour.)

Kyrian clothes I generally always include the back exposed for the wings. Even though in game they miss this.

Andromede and Nikolon do agree with each other however Andromede is much more violent about it.

Nikolon: It's great we can reuinte the Forsworn with the Kyrian ❤️ Andromede and Xandria doing a death spiral in the background but without the courtship part and their hands are around each others throats.
