Return of the Floyd AU
(Floyd returns to join his brothers but only finds a teenage grey Branch, who is not too happy to see him.)
The years since Floyd left have not been easy on him. His solo career tanked, his boyfriend left after Floyd’s Brozone money dried up, and now he has nowhere to go. He spent years living in the woods, searching for wherever the Trolls ended up once they’d escaped the Bergens. After a very long time, he finally finds them. But not everything is how he’d imagined. He makes his way into the village, and asks for help from a very pink troll.
Floyd coyly walks up to her. “Hi, excuse me? Could you help me find someone?”
“Oh hi there! I don’t think I’ve seen you around before?? Luckily for you I know just about everyone in this village!! Who are you looking for?”
Floyd’s eyes dart around, overwhelmed at her energy. “I’m uh looking for my brothers! They’re-”
Suddenly a voice beckons from behind the trees.
“They’re not here.” A figure emerges. It’s Branch. Stood next to Poppy he may as well be in black and white. The only colour on his body being his jacket, a jacket Floyd immediately recognises as his own.
Poppy raises an eyebrow. “Oh just ignore him, he doesn-“
But before she can even finish, Floyd’s eyes light up. “Baby Branch!!”
He runs towards him, arms wide open for a hug, but stops in his tracks after noticing Branch’s appearance.
“Wait, what happened to you? You look so dull, and your eyes are so…”
“So what? Wrinkled? Ugly? Grey? Hey, nice to see you too.”
“That’s not what I meant.”
Sensing a moment of tension, Poppy interrupts.
“Wait wait wait, branch! you have a brother?”
Branch frowns and shakes his head. “Hey can you stay out of this? It has nothing to do with you.”
“Oh ok. Right… I’ll go.”
Poppy sighs and leaves with her head held low.
After a deep breath, Branch continues.
“So Floyd, if you’re wondering why I look like this, maybe it’s because all of my brothers abandoned me. Maybe it’s because none of the other trolls understand. Not a single one of them know how it’s feels to be totally alone.”
“But, what about Grandma? I thought she’d take care of you. W-where is she?”
Branch shakes and grits his teeth.
“SHE DIED FLOYD”
His eyes shoot to the ground. His hands squeezed tightly.
“She died, and I was the only one who could have saved her… a-and I failed.”
Floyd takes a step back. He can struggles to breathe as he feels the weight of his mistakes filling his chest like lead.
“So you. Were alone.”
Branch loses his temper, screaming as his tears poured down his face.
“OF COURSE I’D END UP ALONE. WHAT DID YOU THINK? SHE’D LIVE FOREVER?”
“I.. I…thought…”
Branch interrupts: “Whatever it is you thought was wrong. Why did you even come back anyway.”
“I just wanted to see my brothers again and-”
“Well bad news. None of the others came back. It’s just me. And right now I’m really wishing you’d leave.”
“Branch please, I’m sorry just listen to me”
“Nope. I’m leaving you this time, and I’m going home. Don’t follow me unless you wanna die in a bear trap. Bye.” Branch turns his back and hastily stomps away.
Floyd curls up on the ground, alone. Thousands of thoughts are racing through his mind. How could this have happened? He’d never seen a troll look so desaturated. That’s when he notices. Out of the corner of his eye. His hand is turning grey.
He starts panicking, his breathing accelerates.
“No, no, no. What’s happening.”
His anxiety is only stopped by a sudden scream.
“HEY FLOYD!!!!!” A head appears from the bushes. It’s… Poppy?
“FLOYD are you OK? Your name is Floyd right?” She looks down and screams. “OHMYGOSHYOURHAND!. What do I do what do I do??? Uh, try and think about like, flowers and rainbows and stuff?
Even through the pain Floyd can’t help but roll his eyes. “I’m sorry, but that’s not really helping right now. And were you… listening to us in the bushes? That’s kinda creepy.”
Poppy smiles. “Well, it is my duty as princess to help every trolls problem. Even if it involves being kinda creepy”
Floyd seems a little surprised. “Oh, you’re the princess here?”
Poppy immediately realises she hasn’t actually introduced herself yet. “Oh my goodness how RUDE of me! I’m Poppy, princess of Troll village and your new best friend! I’ll take you to my Dad, he might know what to do. Let me help you up.”
She holds out her hand. (part 2)

A Country Western Proposition (OC x Canon fic)
It was just another day in Trollstopia for Holly Darlin. Sun was shining, critters were making noise, and all her friends were out doing their thing. Yet she couldn’t help but feel uneasy and worried. She was feeling this way because when she woke up that morning, her boyfriend, Emerald Waters, wasn’t anywhere to be found. He had left a note stating, “Good morning, my star. Had to run some errands, but I will be back later.” Now, Holly knew he was a Troll of his word, but she couldn’t help but get un easy feeling.
It had been several months since they got back together, and while Emerald had gotten used to living in Trollstopia, making friends and music, there were still some hiccups every now and then. Sometimes he’d get lost trying to get someplace, or accidentally bump into an angry critter. Holly couldn’t help but worry. She went around asking if anyone had seem him recently, and something strange had been brought to light.
Poppy: “Now that you mention it Holly, a lot of the guys seem to be missing today. For starters, I haven’t seen Branch or Guy Diamond anywhere!”
Val: “Ditto. Haven’t seen or heard from Demo today.”
Laguna: “That’s a negative on any Synth sightings today as well.”
Minuet: “Same for Dante!”
R&B: “Even Lownote Jones is missing!”
Holly: “Well dang ya’ll! You don’t think something happened to them do you!?”
Poppy: “What, no way! They all left notes.”
Holly: “Oh.”
Val: “Maybe they’re having a guys’ hangout.”
Holly: “Emerald woulda’ told me. He tells me everything.”
Holly’s ear began to droop as she lightly kicked the dirt under her hooves. Poppy put a hand on Holly’s shoulder to reassure her.
Poppy: “Holly, would Emerald tell you really tell you everything? What if it was a fun surprise he was trying to hide?”
The other girls nodded and agreed with Poppy.
Holly: “Well, that is true. Buuuut, Emerald isn’t great at making surprises.”
Smidge: “Unless the other guys were helping him.”
Holly perked right back up.
Holly: “Y’know what girls? You’re right! I shouldn’t be getting’ all worked up over what Emerald’s doin’. Even if I am curious. Well, later ya’ll!”
Holly’s friends waved her goodbye as she ran off to do other things. When she finally left their line of sight, they all breathed a large sigh of relief.
Val: “Poppy! You almost gave it away!”
Poppy: “I know, I’m sorry! She just looked so down!”
Laguna: “We’re still on course for a mission success as long as Holly doesn’t find out about the surprise.”
Minuet: “What was the surprise again?”
Smidge: “Emerald never said. Only that, it was the most important thing he’s ever had to do in his entire life. Who knows what that could be!?”
Poppy’s sister, Viva, walked by ever so casually; clearly eavesdropping on the conversation.
Viva: “It sounds like he’s going to propose.”
Viva then ran off giggling, leaving the girl group awestruck and gasping at the realization.
Meanwhile, in Branch’s bunker, the guys were all pitching ideas to Emerald Waters about his marriage proposal to Holly.
Emerald: “I wanted to thank ya’ll again for helping me out with this. I’m burnt cookie awful at surprises, and I really want to wow Holly. You really are the absolute best friends a Parody Troll could ask for.”
Guy Daimond: “Of course! We are here for you and Holly! You two make such an exquisite couple!”
Dante: “Oh, it’s going to be absolutely splendid! But, I must ask, are you sure you aren’t rushing into your relationship with Holly?”
Lownote Jones: “No disrespect, baby, but you two have only been dating for a few months. Maybe over a year if you want to count the first time you two were together.”
The other guys stopped what they were doing and looked at each other, then back to Emerald.
Emerald: “Oh, well that’s just how Country Troll relationships tend to go. Being raised brought up knowing that every waking minute is precious, that life can change at the drop of a hat, and has the potential to end at any moment; we tend to get married when we can.
Synth: “Man, I forget about the bleaker side of the Country Western Trolls. Sorry if those questions seemed ignorant.”
Emerald: “That’s quite alright, ya’ll. Now, I’ve been going through all ya’ll’s ideas, and I just don’t feel as if they’ll be good enough.”
Demo: “Hey man, I’m sure whatever you do for her will be good enough. She is your girlfriend after all, isn’t she?”
Branch: “He’s right. And if none of the other ideas look good, why not try a good old fashioned song proposal?”
Emerald: “A song?”
Synth: “Yeah, that would be so dope yo! You managed to write a parody with techno, you’d be able to write her a proposal song with ba-na-na-na-na ease!”
Emerald: “I can’t write a proposal parody song! My music is full of satire and good natured humor, there aint’ nothing serious about it.”
The other Trolls exchanged glances around the room.
Lownote Jones: “What if it wasn’t a parody song? What if it was a country song? You know, dip back into your roots to show her how much she means to you.”
Dante: “Oh, excellent idea Lownote! Well, Emerald, what do you say?”
Emerald looked at all their faces, each with a reassuring smile. He reached up into his hat and pulled out an old country guitar.
Emerald: “Gentleman, I think we got ourselves a proposal.”
The group cheered as they got to work.
Hours passed and the sun was setting. Word had gotten around that the boys will be doing a surprise performance at the Pop Village stage. Holly Darlin was the first one there, and to her surprise, there was a cushioned very important Troll seat with her name on it, front and center. Poppy and Holly’s other friends arrived shortly after, all taking seats around Holly, brimming with excitement.
Holly: “Howdy girls! I never thought they’d be putting on a surprise show!”
Poppy: “I know right? These guys sure are something else, huh?”
The other girls gave quick glances at Poppy, as if to tell her not to ruin the surprise.
Holly: “Oh I’m just giddy thinking about it! Emerald was even sweet enough to make this little VIT seat for me! Ain’t he just a sugar cube wrapped in caramel?”
The lights on the stage lit up, and the curtains parted. Emerald Waters was standing center stage with his friends around him, all with different instruments. All the Trolls cheered in excitement, but Emerald could only hear Holly’s as he saw her in the front row.
Emerald: “Evenin’ ya’ll! Tonight is a very special night because I have a song here that I would like to dedicate to the sweetest, kindest, and most important Troll to me on this big ol’ world of ours. Holly Darlin, this one’s for you!”
[writer’s not, they’re playing “Amazed” by Lonestar]
As they began to play, the lyrics leaving Emerald’s mouth, Holly cupped her hands over her mouth. She had realized what was going on, and she started getting overwhelmed with emotion. Her legs began to fidget in place, her eyes welled up, she hung off his every word, and she never stopped staring at him. All the other Trolls were feeling the love that Emerald put into his words. Holly’s friends kept their eyes on her to make sure she doesn’t pass out from over excitement.
As the song ended, the crowd cheered, and Holly kept trying to fight back her tears of joy, to no avail. She kept wiping away each tear as it rolled down her face. She slowly approached the stage as Emerald approached the crowd. He knelt on one of his front legs, extending out his hand to pull Holly up on stage. After she was pulled up on stage, she grabbed Emerald by his overall straps and pulled him into a kiss and tight hug.
Emerald: “Holly Darlin, would you be so kind as to make me the happiest Troll in the world by marryin’ me?”
Holly: “Yes! Yes! Of course I’ll marry you!”
The crowd erupted in cheers, whistles, and high fives. The couple held each other in a tight and loving embrace.
In a few weeks’ time, they would be married.

Una rosa es una rosa
In all honesty, this one-shot is an excuse to describe an outfit I came up with for Poppy, but hey, it got me to write something, didn’t it? XD
Special thanks to my lovelies @foxlanaeshrek and @tipolover22. You guys rock! And because you do, this one-shot is set on the Rock!Branch AU.
Read on AO3
With the Skulls and Roses Ball fast approaching, Branch asks Poppy to go with him as his date. However, an unfortunate comment sets Poppy out to prove to her boyfriend she can be the last thing she expected she'd want to emulate: a Rock troll.
Ever since the different tribes of trolls had been reunited and agreed to coexist once again, many changes were made to Troll Village. It had been decided the home of the Pop trolls would take in the rest of the kingdoms, because it was the one that held the most chances for other trolls to make a home of their own, adapting the landscape to their particular needs. And it had the sweetest acoustics by far, too.
Now that all tribes lived together, the leaders had agreed on creating spaces where all trolls could enjoy each other’s company at the same time as any individual kingdom could gather to speak about issues that concerned their kind specifically.
One of such places being a grand pod, known as the Conference-pod, that was built the closest to the centre of the village as possible. It was of every hue that was once represented by the six strings that used to hold each realm’s music. The top was electric blue, representing the techno string; its bottom was a golden yellow, that of the classical string; rotating around the spacious place were purple swirls and warm orange rope-like shapes, symbolising the funk and country strings, respectively; and finally, in the very middle of the pod, where the entrance was, zig-zagged blood red shapes intertwined themselves with bright pink hearts and flowers, a reflection of the rock and pop strings.
Said pod served as a ballroom and an assembly room. In there the trolls would celebrate any party in need of an indoor space, as well as the leaders meet to discuss different ways of ensuring a better collaboration and coexistence between their people. Even so, the place served another purpose, any king or queen (mayor and conductor in the Country and Classical trolls’ case) could request to use the pod in order to hold a party or meeting exclusively for their kind.
Being that last purpose the reason why it was currently being occupied by the Rock trolls, Queen Barb currently addressing her subjects, “As you know, our annual Skulls and Roses Ball is in two days’ time. I doubt I need to remind you it’s our most, if not only, formal event.” She said as she looked at her people. “I’ve already asked Queen Poppy if we can use the pod for it and she gave me the green light, so dudes”, she leaned in closer from the podium she was standing, “we’ve got a lot to do!”
After a minute or two she gestured for her trolls to calm down after the uproar that came when she shared the news, “Captain Branch here will read you the memo. They’re all yours, Branch.”
“Thank you, your rockness,” he thanked her as he took the place she’d previously been in, “As the queen just explained, the Skulls and Roses Ball is a formal event. That means the requirements for it are: we must all look our best, we must bring plus ones with us ‒if somebody can’t bring a plus one, either because they’re in a poly or just can’t find anyone to go with; we must be informed ahead of time‒, and absolutely, under no circumstances must we trash the place. Did I make myself clear?”
He narrowed his eyes at the lack of response from his comrades and repeated himself, louder, “I said, are we clear?!” Immediately, a chorus of agreements and clapping hands came, satisfying him. “That will be all. Dismissed; we have much to do.”
As the Rock trolls retreated, Branch stayed behind to clean up the pod. In doing so, he was approached by the queen of rock, a knowing smirk placed on her lips, “So…,” she began playfully, “are you bringing Poppy as your date, Branch?”
“That is correct, my Queen,” he turned back to face her, then his expression became worried. “Why, is there a problem with my decision, your Rolling Highness?” Branch feared not being able to have Poppy accompany him to the ball. He was well aware his relationship with the pink queen ‒the pink queen of Pop, to be precise‒ was something unheard of, even from back when the trolls still lived together the first time. But he simply couldn’t take anybody else as his date to the event; she was his one and only and he would not accept anyone but her.
“No, no. It’s cool, dude”, the redhead replied, motioning with her hand to ease his concerns, “Popcorn is pretty hard-core once you get to know her.” She smirked at him, which he answered with a smirk of his own. It was true, Poppy could be a force to be reckoned with if pushed too far; outright terrifying. He loved her so much. “But,” that made him worried, “you should really let her know she can’t come in her usual pop fashion.” Barb was now looking at him, her expression serious. “This is a rock formal event, Branch, she must look the part.”
The Captain nodded, “I will make sure she knows, your rockness.”
After the Rock Queen took her leave Branch was sure to follow, he had to find Poppy.
..........................................................................................................................
Poppy could barely contain her excitement the moment her charming boyfriend handed her an invitation ‒scrapbooked by him, might I add‒ to invite her to an upcoming rock event as his date. That would be their first appearance as an official couple! She really wanted to sing as loudly as she could to express her excitement right now. But, figuring there were still things they had to talk about, she did the next best thing; she tackled Branch to the ground in a hug.
“Oh, yes, yes, yes!” She practically yelled, “Yes, Branch! Of course I’ll be your date!”
After allowing himself to relish the attention his beautiful ladylove was giving him, he reluctantly broke the hug, “Poppy, angel, there’s something I should tell you.”
She looked at him with a furrowed brow. Seriousness wasn’t really the mood she’d thought he’d be in after inviting her to a party. “Okay…,” she said, feeling a little uneasy, “What’s up?”
Branch took a deep breath, “You see, the Skulls and Roses Ball is a huge deal for us Rock trolls. It is literally the only day of the year where we are expected to behave and follow certain rules.” His nervous gaze found her confused one, her nodding head encouraging him to continue. “This is the first time ever a troll that worships a different type of music will be attending, so I need you to be in your best behaviour.”
Wording his thoughts like that had been a mistake, he could tell from the queen’s narrowing eyes. “What do you mean by ‘my best behaviour’?” she air-quoted.
“I need you to look and act like a poised, elegant rock troll.” He explained, hoping he didn’t screw up. “I know it’ll probably be difficult-“
“Why would it be difficult?” She cut him off, crossing her arms. She had a feeling she knew where he was going, and she didn’t like it one bit.
“W-well… Y-you k-know… Be-because…”, Ugh, how did she manage to make him lose his usual level head?! In twenty years nobody had ever managed to make him lose his level head!
Then again, he had never met anyone as unique, inspiring, and incredible as Poppy… Oh, Rock. He really did have it bad.
“No, Branch, I’m afraid I do not know. Please, enlighten me…” she challenged.
“W-well, because…” he averted his eyes from her as he uttered the words that were sure to cause him several nights away from his pink, sweetly scented Eden, “…you’re a Pop troll.”
At the confirmation of her suspicions, something stirred inside Poppy. The same kind of resolve that only awakened when her people had truly needed it. But this time it was mixed, once again, with the desire to prove herself… And a hint of smugness.
And so, with a new purpose, she slowly got closer to her tattooed beau, a fire in her pink irises that, hadn’t it been for the fact that he was now slightly disturbed by the heat of its fury, under any other circumstances the Captain of the Rock trolls would have found insanely hot. Without a warning, she quickly pecked him on the lips before whispering, “Challenge accepted.”
As the retreating form of the Pop Queen was finally far enough, Branch let out a breath he didn’t know he was holding.
“…What was that about?”
..........................................................................................................................
Poppy had been pacing and ranting inside the Fashionistas’ pod-shop for twenty minutes. Any troll from another land would be at a loss at what to do with the agitated ball of pink fury, but the twins, having been close friends with the queen since childhood, knew just exactly what was troubling her.
“So Branch invited you to Rock troll party-“, Satin started.
“-But he doesn’t actually think you can pull it off?” Chenille finished.
“Yes!” Poppy threw her arms at her sides, exasperated with her boyfriend. “I can’t believe him! We’ve been together for months and he still doesn’t trust me when it comes to his people and their customs! Like, what gives?!”
The twins exchanged a look. As siblings that were literally bound to each other, they knew of unsaid things, hidden behind bickering, better than anyone. “Poppy, hon.” Satin called her as Chenille put a comforting hand on her shoulder.
When their friend was finally looking at them, the blue sister began to explain, “We don’t think Branch doesn’t trust you.”
“Really?” Poppy asked, incredulous.
“Really.” The pink twin assured her with a soft smile.
“Then why doesn’t he think I can actually behave like a ‘poised, elegant Rock troll’?” She rolled her eyes as she did a half-hearted impression of her boyfriend’s voice.
“It’s probably not that he doesn’t think you can’t behave like one of his kind-,” Chenille tried to reason.
“-But more like he’s trying to protect you from them.” Satin added.
“What?”
“You know how we trolls can be, Poppy”, Satin shrugged, “We get very defensive of the things we care about.”
“So Branch probably fears his people will give you a hard time if you don’t act like them on such a special occasion.” Chenille smiled at her, reassuringly.
The royal troll’s eyes widened. It all made so much more sense now! Of course her romantic, thoughtful, and caring boyfriend would never think anything but highly of her! He just had a hard time delivering harsh things gently due to his upbringing. Sometimes even to her. He’d explained himself before.
“I want to make things right.” She spoke up. “I want to make Branch see I can handle myself so he doesn’t worry to death for my sake.” Poppy suddenly felt very small under the amused smirks and knowing eyes of the twins. She knew they saw right through her… “And… I also want… to… make his jaw… drop… when he sees me.” She admitted quietly, a blush spreading over her already pink cheeks.
The Fashion Twins simply giggled. Those two were adorable!
“Luckily for you-,“ Satin began to speak.
“-We happen to have the perfect idea in mind for your outfit.” Chenille completed the sentence as she showed Poppy a very peculiar flower. A flower Poppy knew all too well but had never given much thought. After all, it wasn’t the kind of flower a Pop troll would have a soft spot for.
“A-are you sure?”
“Positive.” They answered in sync. “Besides, it sure is perfect if what you’re aiming for is something that helps you erase your pop vibes temporarily. It does symbolise death, hatred, farewells, and tragic romance… It’s sure to grant you the darker side that is so characteristic of Rock trolls, since it’s a stark contrast to your usual, well, you.”
Poppy didn’t know which twin had said it, but she didn’t care. She had the perfect chance to become a poised, elegant rock troll and she sure as Hair was going to use it.
.............................................................................................................................
Branch had been waiting anxiously at the entrance of the Conference-pod for the last ten minutes. Despite their disagreement, Poppy had sent him a card saying she’d be there at 7:00PM. And yet, it was already 7:10PM and she was nowhere in sight.
He couldn’t help but think back on their “argument”. Ugh, if only he’d been better at choosing his words! How he was simultaneously able to smooth talk his girlfriend until he swept her off her feet and speak to her with his foot in his mouth was beyond him! But alas, it was a power he had been both blessed and cursed with, apparently.
He was also feeling very curious regarding her outfit of choice. Even if he knew for a fact Pop trolls had their own formal events, a part of him still worried about his queen’s (the one by choice, not the one he’d sworn to serve because he was her Captain) choice.
He, himself, never really lost sleep when it came to his own clothing. He was dressed smartly; wearing a buttoned-up white shirt, a black tuxedo and a navy blue tie and waistband to match his dark hair, which was carefully combed back, giving him a refined presence. Even if his attire was appropriate for the occasion, his mind was still going back to Poppy’s.
Just what would she be wearing?
“Branch, over here!”
As he turned his head to the sound of his name, he could feel his eyes widening like saucers, his rocker heart skipping a beat, his jaw hanging right open... And he was pretty sure he’d stopped breathing, too.
It was so strange. The female in front of him looked so much like Poppy. Her skin was the same pink he’d compared to the sunset’s hue dozens of times. Her magenta eyes still sparkled with the same sense of wonder and excitement Poppy’s always reflected. Her glittery freckles shimmered when the light hit them just right… And yet, the troll before him looked nothing like his sweet, happy angel of morning.
The pink troll before him had a certain feeling of mystery and danger to her. Her beauty screamed enchantress, siren, goddess of the night! …Of course it was Poppy, Poppy always looked like a goddess! He couldn’t take his eyes off of her.
Her magenta hair was reminiscent of a bud that was yet to bloom, with both the strands at the top of her mane and framing her face shaped after two perfectly round spirals. But what really caught his eye, though, wasn’t the extra softness it seemed to radiate, but the single black streak that went across his mate’s silky locks. A black highlight he’d only ever seen once before; when she was (seemingly) turned into a Rock troll.
Glinting in the night almost as much as her rosy gaze, three silver earrings gave the pink troll a bit of a wilder look. Two of them adorning her right ear, and one on her left. The smoky eyeshadow she wore made her eyes resemble two magenta lights in a fog of mystery. A spiked choker covered her neck, forcing his mind to daydream with the thought of marking it with a love bite.
The masterpiece she was using as dress was black and strapless, it hugged her body perfectly; the bodice accentuating her curves in such a manner that it reminded him of a corset. And the skirt, the long, filmy skirt, had a cut on both sides of it; teasing Branch with the sight of Poppy’s long, perfect legs. From closer inspection, the unusually smooth texture of the dress reminded him of a flower’s petals, rather than fabric. And yet, its rose-like velvety feel gave it a quality no other silk could amount to achieve. It was almost as if Poppy had picked rose petals and woven them together to create such garment.
That’s when it clicked. The dress was inspired after a black rose.
What really sold the look, however, were the twin armlets she wore, alongside her headband. The bracelets, made out of obsidian, were crafted in the form of vines with thorns. And, in contrast to the Pop Queen’s usual style, the headband followed a simple design; a halo of silver decorated by three black roses.
He gulped.
From the corner of his eyes he could see Riff arriving with his own date. At the sight of his Captain, he subtly motioned to the corner of his mouth. Following the movement with his own hand he realised what the drummer was referring to, he discreetly wiped the drool falling out of his open mouth.
A triumphant grin made its way to Poppy’s lips. Judging by the look on her boyfriend’s face ‒and his jaw, which was barely avoiding touching the floor‒, she’d succeeded. She looked like a classy Rock troll. Still, even if it was just to tease him, she asked, “So? How do I look?”
Breaking out of his stupor, Branch lightly shook his head before speaking up, “Poppy you… Rock, I don’t know what to say!”
She giggled, “Tell me, do I look like the perfect Rock troll now?” She wanted to sound confident, but a part of her still feared not meeting her boyfriend’s expectations, making her direct her eyes to the floor, only looking up at Branch ever so slightly.
His heart sunk at the insecurity hidden behind her melodic voice, “Poppy,” gently grabbing her chin, he directed her eyes to his before continuing, “you’ll always be perfect for me.”
A soft smile appeared on her lips at the clever reference of the beautiful ballad Branch once serenaded her with to express the depth of his feelings for her. He truly had the soul of a poet.
He then offered her his arm, “Shall we, my lady?”
“Branch, before we go in, I wanted to tell you something.” She watched as he turned, fully facing her now with his icy blue peepers. She had his full attention. “I’m sorry.”
His eyebrows knotted in confusion, “You’re sorry? What are you sorry for, Pops? I’m the one who doubted you!”
“No, you didn’t.” She said with finality. “I now know you weren’t doubting my blending in with your people, you were worried they wouldn’t be pleased with my ensemble and give me a hard time for it.” She sighed. “You were just trying to protect me.”
She really did get it. Sometimes he wondered if this selfless creature could read him like an open book. As a matter of fact, that didn’t sound so bad. “Yes, you’re right. That’s what got me worried, but still, Poppy, I should’ve voiced it differently.” He let out a humourless chuckle, “Looking back, no wonder you thought I was underestimating you for being a Pop troll. So,” he shrugged after holding her hands, “I’m sorry too.”
After a minute of silence, he asked, “Does this mean the gates to Heaven won’t be closing on me?”
Poppy snorted at that, “No, they won’t. ‘Sides, it’s not like you don’t have the key to them anyways…” She replied in a sultry voice.
Smiling widely at each other, no more words needed to be said. So, instead, they just closed the distance with a soft kiss before settling in an embrace.
Poppy was the first to break the silence, “Branch, I love you. And it means so much to me that you worry about my wellbeing so much, really, it does; but I don’t want you to have a heart attack every single time I find myself in a difficult situation. I swear, I can take care of myself; I did save my people from the bergens, after all.” She winked at him.
The blue troll chuckled, “Yes, you do.” He then offered her his arm again, “Now, shall we join the others, my rose?”
She took it, “Well of course! But tell me, Branch, do you really think I’ll be fine at the ball?”
He gently kissed her nose, a stark contrast to the roughness he treated almost everyone else with, “Believe me, they’re fools if they can’t see you’re the most tender flower in the rose bush.”

Nine Lives, One Fight - Part 21
The story: Deep in the forest of Troll Town, there lies a mysterious tiny purple mushroom that has a secret magical ability. King Peppy calls this mushroom forbidden for all Trolls to go near it. One day, while Branch is out in the woods doing his survival research studying, he encounters it and, not knowing it is a regular mushroom, decides to harvest it and bring it home. But in the next morning, its magic effects transform him into a small blue cat! After being sent to the animal pound, his girlfriend, Poppy, finds him and decides to adopt him, although not recognizing it is Branch. Desperate to finish his research project due for a special event invented by Poppy, Branch is forced to learn how to behave like a pet cat and must figure out what caused him to become one.
You already seen what had happened in Part 20. Now get ready for Part 21!:
Flinging herself into her pod with her hair, Poppy didn’t stop until she got into her bedroom. Then she threw herself down on her bed and broke into sobs.
Tumblr media
Poppy laid down motionless. Overwhelmed by the loss of her boyfriend, she clutched on to her pillow and wept. With tears in her eyes, she moved a picture frame beside her pillows and looked at it. The frame had a picture of Poppy and Branch, sitting on a hill together and giving each other loving looks.
Poppy sighed at the photo. She had never felt so distraught in herself.
Tumblr media
“Oh, Branch,” she said softly, her eyes full of sadness. “I knew you’re always there for me, but you can’t be gone forever.”
One of her tears dropped down to the picture frame. The memory of Branch made Poppy feel even worse.
She decided to settle herself for a good night’s rest. Tomorrow she would surely feel much better. Poppy turned on her side and closed her eyes, welcoming sleep to take hold of her.
During her sleep, a light suddenly flared into existence, dim behind Poppy’s closed eyelids. She clenched her eyes tighter together and rolled over to escape the small nuisance. The light was still there, and the warm and cozy bed was a little less so. Poppy opened her eyes to a sliver, then fully so.
A spotlight? And the bed was gone, replaced by a rough, stone floor. Poppy lifted herself off the ground and slowly made her way towards the lit area. What was this place? Was I dreaming? she thought. She reached the spot and bathed in the light. A black void surrounded her in every direction, except for the moon, which was positioned in the center of a starless sky.
This place… it felt so lonely… and so familiar, like Poppy knew everything about it, but didn’t recognize it at all. Every time she closed her eyes, she would see this, feel this, live this. It was almost like this was in her own mind.
Poppy began to sing to capture her mood:
You rest inside my mind
Since the day you came
A wind blew around her, pushing the fog away and leaving her untouched. Long-familiar features finally began to come into focus. First a rocky floor, then the center studying table, followed by the walls with shelves and baskets of supplies and survival equipment.
Poppy knew this place. “Branch’s bunker!” she whispered, putting her hands up to her mouth and tears running down her face. She must be dreaming!
“Come on, Branch! I knew you wouldn’t miss the big day!”
Poppy’s eyes shot fully open. She knew that voice from out of nowhere…it was her own.
“I don’t know about this, Poppy.”
The pink Troll turned around and found a projection of herself talking to Branch, who was in Troll form in that time of the day. They glowed, with trails of foggy light seemingly evaporating off of them and disappearing into thin air.
“Why don’t you want to come to their wedding?”
Branch rubbed his chin, his eyes speaking volumes about his apprehension. “Are you sure your best friend will be alright to marry the king?” he asked Poppy.
“Of course!” Poppy told him enthusiastically. “Bridget and King Gristle are getting married today! They’re inviting all of us to their wedding! Why you want miss the chance to go to Bergen Town again? I thought you liked Bergens because they don’t eat us anymore!”
“I know!” Branch said awkwardly, nodding and raising his arms up. Then he hung his head, feeling a wave of sadness across his face. “It’s just...if only my grandma were here to see our happy village.”
Poppy clenched her eyes shut, remembering the day she used to comfort Branch over the loss of his grandma, who got eaten by the Bergen Chef when he was a little young boy a long time ago.
The foggy image of Poppy hugged Branch, and he hugged back, enjoying the pressure of her big warm hugs. “Oh, Branch,” she told him. “I can see how you felt. But now that we made peace with the Bergens and you regained your true colors, there is nothing to worry about. I’m sure your grandma will be so proud of you, smiling down from heaven.”
“Thank you, Poppy,” Branch said gratefully. “You were always there for me when you helped me to be happy.”
“And I knew you always were,” Poppy added.
The two Trolls looked at each other lovingly and leaned forward, bringing each other’s lips close...
Poppy’s body trembled against the threat of tears. She did her best to shake it off and watched as the apparitions of herself and Branch disappeared. His chance to see Bridget and King Gristle’s wedding would be the best from him… At least he got to see it, and she is glad he enjoyed it. She quietly sung a few words:
I knew you would be with me
All the time we spent
“Hey, Poppy! How’s it going?”
Poppy got startled from her song when another memory of herself visiting Branch again sprung up to the right.
Her image approached Branch. “Hey there, Branch!” she said proudly. She noticed that he is stashing some acorns in a bag. “What are you doing?”
“Storing food for the winter,” he said. “Why are you here? Aren’t you cold?” Branch looked so worried that she might be getting a frostbite if she went to his bunker without any warm clothes. He turned to a closet and cried “Let me get you some warm clothing!”
“No,” Poppy corrected him. “How could you forget? I’m here to give you a Christmas present!”
Poppy immediately remembered this! It was Christmas in Troll Village, and she went to visit Branch’s bunker to offer him a holiday blessing. Thankfully, Branch was able to accept the offer and unwrapped his gift with mere anticipation.
Branch’s jaw dropped open wide at his Christmas present. He was totally speechless at what Poppy give to him. “Whoa! No way!” he said, excitement gripped his throat. “A SuperTroll action figure?!”
Poppy tried not to laugh so that her boyfriend can agree with her. “Yes!” she squeaked, nearly throwing her arms wide to hug him.
Branch was overwhelmed with love and admiration. After pulling himself away from her hug, he moved his SuperTroll toy around, pretending that it can fly. “You’re the best, Poppy!” he said happily. “How can I ever thank you for this?”
“Well, you can always thank me as much as you want!” Poppy said proudly, smirking at him. Then she yanked him to the bunker elevator, and Branch was suddenly confused.
“Where are you taking me?” he asked.
“I’m sure you would love a good snowball fight!” said Poppy, bouncing up and down with excitement.
“Um, what are you talking about?” Branch didn’t understand what she was planning for him.
“Come outside! I’m sure you’ll love the snow!” With pride in her step and a determined smirk, Poppy hopped on the elevator platform, with Branch pulling the lever, rising themselves upwards into a flash of green fog. That was always like Branch; no matter what the situation, he would always be willing to come with her and help her, whether he enjoyed the fun or not.
As the memory disappeared, Poppy sang:
What we shared was surely
Warm enough to know you cared for me
“DANCE BREAK!!!” A familiar cry caught her ear; Poppy turned to see herself preparing to dance excitedly while Branch overreacted in horror.
She recognized this moment. Branch had never been too keen on overreacting just for the fun of himself. He’d only ever overreacted in some circumstances whenever something for a party was forgotten. One day, it was Guy Diamond’s birthday party at that time, and Poppy and Branch wanted to organize the party with a huge success, and they were busy setting up the balloons and banquet. During that one moment of preparation, Poppy started doing a victory dance and Branch nearly panicked, as if they were forgetting something.
“Clear the area!” he yelled, frantically looking around and waving his arms around. “Check for potential tripping hazards! Establish a perimeter for an open path for non-dancing Trolls to pass!”
Finally, Branch faced Poppy, who was staring at him and knew he had overreacted once. He threw his hands up in the air and dramatically cried out “DO WE HAVE ENOUGH LIQUID IN THE AREA FOR HYDRATION?!”
For a moment, everything was silent. Branch turned to Poppy’s glaring expression and hung his head, embarrassed at his outburst. “Okay then, point taken,” he said. “I’m sorry. I was overreacting for the sake of myself.”
Poppy’s image giggled and offered a genuine smile. She pushed her fist against Branch’s shoulder to playfully tease him before being engulfed in the fog of her mind, like all the rest.
Poppy turned away and was met by a large opening in the wall. She stepped outside into an open field, lit only by a sun hidden far below the horizon and a plethora of scattered stars. A green mist materialized beside a pod far from her gaze. It slowed and the fog fell off, revealing another image of herself, giggling as she showed Branch a drawing of himself with a porcupine quill-like hairstyle, whom he grimaced at. Poppy couldn’t place this memory, but it was yet another time they were at Maddy’s barber shop. Just as soon as they appeared, they disintegrated into ashes and disappeared into the night sky.
Poppy closed her eyes, taking in the sounds of chirping insects in the tall grass. Sounds became muffled, as if she’d been placed behind a window and was no longer really there. She opened her eyes to the sight of trees sprouting out of the earth, surrounding her wherever she turned.
Once again, the familiar faces of this dream appeared, appearing in a forest, only to disappear once more as each memory tended to do. To calm herself down, Poppy sang as the images played out from her mind:
Tumblr media
Light floods through memories
Helps me walk my path
As she kept singing, Poppy was now on a rotating pedestal, lifted up high enough that she would be out of reach. On the memories played, showing her more of the happy times she had with Branch: the time when Poppy was curious of an emergency lever encased in a glass box he had created in the corner of his bunker and Branch warned her for her safety, advising her not to break the glass and pull it unless there will be danger.
She remembered the time when she sheepishly told the truth to him after she accidentally breaks his vase made out of clay.
Poppy also remembers that one time she discovers his polished brass knuckles in his drawer, leading Branch to snatch it from her as she teasingly held her hand high from him, her fingers buckled within the shiny object. The memories surrounded Poppy with such dizzying velocity that she felt the need to curl up in a ball and hide.
She quietly sang some words as her voice nearly shook:
I'll keep my head up high
Words of faith and love
Your strength gives me hope
Someday I'll find you with open arms
The memories all vanished in the fire of the setting sun, not unlike the one that had greeted her when she arrived home.
It was quiet. Poppy wasn’t sure she would hear it if she even spoke, but slowly a sound echoed around her. Ahead of her was a large clearing occupied by endless lumps of snow. Cut through the center of the area was a path, and the source of the sound.
Another ghostly image of Poppy ran down the path towards her. This memory was different. There was an urgency in her step, and Branch was nowhere to be seen.
“Poppy?”
Her breath caught as she faced a Troll with blue hair wearing a scarf, with his back facing her. Right in front of her, staring down the path, was Branch.
As Poppy’s mirror image closed in, Branch gave a happy wave before running in and hugging her tight. She looked on, as a lump formed inside her throat and a pang of sadness took hold of her. The other Poppy had tears in her eyes when she embraced Branch in the middle of the snow.
Tumblr media
“What’s wrong, Poppy?” he asked in the memory, concerned about her emotion.
“Nothing,” she wept, trying to smile.
“Tell me what is wrong with you,” Branch said in his gentle voice. He lifted her chin with one hand to make her look directly into his eyes, but the sad pink Troll is unable to be comforted, looking down at the ground and crying.
“Don’t cry,” Branch said warmly, doing his best to comfort her. “It’s okay. I’m right here now. You can tell me what is your problem.”
“Branch, there is something I need to tell you,” Poppy said sadly.
“What is it?” asked Branch, pulling her tightly into his arms.
“One day, what if you leave me and get yourself into trouble? What’s gonna happen?” Poppy quickly paused for a moment, trying to hold back her sobs. Branch hugged her close, and she broke down in his arms. She poured out her sorrows and upcoming predictions to him. He listened without interrupting before he gently comforted her. He gave her valuable advice while he hugs her tight, assuring her that it was not the end of the world and that soon, all would be well.
“Nothing’s going to separate you from me,” Branch assured her, smiling. “It’ll be fine, Poppy. I’ll always be right here…in your heart.” He pointed out his finger to her chest as he said this, and he wrapped an arm around her shoulders. Poppy leaned in close to his touch and was able to calm down. Together, they gazed lovingly at the beautiful sunset far from them.
Poppy forced her eyes shut, wishing the image would go away. That was it, the lie she had ever heard of her life. Why didn’t Branch have the guts to just tell the truth of his mistakes? At least if only he had told her… If he had told her that he accidentally pulled out the Archaeo morphisis mushroom that one single night, then maybe she’d at least know what to expect. She would have stop him from touching the mushroom, which Branch would then have to choose to lie about, or tell the terrible truth.
But it was too late to save his life now. Branch did promised that he will not leave her side, but he broke it for now. Her entire life is shattering to pieces as she predicted that she would live in a world without a village grump walking around and carrying sticks in his arms. Poppy knew Branch decided to lie, anyway, with the hopes that she could somehow conjure up the miracle cure needed to save him. But now she had failed him, and he would never forgive her.
Plus, she would never forgive herself too.
The world around Poppy grew dark, and her eyes grew heavy. The weight she had been carrying finally pushed her down to the ground. Her head became light and she felt the life escaping her as the air in her lungs escaped through constricting pressure. Tears streamed down her face through her closed eyes, dripping onto the packed dirt beneath her.
“You promised me to not leave me, Branch,” she murmured. “I know you were always in my heart...”
Soon, Poppy shot out of bed in reality, still holding on to her photo frame of herself and Branch and gasping for any air she could take in. Her body trembled as she fought to catch her breath.
Once Poppy managed to calm down, she sat back against the pillow and studied the darkness in her room. She could see faint silhouettes scattered around her. She fixated on one of them, studying the intricate curves of the craft. Suddenly, a ghostly mist began to weave around the object, and it began to turn to face her. Poppy shook her head and looked again; it was gone. Just her mind playing tricks on her.
The dream was still clear in her mind. Memory after memory, the happiness between Poppy and Branch was apparent, except for that last one. Branch had been scared and looked to her for answers. He trusted her, and she betrayed that trust.
One thing each memory had in common, though, was that Branch was always there. He was always there for her when she needed him. So why, after a few days of disappearing, was she not by his side now?
Tumblr media
Without anyone to hug and comfort at bedtime, Poppy felt completely lost and alone. She looked up at the darkened pink ceiling and sighed. “Branch, where were you when you always need me?” she wondered. She couldn’t think where he had gone to, and hoped that he would be in a better place any time now.
Meanwhile, deep in the woods, Branch, stuck in his cat form, sat on a cliff near a river, heartbroken. It had been a long time since he had been chased by the Animal Control officer an hour ago. A cold breeze drifted over him and he shuddered. He had no idea how many hours he had been sitting here. With a deep sigh, he placed his chin between his front paws and brushed at the tearstains dripping out of his whiskers.
Tumblr media
Branch gazed down at the river, where he can see his own reflection. He had never felt so hopeless in his life. Then he spotted a small rock in front of him and flicked it with his paw, sending it dropping into the water.
Tumblr media
The liquid rippled, and through his own eyes, he can see that his watery reflection changed into his old Troll self, all dressed in his usual green vest and brown shorts and with pointed elf-like ears sticking out on the sides of his head.
Tumblr media
Branch took a moment to look down at the reflection in the river. Seeing his Troll form down there made him feel even more worse. He closed his eyes and shed a tear, letting it fall into the river again. When the water rippled again, his reflection reverted to his cat form.
Dropping his head to his front paws, Branch sighed and curled his long blue tail around his body, blaming himself for ignoring Poppy and King Peppy’s warnings. The life he had always known was gone forever, and he needed to accept his fate.
                                               To Be Continued...
                                            Stay tuned for Part 22!
Note: This time, there were not much pictures in this one. For the most part, I'm very happy with how it turned out! The part is based off the music video “Memories” that I created last year, with some parts of it incorporated into the paragraphs. I hope I did the video justice because it really was incredible to me.
I give you a link to the video! I dare you to watch it while you read through this part because it is linked to it.
Click here for the “Memories” music video! Good luck reading it! 😊💙💖

The Woes and Antics of Living Together-14
Writer's block kind of kicked my butt while writing this chapter even though I knew what I wanted to do. After the last chapter I thought we needed something a bit more fun and I hope you all like it. Poppy once again gets her not-boyfriend to do something he doesn't particularly want to do XD
Previous Chapter/Next Chapter; AO3;FF.net
@writerofberk-Heeheehee~ I’m kind of evil in this chapter but it’s a good kind of evil, lol!
                         ~*~*~*~*~*~
The day was bright and colorful as Poppy walked merrily down the sidewalk, whistling a perky tune. It had been about a week since Branch finally let some of his guilt and sadness out about what happened to his grandma and he was definitely making good on his promise of trying to be more open with her already. Which was fantastic cause now he wasn't hiding behind a mask of grumpy sarcasm! Okay, sure he was still sarcastic, that was just who Branch was, but he was trying to relax more with Poppy and was starting to smile around with her again. Real smiles! She had even heard a genuine laugh the other night when she made some random joke about bread. A little part inside her had swelled up in happiness at that because she hadn't heard a real laugh from him in years. Giggling cheerfully, she spun around, feeling incredibly pleased that everything was going so well at the moment.
Once her happy little dance was over, Poppy continued on her way towards Branch's work, hoping to catch him before he went on his lunch break. Having been told she wouldn't be needed to babysit today, she thought it would be nice if the two of them went out to eat. She could never convince him to join her with the Pack or to actually go somewhere for dinner, but maybe now he'd be a little more willing. Plus her favorite little cafe was only about two blocks down and around the corner, so it wasn't like they would be going very far. Maybe they'd even have time to browse that old book store that sat in between close by! She was sure he'd like that!
Skipping the last few feet, Poppy came up on the camping store's door with a giggle and smiled as the bell chimed, announcing her arrival. She looked around at all the fun camping stuff before catching sight of the brunette guy standing at the register. She remembered him as the one who had given her the application for Branch when she asked for.
"Hello there~!" She greeted cheerfully.
He blinked up from his phone and then smiled at her, leaning on the counter, "Oh, hey~ It's the cutie that picked up an application. Sorry to say the position's been filled but I've got an opening."
Poppy giggled, flattered that he felt the need to flirt with her, "I'm taken actually." Sort of, anyway, "But I'm sure you'll make someone very happy one day."
He sighed dramatically, "It's always the cute ones…" He then grinned, "So what can I help you with today?"
"Hey, Ash, who ya-" Denis came from the back and smiled at Poppy, "Oh, hey, Poppy. What are you doing here?"
"Dude! Why didn't you tell me you knew this cutie?!"
"I don't have to tell you everything."
Poppy giggled at the interaction between the two co-workers. She could tell they were good friends and hoped Branch had a similar relationship with them or, at least, would soon. It would be nice if he had some other friends to hang out with besides Gristle. She smiled at Denis then, "Hi. I'm actually here to see Branch. Is he available?"
"Sure is!" Denis then grinned before yelling down the aisle, “Hey, Branch!! Your girlfriend's here!!”
It was a few minutes until Branch's familiar dry tone came close, “What has Reed said about yelling in the store?! And what are-Oh...” Poppy waved merrily at him as he noticed her standing there. He then glared at Denis before saying through clenched teeth, “She's not my girlfriend! We're just roommates!”
"Uh-huh, suuuure." Ash drawled as Denis smirked and nodded
Branch groaned and rolled his eyes before crossing his arms and addressing Poppy, "Ignore them, please. What are you doing here?"
“Well it's nice to see you too.” Poppy sassed, hands on hips. She then giggled and grinned at him, “I came to see if you've had lunch yet. I got let off from watching the Menthe kids so I thought maybe we could go somewhere.”
“Uh...well...” Branch scrubbed at his hair, trying not to blush because his co-workers were watching and because Poppy looked adorable with her hopeful look. He didn't want to disappoint her by saying no but he also wasn't sure if that was a good idea. People, like Denis and Ash, might think it was date. “I...my lunch break isn't for another hour so...”
“Dude.” Ash groaned, “When a hottie like her asks you out, you take it!”
“This is none of your business!” Branch snapped at him, "Stay out of it!"
"Branch, come on. Be nice." Poppy then swung her arms behind her, "And if you can't come, that's alright."
"What are you knuckle-heads up to out here?" Reed's voice suddenly came from the back. When he reached the small group, he smiled and nodded to Poppy, who waved back.
"Branch is denying going out to lunch with Poppy." Denis informed his boss, like a kid tattling.
Branch glared at him, "I can't help that my break isn't scheduled for another hour!"
Reed chuckled and patted Branch on the shoulder, "Branch, calm down. It's alright." He then grinned at him, "I'm more than willing to let you take an early lunch today. You're model employee and deserve it."
"I-uh…" Branch still wasn't sure how to feel whenever his boss complimented him, "That…"
"Please, Branch?" Poppy asked, clasping her hands under her chin, "I came all this way…"
He glared at her, knowing his work wasn't that far from their apartment. Branch then tried to ignore that hopeful, sparkly eyed look she was giving him and to not be broken down when she started to flutter them, knowing she was just doing it to be funny. He then groaned because damn it, he was weak, "Fiiiine…"
“Yay!” Poppy cheered before grabbing his wrist, “See you guys later!” She then dragged him out the door, the bell signaling their departure as Reed waved them goodbye.
Ash watched Poppy pull Branch down the street through the windows before commenting, "If they're not banging, Branch is an idiot."
"Quarter in the lewd jar." Reed said before crossing his arms, "And what have I said about teasing him?"
“Aww, come on, Boss.” Denis grinned, “We were just having a little fun.”
“Yeah.” Ash agreed, “Just because Branch is your favorite doesn't mean we can't tease him a little. Guy needs to learn to not be such a stick in the mud.”
“I have faith he will one day but until then take it easy on him.” Reed then smirked, “And he's not my favorite, I just like him better then you two lazy bums. Get back to work.” The tall man chuckled as the two employee's groaned dramatically.
                                         ~*~*~*~*~*~
Lunch was an awkward affair, or maybe Branch just felt awkward as they sat in the outside area of the place Poppy dragged him to, as he picked at the salad he ordered. This felt entirely too intimate even  though they were in public and it certainly wasn't the first time they ate just the two of them. They've been living together for months! Yet it didn't feel this odd when in their apartment as sometimes he'd study while eating and she'd scrapbook or play on her phone. Here it felt as if they were on a date, and he swore the cashier thought that, with nothing to focus on but each other. Of course, he knew Poppy didn't feel the same as she had cheerfully taken pictures of her opened-face sandwich before digging in and talking like she always did about upcoming parties.
Poppy watched Branch as he played more with his food than ate it and look like he wanted to bolt right out of his seat. She wasn't sure what it was that was making him all fidgety, it wasn't like this was the first time they ate together but she wasn't going to let him behave like she was going to bite him or something. Swallowing her bite, she nudged his foot with hers under the table to get his attention, “So how's work today?”
Branch shrugged, still avoiding eye contact with her as he speared some lettuce, “Slow.”
Poppy hummed and tried to think of a way to get him to talk to her, “You seem to be getting along with your co-workers! That's a good thing! Nothing worse than when you can't work together, right?”
“I guess...” He munched on a bite of chicken before continuing, “They can kind of be a bit much but they're not too bad.”
Poppy stuck her lip out, she was hoping he'd elaborate, maybe tell a funny work story about them, but Branch was apparently determined not to say much. She'd try one more time, “The store looked a different from the last time I came in. Did you guys rearrange?”
“Oh.” Branch finally looked up from his food, surprised she had noticed, “Um..sort of. I had just mentioned to Reed that it would be more useful if some items were closer or next to ones that they're usually paired with rather than how they were before. He then asked me if I had any ideas on how I would do it and we...sort of rearranged.” He still couldn't believe that had happened, honestly, no one had ever really listened when he suggested different organization ideas.
Poppy watched as a small smile grew on Branch's face, he probably didn't realize he was doing it, and grinned, “That's great!”
“Um, yeah...” He stuffed a bite into his mouth before talking around it and looking off to the side, “Anyway, Shat's abouwt it.”
The pinkette giggled and took a sip of her drink, thinking that was probably all she'd really get right now but was proud she'd managed to prod him to open up a little. She had to remind herself not to go too far right now, he was kind of like a scared cat, she supposed and she had to be patient. She'd get him to be able to talk to her again, she was positive! And then they'd be able to laugh and sing like before!
Poppy swayed happily in her seat at the thought before watching Branch again. She really was proud of him even he hadn't fully opened up with her. She then tilted her head to side, noticing the way the sun caught his hair and seemed to make it glow and that was when a wonderful, amazing idea hit her!
“Hey!” She exclaimed, setting her glass down hard on the table and gaining his attention, “Know what we should do?!”
“....What?” He didn't like the tone of voice she was using, it meant a crazy plan was forming.
“Now that you're trying to be a better person, we should dye your hair!”
Branch blinked at her, wondering if he heard her right. When she just continued to smile expectantly, he knew she was being serious, “Okay, first!” He held up a finger, “I promised to try to talk to you about...my feelings more. Second! No where in that did I say I wanted nor would I let you dye my hair. How did you even come up with that idea?!”
Poppy flapped a hand in the air, “Doesn't matter and come on! It'll be fun~ You'll be an official member of the Snack Pack then! Well...” She paused and titled her head, “Not that you weren't already but still!”
Branch wasn't sure how to feel about that, he supposed a small hidden part of him was...happy to hear she considered him a part of her closest friend group, another didn't want to be associated with the deranged club. He settled for staring flatly at Poppy, “No. Not happening.”
“Aww, please?!” Poppy begged, “It'll be fun~!”
Branch sat back and crossed his arms, “No, it won't be.”
Poppy pouted, he could be such a spoil-sport, always shooting ideas down without trying and she tried to think of a way to convince him to do it. She then smirked, maybe there was one way, “What? Are you scared?”
Branch puffed up at the insinuation that he was scared of a little colored dye, “No! I'm not scared!”
“Then what's the harm?” Poppy asked, “We could get the semi-permanent stuff that will wash out after a while. They even have dye that works on dark hair so you don't have to worry about bleaching it first!"
“I don't care what sort of dye they have, it's not happening.”
He went to finish some more of his lunch, trying to end this ridiculous conversation when he heard Poppy say, “Chicken.”
He glared up at her, “Excuse me?”
She shrugged and nonchalantly took a bite of her food, “You're chicken. Dying you're hair won't hurt you. You're just afraid you'll like it.”
“No!” How dare she think he was chicken just because he wouldn't go through with her idea.
Poppy smirked before she started clucking, “Bwak, bwak, bwak!”
Branch slammed a fist on the table, making their dishes clink, “I'm not chicken! I just don't want to ruin my hair with all those chemicals! Plus I rather like blending into the background, thank you very much.” He crossed his arms again, “Now drop it.”
“Excuses, excuses. A little hair dye won't change your life but fine, whatever. I'll drop it....Chicken.”
“Poppy...” He warned, that wasn't dropping it.
“Bwak! Bwak! Bwak!”
“Fine! I'll do it!” He shouted, gaining a few stares from other customers, “I'll prove I'm not chicken!”
“That's the spirit!” Poppy cheered, smile a mile wide for her plan had worked, “We'll go pick out a color when you're off work, okay?”
“Fine by me.” Branch growled.
                                               ~*~*~*~*~*~
Branch was seriously regretting letting Poppy goad him into dying his hair as he stared at all the various brands and colors after she had come to pick him up and dragged him into the beauty supplies store. He was currently racking his brain on how to possibly get out of it which was rather difficult with Poppy watching him like a hawk with those big beautiful amber eyes of hers. She had pushed him toward the better products, probably foreseeing he'd tried to pick a cheaper, crummier hair dye but otherwise was letting him pick his poison. He watched her smirk out of the corner of his eye as he 'searched' through the options and frowned, she was enjoying this.
“Come on, Branch~” She sang, “We don't have all day~”
Maybe if he stalled long enough they'd be kicked out of the store and then he'd have more time to think of how to talk her out making him do this...
Poppy smirked again, watching as Branch struggled to find a plan to get out of this but she wasn't going to let him, “Bwak, bwak, bwak!”
Branch flashed a glare at her, “Really?!” He hissed.
She giggled and continued to cluck, flapping her elbows, “Bwak, bwak, Branch.”
Branch growled and, keeping eye contact, grabbed a random box off the shelves before marching to the check out counter, “Let's get this over with.”
                                       ~*~*~*~*~*~
The moment they got home, Poppy eagerly pushed Branch into the bathroom before digging around in the towels. She giggled happily, listening to him mutter and curse under his breath as he opened the box before pulling out an old and stained towel. Branch was frowning at the instruction sheet before she threw the towel in his face and started taking the bottles out. She was glad she had convinced him to let her help him in the car, he would probably over analyze every little thing if she didn't.
“Don't worry about the instructions, I've done this plenty of times.” She flicked her hair for good show, “Now take off your shirt.”
“What?!” Why in the world she need his shirt off for this?!
Poppy rolled her eyes as she turned to get something from the living room, “Do you want dye on your shirt?! Just take it off and put that towel around your shoulders!”
Branch sighed, he still couldn't believe he was letting this happen. Yes, he could just walk away now and tell her to forget the whole thing but he'd be damned if he gave her the satisfaction of him giving up and chickening out. His pride simply wouldn't allow it. So, Branch thought, bring on the hair dye, he'd prove to that beautiful, pink haired woman he wasn't afraid of it.
Poppy came back with a brightly painted stool and sat it down behind Branch. “Sit.” She commanded with a smirk.
Branch glared at her before whipping off his shirt and wrapping the towel around his shoulders, “I don't see the point of the towel. I don't have long hair.”
“Hush, it's the principle of the thing. That towel has seen every one of the Pack at least once get their hair dyed. It's only fair you use it too.” And it was so Poppy didn't get too distracted by his naked chest. She was handling not thinking about just how wonderful it was most days but a little extra insurance never hurt.
Poppy quickly pulled out a pair of gloves from under the sink, the ones in the dye box were usually crummy, and then begin mixing the dye into the developer. She expertly shook the bottle while rubbing a hand through Branch's hair, messing the strands up even more than usual. He frowned at her as she did that and her response was to just giggle back. Once certain the mixture was shaken well, Poppy held the bottle over Branch's head.
“Ready?”
He huffed, “As I'll ever be...”
Rolling her eyes at his less than enthusiastic response, Poppy began applying the solution into his roots. She felt him shiver as the cold dye hit his head before she began to rub it in. She started to hum as she worked, moving around him as she squeezed more into his hair and massaging it in. Branch was mostly silent as she worked, only grunting a few times if she pulled a little too hard. In no time at all, Poppy had emptied the bottle and was now really working the dye into his dark strands, massaging and running her fingers through his hair.
Branch had admit silently to himself that it felt kind of nice having someone else comb through it for once, even if after this his hair would be blue.
“You know,” Poppy spoke up as she rubbed her finger tips deep into his skull to work the dye in, “You chose a pretty good color for your first dye. Once it starts to fade it'll just look like your hair is sort of blue in certain lights.”
“Hmm...” Branch hummed, “Thanks, I guess.”
She giggled, “Not a problem.” She played with his hair a little more before stepping back, “Alright. Now just let that sit for twenty-five minutes and then you can wash it out. Use cold water for best results and wait till the water runs clear before rinsing with the conditioner from the kit.”
Branch sighed, he kind of missed having her hands in his hair, even if it made him want things that would never happen, “Fine...”
                                                    ~*~*~*~*~*~
About an hour later Poppy was puttering around in the kitchen, trying to decide if she wanted to bake cake or brownies when she heard the shower go off. She couldn't help the excited squeal as she waited for Branch to come out with the big reveal. She was only slightly disappointed when he came out with the towel draped over his head but only just because he looked unusually bashful standing in the hallway.
“I..um...haven't looked yet..” Branch couldn't make eye contact with her right now, feeling embarrassed about being nervous about his new hair color.
Poppy couldn't help but giggle lightly, “Alright, let's go look together~” She turned him around and pushed him playfully back toward the bathroom but not before letting her hands linger for a moment on his back. She also couldn't help but take a moment to appreciate his bare back as he walked away. All that smooth, taunt, tawny skin was just as great to look at as his front. But before the pinkette's thoughts could go further she quickly shook them out of her head as Branch called back at her from the bathroom and she went to join him.
They stood in front of the mirror and Poppy smiled at his reflection, hand grabbing a corner of the towel, “Ready?”
Branch took a breath before nodding, “I guess...”
Poppy whipped the towel off his head in a quick motion before 'ooo'-ing at the new color. It was now a pretty shade of blue, something a bit more indigo than navy and she thought it suited him rather well. Branch blinked a few times and tilted his head before running his hands through it.
“I...guess it's not that bad.”
“I think it's great!” Poppy exclaimed, spinning around and reaching up to fluff up his hair, “It's actually really fitting. It's got this sort of purple hue to it but it's still dark enough that at a glance I don't think people will notice it's dyed.” She stood up on her toes to reach more of his hair, fingers threading though the soft strands, “I'm really glad you let me talk you into this. You look great.”
“You goaded me into it but...I guess I don't hate it.”
Poppy giggled and tried to reach more of his hair by stretching up more on her toes, cursing her short height of 5'3” before she suddenly felt herself falling forward. Branch caught her and now she was just inches away from his nose. One hand was still in his hair, fingers no longer combing through, just lightly toying with it, as her other one had landed on his shoulder. Poppy was once again taken back by just how blue his eyes were as she stared at him, not minding his hands on her waist a bit.
“Thanks...” She said softly.
“Not-not a problem...” He replied just as soft. Branch couldn't help but take advantage at what was happening, the air around them suddenly feeling heavier and charged, to try and count just how many freckles were on her cheeks. Not to mention her eyes -those beautiful, gorgeous, amber eyes that he could just fall in- were becoming hooded as she seemed to be leaning in.
“But yeah...that dye..really, really suits you..” Poppy wasn't sure why she was still talking low but she wasn't concerned as something else was telling her to lean in.
Branch hummed, unconsciously tugging her closer as he leaned towards her, his own eyes closing part way as he felt her breath fan over his face. Their faces were just spaces apart when suddenly Poppy's phone began to ring.
Surprised, Poppy flew out of Branch's arms, face flaming red and eyes wide. What had she just been about to do?! “I-uh...Should get that! Yeah!” She then rushed out of the bathroom.
Branch stood there, stunned, because there was no way he had just been about to kiss Poppy. No way at all! But he had, hadn't he? He groaned and scrubbed at his hair. Stupid, stupid, stupid! He should've pushed her away after she tripped not pulled her closer! What was he thinking?! No wonder she had flown away, she was probably repulsed by the thought and now she would be wondering if he liked her that way. He'd have to be more careful around her now, not let his true feelings show anymore because that would be bad. Very, very bad.
Poppy meanwhile was distractedly listening to Satin on the phone, stunned at herself that she had almost kissed Branch. What had she been thinking?! They were friends! Just friends! Yes, okay, she still found him insanely attractive but that was no reason to go kissing the guy!! And she liked Creek! And she was certain he'd ask her to go steady any time now! She couldn't go around kissing other guys when she wanted to date him. It wasn't fair to Creek and it wasn't fair to Branch either. She had to keep a grip on herself, no more mistakes and no more almost accidents.
                                             ~*~*~*~*~*~
You guys have no idea how much I wanted to abandon my outline and have them kiss there. But I still have some plans I wanna do so I had to tease you all instead XD Poppy is still in heavy denial/hasn't thought about why she's so attracted to Branch yet (Other than, yes, he's rather attractive) Maybe she will soon? Who knows? Well...I do but that would be spoilers if I told you ;)
Hope you all enjoyed and stay turned for the next chapter!

A Day in the Life of…Us? - Part 26/30: Language of Flowers
Tumblr media
"Please tell me you're almost done. I'm about ready to kick you in the teeth for this pain."
Teddy merely smiled, soft and serene as he concentrated. This was a momentous moment and he wasn't about ready to give it up. "Almost; just doing the finishing touches now." He slipped his fingers through James' for a quick moment as he refreshed the ink on his needle. "Pain is beauty, Jamie."
It truly was beautiful in the end. Teddy was sure he'd never been more in love with any tattoo he'd ever designed. But he supposed that all stemmed from bias. He cast a few charms to promote healing and to ensure the piece would never fade and…that was that.
Teddy's love was forever immortalized on James Potter's hipbone. It was glorious.
"What do you think?" he whispered, barely containing the urge to run his fingers over the freshly carved skin. "Is the end result worth hearing me beg to tattoo you for years?"
At first, James didn't speak. His body was arched at an awkward angle to see the work of art while still being careful not to irritate the tender skin. "Flowers?" he finally asked after a long look. "You've done flowers on me? Merlin, now I really look like a ponce…."
Since he was already eager and grinning, Teddy was able to brush off the initial reaction. "Not just any flowers. They're flowers that mean something."
"What do foxglove and…and poppies mean, then?"
"Not foxglove," Teddy corrected and helped his boyfriend out of the relaxed chair. He led him to a full mirror, thankful they had the shop to themselves since James' bits were only hardly covered. Holding the boy loosely around the chest, he met his eyes in their reflection. "Poppy and lupin."
"Lupin…," James mulled, the barest start of a smile edging the corner of his mouth. "So that part's easy to get, but how about the poppies? What're they for?"
Teddy couldn't hold back a grin. He'd been planning this meticulously and containing himself had been the hardest part. "Different cultures have varying traits they associate to their flowers. My favorite symbolization for the red poppies is a deep and passionate love, but they can also show remembrance in death. And lupins, in addition to their obvious meaning here, can be used to show a voracious desire for something. Together, entwined in stunning and vivid color, the two represent me wanting to love you until the day I die."
The smile took over James' face for real now; he was truly beaming. "A bit macabre but alright." He leaned up on his toes and turned his head just enough to press his lips to Teddy's chin. "Honestly, it's beautiful. I've said it before, but I'll do it once more – you're talented."
"I'm glad you think so," Teddy murmured, feeling the weight of his nerves sink in at that very moment. It was time. His bones feeling mechanical, he sunk down to the floor. As he did, he turned James to face him with his hands clasped within his own. "Because I do mean it, Jamie," he continued, letting go of James and reaching into his pocket.
"Teddy…," James whispered back and it almost felt like a warning.
Teddy dismissed the worry with a wave of his hand. "I know it seems soon." Far too soon, he was sure. "Victoire and I separated only six months ago…. But I've loved you for so much longer than the time we've had since caving into this. I've loved you since Ginny announced you were growing within her." From his pocket, Teddy produced a jewelry box. It was only too obvious what he was intending and James backed up a step when he saw this. Teddy persisted even in the face of possible heartache. "Nothing has to change if you say 'yes'. We can wait to move in together until you're ready. We can have as long of an engagement as you want. I just…I want to show you just how passionate I am about this relationship and about you."
When Teddy popped the lid of the box, James took another step back. He righted his trousers and looked towards the door. But Teddy kept going. "It's just a ring and nothing has to change. We can keep letting this relationship progress at a reasonable pace. But in the future, however far off that might be, I want to marry you. I want to wake up beside you every morning. I want to fall asleep in your arms every night. I want…I want to raise a family with you and I want to see you grow old. I just want you and I want the world to know it."
James was frowning and he refused to look anywhere but at the flowers on his hip. Recognizing this as thinking, he waited. He waited there with his knee digging into the tile and his arms growing weak from holding the ring out after having worked with them for hours. He would wait until he had an answer. He wasn't the type to give up. "People are going to say-"
"Fuck them," Teddy interrupted.
James sighed heavily and threw his hands in the air. "Yes, then. Just…. I don't want to talk about a wedding anytime soon. Okay?"
All Teddy cared about was the 'yes'. Tears burnt at the corners of his eyes as he stood and pulled James back into his arms. Kissing his face wherever he could while unable to hold back his relieved laughter. "You let me know when you're ready, okay?" While James nodded, Teddy slipped the ring onto his finger. It fit perfectly and matched the rosy gold of Teddy's bracelet. Instead of a wolf adorning the ring, however, the antlers of a stag branched off over the boy's finger. Harry had helped him pick it out, despite his reservations. He'd said there was nothing more perfectly fitting and Teddy couldn't in that moment disagree.

ULTIMATE SHIP = WATERMELON DUMMIES
ULTIMATE SHIP | meme // @theimpalpable
General:
Rate the Ship Awful | Ew | No pics pls | I’m not comfortable | Alright | I like it! | Got Pics? | Let’s do it! | Why is this not getting more attention?! | The OTP to rule all other OTPs !!!!!!
How long will they last? uh, THEY BETTER LAST FOREVER because i love them with every fiber of my being so !!!!
How quickly did/will they fall in love? i think there was definitely feelings right away?? the thing is that these two are so shy and innocent that it took both of them some time before they were like ho woah okay i like you !!
How was their first kiss? THE CUTEST EVER??? because that meant that caradoc took serum for her and my heart just is so full of love when i think about that??
Wedding:
Who proposed? CARADOC. she asked him to be her boyfriend and i could see him wanting to make the next milestone advance. ( though i guess them sharing a room would technically be the next one but shhhh ).
Who is the best man/men? LOGAN his superbro !!
Who is the braid’s maid(s)? since this family is full of boys ( wth @ the genetics ) i would say that willow probably had lexine and poppy as her bridesmaids.
Who did the most planning? i could see them equally sharing the planning? getting married and putting a real stamp on forever is something that totally excites them both.
Who stressed the most? maybe willow? you know she hits emotions easily and i could see doc being the one that calms her down during those moments.
How fancy was the ceremony? - Back of a pickup truck | 2 | 3 | 4 | Normal Church Wedding | 6 | 7 | 8 | 9 | Kate and William wish they were this big.
Who was specifically not invited to the wedding? uhhhhhhhhh marianna and probably brandon?? maybe doc invited brandon though as another olive branch attempt but i think for sure, for sure marianna was not !!!! invited
Sex:
Who is on top? ( me just going through this is making willow blush )…. but probably they switch? i just see what they do as sweet and tender so.. whatever position they end up in is the position they end up in.
Who is the one to instigate things? i don’t think really either one of them does and more so it develops naturally from kissing and etc.
How healthy is their sex life? - Barely touch themselves let alone each other | 2 | 3 | 4 | Once a couple weeks, nothing overboard | 6 | 7 | 8 | 9 ( i only say a nine – would have been a ten but – because these two don’t rely on sex and both have that understanding. due to the special circumstances of their relationship they relish in the small touches, the sweetness, of their relationship instead of climbing on top of each other. | They are humping each other on the couch right now
How kinky are they? - Straight missionary with the lights off | 2 | 3 | 4 (IMAGINE THE BLUSHING THAT HAPPENS ALREADY i could not imagine these two being in the next category lmao ) | Might try some butt stuff and toys | 6 | 7 | 8 | 9 | Don’t go into the sex dungeon without a horse’s head
How long do they normally last? i think it really depends on each session individually, though perhaps sometimes on the shorter side and then others on the longer? only reason i say this is because with doc being under serum it’s not like he can…. build endurance as well u H
Do they make sure each person gets an equal amount of orgasms? i would say yes but also… i see doc being like, a real giver / pleaser? making sure she’s taken care of just because that’s how he is in their every day life already.
How rough are they in bed? - Softer than a butterfly on the back of a bunny | 2 | 3 | 4 | The bed’s shaking and squeaking every time | 6 | 7 | 8 | 9 | Their dirty talk is so vulgar it’d make Dwayne Johnson blush. Also, the wall’s so weak it could collapse the next time they do it.
How much cuddling/snuggling do they do? - No touching after sex | 2 | 3 | 4 | A little spooning at night, or on the couch, but not in public | 6 | 7 | 8 | 9 | They snuggle and kiss more often than a teen couple on their fifth date to a pillow factory.
Children:
How many children will they have naturally? TWO BEAUTIFUL BOYS.
How many children will they adopt? we’ve never talked about this before but i think it would be something willow would be open to. though, we’ve established that the boys are the only kiddos so maybe it was talked about and they decided two was enough?
Who gets stuck with the most diapers? i see this being equal but both have a hard time sometimes because WOW POOP and get a little squeamish… maybe.
Who is the stricter parent? probably willow? even though i don’t really see her bringing down the hammer all that often. their both so lighthearted with the boys, not that they need to be anything more, since their kiddos don’t really get in trouble or overstep bounds.
Who stops the kid(s) from doing dangerous stunts after school? willow ( insert side eye emoji )
Who remembers to pack the lunch(es)? willow! they will be simple ones ( until lex teaches her how to cook ) but she’s definitely the one who does. besides, doc is probably gone due to work a lot of the time that early so it makes sense.
Who is the more loved parent? NEITHER. they are both loved and cherished by evan and farren equally, who express their love in their own ways.
Who is more likely to attend the PTA meetings? i think both, definitely. raising their children together and being on the same page when it comes to their education + life is very important to both of them.
Who cried the most at graduation? oh, please, they both cried equally. i think on some level there was a point in both willow and caradoc’s life where they weren’t sure a family would ever be possible so seeing their boys walk across the stage…. showing how far they’ve come together and as a family? yeah, they’re both crying.
Who is more likely to bail the child(ren) out of trouble with the law? doc, probably. willow would just be a all huffy the whole time but i’m not sure either kid would be in such severe trouble?
Cooking:
Who does the most cooking? hahahah doc…. though i guess i should say lexine, huh!
Who is the most picky in their food choice? willow and she’s not really picky… we just know doc can sometimes be a black hole.
Who does the grocery shopping? i think both? though they probably weren’t great at it at first… had to grow into adult grocery shopping.
How often do they bake desserts? never because lexine does that. girl, hooks it up for these two babes.
Are they more of a meat lover or a salad eater? i’d say meat???
Who is more likely to surprise the other(s) with an anniversary dinner? both do it!
Who is more likely to suggest going out? i think this is also a shared thing. one time it’s doc, another time it’s willow.
Who is more likely to burn the house down accidently while cooking? …… eeesh willow.
Chores:
Who cleans the room? i think that willow’s job isn’t always as demanding as the deadlines that doc has to meet – so often she’s at home and will clean up the entire house when she can, room included!
Who is really against chores? they both are. c’mon, chores suck! but they do them.
Who cleans up after the pets? they both share but since mr. fluffy was a gift from doc willow makes sure to clean up after him as much as possible! her pup, her responsibility…. but we all know doc will take him for a walk / clean up / love on him too.
Who is more likely to sweep everything under the rug? hahahah maybe doc.
Who stresses the most when guests are coming over? i don’t think either stress, really? their guests usually consists of the family or extended family so they’re all people they are comfortable around.
Who found a dollar between the couch cushions while cleaning? doc, that lucky son of a –
Misc:
Who takes the longer showers/baths? willow, probably? i could see her doing it for the sake of looking like a prune and only to show doc her pruney fingers. lmao, why is she like this?
Who takes the dog out for a walk? both!! probably together more often than not but when doc isn’t home ( due to work, etc – maybe highjacked by logan ) she’ll walk him on her own.
How often do they decorate the room/house for the holidays? ALL THE TIME. willow loves, loves, loves christmas so you bet they take holiday pictures and everything.
What are their goals for the relationship? to grow and love one and other, through the good and the bad, the easy and the hard, for the rest of their lives.
Who is most likely to sleep till noon? doc if he could…. i’m js.
Who plays the most pranks? probably doc though willow gets her jabs in too!!!

True Colors
Inspired by: @ask-artsy-oncie, @tisbubb, and @dawnbuneary (Love your content guys)
I didn’t call it “True Colors” because of the song, but because imma try to focus on making it about not hiding your real personality. The first three chapters are mainly fluff, but the next ones will actually get a story going.
P.S This first chapter was made at 4 AM where I am. So sorry for the bad grammar, but it gets better for the next two. I…I wont promise but understand that this is my first Broppy Fanfic. So it might not be as good as others you’ve read. Anyways, enjoy!
“20 years ago, Trolls and Bergens didn’t live together in peace and harmony. The Bergens believed that if they ate a Troll, it’ll give them true happiness like the Trolls had. They had a holiday named Trollstice, where they’d eat a Troll once a year for happiness. However, on a very special Trollstice, King Peppy helped the Trolls escape. On that very day, Prince Gristle was told he’d never be happy, and that the only way he ever will now is to eat a troll.”
“Due to this massacre, they banished a Bergen that was known as Chef. They didn’t really know her real name, but knew she was a Chef. So Chef it was. 20 years after, Princess Poppy, the daughter of King Peppy, decided that it would be a good idea to throw the biggest, the loudest, the craziest party ever for this anniversary. Then, a grumpy and cold-hearted(at the time) Troll named Branch warned the princess of her deeds. Saying that the party was only gonna endanger them and reveal their hiding spot to the Bergens.”
“Sadly, nobody believed him. It was like the boy who cried wolf, instead of a boy warning the people of a wolf coming, and protecting sheep. And then later, after all his lying, when it became true and nobody came to help cause they thought he was lying this time; it was a troll who cried Bergen, and protected the trolls, doing the princess job for her. But because of so many of his false alarms, they didn’t listen to his warning and Princess Poppy threw the party anyway.”
“When announcing why they’re here today, the party was crashed by an evil Bergen, taking some of the Princess friends, and her crush…..at the time” she said, taking a deep breath and then continuing. She had to add “at the time”. Her pause confused some of the kids.
“She saw the damage the Bergen had done, and then wished she never threw the party anyway. She vowed to go after her friends, it was ‘No Troll Left Behind’…..right? But her father believed she couldn’t do it by herself. But she got an idea, ‘maybe if I ask Branch to come, since he’s probably the smartest troll in the village, and he accepts, it’ll be easier to find them!’”
“She ran in down to his highly- camouflaged(?), highly-Fortified(?), safety-proof(?), survival bunker. And she knocked on his door, screaming his name until he answered from his door mat that labeled, 'Go Away!’. She tells him that they’ve been attacked and that she needed his help. After a bit, he shows her his bunker, and then she got another idea. 'If he declines my offer, while I’m gone, the trolls can hide in here instead of relocating’. She smirked and waited for his response”
“But he wasn’t straightforward much, but hinted that he didn’t want to help in the rescue mission. She left his bunker, and then told the Trolls to hide in the bunker. She left on her adventure, meeting many predators until Branch decided he wanted to come and he saved her from spiders(?) who had her captive”
“If there was one thing he didn’t like, was her singing 24/7. He told her the plan and they met up with this cloud-man-dude who was later called, Cloud Guy. He messed with Branch for a bit before he got mad and chased him into the right tunnel. The Bergens were miserable, and they went to find their friend. They watched the princess’s crush get eaten, or so they thought he did” she’d glare a bit at the book when she’d say “the princess’s crush”.
“They found out that the Bergen holding them captive had a crush on King Gristle, the Bergen was named Bridget. They made a deal that if she helped them get a friend of theirs back, they’d make her go on a date with the king. As all went well, the date went smoothly. Later that day, trying to look for their friend, they found their cage and the pet alligator-thing chased after them. Only to later find out that they weren’t in there.”
“Princess Poppy and her friends got captured by Chef, and thrown into their prison. After having hope that they can never find the Trolls, they find out that Troll they used to call a friend, sold them out. All the Trolls were found an put into a pot, loosing all hope and turned grey. But when there was no hope, the grumpy Troll; Branch, stood his ground and sang a lovely song, serenading the princess in the process and restoring the colors of all the hopeless trolls.” She smiled at that part, it was her favorite part out of the whole book about little event with Poppy and Branch having their duet.
“Bridget helped all the Trolls escape, giving a sad goodbye to the princess. But then she realized during their escape that she ruined her life to save the Trolls, and now it was time to give back. They had their little party in the castle, and the Bergens found out that true happiness isn’t something that you put inside of you, cause it’s already there. And then the Trolls and Bergens lived in harmony, as Princess Poppy became Queen Poppy. And Branch became her new boyfriend, with the title Prince Branch, until they get married..” She blushed at the line, but wasn’t noticed yet, her pink skin hiding it.
“And get the title King Branch. The End.” She said as she closed her huge scrapbook. The trollings smiled and clapped at the story, then a trolling raised their hand.
“Is it just me, or did the history book get much longer?” He asked the pink Queen.
She giggles, “YYYup! As time goes on, history continues. And we did make a lot more progress, so it would get longer!”
The yellow female troll raised a hand, “Who was the princess’s Crush’s name? And what happened to them?”
She mentally groans in annoyance from the mention of him, “His name was Creek. And he was banished, and is now an Outlaw.” She answered strictly, meaning that she was serious.
“Why did you have a crush on an outlaw?” One of the trollings asked.
“Back then I did.” She said, getting a bit frustrated with the questions about Creek.
“When you and Prince Branch have a Trolling, can I troll-sit them?” They asked, the queen blushed fiercely at the mention of her and Branch having kids.
She didn’t know how to answer the question, “I-I guess, s-sure” she replied.
“Well, that was reading time. I’ll be back later, you have free-time” She said as she stood up and left the classroom.
She climbs around in the Troll tree, which once was dead and plain, is now alive with vibrant colors. They are still in the process of moving, pods slowly start opening again and the trolls have a home to live. Instead of having a fancy pod like her and her father had cause they were royalty, she decided to live with Branch in his new bunker that was just under the tree roots.
She goes into a pod, and then a troll confronted her. This Troll was one of the best party-throwers in all of the tree. She trusted them, but they also had this suspicion to them, as Branch says. They didn’t really seem so happy to see her, not as happy as she was to see them anyway.
“Hey, Milktoast!” She said, looking for something to give to the trollings in the class, wanting to have more books for her to read to the trollings.
“You missed a meeting with King Gristle.” She mentioned, and Poppy looked like she was gonna panic.
“O-OH! I COMPLETELY FORGOT–” She screamed, but was cut off.
“And you forgot to meet up with the Snack Pack to discuss important matters about what’s happening outside these walls.” She said again, looking a bit more aggressive.
“I-I’m Sorry! I–” She said, before getting cut off again. She looked like she was gonna have a heart attack.
“You can’t be so forgetful! The story was so long, it’s almost time for the Trollings to go home! Not to mention the fact that the moving speed is taking forever, and you should be doing something about it to speed it up!” She said, taking a breath from yelling. Poppy shouldn’t be so forgetful of these things.
“I-I….” Poppy had no words, she looked like she lost all her motivation.
“You have stacks of paper on you desk, I recommend that you start working–” Milktoast was gonna say, but Branch walked in on all the fuss and ruckus.
“ENOUGH!” He said, looking serious. He wasn’t happy about the fact that she’s pressuring Poppy to do her work.
He goes to his Queen, and hugs her reassuringly and protectively. She sighed and rested her head on his chest, her hand placement on his shoulders. He had his hands on her waist.
“Leave her alone. She’s just now becoming queen, you wouldn’t understand cause you’re just a librarian who throws parties. Don’t ever pressure her like that again.” He said, he hated it when someone pressured Poppy, or brought out her insecurities.
He picks up Poppy in his chubby arms. She wraps her arms around his neck, his hands are holding her up from her bottom region. He leads her down from the library to the bunker. After locking it tightly and good, he walked over to their couch and sat her down. He may be a bit chubby, but boy was he strong for a Troll.
He made her sit on his lap, her back pressing against his warm chest and stomach. He gives her some shoulder massages, just to calm her. She ran a hand through her hair.
“Branch. I shouldn’t be sitting here! I should be getting things done!” She said, becoming panicky again.
“Poppy, relax. You’ve done a lot today. Just a 5 minute break?” He begged her, stoping and rested his chin on her shoulder to look at her face.
“Branch….” she said, it was very hard for her to say no to Branch.
“For me?” He added, putting his hands around her waist for comfort and balance.
“Fine…..” she said and sighed, “But only five minutes.”.
She easily relaxed in his grasp. The bunker wasn’t so dark and gloomy anymore, it was now filled with vibrant colors, and it made Branch feel better. He nuzzled into her neck, and every time he’d give gentle kisses to her neck, she’d giggle. She’s very ticklish, but she remembered something.
“Are we ever gonna have…..a trolling to call our own?” She blushed as she asked the question, and looked at him.
He returns the blush, giving it a dark purple, almost a dark blue blush. He has his colors back now, and became more warmer and open to poppy.
“Maybe once you get into the grove of things. Not sure if you can handle a trolling and your Queen duties at once.” He mentioned, and it made sense to her that, having one right now would just add up on her stress.
“Good point. I just wanted to say that.” She said with a smile and relaxed. She loved it when her and Branch could have sometime a lone. When they are together, they felt safe. When apart, they felt Venerable and helpless.
She turns around and nuzzles his nose with a warm smile. He holds her a bit closer, and he kisses her cheek, and she giggles. She legit almost fell asleep when she laid her head on his shoulder and closed her eyes. She was so comfortable and secure, it didn’t even take a minute before she felt drowsy.
“I have to go before I fall asleep” she joked and she sat up and stretched.
“Okay, love. Stay safe.” He said she kisses her, she kisses back with a smile and stands. If it just lasted a bit longer…….but duty calls……right? It that how you use that……catchphrase? Or whatever it’s called.
She leaves in a rush as Branch sighed and cleans up before she gets back.
Later that day, it was 12 AM. She was at her desk, signing and filling out paperwork. She had bags under her eyes, and was extremely tired. She only has gotten through one stack, and has 2 more to do. She could faint or pass out at this point, and she started to slow down.
Branch saw his super tired queen. He didn’t like it when Poppy pushed her limits. He walks over to her quietly, not wanting to startle her. He slowly and gently placed his huge hands into her tiny shoulders.
“It’s time to sleep, Poppy” He said, and used his chubby thumbs to stroke her shoulders.
“I…….need to…….finish” she said in a tired voice and yawned.
“This isn’t healthy. You’re going to bed, wether you like it or not” He said conceded and picked her up.
She couldn’t fight back, way too tired as her eyelids are half-closed. He held her in a bridal style and brought her to bed. He laid her on their new soft bed, and he laid next to her, moving her crown onto the nightstand. He wraps their fluffy blanket over them and held her close again.
She made small cute noises of relaxation, which made him smile. He nuzzled into her, cuddling close to her as she snuggles into him. He kisses her cheek and nose, earning a giggle. He gave a quick sniff of her scent, just to not forget how she smelt like. It was a mixture of lavender and candy like.
She was so close to him, it was like they merged together, a blob of pink and blue. The two fell asleep peacefully, no interruptions whatsoever. Just a calm night, the two lovers laid together. Branch had a dream that he proposed, and became King Branch instead of Prince Branch. And Poppy had the exact same dream.

The Woes and Antics of Living Together-22
Second to last chapter folks! Can you believe it?! We're basically in gratuitous fluff territory now and that makes me so happy. I love fluff XD This chapter is a little bit different from the rest though as I've tried to write it as if you were watching parts of Poppy's blogs. So please excuse any awkward endings, it's harder than you think to write like that.
These don't really follow too much of a timeline other than they're all between a few weeks post!Broppy get together and about a year or so afterwards.
Hope you enjoy!

                                                   ~*~*~*~*~*~
“Cooking with Branch~”
“Hey there, My cupcakes!” Poppy said excitedly to the camera, grinning widely as Branch stood a little awkwardly next to her. They were in their kitchen with a collection of ingredients on the counter in front of them. “I hope you're all ready for this weeks video cause it's one you've all been requesting! Cooking with Branch!” She gestured wildly at him, with wide arms and jazz hands.
“Why did I agree to do this again?” Branch asked, arms crossed as he watched Poppy with a flat look.
“Mmm...” Poppy hummed, finger held to her chin before she grinned at him, “Because you love me~”
Branch blushed bright red and sputtered a little before coughing, “Right...” He sighed, cheeks still pink as he scrubbed at his hair, “So how are we doing this?”
“Just tell them what we're making and how to do it!”
The dark blue haired man looked a little unsure at her before sighing and turning to address the camera, “Right, so...Poppy's requested we make spaghetti sauce and..um...yeah?” He turned back to Poppy to hiss, “This is stupid, what am I actually doing?”
“You're doing fine, Branch.” Poppy said to him, placing her hand on top of his, “Just act like you're teaching me. Explain what you're doing as you do it.” The pinkette flashed a grin at the screen, “Branch's sauce is the best! And great for more than just pasta! It's really good in lasagna and with a few tweaks makes a great pizza sauce too!”
“Right.” Branch took in a breath and breathed out, “So, to start we take onion and start chopping it before sweating in the pan...”
As he began to demonstrate, Branch seemed to forget he was being filmed and went on to confidently explain the process. Poppy jumped in at times, either to pass a ingredient or spice, talking more with the audience about up coming parties and functions. She and Branch even bantered back and forth while Branch stirred the concoction Poppy gushed about smelling amazing. She carefully held the camera up to show the simmering sauce in the pot as Branch explained that it needed to simmer for about an hour or so before it was ready to be eaten.
“And there you have it!” Poppy said brightly as Branch began cleaning up, “Branch's super special pasta sauce!” He could be seen blushing in the background as she praised him, “The recipe will be down below and be sure to comment if you make it! We'd love to hear how you guys like it!” The pinkette wrapped an arm around his to stop him as she made him look at the camera, “Be sure to subscribe if you're new and let us know if you want more cooking segments! I'm sure I can convince Branch to do them~” She winked saucily causing another round of blush to come Branch's face. She giggled gleefully, “See you next time and stay sweet~!”
                                           ~*~*~*~*~*~
“Mini Golfing-So much fun!”
“And we're back, everyone,” Guy Diamond said into the camera, voice taking on a hushed announcer quality, “For the thrilling conclusion of today's epic mini golf battle. Oh the drama! The intrigue!” He flipped the camera to show Branch and Poppy facing one another, competitive looks on their faces as the stood in front of the last hole. “Our contestants are tied at forty-one hits each. Will Poppy 'Play From Your Heart' Meadows come out victorious? Or will Branch 'The Strictler' Hawthorn beat our favorite champion once again? Let's find out.”
Branch broke his stare off with Poppy to glare at Guy, “Who are you calling a strickler?!”
“Ah-ah-ah, Branch!” Poppy said, wagging a finger in front of his face, “Don't go getting distracted. We're about to end this and I'm about to get my championship back!”
Branch snorted and crossed his arms, leaving a smug look toward Poppy, “So sure about that are you? Pretty sure, I beat you fairly soundly last time.”
Poppy stood with her hands on her hips, “Oh, don't be getting so smug, Mister. That was a one time thing and since I'm so sure I'm going to win...What do you say to a little bet?”
The Snack Pack could all be heard going 'Oooooh' in the background and Guy muttered, “Looks like things just got intresting.”
Branch rolled his eyes before smirking, “Fine. What did you have mind?”
Poppy flashed a confident smile up at her boyfriend, “If I win-you come clubbing with us tonight and you have to dance with me. No sitting at table. If you win...” She suddenly leaned up and whispered something in his ear that had a blush bloom against his cheeks and neck before standing back down with a saucy smirk, “Do we have a deal?”
Branch struggled for a moment before he managed to croak out, “Deal!”
“Ooh-ho-ho~! Seems like something naughty was just put on the table.” Guy chuckled before resuming his 'Announcer Voice', “And now, Miss Meadows is lining up her shot.”
Poppy took her time to judge the distance she would need to hit the ball before giving her hips a little wiggle, shimming her shoulders and blowing out a trumpet like sound before she whacked the ball down the course. The ball bounced too and fro, hitting an obstacle or two before rolling to a stop right on the edge of the hole. The Snack Pack all groaned alongside Poppy before Branch took his turn. He took a calmer approach than Poppy, taking a second to glare at Smidge who had coughed before he hit it. It bounced around like Poppy's, rolling hard over a hill before coming to a gentle stop beside Poppy's ball and nudging the pink sphere into the hole. The group of friends cheered and Poppy began a victory dance.
“Oh yeah! I win!” She danced around Branch happily, “Thank for the hole-in-one, Honey~” She then pulled her frowning boyfriend down for a quick kiss. She laughed joyously, before waving her hands up in the air, “Clubbing's gonna be so fun tonight!”
                                                 ~*~*~*~*~*~
FabulousDiamond posted a new video-
“Well!” Guy said into his phone's camera, voice loud to be heard over the pumping music in the club. Bodies of people could be seen in the background as he easily moved between them, “We now know what happens when Branch gets a couple of drinks in him!”
He laughed as he turned the phone to capture the dancing duo in the center of a ring of people. Branch and Poppy, twirling around in a rather impressive display of spins and dips, singing along to 'DJ got us Falling in Love.' Branch didn't seem to care he was being watched as spun Poppy away from him only to bring her back against his chest before dipping her low. Poppy could be seen laughing, said laughter getting drowned out by cheers and music, before she wrapped her arms around Branch's neck and pulled him in for a kiss. More cheers sounded, Guy hooting himself before ending the video.
                                             ~*~*~*~*~*~
“Benefit Concert!!”
“Okay...I think I got it...” A female voice said before the camera focused on a young woman with medium blue hair, some strands still covered in paint. She was standing the middle of an excited crowd, people starting to get hyped for something exciting, “Hey, everyone! Harper here! I'm sure Poppy's already told you all what this is all about so I won't bore you with details. Anyway, I guess I'm guest host for tonight! Oh!” Harper looked off camera before flashing a grin, “Looks like everything's about to get started!”
The camera turned and faced a large stage, colorful streamers and balloons hanging from it. The crowd started cheering and applauding Gristle who was walking out with a microphone. He grinned and waved before gesturing for the crowd to calm down. “Hey there, everyone!! Thanks for coming!” More applause answered him and he had to wait for it to die down before continuing, “You all know why we're here, to help raise funds for a new animal shelter! And I'm please to announce that it looks like we're gonna meet our goal!” Even more cheers sounded, the camera bobbing up and down as Harper bounced and cried happily. “So! Without further ado! Let's give up for your entertainment for tonight!”
The crowd went absolutely wild as Gristle left the stage and the music began to play. Poppy came prancing out, wearing a cute teal blue, sequined dress and a flower headband, “I've got this feeling in my bones~! It's goes electric wavy when I turn it on!”
Branch came strutting out from the opposite side of Poppy, dressed up in shiny black pants, a white shirt and a sequined green vest, “And if you want it, inside your soul.”
“Just open up your heart, let music take control~!” They sang together as they reached center stage. “I got that sunshine in my pocket, got that good soul in my feet! I feel that hot blood in my body, when it drops-” They dropped their shoulders as they slid past each other, “Oooh~! I can't take my eyes off it, movin' so phenomenally! Room on lock, the way we rock it, so don't stop!”
Suddenly the lights illuminated the rest of the Snack Pack behind them, all dressed up in equally glittery outfits as they all sang while Branch and Poppy began dancing with each other, grabbing each other's hands and swinging across the stage, “And under the lights when everything goes... Nowhere to hide when I'm gettin' you close..” Branch made sure to tug Poppy a little closer before spinning her around, “When we move, well, you already know... So just imagine, just imagine, just imagine...!”
Branch spun Poppy away, where she struck a pose before dancing back over to him, “Nothin' I can see but you dance, dance, dance!” He twirled her around some more, never breaking eye contact before she pull away to perform of few of her own moves, “Feel a good, good creepin' up you, so just dance, dance, dance! All those things I shouldn't do but you dance, dance, dance.” Branch slid around Poppy to grab her around her waist before twisting her around and dancing across the stage with her in his arms, “Ain't nobody leavin' soon, so keep dancin'! I can't stop the feelin'! So just dance, dance, dance~” Poppy twisted her hips from side to side before spinning away from Branch, “I can't stop the feelin'! So just dance, dance, dance!”
They continued to dance across the stage, the Snack Pack joining in for more complicated moves, voices harmonizing as the crowd cheered wildly. The camera was jostled slightly but Harper kept it as steady as she could while also enjoying the musical number, crying out Biggie's name happily. The group ended it with a few more complicated looking moves before Branch scooped Poppy up in his arms for a final spin, holding her easily when they stopped and she flung out an arm in a finishing pose. Everyone screamed and cheered loudly for the performers, who happily took bows before the next song began to play.
                                            ~*~*~*~*~*~
“Camping Weekend”
The camera focused on a smiling Poppy, hair down and sort of messy, with a blanket being worn over her shoulders. It could be seen she was sitting in a bright green tent on what could only be described as a nest of blankets with the pitter-pattering of rain echoing around her. A bit of blue hair could be seen sticking out from the breathing pile of blankets beside her. She giggled softly as she adjusted and glanced around her surroundings.
“So, it started raining,” She said with another giggle, “But hey, at least Branch and I are all snug and warm in our tent. And I know all our supplies is safely protected too, so we don't have to worry about that. Having a paranoid, 'everything's gonna go wrong' boyfriend comes in handy, I guess!”
“Ha-ha, very funny.” Branch's voice floated up flatly from his cocoon.
“Aww, you know I don't mean that.” She snickered lightly, hand reaching over to card her fingers through his hair, “But really,” She now addressed the camera again, “Having Mister 'Man with a Plan' here is great. And as you can see, he's made us a nice cozy nest of pretty much all the blankets from home! You'd think camping would have more sleeping bags!”
“Well excuse me for saving us the uncomfortableness that is sleeping on the cold hard ground.” Branch grumbled.
Poppy laughed and gently pushed his shoulder, “I'm not complaining and you know it!” She giggled some more, “Anyway... Hopefully the rain stops soon so we can go on that hike I mentioned earlier. I was so looking forward to it! And showing you all the pretty scenery!” She pouted slightly as Branch mumbled something about 'stupid weather apps' before she sighed, “But I guess if we can't, we can't...We've still had so much fun already! Isn't that right, Branch?”
Branch hummed his agreement before unwrapping an arm and throwing it around Poppy's waist, “And if we do have to go home early, we can come back and do this again.”
“Yup!” Poppy agreed brightly, “So I guess I'll see you all either on the trail or on the car ride home! Till later!”
                                                    ~*~*~*~*~*~
“Karaoke Night~!”
The Karaoke bar featured was lit intimately, lights low with the lit candles on the tables giving everything a warm glow. Milton was currently on stage, crooning a love ballad to Smidge who sat close to the stage with a blush staining her cheeks. The rest of the patrons all watched, some smiling at the display, some boredly, other's, like Bridget and Gristle, swaying in their seats to the music. Poppy's signature giggle could be heard coming softly from behind the camera before she started half whispering to someone.
“Come on, you promised.” She said, a slightly whine in her otherwise playful tone.
Branch's groan was then heard, “Poppy...”
“Pleeease? You do it so well at home~ And it's not like this is your first time singing in front of us.”
A long suffering sigh was then heard, “Fine, fine. I'll do it.” There was a brief moment of silence between then before Poppy could be heard giggling again and Branch could be heard saying, “Why do I let you talk me into these things?”
“Because you love me~”
“Hmm...I guess I do.”
The people then began clapping as Milton finished, Poppy joining in happily before shooing Branch up on stage. She then twisted the camera to film him going up and choosing the song he was going to sing, excited giggles escaping her, “Oh, you guys are gonna love this!”
Branch took the stage with a mild amount of applause, most coming from the Snack Pack, before shaking his head, a fond smile gracing it, as Poppy wolf whistled at him. He then nodded for the music to start playing. A slow, jazzy piano tune started to play and Branch began, his angel like voice filtering through the place.
“Mama, I don't have time for dancin'...That's just gonna have to wait a while~ Ain't got time for messin' around and it's not my style...” He swayed side to side, eyes closed, “This old town can slow you down, people takin' the easy way... But I know exactly where I'm goin', gettin' closer n' closer ever day~!”
As the music began to turn more jaunty, Branch started to move with it, shoulders bouncing, “And I'm almost there! I'm almost there. People down here think I'm crazy,” He spun a finger beside his ear, grinning toward where the Snack Pack sat, “But I don't care! Trials and tribulations, I've had my share, there ain't nothin' that's gonna stop me now, and I'm almost there!”
He tapped his foot to the beat as he removed the microphone from the stand, looking up and off to the side, “I remember Daddy told me, fairy tales can come true. You gotta make them happen, it all depends on you~” He faced and smiled at the small audience then, “So I work real hard each and every day, now things for sure are going my way. Just doin' what I do, look out girls I'm coming through~!” He flashed a wink at Poppy that had her laughing in enjoyment.
“And I'm almost there! I'm almost there. People gonna come here from everywhere! I'm almost there and I'm almost there!” Just the music played while Branch took a breath before the tone turned soft again and he stepped off stage, “There's been trials and tribulations, you know I've had my share...” He walked over just slightly off camera before pulling Poppy back towards the stage, the music picking up again, “But I've climbed a mountain and I've crossed a river and I'm almost there! I'm almost there. And I'm aaallmost-” He sudden picked up Poppy and spun her around as he sang the last note proudly, “Theeeeeeeeere!” He sat her down, grinning down at her, “I'm almost there.”
The crowd cheered as Poppy giggled in his arms before wrapping her arms around his neck and pulling him in for a short kiss. More cheers and a few wolf-whistles sounded before Poppy pulled back and flounced her way up on stage, claiming she was next.
                                                    ~*~*~*~*~*~
“Let's Pack! Pt 2”
Poppy was laughing as she placed DVD's and games into another box, regaling to her audience about the time where she and the Snack Pack had been having a Murder Mystery party and Guy had hypnotized Cooper, “So! Cooper thought he was the worlds greatest detective for like three days! Then he started solving things that didn't need to be solved and almost ruined a big surprise Chenille had for Satin so that's when Guy and I convinced him he need to solve the 'Case of the Missing Cooper' and-” She snorted slightly as she grinned, “He 'solved' it by becoming Cooper again!” She giggled while shaking her head, placing a few more movies in her current box before taping it up.
“So-” Before she could be began another tale, Branch suddenly cried out.
“Branch?! What happened?!” Poppy cried, already half up before Branch replied.
“I found more goddamn glitter in the carpet!!!”
“Oh...” Poppy sank back down with a snicker, trying to hide it behind her hand.
“This is no laughing matter!” Branch's voice got clearer as he came out into the living room, “How can there be glitter everywhere?! I've vacuumed five times and I keep finding it!! It is not invading our new apartment! No, sire-e! Nu-uh! You can find a different hobby!”
Poppy giggled, “You can't contain the glitter, Branch! And it's gonna invade alright, you know you can't stop me from using it.”
“I can try!” He huffed, crossing his arms.
Poppy laughed as she got up and walked over to Branch, throwing her arms around his neck as she stood on her toes, “You can, true! But if you can have your ration box, I can have my glitter. And I did promise to try and keep in my new craft room, remember?”
“Yeah, yeah...” He wrapped his arms around her, rubbing his nose against hers, “How's it going out here?”
“It's great! I was just telling everyone about the time Cooper got hypnotized into Chummy Sparklestone!”
Branch snorted as he pulled away, “Course you were.” Shaking his head, mouth quirked up as he looked at Poppy fondly before speaking up, “Comment and tell Poppy how pointless glitter is!”
“Hey!” She cried indignantly, “It is not!” She playfully swatted at him as she turned to the camera, “Don't comment that! Comment on how much Branch needs to embrace the glitter!”
“Never!” He shouted before picking her up and spinning her around the empty looking living room, most of Poppy's pictures packed away already.
Poppy squealed and laughed as Branch put her down, kissing the top of her head before she pulled away. Picking up the camera she smiled at it, “Well, guys, I think I'll leave this here for now. Updates can be seen on my other social and next time you see us, we'll be at the new place! Stay sweet~!”
                                             ~*~*~*~*~*~
And there you have it! Some short, sweet shots of Broppy goodness! I hope I managed to pull off Branch getting more confident during his time together with Poppy. He's at least gotten use to her vlogging a lot of things lol! Anyway, last chapter will be the epilogue and this will be completed. Aahhh!! I can't believe it's almost over!  (Also I'd like to point out in Guy's short vid, Branch isn't really drunk, he's just had just enough to not let his social anxiety get to him too much and to just enjoy dancing with Poppy. Branch would never allow himself to get horribly drunk.)

The Queen and the Butterfly II: The Witch’s Curse - Part 1
This story is a sequel to “The Queen and the Butterfly”.
The story: Poppy offers Branch some cupcakes with butterflies in it which turns out to be mysterious. When the two Trolls eat them, they got transformed into butterflies themselves and realize that the cupcakes were actually cursed by an evil witch! Now they must try to find the witch who made those cupcakes and get a cure to get themselves back to normal, while encountering obstacles in the process along the way.
Now without further ado, here’s the story:
It was yet another quiet day in Troll Village. Trolls were going about their business: singing, dancing and hugging every day.
Let’s not forget that the village also has a highly-camouflaged, heavily-fortified survival bunker. And who lives in this big underground home by himself? Yep, it’s Branch, because he always lives here all the time.
Deep in his underground basement, in his little bedroom, Branch was sitting on his bed, playing a video game. He was pressing the button controls on his controller as the game started making noises as he presses them.
PSH! PSHO!! PING! PIONG! DING!
Tumblr media
Branch knew this was the perfect time to relax...until...
KNOCK! KNOCK! KNOCK!
Somebody was knocking on his bedroom door.
Branch was still having his eyes locked into the screen but managed to keep an eye on the door. Who is knocking it?
“Hey, Branch! Come out here! I got something to show you!”
Branch groaned. He recognized that voice! It was no other Troll than Queen Poppy!
Tumblr media
As soon as he heard her voice, he immediately answered “Uh, okay! Be there in just a sec! I gotta finish this first!”
He turned his head back to the game he was playing and danced his fingers around the buttons, attempting to finish the level he was in.
But the door knocked even harder!
KNOCK! KNOCK! KNOCK!
“Branch! Are you even finished?!”
BOOM!!!
Game Over!
“Arrrrgh!” Branch sighed in frustration and dropped his controller. Then he switched off his television set and hurried out to the living room. Poppy was already there, exiting the elevator and holding her picnic basket.
As she bounded her way to Branch’s table, her boyfriend greeted her proudly “Hey, Poppy! How’s it going?”
Tumblr media
“Hi, Branch!” Poppy chirped and smirked at her friend, who waved back and blushed purple in embarrassment. After all this time since the Bergens threw the Trolls in a cooking pot last year, he still has romantic feelings for this lovable pink Troll.
“What do you brought for me?” Branch asked, glancing at Poppy’s picnic basket.
“Oh, I’ve brought something very sweet for you!” she answered with a wide grin. She skipped to the table and puts her basket on it. Then she grabbed something from it and showed it to Branch.
“Ta-da! I hope you like this!”
Tumblr media
Branch grimaced. Poppy was presenting him a chocolate cupcake with vanilla frosting decorated with candy butterflies. He immediately grew sick.
“Poppy, what is that?” he protested. “Are those butterflies in a cake?”
“No, Branch!” Poppy giggled. “It’s a cupcake! Decorated with butterflies made out of candy in it!”
Candy butterflies? thought Branch. He knew this was the time to reason Poppy about this because he’d never seen cupcakes like this before. As any other Troll would know about it, Trolls don’t seem to eat those cupcakes either!
“Where did you find it, Poppy?” he asked her.
“Oh, I honestly don’t know where I get this.” Poppy moved the cupcake closer to her face and glanced at it. “But I think I got these from an old hermit just now.”
“An old hermit?”
“Yeah. Why so curious?”
“Tell me how the hermit gave you this special cupcake.”
It is true. Hopefully Poppy wanted to know how did she find this but she doesn’t want to disappoint her friend. So she remembered the day she was walking around Troll Town and encountered a mysterious person wearing a hood, selling some candy butterfly cupcakes in a shop. A sign on the shop read:
“Butterfly Cupcakes For Sale!”
And it completes with two paintings of the butterfly cupcakes.
Tumblr media
Poppy grinned as wide as she could when she sees the shop. So she skipped to it and pointed to the cupcakes, squealing “Oooooh! Are those chocolate cupcakes with butterfly candies in some vanilla frosting?!”
The hooded person nodded. “Yes. They’re for sale today! Would you like to buy one?”
Poppy groaned. She was very hungry at the last minute she cried “I want them all! Please?! These are so cute! I also want to share these with my boyfriend Branch because he would like to try those!”
Tumblr media
Suddenly, Branch cuts off the flashback, insisting Poppy “Whoa, whoa! Poppy! You got these cupcakes FROM A STRANGER?!”
Poppy ignored his concern, saying “ She’s not a stranger, Branch. She’s just selling those cupcakes and I bet it was a good idea to trust people like her!”
“Poppy, you can’t just trust a stranger selling strange products like this!” said Branch. “What if those cupcakes are mysteriously poisoned?!”
He could tell Poppy that he is feeling suspicious of what is going on with these cupcakes but he had the feeling that it was going to disappoint her. He clenched his fists furiously, immediately thinking what is going to happen if a Troll would eat these cupcakes.
Branch, you’ve been always stupid, stupid, stupid, he told himself. Poppy will never forgive you if you are always paranoid like this!
She’ll never trust you again!
What am I talking about?! She’ll never see my feelings!
“Branch, are you okay?” Poppy asked anxiously, snapping him out of it.
“Uh, yeah! I’m fine! I’m just being worried, that’s all!”
“Well, stop being such a grumpy paranoid pussy! I’m pretty much starting to think how can we fit these cakes into our mouths!”
Tumblr media
“But what if they have an unpleasant effect on us? I’m not sure if we can trust that stupid hermit!”
“Branch!” Poppy snapped. She knew Branch was disrespecting somebody because he’s been a little arrogant since he got his true colors back.
Branch made a guilt face and apologized “I’m sorry, Poppy. I was just being concerned...”
Tumblr media
Poppy told him gently “Branch, I truly understand how concerned you are. But please try one. I’m sure they would look sweet and creamy when we eat them!”
“But Poppy, I don’t think it is good idea!”
“Oh, but I’m certain we’ll love it, okay? Now please have one!” Poppy handed over one of the butterfly cupcakes to Branch and he stared at it suspiciously. For sure, he would have to know if Poppy said it would be just like a regular cupcake that Trolls normally ate. But he was also confused at the same time.

He glanced at Poppy, who is proudly devouring one of the cupcakes, and then felt a little uneasy. He had a little sensation that he might vomit completely.
So Branch took a deep breath, closed his eyes and took a bite on the tiny little cake. The chunk of the cake went through his mouth along with one of the candy butterflies.

As he was eating, he mumbled to himself “This definitely tastes so normal...”
But then his stomach started churning. Urrrkkkkkkk!
His mouth was filled with a strange taste.
Finally Branch managed to swallow. He was gagging on the lump in his mouth. Whatever it was, it wasn’t a cupcake!
After forcing this hideous thing down his throat, a spasm of pain exploded through his body. He grunted as he clutched his hands on to his stomach and a blue line unexpectedly grew from the top of his head!

POING!
It curled into a spiral. Branch pulled it gently and winced. The line was completely stuck on his head. This could mean only one thing...

He looked at Poppy, still gobbling down her cupcake. As another line sprouted from the right side of his head, Branch grabbed her arm and shouted “Wait, Poppy! Don’t eat that cupcake! I think something’s wrong with it!”
Tumblr media
“Branch, nothing’s wrong with these cupcakes!” she said firmly. “They taste a little normal to me...”
Suddenly, Poppy and Branch’s stomachs begin churning more painfully as they clutched tightly on to them. Lines began to sprout onto Poppy’s head. And then brightly-colored blue butterfly wings sprouted from behind Branch as he and Poppy float into the air, causing them to drop their eaten cupcakes!
“Huh?!” Poppy yelled. “What’s happening?!”
“I don’t know Poppy!” Branch yelled back. “I think we’re transforming!”
Tumblr media
He was right. Poppy could feel her limbs shrinking and wings sprouting from behind her. The two Trolls’ bodies shrank into the shape of beans as they begin shrinking...
Finally, their whole world went black!
