I drew Etho from an au I'm working on where all the lifers (and maybe empires and hermitcraft?) are trapped in an area where the air is toxic and turns you into a super powered mutant/hybrid (this has the side effect of making you go insane).

I only just conceptualized this au today, and originally just drew Etho because "haha, gas mask and blue cool" but from what I've thought of, I know that Etho is meant to be a fairly menacing and morally grey character in this. He's looking out for number one. So he ends up hoarding resources and kind of being a sort of like, wandering trader type guy? Like he trades a lot of medical stuff for like, food and weapons and things that could benefit him. About his design. So he's in the early stages of mutation. I'd say mutation efficiency varies from person to person. So I'd imagine Etho got a gas mask fairly early on, about a week or so, but the mutation grew very quickly on him. So while he still has his wits about him, he's definitely less compassionate and a bit more brutal than before. He doesn't take the mask off unless it's to eat and drink. He used to have black hair, there are some bits remaining. And obviously his ears have changed and he also has a tail. His skin is gradually paling and his veins, inside of mouth, and blood have turned blue. Any blue bits on him (eye, tail, claws) glow in the dark. The like, fog that's surrounding him is his manifestation of an ability. He can, control oxygen and heat levels with his breath? I guess? That's the best way to explain it. Like, his breath is super cold, so he can breath frost, and freeze things over to an extent with it. But it's also very oxygenated, so he could breathe underwater if he wanted to (this man is a CHAMPION at mouth-to-mouth resuscitation).

I'm high rn and just now I had a thought. About stage play adaptations of games I like.

Ramblings under the cut.

First I think about how cool a Fran Bow play would be. Like with all the monsters and creatures as puppets and the humans being played by people. Like so many choices to be made with that. Holy fuck it'd be so cool. Only thing would be figuring out how to smoothly use the pills, bc that's the only real player controlled thing, but that's like figuring out where portals go in portal it's easy to figure out and people made a play based on Portal 2 so.

Also Undertale. It's a story that can't really be properly told outside of a video game rpg context but I'm just a theater kid and just an Undertale fan even if it was like less serious I think it'd still be fun. I imagine it would have a certain amount of audience interaction like oregon trail style, like naming the human and maybe a few pre-planned deaths to establish the reset powers, maybe the puzzles too. Monsters being played by a mix of people in cosplay and puppets, maybe planned out to fit thematically rather than if it looked silly or something. Like MTT's bot form could just be a puppet, Flowey could be like a puppet (Audrey 2 style for the omega flowey battle), maybe the amalgamates could be like. People controlling weird puppets made of contrasting and purposefully (cartoon) grotesque/gross looking stuff. Gasp the MTT EX reveal could have him coming out from under a curtain/sheet like a a little nod to his ghost origins (yk like sheet ghosts). And there'd probably be a screen or projections used for stuff like the battles, simply because I would want some actual visuals like the game and that's basically impossible to achieve in hypothetical for fun non professional theater. I keep going back and forth between including a narrator (hashtag narrachara, if I found a way to implement a way to choose a route, already getting ideas), and not, bc you don't need one as much. Could be for very specific things. Idk. I'd still want Frisk to be silent bc it's part of their weird kid charm.

Gasp imagine a Deltarune play. Ok ok I'm gonna press the brakes. I wanna think of a set for a hypothetical Fran Bow play. I deadass wanna write it now. Direct even. Would there ever be a way to create a Fran Bow stageplay bc low-key if I don't drop the idea in five seconds and had people doing it with me it would be so epic. I am moving to an artsy college town soon so maybe if I establish theater connections I could actually try 👀

The one problem with all of these games is that they're a little too long to be plays, but I'm sure writing out a script and cutting out obviously gameplay time it might be faster. Hard to tell. I'll lock in.
