finally figured out how to combine these two crochet patterns but now I have to write it down :/
#either I draw up my own diagram#or I write out the instructions#I thinking writing would be easier#but it would be easier for me to follow a diagram again in the future#anyway#I actually had to read a pattern for the first time#so I could learn how to do one of the patterns I needed for this one#it probably helped that I had already done a similar pattern using a diagram#but reading it was far easier than I expected#Iāll probably end up drawing my own diagram

oh boy !! ! ! ! !!! ! thANK y0u all for the kind words on my last art posts. you all get it and i was/still am so happy about it
as promised, here's some close-ups of the comic for image quality's sake, and other screenshots i rescued from the community whiteboard (and something else)
first up another sketch of mystery gender-ambiguous being. (please send me more name ideas for them if you got one- i like to hear em! (reminder it's the side character that appeared for <10 seconds in AvM Ep. 30))
a few fav scenes
emotional support cwab
they weren't meant for this purpose exactly, but i do have countless "fluffy sticks" loose in my notes and homework sheets from the school years.
papery critter.
even when i wasn't confident in fur or feathers, they helped me practice posing and create some satisfying gradients/flowing poses. (im a sucker for good tail poses) (oh yay! i found a good pic...)
and finally, little sneak peak for you for reading so far ;3
i realized that whiteboardfox is pretty great for my working needs. simple and to the point and all. feels nice with the mouse and the tablet.
so i started hashing out a big project idea just to see if it holds up and
[
several hours later ...
]
oh
oh man

it's a little bigger than i expected

Oooouuugghh having issues
Back a long time ago. A looooong long time ago. When cosplay was still mostly a crafting hobby. I got into electronics. Like 2008.
Now that I have space and money to do electronics finally, everything is done in CODEBLOCKS and my lack of a formal college level math education means I have NO IDEA WHAT ANY OF THESE THINGS ARE CALLED
#im familiar with writing them out logically but idk the technical names#so now I have to scrounge for clues to follow the instructions

how i find the source of art (and other things) to provide proper credits!
on (windows) desktop, i get the link of the image -> for ex, in tumblr:
then go to https://images.google.com/ and click that little square icon
so you can enter the url for the link without needing to download the image
drag the little selection thing on the image to pick the full thing otherwise it will only try to match the selected area
at the top result, it will have a link for see exact matches:
and fortunately for us, in this case, it takes us to the source right away. often times i will scroll through a bunch of pages of reposts, sometimes eventually tracking down the original source, and sometimes never finding it. but i feel like it's worth the time, especially with art
on mobile, i will download the image and use google lens from google photos, which is the same service - and a way to copy text from images easily, which is also extremely handy
art i used for this example: My turquoise bottles (170), 2023 by Serpil Ćmit - source
#art#attribution#reposting art#credit to original artist#reverse image search#tutorial#but actually providing credits and links and info to the original artist#i *HATE* tumblr culture of reposting literally motherfucking everything without attribution#ESPECIALLY when someone has made an effort to crop out the credits - people do it with tiktok all the time#there are other services besides google but with my limited testing of other sites i've had the best results with google#anyway it can take a few minutes to do a brief search and if i'm gonna reblog i will take the time to look for credits if not provided#you know i'm pissy when i'm writing up instructions :p#can you tell i worked in IT for over a decade with a lot of documentation of process experience :P

Wip Wednesday| Instructions on Mindful Focus | chapter 1 | Past posts: X X X X X
Agent Hunt 'relaxed' further into the couch. Martha couldn't help but wonder if he was shifting the tension from the core and into his limbs, or maybe he was forcibly relaxing his muscles. Not that she could blame Hunt for his ruse, most field agents viewed a visit with the Psych Department like most people view a visit to a dentist. Unnerving, uncomfortable, and, occasionally, painful. It didn't help that there was an annoyingly persistent rumor that everything the agents said in a session would be funneled directly to the CIA. The rumor was completely false, of course, but agents tend to be paranoid at the best of time. For pity's sake, the counselors and therapists of the psych department weren't even allowed to use real names in their documents! Each patient had to be given a code name to be used in place of name, pronoun, or any other identifying article in the written documents. 'Safety through obfuscation', the unofficial motto of the IMF, or at least it was for the Psych Division. All documentation produced before, during, or after a session had to be written by hand, never typed on computer or typewriter, and stored in self-immolating file cabinets. Press the right spot or enter an incorrect code, and all of the files would be burnt to ash in seconds. It wasn't anything new to her. In Martha's last job, anonymity was a selling point to most clients. Martha preferred to wait 'til the end of the first session to give a pseudonym. It gave her a chance to get to know them and let the nickname cement itself in her mind. Right now her notes were filled with little blank spaces just waiting to be filled with the distillation of a person. Flicking her eyes over the man on her couch, she couldn't help but correlate the unnatural stillness of Agent Hunt and a Sheep dog belly down in the grass after an order to Wait.
#its exposition time baby!#I spent entirely to much time trying to figure out how to securely store incredibly sensitive information#Seriously a list of agents potential triggers/psychological profile/weakest points would be devastating in the wrong hands#can you tell i've been reading/listening to Tom Clancy again?#instructions on mindful focus#mission impossible#I really need a tag for stuff I write#wip wednesday

#Was at my desk doing data entry when out of the office next to me walks a man whoās so tall so beautiful so gorgeous I am in shambles#My head literally TURNED I had to refocus on what the girl was instructing me to do w the stuff I was working on#I literally tried to see if he had a ring on his way back to his office but this man walks FAST . He walks so fast#I had to write this and get it out of my system bc Iām literally filling important patient information rn#Whoever this man is he has beautiful hair . And a lean stature. And a beautiful prefix (doctor)#Omg and his facial hair is perfect itās so over for me#I canāt be over here obsessing over him every day OK expunging the thought NOW#I needed (in the past tense bc we donāt identify w these thought patterns) him to rail me ok Iām done for real goodbye

Really love the vibe of the first-person cutscenes/sections, feels like something straight out of an ENA animation.

What the fuck man?
#who writes instruction like that?!#(it wasn't actually hard to follow but i did have to write down the order)#enjoying the game so far :)#only played like 2 and a half hours but I may resume later just cause i'm invested now#its pretty inventory screen-heavy but i expected that#controls are pretty good for a horror game (clunky enough to add tension but not to the point of being obnoxious)#only real nitpick is that i wish you could peak through doors to know if an enemy is standing right next to it#i mean yeah i get it its a horror game it would probably break the tension#but having to run in and out of doors until an enemy is far enough away to shoot/evade can be mildly annoying at times#ramblings#signalis

in general i think its better to push different mediums, artforms, techniques, etc to accommodate the disabled artist rather than pushing the disabled artist to accommodate the medium. perfectionism and perserverating on doing things the "right" way is the enemy, any shortcut (photocopying, copypasting digitally, whatever) that gets you part way there is hashtag innovation and i think its worth exploring that
#of course part of this is me complaining about whatever the hell is going on in southern ontarian art academia and institution once again <3#we're kinda behind i think. not totally. but theres a weird amount of setbacks philosophically#visual culture major voice: we already hashed this out in the 70s bitch get with the program#its interesting how uninterested my professors are in this stuff tho. i need to make them interested. i need to write a paper LOL#i dunno like im not much of an educator but i am interested in instruction. because im finding im kinda. good at it sometimes#and nothings more useful in teaching someone a skill than learning the different techniques disabled artists use#ive been able to help a couple people with my own tricks and shortcuts. i think theres a lot here.....

#hi. i think this edit is almost done#well. no. it IS almost done. probably gonna finish it tomorrow#i really want to do some writing today but will i?#i think i need to join like. a writing group or something bc i suck at self motivating but#idk. sounds scary. so. probably not.#i wouldn't know where to find one anyway & if i did. i probably wouldn't interact much.#i'm one of those doesn't speak unless spoken to people tbh#n e way. i've been really into my plants lately lol#my lil round cactus is growing fruits!!!!#it's never done that before so i'm hoping to save the seeds & try growing them myself. gonna set up a terrarium#& my haworthia is looking significantly better than it was before#it was all sunburned & sad but now it's very green!!! & happier!! i think i need to water it today#my desert rose however....... needs work. i don't think i know how to take care of it very well.#i looked up care instructions & it said to keep the soil moist but also to let it dry out completely so??? idk that's a lil confusing#i'm gonna put it in a more gravelly soil & see if that helps#i also propped my bunny ear cactus bc it was getting all droopy & heavy so#now i'm gonna have baby cacti!! so exciting#rainyrambles

baking never feels more like science to me than when i'm trying to cobble together an intricate multi step recipe together from several different recipes and tutorials online because the recipe I'm imagining doesn't exist....
#genuinely feels like a science experiment making something fancier than a frosted layer cake#have to do all kinds of volume and weight conversions because one recipe is japanese and the other is indian and the other is english lmfao#none of the recipes are probably the exact volume I need so i might have to make some minis with my extra stuff#i have to find a very precise sheet pan size tomorrow for the patterned cake i'm gonna use as the outer bit#otherwise i'll have to make my own from parchment paper??? or tin foil??? man idk.....#i had to write out all of my instructions and ingredient lists so i don't have to go between 6 different websites tomorrow/sat#i had to do research on fucking. gelatine šbecause it's impossible to find gelatine sheets here and they're used in EVERY mousse recipe#and there's apparently a huge debate on what the ACTUAL conversion of sheet gelatine to powdered gelatine is for baking#I also had to type up like an exact order to make each component because most need a significant amount of cooling time#grayson im gonna try my hardest to make you this fancy ass lemon cake and i pray i succeed this time where i failed on my own birthday#2 yrs ago but also i think this will go better bc i'm not doing a jelly insert or a candied mirror glaze#I'm also making my own candied lemons and lemon curd even though i don't have to#mostly because i wanna try doing it and the sheer power of getting to say i made the whole thing from scratch *#minus the actual cake mix because i don't have a good from scratch cake track record and box mixes are so so reliable#and i have too many moving parts to worry about finding a new cake recipe#every fucking cake recipe now is a fucking genoise sponge for SOME REASON#which is NOTORIOUSLY DIFFICULT AND A HUGE PAIN IN THE ASS BECAUSE IT USES NO RISING AGENTS#i want to throttle whoever it was that made online recipe people turn to only using variations of a genoise sponge for their cake recipes#honestly i need to maybe join the baking subreddit and ask for some good old baking/cookbooks with reliable baking recipes#ones that aren't crazy labor intensive for fucks sake i'm not a french patisserie#my stuff#it would be cool to one day have baked enough and have enough know how of how standard baking recipe components work#so i can just come up with my own recipes on my own#and just use whatever flavors i want#i feel like i would enjoy being a baker except if i had to make wedding cakes

Anyone else have near-perfect executive function at work; but at home, have literally no energy or motivation to do anything except lie in a dark room, with something in or on your ears for several hours?
#Itās got to be the schedule keeping me on task at work#I love microdosing strict routines (not having an actual routine for the day; but having routines for small tasks#which piss me off if I canāt carry them out precisely the way I planned)#For instance: If Iām asked to paperclip a bunch of stuff together with multicolored paperclips of various sizes#I cannot just indiscriminately pick paperclips from the container because that is WRONG and ILLEGAL#The colors must fit the theme of the assignments; and the colors must alternate in a specific order#and the paperclips must all be the same size#If Iām asked to dump out and clean containers of writing utensils I am going to sort them by type and color#whether you like it or not#Black permanent markers have their own container in a different section from the blue permanent markers#Dry-erase markers are not to be mixed with permanent markers because they are easily confused and it is WRONG and ILLEGAL#Do not fuck with the system. Itās the only organizational skill I have and by fucking GOD Iām going to use it in EXCESS#I stuff and fill out envelopes the exact same way every time because if I do it any other way it is WRONG and ILLEGAL#The stamp always goes on last to minimize monetary waste if there is a mistake#Now youād think my room is squeaky clean and organized because of how particular I am about these small tasks#Right? Right?#NO IT IS NOT. It looks like a bomb went off. Cleaning the room is a big task which cannot be accomplished within two hours#therefore I have discarded it as anything I need a routine for because it would take too long to come up with#and it is very hard for me to do things like that without instructions or a sense of consistency#So I simply donāt#āAfter five years the dust doesnāt get any worseā correct; but the mold certainly does#I am convinced half my problems with organization as a kid would have been solved if I just had a hamper#āWe have a clothes chute; you donāt need a hamperā Maybe you donāt but I DO#I want one now; but Iām going to use it as incentive to get an apartment#because thatās another thing I need to smuggle and I have too much already

Not me trying to salvage what I really think might be an AI generated pattern for the damn coveralls x.x
#fungi are friends not food#so part of why they're not done is because i got really frustrated with the pattern and instructions#because they felt like they didn't make sense. in the 'a human did not write this or draft this' way#but I'm gonna see if i can salvage it#the measurements are all out of whack too

I stg I don't even ship Dante/Nero as like, a real thing, it's just all my Dante/Vergil stuff is LONG and fULL OF YEARNING and is taking WEEKS to get Just Right
Whereas Nero is just horny
(honestly I'm enjoying using him as a 3rd party POV to Dante's Vergil issues too much to leave him alone)
#the overlap between my characterization of nero and reboot!dante is like 80%#and that 20% differential is just reboot Dante's trust issues and his slavering need to be dommed within an inch of his life#however the difference between mainline dante and reboot Vergil is vast#where mainline dante has appx 400 things Wrong With Him and all of them are conflicts of interest re his brother#reboot Vergil is only and specifically built for reboot Dante#which is to say if I just wanted to be writing 'aggressive young man learns about himself sexually' I could just be writing reboot twincest#except for the fact that mainline dante makes every one of nero's overtures AS PAINFUL AND AWKWARD AS LOGISTICALLY POSSIBLE#and that's just. hehe.#where reboot vergil would be kind and encouraging and full of eager instructions and praise#mainline dante is like ''i refuse to tell you what i want or what you want or anything about what's happening. figure it out buddy''#Which is honestly? So funny.#Nero desperately trying to set up a nasty student/mentor power dynamic#while Dante's contribution to that power dynamic is ''i think you'll find you're responsible for your own edification''#Sometimes the best way to participate in a power dynamic is to refuse to participate#internal dmc tag

Wip Wednesday| Instructions on Mindful Focus | chapter 1 | X X X X
Ethan Hunt is trying very hard to look at ease and comfortable. Martha Colligo took in his deliberate sprawl across the couch. Shoulders purposefully loose, arm draped over the back of the couch, calf propped on opposite knee, an easy grin spread on his face. If she hadn't been looking, she might have bought the act, but Martha was looking. There was a tightness around his eyes that belays his unease, an unnatural stillness about him that could not be comfortable. It was actually a very comfortable couch, and Martha was almost offended on its behalf. It brown, over-stuffed, and could fold down like a futon in case she had to spend the night on-call in the office; in-short, it was a very nice couch, thank you very much. She had picked it out herself, along with most of the rest of the office. The therapists and counselors that tended to the Impossible Missions Force were given a budget and almost free-rein to design their office. Of course, there were official, thou shalt have a 'panic' button, and unofficial guidelines, don't have a chair facing directly away from the door. However, there were certain themes that their offices fell into. It could have been coincidence, but their seniors might just be that good at subtle manipulation. Martha's new office fell into the warm, dim, and cushy schema; one of the more common gestalts, but she was quite happy with how it had turned out.
#instructions on mindful focus#mission impossible#I really need a tag for stuff I write#wip wednesday#I've ~technically~ posted this before but I've edited the hell out of it since
