I was thinking about the 5 year anniversary video and

it is interesting to me how Patton kind of decided for Logan what his role in the "family" would be. all the other sides chose it themselves, but he didn't get to.

even when he actively objects it's played for laughs and never addressed. this happened too when Patton revealed his name for him, and I just think it's interesting to note that after all these years, Logan still never gets to decide anything when it comes to Thomas, or even himself, to an extent. it's just kind of decided for him and he is expected to just go along with it, similar to how it was when Thomas dyed his hair.

ik it's mainly a "haha wine mom" moment, but that doesn't take away from how angsty it gets when you think about it.

Patton was the first one to realise the general rule for what Remus biting things means. Like, when he bites a person, it's fine, it's chill, it's affection. When he bites a bit of furniture, it means he's likely stressed, and it's best to check up on him.

Remus is surprisingly keen when it comes to in-depth conversations about the mindsets of morally grey fictional characters, and it really caught Patton by surprise. Remus has his favourite horror characters in a list of who is most interesting for him to phyco analyse, and when Patton offhandedly said that Jigsaw was an awful person, he was almost immediately hit with a full 70 page document worth info dump about the different ways to view Jigsaw as a character.

Patton sometimes gets really flustered around Janus and gets tongue-tied. When this happens, Remus will walk up next to him, ask him if he needs some help expressing himself, and then pull out one of those buttons that says nut when pushed. Patton's responses range from even more embarrassment to an amused face palm.

Remus is very clingy, but not in a constant hug kinda way, but in a will crawl around you while you go about your life like the feral little creature he is.

U!Sides is unsympathetic sides, meaning the sides themselves are portrayed in ways that make them unsympathetic towards the readers, or they take unsympathetic actions. I'm not comfortable with that, so I don't want those head canons on this blog!

Whump is like angst, but to the extreme? Usually it deals with a character being in an unforgiving and brutal environment of some sort (manipulative relationship, extended periods of abuse, things like that. Think hurt/no comfort [Not exactly that, but most of the time that's how it ends up whenever I read it.]). Some whump I'm fine with as long as none of the sides are Unsympathetic, and others I'm not, but that line varies depending on my mental state at the time so it would be a bit exhausting to put a list down. (Just realized I've been spelling whump wrong this whole time, I'll fix that shortly).

Also I love these headcanons so much! Patton would definitely get tongue tied around Janus XD. And Remus is so sweet in his own way, I love these!!!

And Yes! I love sides biting each other out of love head canons!

Maybe platonic analogical next? But platonic roceit sounds so cool too!

I don't think it's really the beard, I think Thomas has just aged out of the ability to play the sides at their current state. Particularly Roman and Virgil.

anxious logan is such an interesting part of him to me. hes not as obviously affected as patton and roman but its still very much there. pushing all his thoughts out as quickly as he can without stumbling on his words in fear of getting spoken over. acknowledging how everyone else sees his rants as something boring and negative. hes less fearful and more bitter and i just think its super interesting

does anyone share my vision-

im not the best at drawing insects, so in case it's hard to tell: Virgil is a spider, Roman is a butterfly, Remus is a moth, Logan is an ant, Janus is a wasp and Patton is a bee.

(click the thingy if you'd like to indulge me in more details lmao)

Virgil, the spider: he already has spiders motifs. Also, spider webs can work as a metaphor for falling down an anxiety spiral (one step down a slippery slope and you're unable to get out).

Roman, the butterfly: the (mostly agreed upon) prettiest bug, for the prettiest boy in the party™. They're not overly romanticized in media for nothing lol. And of course, he's a "monarch butterfly".

Remus, the moth: "like moths to a flame" that represents self-destructive behaviour (unable to go against a desire that ultimately harms you, and could be your doom). Also, he shares the buttlerfly similarity with Roman. Plus he's a nuisance to your wardrobe

Janus, the wasp: they can sting without dying, having more of a defense purpose. Acting as Thomas' self-preservation, he acts like a last line of defense. And the yellow and black color scheme suits him nicely.

Logan, the ant: they're hard-working, resourceful and persevering. Those are pretty much words that easily describe Logan as well. And if anyone would be able to carry two times his own weight, it would be him (?)

Design fun fact: his extra set of arms are retractable! He uses them when he needs and extra pair of hands (lmao). Patton can do this too

Patton, the bee: hard-working too, but more centered in providing for others: he provides the others with affection and dinner (lol). He's sweet as honey. Their existence is helpful to the environment, and Patton's existence is helpful to my mental health /hj

headcanon that Remus often does unconventional/unethical things to the other sides as a sign of affection/care (even if they don't necessarily see it that way)

Roman doesn't want to do the dishes? Remus just smashed all of them to pieces, no more dishes to do :)

Patton says he's bored? Remus conjured a zombie apocalypse to survive and/or created a Very Real game of The Floor Is Lava so he can have some fun/play a few games.

Logan wants Thomas to be more active? Well he'll definitely be getting his steps in now that Remus has him convinced a monster is chasing him.

Virgil isn't sleeping well? He will be tonight since Remus dosed his food with enough sedatives to put a horse in a coma <3

Janus knows better than to give Remus any ideas, but that doesn't always stop Remus from "helping" in his own way (like that time he burned all of Janus' clothes because he "didn't have anything good to wear")

Sanders Sides but their Emotions affect their Forms and stuff and so at some point they're all just falling apart and it's very clear

Roman is so scared of that "Perfect Heroic Mask" he wears cracking and revealing just how insecure he is and how weak he feels after SvS Redux, that one day he wakes up and there's cracks in his face and arms that resemble peeling paint.

Virgil is terrified of being perceived as scary and unwanted and dangerous after he admits to being a Dark Side to Thomas, and one day he realizes he has fangs because he feels like he's a Monster.

Logan feels so unseen and ignored by the others, especially after his outburst in the "Orange Incident" (and it not even working) that one day he becomes invisible and inaudible to all of the other sides.

Janus feels like Thomas and the others will never actually listen to his point of view if it's him speaking without using another person's tactics, and then he suddenly can't control when he changes form or who he looks like, but all he knows is that he change back into himself.

Patton feels so bad about trying so hard to be in the driver's seat and feels like he only gets in the way of the others and Thomas, so he suddenly begins growing in size in response.

Remus, meanwhile, is getting tired of all of his contributions getting shot down no matter the context, and so he begins to sporadically shrink because he feels undervalued.

At some point, it takes all of them reflecting on how they feel and actually communicating with each other for them to return to normal, and altogether move forward with new perspectives and a new understanding of each other.
