time for what might actually be a controversial opinion in my corner of the mdzs fandom but, uh

i do actually think we should stay out of the canon jiang cheng tag 😬 like yes, it’s absurd to create a tag that includes the word “canon” in it for content that is largely just very bad faith fanon takes, but forget the pedantry of that for a second and just bear with me.

if i’m understanding the fandom history of this tag correctly, the canon jiang cheng crowd specifically started using it because fans of jc (rightfully!!) got on their case about constantly dropping their character hate and bad faith commentary in the general character tags

they have by and large been consistent about tagging their bizarre hateboner content with this tag. they are self-containing in an easily avoidable quarantine zone (which is more than the jgy antis ever bother to do)

aside from how people who like jiang cheng feel about a group of antis claiming that their tag is the “canon” one, realistically people who are looking for jc content are just going to type his name into the search bar and then explore the general tags first

i’m not a jc stan, but i do like him and categorically disagree with the cjc crowd’s assessment of his character. but like. i make a very big deal on this blog about not tagging character hate, or not tagging pointless character negativity that no one actually wants to see, or making use of known character-critical tags so that people can easily sort and filter what they’re looking for on this site without forcing other people who are just minding their business in the general tags to see stuff that is just shitty and mean-spirited. it would be extremely rich of me to say those things and then turn around and not say something, or even encourage, my followers to cross that line. even for people who have been cunty at me and my friends in the past.

like honestly just… let them have their little enclosure where they can say their wrong things to each other, and leave them alone. the adults can just keep talking in the general jiang cheng tags.

short of it: a post-canon TOH fic written as Hunter's journal entries addressed to Flapjack as he processes his grief and trauma.

long of it:

Hunter believes he can finally leave his past behind to create a normal life for himself. Wishing he had his first friend to talk to again, he starts writing letters to Flapjack. He starts his first term of school, spends quality time with his friends, and avoids thinking about everything that came before this moment. Who cares that he’s a grimwalker or that he was the evil emperor’s right-hand-man or that he’s always staring at other witches’ palismen? None of that matters. The past is in the past. But the past isn’t so easy to ignore when you were made from a 350 year old body. Not every mirror can be covered; not every secret can be buried. As Hunter’s past gets dug up and put on public display, he fights to keep it buried—even if that means he’ll have to bury himself.

[There are a lot of content warnings so be sure to read the tags before reading the fic. Finding Palismen covers a variety of heavy and triggering topics and it's best to be aware of that ahead of time.]

Mid-40s, she/her nonbinary bisexual, paid geek, married with cats. Recently diagnosed autistic and ADHD, which explains a lot about my life and relationships. Former sportsball player and band geek, forever a total nerd. I love video games; writing more than reading these days; music; and still like (and play) some sportsball. I don't necessarily follow back; I like to keep a short, streamlined dash so please don't take offense if I don't. At the same time, I have become mutuals with longtime followers after checking out their blog again at a later date. 🤷 Also, like many people on here, I prefer to be mutuals with people who are interested in my stuff, especially my Cyberpunk OCs and ships. Trust me, after years of being ignored due to fandom pressure, it quickly becomes apparent who is actively avoiding my Cyberpunk content.

I love tag games! I am also not great at replying to them! I have over 100 archived emails going back to Nov. '23 that I haven't answered, but still think I might one day. 😅 I am much more likely to reply to writing/WIP tags since I always have a handful of WIPs at any given moment. Also music tags because I love music.

I love asks but hate chain mail — they stress me out because I hate when people feel excluded and I don't know who's received them and who hasn't, so I end up paralyzed and ignore them. Send at your own risk.

She's also one of Val's first friends in the family.
