i always knew from first hand experience and interest in the welcome to the game games that adam was a giant asshole. i dont know if he actually has issues or not (it would unfortunately prove the righteous types of online people that these types of ""disturbed"" games cant be made by ""normal"" people) but im making it explicit now that if he has its not relevant in the slightest to the fact that he is like, just a douche. leagues different from yandev my favorite dev case study sure, but at the same time not that far off (im always saying well at least adam has finished games, then i remember the perpetual limbo of his magnum opus rides with strangers, again not too dissimilar to yansim)

you know, typical douchery like trump hat on twitter, hahaha they hate me cause im trolling im real i dont protect the snowflakes and i dont make easy games if you want easy mode youre getting a pile of shit as an ending (not a direct quote!! its been years!!! i dont remember what he said!! only the vibe of it remained)

i also knew he had a "troll update" to wttg2, but afaik i honest to god thought it was twitch integration and nothing more. at the time i didnt know said integration had mandatory 'ask first' rule, and the troll update was enabled by default.

i recently got a video suggested to me about a guy analyzing if markipliers runs of the game were influenced by adam to be doomed to failure, then talk about what adams update was, then say 'fools! this was the gateway example to talk about the ethics of including such things in games!' which ill admit wasnt really what i clicked the video for but interesting topic nonetheless given what the troll update actually was... a backdoor to edit the game as he saw fit if he felt like it.

THEN i learned he bricked the game of a streamer that had given him copious exposure before because someone asked the streamer what he thought of adam and, like literally everyone else on the planet, the answer was "an asshole".

man i dunno. im surprised at mylsef for being surprised hed put a backdoor in the games, given its very inline with both the games subjects and who he is as a person. i was not suprised he used it as petty revenge elon musk style. and im still thinking about the video so thats something. he said he took it out eventually but that was definitely the straw on the camels back for me in terms of ever getting the games to play myself. a true shame, its the type of dumb frustrating fun i tend to enjoy.

as a last somewhat unrelated note adam placing himself as the evil mastermind antagonist in these games that cant be defeated no matter what is also a significant tell of what his personality is like. why not be like sr pelo he got stabbed mid public toilet shit by the villain of the year in last years spooky monthfhhggffdspo sorry.

oh heres the video if theres interest in the contents. i didnt comment on the ethics part of it because i dont have enough experience with it to have a hard stance, but doing such things just to destroy an individual copy of a game over a not very nice comment is a very obvious 'yea dont do that' example.

hi i have too much time on my hands, i created a more detailed and evidence-supported timeline for the welcome to the game/reflect studios franchise!

obvs disclaimer: i played games on the easiest modes i could, bc i'm bad with cue-based things so i relied pretty heavily on the fan-wiki and the information there. i cross-verified where i could.

WELCOME TO THE GAME 1 - Unknown, 2016

Based on establishment dates of the Doctor Murder website (est. 2012, noted as running up to/until 2016).

Hot Burners uses a quote from an alleged customer from 2015; would assume to use a somewhat older quote to establish one's business as reputable (regardless of review being legitimate/real or otherwise).

Passports Are Us uses an image of the current Latvian passport, which the design for was established on or around Jan. 28, 2015; the game therefore has to take place after this date.

WAITING ROOM - Late 2017; Assumption

Considering the risk that comes with hosting Red Room streams, as well as the surrounding hype, it is unlikely that the streams are a common occurrence.

The reason I assume it is late 2017 is because of the existence and references made in Welcome to the Game 2.

Many sites that were present in the first game are either redone entirely or have become dead links. A bit of a stretch because expertise is varied, but it would take a while to do that while maintaining consistent clientele.

The player can find Clint's resident dossier on the lobby computer. He's 29, lives in 803, and is described as a "Very quiet individual, sticks to himself, pays rent on time. No issues." Not really relevant, but this would mean Clint was born between 1988 and 1989. He was a 90s kid, and that's so cute to me.

SCRUTINIZED - Middle of June 2020

Computer states that the date is June 14th on the starting night, and report dates are formated as 06/xx.

Social media posts are dated with 2020 (e.g., Jeniffer Connally, aka BloodAngel123). And yes, her name is spelled like that in the game.

DEAD SIGNAL - 2022

Confirmed by environmental details, such as a newspaper(?) clipping within Ronald's apartment. I don't own this title in the series, but have been watching a close friend play it and we both noticed this.

Clint contacts the player and says he has had run-ins with Adam in the past (re: WTTG 2). For him to phrase it this way shows a decent time has passed between the games, as not only is that just how US Americans tend to phrase it, but he's also telling this to a stranger (albeit, he owes The Shade a favor, and thus it's equally likely Shade told him to give Ronald any information he had to keep his employee alive)

hmmm... after i finish this gift fic, i really should finish some of my wips 😭 only problem is getting the inspo for them-

i'm at a standstill in terms of games bc i started red dead and got really far, but am kinda burned on it. i have both ghost recons installed and do wanna play thru some of the dlc (at least for wildlands, i've done all the breakpoint dlc)... but i'm also still kinda burnt on the shooter genre bc i binge played some cods.

i also installed the wttg/reflect studios franchise on my pc, and like. i'm so bad at games like that BUT i like the universe so maybe... maybe i'll write smth for that fandom since it's... not really around (after the hype for tanner died the fandom went with it which sucks but it is what it is)

first henrik coming back yesterday, now this? this is... suspicious. to say the very fucking least. but it got me thinking.

we have henrik back. that’s one thing, and one ego. 

then we have both of today’s videos. one of which involves jack getting trapped in a tv/computer screen, which is most likely anti’s doing (the noises in the background and the door opening gave pretty much everyone say goodbye vibes). that’s two egos.

we also got a video on welcome to the game 2 today. what if we get another episode of WTTG 2 in the next few days, with jackieboy man coming back to play the sequel just like he played the first game? that’d be three egos.

what if we get that second bro average video sometime in the next week or two? that’d be four.

what if we got another marvin’s magic video? that’d be five.

what i’m trying to say is... jack’s already building up to something as it is. but if he really is planning on doing something with all of the egos... this could be how he does it.
