Wayne Vs Fenton 3
start of the madness
pls note I'm putting these numbers in as "what I have written." They're not gonna necessarily be in order. I hope to make a full fic to put on AO3. In the interim, here's stuff I wrote in general as it strikes me in the moment. This bit is from Tim's perspective after Damian and Danny Are Friends become a known quantity in the Wayne household. ~*~
Damian making friends didn’t make sense. Everyone else felt complacent in simply accepting it. Tim wasn’t. Considering his upbringing, autonomous socializing wasn’t part of Damian’s personality. Nor was how calm and patient the former assassin child became with all of his siblings, Tim included. Damian himself insisted he and this “Danny” were friends. Hell, Damian even called the kid by a nickname. Not his last name, not “Daniel.” His actual, preferred nickname. Tim was suspicious and instantly began investigating. Daniel “Danny” Fenton, age 15, moved to Gotham two months ago from Amity Park, Illinois with his godfather and temporary guardian, Vlad Masters, former mayor of Amity Park, head of Vladco Industries, and heir to Wisconsin’s Self Proclaimed Dairy King’s fortune. Child of Jack and Madeline Fenton, doctors of something called ectobiology, former college classmates of Vlad Masters, and founders of FentonWorks, a cottage research facility that developed antighost (Ghosts? Really?) weaponry and equipment. Brother of Jasmine Fenton, currently a student of Yale in their psychology undergraduate program, and already a shoe-in for the Dean’s list. Honestly, of all the people related to him, Danny ended up being the least interesting. Middling grades that dropped in high school along with attendance. That was probably what led to his coming to Gotham. A set of brilliant - if evidentially weird - parents and a rich and involved godfather doing what they could to help their faltering son to succeed by sending him to one of the top schools on the east coast. There was evidence that Amity Park itself had some apparently minor meta vigilante protecting it, but searches for “Phantom” turned up nothing in the Justice League’s database, suggesting whomever this was might be an actual ghost like Deadman and, thus, restricted to access by those with JLD clearance. Tim put aside that issue for later. He could just ask B for privileges later. Besides, the only information he found on this vigilante was on a few amateur fansites and local papers. No major news sites or government listings. It couldn’t be anything major. His focus remained on Daniel Fenton. Except, even when looking into the kid’s socials, there wasn’t anything interesting. He had a couple friends back in Amity, the most interesting of the two was Samantha Mason of the Mason family, though Tim already knew of her from various socialite dinners she looked ready to burn to the ground, pink and lacey dress or not. Her social media was full of activism, conservation movements, and calls for both veganism and something called ultra recycle vegetarianism. Tucker came from an average family of upper middle class parents, nothing odd there, though his social media showed his love of technology and ancient Egypt. Nothing strange there. Danny’s social media, besides his friends, included links to Nasa, occasional rambles about high school life, and, for some reason, a dog photoshopped to look green. From the replies of his few followers, it was an inside joke since they all cooed over the dog and didn’t comment on the green. Again, nothing strange. Even the one time he managed to hack into Damian’s phone to see his messages yielded nothing. He and Danny would meet for what Danny called “playdates.” For some reason, Damian played along with a name Tim knew he’d scoff as childish and beneath him. Even that would be innocuous. One or the other would suggest meeting at various parks, arcades, even the observatory, negotiating dates and times, and that was it.
Danny was a normal kid. Damian was a born and bred assassin. Why in the actual fuck were these two friends? Nothing made sense. Everyone else was happy to ignore it because of the peace the irrationality before them instilled. Tim wouldn’t become complacent. Whatever Danny was hiding, he’d find it.

100 Moby-Dick covers ranked by your's truly. Thank you so much to all those of you who sent in contributions and helped make this completely out of proportion project a thing. Jars of angelic spermaceti for everyone! 🤍
As for the ranking, it is purely the result of my own personal taste in aesthetics and heavily influenced by my perception of the story. Add to that a generous amount of sentimentality, as shall be apparent.
What I have been mainly looking at in judging the designs is as follows...
- General appearance; is it attractive? 💕
- Does it help sufficiantly communicate the nature of the story (theme, genre, mood, plot)? ⚰️
- Is it canon? (Meaningful creative licence perfectly allowed!) ✅️
As for the tiers themselves, we have...
Topmost Greatness: this is something out of the ordinary, possibly genius and also I neeeeed it for my collection!
A: Good, good stuff, but might lack that very extra special something
B: Gets the job done, agreeable, totally okay.
C: It's not exactly bad and I'll let that oopsie over there slide, but I probably wouldn't pay much for this one.
You Had One Job: Yeah, you did.
Should Never Have Surfaced: Makes the Pequod tragedy look like a merry holiday.

TOPMOST GREATNESS

1. The most beautiful Moby-Dick cover I've ever seen. I was almost tempted to create a tier higher than Topmost Greatness only so that I could place it there.
2. Brilliant composition and color choice, despite its simplicity it hits me straight in the soul.
3. I remember drooling over this in the book store back in the day and considered reading it only because it was so gorgeous. Manages to be both crowded and clean at the same time. Story instantly recognizable.
4. The classiest of all time? Forever a winner!
5. I show the image of this one to people to make them understand the creative brilliancy that thrives within the Moby-Dick community.
6. Captures the mood in a fittingly crooked, awkward way that makes my heart beat faster. (Also reminds me of my copy of One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest for some reason.)
7. Another sort of awkward one, but I love the style, I love the surreal combination of drama and stiffness, pretty fitting the story itself. Makes 'Hab look a bit like the Grim Reaper.
8. The erratic painting technique gives me the perfect kind of crazy vibes.
9. Moby-Dick, a bibliophile's dream, topmost mood nailing, superior dark academia accessory... what more could anyone wish for in a book?
10. So well thought out and the claustrophobic feel helps to create an unsettling mood despite the otherwise quite cheery colors. Sorry, Madagascar.
11. Look, my two main areas of Moby-Dick interest is Ahab and rhe psychology, so... y'know.
12. Mood certainly set.
13. Guess I have a thing for harpoon/eye symbolism. Again that claustrophobic feel by leaving only a sliver of crowded surface.
14. First physical Moby-Dick copy I ever bought. All the books in this Penguin series are gorgeous, but to me this is one of the design winners regardless of the contents.
15. Unsettled in all this tropical serenity yet?
16. The boldness in color choice and to focus on the fire theme is as unusual as it is exciting, and the very modern touch makes it even more interesting!

17. Not normally a style I'm drawn to, but somehow this manages to capture my interest. A successful nod to the painting at the Spouter Inn, lovely line work. My sibling got me this one as a locket for my last b-day.
18. My beloved companion, by now containing almost as much tape as paper. The 19th century poster design is irresistable to me. A white tail would've been even cooler though.
19. It's not that unique looking, yet the worn feel and harpooned Moby Dick simply gets to me somehow.
20. All the crucial elements skillfully and effectivly forged (no pun intended) together.
21. The way the psychology has been captured and the missing leg detail is yum!
22. Kind of busy but so unique and interesting! Yes plz.
23. Another classic! How could Kent's iconic whale ever fail?
24. Aiming for the adventure theme, it appears, and successfully so. Unusual color choice which I happen to be all about. Total vintage feel!
25. Again, not that much is happening, but the ropes, the character design, the inking... I love you, cover, and I need you in my life!
26. An often used scene, but the style gets to me so, so bad.
27. I'm not that much about the washed out color, but the rest is love.
28. Very basic, but also very nice and display friendly and I enjoy the vibe so much.
29. Almost made it to Topmost, but the positioning of the illustration gives off a cheap feel to me. Why couldn't you have used that gorgeous theme depiction to better advantage? Can one order a remake? Or a cropped poster?
30. Love the composition so much but the technique simply doesn't do it quite enough for me to move up one full notch. Still want it so bad for the collection though.
31. Runny ink on pure white is something I associate with Moby-Dick, don't know why. The blotchiness is a really great touch.
32. The design doesn't say much concerning the content, but nevertheless it is so pretty and am I correct when I say there's harpoon vibes?
33. Had that been a white whale, it would've ended up under Topmost!
34. My first reaction to this was that it's a really interesting piece of art, but I wasn't so sure I liked it as much in book cover form. The more I look at it, the more intrigued and enamoured I get. I want more of this.
35. Ahab and Moby Dick from Ahab's POV? Love the distorted psychedelic atmosphere, but another one with missed full illustration use potential.

36. Brings back the menory of cigarettes and fear. Granny the Gregory Peck fan owned one of these and it freaked me out where she kept it on display ever after I'd been forced to watch the movie at age 6. Now I want one just for the hell of it.
37. Okay, so hear me out. I know it's a children's book, but the illustrator obviously knew the story. Love the tangling rope and that Ahab's prosthetic leg seems made out of whale bone rather than wood for once.
38. Nice modern touch, but that's straight up the New Bedford whaler statue, which kinda ruins it for me.
39. Lovely, lovely design, but I simply don't associate it with a story about suicidal tendencies, gore, and mass death.
40. A somewhat unusual character choice to pose on a cover, but hey, I'll take it! :D
41. Doesn't pop, but I do like me some traditional Japanese art vibes!
42. Elegant, but the huge M obscures the title text and the harpoon looks as if crossed with a sewing needle.
43. Basic, but the feel is there and I like the color combination for this story.
44. Love the art and it's impossible not to identify which story this is, but I have several Ahab design choice questions which won't leave me.
45. This whole thing is odd and busy, but I also really like it!
46. Speaking of Japanese traditional art. The lines and the moodiness is much to my liking.
47. Simple, spot on, nothing that extra.
48. If only he hadn't looked so damn happy about it as if Ahab was about to throw that harpoon like a stick for him to fetch. Untold plot line??
49. There is this whole sub genre of Moby Dick balancing the Pequod, a concept that certainly works, but by now it has to have that little extra something to seem truly special.
50. We have a less erroneous whale, folks! It may be a stock image, but Ishmael gave this one thumbs up, and so how could I possibly do differently? Nicely done!
51. First, I get strong The Old Man and the Sea impressions. Second, what kind of whale do you intend to kill with that thing, my dude? Points for canonical end game beard though.
52. I assume this is meant as a traditional Polynesian art style nod in honor of our dear Queequeg. The sports wear lining texture in the title letters confuses me though.
53. There certainly are plenty of canon here, but also, this is some odd mayhem and where are you aiming, Captain? Yay, ivory leg again!
54. Basic, works perfectly fine.
55. This is a really odd scene choice to pick for a cover, but I love this edition and its illustrations to bits. In fact, I'm planning on posting a review of it soon.

56. I haven't peeked into Melville's mind, but I'm pretty sure the Pequod looked quite different. The story is unmistakable though.
57. Nothing wrong with it, I guess, but way too messy for me to be comfortable with.
58. Not much to say here, but a perfectly nice-looking cover for any book.
59. Gets the job done, but not that inspiring.
60. Despite seemingly little effort behind it, this design based on a 19th century (erroneous) whale drawing could have gone straight up to A. You see, in the original image the (erroneous) whale has his penis (erroneous?) in full view, but on this cover it has been erased. How could I not have given a Moby-Dick book cover depicting dozens of (erroneous) whale dicks A? Alas.
61. Good, professional-looking cover, but judging by the illustration only, I would have guessed this was a children's book about the adventures of a jolly porpoise named Toni.
62. No spoilers to see here or anything. Is that a gold prosthetics??
63. This looks so much like a academic book on psychology. Not too far off, I suppose, but I wouldn't be able to figure out which famous story it is.
64. The Temple toggle harpoon was invented in 1848. Do with this information what you will.
65. Hey! That other cover from before! Have to say that the color alterations and helm sihouette wasn't an improvement.
66. A bit extreme for me.
67. I call this excessive simplicity. If you need a copy of Moby-Dick, you will recognize it at once, but it might not attract new readers merely in itself.
68. Just because it's a children's book doesn't mean the vibe has to be off, but I think it is in this case. Recently posted an example of this illustrator's adorable Ishmael here.
69. Where's the title? Confusing for a cover, but I would love this for a poster of mug! Also, the biggest words are Ahab, Queequeg, and Pequod, which I find mildly insulting towards a certain someone. What was he called again?
70. Cool whale picture which I really like, but the accuracy for Moby-Dick isn't really there.

72. I understand the idea and the illustration is awesome, but for me, the vibe is strangely all off and I get almost a comedic feel. Again, that's just me.
73. I often feel like an Ahab apologist and can often be somewhat harsh on the whale, but holy shit! A sort of red herring situation meant to make the reader think Ahab will be the winner?
74. It looks full of action and Scrooge's Ahab cosplay look is really neat, but I have... concerns.
75. I don't remember the scene playing out like this and Ahab is clearly not having it.

I lost all control over myself and made a pitch for an alternate version of Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II
Just for a quick recap: Juno is the pilot and love interest of the first game's protagonist. A dude called starkiller who is Vader's secret apprentice. At the halfway point of the game, Vader pretends to kill Starkiller, and has him healed shortly afterwards. To keep Starkiller's survival a secret, Vader has the entire space station that Starkiller was healed on destroyed. Juno was imprisoned and put on the space station to die for realsies to help keep the secret. Starkiller saves Juno. However Starkiller STILL is loyal to Vader. Juno doesn't like it, but despite that, Juno still helps Starkiller carry out Vader's plans of building a rebellion.
Juno is far more doubtful of Vader than Starkiller, and is constantly like "idk this is sus", but goes along with it anyway because she loves him. Then Vader betrays starkiller. again. Once more, Vader doesn't really acknowledge Juno, and only focuses on Starkiller. However his actions definitely intended for Juno to get murdered. Then Starkiller goes to rescue the rebels that Vader just captured. Starkiller does this, and Juno parks up just outside to act as getaway. Then Starkiller (who just beat both Vader and the Emperor's asses) is convinced by Rahm Kota to spare the emperor. Turns out the Emperor wasn't beaten just yet, and Starkiller has to sacrifice himself to allow the others to get away. Oops. Juno like, just outside the room when her boyfriend blows himself up. Presumably Juno will learn about the details of Galen's death from Kota and the others.
Now, she has reasons to think the rebels are a bunch of losers 'cause she was sitting back watching her BF kick their asses/save them while they did shit for the entire game, and because of Kota's legendary bag fumbling. She also has reasons to be really fucking angry at Vader and the empire. To me this is a perfect set up for Juno to start using the dark side of the force, and go on a murder spree as the protagonist of the game.
How does she get force powers when she has shown no force sensitivity in the whole of the first game? I've got a few ideas. first is that she was always closer to the dark side of the force and just needed to get really really angry to be able to access her powers for the first time. second is that being near that giant force explosion affected her in some mysterious force-y way. Third idea is that she is getting force powers from the ghost of Starkiller. fourth idea is that she had some kinda force bond with Starkiller, like the force dyad from the sequels. When Starkiller died, all his midichlorians went over to Juno.
For the actual plot, I think it'd start a couple years after the plot of the first game and consist of Juno doing progressively more and more evil shit to get revenge. She spent a couple years receiving training under the reluctant tutelage of Starkiller's ghost just before the game started. She starts out mostly blowing up storm troopers, but later starts going after rebels and so forth. Starkiller's ghost is constantly "no plz stop being evil" to her repeatedly over the course of the game. Juno ignores him constantly. Juno also recruits a new character to be her love interest for the game. New character is down bad for Juno, but Juno doesn't wanna go for it because she is still hung up on starkiller. Not sure if she does go for it or not. Either way she fucks it up somehow.
Later as Juno is just about to fight the emperor on the death star. Juno does something so heinous that Starkiller's ghost is like "nuh uh, you've gone too far. I'm going to stop you by force now". Juno kills starkiller's ghost, while New Character watches on in horror. As Juno is standing over the charred spot on the ground where the ghost of Starkiller once was, she feels a change in the force. The emperor is dead. Juno rushes in and sees the room empty. She follows a trail and comes across the body of Vader. He died too. Juno's grand revenge has been stolen from her. She starts cackling maniacally as she completely loses it, setting up a sequel where Juno is the antagonist. Roll credits.
In this one the "Good" ending is the non-canon one. Juno exiles herself to the planet Ahch-To, AKA the planet Luke exiled himself to in episode 7. When Luke shows up after Kylo destroyed his new Jedi Order, he sees Juno (who probably tried to kill Luke/his friends at least once during the main plot) and they fight. Juno wins and murders Luke. Luke's Ghost spends the next however long annoying the shit out of Juno, who puts up with it begrudgingly.
Juno decides to stay in exile. Then Rey shows up. Juno beats up Rey, then questions her. She learns that Vader's grandson is going around dressed up as Vader. Juno decides this is close enough to actually killing Vader and decides to go kill that guy. As she is about to kill Kylo, Juno is jumped by the ghost of Anakin. During this battle Juno finally gets her revenge and Anakin (feeling guilty) lets Juno monologue about all the ways he wronged her in life. She kills the ghost. Juno's revenge is complete at long last, so she spares Kylo Ren. She decides to be a goodie and actually help the rebels now. Unfortunately, Juno did super murder Luke quite recently, and a lot of rebels before her self-imposed exile. This makes working with the remaining rebels a little awkward. Luke's ghost approved of Juno sparing Kylo Ren however, and vouches for her.

after stalking your ex on instagram for a few weeks, you had invited johnny on an unofficial date on a whim. you knew it was a bad idea because you and johnny dated for about 3 years but never talked after breaking it off.
he and your roommate were very familiar with each other. you talked her ear off about the awful way he treated you while you were sneaking around with him, too embarrassed to admit that you still have feelings for him. thank god she isn't in town since she wouldn't be in favor of you sleeping with him, obviously having her reasons.
so instead of catching up, you invited him over to your apartment for a few more drinks, but you knew what you were doing. you didn't wear your favorite satin slip-on with no underwear for nothing.
you unlocked your door, johnny letting you go first, though it didn't matter much since a few seconds later you were pushed against your door.
you ultimately gave into him, having your whole body restrained by his. his brown eyes were even darker now, peering into yours and smirking. asshole. you grab his jaw and attack his lips, not being able to resist the smell of his cologne.
the only thing you can vividly remember is hands. hands everywhere. his hands grabbing your hips and hitting them against the wall, his hands grasping your waist, holding you in place, and your hands on the back of his neck, in his hair, slightly tugging on it and hearing him let out a low, muffled groan into your mouth. you slightly bit his lower lip in response. his responsiveness turned you on even more, letting you know this night would not go to waste.
"mm, wait, is your roommate gonna hear?" he leaned his head back, and tucked a strand of your hair behind your ear. you both looked a mess. knotted hair and pink lips, but too hot and bothered to care.
"let's hope not," you smirked, knowing your roommate was out with her girlfriend for the week. it made it just so much more fun to challenge him and see him under pressure.
you took his hand and squeezed it, telling him to follow you. you dragged him to the tiny couch in the living room of your apartment. you lightly pushed him onto the cushions, taking the lead and climbing onto him, straddling his hips.
"you're so beautiful" he lightly dragged his knuckles against your cheek, an index and middle finger over the bottom of your lip. you instinctively opened your mouth, his fingers entering your mouth as you put your lips and your tongue around them as he slowly pulled the fingers out.
"fuck," he breathed, looking into your eyes and roughly grabbing your jaw, pushing his tongue down your throat. you barely pushed your hips forward, feeling the growing tent in his dickies. his hips shudder under you and you hover over him to pull your dress up, allowing closer contact.
he quickly pulled his shirt off and pulled you back into his lap before removing the laces of your dress off your shoulders, the cold air of your apartment suddenly hitting your breasts and making you gasp. you continued the kiss, tracing your fingers over his abs, slowly going down until you reach his belt and start unbuckling it.
without breaking the kiss, he helped you discard of his pants, quickly tossing them across the room, allowing you to eagerly grind on his buldge through his boxers, the sound of his whining motivating you to go faster.
"please," he whispered in your ear, digging his fingernails into your thighs. you knew he couldn't handle not being inside of you, seeing you writhe on top of him, using him for your own pleasure, but you didn't want to give it to him just yet, you wanted to push him to the very edge.
you got up, knees on either side of his thighs, palming his erection through his boxers and planting light kisses and nibbles all over his neck and chest. he put his hand over yours, practically begging to feel you closer.
you drag your fingers under the waistband and take them off so painfully slow he felt as if he couldn't wait anymore, and grabbed himself, pumping a few times before rubbing his tip through your folds.

the sound of panting and skin slapping filled the room, a smell of sweat and cologne making you both feel feral. his hand left your hair and both of his hands grabbed your waist, pushing your body into him, grunting with every thrust.
"you're doing so good, baby." he threw his head back in ecstasy, as his rhythmic thrusts became sloppy, you decided to take over, got on your knees, threw your arms over his neck, and lifted your hips up lowered them, grinding into his hips as fast as you could as he rested his face into the crook of your neck and repeated your name.
"I'm gonna cum," he groaned. you rode him as fast as you could, whispering words of praise into his ear and tugging his brown locks harder.

You and Phil had known each other for a while, long before he came to live in L’manburg. And for as long as you’d known him, he never allowed anyone to touch his wings. It was just so personal for him- He wouldn’t even accept help preening, despite how many times you had asked in the past. When you two start dating, it got a little better- He’d allow the occasional brush of his feathers when they got messy, or when he needed help preening a hard-to-reach spot. But even then, he was very avoidant when it came to letting you touch his wings.
Phil sat on the floor of your shared cabin, shirt and robe discarded somewhere in the room, his wings ruffled up and messy from flying through the nearby forest- Twigs were sticking out of spots and his feathers were all misplaced.  He was struggling to brush through all the mess, but he was so clearly tired from everything he had done today- From hunting with Techno to helping you smith some gold armor for a nether trip tomorrow and going for a walk with Ghostbur, the blonde was reaching a point of exhaustion.
You had been finishing up a batch of fire resistance potions when you decided enough was enough- You were going to help him preen up his wings whether he liked it or not. With new confidence, you placed your three fresh fire res potions in a chest and walked over to your lover, plopping on the floor behind him with your legs crossed.
“(Y/N), what are you-” Phil’s shoulders physically tensed when he felt your hand brush through a part of his outer feathers, gently pulling out several small twigs. He wanted to melt under your touch, a wave of comfortable pleasure washing over him. He sucked in a deep breath and shook himself a bit, his face starting to feel a bit warm. “(Y/N), mate, what’re you doing?”
You hum and gently pet your hand through the thick plumage on the outer part of his wing, straightening out his feathers. His wing twitches a bit at your touch, and Phil makes a quiet whine under his breath. You just assume it was because you accidentally tugged on a feather.
“I’m helping you with your wings, darling.” You other hand travels to the part of his wing closest to the root, straightening the fuzzy down feathers and gently tugging at the loose ones you came across. Phil squirms a bit, his hand coming up to cover his mouth. His face was flushed a deep red and his pants were starting to feel uncomfortably tight.
He broke when you massaged down the skin between the roots of his wings, pushing gently into the tense muscles. It was a simple and loving gesture, but good god did it feel good. A shudder shot through the elytrian, his voice coming out in a high-pitched moan. His dick twitched as he gently rode through the orgasm, his hands now pushing against the somewhat painful hard-on.
You stared wide-eyed at your boyfriend, your cheeks burning from embarrassment. You held your hands tight against your chest, a bit afraid to touch Phil again. When it seemed he had come down from his high, you cleared your throat to get his attention.

When you sit back on Phil's lap, he's quick to lift you by your thighs and push you onto your back.You squeak at his sudden enthusiasm, cut off by the feeling of something pushing at your entrance. Phil holds you tightly, looking at you expectantly. You nod, unable to help the sweet moan that slips out when he pushes all the way into you.
You can feel yourself tighten around the elytrian when he bottoms out, your arms wrapping around his back. Phil starts at a slow pace, giving you time to adjust to his size. The entire time he's moaning praise into your ear, getting louder as his pace picks up.
You yelp when he rubs against that sweet spot inside you, your fingers tangling roughly into his wings. This causes Phil to make another high-pitched noise, his words slurring together and his movements becoming sloppy as he chases his orgasm.
"R-right there, (Y/N), fuck, keep touching right there." He whines, pushing roughly into you again. You smile and pet your hands through his wings, brushing through the feathers and tugging softly. You can feel the knot in your stomach tightening as he pounds into you, your own string of praises flowing from your mouth.

Some have argued that Alicent was right or had a point by trying to depose Rhaenyra (before episode 8 happened) in that:
if we want to only look over the situation through the succession customs of the society, it was her right: she was protecting her own and her daughter’s dignity in not accepting Rhaenyra’s proposal to marry Helaena to Jacaerys in episode 6
that Rhaenyra still would have had to marry Jaecaerys to Baela to keep the Velayrons on her side -->and thus Rhaenyra would lose their support and the HelaenaxJace marriage would incite the Velayrons’ wrath or make them abandon Rhaenyra--making her proposal something that can either never truly happen or Rhaenyra a liar
from a purely practical perspective, marrying Helaena to Jacaerys would still invite danger to Alicent’s kids/grandkids in the event the lords all rebelled against Rhaenyra and/or killed Helaena/grandkids like how Robert killed Elia Martell and her kids w/Rhaegar
These claims and her actions directly contradict each other. 
After Viserys ignores her protests, if Alicent’s aim is to protect both her kids’ lives and their dignity, her only other option to do so (since some claim that nothing else would have minimized the risk) is to assassinate Rhaenyra. If she were to expose Rhaenyra and the boys, this would get her/them killed, banished, or utterly ruin their lives to the point that death is attractive. Ironically, she refuses to let the council do this very thing in episode 9, when the threat of Viserys is no longer there. Huh?! Why?! (See below)
After years of trying to expose Rhaenyra and her kids’ illegitimacy, this same character is then open to allowing Rhaenyra to become the next ruler/queen...just because Rhaenyra said that she saw how hard Alicent worked for Viserys’ comfort and happiness and apologized. 
But what is Rhaenyra apologizing for when Alicent has been the one to actively pursue another person?!
Then there is the fact that the show has failed to show us what exactly the peasants and the lords think about Rhaenyra and the Greens--who, where, how many think one way, another way, or another way. the lords especially, the ones who Otto had warned about and who would gather their vassals to fight....so Alicent’s fear and Otto’s warning ring in a void. There’s no feedback to prove or disprove his words. 
And we see later, in Fire and Blood, that Rhaenyra gets many lords to fight for her, the majority who made oaths to her on Viserys’ order--none were threatened by Daemon and most suggested Rhaenyra use her dragons. 
So by the show’s own writing and plot shift from Alicent’s earlier refusal to marry these two, we were expecting her after episode 8 to then marry them since she now accepts Rhaenyra’s claim and wants to be friends again at some point. (This is supported by the showrunner, Ryan Condal, himself)
If she forgives Rhaenyra, then she in the same breath is allowing the danger (Rhaenyra and the lords’ “assured” rebellion) to threaten her kids, by some fans’ and her own logic. Rhaenyra is not going to murder her own kids, give up the throne, nor kill herself after all. So why is Alicent suddenly so open to her at that point?
If we take the show at face value, it would mean that Alicent wasn’t actually concerned about Helaena’s “dignity”, but her own desire to have more control and authority. 
So if we were to argue that this is the same woman of all these years is just trying to protect her kids, none of it is true.
It also shows that despite her words about how the council, Viserys, and herself should all consider how their decisions will affect the “realm” and “subjects” (episodes 3, 6, and 9) her main motivation is not those things, but how she herself will be compensated with obedience and/or praise for following the gendered feudal code of conduct and rules.
But here are other reasons why I don’t agree with the claims for Alicent.
A) *EDIT 11/13/24* DISREGARD THIS POINT PLZ!!*END OF EDIT* ---Strategically speaking, Rhaenyra actually doesn’t have to marry Jacaerys to Baela, despite when the writers make her in episode 8. 
The Velayrons would still back her because she’s married to Daemon, who is the father of the Baela and Rhaena. At the ver y least Rhaenys would, and Corlys would follow unless the show decides to break this characterization for “men must rule in their best interests”🙄, ignoring how Rhaenys was the one to warn Corlys all this time & him admitting it in episode 10. Whether or not Daemon is just using Rhaneyra, the fact is that he will definitely support her to annihilate her enemies.
We see how much Rhaenys values and priorities her grandkids over everything else after the deaths of her own kids (Laenor and Laena). Whether in the book or show, Rhaneys would not let her own grandkids be exposed to Alicent’s/the Greens’ doings. If we were to consider Book!Rhaenys alone, even by herself, she will do what she feels like she must to protect them, because she has that strong of a backbone even if Corlys were to protest. Which in turn, draws Book!Corlys out and again, we end up with the Velayrons supporting Rhaenyra.
By the same patriarchal customs and those strategic considerations that make it difficult or risky for Alicent to think her kids safe, it would be Daemon who gets to decide what to do with his daughters’ futures--not the Velayrons. Even if Baela is taken as ward under Rhaenys in the show (which doesn’t happen in the book, ever). Baela’s last name is “Targaryen”, not Velaryon and, IF we go by how some fans see it, she is his favored daughter. Baela’s team black all the way, she canonically likes and favors Jaecerys. The Velaryons more than likely follow.
By the point of episode 6 (when Rhaenyra had brought up the proposal to Alicent/the council) and before the end of episode 7, Laenor was still officially alive and was in no danger. The Velayrons were assured to support Rhaenyra by then without her having to even mention and propose a marriage between Jace and Baela at any point because Laenor was already arranged to become the King Consort after Rhaenyra ascends. Just as Corlys wanted. If we argue that Baela and Jace had to be married to assure Velayron loyalty, we’re forgetting all of this.
Corlys, as we saw in episode 10, is one of the lords who swore an oath to Rhaenyra to protect her rights back when she was a child in the very first episode. Oath breaking is seriously taboo in Westeros. And Corlys already showed himself to care about his legacy and “names” above most else. Enough to ignore Show!Rhaenys for so long, marry his kids to Targayrens, and allow an illegitimate kid become the next head of his house. It’s ridiculous to suppose that the Velayrons wouldn’t back Rhaenyra just on this alone, regardless if she marries her kids to them. It would certainly make their allyship stronger, but Corlys wouldn’t just straight up abandon Rhaenyra. And this even happens before Laenor and Rhaenyra ever marry. (Which adds another layer of absurdity to Corlys wanting to back out in episode 10 after he wakes up.)
If the Velayrons were to try to abandon Rhaenyra and/or remain neutral despite their relation to Baela and Rhaena (which again, is impossible looking at their book and show characters), the Greens would still not consider them a potential ally because of their relation to these grandkids and there is literally nothing connecting them to the Velayrons even if those grandkids didn’t exist. They do not appear to have fostered any connection in the years after Alicent becomes Queen and gives birth up to episode 9. Which means the Greens would target or suspect the Velayrons, thus the Velayrons are actually forced to back Rhaneyra in that scenario anyway. 
Let’s run with the idea that Corlys only wants either a Velayron or Baela/Rhaena to be Queen/King Consort and only wants his blood to be in the highest position of status and privilege after the ruler themselves (Laenor would have been King Consort or Prince Consort; Baela would have been Queen Consort if Jacaerys became King). And that after Laenor’s death, he’s banking on Baela to become Queen Consort and he wants nothing less. I already mention the oath, but other than that Corlys can easily have his blood in the royal line by having either Baela or Rhaena marry Lucerys, which is already show canon--Lucerys is betrothed to Rhaena.
Lucerys was set to inherit Driftmark before he was ever born by the agreement Viserys and Corlys for Rhaneyra and Laenor in episode 5. And we saw in episode 7 that Corlys stubbornly kept Lucerys as his heir after Laenor. Through Lucerys, the Velayrons again would still support Rhaenyra.
B)  If the show were consistent, it would give us more of how Alicent demands conformity from her kids for the sake of their protection that we see twice in episode 6: Alicent hurting Aegon and Helaena not wanting anything to do with her.
C) There’s a huge difference between an “illegitimate” son who has never been revealed to be illegitimate so they are legtiimate bc legitimacy os not as factual as people think (Lucerys, etc.) and an illegitimate child who is then legitimized openly (Aegor and Brynden Rivers).
Truebornness and illegitimacy are concepts that are themselves unfair and unreal. They are concepts and devices of power, so that a lineage can exist, and lineages are important for the structure of a noble house’s identity. 
There is nothing inherently wrong with having parents who weren’t married, sleeping with someone before marriage or sleeping with someone outside of marriage when you and your spouse have wholeheartedly and consensually agred to an open marriage, or a marriage that covers for each other’s socially-deemed sexual activities. But this society makes it so so they can construct boundaries of power and resources, who deserves to inherit what.
In other words, their feudal, homophobic, patriarchal society is wrong--not Rhaenyra, or Laenor, or these boys.
Lucerys and his brothers all are only illegitimate if we bastardry is always biological and consistently the same through out history, which Willima the Conqueror and the Anstey case proves is not. And subscribe to the validity of a feudal system’s moral code and standards of chastity. We the audience knows their paternity and many in the court are aware. 
But let’s play the game here for a bit here. Lucrys and his brothers are in a very unique position.
Because Rhaenyra married Laenor before she had them, she has the advantage of using Laenor as a cover.  And this is important: both Corlys and Laenor themselves has never said anything and accepted them all as Velayrons, and Viserys went along with it. They also “cover” for political gain AND actual love for these boys.
These boys’ illegitimacy was never revealed at any point and they grew up with truebornness. They are not legitimized. They are labeled legitimate from birth. They have had privileges and inheritances put on them from birth or childhood. 
Remember: being a “whore” or a “slut”, legitimacy and bastardry, being a cuckold are all just social labels, social concepts, and sociopolitical tools  in an political game and dynamic meant to make certain noblemen keep their hereditary power or advance. They really only matter when the society makes their women’s bodies subject to a meaning that only makes sense to advance certain noblemen (straight-acting ones with trueborness).
In the case of a bastard that has been legitimized, from the jump, the bastard has lived as a bastard from the moment they are born and their public status ha always been bastardry. In this case, their noble father has the power to acknowledge them. 
But the King or Queen regnant must actively legitimize any bastard, which would then make them competition for the noblemen’s trueborn kids. Noblemen cannot legitimize their bastard kids--which is why it was Rhaenyra who had to legitimize Corlys’ grandsons Addam and Alyn.
And even after legitimization, bastards in Westeros still carry that stigma of being a born from lust and “weakness of the flesh”.
(And before someone says that this is unfair, the green kids are princes and the feudal system of inherited powers is itself unfair because of this idea of inherited power. We shouldn’t feel bad for these princes as if their status, position, and gender don’t already put them in coveted, privileged positions. If you think that the green boys deserve more than the V boys, you are using feudal values as your moral basis and that is ridiculous. There’s really nothing inherently wrong with having parents who aren’t married or sleeping around, no matter what historical period you’re coming from.)
Because of this unique scenario, the Velaryon boys have to be exposed a snot being Laenor’s sons AND declared as bastards to actually become bastards.
For that to happen either something or someone has to expose them in public with irrefutable evidence of the deception that the king can’t just cover or evade without losing something big. Or the king/heir/would-be King Consort (Laenor) themselves must admit it. Which will never happen.As we saw in the show, since the king himself doesn’t say anything, it’s not even enough to see how different the boys look from their official father. 
(And if you are one of those who use the kids’ bastardry as the reason for their undeserving or how unfair it is to the green boys, you are contradicting yourself when you say that customs matter and we should “respect” the culture and excuse it, because one of those customs and precedents is that the king’s word is law. Yet Alicent goes against that? Some of you may even state that Corlys and Layrs were traitors against Aegon II for assassinating him, yet you don’t think that Alicent was a traitor against Rhaenyra for this exact precedent/custom of “King’s word is law”?)
Vaemond doesn’t count as a person who brings “irrefutable evidence of the deception that the king can’t just cover or evade without losing something big” as he isn’t successful. And as the actor, Will Jonson, says in a post-episode interview, that wasn’t even his main goal, which was to be defiant in the face of death.
For Vaemond to have been successful, his callout had to make others take the risk to also have the V boys declared/admitted as bastards, but Vaemond’s death rather does nothing in the show. We don’t get clips of people being frustrated and there’s nothing another noble does to actively demand from the King. We don’t get shots of courtiers with plotting faces. So despite the actor for Vaemond saying that Vaemond knew that he was going to die and decided to speak the truth that everyone already knows....yes, everyone already knows, and yet the show doesn’t show us that the courtiers or other lords are willing to rebel against Rhaenyra so this moment was really for Vaemond than anything politically moving. We don’t even get to see resentment or stubbornness from any other individual courtier, so how are we expected to anticipate an independent rebellion? When Otto takes over the Keep after Viserys’ death, we see that the nobles felt forced to kneel and two still openly said they weren’t going to. And one of the kneelers tried to leave the castle. It’s hard to see rebellion inspired by Vaemond here.
Also, the lords were clearly more interested in having a daughter marry one of the boys as by even Borros Baratheon offering up his daughters to Luke in the canon...they all had years to plan and rebel and instead the one instance of us seeing one of these lords, he does this until Luke expressly refuses.
Alicent would have to be successful in forcing Viserys to announce them bastards. Which she never was. 
The show tries to set us up that Alicent and Rhaenyra had a very close friendship where they knew the other’s personalities and could predict how the other felt, etc.  
If we are supposed to view Alicent and Rhaenyra’s relationship as ever having been close and intimate and open, then the fact that Alicent turns on Rhaenyra and tries to depose her should have come across as the huge betrayal--even if she truly were just trying to protect her kids. Two things can be true at the same time without there being excuses or moral justifications. You can betray your friend and also do it to protect someone.
Taking the show at face value, Alicent should have known that Rhaenyra would not actually kill her siblings or just sit back and allow the lords to threaten them--even from the very beginning. Going by the personality we see in Rhaenyra even in her adulthood until the 10th episode where we see a characterization-contradiction (and before Lucerys’ death), we see a person who is not willing to do what others want of her. But taking the events of the 10th episode at face value, even then we see that she considered giving the throne up to Aegon for the prophecy. 
Yet Alicent, even in her youth, doesn’t feel this about Rhaenyra? Why? Because Otto said so, so that must be the way things are? Because she has been so conditioned into obedience and has no critical, independent thinking that she doubts her acclaimed best friend’s character? But in the show showed us them being together so lovey-dovey in the first episode and begin to reconcile in the 4th one when Rhaenyra comes back from her tour and they talk in the garden?!
She supposedly claims she’s attacking Rhaenyra to protect her own kids, but then the 8th episode shows her accepting Rhaenyra’s apology--that specifically includes Rhaenyra saying she hasn’t acknowledged Alicent’s “hard work” in “comforting” Viserys over the years as a dutiful Queen should--and Alicent finds this enough to believe Rhaenyra will be a good queen?! Or that she won;t kill her kids?! And expects the children she’s been telling she’s dangerous and will kill them and that she’s a whore undeserving of the throne to step away from the anger and hatred she herself stoked?! Doesn’t she realize that she’s making herself look so foolish by going back on her own claims to not just her kids and Otto but any green supporter at court?! And doesn’t this prove it was never about her kids but about her own pride and desire for power in her abused state?! Meanwhile back in episode 4, we’re given the impression through several scenes and dialouge that the reason Alicent decides to be against Rhaenyra is because she’s jealous of her sexual freedoms (their conversation in the outdoor event, the contrasting scenes b/t her+Viserys and Daemyra). What does this really have to do with Alicent “taking care“ of Viserys and overseeing the castle?! And again, for Alicent herself and her cognition/though processing capabilities in-world, how can she reconcile accepting Rhaenyra  & her own jealousy to herself?! It’s insulting to her and women, victims of sexual abuse or not but esp insulting to sexual abuse victims.
Apart from that, Alicent has never been proven to have been a true friend of Rhaenyra, so why should I feel anything about that page she supposedly sends to pacify Rhaenyra?! (the show’s refusal to include character developing scenes instead of jump cuts/show vs tell, not her necessarily being evil). 
Instead, I would feel like this is either Otto’s manipulation or Alicent herself is trying to just mollify Rhaenyra and take advantage of her (nonsensical) resulting nostalgia and regret for their friendship’s dissolution. 
Aside from that, looking at how they actually act and what the show presents to us, this is all absurd and we should not look at this show as following its own rules and lore.
Their relationship is not really proven to have ever been close, because we see them being opposites in personality but there’s never a scene where they ever truly realize they have similar goals or desires or help each other out against antagonizers, like in any good “opposites attract” element. 
All that the writers expect us to believe binds them together is that they are both girls with fathers who don’t see them properly as persons.....but this isn’t psychologically enough to make two people actually like each other or admire each other. there needs to be specifics in the face of such opposite personalities. Also, this is going to be a very common plight of every single noble girl in Westeros--having a less present dad--so what made Alicent special to Rhaenyra, and Rhaenyra to Alicent? At most, they’d realistically be casual acquaintances, not bosom pals. The fact that their dads are in close proximity with each other is not enough. And if their dads ordered them to get close, Rhaneyra--by her character shown---wouldn’t endure Alicent’s presence for long.
So how did they come together? The show refuses to show us a picture or two of them actually bonding before Aemma dies, since they supposedly became friends long before Aemma dies! We can’t use the “dead moms” idea to justify their finding common ground due to that.
In other words, the show contradicts itself concerning the nature of these two girls’ relationship and its past integrity while arguing for how “special” it is. 
So really, for us to really take Alicent’s reasoning seriously is that she was never friends with Rhaenyra in the first place. That she would be closer to her Book!character, who was twice Rhaenyra’s age when she married Viserys.
Which means that---no, Alicent doesn’t have MUCH points nor is she in the right and her TV character is not well written to make her in-world self a rational human being because:
she contradicts herself and her motivation has not real integrity
doesn’t act like a rational person 
doesn’t act psychologically realistic 
nor is she actually showing herself to be as altruistic and loving to her daughter nor her sons

The first thing to talk about with this episode is the pacing, and I think this might contribute to why people think it’s the best/least bad of Season 4 (personally, I’d rather watch “Furious Fu” but that’s just me; also, this isn’t the only contributing factor as to why I think people might feel this way, but I’ll get there later).
The episode has a very serious pacing issue, particularly with its more intense scenes. There’s only one minute of time dedicated to Ladybug landing on her bed, de-transforming, and her snapping at her friends plus them leaving. More time was spent on Chat Noir and Ladybug in the movie theater and Ladybug storming out.
I particularly remember watching the episode and getting eighteen minutes in, at which point I had the realization of, “It feels like nothing’s happened?”
This episode is supposed to be a big gut punch, but the season has been going by at the speed of sound, like they’re trying desperately to play all their cards at once (Lukanette break-up, Adrimi break-up, then Alya is told Marinette’s secret identity). Instead of letting things build and play out for a while in the interest of suspense, the show just throws whatever will get a big reaction out of the fandom (whether positive or negative) and it doesn’t care how shoddily put together everything is. The first two episodes feel like hastily put together drafts, and while this one is technically more put together, it still feels like a draft.
Let’s just start with Chat Noir, who feels completely out of place in the episode. Not only does he imply that he intentionally calls Ladybug “Bugaboo” (which she has told him to stop doing) in order to get a reaction out of her, but when Ladybug insists that she doesn’t want to talk, he tricks her into thinking that he has a good location to do so (and my heart breaks a little at how readily she trusts him) only to then take her to a romantic movie, then shush her when she calls him out for it because she “said she didn’t want to talk.”

Gee, and people wonder why she didn’t tell him her secret (even outside of “Chat Blanc” existing)?
And... look, I know it’s a joke, but I do not find it funny. The “joke” is basically that Chat Noir is taking advantage of the situation to flirt with Ladybug, and though I find it at least mildly cathartic that Ladybug is unaffected by all the people staring at them while Chat Noir is embarrassed, this episode is coming right after the one where Kagami broke up with Adrien, and here Chat Noir is getting his flirt game on. I already talked about all my problems with “Lies” so I won’t do it again, but I’ll just say that it’s not a mystery why Ladybug doesn’t want to talk to him and would rather avoid her problems.
(Not to mention that Ladybug knows that Chat Noir likes her, so talking about her romantic problems with him is awkward to say the least and would come off as insensitive.)
Honestly, at this point I feel like they must be building to something with Chat, like Ladybug finally going off of him with no mercy and that forces him to give up/fall out of love for her because reverse love square, but if that’s what they intend to go for, then that means Marinette is going to fall for this guy who’s repeatedly disrespected her feelings for multiple seasons, almost abandoned her and let Paris drown because she wouldn’t tell him a secret that wasn’t hers to tell, and just generally all the other things he did????
Ugh, I don’t wanna think about it. Let’s just move on.
Talking about Ladybug and her rant next, it basically summarizes the whole show in a nutshell, but simultaneously casts a shadow of sorts over “Truth” for people who maybe missed the episode entirely (which is also sort of the show in a nutshell). I mean, Ladybug confirming to the audience that she was genuinely in love and happy with Luka (you can’t watch how depressed she was over the break-up and not think that) was great, but Ladybug’s dialog implies that Luka “hated secrets” and that’s why they broke up, when Luka was more just... hurt that she couldn’t be honest with him, and he didn’t actively hate secrets. Marinette broke up with him because she felt like she had to; because she had to keep ditching and lie to him.
In addition, what she says also hints to the audience that they’ve both held and kissed each other, which not only indicates cowardice on the part of the staff (”yeah this happened but--um--off-screen; we’d still like credit tho plz”), but may perhaps go back to the theory I had about how Adrimi and Lukanette were supposed to last longer in Season 4 but their arcs got cut (based on the Adrimi kiss having supposed to have gone off). This could mean that Ladybug’s statement was originally accurate to canon but the scenes got cut and the scriptwriters just awkwardly left it in, which is made more awkward by the cinema scene in “Truth” that felt like Luka and Marinette were kissing for the first time (again, alluding to the whole, “this entire season has been a draft” thing).
Also, if you think about what that actually means - that Luka and Marinette did have successful dates and kisses but they were off-screen - then all it adds up to is that showing Marinette happy and comfortable was something that the series didn’t deem as “interesting/fun enough” to show, because Marinette being happy isn’t something they want to see; only watching her be miserable, which is exactly what Ladybug says, along with how everything was “almost too simple, too easy,” because Marinette isn’t allowed to have nice things without being jammed through the wringer first.
And... sure, let’s say that Chat Noir thought the movie was genuinely a good idea; let’s assume that it could be a joke, him wanting to flirt, and him believing that it’d make her feel better somehow.
If that’s the case, then where’s the apology when it fails miserably? Ladybug goes from her semi-anxious state at the start of the episode (a little scatterbrained but ultimately just looking for a distraction), to outright enraged by the movie, and then to this upon leaving the cinema.

She just got her heart broken from being forced to break up with a boy she genuinely wanted to be with and there’s not a single, “Okay, maybe coming here was a bad idea, I’m sorry,” (which could’ve been seen as another joke with the audience like “lol no duh Chat Noir” so there’s no excuse not to have it) or, “My bad, that was insensitive of me. I really thought this would’ve helped but I wasn’t thinking about what you would’ve wanted.”
No. The only people Chat apologizes to are the other people at the theater because he’s embarrassed by Ladybug’s reactions, yet he himself feels no remorse for taking her there and has the gall to go on now about how he’s “there for her if she wants to talk.”

Again, it’s no wonder Ladybug doesn’t want to open up to him.
And I’m sorry, I just don’t buy that Marinette suddenly has all this free time. It’s one thing for her to have a little more time now that she’s broken up with her boyfriend (likely avoiding spending time with him altogether now), but “Truth” went out of its way to talk about all of the emergencies she had to deal with and how she doesn’t have any spare time. which is causing her to become forgetful and lose track of certain events (patrols with Chat, dates with Luka, etcetera), yet Marinette spends most of “Gang of Secrets” simply sulking on her bed. It’s so jarring to go from “Truth” where she was doing “too much” (which I called them out on for not describing what the “too much” she was doing was) and now “Gang of Secrets” where she’s not doing anything.

It’s almost like they invented that plot point to break Lukanette up and it served no purpose outside of it.
Furthermore, the scenes of her finally talking to Tikki and then deciding to live as Ladybug does nothing outside of making the plot more predictable, the latter because of the “Alya almost sees Ladybug” moment (an obvious indicator that Marinette is losing control and is struggling to maintain her secret identity due to her emotionally breaking down) and the former because of Tikki herself and what she doesn’t say.
Because, really, think about what actually goes on in the scene. Marinette (eyes rimmed red and filled with unshed tears, as she is for a good chunk of the episode) is venting to Tikki about - yes - her love life, but also that she has to lie to everyone in order to keep her identity a secret. The fact that Tikki focuses solely on the note of Marinette’s love life and not say a word about the identity/lying issue or even consider telling Marinette, “hey, this is clearly too much for you, you should tell someone, I think the benefits outweigh the risks right now,” really proves that the episode tried to avoid the topic altogether to try and make the ending more shocking (which ironically made it more predictable).

So yeah, not only does Tikki’s dialog with Marinette provide nothing except for a line about how she can’t help Marinette with love issues due to kwami not falling in love (alright, I guess aros can’t give good love advice then or have any input whatsoever), but Marinette’s line about lying to everyone being why she can’t pursue Adrien nor Luka is repeated in the very last scene of the episode. The only reason that scene and the scene after exist is because the writers needed Marinette to be emotionally devastated enough to leave for her balcony as Ladybug for the almost-reveal to Alya and so Rose would get close enough to the dollhouse to have an almost-reveal with the Miracle Box, making the scene feel further contrived because the emotional punch of Marinette wanting to live as Ladybug lasts for barely any time at all.
And it could’ve served a purpose, like if Ladybug had genuinely left and Alya finds her goggles and towel, recognizing them from a news story about how Ladybug had gone to the swimming pool after losing her temper at the cinema, which could’ve led to Shadow Moth making the girls believe that Ladybug was no longer heroic and had kidnapped Marinette, or... heck, Ladybug coming back inside would’ve been so much less jarring if she came back because she heard the girls’ voices talking about the dollhouse and had to hurry (but of course, then they’d have to point out the ridiculousness of Ladybug not hearing Alya calling her and the girls not hearing Ladybug literally shouting for Shadow Moth to come fight her, even though the kwami heard the girls calling for Marinette from the balcony).
But instead, the entire scene feels off and unnatural, forcing every part of it in order to get to where Marinette has to snap at the girls to make them leave.
(Oh, by the way, just a little detail to add to the annoyance: they bothered putting Tom and Sabine in the episode when the girls are leaving, clearly saddened by something that happened, and neither parent even bothers to go and check on Marinette to see if she’s upset or just to see what might’ve happened. They’re such a “blink-and-you’ll-miss it” moment in the episode and it’s not like I’m surprised because they’ve done this multiple times by now but really?)

As for the girls themselves... oof, where do I even begin?
Alright, first off is the annoyance that they assume Marinette’s problems relate only to lovesickness. Marinette has been an anxiety-prone mess throughout the entire series, and suddenly now the girls care about Marinette’s love problems on an emotional level rather than “we’ll meddle sometimes unless we don’t feel like it and be wholly inconsistent on how much we push for it.”? It’s not that I don’t see how they came to the conclusion (hearing that Luka and Marinette broke up and now seeing Marinette is depressed, it checks out), but considering they bothered noting that Marinette hadn’t told them anything, one would think they’d come to the conclusion of, “okay, we haven’t talked to her, we have no idea of what’s going on, maybe we don’t know her as well as we thought then and shouldn’t make guesses.”
Secondly is the “eternal friendship bracelet,” which comes off as a copy of the “Secrets” game from “Syren” extremely manipulative. Mylene goes on to explain that one is supposed to give a secret to the pearl “mentally,” yet when the girls actually show up to see Marinette, they expect to be told the secret directly. I’ve already talked at length about peer pressure and the mental stress Marinette goes through when they mock her and/or meddle for her, but this idea of, “well we all used this friendship bracelet after we mutually agreed to it so now it’s your turn because we said so!” just comes off really bad. I know the episode is going for this idea that their hearts are in the right place, but they’re really not. It feels like they’re the ones in denial and are trying to compensate by forcing Marinette to prove that they’re friends, unable to handle the idea that they might not be as close to her as they thought.

Thirdly, the show acts as if the girl squad are her only friends when we know that’s not true because we’ve seen episodes like “Befana” (the guys in the class), “Reverser” (Marc), “Ikari Gozen” (Kagami), and “Silencer” (Ivan) that all established Marinette having more friends than just them, but for the sake of “drama” and the depressing line of, “at least I don’t have any more friends to lie to,” the episode just pretends like Marinette’s friends are limited to Luka (who she had to break up with) and the girl squad (who she forced to leave and refuse the friendship of).
Fourthly is the actual set-up and the sheer grossness of it all. The girls call Marinette and leave a message about how they much they love her and how she can talk to them “where and when” she wants, and then - immediately afterwards - decide that they’re going to go straight to Marinette’s house completely unannounced, go into her room completely unannounced (not even knocking, by the way), and when Marinette begs them to leave, Alya basically tells her that she’s overreacting. When Marinette demands that they leave, Alya refuses and makes demands right back that they won’t leave until she tells them what’s wrong.

So much for “where and when” she wanted, right? It’s already one thing for the girls to invade Marinette’s privacy and demand/guilt-trip answers out of her, but it’s another thing to give the illusion of respecting her feelings and personal space only to actively plan to go back on it. I can’t tell if it’s a bad draft that they didn’t catch in quality check (you know, the quality check that they definitely don’t have) or just an intentional way to make them seem more sympathetic so Marinette looks worse for driving them out, but either way, it’s awful and I hate it. I would’ve rather had them be all in on invading Marinette’s privacy and learn a lesson in the end than outright contradict themselves.
There are also little nitpicks I could make (like Juleka’s constant mumbling despite Luka’s crush on Marinette playing a role in the episode, Horrificator getting sidelined due to being mute, and the girls’ akumatization ultimately being for spectacle and nothing else, serving no purpose to the plot and being furthered by the fact that Timebreaker goes after Marinette despite it being a bad idea and Reflekta’s power clearly not lining up with any sort of plan), but the real issue issue here comes down to the fact that these are Marinette’s so-called “friends” and the episode refuses to address their actual issues.
Alix, who is known for making rude comments at Marinette (”Gigantitan,” “Chat Blanc,” “Miraculous New York”) and then gives mixed messages by going along with meddling anyway.
Mylene, who is the closest thing to a background character in the girl squad but nevertheless finds her way into being definite voice against Marinette in “Chameleon.”
Juleka, who blamed Marinette for things she didn’t do in “Reflekdoll” and got huffy with her until Marinette apologized for said things.
Rose, who outright screamed at Marinette in “Chat Blanc” over a freaking stuffed animal, which pressured Marinette enough that she snuck into Adrien’s room to deliver her gift which nearly led to the end of the world.
And, of course, Alya; freaking Alya. I don’t even have to go into every single thing she’s ever done because I have a history of giving her absolutely no mercy.
...But let’s go through some anyway because I want to.
“Copycat” - Alya gives Marinette a script and tells her to memorize it, then immediately pushes the “call” button when Marinette hesitates after Marinette had just told Alya that she’s awful at improv.
“Darkblade” - Alya takes a jab at Marinette when Marinette says that she’s too busy to be class representative, implying that Alya thinks that Marinette does absolutely nothing with her time.
“Gamer” - Alya is busy recording the gaming competition when she and Marinette were supposed to be researching for a term paper. Alya then scolds Marinette for wanting to use the competition to get close to Adrien only to do a 180 and put up a fight about it when Marinette decides to quit.
“Animan” and how “The Puppeteer 2″ follows up on it - oh, I’m not going to touch that particular point right now, but keep those in the back of your mind, because I am going to absolutely go off later
“Simon Says” - Similarly to Marinette’s parents, Alya gives zero damns about whatever might be going on in Marinette’s life that's causing her to miss classes.
"Despair Bear” - Alya laughs at Marinette being forced to kiss Chloe’s cheek and then outright compares Marinette to Chloe after knocking Chloe multiple times during the episode (sure, just compare your “best friend” to her multi-year bully, how "hilarious” of you).
“Gigantitan” - Alya has no qualms about mocking Marinette’s over her failures, even if it embarrasses her and she’s been through enough already.
“Frozer” - Alya tries to find ways for Marinette to prevent herself from third-wheeling for Adrien, but when Marinette tries to show character growth by wanting to go, Alya gets into a shouting match with the other girls over how Marinette has “liked Adrien forever and isn’t going to give up now”.
“Catalyst” - Alya claims that Marinette is only salty over Lila out of jealousy when “Frozer” exists and literally is the prime evidence of Adrien liking another girl and Marinette telling Alya outright and very genuinely that she’s not jealous.
“Chameleon” - Alya doesn’t care about her best friend sitting in the back by herself while Alya herself get to sit next to her boyfriend and everyone else in general gets to sit where they want (Alya even acting confused at the mere suggestion that she’d tried to engineer things to let Marinette sit next to Adrien), then not only believes Lila over Marinette but contradicts herself twice (asking Marinette for proof when she has none herself, then claiming that she wouldn’t let her best friend sit by herself).
“Christmaster” - Alya leaves Marinette to babysit so she and Nino can go out on a date.
“Desperada” - Alya suddenly is for Lukanette for literally one episode and doesn’t know how/doesn’t even try to cover for Marinette’s Adrien blindness despite mocking her for multiple seasons over it.
“Reflekdoll” - Alya invites Adrien to something that’s crucial for Marinette to focus on after Marinette has already told her not to and continues meddling to the point where it gets Juleka akumatized (she also doesn’t get punished for it and the blame gets thrown onto Marinette).
“The Puppeteer 2″ - Alya pushes her luck with Nathalie to try and get Marinette to come with her, Nino, Adrien, and Manon to the museum, then traps Marinette in a room with Adrien to force her to spent alone time with him, even abandoning and forgetting about the child that she offered to watch for Marinette so she and her boyfriend can go off alone.
“Miraculous New York” - Alya is told directly by Marinette that she needs help seeing Adrien as a friend, which leads Alya to do the exact opposite throughout the entire special, at one point shouting at Marinette and pressuring her to chase after a car, in the rain, while there’s a supervillain rampaging through Paris, and all of this right after the scheme that Alya had set up caused both Marinette and Adrien to go missing.
And just saying, as Marinette’s supposed “best friend,” Alya sure doesn’t know how to handle her. It was acceptable back in “The Bubbler” when she asked Marinette about signing the gift too late and the same goes for “Dark Cupid,” but by the time we get to late Season 2/3 and Alya refuses to learn Marinette’s weak spots (unless it’s to mock her) and adjust accordingly (like if she’d already made sure the gift was signed in “Chat Blanc,” which would’ve prevented Adrien seeing Ladybug at all due to the time difference), it starts getting infuriating.
A best friend is supposed to cover for their friend’s weaknesses. Alya doesn’t do that; she meddles and often drives Marinette’s anxiety even further up a wall with absolutely no consideration for Marinette’s feelings (”Dark Cupid,” “The Puppeteer 2,” “Reflekdoll,” “Miraculous New York”).

And here, she and the other girls are rewarded for it. Luka actively resisted his akumatization whereas the girls gave in immediately, yet Marinette still opens up to them in the end, likely because they had pressured her and made her feel bad for the secrets she was keeping while Luka was willing to actually wait for her to be ready to talk to him. I can’t put into words how frustrating it is watching these girls trample all over Marinette’s feelings, not have their worst actions called out, and then jump cut post-deakumatization to Marinette telling them exactly what they wanted to know about her love life.

You know what this entire episode is really missing, outside of a coherent plot, properly-paced development, and a basic understanding of rewarding a character for things they’ve held firmly to?
It’s missing the apology. Chat Noir apologizes to a bunch of moviegoers and Rose apologizes for the broken dollhouse, but no one apologizes to Marinette for how they treated her, especially not the “friends” who got rewarded in the end.
“Sorry, we shouldn’t have told you that we’d respect your feelings and then showed up unannounced to make you talk about them.”
“We’re sorry we came into your room and invaded your privacy. You were right to be mad at us.”
“Oh my gosh, Marinette, we got akumatized and we’re so sorry for literally all five of us going after you and probably scaring the living daylights out of you.”
And as if that wasn’t enough, guess what else this is missing? It’s kind of important and brought up directly in the episode, yet the episode simultaneously goes out of its way not to bring it up again.
It’s the reason why Marinette didn’t tell the girls about her relationship with Luka. It’s not there - it’s missing - and the girls never try to pursue the subject. They talk about how Marinette didn’t tell them but don’t think for a second that maybe it’s them who have failed as friends. Instead, they don’t guess anything about why Marinette wouldn’t tell them (which is already strange considering how much they already assume about her) and jump straight to, “well clearly we just need to push for her to talk to us.”

Gonna just go out on a limb here and say that maybe - just maybe - Marinette didn’t tell them because they are habitually pushy in everything they do.
Because they would’ve teased her relentlessly about, “ohhhh you’ve got eyes for Luka? what about Aaaaaadrien~? aren’t you sooo tooorn between both of these cute guys?”
Because they would’ve meddled to force her and Luka together and gotten on her case when/if she ever had to bail on him.
Because their intrusion on her feelings for Adrien had caused her nothing but problems and she just wanted to be with Luka in peace without them forcing their way into things.
Because--hey, wild thought--maybe they’re not really friends???
But the episode completely avoids it, because that would’ve meant addressing it; it would’ve meant acknowledging that they messed up, which - fun fact - they actually don’t do in the episode.
They invaded Marinette’s privacy, insisted that she tell them how she feels (not about them of course because that would imply that they felt like they screwed up), and in the end it’s Marinette who gives them exactly what they asked of her, and the closest thing we get to acknowledging anything is Alix telling her/joking with her that they’ll help her confess to whoever she likes as soon as she tells them she’s ready.

That’s not an apology. That’s not an acknowledgment of wrongdoing. Even when the five of them are about to get akumatized, it’s not a circle of them saying, “here’s how I screwed up, I could’ve done better but I didn’t and I lost Marinette because of it.”
No. It’s just them talking about how sad the situation is. Mylene has the closest thing to remorse in saying, “I hoped it would work,” but where does it go? A grand total of nowhere, especially because Marinette still takes the bracelet in the end instead of the girls mutually deciding, “okay, maybe the bracelet was a bad idea; how about we all agree on making something together instead, no requirements attached?”
And then the episode has the gall to act as if Alya has gone through character growth when all they did was put Alya through the same thing that Chloe did. I’ll explain that last bit momentarily, but first let’s talk about the whole “growth” thing.
Because there’s no apology or acknowledgement of wrongdoing, all Alya does when she’s finally alone with Marinette is do a 180 from where she was at the start of the episode, going from, “friends have to tell each other everything,” to, “hey, if you don’t want to tell me, then that’s your right.”

The crucial part that’s supposed to go in the middle is missing. Instead of acknowledging her failures, Alya just cuts straight to “””being a better friend,”““ but storytelling doesn’t work that way.
It literally would have taken zero effort to fit an acknowledgement into that scene. “You don’t have to tell me everything, I get that now. All my meddling’s done is hurt you and I’m so sorry. I wouldn’t blame you if you didn’t trust me.”
In a world where Marinette has to apologize for everything, has to learn lessons and suffer because the narrative says so, I will not accept anything less from other characters who are trying to develop and improve. That’s not fair to Marinette, nor has it ever been.
Instead of properly developing Alya, the show does whatever it can to get its audience to root for her as Marinette’s “best friend” (ugh) without having to put in the effort of admitting that Alya hasn’t been Marinette’s “best” friend.
Remember when I brought up Chloe? Yeah, “Malediktator” did a similar thing, showing Chloe doing something awful, then being sad (while not actually acknowledging the thing she did wrong), and in the end she was rewarded with a miraculous prematurely.
One show of character from Chloe and Marinette gave her a miraculous. One show of character from Alya and Marinette told her that she was Ladybug.
(Also, for the record, I think Chloe is far worse than Alya character-wise and I’m not comparing their characters; this is just the simplest comparison I can draw here from a narrative standpoint.)
“Miraculer” is another apt comparison, perhaps even more so. Chloe got Hawk Moth in her head after an akuma landed in her photo of her and Ladybug, but Chloe resisted and fought back, ultimately forcing the akuma out of her and freeing herself from Hawk Moth’s control.
But it wasn’t to develop her character; no, it was to convince the audience of Chloe and Sabrina’s friendship so they’d feel something during Sabrina’s happy flashbacks, then lay the foundation of tricking viewers into believing that Chloe might not go to Hawk Moth’s side.
At the end of the day, it was doing something that’s “never been done before” in order for the character to earn brownie points for something that the writers can just have them do because willpower is an easy thing to just write in. “Gang of Secrets” does the exact same thing when Lady Wifi breaks free from Shadow Moth, with Ladybug even hammering it home by talking about how no one’s ever done it before.

And the pacing is - again - awful. Not only is Ladybug banking on this working when she herself says that it’s never been done, but the conversation between her and Lady Wifi where Ladybug tries to convince her doesn’t even take a minute.
It also has nothing to do with Marinette herself; Ladybug relies on Alya’s adoration/friendship with her as Ladybug (you know, after Alya took a photo of LadyNoir kissing and posted it online without Ladybug’s consent, betrayed her by putting information on the LadyBlog that Hawk Moth was able to take advantage of, and is the only hero outside of Chloe to resist returning a miraculous) in order to break from Hawk Moth’s control, because talking about Marinette with Lady Wifi didn’t even work.
(Ladybug also uses her yoyo as a portal to the Miracle Box when this has never been pre-established to be a thing despite Ladybug acting as if she knew it was; further proof that this episode was rushed.)

And of course talking about Marinette didn’t work, because that would’ve meant convincing Alya that her reason for getting akumatized was “wrong” and the episode didn’t want to do that. It didn’t want someone else actually learning something and feeling bad; surely, this is just Alya being manipulated by Shadow Moth and having the power to break free because Ladybug “needs Rena Rouge” and not because Lady Wifi and her friends are chasing after their supposed best friend and that’s--you know--wrong???
Rena Rouge’s reappearance is also yet another thing the episode refuses to address because it avoids the topic of “but my identity--”. At least “Heart Hunter” had the tact to have Kagami question why Ladybug was giving her the dragon again, but “Gang of Secrets” treads as lightly as possible on any discussion of identities outside of Marinette saying that she can’t, as if it were Marinette who made the choice of concealing her identity and not the basic idea of heroing that has been stressed over and over for the whole show.

Even Plagg of all kwami stated back in “Origins” that no one is supposed to know about secret identities, a rule that continues becoming flaky and muddled with each passing season, almost like they kept attempting to retcon and make the audience dulled to the idea so that the reveal in “Gang of Secrets” would be more acceptable.
But now, with the way they did it and how they don’t even have Tikki comment on the matter, it once again has it look like they’re making it - say it with me, everyone - Marinette’s fault.
Alya says that Marinette has a choice in telling her secret, Marinette insists that she doesn’t and goes on and on about how it’ll change everything, and then just... tells Alya her secret in the end.
And remember all the way back in Season 2? “Sapotis”?

Alya: What were you saying about her secret identity?
Marinette: Ladybug needs it to protect her family and friends. Otherwise the villains could use them to get to her.
Alya: Well, if I knew who Ladybug really was, I'd keep it a secret. I would even help her! Like say, if you were Ladybug, I'd cover for you — when you needed to transform in school, go fight the "baddies", you know?
Marinette: Oh yeah? Well, if I was Ladybug I wouldn't even tell you, to protect you from the "baddies", you know?
Alya: You serious? If I was Ladybug, I'd totally tell you! Because I tell my best friend everything.
And now here we are in “Gang of Secrets,” as if the narrative is saying, “See, Marinette? Alya was right all along, you were just being ridiculous and making yourself suffer for no reason!”
Yet Marinette had a right to keep her secrets. When Alya and Nino learned each other’s identities, Alya took a hit for Nino in “Catalyst” and both of them fell to Scarlet Moth’s akumas. Chloe was a mess and a half because of Hawk Moth knowing her identity. Fu had told Marinette that her miraculous would get taken if she and Chat Noir learned each other’s identities.
The only ones who received no consequences due to someone knowing their identity were Pegase (who Chat Noir and Markov knew), Ryuko (who Chat Noir, Ikari Gozen, and Hawk Moth knew), and Viperion (who Adrien knew). “Chat Blanc” also exists where Marinette got the impression that people discovering her identity would be a disaster, and even all the way back in “Lady Wifi” insisted that not telling anyone her identity was “listening to her head and not her heart,” and the narrative has relentlessly humiliated her for going with her heart, so yeah, probably for the best.
I hate that the episode avoids talking about anything identity-related outside of what comes out of Marinette’s mouth to make it appear like it was her choice all along. I hate that they had Tikki fixate on Marinette’s love problems instead of having her actually support Marinette and admit that Marinette should tell someone before she has a mental breakdown. I hate that the episode inserts Rena Rouge into the plot as if to brush all identity issues away so as to make Marinette’s identity reveal seem less jarring.
Now, of course I’m glad Marinette told someone. Of course I want her to get love and support from someone. Of course I think the benefits outweigh the risks, or I wouldn’t have written multiple fix-its where her identity gets revealed in some way or someone already knows.
But I didn’t want it to be Alya, because I knew how they’d do it. I knew they’d do it wrong and I knew that they wouldn’t have the courage to address Alya’s issues properly.

Those familiar with my blog will know that I’d been taking negative predictions for future seasons for a while and adding them to cards whenever they were proven right. Does anyone remember the Season 4 predictions that were proven correct for “Gang of Secrets,” specifically these ones?
- “Alya will suddenly be portrayed as a good/worthy friend to Marinette in/if there's an episode where Marinette tells her that she's Ladybug”
- “Alya resisting Shadow Moth/fighting back against him will be used to excuse telling Alya Marinette's secret identity“
- “Alya will know that Marinette is Ladybug first because "BFFs" despite being one of the worst candidates for it“
- “The secret that broke Lukanette up will be resolved in episode 3 when Marinette tells Alya“
Each and every one of those were mine, because I knew that whether Season 4 had a proper chronological order or not, the writers would not have the guts to develop Alya first and then have Marinette tell her in a future episode after Alya has properly earned it.
I knew that they wouldn’t take time to develop Alya. I knew that they would have Alya resist Shadow Moth to make Alya look “worthy” of the secret. I knew that Alya would swoop in during the last minute and a half of an episode, insisting that Marinette “didn’t have to tell her anything” when Alya had been pushy and insistent for the entire rest of the episode and the whole series in general, and would ultimately be rewarded with the big secret simply because she’s “the best friend” and that’s it.
The Alya at the end of the episode isn’t the Alya I’ve known for the entire rest of the series before this, or at the very least they turned her into an Alya I don’t recognize.

Alya claims during the ending scene that she knows that Marinette is hiding something beyond her love problems because she - as a reporter and “her best friend” - can sense such things, and all I’m left wondering is
w h e r e ?
Where and when has Alya been suspicious or worried about Marinette keeping a secret from her? What, back in “The Pharoah” where she didn’t immediately disregard Marinette for the role of Ladybug, or “Simon Says” where she vaguely teased Marinette about having a double life, both Season 1 episodes?
Where was Alya in “Truth” saying that she didn’t know Marinette’s secret but knew that she was keeping one? Where was Alya anywhere in Season 3 being concerned that Marinette hasn’t told her something? Where was this “supposedly very observant” Alya when Marinette needed her to out Lila because Lila got her expelled--oh wait, Alya “observed” that Lila did nothing and Marinette was just jealous.
What, is it only now that Alya suddenly “knows” that Marinette is hiding something else? Now, after Alya has already not known that Marinette was literally dating someone, even when Alya had multiples pictures of Marinette and said someone giving each other heart eyes and saw Marinette leaving school with said someone riding on the same bike together, you know, like normal, typical, average friends would?

Where’s the line where Alya acknowledges the problem? Where’s Alya sitting down with Marinette and admitting, “hey, I’m sorry I haven’t noticed this stuff, but I promise I’ll do better starting right now, and that’s how I know now that you’re hiding something else, and I’m sorry it took me so long to realize that it’s been hurting you”?
I can’t tell you where it is, but I can say that it’s certainly not in this episode. 60% of the episode features the Alya we knew from the rest of the series and then switches her out the second she’s de-akumatized for another Alya who hasn’t done anything that the old one has because she pretends like it didn’t happen.
You know how I know? Because of this absolute gut punch of a line that showed that the series wanted to handwave everything away.

“I know how to keep a secret.”
...Really? Does she now? Well, I hope everyone remembered my point about “Animan” and “The Puppeteer 2,” because I’m bringing it right back.
Considering that “Truth” has been burned into all of our memories, we all definitely remember when Truth shoots Alya and questions her on Marinette’s secret, to which Alya states that Marinette’s secret is, “She’s in love with Adrien Agreste.” Now, at the time of Season 4′s airing, this is very much not a secret, as most characters already knew about Marinette’s crush, to the point where it’d been broadcast on television during Season 2.
But do you know when it was actually a secret? Back in Season 1, specifically in the episode “Animan” where Alya told Nino.

And not only did she tell Nino, but she lied to Marinette by claiming that she didn’t, acting as if Nino knew that Marinette had a crush but didn’t know who she was crushing on, which is then directly proven false as Nino accidentally implies that he does know who it is. This is also after Alya had gotten on Marinette’s case for trying to set her up with Nino, and then she had the gall to say that she wouldn’t spill Marinette’s secret because she, and I quote, “doesn't go around making decisions for other people,“ a statement that is directly contradicted by this little thing known as everything Alya has ever said and done in the entire series.
And while Marinette meddling in Alya’s love life actually ended up working out for Alya, Alya meddling in Marinette’s by telling Nino who Marinette is crushing on comes back to bite Marinette - not Alya (because of course) - in the infamous episode of “The Puppeteer 2,” where Marinette realizes that Alya really did tell Nino that she was crushing on Adrien.
Marinette: You told me you wouldn't tell Nino!
Alya: I haven't told him. Right, Nino? I didn't tell you anything. (elbows him)
Nino: She didn't tell me. And besides, I told her I wouldn't tell.
Then, when she’s called out on it, Alya lies again, and shamelessly so.

Marinette: Why did you tell Nino everything? You promised you wouldn't!
Alya: I didn't, I swear! Besides, even if I had told him everything, he would still be clueless. Ugh, who cares anyway? I've set everything up with Nino, who doesn't know a thing, so you can finally pour your heart out to Adrien, girl!
And now, here we are one season later - and not even half of a season if you go by production code order - and Alya claims that she knows how to keep a secret.
No. No, she does not. In fact, she does even worse because she won’t even admit when she’s spilled said secret. I absolutely refuse to accept that Alya is “worthy” or “deserving” of learning that Marinette is Ladybug when she couldn’t even keep a basic secret like who her friend was crushing on.
And no, it didn’t matter that Nino was her boyfriend, or that maybe she thought it would work out because Nino was friends with Adrien. By that logic, Alya would tell Adrien that Marinette is Ladybug if she heard that Ladybug is who Adrien was crushing on and we all know how that would’ve gone.
Marinette has a right to tell her secret to whoever she wants and I’m glad that a burden has been lifted from her, but that doesn’t mean I have to be happy that it’s Alya. That doesn’t mean I have to be happy that, after so many moments of Alya disrespecting Marinette’s feelings, she is the one who gets to hear the big secret that the fandom has been waiting for someone to find out about since the very start of the series.

Luka said it best in “Truth” that the truth is meant to be shared, not taken by force, but Marinette was forced to tell Alya by the narrative because Alya is her supposed “best friend.” It pushed Marinette to her breaking point, forced her to break up with the guy who has respected her agency and feelings since the day they met, and gave her a version of her “best friend” with the same name and face but with none of the responsibility from previous events so that said version was there at the right time and the right place to hear what had to be heard.
And in the end, I end up feeling nothing. Marinette doesn’t even have a “Marinette” reaction to saying it as one would expect; for her to blurt it out and then immediately start panicking until Alya hugs her to calm her down. Instead, Marinette just says it and stares silently at Alya - after blabbing this huge, very big deal of a secret - until Alya goes in for a hug (the “happy/hopeful” ending of which is why I feel like this episode also gets less flak, as the previous two ended off rather depressing/upsetting).

It’s off. Everything is off. The pacing, the delivery, and the logic that the episode uses. The emotion in Marinette’s voice when she’s rambling about how hard it is to keep her secret is so powerful, but then the ending hits and she just says it, breaking the momentum they had going. They pulled the card of Alya walking away too soon when they could’ve saved it, having Marinette go quiet and letting Alya take a few steps away in order to let the moment build before Marinette finally blurts out the secret she’s been painfully holding in.
But they didn’t, and I’m so many levels of dissatisfied. I wasn’t against the idea of Alya learning Marinette’s secret at some point (though honestly, Alix would’ve been a better pick considering that Bunnyx will know eventually anyway, and I say that not even liking Alix!), but not now; not when Alya had so much to work towards.
And now what? What happens now? Now Alya will turn against Lila, not because she learned to have faith and believe in Marinette, but because Marinette is Ladybug, which disproves Lila’s ultimate lie that got Alya’s attention in the first place? Now Alya will be supportive and less teasing/mocking whenever Marinette will be late, not because she understands that Marinette isn’t perfect and has so many other things on her mind, but because she’s Ladybug and has “hero stuff” to take care of? Now Alya will be careful about what she puts on the LadyBlog, not because she respected Ladybug and what Ladybug would want, but because Ladybug is now her best friend and that changes everything?
Because now, Alya has a free pass to all of that, the show making her spontaneously “developed” now so they won’t have to develop her later, and disappointing doesn’t even begin to describe it.

I’m on vacation right now and I have been adding to this when I get inspired! The next part will be the last part which I hope to finish by Sunday! Because we need closure! No cliffhangers! Y/n was currently working on a kimono, the client was none other Kocho Shinobu, the insect hashira. It was daytime, so Akaza wasn’t able to be visit her, though he wish he could. He was currently down in the cellar of the mansion. Waiting for Y/n to signal him that sundown was already here. Shinobu was a very good friend of Y/n’s, and she personally would check up on her and the baby. Or babies, as Y/n would put it. Something in her told her that she were going to have twins. It was a gut feeling.
“Y/n, you really shouldn’t overwork yourself. Your body is turning very weak lately, I fear that you will fall ill if you continue working yourself too much.” Shinobu said to her one day when she came to check how Y/n was doing. “I won’t fall ill Shinobu-chan. Don’t worry so much, I’m a strong woman. I can handle this. Come now, sit down with me.” Y/n said softly, patting a spot next to her. Shinobu frowned slightly with concern. “Don’t be worried. Like I said, I am fine. Shine me a beautiful smile would you? I hate seeing a frown on your face! It disheartens me!” Y/n teased Shinobu, letting out a small giggle as Shinobu shaked her head with a smile.
It had passed around six months now, and y/n was getting sicker by the day. Her body was very frail and sickly, she couldn’t really walk around anymore either without help. Her aunt and uncle refused to leave her alone anymore but she would tell them that she needed to be alone sometimes. Senjuro and Shinjuro would come around and visit Y/n often, Senjuro more worried about Y/n’s health than anything else. Mitsuri and Shinobu would drop by too, especially Shinobu who would give Y/n medicine to help with her health and pain that she would have at times. Akaza on the other hand would visit rarely for personal reasons as he told y/n. She didn’t argue, as her energy didn’t allow her to do so. But when Akaza did visit, he would hold her and make sure she had water nearby and the medicine Shinobu gave her. Everyone, including Akaza agreed that y/n should not continue working on anymore kimonos or anything that requires work. Y/n also didn’t argue, since she was too tired to even try and everyone would notice it too.
“Y/n? Dear? You have a letter from Tanjiro-kun!” Her aunt said behind the door. Y/n immediately stopped reading the book she had in her hands. Her aunt slid open the door and gently put the letter down next to her futon. “You finished your tea already. I’ll go brew you some new tea for later.” She told y/n, picking up the tray and leaving the room quietly. Y/n smiled softly, grabbing the letter and opening it. Kamado Tanjiro, he was a very kind and gentle boy that Kyojuro had met during his hashira meeting and his last mission. Tanjiro had come by one day to deliver some last words from Kyojuro to y/n, which made her burst out into tears, then proceeding to grasp Tanjiro into a hug, causing the young boy to cry as well. Ever since that day, the both of them wrote frequently to one another, with y/n telling him about her pregnancy, wishing him luck on his missions and other things. Tanjiro would write about his missions, or his day, or how Zenitsu and inosuke missed her and how much he loved reading about how y/n and the babies were doing. Another point to y/n on how she knew she was going to have twins, when Tanjiro visited her one day during her early months of pregnancy, he assured her that she was having twins. Still, no one believed the two, though Zenitsu too assured her that she was pregnant with twins.
A few days later, Tanjiro and Nezuko had stopped by to pay a visit to Y/n. It had been around two weeks since they had last seen her, and Tanjiro was dying to speak to her. As Tanjiro and Nezuko walked to her residence, he couldn’t help but think about how much of a mother figure y/n was to him and Nezuko. She reminded him of his mother, her gentle and soft spoken nature caused him to think of his mother when y/n spoke or laughed. When she hugged him the first time they met, Tanjiro was left in a state of shock, the warmth was that of a mother, a loving and kind embrace. They both arrived in front of the mansion and immediately saw the gate open. It was Y/n’s aunt.
“Oh! Tanjiro-kun! Nezuko-chan! Good timing! I just brewed Y/n some tea! Come in! Come in my dears!” Her aunt waved, yanking Tanjiro and Nezuko in before they could even greet her. “Thank you very much Mrs. L/n!” “I told you to call me aunt! We are like family now! Don’t be shy dear!” Mrs. L/n giggled, putting a hand over her mouth, her eyes closed. “Ah yes sorry Mrs— erm auntie.” How much he missed visiting the L/n residence.
“She’s in her room! You know where it is darlings!” Aunt L/n said, before leaving to go get the tea. “Come on Nezuko, let’s go see Y/n!” Tanjiro grabbed Nezuko’s hand and they both quickly made their way to her room. “Y/n.” Nezuko softly said. “Yeah that’s right—!” The doors to y/n’s room slid open, interrupting Tanjiro. “Tanjiro. Nezuko. I’m so happy to see you both again.” Y/n smiled softly, her arms wrapping themselves around the siblings. Tanjiro’s eyes widened, “You can’t be up mother!” He quickly realized what he said, his face flushed red with embarrassment. Y/n laughed weakly, still hugging the two siblings.
After getting settled and drinking some tea, y/n pulled a small box out from her drawer. “I want to give you both something. As you both have been very kind to me, my family and my children.” Y/n said, pulling out two small handkerchiefs, one patterned like Tanjiro’s haori and the other like nezuko’s kimono. Y/n handed them to the two siblings, Tanjiro bowed his head, taking the piece of cloth and looking at it closely. It was a snowy mountain, it reminded him of his home, the snow, the trees, the grey sky. Y/n was taken by surprise when Tanjiro embraced her, tears falling from his eyes. “I’m—.” Tanjiro started but was cut off by y/n embracing him back tightly, Nezuko joining in, both children nuzzling themselves into Y/n’s hug. “You both, are one of the many greatest treasures blessed to me. I am so glad to have two wonderful children like you both.” Y/n said in between tears, Tanjiro looked up at her, a warm gentle smiling adoring her face as tears fell from her eyes. The two of them cried softly, Nezuko blinking in surprise at why her two favorite people were crying.
When Akaza arrived later that day, y/n was a bit shocked but she quickly welcomed him into her room. Akaza went to give her an embrace but he stopped midway. She smelt different, and it irritated him. Just who the hell was she seeing during the day? He had gotten familiar with a few scents, her aunt, her uncle, three friends that she refused to give the names of, but these two new scents were just unbearable, he had smelt one of them somewhere before, but he couldn’t remember from where. Y/n picked up on his new mood and looked down slightly, preferring not to say anything, as Akaza could easily get annoyed when he is in deep thought. Y/n sighed, pushing a piece of her hair behind her ear. Suddenly, a wave of pain hit her like a rock, she didn’t know what it was but it was almost as if it was a cramp. She let out a small gasp, covering her mouth quickly so Akaza couldn’t hear her, but Akaza had noticed and was already by her side.
“What’s wrong Y/n? What hurts? Tell me! Where is the medicine? Come on! It has to always be near you! You know this!” He cried, looking around for the medicine Shinobu had given to y/n for pain. “It’s in the cabinet. Top shelf.” Y/n replied, putting her hand on her stomach. As Akaza was looking for her medicine, she started to hum a tune, rubbing her stomach to soothe the babies down. “On wintery days, up on the snowy hills, a house not far from the village—.” A few small kicks from her stomach caused y/n to stop singing. She was surprised, her babies have never kicked once. Akaza froze immediately at how silent the room had become, he swiftly took the medicine and was by y/n’s side in less than a few seconds. “What happened?” He questioned, glancing back and forth at her and her stomach. “The babies, just kicked me.” Y/n answered, tears brimming from her eyes. Akaza was in shock, his eyes moved to look at y/n’s, she looked back at him, her eyes now sparkling like the stars. “Akaza-kun, I want you to know something.” Y/n started, picking up his hand and moving it towards her stomach, placing it on top. “I might die, giving birth to the babies. But it is worth my own life, as any other mother would do the same for their children. These babies, will have a life worth living, they will be able to experience what it is to grow, to love and to cry. Even though, their parents won’t be around.” Akaza’s eyes widened at her words, how could she calmly say such things? Does she not fear death? Why is that? How is that possible? No, he could not let her die, not when she had children to live for. “You can not die. You must not die!” He cried, gripping her hands tightly, causing her to flinch and look at him with surprise. “These children, can not live without a parent! They need you! Their mother! Their mother is most important person in the world! That is why you can not die! Their fathers may not be alive when they are born and when they grow up! But they will have you! And you will tell them all about their fathers, their lives and their wills! So you have to promise me….” He paused, staring intently into y/n’s eyes, who’s eyes have started to spill more tears. “…you have to promise me that you will live! For you! And for our children!” Akaza yanked y/n into a kiss, he could not be able to cry one single tear, as much as he wished he could, but y/n knew this, as she was crying much more now. “I will have to leave you. This is my last visit. I only wish. We could have spent much more time together. If only then…if only, no, this is how it must be. I’m sorry. I—.” The words wouldn’t come out of his mouth, he couldn’t say it, he didn’t have the courage to do so. Y/n gently gripped his hands, bringing them up to her heart. Akaza stared in awe, as y/n’s tears finally stopped.
Why did it have to be like this? Why couldn’t they just be together a bit more? Was it too much to ask for? He was going to be a father, after all these years, and yet he had to leave it all behind. His little affair with Y/n, his own child, his love, his kindness, his warmth, it would be all gone. All of this happiness will disappear after he leaves, after he steps foot out of her mansion, the final battle was approaching, and y/n knew it too. Why was the world like this? No, he had a role to fulfill, he must continue fighting, no matter the cost. Akaza was a demon, he ate and murdered humans. He was a monster, a very strong monster too, yet this woman who someone managed to entangle with his emotions, caused him to see beauty in the world just for a little bit. The woman who’s fiancé he had killed with his own hands, he took her only happiness away and still she found new happiness with him. And now, with twins on the way, she would be happy even more. How beautiful. Akaza felt himself stand up with y/n by his side, going near the window in the room, they stood in front of it, hands intertwined together. She kissed the knuckles of his hands, and opened her mouth,
“You are one of the most understanding, kind, respectful and wonderful persons I have ever met in my life. I am thankful for having such a sweet person with me for this long. I owe you so much Akaza-kun. So please take care of yourself.” She reached her hand out towards his cheeks, his eyes widening with confusion, her smile, was the most genuine he had ever seen on a person throughout his entire life as a demon. “Fight with honor, and do the best you have ever done in your entire life, as this is the last blessing I will give you…” Y/n’s hands fell to her sides, her eyes glimmering with passion and determination. He knew this was it, this was their last day together. As he jumped from her window, into the garden, and onto the fence. He looked back one more time to see her, just to see her before he left for good, his heart aching as he heard her words slip from her mouth.
“Akaza-kun. I love you too.”

About the current (last?) arc of AnY and going full circle
Sorry if some fans already mentioned those ideas but I’ve been rereading the current arc, because it’s been quite long and the pace has its flaws sometimes, so I wanted to broaden my perspective on the story. 
First of all, as an introduction can I just say that I’m, as always, impressed by Hak’s character. He had so much cliché and shallow potential when the story started (I really used to roll my eyes at him), but he became one of my absolute favorite by how deep and strong-hearted he actually is, once he allows people behind the walls he built around him. Anyway, my love for his character & development knows no boundary. I had to say this, ok. I’ll explain why later in the post. Moving on. 
A conflict of generation
If there is one thing I love about Kusanagi-sensei, it’s the feminine touch she adds to her writing. For example, when she naturally addressed periods during the Xing arc and it fit perfectly, because that’s just how her writing goes. In this arc, it shows through the initial bold move to tell us readers about the past through the thoughts and words of a character we’ve never met, that is to say, Yonhi, Yuhon’s wife and Suwon’s mother.

And yet, it made absolute sense, because Yonhi was the reason behind the cataclysm that eventually led to Yuhon killing priests, as well as the falling-out between him and his younger brother, Il. All along, Yonhi was the silent but pained witness to this feud, watching as the ego of two brothers destroyed everything when none of the two backed down, leading to first Kashi’s death, then Yuhon’s murder and finally Suwon’s coup. 
So, in a way, even if I think Suwon makes a far better king than Yuhon or Il, his circumstances kinda precede the logical decision to get Il out of the picture before he completely annihilated his own kingdom in poverty and war, because there is too much resentment and hatred that fueled Suwon while growing up, even if we readers know that his motivations are primarily about saving Kouka from war against the Kai Empire.
Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely despise both Yuhon and Il but, unfortunately for Suwon, Yona growing up sheltered and mostly unaware of the horrible truth highlights her own decisions throughout the series to be completely selfless and wanting to own up to her father’s misjudgement, rather than trying to get back at Suwon, effectively breaking the cycle of hatred amongst the royal family. 
Why the Wind Tribe kept on supporting Il when everyone else could notice that he was betting on his daughter as the reincarnation of King Hiryuu to save his country is beyond me (Mundok plz explain). Not that Yuhon was better, preaching wars, and I’m glad that Il eventually reconciled with Yonhi, telling him that he would accept Suwon’s judgement but...

...I can’t forgive him for his words. 
Like Yonhi, I’d rather he would have hoped that his conflict with his brother did not reach his children than entertaining it the way he did.

Hopefully though, now that Yona read Yonhi’s memoirs, she will work towards achieving that goal. Not that I have any doubt, since she never really managed to hate Suwon. 
Speaking of the past generation, reading the latest chapters I couldn’t help but wonder about Yona's sad dream... could it be that she inherited Kashi’s gift? Kashi did say that she had these prophetic visions since very young which doesn’t seem to be Yona’s case, but I’ll keep the idea in mind, because it’s interesting. I mean, from Yonhi’s memoirs, it seems that Kashi envisioned that the child she would have would be Hiryuu’s reincarnation (whoever the father was going to be), so Yona inheriting the same prophetic gift from her mother would make sense.

What an ironic parallel to Suwon inheriting the Crimson Illness from Yonhi if that’s the case, am I right? 
Yona as Kouka’s next Queen
And by that I do not mean Keishuk’s plan to marry her to Suwon, because of her popularity with Kouka’s people. Obviously, the story always was to conclude in Yona getting her throne back and that’s even easier to imagine with Suwon’s disabling illness, but becoming a ruler is tough work and Yona had no real experience acting as a leader for an entire country. 
She didn’t know much before her father’s murder and, even after she became a runaway with Hak and the rest of the HHB, she finely dealt with crises affecting some parts of the kingdom but never the whole kingdom at once, like it’s doomed to happen with the war against the Kai Empire.

So I really appreciated her stepping up when Suwon couldn’t, because that’s definitely good training and we see the results in the latest chapters:

To be fair, I always thought that Keishuk would be the biggest thorn in Yona’s side during this arc but, as many characters have said in this arc, he’s rather clever and honest about what he intends to achieve, which is why it’s not in his interests to get in the way of Yona if they share a similar goal.

War against the Kai Empire: there is strength in unity
The Kai Empire has been depicted as the story’s big bad for a long while now and the common goal for which Yona’s faction and Suwon’s allies could unite, but I’m glad to get more specifics and new characters to explore that part of the plot.
Namely, Mei and Vall. With Chagol, they seem like the perfect foil trio to Suwon, Yona and Hak, except that Chagol seems like a real thorn in the other two’s backs, when a strong bond still ties our main trio in spite of the sad circumstances of the beginning. I particularly love the mirroring reflection between Mei and Yona...

...except that Mei is not at odds with one kingdom but with two and that she also deals with the Crimson Illness. :/
Now that war has started, the big threat that South Kai represents will obviously be dealt with, but Kouka kingdom will need more than its five tribes to win this. That’s where I’m sure we all expect to see old “enemies” come back, namely Xing Kingdom, since Kouren signed a military agreement with Suwon, thanks to Yona and Tao. I would bet that this won’t be enough either, but Xing are the only known allies that Kouka kingdom has. 
There is another “enemy” we know from the previous arc though, who have strong feelings against the Kai Empire, specifically about rulers treating their women badly and they are...

...Ying Kuelbo and the Tully tribe. 
The big difference between Xing Kingdom and the Tully tribe is that Suwon never met or dealt directly with Kuelbo the way he did with Kouren and Tao. The Tully tribe lost and Kuelbo ran away, betrayed and having to find a new way to take on the Kai Empire. That’s why I think the Tully tribe would eventually make for a good ally in this war: it showed good promises when Yuran and Yona got along and I think Yona understood where Kuelbo was coming from, especially now that Mei is with them and can probably tell them in details about Chagol.

Not saying this will happen soon, but since there is someone who met and fought against Kuelbo, probably gaining his respect, if this person was to seek the Tully tribe to make them Kouka Kingdom’s ally on Yona’s guidance, I think Kuelbo would give it a thought. That’s right, I’m talking about Hak, who’s currently on his way with Yoon to the Earth Tribe to fetch a drug that will not be able to save neither Suwon nor Mei, thanks Zeno for spoiling us. 
That’s what I meant when I said that Hak slowly became one of my favorite characters throughout the story. While the Sky Tribe seems to be taking bets on who between Yona and Suwon will eventually sit for good on that throne, there is a good chance that Hak will be one of the key players when it comes to winning that war against South Kai. Not that we should expect any less from the Thunder Beast. <3
To be very honest though, I expected this arc to be very tough for his character, because the truth behind Il’s death and Suwon’s coup would never be easily understandable to him (Yona’s own words, not mine):

Yet, surprisingly he was able to at least listen and, no matter if he will ever understand Suwon’s choice or not, he decided to trust in Yona’s decision to back Suwon in the rising political issues.  
In general, I love how Hak is the least bound by the past before Suwon’s coup. He did respect Il as his king, but he did not protect Yona in the beginning for anyone else’s sake but her own. Just like Kashi once asked him to always protect Yona (which is sweet since she could see the future) but, considering he never even thought about her words once in the story, it’s likely he doesn’t remember that at all, making the choice to be by Yona’s side defined as solely his own. 
It’s this strength of his that eventually led him to say recently that he would go fetch that drug with Yoon, knowing that it was for Suwon’s sake (surprising Suwon himself), just like he will definitely fight for Kouka Kingdom, not because Yona wants him to but because it’s clearly his own desire (see ch211 where he let Yun go alone so that he could help the Earth Tribe fight):

All that makes Hak the wildest card of every agency in the plot, not simply because he’s strong and reliable and the biggest worry of the Sky Tribe, but because...

...Yona and the four dragons will never give him up.
Through Hak, Yona will be able to assert her political weight and he will be there for her, like he always was, making it impossible for their little group to lose. What a power move, I love it. 
I think I should stop there because I already rambled so much. Looking forward to the rest of the arc, it’s going to be a wild ride!!

Hello! And thank you, that’s so sweet of you :3 I don’t remember if I’ve said this (I’m pretty sure I have??) but I’m currently in uni, and course-load and exams have practically made it their mission to kick my ass at every possible moment, which is why there are these long breaks where I’m just, completely inactive (and I hate it, but I haven’t unlocked enough levels of adult to figure out how to healthily balance my work life and personal life - maybe in a few years ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ )
But I am still writing!! (or, am going to be when I get a moment to breathe) Definitely motivated and interested and keeping at it!! :D
As for projects, oh boy. What haven’t I got going on (loads, is the answer, but to go over a few!)
I don’t really have any original projects - I’ve never really liked creating oc’s for some reason? I much prefer having the characters from a show/book/whatever and working off of them for the story/plot whilst still keeping some of the character we all fell in love with intact - I don’t know. I really love making small comments about the OG platform (quotes, moments, mentions, really anything, just small easter eggs for myself and whoever reads the story) that I obvs wouldn’t be able to make with my own OG content xD Everything would be canon then.
As for fanfiction! So much!! Absolutely none of it is finished, because I have zero patience or sense of delayed gratification when it comes to posting - I just want it all out at once and to read everyone’s comments at once xD
I’ve got stories going for a few different fandoms and ideas just written down in my ever-growing ideas-doc for even more! I think I’m going to correctly assume you might be here for the SKAM fics, tho ;p
Basically, I’m horrible with understanding what is and isn’t a spoiler because I know the twists and turns so I just take it all for granted - however, when I actively try to describe a fic without spoilers, they end up sounding genuinely dull xD But I’ll do my best without giving too much away!
I’ve basically got so many stories going at once that I genuinely have no idea how many there are as I always forget some, so here are a selected few!
Obvs, there’s Even’s POV for “Something Great” (aka “that fic” aka my twitter legacy) which is nowhere near done. I’m really loving what I have got down, though! As far as I remember, I’m about 8k in, but I’m shooting for 30-40k, so no time frame. In case you didn’t know, I’ve done an entire announcement post where there are also a few previews included :D
Then there’s a pretty much crack fic with some angst and a way for me to memorize my course work that actually isn’t too far from being finished, but... it needs some work. It’s basically one of those “heeey, you’re pretty much my best friend and I don’t have unrequited feelings for you at all (lies), so it’s totally okay that we pretend to hook up to get back at our roommate who keeps sexciling us only for it to turn real” kind of AU.
Then there’s the other crack fic from boy squad’s POV (well, Jonas, but they practically serve as one entity) about them being oblivious to Evak until one day Isak announces #Evak is real, but they’re just so sure they would have noticed something, so they think Isak and Even are pranking them, so they set out expose them. A+ content, if I have to say so myself.
Next there’s my newest pride and joy that I’ve currently got sitting somewhere between 50-60k with no end in sight. I love this story, I cannot being to describe just how much I love this story. There is so much to this story, and I don’t want to give anything away :’( Basically, Isak has quite serious trauma from something that happened in his childhood, and it’s set during his second year in high school - he’s living in the Kollektiv (with four rooms, ‘cause I aint sending Noora to London), and he’s got the boy squad, Eva and Jonas are still dating so the girl squad also make a lot of appearances. And it’s basically just this major character exploration of the different ways Isak’s trauma appears, how it impacts the way he interacts with other people, the way he sees the world and other people, how he basically doesn’t deal with the trauma and how severely it affects him. And then there’s this entire thing about the sudden suicide of a famous Norwegian pianist (not one of the major characters, I ain’t about that life) that somehow ties into everything and everything turns very shady.
That barely covers the actual story and I’m pretty sure it sounds so jumbled up, but I literally can’t figure out how to describe it without spoilers.
Then we’ve got another angst-galore! A traveling AU! Which, timing, I know. We’ll ignore that. With my pace, it won’t be ready until traveling is allowed again anyway ^__^’ It plays on the themes of lost and found, and it’s basically about how Even travels to find out who he is, but he ends up finding Isak instead, running into him in different cities and countries, and they fall in love, but Isak is traveling to lose himself and everyone - ah. Angst-galore indeed.
What else - there’s a snakesak ABO!AU, because I’ve never written either, and for some reason, I must’ve apparently felt the need to put the two together. ABO is the kind of AU that pretty much everyone holds different opinions on - it’s not a tag I filter out, but it pretty much differs from story to story how much I like it. All I know is, when it is done well, it is done well.
I know there are more, because there are always more. I’ve definitely got so many ideas that I haven’t gotten anything down more than the premise: There’s a murder mystery AU, because I’ve wanted to do one pretty much since I wrote the first chapter for Beat the Record (you know, back when it was still just supposed to be a oneshot xD) and now I’ve finally got a basic storyline for it! Featuring detective Even who has been demoted to a permanent deskjob and basically only kept on out of pity after screwing up evidence? an assignment? plans still pending. Not accepting this, he sets out to catch the new serial killer with the help of newly hired forensic scientist Isak, whom he asks for help because of how talented Isak is, not because Even has a big-ass crush on him. Then there’s the university AU that’s basically a rom/com where Even is one of the hosts for the uni’s radio station, sees pretty boy Isak generally being a mess, falls instantly in love and keeps talking about “the cute boy” on the radio, asking if anyone knows his name and if they can get him his number. Isak only finds out about it because Magnus is a listener and accidentally figures it out.
And so many more. Literally. We are talking pages upon pages, let alone some quite long stories I also have going for other fandoms. I seriously can’t wait - I just need to get myself writing xD

*This is absolutely a fic promotion, but plz hear me out on the discourse part too
So, self inserts and original characters, the worst fanfic catgeory (fanfiction.net literally says that in one of its fic groupings, and I'm pretty sure the number of views on any fanfic website says the same).
TLDR- Yes, I agree that this stereotype carries truth, but I do think SIs and OCs have more potential to be explored, and the stigma surrounding these labels is blocking that. And oh god I just want to know so badly if this is the deal with the work I'm currently writing or if I genuinely just can't write well.
The longer version- (this was written quite late into the night/ I'm in Singapore/, and might not be so well organized, I apologize for that.)
To what extent is this stigma "justified"? I mostly use AO3 for reading fics, and when I see the OC/SI tag, the thing is....I came to look for fics about canon characters and might not have the wish to invest my time in taking in a new character. I understand that most people who read fanfiction would feel the same. This, I think, is more or less justified. If you came to look for a certain canon character/relationship, and you don't want to get invested in any OCs, then of course the OC/SI tag isn't for you.
But... I think that's about it. Bcs here's the thing,
1. Using the OC/SI format does NOT automatically make the fic worse in quality. Hell, I'm not even sure if the statistical "fact" that these tags generate the worst fics is true. Judging from what I've read in the tma fandom and my other past fandoms, the stuff with OC/SI isn't inherently worse or better than the rest of the fics. There are ones that are pretty normal in writing quality, and the ones where the prose is rly good, others where plot design stands out etc. Of course, there is a lot of wish fulfillment and the like, but... there's also a lot of that in fics that write about canon characters.
2. I can't really say whether a wish fulfillment "I just want to write cool scenes/fluff" fic is better or worse than a more serious fic that explores some characterization or plot point. I think stories (all stories, books, fanfic, myths, everything) exist to entertain us and make us feel things. I am not sure if writing a feel good story is any less meaningful than writing a story that brings people "deeper" thoughts and makes them feel good in some other way. And this isn't even the issue at hand, because fundamentally, writing an OC/SI or not doesn't determine what the content is about. I agree that a larger proportion of OC/SI fics tend to be more on the lighthearted side, but... so is most of the content consumed in the other tags. Readers don't seem to have a problem with feel good stories/fix it fics etc when there is no OC or SI, so I don't see why that type of fic paired with an OC/SI should be considered any less "meaningful".
3. Guys/gals, what is an OC/SI?
Yes, it is very personal, and it is very wish fulfillment, but... isn't that like a common literature thing...like in general? Look at the works that "real writers" publish, from contemporary to the classics, which writer doesn't write about themselves? Like, just off the top of my head, Les Miserables, Marius? Um, Dante's Inferno? (and that guy did not self insert into some random thing he straightup went for the Christian Canon😂 used his real name too, so Jonny I guess if you feel awkward about your MCs name you can think of Dante//Jk). But seriously, self insert and wish fulfillment is a big part of literature itself, and while there are things to be said about these tropes, if people don't have that much of a problem with them in other literature, I don't see why fanfic OC/SIs shouldn't be treated the same.
4. in relation to the last point. More specifically...
I do think that a lot of fanfiction which write about the original characters are also OC/SIs to different extents. I've read fics that depict pairings where the author and readers project heavily onto one (or more) of the characters. I've read stuff where the author uses a minor character to explore the established world building/character dynamics and it's clear that it's an SI but with the appearance of being a canon character (and yes it gets tons more views than one that's written as SI). How do I know this? Because I am one of those readers who project onto those characters, and I know why I read those fics, I know why I like them. It's because I can self insert, and feel like I am part of the story, part of the world. Isn't that something most people want to do? I mean, Universal Studios? Specific franchise themed museums? COSPLAY??? Of course that's not all there is to engaging with a story, but what's the shame in wanting to be a part of an already established world building, or want to love a wonderfully designed character? (slight tangent, but if u feel like it's bcs ur not as interesting/cool as the story's world or other characters appear to be then I can tell you with certainty that's not true. You are very interesting and cool and absolutely deserve to be part of a fantasy world.) Isn't that a big part of why "real literature" is written and read as well? So... what's the problem with being like, okay, I'm just gonna insert myself into the world now, through this original character? Of course, I'm not asking for people who prefer to write strictly in canon characters to change that. What I mean to say is, writing it in the form of an OC/SI, doesn't make it a lot different from other fics, or hell, from classic literature even.
I think a potential problem might be the feeling that you are taking too much creative liberty with something that is established canon, by having your own character directly interact with it. But, um, can't the same thing be said if you take a canon character, and then proceed to project heavily onto them? Like, a big part of why I don't feel comfortable writing just canon characters is that I know I'm clearly projecting and it feels awkward to rewrite an already established character to explore my own thoughts/desires. I would rather just straightup design a new character. (this is all just personal feelings, I haven't thought enough about this to make any kind of argument here. And of course, the main reason is I can't trust myself to write canon characters that don't ooc in some way so having one as my protag might kill me with my own awkwardness. )
5. the potential.
Now this is looking far ahead because I'm not sure how much our current system for distribution of knowledge & copyright can allow it. But damn. The OC/SI thing has a lot of potential. There is one thing that makes it different from writing in canon characters, and that is the way it opens up a clear space for you to add your own experience into the story. When exploring your own world view through the lense of an already established world, or vice versa, so much can be revealed about both, perhaps even bringing to light aspects of the narrative the author hadn't previously seen. We all know this feeling, it's when we ramble on about one of our stories or worlds to a friend, and they point something out, and we're like ooooh that makes a lot of sense but I hadn't thought about it before. Yea, like those moments. Stories are generally made more interesting by their interaction with many different perspectives/experiences. With OC/SI it straightup allows you to be like, okay, I'm going to engage my own experience with this fictional world/character now. I mean, isnt that also a large part of how fanfics work in general? Readers/writers bouncing symbols and experiences off each other in the form of stories? Reading about the various interpretations of canon stuff? Whats the problem with tagging it as it is? I'm just thinking about the fics that could have been written as OC/SI and explored the story in some fascinating way which weren't written at all or were discontinued bcs the number of views discouraged those authors. (I feel that with my current work as well, though I have already written half of it and the remaining half is too juicy to give up so I'll probably be completing it)
6. conclusion, sorta
I guess what I want for OC/SO fics is just the same treatment as everything else. Saw it in the tags you were searching for? Look at the teaser. Do you find it interesting? No, then very well. Yes, then click in and take a look. Do you like the writing style? Are you getting into the narrative?... etc. You know, like, same standards you would have for any other kind of fic. Not feeling like you want to read about a new character? Cool, no problem at all, click away. But I do not think that the current difference in number of views is just based on whether readers are interested in reading about a new character or not. In fact, that's what I want it to be. Show me that "true" difference, the one without the stigma behind it, because, as the same goes for every kind of stigmatized community, you're not receiving the proportionate amount of positive feedback, but what's worse is you can't even trust the criticism you receive. If no one engages, or someone gives a negative feedback, how am I supposed to know if it's because my writing is bad? or my teaser wasn't interesting? or my character was badly written/designed? Or if it was to a certain extent, bcs of the stigma? I do want criticism, of course I do, it's the first step to every improvement, and I would love it if I could get feedback that I can trust. (and this brings us to the truely "oppressed" community of the fanfic world, the people who write very good but cant write interesting teasers//jk)
7. the entirely skippable straw man rant part, also the expression of my love for The Magnus Archives.
some straw man: if you like writing your own characters so much, why not just write your own story entirely? and publish it?
You think I'm not annoyed about that? Here's the thing, I LIKE THIS WORLD I READ FROM THIS BOOK/SOME OTHER FORM OF MEDIA OR WHATEVER, I like it, it's brilliant, I want to write for it, about it, be in it, think about it, read about it, engage in whatever way I can. I CAN'T just "go write my own." And who do you think is more annoyed about not being able to publish the stuff? (According to you) I have written something that is potentially publishable (thank you btw I know you don't exist and is a strawman I invented just now but I've gotta get my compliments where I can//Jk), and I can't publish it in any potentially big way (and rightfully not) because I have no copyright over the characters. I worked hard to design my character, to make the plot meaningful, and to study the original canon plot and characters so that it would all fit together (I mean, partially bcs I can't force myself to sit down and write sth that is any less complex), and I can't actually publish it where more people will read it. And of course, on top of that, even less people will feel like reading once that "original character" tag is up. Does it look like I would be here if I could "just write my own"?
(slight tangent but come on what even is "your own"? how many classic European lit books were just fanfics of each other which were all just fanfics of the Bible or Greek mythology or sth? Stories and symbols have no boundaries it's the economic system that drew those.)
Damn this got way longer than I thought and it's morning now😂 guess I ran out of space to actually promote my fic, might have to do that in a seperate post then. i wanted to talk about my own experience with toni / taylor / swiftofrph / margotofrph / admin baby / quinn etc. around the time of 2013 - 2016 ( phew plz be patient with me as i’m not great w/ writing things out so i’ll try make it as clear as possible ! )
i must admit that taylor and i had a friendship that for a while i really appreciated. i cared about her a lot, which is exactly why her behaviour was so triggering and somewhat traumatising towards the end of our friendship. however, i have made a few friends through this experience that i am so fucking grateful for. i just wanted to put this out there for those who run groups and/or those who are joining groups, who want to know what kind of person she is/was, and to be wary, lest she proves that she can change her behaviour. 
( tw; writing adult content with minors )  -  i met taylor in a smut roleplay group when i was sixteen, so it would’ve been 2013 i think ?? there were no age restrictions in this group, as i was sixteen at the time, and my best friend, who was fourteen, was also in the group. taylor was a legal adult at the time, yet interacted with the both of us, and often pushed me to complete her ships and write heterosexual smut - mostly haylor - with her despite the fact it made me uncomfortable. i was young, anxious and eager to please, so i’d give her the ships she wanted, so that she’d give me the ones i liked in return. ( i was wrong to have been in that group but at the time i wasn’t aware of how dangerous it actually was. i was very naive at this point in my life, and due to trauma i wasn’t very good at noticing red flags. )  i don’t think i really realised until recently that she was one of the many people in the rpc who would roleplay sexual content with me being a minor, and with my characters being minors too. ( i don’t have any reason to believe that she would do such a thing now, but the fact that she didn’t find it questionable then is very strange to me. the second i turned 18, i instinctively knew that it was fucking creepy to smut with anyone younger than myself at that time. )
she’s proved herself to be incredibly ignorant over the years i knew her. at some point she was suggesting latinx names for my white characters, and pushing me to join roleplay groups that ‘would be okay with lesbian characters’. the wording of this threw me off, because even then i was under the impression that every group should be okay with LGBTQ+ characters. she also allowed a straight, cis female character into a sapphic-centric group so long as the character pretended to be gay.
she dismissed my mental illnesses, and implied that i ‘drove people away’ with the way i worded things in the ooc. she knew me for years, and knew about my intense anxiety and the social awkwardness that came along with it. ( i’ll admit i’m a little at fault here, but as an admin she should have tried to be a little more understanding, especially as someone who suffered from anxiety herself. )  
she allowed bubble roleplaying and didn’t make an effort to resolve the issue. there were several times i was excluded from her group i was a part of and she did nothing to prompt people to reply to my posts or interact with me. it was very cliquey at the time, and when i brought up these issues she called me impatient and told me to ‘wait for people to reply’. the issue wasn’t people taking days to respond, it was that people weren’t replying. period. she made me feel guilty about wanting to drop my characters due to lack of interaction. 
SHE ALLOWED CONSTANT HARRASSMENT + BULLYING FROM OTHER GROUP MEMBERS. this was what caused me to end the friendship with taylor.  taylor had a friend join the group not long after myself who went by the name heaven. i’d plotted with heaven, and after two dead threads, i didn’t interact with them again because i was socially awkward and figured i’d annoyed them. until they interacted with a starter of mine, in which their character made an advance on mine, which mine reciprocated. days later, without having interacted with heaven again, their character was accusing mine of sexually assaulting them. from this point onward, the gossip blog was full of hate towards my character that was all very obviously from the person who went by heaven - though it wouldn’t surprise me if taylor was involved in this too. i told taylor and the other admin about this multiple times. the other admin wasn’t much help but she was definitely more sympathetic than taylor. taylor didn’t even give heaven so much as a warning, and they were allowed to continue their harassment for weeks until they got bored of bullying me and left. it didn’t last long, however. taylor then allowed this same friend to come back under a new alias. it wasn’t hard to figure out it was them, since their writing style was the same, and the second they joined the group, their character was harassing mine, and once again the gossip blog filled with hate for my character. a good deal of the messages were also subtle digs at me as a person also, which was devastating.   taylor allowed this to happen. and basically implied that it was my own fault because my character had a mental illness, and it made her unlikeable. she once again let this harassment continue for weeks, maybe even months. from this point onwards, i tried to avoid dealing with taylor. 
THIS WAS A TERRIBLY HORRIFYING AND TRAUMATISING ORDEAL. i have an array of mental illnesses, and she essentially allowed people to push me to a breaking point. even though she didn’t directly harm me, she was actively participating in it by allowing it to happen in a group that she was in control of.
i was so anxious to be on tumblr that making an indie was incredibly difficult for me. i was constantly worried about taylor making an indie under a different alias, and risking the chance of having to interact with her again. 
while i can’t speak on her behaviour now, i can definitely speak on how she’s behaved in the past. i believe that people can change, but it certainly doesn’t seem like she’s made much of an effort to. i can only hope she learns from this experience, educates herself and treats people with a little more kindness.

When Stretch first moved in with Edge, there had been a lot of expectations about co-habitation. Most of ‘em were reasonable; keep messes at a minimum, rinse dishes in the sink before putting them in the dishwasher, any condiment that leaves the kitchen is no longer allowed back into the kitchen, during the day some form of clothing was a requirement, not a thoughtful possibility.

There were a coupla of the rules were obviously added with him in mind. No smoking in the house was ongoing and constant for anyone, but it was a pretty good guess that the one about no sex in the kitchen was probably made special for him.
Course, it had originally been no sex anywhere but the bedroom. Hadn’t taken too much coaxing (and pleading and begging) to get Edge to see the error of his ways on that one. Not when they had a very nice, roomy shower and a sofa. And lots of chairs. And a couple of nice, comfy walls. And on one memorable occasion, the stairs, going up, thanks. Then he settled back on the sofa, turning his show back on. The episode had about twenty minutes left and that’d give him a chance to plot. Seemed to him like a good time to challenge the ‘no sex in the kitchen’ rule again.

growing up, he was allowed to paint his walls & even ceiling however he pleased & it instilled a love of creativity in him. his parents still have paintings he did as a child hanging up on their walls & fridge. even now, he still draws casually, though it was always a hobby for him & not his actual passion.
his parents are extremely caring & understanding. as a teenager, they allowed him to go out & party & always made sure to get him home safely. mikey genuinely can not remember a single time they ever yelled at him even when he fucked up massively. so he tries his best to make sure they’re happy & taken care of. but they’re adamant in supporting whatever mikey wants to do.
they were both the alternative types, which meant that rock music filled their home. mikey was familiar with classic rock from a young age & the sounds of fleetwood mac & other similar bands fills him with a warmth that can only be attained from childhood nostalgia.
his first taste of love came at the age of seven. his parents always brought home new albums to listen to & his dad purchased three cheers for sweet revenge by my chemical romance. while the screaming & raging instruments could have been too much for anyone else his age, mikey embraced it fully.
it ignited an adoration for the genre as a whole & soon enough, his parents were bringing home various emo music albums to sate the always dramatic & over-reacting mikey. for christmas, he received mcr’s discography (at the time, just two albums) on vinyl, which he still has hanged proudly on his wall as an adult.
he owns every variation of every mcr album now. vinyl, cd, cassettes. he even collects the japanese versions because he likes the way they’re designed.
he dropped the name mike / michael because of mikey way & he refuses to answer to anything else.
even though it’s largely part of “cringe culture” now (which mikey refuses to participate in), he loves hot topic & goes there whenever he can. his closet is full of band tees & he has a drawer filled with those spiky belts, bracelets & pants with the suspenders from his teenage years.
he’s been dyeing his hair regularly since he was twelve. he’s had every color under the sun. this is what his hair currently looks like but he dyes the highlights with kool-aid, so the color is always changing.

Eliza has a black cat named Frances that she adopted as a kitten the summer before her third and fourth year. She refers to her cat as her child and the animal is frequently seen with Eliza whenever she’s not in an academic setting.
The moment Eliza came to Hogwarts, she was fascinated by quidditch. She didn’t make the team until her second year, the youngest player on the team by far and the youngest beater the team had seen in years. As much as she enjoys the game, that’s all it is to her - a game. She likes the rush she gets when she flies more than anything else though she does prefer to win - but who doesn’t? Upon entering her sixth year, she was elected captain and plans on keeping that title into her seventh year.
Eliza, unlike some in the wizarding community, has absolutely no problem resulting to muggle strategies. She has a mean right hook and anyone who’s ever messed with her friends can attest to that. She has always specialized in defensive spells and hexes but she has no problem punching someone if they somehow get her wand.
In addition to quidditch, Eliza is in the dueling club, for obvious reasons, and an active member of the Herbology club. Those who don’t always see her as a Hufflepuff can very much see her traditional ties to her house upon seeing her makeshift garden in the window sill of the girl’s dorms.  She has earned her title of plant mom several times over, though she far prefers the allusions to Persephone than to the joking title bestowed upon her by her fellow housemates.
Despite her combative personality, Eliza has no desire to become an auror, hit witch, or anything of the like after graduation; she wants to be a healer. She’s frighteningly protective of her friends and is always the one who heals their wounds when they get injured and she had learned how to heal her own wounds before she should have. In the coming war, Eliza knows that the side she’s aligned herself will need fighters but an army can’t win if they aren’t taken care of - she has no problems fighting and dying for something she believes in, but she knows the importance of healing in a war zone.

Of course, that was never discovered until her Hogwarts letter came, which brought Dudley’s wrath down upon her with a vengeance. However, to say that her life up until that point was remotely easy would be incorrect.
Like her brothers, she had inherited her father’s temper and obsessive loyalty to family; unlike her brothers, she had also inherited her father’s chubby cheeks and round stomach. Her mother, a woman with a waifish figure that rivaled Petunia Dursley’s, put her on a diet before she reached the age of five.
With a mother who constantly poked and prodded her body at every turn, Eliza turned to her father for validation. His compliments were similar to her mothers - a backhanded slap with a sweet in the other hand, though his slaps were far more physical than Matilda’s. But like most children, she refused to see the bad in the people that raised her.
By the time she received her letter from Hogwarts, she was already well trained in obedience, undying loyalty to her family, self-hatred, and loathing of all things different; the letter came as a slap in the face, one that her father reiterated after reading it over her shoulder. Her mother was the one that saved her from Dudley’s wrath, only to look upon her with disgust. It was her mother that convinced her father to send her to Hogwarts, whispering “at least this way we won’t have to look our shame in the face.”
The months leading up to her departure to Hogwarts were miserable; one of the professors escorted her to Diagon Alley, her parents more than happy to pass her onto a stranger. Instead of being excited about the entire experience, she dreaded it. The world of magic was something that her family made damn sure she hated. The trip caused her to break down in tears more than once, seeing all those smiling families made her ache for her own and the hum of magic around them absolutely terrified her.
Her arrival at Hogwarts didn’t excite her anymore. When the Sorting Hat cried out the word “Hufflepuff” Eliza wasn’t sure if she should be excited or not. She didn’t understand which houses were bad and which were good; to be quite honest, she considered all of them to be pretty bad considering they took her away from her family.
The first few months of her schooling was pretty difficult, the young girl withdrawing into herself, still full of rage and loathing for herself and those around her. She struggled in all of her classes too scared of magic to fully allow herself to be immersed in the school work.
Eventually, she became friends with other Hufflepuffs and the odd friend from another house. She started to become herself again; or, rather, she started to find herself among those who didn’t look upon her with disgust and disdain.
As she grew more confident in as a witch, she started to pull herself away from her family’s interests. Her mother spewed hateful words at her during breaks and her father sent her back to Hogwarts with bruises.
It wasn’t until the summer before her fourth year that she refused to go back to her family’s home. She found a shop that would allow her to work and lived in the Leaky Cauldron during the summer, picking up odd jobs where she could.
Of course, she’d been planning it since her second year, after her father called her best friend damned freak and an awful influence on his disappointment of a daughter. She had taken his wrath for far too long, feeling like she deserved it, but when he turned on someone else, someone she loved and cared about like her own blood, she couldn’t accept that - she wouldn’t accept that.
It was during that time that she started to develop a much firmer sense of self. She didn’t need the love of her parents and brothers - she had another family, the one she found at Hogwarts, the one she bloody well chose. And she had herself. That was enough; or that’s what she told herself when she found herself missing the family that birthed her.
She felt the rage inside her start to quell, slowly but surely. She had people who loved her and she could deal with that. Sure, she would punch the odd boy who decided to put his hands on her or her friends and maybe she would occasionally go harder than she needed to during dueling club, but she working on it.
It wasn’t until the Death Eaters and their fascist ideals made a reappearance that the rage beneath the surface came back with a vengeance. There were hints of it before the attacks began. Mudblood started being thrown around whenever she passed by, though she quickly learned to smile back at the person tossing taunts her way. She was used to name calling, she’d been called fat and a bitch by her parents, and she wears both titles with pride now and mudblood was no different. She made herself crop tops with mudblood embroidered in bright pink and purple that she wears nearly every time she goes to Hogsmeade with her friends. She throws smirks over her shoulder at people look at her in disgust or confusion and hexes at those she suspects are Death Eaters or supporters of their cause.
If those people were going to hate her, she would give them a reason to. She fought back more than most people do. She’s mastered almost every hex and dreams of creating more. Unlike some in the Wizarding world, she had no problem resorting to “muggle” tactics, throwing punches when her wand was taken or hexed away. Because of this, she’s been targeted by death eaters, whom she politely calls “Britian’s Trump Supporters.” She meets their sneers with hexes and has gotten into physical fights with them several times over. She refuses to stop fighting or be intimidated by people who hide behind curses and masks.
A war is on the horizon and she’ll die in it before she allows someone she cares about it to hurt in the name of it. Of course, she can’t save everyone, even herself.

Ride or Die Babey!! - ONE SPOT TAKEN BY NATALIA, TWO OPEN SPOTS || Eliza is loyal to a fault and treats her friends as family, given her blood related family is far from perfect, but these are the people she would live and die for. This would probably work best with Hogwarts students who are involved in McGonagall’s Army.
‘Puff Pride - OPEN, UNLIMITED SPOTS || Eliza is a Hufflepuff through and through and loves her housemate more than anything. She’s the captain of their quidditch team and organizes makeshift tailgate parties in the common room. She’s also been known to comfort the lonely first years who are homesick and has created a running list of birthdays for her housemates so no one goes without acknowledgement. She’s become something of a den mother to her fellow ‘puffs and is fiercely protective of all of them.
Frequent Flyers - FIVE OPEN SPOTS || Eliza is an active member of McGonagall’s Army and hopes to become active in the Order after graduation. She’s got a mean right hook and a sharp tongue full of hexes  and she puts herself in the line of fire quite often, but she focuses a lot of her energy on healing other people involved in the war. She’s been known to be rather rash so she sympathizes with her fellow MA members who have difficulty controlling their anger; she often swaps stories with them while she patches them up. This is open to Hogwarts students who are involved in McGonagall’s Army.
Enemies and Lovers - ONE SPOT OPEN || This is someone she knows damn well is trouble but still falls into bed with. It’s very much a “fight and fuck” relationship that is never acknowledged once the two of them get dressed. This is open to any Hogwarts student, regardless of gender, and would work best with a Death Eater or DE sympathizer.
Ex-Partner - TAKEN BY MADDISON || It was stupid, teenage puppy love that ended in flames once the fighting really began. They ended up on opposite sides, or in Eliza’s mind they did - your muse could be neutral or DE or whatever. There’s still a lot of angst and pain that goes along with this relationship. They fluctuate between not making eye contact with each other and screaming at each other. This is open to any Hogwarts student, regardless of gender, and would work best with a Death Eater or DE sympathizer.
Keep Your Enemies Closer - ONE SPOT OPEN || Eliza is too blunt to con someone, she’s more of a slash and burn type of gal; but others aren’t, especially those on the other side. This is someone on the side of the Death Eaters that is attempting to use her for information or are trying to trap her to be tortured by one of the leaders of the Death Eaters. Eliza is very outspoken and observant so this would have to be someone who isn’t obviously affiliated with the DE and therefore likely isn’t in the inner circle.  This is open to any Hogwarts student and would work best with a Death Eater or DE sympathizer.
Mutually Assured Destruction - ONE SPOT OPEN || Eliza has 100% been attacked and tortured by someone involved with the Death Eaters before, most likely multiple times. She’s seen their faces and she’s more than willing to share that information with anyone who will listen to her, but perhaps they struck a deal. Eliza won’t say anything to anyone, provided her friends are protected from harm. It’s a risky deal and both of them know it won’t last, but it’s something to keep the peace for a while longer. This is open to any Hogwarts student and would work best with a Death Eater or DE sympathizer.
Tormentors - FOUR SPOTS OPEN || As the previous connection stated, Eliza is a target for the Death Eaters - she’s vocal about her hatred towards the group and has physically fought memebers before. These characters are the ones that are always at her throat, constantly looking for ways to fuck her up, and vice versa.
Parental Figures - TWO SPOTS OPEN || Eliza stopped going home for breaks around her fourth year and was essentially homeless until someone took her in. This character was either a Hogwarts Professor, a Diagon Alley employee who let her work for them, or one of her friend’s parents. She still works in Diagon Alley and/or Hogsmeade over breaks to make money so they could still work together or they might let her live with them when she has nowhere else to go.
