I get and can sympathize with the fact that fandoms always go copium and try to "both sides" shipping whenever their preferred pair is down.

And yet. And yet.

I don't even know why we're still playing this game with Tama vs Nero. It's no contest.

1) Despite Tama being far more explicit about her desire to marry Haku than Nero, not only is Nero the only one to marry Haku in any scenario, but thanks to Nasu, Extella and Grand Order both support this as the canon end of CCC.

2) Tama and Nero both remember Haku in Grand Order, but Nero doesn't go for Ritsu while Tama eventually does. People just kinda ignore this entirely. Nero Bride is an alt Nero who didn't meet her "fated spouse" - Haku.

3) "But they're poly in ExLink" no, they aren't. As flanderized as the characters are in that game, Nero is portrayed as Haku's co-ruler and lover while Tama isn't. Look at their starting lines, the first introduction to their relationship. Nero's bond one line is about resting together with Haku while Tama's is asking if Haku remembers when they declared eternal love - "no? Well, it's easy to forget." Both are generally comedic, but the humor with Nero is that she's a finicky lover, the humor with Tama is that she's delusional. That isn't poly, that's Nero and Haku in a relationship and Tama being haha funny yandere about it.

Like, ship whatever you like - Tama has her routes and canon shouldn't be the be all end all for that anyway. But pretending that it's an equal deal here just isn't true.

First headcanon that pops into my head: Very physically affectionate once she gets to know someone, and a total sucker for chin scritches

One way in which I relate to this character: Chomp chomp

Thing that gives me second hand embarrassment about this character: Don't know that I'd call this second hand embarrassment, but the scene where she makes fun of Berdly always kind of rubbed me the wrong way. Given how she acted prior to that moment (especially in chapter 2) it felt more targeted and personal than Susie's usual "rudeness". At the same time though, I recognize Berdly had it coming since they knew each other for a while prior so I don't know that the criticism is justified.

Sexuality headcanon: Bi and also polyamorous

OTP: Kind of in a weird boat with her. I ship her with Henry and Charles, but only if it's poly triple threat. And also I honestly have no preference between romantic vs platonic triple threat.

BroTP: Triple Threat as I mentioned above, and I'm sure you're well aware of how I feel about Ellie and Reginald as a duo (god these two... these two)

NoTP: Kinda a controversial pick but RHM? I don't really have a good reason for this one so no hate toward anyone who likes this ship, but I don't see it working out between them.

First headcanon that pops into my head: She's not connected to the CCC in any official manner, but she does have a friend who works there; she mentions having "contacts" in Capital Gainz so that's where that idea comes from (tfw you accidentally make a whole oc and didn't realize it until like two days ago)

One way in which I relate to this character: Awkward speech patterns (she tends to speak somewhat slowly and her tone of voice doesn't change much)

Thing that gives me second hand embarrassment about this character: The mispronunciation of Toppat is a personal pet peeve of mine sorry

Feared toppat king Henry with his terrifying second Ellie both acting like blushing idiots in front of the two new recruits that joined during the launch, Reginald (a rookie theif that stole their diamond a few months previous) and Right (a former ccc prisoner who broke out with Reginald when the other broke in for their emerald).

The rest of the clan finds it hilarious.

Though the Toppats knew not to test their luck and kept quiet, enjoying watching their leader and his right hand turning into a stumbling mess around Reginald and Right.

Eventually Henry asked the quite but sly Reginald out, with Ellie eventually asking the tough and mysterious Right out as well. And soon afterwards, everyone just formed a giant poly pile of Henry, Reg, Ellie and Right.

Eh, perhaps not impossible, but I don't think it would really work with how Extella has been setup to this point. To go from Tama being yandere third wheel to an equal partner would be quite out of left field. But of course, Nasu isn't afraid to change gears entirely. Extella itself was a jarring shift from Extra and CCC, yet he did it. He'll just say "AU" and do whatever he wants. But...that's the thing. I could be mistaken, but I honestly don't think Nasu wants to do the poly thing. I don't think he has much love for Tama in the first place. He seems to keep her around because he knows she's popular and he wants to keep her fans happy.

Personally, I feel bad for Tama fans, but I think Nasu should have either kept the routes segregated or just outright sank TamaHaku so as not to lead anyone on. Going about it with the half-and-half approach as he has was probably meant as a compromise to Tama fans, but it didn't really work imo.

I should also say that despite some of my annoyances, i do feel sympathetic to Tamamo fans.

I mean, in the original Extra, Tama was in every way as valid a choice as Nero. And unlike Nero, Tama is clear from the get go she wants to wed Haku. That just begs shipping them. She just seems like cute mikon waifu with perhaps a darker side, but who doesn't have one in Fate?

Then CCC comes out, and Nero marries Haku instead. Ok, well that's still just Nero's route and Tama has a route too, and neither route is more canon than the other right?

Then Extella and ExLink. Nasu comes out and says that Nero is Haku's true servant/lover and that Nero marriage end is canon for all intents and purposes. TamaHaku isn't resolved though, because that would make a fan backlash and we don't want that. Better to keep Tama fans engaged and clinging to hope. So instead, Tama is relegated to a possessive and toxic foil, doomed to lose to Nero in what she wants most.

Then, to top all that out, Grand Order goes ahead and perserves the sanctity of NeroHaku by creating Nero Bride (with a character bio that once again asserts NeroHaku marriage as canon). Meanwhile, what does Tama do? Slowly but surely jump ship to Ritsu. Again reminding us that Nasu values NeroHaku while Tamamo and TamaHaku is red meat to throw to those still clinging to the early days of the original Extra.

Like, seriously, it's rough. Tama got shafted hard. It shows just how disjointed the result is when the fans want one thing and the writer wants another.
