Not enough people talk about how good of a friend Armin was to Eren and how in touch he was with not only his own emotions but other people’s as well, so I’m gonna say my piece.

This scene always comes to mind. Armin notices that Eren is shaking and asks him if he’s scared.

Eren, being a teenage boy who thinks he’s tough shit (for lack of better words), immediately gets defensive as a gut reaction to what he probably perceives as an accusation instead of a genuine observation (again, because he’s a teenage boy who thinks he’s tough shit).

Armin’s response to that is to empathise with Eren and show sensitivity and solidarity, like: “Hey it’s okay if you’re scared dude, I’m shaking too.”

He’s not ashamed of the fact that he’s afraid because he knows that it’s a perfectly normal human response to the situation he’s in. He even goes so far as to physically show Eren that he’s trembling as well, and Eren’s demeanour changes immediately after that.

Even in this scene where Eren, Mikasa and Armin have canons pointed at them, Armin is able to understand and empathise with the fact that the Garrison soldiers’ hostility towards them is due to them being scared because they don’t know what’s happening.

In the early days of the fandom, when season one was airing especially, a lot of fans were very quick to label Armin as a crybaby, but the thing is that Armin is just as intelligent emotionally as he is logistically.

He’s able to identify his own emotions and express them healthily (most of the time), which means that he cries more often than other characters because he’s going through a hell of a lot throughout the series and his output for those emotions of fear, grief and stress is tears. Of course he’s also guilty of bottling them up at times — nobody’s perfect — but he generally just seems to have a better grasp and understanding of his own feelings and the feelings of others than many other characters.

so far in the world of thamepo we've seen over and over that silently sacrificing your own happiness for the good of someone you love is ultimately never the way to go (thame tried it for the sake of the other mars members, jun for thame, and inevitably all the sacrifices po made for his ex who then promptly dumped him also feature in there), so my god, i hope that this well-intentioned lie of gam's comes to light at some point asap and she and pepper still get their happy end

#obviously the topic of sacrificing personal happiness is intricately linked to the whole idol culture thing they're delving into #the company is constantly asking them to do that. the fans are LOUDLY asking it in this episode.#the way the company sold out pepper to save thame fits into this discussion too. which by the way!! awful and i really loved it #the storytelling of this show!!! i keep being bowled over by how Good all of it is. how incredibly well done #and also. calls to mind real cases of this exact thing happening. which for me mostly makes me think about rock hudson #and i like that. a little classic hollywood feels somehow wildly appropriate for this show #*#thamepo #thamepo the series #note: when i wrote 'jun for thame' i was thinking about jun's stance on things all the way at the start of the series #and not when he stepped back from po. however. i do still interpret that as. yes he had real interest #which then could arguably be an example that plays against my nice little list of moments where sacrifice isn't the way to go #HOWEVER. i think there is also something to be said about communication here #sacrifice without informing whoever you're doing it for that you're trying to help them = noble but ill-advised #talking it out (the way thame made them do) and not pursuing something because your friend's heart would break = different maybe?#and also. to be fair. stepping back from pursuing a romantic partner who is openly interested in someone else is different anyway #that's not falling on a sword. it's more like choosing not to run headfirst into a wall for no reason

//Do you ever wonder what Barry's life would have been like if he had Malcolm had been raised with his family? As an Allen. As Barry's brother. Like what would Barry's life be like then? What would Malcolm's life be like? How would that have changed their futures? The universe as a whole?

I think there should be canon alternate universes where this happens. I wanna see what could be done if Malcolm had been raised as an Allen. I wanna see what Barry's life would have been like. How the Flash legacy might have changed? The Thawne lineage? That might not exist at all if Malcolm never develops a hatred for Barry. (Bart still might though with his perpetual paradoxical existence.) Also what about the existence of Don and Dawn and their history? Would he have had the chance to raise his kids in the 20th-21st century? Would Don and Dawn been alive longer in the 20th-21st century?

There's just a lot of details that could be thrown up into the air by shifting the course of both Barry and Malcolm's lives in this one little way.

Take like how different the Absolute universes are from canon you're familiar with.#there could be a universe completely different; there could be a universe where Barry is never the Flash because of whatever pos. or neg. -#influences having Malcolm as a brother could lead to. Also depending on the status of his parents (whether his mother is alive or not etc.)#but also just implicitly remembering Malcolm exists/having him exist in another universe you can fuck with narrative expectations.#By that i mean you can have a universe where Barry and Malcolm are instead given each other's names. As the reader you would make #assumptions about how a character that is presumed to Barry would act in contrast to Malcolm. If Barry's acting off to the reader then it #can be assumed that this version of Barry is simply different than the main universe Barry. And the same would be done with Malcolm.#But instead you learn through the narrative the character called 'Barry' is actually just the Malcolm of this universe instead #and the 'Malcolm' of this universe is in fact the Barry you the reader (and in my head the mc interacting with them; i assume would be a #universe hopping speedster already familiar with Barry. For example: Wally or Bart.)#So yeah! Lots of options with them and fucking with expectations because they are twins who look exactly alike/that comics are a visual #medium/ and bc ppl rarely remember/just know that Malcolm exists.#>:3c makes my evil brain tick in the best way

thanks to you i've been hyperaware of cursor motions (both mine and others') for the past 4 days haha

especially when stressed, there's a tendency to both move the cursor faster but also overshoot. also, apparently some people move their cursors in arcs instead of straight lines.

im definitely an arc-mouser. it helps me zero in on a target, and i like to watch it and/or the things im dragging around fly in pretty curves while im thinking. turns that human error into a nice lil swoosh
