feeding the vinnie brainrot (both yours and mine): what's your favorite little trivia tidbit about him? also gimme some of ur biggest headcanons for him
sorry it took me so long to answer this, I kinda lost alot of my motivation to post hcs and stuff bc of something that happened but now I'm back and better than ever fr ....
One of my favorite things about Vinnie is that he took liberal arts, psychology and film in college. He talked about transferring to NYU to continue his studies in psychology and he wanted to switch it to his major.
Vinnie also continuously brings up religion/god throughout the series, he talks about how he believes in "something" but he never exactly states a religion. Although it's safe to assume he grew up Catholic, seeing how Everytime Vinnie comes back to life his relationship with religion becomes more and more damaged. Isn't it crazy how he's doomed to be religious in every life? only to have that belief torn from him and he's forced to suffer with what he's done? Fairmount Vinnie deals with the reverend, Princeton Vinnie says a prayer before habit shoots him, channel Vinnie says god abandoned him, shortly followed by habit "saving him" but letting him out of the apartment. Habit wants to be Vinnie's god. And Vinnie would like that too. it's better than slenderman.
Vinnie can kinda play guitar... I say kinda because he mostly plays to play and goes off what he hears. We see this in the sleep lab videos for a split second. And also on the channel "Crash621" there's a little video of Vinnie playing trouble by never shout never which is adorable to me HELP. that's not really an emh video but I still like to think it is.
Vinnie was 100% aware that he killed Alex and he consciously still made the decision to smile and joke with Jeff even though that freak KNEW that he just killed the only family Jeff still had left.
Vinnie once dressed up as Alan wake for Halloween (Evan was a splicer from bioshock i think!!!!!) Vinnie is based heavily off of Alan wake (an author who realizes he's not real and in Alan wake 2 they talk about it being a spiral and not a loop which means there is an ending which is alot like emh!)

Vinnie owns a "Hot fuzz" shirt which is such a gay buddy cop movie, I'm not joking. The original role of Danny butterman was supposed to be played by a woman snd it was supposed to be a romance but instead they casted Nick Frost and kept the script like. exactly the same. so yeah. gay buddy cop movie... this is his shirt

In the Princeton tapes Vinnie says he's gonna vote for Dukakis (Michael Dukakis who ran in 1988.. Vinnie and Evan called him dookie cock LMAO) Vinnie says that he plans on legalizing drugs but that's actually not true, Michael Dukakis was known for having a strong stance against drugs and one of his main focus was a "war against drugs" so in a way Vinnie was kinda picking a better future for himself. Although Dukakis lost to George bush so Vinnie did not get what he wanted.
anyways hope you enjoy lol

Happy Valentines Day but more importantly
Happy Tak Day!
Since she's my favorite character, here are some fun facts about the Empire's most unique invader!
Despite being a Valentines episode, Tak: the Hideous New Girl debuted May 10, 2002. So her birthday would actually be in May, not on Valentine's day.
If you accept May 10th as her birthday, Tak is a Taurus
Tak's holographic disguise has limitations; her human form still had three fingers and a backpack where her pak is
Appearance isn't the only strength of Tak's disguise; she also dumbs herself down a bit and speaks with a higher pitch when disguised as a human.
This first one is an exclusive fact from the Galaxycon Columbus 2023 Q&A! When given the choice between hanging out with Zim, Dib, or Tak, Jhonen hesitantly said Tak, but noted that she wouldn't be fun either because of how bitter she is
In the Invader Zim 20th Anniversary Q&A, the cast members were asked what their character's nightmare job would be. Tak's actress Olivia d'Abo's answers were her canon janitor job and Mary Kay since she thinks Tak would hate being feminine.
Wondering where Tak is? She's in Moo-Ping 10, as shown in the epilogue compilation at the end of the Dookie Loop of Horror. According to Jhonen's 20th Anniversary gaming stream, the reason Tak's ship perked up at Dib's mention of Moo-Ping 10 was because Tak was locked up there, most likely by Zim!

Speaking of Tak in Moo-Ping 10, she was originally supposed to make a minor appearance in Enter the Florpus in a post credit teaser. However, Jhonen canned this because he didn't want to restrict what a follow up on EtF could be about.
Tak was supposed to make her second appearance in the episode Top of the Line, but the series was canceled before it could be produced
Although nothing in canon directly states this, it's very common in fanon to depict Tak as a defective Irken like Zim. Evidence for this includes her seeing herself as an invader despite her encoded janitorial class, her uniform being completely different from any Invader, and in general how unique she is in a sea of uniform Irkens. She's sort of like the neurodivergent gifted kid of her class.

okay guys hereās my crazy unsupported st5 theory that is mostly just me projecting my need for madwheeler bonding and drama and angst also byler duh
disclaimers: i never make theories so this is extremely messy probably, i know jack dookie abt writing shows i think of this as my own little version of what i would think would be very cool to happen, if this has loop holes dont ask me anything bc idk either
OKAY LETS GET ON IT
so first things first here is what i am taking into consideration for the theory to happen:
⢠mike pov, self reflection and introspection (he is gay and in love with will byers okay)
⢠madwheeler bonding, theyre both complex n misunderstood
⢠the upside down isnt just one dimension, i came up with this bc of how different the ud looks now
compared to when henry arrived.
to me theres like an umbrella dimension (yellow one) and others under it (blue one/hawkins ud, the void, etc)
this is also lowkey supported by the silly boobie diagram the writers posted abt

OKAY PREPARE FOR THE WORD VOMIT
in this silly theory of mine, a new dimension variant of the ud will be revealed in season 5, serving as a parallel to the void. this is where max is
OKAY another thing is this is also heavily based on those āleaksā that were going around twitter (for me at least) earlier when the strike first started. i remember a few of them claiming that we would get a deeper insight into mike and his own things, so this is my interpretation
this would serve as another vanishing, not really bc its shorter, but this time mike will be getting stuck in this other dimension, eventually finding max BOOM madwheeler serve
i mean look at them. the potential is insane
ANYWAYS
this dimension is like a combo of all the other ones, picture it like the hawkins ud, with the voidās wet floor maybe
lets go back to the fact max is here, this is her coma nightmare, its like this purgatory dimension vecna put her soul in
in this dimension inhabit your ghosts
this overwhelming, haunting, tormenting realm in your mind where you are constantly confronting all your bad memories, maybe this is kind of how vecna keeps max under his grasp, no happy memories allowed
okay so, mike gets there. how? when? i dont fucking know this is honestly just word vomit fanfiction to me
at first hes confused, scared but mostly confused, picture him screaming for wills name (the parallels) at first itās empty and eerily quiet, but as he accepts it, the ghosts start coming in.
he gets BOMBARDED with these bad memories, some of them he cant even remember because come on, bro is always neglecting his internalized feelings/monologue in fear of what they say about him
this is where we get his pov on the whole will and eleven situation, amongst other things (like the way heās constantly stressed thinking about the safety of the people he loves)
for a moment we see him break, bc these ghosts are LOUD and MANY
but it stops
max is here, sheās like āMIKE?ā
āMAX?ā
shes been here for a fat minute, she knows how to handle these ghosts in fact shes been going thru them one by one ever since, because shes done hiding. and she suspects that the only way to get out is by confronting them.
max saves mike from his ghosts, explains that this place is seemingly a purgatory with levels of memories and ghosts to overcome
this is how we get our madwheeler bonding we so graciously need, as they are part of eachother ghosts since theyre so similar it makes the other mad
this is how our complex misunderstood characters are broken down, explained to the audience, while also discovering the mystery that is this new dimension where at the finish line they might just figure out how to defeat vecna.
because they will
after overcoming the ghosts they find the place that vecna didnt think they would reach as he was so sure they would break and collapse on their own madness
think of it as how el found the source in season 3
or how max found vecnas lair after running away in dear billy
except this place is vecnas actual mind, they can see hear and feel what vecna is thinking, his plans and everything
mike wonders how will feels being able to feel this all the time
will feels this all the time
will is always connected to this piece of vecnas mind, to this source
he can always hear vecna
until he suddenly hears max⦠and mike and theyre calling for help
theyve figured out key clues on how to defeat vecna, and they have an idea on how to get out. this is how willās connection comes in handy
mind walkie-talkie
maybe thats what this theory should be called, idk
-
so thats how we get our byler confirmation, madwheeler bonding like never before, mike focus, and the key to defeat vecna
at least in my head
i know this was messy and all over the place but it was very fun to explain and drop all my thoughts ive been vomiting on the gc for months now
let me know what you think, what you would add, if theres anything you think will support this theory?
its all just a theory, for fun! pls keep that in mind
thank you if youāve read this farš«¶

How it ends
the ending of IZ is ,, a really odd topic
technically it has 4 endings, well, 4.5
1 : invader dib
no, it in no way was a planned ending ever, but i feel it deserves mentioning considering how prevalent it was
it originally started on TAIZS when the producer was interviewed, he went on to confirm there was a intention to steer the show towards IRK and talking about its āāexistenceāā

(also istg there was a ask where he vaguely explains the plot as a joke but i canāt find it for the life of me)
there were multiple versions of it but thereās two that circulated the most
A: āthis special would have allegedly followed Tennās kidnapping by the Meekrob, and an all-out war happening between the Meekrob and the Irkens, which would have ended with Zim (aided by Gaz) being victorious over Dib, The Resistys, and the Meekrob, and finally conquering Earth.ā (fan wiki)
B: the focus of the show would slowly shift towards irk, dib would get more crazed trying to stop the empire, zim and gaz would team up (or date, depends on who you asked) and stop both dib and the empire. everyone else dies and zagf/r saves the rest of earth
2 : space smoothies
In a nicktoons magazine, IZ made its āāāfinalāāā return. in which it had its first comic iteration where zim successfully took over the earth, but just kinda gives up when he sees the merch of himself. dib complains and zim offers to just have a jolly olā time in space, them both leaving earth in disarray while just being buds

3 : dookie loop
The āācanonāā ending, basically zim traps dib and the rest of the universe in a timeloop due to not being able to finish a puzzle. blah blah blah iāll rant about his reasoning for that in another post ANYWAYS,, he eventually finishes it and resigns to fixing the timeline, but the āfix timeline buttonā doesnāt work and the universe implodes, everyone dies.
4 : nothing is real
i havenāt fully pieced together the lore but this is what ive gathered
rk is god. kinda.
in their orginal universe, zim and dib are real people, dib has gone missing and zim conquered earth. the conditions are really bad till he finally gets the idea to just indoctrinate them all
rk uses the comics as a ācoping mechanismā of sorts, avoiding whatās really going on by just reading the comics, itās really the only think they can do anyways
hereās where my idea sort of splits
A : they continue reading the comics and recapping them all, imagining this fantastical world where life is just zim and dib fighting in middle school, each winning and losing occasionally. rk starts making their own comics and aus, getting more and more absorbed by the characters of zim and dib that anything other than them is incredibly distressing

they get so sucked into their own mind that at this point they feel as though they ARE the creator of these characters and comics. when the story in their mind gets too off track, when itās getting to the point where it might end, they insert themselves into it and fix whatever issue there was
B : bk (brain kid) is god essentially, rk was originally from the universe as described before but was scooped up by bk at some point and put into the recap section of the comic universe, something similar to in issue 40. in the comic universe, IZ isnāt real, itās just a comic. yet rk is still able to manipulate the story and interact with the characters, when the comic is finally coming to and end they step in and just start everything over again

oh yeah in both A n B what i mean by āthe comic endingā is that earth is burning and no one wins, both zim and dib are about to die
ā¬ļø sorry if none of this made sense š iām struggling to word it correctly + still theorizing
4.5 : timetravel
Probably the most simple one, zim conquers earth, dib dies by being stupid, zim gets killed by his younger self, the end. the only reason itās ā4.5ā is due to it being specific to the timeline of that issue, as none of the other entries acknowledge it

@thecashandandrogyny hi hereās my little collection! i apologize in advance for how terrible the photo quality is and for how long this post is going to be
starting off with stereosšš

THIS assholeā¦ā¦i got it for 50 bucks at a garage sale & for breakfast it chewed on my copy of london calling on tape. the only part of it that hasnāt fucked up so far is the cd player which is pretty much all iām using it for at the moment. wise advice from the guy who runs the local phys media music & records store: never buy a stereo/walkman/whatever if the brand is someoneās name. for the meantime itās a shelf for my vinyls and hat collection

next is her. the cd player doesnāt work quite right (skips songs & butchers the quality iirc). when i was still using my momās old stereo as my main one iād use this little sony to fast forward and rewind tapes, since those buttons didnāt work on my momās. itās kind of just sitting there on my floor now !

to be honest i havenāt used this one yet but! sheās pretty & looks brand new. i think it was like $12 at a thrift store. score

the shitty ass photo doesnāt do this one justice itās so cool looking in real life!!! it only plays tapes but it plays them well and itās actually really small & very lightweight. i wish it ran on batteries too instead of cord only but oh well. i fucking love sanyoās old music products
now my discmansā¦..

the two on the right iāve had for a while and work beautifully. i usually only bring the sony out and about with me because it actually fits in most pockets and bags. the jvc is such an unfortunate shape that itās pretty much impossible to bring anywhere. sad! & the one on the left i got last weekend at a garage sale. it works fine itās just super fucking dirty and i gotta clean it still
e walkmans

the first one i ever got & my favourite & the oldest out of all of mine (1982). but i donāt think that even needs to be said because the sheer size of it gives away its age. compared to my hand itās massive LOL my only gripe with her is the audio quality⦠it kind of sounds like youāre trying to listen to a stereo on middle volume while its like 30 feet away from you. thereās nothing wrong with it though its just wear and tear! i got it at a value village with the case and all + the leather straps attached to it are so you can carry it like a purse but i donāt dare try and hold it like that out of fear of the straps breaking

this one is somewhere in the mid 90s range + the second one i ever got + my second favourite! itās waterproof and pretty much built for running with so itās the one i usually bring with me out in public! like most of the walkmans i have it has a belt clip on the back (unlike the previous one where the belt loop is a part of the vinyl case) (i have to literally remove my belt to take that thing off which is a little embarrassing to do in heavily populated areas)

i originally got one of a very similar model at a thrift store but there was something wrong with it that made it so you could hear this clicking sound every time youād play a tape. you could hear it even if the volume was way up so i passed it on to a friend of mine who liked the clicking sound and was in desperate need of a walkman. then i found this one on ebay for around the same price & it was in the box which was cool! nothing really special to say about itā¦ā¦.and i do have the headphones pictured on the box

and this is my most recent score!! ft dookie by green day. i got it at a local vintage shop. itās old enough that it doesnāt have a rewind button which is kind of neat
now kind of miscellaneous stuff i have laying around!

radio headphones LOL. same story as that one sanyo up above: found og at a thrift store, and maybe might have broken it by accidentally leaving it in my bag for too long aand it got crushed by my books. it still worked, the plastic just broke so it didnāt quite sit right on your head & was uncomfortable to wear. a friend of mine willingly asked for them and then i found this pair (same exact model) on ebay and got it for like $15 cause i really liked the old one

these are kind of cool!!! if your car has a cassette player and you want to listen to a cd, you can put that tape into the player and connect the cord to a discman/cd player and itāll play! vice versa for the other one: if your car has a cd player but you wanna listen to a tape, you plug that into the electric cigarette lighter and the cord into a walkman/tape player. these would be twice as awesome if i actually had a car. Lol

then this little portable radio! itās kind of fun to walk around the house seeing where the signal cuts out & where it gets stronger. the metal antenna actually gets massive when you fully extend it

these are cool too!!! not pictured is the plastic piece that goes between them but i do have it (you can kind of see it behind the portable radio in the last pic). you put your walkman in the plastic piece and connect it to the speakers and it basically turns your walkman into a custom little stereo

and last but not least my dadās walmart brand mp3 player he gave to me. it has a shit ton of faith no more, david bowie, and glenn danzig songs on it and it doesnāt stay alive for more than 30 seconds if itās not plugged in
anyway thatās all iāve got at the moment thank you for giving me the opportunity to talk about them!!!!
#truly my prides and joys#i think iāll give this post a tag for future reference#šæ#also unless otherwise stated like the ones i got off ebay every one of these i got secondhand!

ayowhatsupbro my head feels like a pressure cooker BUT im expanding on another post i made a while back but like.
isnt it sad that zim is doomed to be miserable forever???
thiunk about it. his tallest have abandoned him. he does care for gir as one would a child but gir isnt his child, hed never going to grow up and zim wont get real deep compainonship out of him. zim and gir have something special that is undeniable but yk you wouldnt have deep conversations about your past and where you came from with ur 3 year old ykykykyk. and even if u did ur 3 year old would just wanna watch cocomelon and not have any input
where am i going with this? oh yeha
dib will grow up. hes going to grow up and watch his sister grow up and hes going to have a life. either with zim or without, dib will grow and change and HAS!!!! in the show, membrane was a fuckin abusive pos to dib but in the movie and comics hes mellowed out!!!!! he still kinda sucks and i still dont like him as a character but i can acknowlege his character mellowed out in the comics. h e got softer and dib has... a little more happiness. just a little. gaz even got mellowed in the movie . its not fair!!!
dibs life will change, has changed. will continue to change. is changing.
zim's is not
he is in the same position as he was
gir did not get any smarter or like him any more. for all we know, his feelings from gir goes crazy abd stuff are still canon. he might still hate zim.
his computer is apathetic beyond apathetic
his tallest still hate him and judging by their lack of appearance in the comic , stopped Fucking calling him or accepting his calls or anything
and is he happy??? is he?? will he ever be????
no. he wont be. be cause the whole crew things zim is incapable of change
and DONT say dookie loop horror because he was happy TO A POINT but then he decided to end his time in the time loop and but it didnt work and who kNOWS how he feels from there????????????????????????????????????
anyway i love zim. id treat him right and fuck it. hjed treat me right. im unhinged enough for him to like me. we could make it work

Remember when The Dookie Loop Horror came out, and like 30 people in the fandom freaked out because they thought Zim and Dib were going to die at the end, and this one YT channel posted about it, so I went to the comic shop that weekend and bought it, and it was just the dookie loop, so I helped relieved the fandom?
Good timesā¦

#invader zim#iz comics#from the cover alone everyone thought they were going to die#and I was like dude they are the MAIN CHARACTERS#but it is Jhonen#so#iz

My Green Day Screed
After I got home from the concert last night I couldnāt sleep. I guess adrenaline was pumping through my body and I couldnāt quite relax enough to fall asleep. I just kept running Green Day songs through my head, but it was mostly the newer stuff from Revolution Radio that continued on a loop in the brain. I suppose I just didnāt want to admit that the concert was over. Iāve listened to Green Day all day and Iām probably going to watch Awesome as F**K and Heart Like a Hand Grenade tonight. I just...love this band?
Iām ancient. Dookie came out when I was in high school, so I was sort of aware of them but I didnāt become a fan until Warning. Just something about the collection of songs on that album helped me not do some very stupid things that mightāve screwed up my life forever. Hold On is probably my anthem. Then American Idiot came along and blew my mind and made me a die hard fan for life. It resonated with me (leaving Hawaiāi for California and an unsure future, like the narrative of the album) plus the bandās growing political stance also resonated. Bush II was horrible and the Iraq War was a debacle and both American Idiot and 21st Century Breakdown looked at the cost of the war and its aftermath on young people.
I was so obsessed with American Idiot that I began to follow the development of the American Idiot musical at the Berkeley Rep. I saw that production twice, and while I was never able to make it to New York to watch the Broadway version, I saw the touring production of the musical twice as well. American Idiot is just embedded in my psyche at this point.Ā
Iāve wanted to see them live since at least American Idiot, but circumstances just kept getting in the way. Finally, the band was going to start touring in support of the Trilogy albums and I got tickets. It was my first time seeing them so I decided to get tickets to their Vegas gig. I was going to pull out all the stops. This was the first time Iād be seeing Green Day and I wanted it to be special. I had already booked a hotel and was looking at flights (and contemplating an epic road trip if flights were too expensive), only to run into another problem: Billie Joeās public breakdown at the iHeartRadio festival and his subsequent rehab. That Vegas concert was canceled and I was heartbroken, but I understood that he needed to get better and that was much more important than me seeing them live. I thought, thereās gonna be a next time.
Cut to 4 years later and Revolution Radio. The new album came out last year and I was determined to get tickets. I was ready to move heaven and earth to get them. If I had to fly out somewhere, Iād do it. I stared at my fan club newsletters and kept my fingers crossed for a presale. Then came the tour announcement and the list of venues. Oakland, CA. I could get to the Oakland Coliseum in half an hour on the train instead of an epic road trip.Ā
And the concert was everything Iād ever wanted, even though I spent most of the day with my stomach in knots because I was anxious as all heck that something was going to go wrong, that we wouldnāt be able to get parking at the BART station, that weād miss the train, that weād miss our transfer, that we couldnāt get to our seats, etc. But everything went quite smoothly, thank goodness. My worry was unfounded. We made it to the arena without incident. Like I mentioned on another post, I was very nearly in tears most of the night, just not believing that I was there, sharing the same space as tens of thousands of Green Day fans, sharing the same experience as them, watching the band play their hearts out. Even the members of the crowd that they chose to play and sing with them were great. Young woman who sang Longview: you had some moves, girl.Ā
It was just a greatly positive experience. Billie Joe continually brought up the idea ofĀ āhomeā and he did seem happy and grateful to be playing for a Bay Area crowd, mentioning the Bay Areaās progressiveness and always being ahead of the curve. He even led the crowd on aĀ āNo racism, no sexism, no homophobia, and NO DONALD TRUMPā chant. He always wears his heart on his sleeve. I admire his absolute candor. No matter what, heās always been true to himself and his ideals.Ā
Iām such a dork. I just realized that my second most popular post on this hellsite is my gifset of Fall Out Boy inducting Green Day into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. I donāt know. Itās a silly thing to even mention, but Iām mentioning it anyway?Ā
Iām not even sure how to end this. Iām grateful Green Day is still around and still making relevant music. Iām grateful that they were around when I was at a low point in my life and Iām grateful that theyāre still kicking and still acting silly and dorky. Their Instagram posts give me life. Those Muppet videos especially. Holy crap. I donāt know who gave the puppets to the band (or if they were commissioned) but thank you so much. Those videos say thatĀ no matter how old you are, you should never lose your sense of humor in yourself. Theyāre the perfect pick me up when Iām feeling low.
I just...I really love Green Day alright?
#these things i think#green day#they were there for me when i needed them#not literally#but that's the essence of music right?

Listen To The Entire Big Sounds Of The Drags 2001 Album Here, Free! ā Crank It Up!
Fun fact to know and share. The first piece of drag racing journalism I ever had published outside of the New England Dragway newspaper was a piece I wrote about pro mods for Nitronic Research. While that site is long gone, the spirit and ethos of the place still lives strong among lovers of the sport. It was a wild, raucous place where the opinions flowed freely and boy were there lots of them. The guy who created the place and the guy who tried to keep the monkeys from flinging too much dookie at each other in the cage was Cole Coonce. Undoubtedly you have read some of his writings on drag racing, land speed racing, or life in general in either his books or the myriad of magazines that have carried his stuff over the years.
Back in 2001 Coonce released an album called āBig Sounds Of the Drags 2001ā. Carrying on in the great tradition of the 1960s āBig Soundsā albums that covered drag races, road races, and other events, this is a truly awesome thing to listen to. Thereās lots of natural racing audio, interviews with people like Dean Skuza, and so much more weāre not going to give it all away. Coonce put a lot of work into this thing and I bought a copy when I was a junior in college. I used to annoy the hell out of my roommates and neighbors by listening to the thing on loop while doing my homework. It was awesome.
Anyway, I had totally forgotten that Coonce has released the entire 37-track album on SoundCloud and you can listen to it all, track-by-track, below at the link. Words have never done sounds justice and mine wonāt do any better but I can only implore you to give it a listen because it is so cool. Youāll hear guys like Bob Fry working races, guys like Jon Lundberg working races, funny stuff, scary stuff, and it is theater of the mind to the best possible degree.
This album didnāt change my life per se but what it did do was provide an already active mind even more fodder to dream when listening to it. Thank Coleā¦and thanks for sharing this work freely with the world.

Please don't explode. You've got an awesome blog and I especially love the Green Day music posts. All though I'm a little sad that Basket Case did not work for me. =\
Listen to Dookie all the way through. Also Insomniac. Billie Joe wrote a lot about the mental shit that he was going through on those albums⦠Iāve literally had them on loop for the whole week; theyāre really helping me. It could also be that they remind me of being a kid and things were good but ya. American Idiot is good to listen to when I wanna feel better and think about other stuff too. I hope you feel better.

What do Tupac, NWA, Green Day, The Beastie Boys, and Boston all have in common?Ā
Itās almost 2019 and only 4 of them are in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. I have sat on this for a long time (no pun intended but Iāll take it), but reading the recently released list of the 2019 inductees https://www.rockhall.com/rock-roll-hall-fame-announces-nominees-2019-induction, I am officially past my limit.Ā
What. The. Hell.Ā
The reasoning behind this is that Boston has such a small body of work, a total of just six studio albums, and thatās somehow the leading factor. āThey just didnāt make much musicā. I graduated with a degree in Strategic Communications, basically a PR degree, but I started in Pre-Law. So, let me go old-school and formulate an argument, because I cannot understand this to save my life.Ā
Boston has sold a measly 76 Million albums worldwide, 31 Million in the US. That means they have more albums sold than Journey, The Police, and Aretha Franklin - all current members, btw. But, I digress. Ā
Letās say that weāre keeping Boston out of the voting because of their short body of work. I will leave FIVE of their six albums out of this. Thatās right, letās look just at their 1976 release,Ā āBostonā for just a second. That ONE album is number 15 - no, you did not misread that - NUMBER FUCKING FIFTEEN on the all-time album sales list, as in all of forever and everyone that has ever made music in the history of humankind. That album had just eight songs, so if we take just half of that one album - More Than a Feeling, Peace of Mind, Foreplay/Long Time, and Rock and Roll Band - you will find three songs that made it into the ever-coveted the Top 40. The album stayed on the charts for 132 weeks. If you suck at math, thatās 2-1/2 YEARS. Am just curious, who was the first band ever to debut at Madison Square Garden? Oh, yeah. It was Boston, because of that ONE album. Because of that one album in a total of six which is too small a body of work.Ā
So yeah, letās rule them out because their body of work is so small. I mean, is just one album, right?Ā
Except a Top-5 hit in Donāt Look Back, several Top-50 hits over the next few years, a throw-away album a decade later which produced a meaningless #1 hit (Amanda), a mediocre-at-best Top-10 hit which everyone who makes music apparently manages to do (Weāre Ready), and a squeaker into the Top-30 that weāre not even remotely going to talk about. Because those were different albums. I said one.Ā
So, thereās that, but can we focus for one moment on what weāre actually talking about here? Weāre not talking about the most album sales of all time, because letās face it, as of 2018Ā āThe Bodyguardā soundtrack is #6, which still falls short of Shania freakinā Twain. But what is it that we ARE talking about? Oh, yeah, itās ROCK AND ROLL, and the supposedĀ āHall of Fameā institution that surrounds that phenonmenon.Ā
I will throw punches with you blow for blow if you can even attempt to tell me that Boston did not shape RockĀ ān Roll in the 70s and 80s, or that their influence is less important than NWA or Green Day. As a guitarist, I can take someone who has never even touched a guitar and teach them damn near every Green Day song in less than a week. And get the fuck out with any argument you can possibly give how NWA (samples? loop editing? ACTUAL SONG WRITING? anyone?) shaped RockĀ ān Roll more than Boston. I will end you. Listen to any classic rock station in any even remotely major US city for a few hours, and tell me that at least three Boston songs are not still played in heavy rotation on a frequency that rivals any classic rock band not already in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, or any other classic rock band at all. It wonāt happen, I openly challenge any bean counter.Ā
I adore Tupac, I grew up on NWA, and I played the Dookie album so many times over - I will never argue that all their contributions were unimportant to music history (to MUSIC HISTORY), but I will feed you knuckles and not feel the least bit guilty about it if you can honestly tell me they meant more to rock history as a whole than Boston has.

But if you want the #1 reason I am posting this rant? Itās this man right here. Itās Tom Scholz. Yes, heās aloof as balls. Yes, he downplays his playing ability and his contribution more than anyone over the last several decades. Yes, heās so humble as to never discredit anyone who has ever done anything at all or recorded anything on their Tascam 4-track in their momās basement. Heās a total goofball. Heās flakier than Kelloggās. Heās your stereotypical rocker toolbox.Ā
But... heās a genius. And I don't mean his engineering degree from MIT. He is a tone-chasing perfectionist. He was never satisfied with ā well enoughā. I read an interview years ago where he was recording on tape and wanted to add something extra so on a whim he reached over and pushed on the spindle of the tape as it was recording and produced a tone bend that is not possible to play as it recorded. It was just a thing to him, but became something that virtuoso musicians have chased for decades and are still unable to reproduce on an instrument. Tom Sholz was never ok with ok. And THAT is what makes Boston incredible. Tom Sholz is a tone guru who was never satisfied withĀ āwhat will sell albumsā, which may have to do with why there was only six. You know, his all-timeĀ record-setting one and the other five that werenāt just wet sneezes in a bandana but are somehow overly ignored. His music is precise, and exact, and technical, but that somehow falls within aĀ ālimited body of workā, despite the one and only one body of work as Iāve instanced here in an attempt to incite a riot being record-setting as fuck and blowing away almost all of history as recorded by mankind.
There are plenty of snubs when it comes to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, but none are as heinous as leaving Boston out. Again. Still. What the crap, world. I openly hate all of you. This so wrong that the word wrong doesnāt even remotely begin to cover how wrong it is. Boston belongs in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.Ā

I was just reading "through dookie loop horror"and this might have appeared in the other comics but idk,why is tak here?what is happening to her?and why is she imprisoned I hope you know this because I find that intresting, and she's at moo ping 10 because those are the guards? I need a explanation please
Fun fact: Tak was also supposed to be in Moo-Ping-10 in the movie, which was why her ship was so willing to go there, but an animation error stopped us from seeing her.
As for why sheās here, I donāt have a completely solid answer, especially since Moo-Ping-10 is a privately owned prison that can take in prisoners for a variety of reasons, ranging from legitimate crimes and arrests to people paying to keep them there.
Something to think about though is that Tak may have ended up here on purpose. After all, theyāre a drone thatās considered properly of the empire that abandoned their post on Dirt, ie: committed a defective act. If they werenāt locked up in Moo-Ping-10, theyād be handed over to the Empire, given a trial, and deleted.
So Tak may or may not have gotten themselves locked up in Moo-Ping-10 for fear of the alternative, and if she didnāt get herself imprisoned on purpose, itās definitely in her best interests to stay for now. At least until her ship comes to get her. But thatās just a theory.
#invader zim#asks#Tak#sheās probably on trial for something#possibly the owners of Moo-Ping-10 debating over if they should hand her over to the Empire or keep her imprisoned with them#comic spoilers
