The Mariana Trench: Earth’s Deepest and Most Mysterious Place
Introduction The Mariana Trench, located in the western Pacific Ocean, is the deepest known part of the world’s oceans. Stretching about 2,550 kilometers (1,580 miles) long and over 69 kilometers (43 miles) wide, this undersea chasm reaches depths of 10,994 meters (36,070 feet) at its lowest known point—the Challenger Deep. To put this into perspective: If Mount Everest (8,849 meters/29,032…

you know those extended elemental charts that go like fire, water, earth, air, light, darkness, etc. and always throw in something that's technically already covered by the others, like ice (water) or metal (earth) or isn't technically an "element" but sounds cool (mind, soul, time). well i think that flesh should count as its own distinct element in this configuration too.

I SAW A PLATYPUS TODAY!!!!!! very exciting. it's such a magnificent creature. i saw it slap a crayfish off its spot and then the platypus itself struggled to crawl onto a log and just flopped back into the water. unfortunately i have no footage of that. it was also impossible to take still pictures, these are my best attempts:

Old sketches of Love will find you (this is a threat)
Never thought I’d ever see Itarin in a fic. But yk what? Hell yeah. Girl’s got a type
Kinda admire the dedication of the author for making Rin and Sasuke meet, bc they’re pretty much aligning every star out there to make that happen lol. With Rin being married to Itachi and pregnant with their first child (making Sasuke an uncle (?!) That’s gonna be funny when he finds that out) and being Orochimaru’s student as well (AND being buddies with team Taka), it’s pretty much confirmed that they’re going to talk AT THE VERY LEAST once.

I came to the realization that in my life/internet feed STP could be used as an initialization of Slay the Princess, Sir Terry Pratchet, or Standard Temperature and Pressure, and that the context of the location of the initialization is not necessarily a guarantee of which one is being discussed

Hey y'all! In August I started two jobs and I've been so busy I haven't been bored enough to daydream about fic let alone write it. One of the jobs is a long term substitute position. I do not have a teaching degree. I do not know what I am doing. It is very stressful. These kids are just staring at me every morning and I have to be the one to like...have things for them to do. And so I just "yes and" riff about some worksheets best I can and hope they pass their state tests come April. Like, I'm really just some guy off the street they hired last minute. It's so bad.
However, I have a lil something I wrote before all that sooooooooo...
Simon POV, past (age 15):
Balanced footsteps approach, clicking in even purposeful tones that threaten Baz, Baz, Baz. His shadow appears first. Long and lean. Dark and brooding. Mocking me as it flickers against the walls because even the mere imitation of Baz swarms with condescension. A few steps above me, always looking down.
Thank you to everyone who has been tagging me. I'm sorry I've been so ass at interacting with your posts.

Pressure and temperature record broken for sCO₂ materials testing
Southwest Research Institute (SwRI) has achieved a significant milestone, reaching new temperature records for testing materials in high-pressure environments. While conducting material testing for a high-pressure, high-temperature supercritical carbon dioxide (sCO2) turbine, SwRI achieved unprecedented conditions of 1,150 degrees Celsius (2,100 degrees Fahrenheit) at 300 bar (4,350 psi). These are the highest published temperature and pressure conditions ever reached in sCO2 materials testing. In 2020, began to design an sCO2 oxy-fuel turbine for a direct-fired sCO2 power plant. The project, led by Senior Research Engineer Michael Marshall and Institute Engineer Dr. Jeff Moore, required materials testing in extreme sCO2 environments. "We evaluated turbine materials at constant temperatures and pressures with 100% sCO2. We assessed the performance of different materials and coatings under extreme conditions," said SwRI's Dr. Florent Bocher, who oversaw materials engineering for the project.

I know you should never bother reading youtube comments but sometimes I can't help myself
There's still morons out there thinking they're so clever when they ask 'How can Sam survive that landing with no super serum, his bones would crumble uugh I'm so smart blah blah blah' yet don't bat an eye at Bucky's equally nonsensical physics defying car-deflection via arm and car flip with a cable.
Be serious. Superhero mechanics have never made sense but the double standard is so obvious.
No one ever cared when Sam kicked a helicopter outta the way in Civil War (love that btw 🥰), but now that he's Cap there all this 'well actually' nonsense going down.
There's guys out there really thinking that a serum that makes you peak human (HUMAN!) strength and a metal arm makes you immune to basic momentum and inertia 🤣😂🤣😂 please

something that always helps me whenever i am feeling unmotivated or resentful towards my studies (mostly because of the toxicity surrounding the competitive nature of the exams i am preparing for) is pausing for a sec and wondering how exactly the particular concept came to be in front of me. how many nights did the Curies spend awake discussing the whys and hows of radioactivity? how exactly did Henry and Raoult think of solvents exerting pressure differently in different cases? did Franklin have to worry about fighting patriarchy besides working on her discovery? did Stefan/Boltzmann ever know we'd be able to calculate the temperature of the Sun? did they know their passion and their love for their respective subjects would be influencing millions of lives down the road? did they? and so i take another breath, mutter a thank you w my head up and continue.

Heya doc , my nose is bleedin' (for the fourth time ever) any advice man?
- the bite of 87
you all like to send me such time sensitive questions....
firstly, stay calm, its not the end of the world. dont tilt your head back, because youre not going to want blood running down your throat and into your stomach (thats a very easy way to become nauseous), instead youll want to tilt your head forward or lean forward and gently pinch the bridge of your nose and apply pressure there for about 5-10 minutes. repeat this as necessary until it stops but it will most likely work the first time. and i assume most people dont want blood running down their faces and onto their clothes or floor so you can stop that with a tissue or paper towel or whatever else. and, the obligatory 'if you cant get it to stop after 20+ minutes consider seeking medical attention' as usual.

Taking the Temperature of Earth’s Core
By measuring the melting temperature of iron under high transient pressure, researchers set a limit on the temperature at the boundary between the inner and outer cores. [...] Understanding Earth’s dynamo and other internal processes depends on knowing how iron—the main constituent of Earth’s core—behaves under high pressures and temperatures. Researchers have mapped parts of the relevant pressure–temperature phase diagram using a mixture of theory and experiment, but since the most extreme conditions can be produced in the lab only fleetingly (if at all), large gaps and uncertainties remain. Now Sofia Balugani at the European Synchrotron Radiation Facility in France and colleagues have subjected a sample of pure iron to a pressure of 270 gigapascals (GPa)—close to the 330 GPa at the boundary of Earth’s inner core—and measured its temperature as it melted [1]. Given that the iron in the core is mixed with nickel and other elements, which lower its melting point, the result sets an upper limit on the temperature at the boundary between the solid inner core and the liquid outer core.
