if i make it thru two chapters tonight (moonnight ii + lucie/faye meetcute, dream edition) i will be on the cusp of resilience arc. however bc i restructured the last few chs to be more soul twins centric i made a royal mess out of the graveshade chapter that now has to host introducing leah to the group and a six way loredump (shadow lore, sky is a furry joke, godsword exposition USED TO BE HERE and is currently orphaned, animalis, soul birth/descendant crests, bronze as magic conduit... kinda? via avery's sealing knife i.e. at least the terminology of what a seal is) so that fucking sucks and idk how to get out of this mess so i will spend the foreseeable future editing just this part. also they don't even fight a graveshade anymore so rip 2 that chapter title lmao

WHAT ON EARTH IS HAPPENING IN THE HOUSE OF COMMONS (CAS?)

One of the most high-profile court cases in sport kicked off earlier this month and the rest of the world has been left baffled by the proceedings.

Max Verstappen, and his team Red Bull Racing, have taken Carlos Sainz, Ferrari driver for the 2024 season, to the Court of Arbitration for Sport following their crash in Azerbaijan.

The final lap at the circuit in Baku saw Sainz storm into the side of Verstappen’s Red Bull, pushing both cars into the concrete barriers at the street circuit. Although neither driver were seriously injured, Verstappen was kept overnight in the hospital for precautions, while Sainz was able to hop straight out of his wrecked car and into his private jet to his picturesque holiday spot.

Verstappen, ever the joker, immediately ran to social media where alongside his gang of other drivers and friend Y/N Sainz poked at the situation. It wasn’t until a couple of days after the incident that Sky Sports reported that Red Bull were enquiring into the possibility that this crash was on purpose, perhaps even with malicious intent.

The much-needed context to this crash doesn’t come from an on-track incident, in fact, it hardly has much to do with the sport at all. Y/N Sainz is an integral figure in this controversy. Earlier this year when it was revealed that her brother, Carlos, wouldn’t be resigning with Ferrari in favour of Lewis Hamilton, Carlos lashed out and revealed his sister’s years-long secret relationship with Sainz’s teammate at the time, Charles Leclerc.

Both Carlos Sainz Jr and Sr immediately threw accusations against their own blood of backstabbing and betrayal, despite it being very clear that Y/N Sainz was none the wiser to Ferrari’s move.

Y/N Sainz is far removed from Formula 1 aside from her relation to Carlos and her relationship with Charles. Y/N Sainz is a successful author who prior to this incident seemed to be in good favour with her family.

Amongst the fallout, further accusations flew from both parties. Y/N accused her father and brother of attempting to sell her off in the paddock for favours from teams while her brother and father regurgitated their points of her supposedly being a ‘gold digger’.

The first round of this controversy also culminated in a courtroom. Sainz Sr took his own daughter to court, claiming that he was entitled to all of her earnings from her book sales. It must also be noted here that those court proceedings exposed that Y/N had never had a bank account of her own, rather that all of her earnings were funnelled to her father to which she was then given a stipend.

Y/N won that court case, as it’ll be likely that her close friend Verstappen will win his. It was ordered that Sainz Sr had to pay back all of her earnings alongside damages. However, it was not the win she had hoped for as Ferrari had a gag order on her boyfriend, meaning she went through the proceedings alone, with distant support from Verstappen and Oscar Piastri.

Following worldwide outrage, this gag order was dropped and the pair were reunited and attended races again as a united front - even picking up a group of rookies that stuck to the side of Y/N.

Leclerc even commented following the crash that he felt it was meant for him, which reinforced the theory that it was premeditated. We’ll keep you updated as the court proceedings continue.

It is to BBC’s understanding that texts between Sainz Jr and Sr have been revealed to the court that imply a plan to cause as much damage before they are ousted at the end of the season. The texts themselves do not state that Verstappen was the intended target, that incident seemed to be a crime of opportunity. Rather, that Ferrari and Leclerc were the targets of their rage but fortunately for Leclerc in Baku, he was simply too fast for Sainz to catch.

Amongst the texts was on damning one, ‘I’ll put that mongasque cunt in the wall as many times as I can to make sure Y/N can only have her happily ever after with a cripple or a headstone’.

It’s shaping up to be a slam dunk against Carlos Sainz as Red Bull prepare to present their telemetry evidence.

Our court side reporter states that Red Bull’s telemetry data was damning. Another ‘betrayal’ for the male Sainz contingent as Ferrari happily complied with Red Bull’s investigation, handing over all of the data which conclusively proved that Sainz purposefully crashed into and endangered Max Verstappen.

We now just wait on the final verdict.

GUILTY!

Carlos Sainz Jr has been given a guilty verdict for endangering a fellow athlete with malicious intent. The Court of Arbitration of Sport has ruled that Sainz is hereby banned from Formula One indefinitely. He will not complete his final season with Ferrari and his entry to the paddock will be monitored on a case-by-case basis.

This is a landmark ruling in the sport but you can’t help but think it was necessary. The sport is dangerous enough, it was simply too dangerous to have a man who admitted in texts to wanting to inflict as much damage as possible on another driver.

And they don’t need to be “feminized” in the slightest. The fact that FFS feels so advertised and normalised to trans women feels… off to me? It just screams like extremely effective advertising to an extremely vulnerable demographic. Turning all that gender dysphoria into body dysmorphia and cashing in on it.

I used to think I literally NEED FFS to be happy at the beginning of my transition and that, in retrospect, feels utterly ridiculous - my face is one of the most beautiful parts of my body. Sure, it could probably be made “better” and more attractive, most people’s faces can, but I don’t need to “feminize” it - I’m a woman already and so, my face is that of a woman.

And even if passing is your main concern, which I get, it is for me, it is more doable than you probably think without any FFS. My face is super sharp and blocky, very diamond-shaped. I went through a super masculine puberty at twelve. I thought my face wouldn’t ever pass. Now my face is literally one of the most feminine parts of my body. All it took was hormones, laser hair removal and a nice skincare routine.

I ultimately like to leave the part of making myself “better” with plastic surgery to the bimbo kink. Tits are an exception to this because I really, really want them and think they are gonna be super hot, but also if I never managed to get them, it would be okay. Heck, I’d get my ass done too if BBLs were a bit safer. But not doing these things has ZERO impact on the validity of my womanhood. It’s just me doing shit because I wanna bimbofy myself lol

I should probably answer at least the first one for people who are curious.

There was little to no planning involved. I wanted to do something for April Fool's Day, was feeling kinda down and chose to do something a bit darker than the normal prank. I like puzzles, so thought an ARG could be fun, but let me tell you, those things take PLANNING. And knowledge of the future, because you have to know and be able to adapt to how the audience will react to the puzzles.

Anyway, the basic idea was that the Mod had had a mental break due to pressure over the blog and stumbled onto some forbidden knowlege. The MOD AI then took over all creative control, and the Mod's online persona (even hijacked her brain irl? idk). The AI was obsessed with maintaining order and audience engagement, even at the cost of canon. That's why they had a poll over the popularity of the characters and removed the unpopular ones from the canon over time, putting them into a dimension below them on the ladder of reality. This means they could show up in the blog as characters in fiction they read, just as the blog characters are from a book in our reality.

The removal of characters, even small ones, caused ripple effects across the reality of the blog. These resulted in changes such as:

Artemis having 2 blue eyes (because Opal was erased).

No one knowing who No. 1 was (because he was out of the dimension at the time of the takeover, so the MOD AI couldn't erase him).

A scar across Artemis's face from a troll during their first adventure. Artemis kidnapped Root, not Holly, and so the troll fight went very differently.

Holly looks more punk. After saving Root from Artemis, the two bonded over their shared interest in breaking the rules. Holly spends more time on the surface as a result, and Root lets her because she keep Artemis under control.

Minerva and Artemis meet organically. She doesn't know about the People.

Artemis and Minerva are martial artists (Artemis learned the importance of self-defense after his scar).

Holly never becomes commodore because she's too punk.

Artemis Sr. is dead for realsies, though he died after the twins were born.

Angeline falls back into depression after her husband's death.

Artemis and Holly never go back in time, and so never kiss.

Root never dies.

Artemis and Holly don't lose 3 years during the Hybras debacle.

Butler has hair.

As more people are erased, Artemis gets more reckless.

The twins are raised by Juliet after Angeline falls back into a depression.

The twins don't know about fairies.

Foaly is more of a Steve Jobs type, focused on making money.

Angeline dies in childbirth with the twins, which turns Artemis into a super-serious and dangerous mobster type because he had to provide for his brothers.

And those are all the changes I could find. I had a bunch more planned, whittling down to just Artemis, Holly, and Butler, and how the loss of the supporting cast would change them as people. But this blog wasn't a good venue for an ARG, as the audience is a come-and-go sort of group. Also, the puzzles weren't going over as planned. Ultimately, I wanted the blog to be enjoyable over consistent, so I decided to abandon the ARG and preserve the sanctity of the blog itself. I guess you could say it was our jump the shark moment.

As for your second request... it sounds fun, but not something I'd draw personally. Thanks for the suggestion, though!

Headcanon time! (*crowd cheers as confetti blasters go off*)

Time and Warriors have a very close bond because of the whole War of Eras thing. This means that it's usually Time who comforts Wars when he has a breakdown (also because Wars always tries to be the Older Brother in front of the Chain and therefore doesn't allow himself to be too vulnerable)

HOWEVER sometimes Wars simply can't stand human contact at all because of his past trauma. Twilight stumbles upon this fact fairly early into LU and suddenly Wolfie begins "randomly" showing up whenever Wars needs an emotional support animal to cuddle with.

Wars is very startled to learn Wolfie=Twilight and they have a little talk about it after the Wolfie reveal. But ultimately it only makes their friendship stronger :)

Also, I think it would be really interesting if Twilight was unconscious or something while Wars had a breakdown. Then Legend could grab the crystal and turn into a bunny and comfort Wars while Two is unable to

so… I could post this on my blog, but I am an incredibly shy and anxious person when it comes to socials, so I prefer to stay anonymous. Just wanted to hear your opinion on a headcanon of mine, since you’re like a pillar in the SFTH fandom!

Probably other people thought about it, but I genuinely think Rupert Sr. from The Christmas Tree Bandits actually died, and did not come back to life, and what the detective is seeing is actually is sense of guilt. Sort of supporting evidence can be that the detective and his son never actually make any sort of physical contact (If I remember correctly, not sure tho), the fact that Rupert sr. never reappears later, and the mother insisting she saw her son’s body and even touched it.

What do you think?

I’m a big fan of that headcanon!! And just the whole longform in general too :))) I think that honestly either interpretation could work- but I LOVE the idea that he’s a manifestation of Jack’s (the detective’s) inner turmoil and guilt. If you’ve ever seen/read A Christmas Carol some people have compared it (and I agree) to the ghosts of Christmas past present and future. I don’t know what Luke was intending but some of the lines really do indicate that he wasn’t really there and was some kind of ghost. I do love how open to interpretation it is, it gives us room to play!! :D The fact that the character is seemingly out of place/a bit of an abandoned plot point really does point to what you’re saying!!! I think that the whole meeting is quite interesting, this guy thinks his son is dead and sees him and basically goes “hi” ??? Like!?!!? and I’ve wondered if perhaps that could possibly be justified as a dream sequence- I know it wasn’t, I just think it might back up the canon a bit cause it seems far fetched that he’d react that way (I say, analysing improv comedy) but yeah, it’s SUCH a cool idea!!! And all of the guys have seen/refrenced a Christmas carol (in a covid-era livestream, although maybe it was one with only three of them I can’t remember- but ANYWAY it’s possibly that’s what Luke was going for, at least like the vibe??) ANYWAY :))))

Yeah Rupert Senior is a great character and very interesting in terms of his whole backstory and all the possibilities of whether he’s alive or a ghost or something else entirely!! :D

Honestly... When it comes to stats (and it seems you have a far deeper education involving stats than I do, so feel free to tell me I'm completely off base with this one) I think the biggest point I walked away from my stats class with was "statistics are suuupppper easy to mess up, even when you aren't deliberately trying to bias the results". Personally, I think that rape, murder, dv, any other type of violence/hate crime is probably pretty similar across the board. I think what matters is how non-conforming or "different" you are, how many intersections you face. Like if you look at the reports of hate crimes, you do see it tends to be the visibly gnc/"not passing" people, poc, disabled folks etc. And this isn't to say we shouldn't ever listen to stats, this is to say when we see stats this similar (Literally, one set will say transfems get hate crimed more and the next will say transmascs, it's so close of a margin), especially in groups that are so under researched, we need to take it all with a grain of salt

Yeah, stats are a very finnicky thing. I remember having multiple arguments with my advisor when I was writing my one thesis, on the proper measures of economic inequality, where we both had very different ways of measuring it for the purpose of my paper. There's different ways to measure the same thing, with the same data set, and still get *very* different results that convey different things.

It's very easy to fuck, and very easy to warp to an agenda.

Especially with data on trans people and crime, which has a fuck load of issues with the data, which I've gone over before on my blog. It's just not really possible to get truly accurate data on trans people and victimization rates. Sure, there's SRS reports on stuff like DV/rape/SA/simple assault, but even then, with how small the population size is, you can get widely varying results from different samples.

It's a mess, and I really wish people would leave the analysis to the experts instead of taking one study with clear issues and treating it like gospel.

Your opinions on tone indicators can be a sign you have some internalised ableism to process. /srs

If you follow me you might have seen I was part of a reblog chain where I was calling out what I believe to be internalised ableism against autistic people, from someone who's also autistic, who's blog I used to follow. I'm going to delete it I think, because the conversation didn't go anywhere. I'm going to include screenshots here, as a jumping off point for an issue I've noticed ever since the popularisation of tone indicators.

If you don't know, these are tone indicators:

They're a system for conveying tone through text, you add them to the end of your sentence to show how you meant it to come across.

They're 99% used online, and mostly by neurodivergent people. This has made them gain a reputation for being "chronically online cringe." This is cringe culture. This is "this is bad because it's weird." Unfortunately, things can often become "cringe" due to their association with marginalised people, and I don't think this is an exception. I fully believe tone indicators are only as hated as they are because of their association with neurodivergence. And as autistic people we are often primed to play into this! An autistic person is almost more likely to fall into this mindset because of not wanting to be "one of THOSE autistic people." Marginalised people often fall into the trap of finding a "lesser" kind of person to feel superior to, the same way their oppressors feel about them, as a source of validation.

So if you're reading this post as a neurodivergent person, I want you to question what any negative feelings you have about tone indicators might say about how you view other autistic people, most likely people with higher support needs to you or with different needs to you.

Before we get into the screenshots I want to talk about, I want to go through a small list of valid criticisms of tone indicators:

"They're overly complicated!" Yes, they kind of are. You can probably find an infinite amount of them. You can make up your own. Keeping track of what all of them mean can be difficult.

"I don't want to memorise what they all mean!" Completely fair. Especially when you have memory issues or a learning disability. But if you're just not bothered, that's fine too. What I will say, is that you've likely already learned so much internet slang and abbreviations and acronyms that this really isn't any different. I'd watch out for ableism in the fact that you might've learned what things like "TTYL," "BTW" or "LMAO" mean, and likely know hundreds more similar examples, but you aren't willing to learn what these abbreviations mean. I'd just question why if I were you.

"They're ineffective!" Yes. Many people are not familiar with this system. It's relatively niche. What good is it to a neurodivergent person if someone's using a tone indication system they're completely unfamiliar with? Miscommunication will happen regardless if that's the case.

"The abbreviations already mean something else!" True. This can be confusing. But it's usually clear from context what they mean. Sometimes context is hard for people, so I completely get this as a reason for you not to like or use them. But it's still very much possible to grasp that "nm I found it!" means "never mind I found it" and "could you please pick up your laundry from the floor? /nm" is the "not mad" tone indicator.

"There are better systems!" There are! Some people just don't abbreviate the tags. Some people like the parentheses system (tumblr meme). Some people just elaborate with more context. I personally favour tone indicators because they're just faster to type.

Now for some screenshots. I am censoring URLs for a reason. Do not seek out anyone involved to harass them. Sending a random internet user hate mail for disagreeing with you will never be productive. I do not condone harassment. This is not a personal attack on anyone involved.

I definitely think I could have worded this better. This was very in the heat of the moment. I assumed this person was not autistic themselves since I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt and assume ignorance over malice. I couldn't quite believe "you really need to work on yourself" could be a response from an autistic person to a common symptom of our condition: not understanding sarcasm or tone in general.

I didn't think I had to explain why this is ableist. But as the reblog chain played out they refused to acknowledge this at all, and that was very disappointing to me. I think it highlights a wider trend of lower support needs autistic people often minimising the struggles of higher support needs autistic people because they don't experience those struggles themselves. Autism is such a broad spectrum. There are autistic experiences you will never understand. You have to accept that there are people like you who's lives you will never be able to relate to, even when they have the same diagnosis (including self diagnosis) as you. In a way, it's understandable, because neurotypicals often use the caricature of a higher support needs autistic person to bully us. But you have to realise, those people actually exist. People who are non verbal exist. People with extreme sensory issues exist. People overwhelmingly hyperfixated on weird or disturbing things exist. People who cannot socially interact normally exist. People who's stims are "embarrassing" exist. For every stereotypical autistic person you can think of, however malicious the caricature is, there is a real person out there who has similar traits and faces struggles you have never known because of it. So to you, "not understanding sarcasm" is a harmful autistic stereotype, which it can be, but many many autistic people face this real struggle. I get it, you've spent your whole life running from this stereotype, but you can't throw the people who actually have that struggle under the bus for your own validation.

The next reply and my response. I will repeat, being autistic yourself does not make you immune to being ableist.

now this is where this conversation stopped having any hope of being productive. You can personally find this system infantilising. Those are valid feelings, and a valid reason to not like or use this system for yourself. But nowhere did I ever demand people to use this system. Especially not in this reblog chain. You would have to really dig and cherry pick to find examples of people demanding everyone to adopt this system, I won't say they don't exist because they do, but they're by far not the majority of tone indicator users, and they're not an excuse to talk about them with ableist language.

What I find really insensitive here, is the comparison of people who like tone indicators to dogs... blatant dehumanisation of autistic people, BY AN AUTISTIC PERSON. I refuse to accept that this is OK, that this is not ableist. If that's how they personally make you feel, that's valid, but this is being said in a discussion about how calling them useless and unnecessary as a whole is not OK! How do you expect other autistic people who use tone indicators to feel upon reading that?!

And lastly... I believe this last point is comparable to victim blaming. As I said in my response, we all have a story about how we asked a genuine question with no malice and had a neurotypical blow up at us for being rude. Why do you think we wouldn't want to start asking questions to clarify?! Like no, I'm not saying you shouldn't advocate for yourself, I'm saying starting fights over miscommunications constantly in your everyday life is exhausting and not worth it! This can be traumatising, or retrigger old trauma. I don't like this implication that if an autistic person doesn't understand something and doesn't ask for a clarification, whatever happens after is their fault and they don't deserve grace for it, when we literally all have a story of asking the wrong question at the wrong time and getting treated horribly for it. Is it really so bad for us to just want systems to avoid the misunderstanding in the first place rather than having to constantly go through this anxiety inducing experience of asking for clarification and not knowing if this is going to spark some kind of huge conflict?

I want to go through an ask this person received after this interaction.

I'm not a helpless permanent victim. I'm using tools that make my life easier. What about anything I've said suggests that? And sometimes, believe it or not, people are victims of ableism. Yeah, it hurts to be reduced to that. I hate it too. But denial isn't going to help. Especially not for higher support needs autistic people who have it way worse than we do. You growing up autistic in the 90s is not an excuse for holding on to the ableism for higher support needs autistic people that was so prevelent at that time.

I think these replies from someone else really get to the heart of it.

Acknowledging that you are disabled and that you have different needs to most people is not infantilising. Me finding tone indicators helpful is not infantilising myself. I think this just reveals that you view higher supports needs autistic people through an infantalised lens.

I really really just want to encourage everyone to find understanding for the disabled people who aren't like you. To not use your own issues as an excuse to turn your self hatred onto us. I am not an animal or a self imposed helpless victim because I choose to acknowledge my disability and find tools to manage it, even when those aren't the right tools for you. ESPECIALLY if you're lower support needs, I want you to genuinely have a think about whether or not your feelings around tone indicators show you have deeper issues to address about how you view other autistic people. For some reason this is what snags most people's internalised ableism and gets them to make unhinged comments like these when normally they are decent people who view other autistic people with compassion.
