he does seem to panic extra when you try to remove his glasses. so maybe not that. huh. odd.

▸ that being said though, this man does have taste. lex insists that since you're seen with him so often, you gotta look nice. he takes care of your wardrobe. and it gets you crazy amounts compliments.

he's very good at picking things you'd look good in which suit your personal style. he might be neglectful, manipulative, and downright cruel to you sometimes... but damn, lex is attentive.

he stands at your side, a hand on your hip. someone has complimented you again, as the both of you have become accustomed to at this point. lex clears his throat, smiling at you as if telling you, "that's your cue." "...thanks," you reply to the person, "lex got it for me."

LOIS LANE

he's more relaxed in these moments, you notice. open to being soft with you. rests his head on your shoulder. rubs the back of your hand with his thumb when your fingers are intertwined. plants kisses to your temple ocassionally. it's his favourite place to kiss :(

How do you feel about Sans “ befriending” Toriel? I know many people didn’t take too kindly to that and after Sans was found dancing with Toriel, I've heard that others were angered enough even to want to “eliminate” Sans from this mortal coil. Also, I do wonder about Vess's opinion on this as well.

I'll probably do Vess's opinion on it on the askblog, but as for me, I think it was inevitable and I think it's kind of silly?

I have a complicated relationship with Sans as a character, but separate from that, I think that many people see this interaction and see it as a sort of betrayal - which is 100% INTENDED. We are coming into Kris's home, after being worried about Toriel, finding that not only did she not contact Kris about not going to Choir practice, but that she spent the better part of the night with someone Kris does not know and clearly does not like.

The point is for it to feel out of place and stilted because it's a sudden shift, we're awkward and uncomfortable because we just got back from something emotionally distressing, and now are faced with this.

Honestly, I think Toby did a fantastic job with the scene. Sans isn't a total asshole or anything, just somewhat selfish in the moment, and Toriel is wine drunk - but it's enough to get people really disliking Sans, because man. Man.

Something I think I missed in my first playthrough (and I'm sure others didnt realize either) is that Toriel is greatly aware that Kris has a tendency to just... disappear, go off and do whatever they like. They're a teenager, and I think Toriel is trying to allow them some independence, especially after learning that Susie is their friend. ESPECIALLY Susie, who Toriel comforted that day, who she wants to have friends and is probably OVERJOYED these two lonely, sad teenagers have found each other and began spending time together. And, don't forget - it's the weekend, too. We don't know if it's typical for Kris to be out super late on weekends, we have no frame of reference.

I think Sans and Toriel are great and fun, and I think them dating and Toriel's teen child disliking Sans BECAUSE they're dating, like. It feels correct. As someone who's a kid of divorce, when both my parents started dating after the fact, I LOATHED the new people in my life for a while, holding things against them I never would have otherwise. It's a very realistic depiction, I think, and Toby did a great job integrating what Kris must have been feeling in the moment, and making the player feel it too. That's really difficult to do, and especially with such a well-loved character like Sans, it's just... fantastically written and done.

Anyway, sorry this became less about just the whole Sans + Toriel thing and more of a character analysis, this is what happens when I start getting tired and answer asks about character analysis LOLLL.

I don't hate Sans as a character, and while I think the whole "I want to kill sans" meme is funny, I'm not quite that enthused about wanting Sans out of Kris's and Toriel's life. We only see so much - for all we know, outside of those moments we see, Sans is a chill guy.

Something else to point out is it's very likely Sans was ALSO drunk during the scene, but I digress.

Sorry to drop in on forsaken lore mention with azuretime!! To give more context about that whole thing with Azure not forgiving Two Time: Toki, (Azure’s creator) was asked by fans in his discord server of his personal views/opinion on Ava’s post of “Azure didn’t feel betrayal when Two Time sacrificed him”. After she was removed from the team. He said he didn’t agree with that take and it was something Ava said without talking with him first about it, He was asked his own interpretation of the situation (which he stressed is not canon and can change but his own views on the subject at the time.) and said Azure wouldn’t forgive them, but mentioned that he still yearns the past for what they had and hates himself for still missing them. Azure’s feelings towards two time isn’t simple and more complicated than hate. You can miss someone who hurt you while also wanting to hurt them, Toki also mentioned that Azure isn’t as flawless or perfect as he seemed and has Anxiety and abandonment issues (or attachment it was one of em.) He also said despite what Two Time did, doesn’t make them a bad person, and both Azure and Two Time are people and not ‘bad’ people.

I do have screenshots of the convo and more I don’t think the wiki has what Toki talked more, about I could perhaps link a post if needed or send it but wanted to drop in and give more context on it bc u gotta be a special level of azuretime brainrotted to know this stuff so don’t feel bad!

I appreciate the information.. Seems like I've received a lot of interpretation of Azure's character recently and honestly I love how it all boils down to him generally being so complex and flawed.

Feelings are not black and white.. I completely forgot about the part where Azure isn't perfect, I have heard that from somewhere but it flew over my head. If you ask me, the way I'd characterize him is feeling angry at the cult especially, but also at Two Time ofc. Logically, maybe he knew Two Time's actions is the product of the cult. (Let's not forget that Azure is literally also in the cult, maybe he was aware of the sacrifices but never thought it'd happen to him). But that won't stop his anger regardless of their intentions. Cause in the end they chose the cult over him..

I don't think he'd pin the blame entirely on Two Time, but the Spectre's influenced messed up his thoughts and emotions and amplified it way too much. The forced emotions the Spectre gave him and the true emotions are all probably battling in his head to the point even he doesn't entirely know how to feel anymore.

Stick With You- Chapter One

Pairing: Lando Norris x Freya Daniels (original character)

Summary:

Freya Daniels and Lando Norris are childhood best friends that just happen to do almost everything together, being rarely separated.

She went to his races, tried to befriend his teammates, and tried to get along with his boss just to make his career easier for him. Just so that he wouldn’t have to worry about her while driving.

But what happens when something changes between the two of them that might be more than just friends?

Maybe some Zak Brown bashing and a small mention of death.

Freya woke up to the sound of a knock coming from the front door of her apartment, checking the time she released a groan realizing that the visitor at the door was Lando, as she stupidly promised to work out with him having not expected to stay up late the night before.

She climbed out of bed and stumbled to the door, unlocking it and smiling sleepily up at her blue eye best friend while letting him into the apartment.

"I brought you coffee sleeping beauty." Lando chuckled taking in the sight of the girl in front of him, which wasn't the prettiest.

Her hair was a mess, makeup smudged, where he could tell that she was so tired the night before that she forgot to take it off, which ironically happens a lot.

"You are a life saver Land." She says taking the coffee as it was handed out to her with a yawn while closing the door.

"Rough night?" Lando chuckled.

"I forgot about the whole promising to work out with you this morning and stayed up to late." She told him while walking to the kitchen to get breakfast started for them, seeing as Lando seemed to forget to grab them food.

"Figured you forget Lexi. You always do." He teased with a smile.

"Is it forgetting if you really realized that you fucked up?" Freya replied to him with a raised eyebrow, causing him to chuckle.

He knew she would probably find away to the get out of the work out today, because she simply couldn't bother to be active.

She liked her days to be chilling on the couch watching movies, mainly the Twitches movies as they were her favorite, which she more times than not dragged Lando into watching with her therefore getting him in trouble with his trainer.

"No, that's called pure laziness." Lando teased her.

"I'm not lazy!"

"Yes you are!"

"Am not!"

"Lexi, you called George over here two nights ago to get you a coke out of the fridge because you didn't want to walk into the kitchen." He laughed, remembering the phone call from the British driver where he complained about their friends laziness.

"In my defense there was a spider and it was gonna kill me." She countered quickly, with a straight face, knowing there wasn't actually a spider in her apartment, she just wanted to bug the Mercedes driver.

But what the two drivers didn't know was George's girlfriend was in on it because they both thought it would be hilarious to fuck with the driver.

"We both know that's bullshit Lexi." He smiled at her with a small chuckle, knowing her well enough to know when she lying and to know that this whole apartment building would be burned to the ground.

Because she was deadly afraid of two things, spiders and snakes.

"Can I trust you to not kill my boss this season?" Lando Norris found himself asking his best friend as he remembered the show down between Zak Brown and her last year after the news about Daniel broke.

He knew that her and his former Australian teammate but still friend had hit it off immediately, having shared almost the exact same energy, one that would almost leave chaos in its path.

"Depends" she shrugged nonchalantly, having no plans of even stepping foot in the Mclaren garage, having been invited into the Red Bull's garage this season.

Thanks to Christian Horner having a sweet spot for the young girl.

"On what?"

"On if he's still the backstabbing bitch he was last year."

"We've been through this Reya, he didn't stab Daniel in the back." He told her testing his luck with this topic.

A topic that appeared to be important to his best friend who knew how the Motorsports World works, nothing is guaranteed, not even life itself, and that it was a big risk that the drivers took.

She likes to tell him that he's  playing a dangerous game with death, and she couldn't be anymore right about that statement.

But he also knew that there's been safety measures taken into affect to protect the drivers.

"Bullshit Land, Zak told Daniel that they wanted to keep him as a driver, had him release a video that he was committed to Mclaren, only to announce his replacement for next season while saying it was a mutual agreement between the team and Daniel. Which mind you Daniel has come out to say he knew nothing about it."

"Okay, maybe you have a tiny point about that, but Zak honestly isn't that bad."

"A tiny point? That was a big point Lando."

"Okay, but just remember it's not Oscar's fault, so can you at least be nice to him for me? I can handle you hating Zak, done it since the beginning but I can't have you hating my teammate." He chuckled.

"I don't have a problem with him, as long as he stays in his lane then we're fine." Freya smiled at the British driver. "But he won't be my favorite Australian." She teased with a chuckle.

"Yeah yeah, I know, that's reserved for Danny." Lando said rolling his eyes playfully.

She shook her head with a chuckle while laying her head on his shoulder silently plotting ways to make the CEO's life miserable.

Which she has been secretly working on during the winter break with the one and only Christian Horner.

Who just so happens to see the girl as a daughter and also hates the version of Daniel that came back to Red Bull at the end of the season.

"Here's to a season of chaos." She mumbles quietly receiving a chuckle from her best friend.

"A formula one season without chaos wouldn't be formula one." Lando added with a laugh.

hey! i’ve been thinking a lot about how the duffers might handle byler in the next season, and i’d love to hear your take on a few things…

• how do you see mike and eleven breaking up (if it happens)?

• how do you think the duffers could realistically make byler happen while still doing the character development justice for all three of them?

• how do you personally imagine byler progressing — emotionally, narratively, romantically?

• it feels like whatever they do has to be really intentional, not just for the story but also because it would mean something politically, too.

• i can’t quite picture the “perfect” way for them to pull it off yet — the timing, the pacing, the emotional beats — but i know it can be done right.

Oh, my first question on this blog! I'm so excited! First of all, I'd like to remind you that I'm not a great theorist or anything like that, but I do have some opinions on this or that and I'll try to put them into words as best I can. Secondly, English isn't my first language, so please forgive me if there are any mistakes. But here we go.

• Regarding Mike and El's breakup, I assume it happens early in the season, probably in the first episode. I know there's a one-year time jump, but I believe there are some scenes BEFORE. I think it's pretty clear that Mike and El aren't on good terms at the end of season four, so I think the breakup will come naturally, perhaps more like "time apart to deal with everything that's going on" that progresses to a definitive breakup at some point. Let's not forget that El is SUFFERING from everything that's happening in Hawkins, with Max, Vecna, etc. I assume she feels guilty in some way, especially after discovering the truth about Vecna and Henry. She'll probably feel even more disconnected from Mike than she did in season four, but this time her priorities will be more "important" than the need for reassurance of Mike's feelings. Plus, Hopper is back, and I think he'll play a much more important role in rebuilding El's self-confidence than Mike.

• I don't think there's a magic formula for making Byler work and please the entire audience; that's not going to happen under any circumstances. Still, I think there are some things that can be done to soften the impact and bring Mike and Will's relationship into a more natural and coherent place. First of all, they have to deal with Mike and El. There's no point in introducing Byler without setting up Milkvan's end. That's why I believe the breakup (or foreshadowing of one) will happen early in the season. Second, they NEED to introduce more Byler clues, something more clear and obvious to the audience. Not big, immediate confessions, but tension, small, grand gestures, and moments where the whole scene would feel romantic or something like that. Maybe the scenes with Holly work well with the whole family feel they provide, as does Will living with the Wheelers. Third, they seemed to make Mike's POV more urgent. We know that Mike's perspective has been purposefully obstructed since season 3 and that has made him confusing and quite idiotic to the audience, so we need the audience to actually be able to see the real Mike to be able to say "oh yeah now that makes sense."

And finally, they need to make El understand herself before any major Byler developments. El is an important part of the love triangle, probably the MOST important to the audience, so her reactions need to be handled carefully. El loves Mike and Will; they're part of the family she found in Hawkins, and she wants them to be happy as much as they want her to be happy. I don't want them to make El suffer or sacrifice her own feelings for Will. That's why they need this breakup, or the foreshadowing of one, to happen immediately so that Byler's development doesn't turn El into a victim, either sacrificed or angry about the situation. I think El is a girl who has been through a LOT in her life, and she DESERVES to be complete on her own, and the only time we saw that happen was in season three during her breakup with Mike and her time with Max. Ultimately, I think the only way for Byler to happen and do justice to all three is if a breakup occurs BEFORE the time jump. El needs time to feel validated, confident, and realize that Mike is an important part of her life, but not the MOST IMPORTANT. El needs to realize that what she and Mike had was much more platonic than romantic, and she'll only realize this when they're separated on friendly terms. That's why foreshadowing a breakup would also work very well here, something like "taking a break."

Mike also needs to get himself together. He's in complete chaos and confusion with his own feelings because he loves El, he just doesn't love her the way she expects him to, and he NEEDS to understand this difference, and he'll only understand it when the shadow of his relationship with El is no longer there. And there's Will too; despite his resignation to his love for Mike, he needs to feel like he has his best friend back for Byler to truly work. Well, this issue got a lot bigger than I thought it would, but I'm really not a big fan of love triangles, especially when they're not well developed and there's always that annoying back-and-forth, betrayal, and shitty development, but I don't think that's what's happening here. The Duffers know what they're doing and they know they need to do it right for it to work for the audience, or else it will simply be a fiasco with huge wasted potential.

• Now about Byler's progression. I think Will moving in with the Wheelers is a major turning point, as is Milkvan's breakup (or foreshadowing of one) at the beginning of the season. I think we'll see the two best friends from seasons one and two again after the time jump. We'll see Mike and Will much more comfortable with each other again, but in an even more intense way. They're both teenagers now, and at least one of them is fully aware of their romantic feelings for the other. So, even though they're comfortable as best friends, there needs to be ongoing tension. Especially from Mike's point of view. Narratively, Mike's POV is more important than Will's. We already know Will loves Mike; now we need to find out if Mike loves him too. We need long looks, soft smiles, and subtle flirting like in season four, but with MORE intensity and frequency until the big confession happens. Romantically, I think Mike will be the one to make Byler happen. I've already discussed this here, and I don't see Will taking the initiative. And emotionally, they NEED to deal with Milkvan BEFORE a time jump.

The progression of events in ST after a threat is revealed usually takes three to seven days, and that's not enough time to develop Byler fairly with Milkvan. Mike won't deal with his feelings for Will, his internalized homophobia, and his girlfriend in a week. There's no way he'll be able to do that without becoming incoherent and reaffirming to the general public that Byler was just thrown in there for no reason. The audience needs to be involved and led to the conclusion with Mike, so he needs to be in the POV in the scenes, just as he needs TIME to deal with it. For me, ending before the time jump and spending time with Will at the Wheeler house would be perfect for this development.

• About ST being politicized. Well, I'm not a US resident, but I live in a country equally divided between liberals and conservatives (I'm liberal, to be clear). And I don't believe in neutral art. Taking a stand is necessary, and politicizing is necessary too. We live in a time when advances are being rolled back in alarming ways. We're seeing hordes upon hordes of young people embracing conservatism and everything it entails. We see minorities being pushed back to the margins and rights being revoked. We see that struggles can never stop, and art has always played an important role in this. Music, film, theater, painting have always been important forms of protest, albeit some more subtle than others. And ST has always been about this: about putting outcasts at the center and giving them a worthy story. Since the first season, important issues have been addressed (bullying, sexuality, depression, social pressure, racism), and I don't expect that to change now. Given the current situation in the country and the world, I REALLY hope they strip away the subtleties and expose the politicization this season. I mean, what else do they have to lose now, right?

• And regarding the perfect way for Byler to happen, my answer is: there isn't one. I believe there are things that need to happen for Byler to be coherent, but it will never be perfect overall because there's no way. There is a way to create a beautiful ending for Byler, with decent development and enough clarity to avoid feeling rushed. For that, we need Mike's POV and flashbacks, too. The only reason it's not considered a love triangle by the general public is because Mike's perspective on Will is Omitted; his true feelings are constantly hidden. We need to unravel Mike Wheeler's mind first. Regarding pacing, I think I already mentioned this above, but breakup/Byler together at the Wheeler house/time jump, and then the events of the series. And regarding how I think it would happen more coherently with the characters, I have two posts about how I think Mike will be the one to initiate the confession and how I think Mike will accept his feelings for Will at Lovers' Lake. But that's just theory and speculation. The truth is, I have no idea how it's going to play out, I just hope it's beautiful and does justice to the characters. I trust the Duffers and the writers; I think they've shown great care in handling and developing the story so far and will do a good job.

I’ve been really curious about BB’s bike—Scarlett (sorry if I spelled it wrong 😭). She honestly feels like she has a mind of her own. When BB said “Scarlett’s probably jealous of you right now,” it really made me wonder about her character. She definitely seems to care about BB in her own way, like she's protective of him. But if we don’t bother her—like when we politely say “can we borrow him?”—she seems to go easy on us. Almost like she respects that we’re not trying to come between them. Is that her way of accepting us?

Also, if it’s okay to ask (and not too spoilery!), will we ever find out how BB got Scarlett? And who exactly got him into motorcycles? I remember in one of the routes he mentioned it was because of someone, but didn’t go into detail. I don’t think BB is in love with Scarlett, but she definitely feels like a part of him—like a leash, or maybe an extension of his soul.

Finished Season 1 of Slayers rewatch :D

Second half is better than the first but still very rough xD

Veronica Taylor & Crispin Freeman as Amelia & Zel are the best, but I also really love Ted Lewis as Zangulus. And the oneshot Director in Ep 16

(And on the other side of this... Sylphiel. Good character, terrible dub voice.)

S1's filler arc isn't that great aside from Ep 17 (best episode of the season!), but I do kind of love how one episode is literally just 20 minutes of Lina, Gourry, & Amelia running from bandits, Zangulus, & Vrumugun #2

Way more comedy could have been milked out of Vrumugun dying every episode!

Zel get some really good moments this season once he returns! He's also two for two on murdering fishmen this season ^^"

But I did really like the battle between Copy Rezo & the Party sans Lina

Something I always forget is that Zanaffar is technically an antagonist in Season 1. I remember him being a major antagonist in Revolution, but I completely forgot about his S1 appearance here. I'm curious if he's in the novel of this arc since he is supposed to be the major antagonist of Book 5...

Congratulations Ra Tilt you have now had one successful usage! For a spell that is supposed to be on par with the Dragon Slave I feel like it never actually gets a good showing, and it's one kill this season is the Chicken monster. And it took Zel & Amelia both casting it to be successful. It does get a little mileage in the final battle but I still wish this spell got a little more respect too ^^"

I still stand by the Dub but huh.... this half of season 1 has a number of issues. The first half redrew the title cards, meanwhile this half just slaps a black square with English text over the Japanese and call it a day -_-

They also only slapped the black box over the Japanese and left the English word in the original lettering. The result is just so sloppy

Iirc Next & Try don't even bother editing the title cards and it's probably for the best >.>

Also I've noticed a lot of missing voice lines. I think everyone remembers the missing Amelia scream in Ep 21 or so, but there were a number of other missing dialogues as well, some more noticeable than others. And just some general awkward pauses even when the dialogue itself matched the original subs.

It's weird.

Voice direction is also a little off at times where lines that are meant to be phrased like a question are not. Next & Try's dub is generally very solid from what I remember so I'm really surprised how many off moments there are in S1's second half. I always thought it was only the first half that had issues ^^"

But overall I do still like this season even if I'm also glad they never dedicate 9-10 eps to a single book again xD

I ABSOLUTLY do. I'm incredibly unwell about them. I'm like this constantly ⬇

I'm SO sorry this took so long for me to answer. My brain is a nightmare land, where there is no passage of time, and consistency and organization are nonexistent; but I finally got something that makes a bit of narrative sense down in docs.

I'm gonna put it under a cut, though, because it's pretty long. Enjoy my over 2k words of vaguely plot-shaped ramblings <3

Now, first off... You probably had something specific in mind when you asked, but I wasn't entirely sure if you meant backstories in my Paradise Lost AU, or just in Boom.

I'm gonna go with the latter, (the characters' childhoods in Sonic Boom) because it's… A bit simpler.

I pretty much have two parallel AUs: my general 'Boom is the Sequel to Underground' worldbuilding, which has backstories for the main Boom timeline, (what I'll be going into here); and PL, which takes place after the events of Sonic Boom, but in which most of Sonic Underground is not canon. The plot of Paradise Lost is based on Aleena not listening to the prophecy, and so the forewarned 'deadly fate' comes to fruition. (A lot of things are consistent across both stories, though, so Paradise Lost is… An AU of this AU. Sorta.)

Now, For Sonic Boom as it's own thing, I do think it's fine to leave it ambiguous, and consistent with what's established in the general Sonic canon, and to think of it as taking place a few years after the mainline games, or just letting it be what it is, because it's Very hard to tie it to anything else.

But! There's also a lot of really weird one-liners and episodes that made me think WAY too hard about the possible world building; and somehow, Sonic Underground fits really well into the vague narrative that exists in Boom. And so that's where my AU headcanons come in. :D

Anyway.

In this one, the events of Sonic Underground are pretty much all still canon. There are a few things I'd retcon (mostly just Angel Island lore– see Knuckles' section), but for the most part, it would stay as-is. Tragic Character Backstories™ for the triplets, as explained in Origins episodes, are also still the same.

After the single season of Underground that we got, I'd like to think there would still be a lot of wild-goose-chase scenarios, but a few plot-heavy ones as well.

Early on, I have the (altered) SA2 storyline. Sonic, Sonia, and Manic are all still somewhat inexperienced heroes (in comparison to Sonic in-game). There are no active Chaos Emeralds, so the crystal they're trying to prevent Robotnik from using to power the ARK, is a shard of the Master Emerald. The triplets use their music to inspire Shadow to help them redirect the ARK's crash-course for the planet, and then things go wrong, with Shadow plummeting to earth and losing his memories, while the triplets think he dies. None of them are really sure they consider it a win.

They meet Tails not too long after that, on a routine mission to Westside Island. He had been abandoned as a baby and was raised by flickies in the woods. Sonic rescued him from some bullies, and he helped Manic to fix their van after it had broken down. After growing attached, the boys convinced Sonia to let him tag along, (she gave in because he was adorable and she didn't want him to be left alone out in the forest anymore).

Even though he's brilliant, and they love having him around, they get worried about his safety after getting caught up in a few battles with SWATbots and Sleet and Dingo, (especially after what happened on the ARK) and soon decide to bring him to Sanctuary.

Tails decides he's going to prove that he can keep up with them, and ditches Sanctuary to try and infiltrate a Robotnik base. He gets caught, and the triplets have to go and save him, but he still manages to copy a bunch of plans and files onto a hard drive, and bring it back to the Resistance. The triplets reassure him that they were just trying to look out for him, and keep him safe, but ultimately they cave and let him stick with them.

As far as Eggman goes, he's a modified clone of Robotnik; created to act as an heir to his empire (in the same vein as Robotnik Jr. from AoSTH). He briefly teams up with the Freedom Fighters and helps take down Robotnik.

I'm bad at conceptualizing battles RIP but after all's said and done, Aleena reclaims the throne; Sonic, Sonia, and Manic are declared her heirs; Tails and Knuckles are honorarily knighted for their efforts, and things are on their way to officiate the Council of Four.

After all that, Knuckles returns to Angel Island, and Tails was offered a place in the palace, helping with tech and security and such.

Unfortunately for Sonic, he quickly begins to realize that this Council of Four "destiny" really isn't what he wants in life, and he doesn't think he's suited to run a kingdom. In the spur-of-the-moment decision after an argument with Sonia and Manic, he chooses to leave. Tails offers to go with him, and they steal a small fighter jet from the palace hangar and take off, with the intent to have as many adventures as possible, and learn about all that the world has to offer, before Sonic's family inevitably drags him back to Mobodoon. (They have to catch him first).

They eventually find out Eggman (who doesn't really know what to do with himself anymore because his whole purpose was to take over Robotnik's empire) is beginning to walk in Robotnik’s footsteps… Sorta. The siblings had encouraged him to follow his dreams, and make his own path in life. So, Eggman decided that what he really wanted was to build a theme park in his own image, but he goes about it in like,,, the worst way possible (If he somehow achieves world domination along the way then it's a win-win). So Sonic shows up whenever he starts wreaking complete havoc. (Which happens regularly.)

Sonic also eventually finds out Shadow is alive, but doesn't remember who he is, and he once again finds Sonic completely insufferable. So, thanks to Shadow's very thin patience, they tend to either beat each other up, or ignore each other. Sonic sort of tries to be his friend, since he knows Shadow has the potential for good, but they don't resolve their issues before the events of Boom.

Knuckles' backstory is pretty standard. He still grew up alone on Angel Island, but the differences lie in the lore of the Chaos Emeralds and Master Emerald.

The Chaos Emeralds are in stasis– think the Special Zones in the early games or like… smth like how they were kept on the Starfall Islands in Frontiers. None of the characters have access to them (yet)

The Master Emerald was shattered by the Guardian Priestess in order to keep it out of Robotnik’s hands, leaving Angel Island to fall into the ocean. The pieces were scattered, but the shards still hold a lot of power. However, because they're broken, they're incredibly unstable. Knuckles only ever found a few pieces, and just thought they were the Chaos Emeralds.

He has an extremely poor memory thanks to a head injury he received during the fight for the master emerald (he was only like 4 or smth), paired with the trauma of losing his entire tribe. He hardly remembers any of it by the time he meets the triplets. What he does know, is that he's the guardian of the island, and that he's supposed to protect the 'chaos emerald', and outsiders are bad news.

He mostly stayed away from the temples, after everyone had been killed, preferring to keep to the older city ruins, taking care of chao and his pet salamander*, and sticking to his routines, when he hasn't been called on to help the triplets.

*I've decided that Chomps, his "dinosaur" (salamander) is actually the same species as the one used to create the Bio Lizard

I'm retconning Althair being a living character because I said so. He should've been a spirit– or even better, Tikal.

Amy, I headcanon as Knuckles' sister. (I don't think it'll ever be canon, but I like having fun with the concept). They were separated as children, with Amy being taken to Mobius as a baby in order to protect her, and they don't know they're related.

- Amy is a hybrid, while Knuckles is fully Echidna. She was documented as a hedgehog because those traits were a lot more prominent when she was a baby. (General hc that mobian children tend to take after one parent species or the other, and hybrids are comparatively rare. They're often still documented as one species or the other because it's not always obvious at first or it's 'easier.' Blended species families tend to have actual last names instead of their species for consistency*.)

*I have more headcanons about naming conventions, too, but this is getting tangential <3

Their mom was a Priestess for the Master Emerald, similar to Tikal. Both Amy and Knuckles inherited her strength, though Amy's clairvoyance would end up being stronger. She was blessed by the Fates of Chaos (thing I made up) as an infant, and gifted her hammer for protection and deliverance of justice, and her fortune cards to help guide her. When the war started, Robotnik aimed to go after anyone with oracular abilities, in order to absolve himself of any possible "fated" loss. (He was unsuccessful in defeating the Oracle of Delphius).

In order to protect her, Amy's mother had her father take her back to Mobius, where she could be hidden from Robotnik under the guise of being a hedgehog.

Her father was never super hands-on, tending to leave her alone for long periods of time as he went out to aid the Freedom Fighters. Amy started visiting Vanilla when she was six, not too long after Cream was born, because she needed to borrow some vegetables, and the nice-looking lady down the road had a pretty garden.

Her dad stopped coming back when she was eight (he was caught by Robotnik and roboticized). She knew that he would stop coming home eventually– her cards had told her as much– but it was still hard to understand. She spent a lot more time with Vanilla after that, but still grew to be extremely independent.

After the war ended, Amy began helping Vanilla's friend, Vector, and his detective agency with finding people's missing family members. She would sometimes use her cards on particularly difficult cases, and in her off time, would regularly play matchmaker for Vector and Vanilla.

On her thirteenth birthday, she went to Little Planet, following her cards in search of her own destiny. Unfortunately, this was at the same time that Eggman decided it would be the perfect place to put a theme park, and so she got caught up in the crossfire of his and Sonic's ensuing battle.

She fell for Sonic pretty much immediately. He was cute, and witty, and strong, and basically the epitome of a teen hero. But he was also extremely arrogant and egotistical. Tails, she found, was pretty much Sonic's yes-man. Sonic never put him down, or anything, and obviously loved the kid a lot; but he tended to follow Sonic's lead, and both of them were fairly brash and dismissive towards her– Something she really wasn't a fan of. She still flirted with Sonic quite a bit, but her short temper meant that they end up butting heads even more.

They ultimately parted ways, though she still felt somewhat drawn to Sonic; and she was still hopeful that they could become friends. They bumped into each other a few more times after that, but they didn't stick together as an official team, until the Rise of Lyric incident.

Craving adventure, and fascinated by Little Planet and the ruins that were there before Eggman got to it, is what inspired her to pursue archeology, and anthropology.

Amy and Knuckles officially met each other for the first time on Angel Island. Amy was there on an archeological expedition, interning with Cliff, and they were exploring the ruins there. Knuckles decided to follow them around to prevent them from causing any trouble, or disturbing any remains. They spent the entire time squabbling over the 'correct' way to do things, until Cliff reassured them both that they would respect Knuckles' culture and wishes, even if that meant leaving the island altogether.

While they were there, Eggman targeted Angel Island as another Potential Theme Park Location, and Amy and Knuckles had to team up to stop him. At the end of it all, Amy invites Knuckles to go back to Seaside with her. He accepts, ultimately tired of the isolation, and figures he can be a treasure hunter like her. (The explanation that treasure hunting was a completely different thing went right over his head.)

Sticks was raised by her great aunt, who took her in after her parents died. (Mentioned offhandedly in Closed Door Policy as the one who gave her the beehive. I've decided her name was Honey, because puns.)

Honey had gone completely off-grid during the war, and taught Sticks most of her survival skills. She kept up with what was going on via newspaper, and didn't throw much of anything away because it could be useful. The paranoia, delusions, and auditory hallucinations were genetic, which contributed to both Sticks' and Honey's isolation.

Honey died of an illness when Sticks was about seven, and she was on her own after that. She rarely went into the village during the day unless it was for something she needed, or if she got lonely, but she still never really interacted with anyone. It was the villagers that regularly called her a feral, and most of them went out of their way to avoid her.

So, she had a lot of time to herself, and mostly spent it making complex traps and defense systems, or wandering around the island; having to figure out how to get herself out of countless dangerous situations on her own.

She was twelve when the others arrived on the island, and Knuckles got caught in one of her traps while exploring the jungle, and when she finally let him down, he brought her back to officially meet the others. They thought she was a little strange, but so were the rest of them. She was nice enough. She joined their team after an Eggman attack where they found she could hold her own really well against his bots, while keeping up with the rest of them.

A few other little things:

The brown scarf Sonic wears was a gift from Tails, as an easy way to hide his medallion, so they wouldn't get caught. The only reason it's brown, is because Tails is colorblind and thought it matched Sonic's red shoes. (Sonic didn't correct him.)

Tails' goggles in Boom are made from polarized red glass, because the tint helps to enhance the differences between red and green. He wears them when flying his plane, or engineering, in order to quickly read light signals and differentiate wiring colors.

Amy's bengals are also inhibitor rings, designed specifically to temper her clairvoyance, but also put a cap on her chaos energy. She can use Chaos Control to summon her hammer, and put it away, but only if she knows its exact location (which is why she keeps it on a hook near her door, and why she freaks out if she loses it). Without her inhibitors, her powers become stronger, but less stable.

The necklace Sticks wears is made from her mom's old wedding ring. When she was five, she turned it into a necklace with a few random beads and shells she had collected from the beach. She never takes it off, but she's had to repair and replace the cord a couple of times.

She really does keep the burrow spotless– old food draws in pests, and she doesn't actually have much trash, as most items in her home are made of natural materials. When something breaks, she either repairs it or throws it out without issue.

I really love Gwen's story in the end of ATSV cuz even if she and Miles never speak again she has real friends now, she's not all alone anymore. She has people who understand her the way others couldn't. And things aren't 100% perfect in her dimension but at least her father no longer thinks she's a murderer and even though everyone else will probably never change their mind about her in her world at least her father is here on her side. It's a huge improvement from how things were in the first movie and the majority of the second one. She spent the whole first movie realizing what it's like to be happy again, in the second movie she was afraid that she would lose everything because things were even worse than before, at one point she did lose everything, and after that she gained more than she thought she would.

Of course she was so negative about stuff, cuz when life is beating you down for too long you forget that good things can happen.

He's got his precious moments. I fear that people forget that he doesn't know how things work so he says stuff which is out of pocket. The writing can take it too far, no denying that, but it's established that he doesn't know what he's saying most of the time.

Just look at this and tell me Teddie knows how the world works. Please! It should be more than obvious that he doesn't!

Idk why there's disbelief over Mark S/Helly in terms of motivation. Helly is just as capable of cruelty and selfishness as Helena. They are at the core of it, the same person with different memories/experiences. They can be two perspectives worthy of indulging their own dreams and desires and also be the same person. Narratively here especially, this isn't about morality, it's about human nature.

Helly was never cruel, sure, of course. Helly felt like she was the same as the other people in MDR. But Helly has something right now that she never even achieved as Helena. Someone who loves her. Someone who is choosing her. Helly is Winning over Helena here.

Jame Eagen wanders down just to be a freak and reinforces the reality of it. Helly is "More" than Helena, hasn't been worn down by the weight of experience and the world (and their cult and corporate bullshit). She still has, in some way, the innocence of youth and lack of experience with the world. She doesn't have the same fears and burdens or triggers as Helena in her conscious experience. She still has the ability to express her passions and outrage and defend herself. And to love and not feel sorry for it.

Severance gave Helena a chance to exist without the learned perspectives and burdens of the Eagens and she is able to be free with herself and her passions and desires-- whereas Helena was likely drained of any dreams for potential beyond a strictly guided future decades ago.

Of course Helly is feeling a rush of joy and satisfaction over Mark loving her. Mark choosing her. She tried to do the "right thing" by being logical with Mark. "I'm her." Even outside of Lumon, if they bring it all down, there's no hope for an Eagen and an ex-severed employee in reality. In the Real World they will never be together. Mark couldn't love Helena, how could anyone love an Eagen? (Poor Helly really with like, the enemy is within etc, but that's kinda the situation framed by Lumon for everyone by setting the stage with your Innie isn't human kinda rhetoric.) (This was also reinforced by Helena trying to get close to Mark to see if he still had feelings or chemistry with her and finding out they were not going to work outside Lumon.)

What if the equator is a building that could be a continent? Can be their whole world? They're choosing to live Now. Together in the present despite knowing that with their half lives, they could be brought to an end at any moment. It's very willful young love of them. And why wouldn't it be? This is their First Love. They haven't even been "alive" that long or have any memory of romance beyond their current infatuation. They don't know the world or it's places, and maybe that's okay, maybe they can exist in this space so long as they have love and the others.

It's completely human for Helly to accept Mark choosing her. To run to him just to see him for maybe the last time. It's human for Mark S to run to Helly. It's human for poor Gemma, who doesn't even know her fucking husband is severed, to be pounding on the door.

But this is their Final Day to Mark and Helly. Maybe the very end of their world. It's Judgement Day. Of course they'd have them holding hands and running back to the unknown to face the end together. To die together.

There is also zero fucking chance Mark Scout would risk his life and brain continuing reintegration once his wife is back. Mark Scout is going to choose his wife. Mark is choosing Love on both sides here.

All of it is reasonable.
