The real, true, core problem with Boruto is the writers didn't have the courage to give it the genre it deserved: slice of life. After the nonstop battles and high melodrama of Naruto the characters, the setting, and the audience all deserved to be rewarded with something more mellow, sweet, and happy. The drama could be of the sorts that you'd find in a sitcom or other mild drama: interpersonal failings, work-related stress, culture clash with foreign ideas, tension between new and old generations. And then every two or three hundred episodes, you'd have Naruto team up with an old friend (Gaara, Sasuke, Killer Bee, Shino, etc) find the guys who have been doing shady things in the background for the last 2 arcs, and just fucking annihilate them off the face of the planet. Then back to clan politics, researching peaceful applications for Ninjutsu, and how to plan a birthday party for Himawari in Ame without the local Naruto cult making a big deal out of it. I don't hate the Boruto manga for existing, but as far as I'm concerned, it's a "bad timeline" AU personal project. So I don't let it color my enjoyment of the series. I've been watching the series with my friend (his first time) and we've been having a ton of fun! I've been poisoning his mind with my ideas on how the setting works, and which characters are bastards most responsible for screwing everything up (Looking at you, Jiraya. Danzo.) , which has been very enjoyable.
Ok time for a fun fact:
I watched Boruto (anime) before Naruto.
And the Boruto anime is so full of filler that is actually slice of life, a little bit like if Naruto's parents hadn't fucking died and I thought it was good!! it has funny moments, touching moments and I didn't even knew half of the adult characters!
Then I watched the main series and i was like 'oh this goes hard i see why everyone likes it' and then i saw part 2 and went 'ok yeah i guess' and then it went to shit a little bit for me because this very cool ninja magic system (the clones, the deceit of changing yourself for a stupid little log, the hiding yourself using a piece of paper/fabric, the chakra level system) was very cool!! but then in part two that is sent to shit when madara uchiha himself can just summon a damn meteor to kill everyone, and not that i don't like madara but i really think him just going down there and beating everyone's asses with no actual jutsus needed was more badass than the meteor.
what i mean is that the whole 'naruto is actually the reincarnation of ninja god's son' thing feels very lazy when this series had an actual cool system that made sense and wasnt pulled out of someone's ass.
i think shikamaru defeating hidan with his wit and nothing else was more interesting than naruto just coming and blasting kakuzu to hell.
and this doesn't mean i don't like naruto, i actually like it a lot but that doesn't mean i don't see the very obvious flaws in it.
Now back to what you said, there's media depicting what happens after the war, there's novels, but not everyone is interested in reading the novels when you can just go back and watch the anime from the beginning and see how cool everything was. i liked the silly, i liked the whimsy and for several seasons Boruto has it!
But then they want to go into the same alien shit that i seriously think it's so uncool and not even fun anymore so it kinda makes me want to stay away from it, cover my ears and eyes and go 'LALALA'

third hokage was such an useless ruler, almost all the bad decisions happened during his time, he was unable to solve any conflicts, chose to turn a blind eye when people close to him committed crimes and never really dealt with them, showed his belly to anyone who wanted a beef with konoha, during his second term peace was maintained only through the sacrifice of clans and their members one by one. He was only appointed as hokage thanks to senju's nepotism, like he wasn't even that strong, he had to off himself to hold his former student back
although i see why the council was so eager to have him on position after fourth died, weaker man is always easier to control

・❥・ Synopsis ・❥・ Having an Uchiha as an ex doesn’t mean anything. Once you’ve managed to make them fall for you, you’re basically stuck with them for eternity.
・❥・ Pairing ・❥・ Sasuke x Fem!reader
・❥・ A/N ・❥・ I finally decided to continue watching shippuden after having it on pause for 5 years.. yeahhh so I’m having a huge obsession with it rn. Also please feel free to send prompt requests for me to write! And I feel like I definitely could have written this out better but I was in a rush and stressed out about Job interviews so mb

♥︎
You finally gathered the courage within you to end your relationship with Sasuke. This wasn’t an easy decision. In fact it was tearing you apart. You still loved him. But the differences between your priorities and his were far too different to the point where they were conflicting with each other.
You might as well have been talking to a wall that day with how blank his expression was after you just announced how you were breaking up with him. The loud silence was killing you inside, does he not care at all?
♥︎
-You wanting to break up with him was like a jab at his ego. The Sasuke Uchiha. The last prodigy of his clan and you wanted to leave him? Though this enraged him, he refused to let you know it. He couldn’t let you have the satisfaction of knowing that this actually affected him.
-After you left the apartment he started to completely trash the place. Everything in it was obliterated into nothingness. But as soon as he went out in public he acted completely fine as if nothing happened.
-Anytime you were around he would make sure you saw him with other girls. He wanted to show you that he could be with anybody he desired without a problem, at any given second. Show you that you weren’t nothing special to him.
-He was lying. Because as soon as you left his vision he treated the girls like shit and pushed them aside after they served their purpose in making you jealous.
-He tried to sleep with random women in the village to further prove that he didn’t need you. (He was really just trying to convince himself) but he couldn’t bring himself to do so. None of them even compared to your beauty. Even the thought of another person lying on the bed you two once shared disgusted him.
-After weeks of this even Sasuke couldn’t believe his own facade. He craved you. He craved your smile, your laughter, Your touch. And is willing to do whatever it takes to remind you that you belong with him.
-He sucked up his pride and begged Naruto to send you two on missions together. So you’d be basically forced to talk to each other . (Naruto uses this against him every now and then)
-During one of the missions, one of your comrades decide to get a little touchy with you. You pay this no mind since you have no interest in the guy, but Sasuke definitely notices it. What’s a worthless ninja doing talking to what’s his?
-A couple of days after that mission, the scenario of another man getting that close to you haunted Sasuke day and night. There’s no way in hell you’d ever willingly decide to be with any other man but him. Right? He needed the reassurance and he needed it now.
-It was 4 am when you opened the door to your apartment after you were awoken by loud desperate banging on the door just to be faced with your ex. He invited himself in, closing the door behind him as he slowly crept towards you.
“Sasuke?”
-He reached for your hand and held it in his, as he focused on you as if there was nothing else in this world. You could tell he developed dark circles since the last time you saw him.
“The day we got together was the day I chose you to be the one I repopulate my clan with. The only one worthy of the surname Uchiha. You’re mine and I’m yours.”
-He noticed how you were at a loss of words so he took this moment to do what he’s been yearning to. He grabbed the back of your head pulling you into a kiss. The kiss was messy and desperate. He kissed you as if you were the oxygen he needed to breathe. And to him, you were.
-Needless to say you were vulnerable to his request and took him back. How could you not?

Getting deep into the aus in my head rn. Ok so you know that genre of arranged marriage webtoons/novels that's like, "the crazy princess is forced to marry the brave knight by the king, who wants to punish the knight for some reason" and then the princess turns out to either not be crazy or to be amping up the crazy on purpose, probably in order to survive some dark shit happening in the palace?
Ok so like. That. Now make it obkk.
(I'm tempted to say mdtb but obkk just fit better, I think. But also like, shit make it mdtb too, I love this trope)
Now here's the thing; I think there's a super fun argument to be made on both sides for who gets what role.
Crazy prince Obito could totally play into his Tobi persona, which would just be cool symmetry. But also knight Obito could be so cool, just objectively. And it could be interesting to play with a crazy prince Kakashi who like, saw his whole family murdered in front of him and then played up the crazy act to avoid becoming next on the chopping block.
Im going to settle with a prince Obito, so now please buckle up for todays au:
"Crazy" prince Obito who isn't quite as crazy as he seems being forcefully married to war hero general Kakashi of the Hatake dukedom in order to humiliate the Hatake's,,
(this one is nearly 4k words, so we're putting a cut on it)
SO! Starting from the top!
The Hatake dukedom is basically the only power to rival our beloved evil king Madara's throne. Other than them, Madara is pretty much untouchable, so his paranoid ass tries to keep a pretty firm eye and thumb on them. Gotta make sure they remember to stay the hell in line, you know?
So Kakashi is ordered to go to war pretty young, possibly in an attempt to get the young heir killed and cut off the Hatake's at the knees. Only for some years later, Kakashi to pretty much singlehandedly win that war and return this super big war hero. Which is a big problem for Madara, because now the Hatake's have even more political capital. And again, his paranoid ass does not like the possibility of there being someone to rival him in power.
As it is, there are only 3 (living, conscious) Uchiha left.
Madara, who is king.
Obito, a bastard nephew of Madara, who is absolutely fucking insane and only ever let out a tight leash when his insanity amuses Madara. He's only lived this long because his stupidity amuses Madara sometimes, and because he's very clearly no threat to him
And Sasuke, Madara's.... technical spare, who is only allowed to live because of his resemblance to Izuna.
(And somewhere deep in the castle, there sleeps on one Uchiha Izuna, trapped in some sort of coma Madara can not wake him from)
All the other Uchiha were killed (we will return to this) including Itachi and Shisui
(Incidentally, among Kakashi's loyal companions he collected during his years at war, there are two dark haired boys who are so careful to hide their faces when in public. I'm sure there's no relation there.)
So! Kakashi returns from war and Madara is like 'shit, I need to stop this train before it gets too far off the tracks' and invites Kakashi to the palace to "reward" him for his service.
Only when Kakashi gets there, the "reward" he's given is that Madara has arranged a spouse for him— his famously insane bastard nephew.
Getting into the politics of this: Giving him Obito humiliates him in public + gives him a ticking time bomb for a wife + reminds him of his place + gets rid of Obito too, who Madara is probably sick of seeing at this point.
Plus if we like, lean into period typical homophobia or whatever, Madara giving him a husband instead of a wife has implications too. Madara says you will NOT procreate, the Hatake house will NOT have a heir, and if they do then they'll automatically be a bastard who will never have a mother.
Take this crazy guy as ur wife lmao get fucked have fun <3
He's ending the Hatake's and Obito's bloodline in one move, 2 birds with one stone!! He's so smug about this solution he's worked out.
Kakashi, obviously yk, is super offended and panicked and also doesn't even want to get married, especially not to the goddamn famously insane prince, but he cant say no to the king! So he's kind of just forced to bow his head and grit his teeth and say thanks as Madara is all smug and happy on his throne saying some shit about he can't wait for the wedding.
So yk, Kakashi brings Obito home and it's this whole fucking spectacle because Obito is freaking the hell out and acting like a total lunatic
The whole rug pool is that Obito isn't nearly as insane as he's acting. To be clear, Obito does have just a whole list of mental issues, and is genuinely incredibly unstable— he's just also playing it way, way up in order to protect himself from being looked at too hard by Madara.
And obviously, yk, he's suddenly thrown at Kakashi with pretty much no warning for either of them, and he doesn't know who the fuck Kakashi is, other than his reputation for being at war for years now. So he's gonna really crank up the crazy factor because it's the only way he knows how to keep himself safe— at least until he's gotten a better handle of Kakashi what the hell he's all about
Anyways just, Kakashi and his crazy wife Obito,,
Kakashi ofc eventually sniffs out that Obito isn't nearly as insane as he's acting, and Obito is able to act a little more genuine to what he's really like.
Meanwhile we also get lots of Sakumo content, who is around btw and acting Duke Hatake. Also Rin is around, probably as Kakashi's second in command. We also get team ro, who Kakashi collected while he was at war and act as his lill team and trusted confidants
I want to see Obito and Sakumo in particular interacting tbh.
The differences between Madara as Obito's hella abusive shitty uncle who would purposefully provoke and feed into his fits, and his new so much kinder father in law who takes even his best attempts of causing a scene and making a fool of himself with a slow blink and a calm demeanor,,,,,, ough,,
Obito experiences fatherly love for the first time in his life and promptly has several crisis's about it
Now! Rewinding a bit to focus back on Madara / Uchiha situations ->
Madara doesn't really have an official heir. Or he does, but it's Izuna. Who, if you remember, is in that coma.
Madara is deep in denial about the fact that his brother is NOT going to wake up. Get over it Madara, it's been 10 fucking years !!!
Like I mentioned before, Sasuke only got to survive because he looks so much like Izuna. Madara probably straight up calls him Izuna and makes him dress and act like his younger brother sometimes when he's in his worst mental states (it flip flops a lot)
Sasuke can't be around Madara when he drinks bc Madara mistakes him for Izuna and starts alternatively yelling at him for daring to leave him and crying messily all over him
Sasuke is technically heir, but not really. Madara will only ever refer to him as the spare— because obviously, Izuna is going to wake up some day. Obviously. Any day now.
Now obviously, Sasuke already has a big brother! Which Madara does not like. How is he supposed to project all his issues onto Sasuke as a younger brother if Sasuke already has an elder brother?
So like, Madara gets rid of Itachi because he doesn't want Sasuke to have a big brother figure in his life other than him, bc yk, Sasuke is his Izuna shaped stress toy to cope with the loss of his own brother.
Madara sends Itachi to the front lines of the war at like 13 to have him killed. But then Kakashi saves him (team Ro noises,,)
Itachi quietly disappears from the playing field and is written off w the countless unnamed dead, and Madara is satisfied. Meanwhile, a masked assassin joins Kakashi's inner circle,,
(In the castle, in the middle of his grief, an 8 year old Sasuke is told he can address Madara as elder brother)
"How did Izuna even fall into that coma?", I hear you asking. Well!
I am now sliding to u a doctor/mage/saint Tobirama who is somehow the reason Izuna is in his coma (maybe on purpose, maybe by accident)
But Madara can't kill him bc hes like. The best doctor he has. And he needs him to keep Izuna alive in his coma.
"Damn, well how did Tobirama get to be working for Madara?" I now hear you asking
Well! x2, We will now rewind even further, to Madara's childhood ->
Starting it off with: is it even a naruto au without a dash of "childhood friends gone wrong?"
Basically, when Madara was a kid, he got to be close friends with Hashirama. Only for Hashirama to be unwittingly used as a tool by his father, for Butsama to try and overthrow the king of the time, Tajima.
A ploy that nearly worked, Butsama managing to kill Tajima + all of Madara and Izuna's other siblings + most of the other Uchiha right in front of the boys.
At the last second, Madara, with the help of the family's advisor, Zetsu, managed to kill Tajima and divert his plans. But now most of the Uchiha were dead and they had a crisis on their hands.
Madara is put on the throne at like, 13 years old, with only Zetsu to really rely on because everyone else is fucking dead, defected, or suspicious as hell. (Which is why, even decades later, he remains so consistently paranoid of anyone who might have the power to rival the throne; ie, the Hatake)
Anyways. Boy king Madara with his spooky advisor Zetsu at his side.
Zetsu is that trope of a a super obviously creepy and evil royal advisors, you guys know the trope. He is hunched behind Madara's throne whispering into his ear
"Kill them sire,,, they disrespect you,,,"
He like helped raise Madara when he was a young so Madara is DEEP in his pockets. After all, after the Uchiha were nearly overthrown, he was the only adult figure Madara had to depend on.
(To be clear, Madara himself is a shitty person. Zetsu is his own brand of spooky evil guy, and yeah he's a terrible influence on Madara, but Madara has made his own shitty evil choices in this too.)
After everything settled down, Madara had to decide what the hell to do with the remaining Senju— including Hashirama and Tobirama, who were also now among the only survivors of their clan.
Hashirama never meant to betray Madara, but he still did, and for that Madara can bear to look at him or he'll begin to feel sick.
Madara ends up being unable to kill his old best friend (even as Zetsu urges him to do it), and instead just sends him off to some temple deep on the edge of the kingdom, under heavy guard, basically banished from everywhere else in the kingdom. Hashirama goes quietly.
Tobirama, however, he keeps. Forced to serve in the palace as a sort of doctor.
Put him in some sort of magic collar that means he can't disobey a member of Uchiha royalty or smthn fun and fucked up like that, it could be fun. Collar that man !!!!!
Its enchanted w an order like, "you must follow every order given to you by the king" and then later down the line (when Madara is inevitably overthrown) Madara tries to order Tobirama to do smthn, Tobirama just looks at him coldly and goes "you are king no more."
I think whether Tobirama put Izuna in a coma or not would be left intentionally vague. We never know. Not even I know.
Maybe it was an accident, and Madara can only assume the worst because of who his father was and his clear hatred of the Uchiha.
Or maybe it was on purpose, his intrusive thoughts finally winning out. He certainly doesn't seem to have much sympathy or regret for the fact Izuna's been asleep for a decade now
Now, pointing back at Zetsu and Madara
Zetsu is sort of just a generic shadowy advisor for Madara in this. He's running the kingdom behind Madara's shoulder, he just kinda gets to do whatever and thrives bc of it. Zetsu living his best life!!!
Everyone is suffering in some way EXCEPT for Zetsu, who is having a wonderful time
So like. Madara seeming convinced he'll never die. Bc Zetsu has been whispering in his ear ab ideas of eternal life and necromancy, telling him he can rule forever and use this newfound power to wake Izuna. (Which is also ofc why he has no real heir and doesn't seem too worried about it)
(Meanwhile in the bg Tobirama is being used for his research. He's… happy about this, actually. He's thriving, just a little bit. Madara lets him play with dead bodies. And yeah, it sucks he has to obey the bastards commands, he's given p much unlimited funds and just kinda makes cool taboo shit as he researches immortality. He still bitches ab it tho.
Maybe in the end, he'll drag Madara out from the dungeons by the scruff like hes a wet cat and says smthn vague ab how hes going to be calling the shots from now on, and they disappear into the night)
So anyways. Inhuman somehow vaguely immortal Zetsu— who's been running out on his immortality juice.
Maybe we can play w Kaguya and the Hatake clans involvement? Zetsu gets his power from siphoning off of Kaguya, but the Hatake's of these past few generations have been worshipping her too, so she no longer has eyes only for Zetsu— meaning he no longer gets as much power from her.
Which is also why he's pushing Madara to hit the Hatake's w the ban hammer, because he wants them out of the way so Kaguya will look his way again.
(Or at the very least, Tobirama can hurry up and inventory human immortality already so Zetsu can try out a new method)
If you wanna get extra fucky with it, we can go with a 'son of Kaguya' Kakashi au, and throw in even more fucked up moon goddess family drama. Kakashi has no idea he's even related to the moon goddess, but Zetsu is losing his fucking mind because he's no longer his mothers number one special little boy anymore
What even is an obkk au without heaps of family drama in all directions?
Ok so, rewinding back to where we were, with newly wed Obito and Kakashi ->
So, Kakashi has been at war for some years now and has a lot of shit to do and catch up on now that he's back. Including catching back up with his dad, who he hasn't been able to see for any longer than a week tops in years. Very emotional! Very fun! Madara is a bastard for keeping them apart
But specifically tho. Kakashi helping Itachi to reunite with Sasuke.
I mentioned before that Kakashi collected team ro while he was out at war, and each of them probably has some sort of mini quest to fulfil,,
Senju bastard Tenzo who maybe grew up in the same church Hashirama was banished to, but was eventually sent away by Hashirama who couldn't bear to see him live the same isolated life as him (and maybe feared that Tenzo would be killed if Madara heard there was a new mokuton user)
Itachi and Shisui, Itachi being sent away to die and Shisui being an Uchiha bastard who either Madara thought he managed to kill (but escaped the massacre of his own remaining family Madara would eventually pull) or who got sent away with itachi to die at war. And just them wanting to reunite with Sasuke, their only remaining family left, who they worry for every day that he's left alone with Madara.
Im thinking tho. Sasuke eventually somehow escaping on his own (before team ro can even try to sae him) and managing to get to the Hatake dukedom,,,, Kakashi and Obito end up basically adopting him, pass it on
Super emotional Sasuke and Itachi reunion my beloved,,, I want Sakumo to try and dad them both, it'd be fun. Sakumo is just dad-ing everyone in this au, he's so father shaped
Sasuke spending so many years alone w only Madara as his family and maybe a weirdly fucked up and distant uncle-ish energy Tobirama who he regularly sees Madara going out of his way to make his life miserable.
But also like, obviously: Sakura and Naruto. I bet those two helped him escape tbh
Uhh knights in training Naruto and Sakura who are so determined to protect their prince Sasuke (even as Sasuke tells them he doesnt need his protection)
What if Sakura is training under Tobirama in place of Tsunade? Could be fun, idk.
Where is Tsunade in this, is she dead? Was she ever born? Did Madara steal her from Hashirama to make her work in the castle? Could be fun,, on that note too, Orochimaru might be somewhere around here, working with Tobirama to unlock immortality for Zetsu/Madara (*cough* himself *cough*)
Anyways, knights Sakura and Naruto who enter the palace so starry eyed for their beloved king Madara and prince Sasuke,,, only to slowly realize this is NOT the fluffy sparkly fairytale they thought this was going to be.
Im thinking narusasusaku energy where Sakura and Naruto are being silly and competing for their beloved, closed off ice prince's attention, alternating between fighting each other for Sasuke to look at them and teaming up to get rid of potential rivals
Meanwhile Sasuke is looking on at these fucking idiots blatant attempt to throw themselves at him in that way that only kids can, alternating between being annoyed and exasperated and trying to hide how amused he is. They are one of the only bright spots in his life ,,,
Madara doesn't even really have a reason to fuck Sasuke over w them tbh, honestly he might even encourage it just bc they're knights in training and he wants his spare to be well protected (against everyone but him lmao)
Madara is shitty but Sasuke is in this really weird position where he's probably the safest from him. Beccause, you know, Izuna. There's a lot of emotional abuse there and incredibly unhealthy dependency from Madara's end, projecting Izuna onto Sasuke. But for the most part, Madara dotes on him. Because, again, Izuna. Though there's also probably a certain amount of genuine fondness Madara has grown for him
He only really gets violent if it looks like someone will try and take Sasuke away from him (particularly in a familial way, which is what got Itachi (almost) killed)
Naruto and Sakura are deemed safe by Madara because they too are under his control, and every prince does need a good knight.
He might even think their not so well hidden crushes would be good for him, because that way he can count on them to ruin any of Sasuke's future romantic prospects for him. And if Sasuke ends up getting with his knights, he will never have a reason to leave the castle, even once he's an adult. A win win for Madara!
Madara approaching Sakura and Naruto both, telling them he thinks theyre just soooo good at being knights and, obviously you know, as their king he will hope they give him lots of updates about Sasuke.
Both Sakura and Naruto are super starry eyed and all for it at first, but Sakura quickly realizes that Madara is asking them to spy on Sasuke for him.
Sasuke himself is not surprised and probable expects it. This is what Madara has done with every single other person that he's ever looked at longer than 3 seconds.
There is a reason Sasuke has no friends, and it's not just because he doesn't want any. That one time when he was 9 and he told his playmate that he missed his big brother and hoped he would come back soon, only for Madara to later drag him out of bed in the middle of the night, scream at him and threaten to send him to die on the front lines with his brother if he really wanted to be with him so bad— well, that kind of gave him trust issues. Understandably.
Thinking also that over the years, while Kakashi was at war, Madara was keeping Sakumo from going to see his son by claiming he needed him close to the palace. So, like, Sakumo interacting with Sasuke on and off over the years,,, just this occasional figure of stability Sasuke is never supposed to talk to for too long,, this man he knows Madara is scared of, who feels so warm to him.
And Sakumo, missing Kakashi so much, interacting with Sasuke thinking about how 'my son was this small, when your uncle sent him to die' and nearly crying about it later.
Anyways just sasusakunaru,,, prince sasuke and his two knights who enter the castle at like 12, starry eyed and fulled of hope— but slowly becoming disillusioned as they realize what kind of life Sasuke is really living.
Them going from swearing to protect their prince with all the strength and surety of a couple of hopeful kids with big dreams— to really, genuinely meaning it, and eventually helping him escape from Madara's hands.
And then ofc them fleeing to the Hatake dukedom, where Sakumo and Kakashi give him sanctuary and he gets to see Itachi again. Who, by the way, he thought was dead and had NO idea was here. Yayy!
Anyways!
Endgame of Kakashi and Obito overthrowing Madara and tossing him into the dungeons. Tobirama ends up dragging Madara out of the dungeons and they disappear into the night together, never to be seen again. (with the implications of a sudden very sharp shift in power between them something to think about off screen)
Sasuke becomes king bc neither Kakashi or Obito wants the throne, and rules with his trusty knights (and partners) Naruto and Sakura.
Obito is happy being a trophy wife for Kakashi, this is actually his ideal ending (after the horror and stress of adjusting to this new unknown life)
Sakumo meanwhile gets to be godfather of the first sasusakunaru kids and swears to protect the Uchiha family for as long as he can
The end, or something

Hiruzen and Danzo are more complicated than people give them credit for
It says it all in the title.
Hiruzen and Danzo are among the most hated characters in all of Naruto, and I’m not entirely removed from that crowd of haters. They’re probably among the easiest characters you can argue are just bad people. Or, at minimum, people who did horrendous, unjustifiable things (or allowed them to happen in Hiruzen’s case). However, I think that because people hate them so much, no one wants to take a closer look at their characters and the more complicated/human reasons why they make the choices they do.
Hiruzen is spineless and that’s a hill I’ll die on, but he’s spineless in one of these most sympathetic and realistic ways I’ve seen depicted in media. Specifically, he’s the walking talking representation of the fallibility of compassion. Hiruzen cares about so many people so deeply that he would rather stand by and let people get hurt than to hurt them himself. He ignores the fact Danzo keeps trying to kill him because he knows he’ll likely have to execute him as retribution and he doesn’t want to kill his best friend, he turns a blind eye to Orochimaru’s dark side because he doesn’t want to fight/kill his student, Tsunade isn’t labeled a rogue ninja because he doesn’t want to put a bounty on his student/mentor’s granddaughter’s head, he let the Hizashi situation and Uchiha Massacre happen because he didn’t want to risk subjecting his people to the horrors of war that he experienced, and he died because he couldn’t bring himself to go all out against his mentors (even if they were reanimated and emotionless versions) or student.
I’m not defending Hiruzen’s actions or lack thereof. Obviously, this is a deeply flawed way to go about life, especially as a leader of a country where you have to regularly make difficult trolly-problem decisions. But Hiruzen is meant to be a deeply flawed individual. He’s like the family of an abuser that refuses to properly step in to stop the abuse because they love the abuser and don’t want to face the idea that the abuser is a bad person. I’m not saying Hiruzen is a good person or in the right, I’m just saying he’s realistic.
If Hiruzen is “the few over the many”, then Danzo is “the many over the few” with a sprinkle of “the ends always justify the means”. Danzo is, at his core, someone who is always trying to do what’s best for the village. He turned Hanzo against the Akatsuki to keep the group from gaining too much power and becoming another threat to Konoha (keeping in mind that Amegakure is adjacent to the Land of Fire), he pushed for the Uchiha Massacre to keep a civil war from breaking out, he killed the messenger toad to keep Naruto away from Konoha and the nine tails out of Pain’s grasp. He created ROOT to make sure that Konoha had a back up fighting force that was highly trained, wouldn’t turn against the village, and were willing to do what even ninja wouldn’t. Even Danzo’s choice to essentially turn on the village by trying to kill Hiruzen was motivated by him trying to do what he thought was best for the village. After all, he knew better than anyone how bad of a Hokage Hiruzen was.
A lot of people oversimplify Danzo into “the selfish, corrupt asshole”—and while I can agree that he’s selfish and corrupt, he’s selfish and corrupt in very specific ways. The corruption is the most obvious and easiest to explain. Danzo is willing to do anything he thinks will benefit the village; that includes working with bad people and using backhanded tactics. As for his selfishness, it stems from one specific thing: Tobirama telling Hiruzen to become Hokage over him.
For a while I was confused why Danzo got a flashback flashbacked to this scene before he died. Now, I think I’ve settled on it being because the scene was at the core of Danzo’s character and greatest character flaws because it was also his greatest regret. It’s pretty clear that Danzo wants to become Hokage and it’s implied that he’s had this dream for a long while. However, Tobirama—his mentor, the former Hokage, and one of the people to define what it meant to be Hokage—chose Hiruzen over him. Because Hiruzen was willing to sacrifice himself for his comrades while Danzo, who knew he should’ve done the same, was too cowardly to offer himself up.
Then he never really grows out of that cowardice. Instead, he looks down on Hiruzen to cope with his own sense of inferiority, gives himself body modifications to become a stronger ninja more capable of defending the village, and obtains as much political power as he can. He remains a coward who prefers letting other people take the fall over fighting his own battles (setting up Hanzo to fight the Akatsuki, asking Orochimaru to kill Hiruzen, ordering Itachi to kill the Uchiha clan, etc.) right up until he uselessly “sacrifices” himself right before he was going to die anyways.
Most of Danzo’s selfish actions come down to him not being able to accept his failure at becoming Hokage while also refusing to learn from his mentor’s final lesson.
I honestly think that Naruto has some of the best representation of bad people simply because it consistently acknowledges two things about bad people: 1. People who do bad things usually do them because they grew up being taught that doing bad things were okay or necessary to survive (being abused, societal normalization, never being punished, early exposure to things like domestic violence, etc.) and 2. Even if they don’t necessarily think they’re good people, the large majority of people don’t think they’re bad or evil. Both Hiruzen and Danzo were raised by a generation haunted by war only to be thrust into two world wars themselves (one at a young age and one when they were older). This left them both traumatized and willing to do anything to avoid experiencing it again. And even if they acknowledge that they’ve made mistakes, they still don’t (seem to) see themselves as bad people, only people who are committing the lesser of two evils.

What are your thoughts on the sasusaku ship and how it was written in the show/manga?
I have written some of my thoughts through here and here but I figure you want me to flesh it out so I'll try to explain it from the best of my ability from the very beginning. I may warn you this is a long analysis.
I have tried to like SasuSaku, trust me, I really have but everytime I re read the manga and read some of their moments together I can't help but cringe because they are so vague and later on they become negative and toxic to the point you question if their is any hope in their relationship and felt very bad to me. I feel like at the beginning they did a okay job, they were shown to have some sense of care in each other regarding Sakura's huge crush on Sasuke and repeatedly asking him on dates. Yes, it is a little bit annoying but remember that Sakura was a 13 year old kid at that time who of course would be a little bit immature for her age so I let her have a pass because there are plenty of girls out there who are probably similiar to her.
During the bell test we get to see them interact more and Sasuke even attempts to try and tell Sakura his dreams and ambitions here since clearly Sakura knows very little about Sasuke other than the fact that he is part of the Uchiha clan, wants to kill his older brother (which she finds cool???), and likes long hair (which is most likely a rumor).
Tumblr media
I'll even admit that this scene where Sakura hugs him to stop him from ripping another shinobi's arms off was very cute as she was able to calm him down. Most people found this romantic and sweet because Sasuke activated his curse mark because Sakura got hurt and that may only be half true because Sakura also confirms that Sasuke was letting his lust of power get to his head due to Orochimaru.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And then this scene right here when Sasuke was about to leave Kohona, I found this scene very upsetting not just because Sasuke was leaving to go to Orochimaru to get revenge, power and all that jazz but because of the way Sakura tried to convince Sasuke to stay in Kohona.
Tumblr media
At first I found her words comforting and true when she was explaining to Sasuke that revenge isn't the answer to his problems which is true but the fact she added it wouldn't make her happy is when I got a little upset and you can see it made Sasuke upset to. Why? Because Sakura is basically making this scene all about herself. She isn't trying to understand Sasuke reasons for his depature and is more upset about what she wants and not him. And then she does it again telling Sasuke that she loves him so much she can't stand and even states she would be LONELY if he went away!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I found it very unnerving because Sakura doesn't understand Sasuke's feelings. She keeps on making it about her and the fact that she keeps on ignoring Sasuke's words really irritated me. Sakura has friends and family who love and care for her and while Sasuke hardly has any friends, he lost his family so young and it doesn't help that none of the teachers seem to be concerned about his mental health and well-being or the Uchiha massacre and it just goes to show that Sakura not only does she not understand Sasuke but doesn't want to understand nor does she care about his feelings. Because the whole reason she wanted to become a kunoichi was to get Sasuke's attention, she grew her hair for Sasuke, and basically her entire world revolves around Sasuke which isn't healthy for a girl so young like Sakura. She even states she will leave the village and help him take revenge just to be close to him which again is stupid but at the same time she doesn't know any better.
Tumblr media
And can we also talk about the fact that after Sasuke knocks her out he just LEAVES her there all alone, unprotected in the middle of the night where anyone could hurt her???? That is not OKAY and it just goes to show how little care Sasuke has for Sakura in regards to her well-being.
And then we have this scene where Sakura plans to go kill Sasuke all by herself so she wouldn't burden Naruto with their promise of bringing Sasuke back to Kohona.
Tumblr media
Again, Sasuke tries to tell Sakura his motives but once again Sakura goes "IDC!!", why? Because once again it just proves that Sakura truly doesn't care for Sasuke's feelings and has no interest in trying to and all she notes is that he changes. I'm sure she has once wondered why Sasuke is doing all this but she doesn't feel the need to try and understand it, why? If Sakura truly does care for Sasuke why hasn't she tried to understand his clan, his background, his feelings? If she truly loved and cared for Sasuke she would try to give a damn about how he feels.
And keep in mind that Sakura was the one who tried to kill Sasuke first, I've seen Sasuke getting a lot of backlash for trying to kill Sakura but people tend to forget Sakura started it and Sasuke was going to finish it!
And gosh, this part where Sasuke tries to kill Sakura will always leave me in complete and utter shock and disgust! Bro didn't even let her prove herself worthy standing by his side when he asked her to kill Karin, he straight up was ready to nerf her ass with no remorse!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kakashi even confirms that Sasuke really meant to kill Sakura with no hesitation whatsoever! What would've happened if Sasuke managed to suceed in killing Sakura if Kakashi hadn't come just in time??
Then Sakura attempts to try and kill Sasuke again but of course is unable to due to her unhealthy crush towards Sasuke. So then Sasuke tries to kill Sakura again by using her poisoned kunai knife against her!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And then Naruto had to come and save Sakura again from nearly being killed by Sasuke! Again, what would've happened if Naruto hadn't come in time?? Kakashi was nearly too late in saving Sakura and Naruto had to save her instead, Sasuke really could've killed her again with no remorse and yet SasuSaku shippers find this healthy?! Because at this point it just goes to show just by now how unhealthy this pair is!
Tumblr media
Many SasuSaku shippers say that Sasuke and Sakura's feelings are connected but I beg to differ because this scene where Naruto reveals that he knows the truth about Itachi further proves just how very little Sakura knows about Sasuke. She is confused and doesn't understand what Naruto means by that and I bet you she doesn't even bother to ask Naruto about it in the aftermath.
Tumblr media
And that fact that she still likes him after he tried to take her life is just appalling! Like, anyone with a brain would understand that if a man who you love purposely tries to take your life willingly, twice means that you should take the hint and realize that he doesn't like you and that you should really think twice if you want to be with them! But Sakura, for someone who is so smart she really can be so stupid! Why would you want to marry someone who tries to kill you??
And then when the three of them plus Kakashi are up against Madara and his new transformation this is what she does.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
She runs in with no plan whatsoever! And why? Because she wanted Sasuke to see how much progress she's made and doesn't want to be seen as a weakling! She ends up getting stabbed and then Naruto and Sasuke have to rescue her! And when they do Sakura is more CONCERNED about Sasuke not worrying about her than the war in general!! ARE YOU KIDDING ME SAKURA??
Tumblr media
What makes you think that this is the right time to be impressing Sasuke in a middle of a freaking war??!!
And when Sakura seemingly seems concerned about what is happening outside this is what Sasuke says to her:
Tumblr media
Wow...I can really feel the loving bond they both share...so romantic...
Then we have Sakura and Kakashi both falling to their almost inevitable doom by almost getting burned by lava and Naruto even tells Sasuke to go and save Sakura but he doesn't and willingly leaves her and Kakashi to both die!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sakura even realizes it too! Look at how distraught her expression is! She is saddened that the love of her life was willing to leave her to die, and she knows by now that she means nothing to him! And I'm suppose to believe that they are in love or that Sasuke had romantic feelings for her the entire time?! I think not!
And then the cherry on top! This scene where it seems like Sakura is going to knock some sense into Sasuke by how fierce and determined she looks on her face right? But no, this is what she does...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
She once again just HAS to make it all about herself! Always about her, how she feels, how much she "loves" Sasuke, and how much she wants him to love her! Now when she was 13 years old it's understandable, she was a little kid who hardly know better but she is practically 16-17 years old here! You would've thought that she would get the memo but no! She is still the same and doesn't care whether or not Sasuke wants her or not! And how does Sasuke respond to that? This...
Tumblr media
He puts her under a FREAKING genjustu where he kills her over and over again for 8 FREAKING hours!! Yup, this is your precious and loving ship SasuSaku fans!! You can clearly see just how much Sasuke loves Sakura and how badly he wants her!!
So in short, SasuSaku is toxic and never should've become a couple in the first place! It's not only that Kishimoto doesn't know how to write romance but he purposely shows us just how toxic these two are for each other and should've just stayed as friends! With how negative their interactions are it's safe to say they were never meant to be! Sakura's so called "love" for Sasuke is selfish, shallow, and superficial and we don't even know why she likes him in the first place, and I bet you it's mainly for his looks because Kishimoto even admits that he's been avoiding writing the real reason for Sakura's crush on Sasuke. Sakura likes the idea of having a handsome man like Sasuke in her life and wants him regardless if he wants her or not!
Sorry for the long analysis here but I hope this answers your question and helps you understand just how bad SasuSaku are!

Hcs for all uchihas with a jinchuriki reader who’s shunned by the village?
Here I come
Tumblr media
Madara
Madara understands isolation intimately. He knows what it is to be feared, to be watched with suspicion no matter how much he proves himself.
The moment he realizes (Y/N) is shunned by the village, a cold fury settles in his chest. The fools—they do not understand strength when it stands before them.
He does not coddle her. He does not pity her. What he does is make sure she never feels less.
-Let them fear you,- he tells her, voice calm, assured. -Let them tremble. You owe them nothing.-
If anyone dares speak against her in his presence, their life expectancy plummets instantly.
He does not believe in small gestures. When he stands beside her, it is not as a quiet supporter—it is as an undeniable force. She is his, and by his side, no one will dare treat her as anything less than powerful.
Izuna
Izuna is absolutely livid when he learns how she’s treated. He doesn’t just get angry—he acts.
-What do you mean they don’t let you into half the shops!?- He growls, eyes blazing. Suddenly, the very stores that once turned (Y/N) away now welcome her without hesitation. Merchants step aside, their fear unmistakable as Izuna strides in, her hand firmly in his, effortlessly purchasing anything she so much as lingers on.
He doesn’t see her as a monster—if anything, he adores the fact that she has something wild inside her.
-Ah... (Y/N)... love... don’t tell me you never wanted to let loose a little.- His grin is sharp, teasing, but his eyes are serious. He wants her to embrace it.
He doesn’t mind that others fear her—in fact, he finds it hilarious. He loves walking through the village with her under his arm, watching people scramble to avoid them.
And if she ever doubts herself—if the weight of being unwanted ever really settles on her—he’s there in an instant, tilting her chin up with an easy smirk.
-You think I’d waste my time on someone who wasn’t worth it?- he teases, smiling and making her laugh -Come on, (Y/N). You’re incredible.-
Obito
Obito knows what it is to be treated as something less than human. Knows the sting of being an outsider.
But his heart is too big, too soft to let her believe the village’s words.
-They don’t know you!- he insists, voice raw with emotion. -They don’t know anything about you!-
He goes out of his way to include her, to drag her into his world, to prove that she is not alone.
It kills him when she doubts herself. When he catches her looking at her reflection with that hollow look in her eyes, the one that says she’s questioning whether she’s even worth loving.
He hates that look. He would erase it if he could.
So he does the only thing he can—he holds her, as tightly as he can, until she believes him when he says: -You are not what they say you are. You are so much more.-
Shisui
Shisui never lets the village’s treatment define her. They are the problem, not her.
-Ah... let them be scared, love. More room for us in the good restaurants.-
But under the charm and laughter, there’s fury. If he hears even one whisper against her—one cruel word—he remembers that face. He doesn’t forget.
And if someone takes it too far? Well… no one ever sees what happens, but those people never speak against her again.
He never lets her feel like an outcast. When she walks with him, it’s with confidence—because he makes sure she knows her worth.
-You’re not a curse,- he tells her one night, when the weight of it all is heavy in her eyes. -You’re a miracle. And if the village is too blind to see it… well, that’s their loss.-
Itachi
Itachi sees her. He sees beyond the whispers, beyond the reputation, beyond the way people flinch at her presence.
He understands what it is to bear something inside you that no one else can comprehend.
-They know nothing, (Y/N)- he says, voice quiet but firm. -Only what they choose to believe.-
He does not try to change her, does not try to convince her to suppress what she is. Instead, he wants her to understand it—to control it, to own it.
-You are not a weapon, but if you must be one… let it be on your own terms.-
And if she ever truly breaks—if she ever questions whether she deserves anything good in this world—his resolve shatters. He hates seeing her in pain, and he hates even more that he can’t take it away.
So he stays, always present. Even when words fail, even when the weight of it is too much, he stays. Because if there is one thing he can give her, it is that.

I hate how Sakura is putting the Uchiha Crest everywhere. Other women act normal but she has to show everyone that she is this super Uchiha girl now.....
Sakura plasters Sasuke's Uchiha crest for three main reasons: status, insecurity and coping mechanism. Sakura was always a girl who felt that her worth would be only linked to getting Sasuke. If she got him out of every girl that wanted him it would mean for her that she is better than all of them. She puts this crest everywhere especially on her and Sarada's clothes to show her status. Look everyone! I am now a wife of Sasuke Uchiha, I belong to the Uchiha clan and we have a daughter together! She has very deep psychological problems especially knowing that she is the only woman to do such thing. Even Hinata does not plaster Uzumaki crest everywhere. Also let's look at very strange situation with Sakura house. In chapter 700 when Sarada was a small child we see that they live in an apartment.
Tumblr media
But in the Gaiden when Sarada is 12 years old, they now live in this big ass house. Why does Sakura need such luxurious big house when only her and her daughter live in it? Sasuke was never in that house. Naruto does not even has such luxurious house and he is the Hokage! Furthermore, Sakura plastered Uchiha crest even outside the house. No one can tell me that she did not get this house to just show off. And the worst thing is that she took a loan to get it and then she destroyed it. How irresponsible you have to be! She loves her status and this life style. She even does her nails and she is a medic...
Tumblr media
When it comes to her insecurity it mostly sterns from the fact that she, herself, is not from any prestigious clan and her academy peers were. I think she is also ashamed of her parents heritage and we can see that she was never shown to talk to them as an adult or Sarada knowing her grandparents. Why didn't Sarada go ask her grandparents about her father or her birth but asked Shizune, a stranger? She does not know them. Sakura does not even have pictures of them at home. She crossed them out of her life as fast as she got Sasuke and his last name.
Tumblr media
Lastly, she plasters this Uchiha crest so much because it helps her fill her delusions. It is basically coping mechanism for Sasuke not being with his family. She is also the only woman that does not wear a ring and was never kissed by her husband. This Uchiha crest is a substitute for her ring that she never got from Sasuke just like she says the poke is better than a kiss. The fact that Sasuke is shown not to wear the Uchiha crest anymore proves that Sakura does not know anything about him. Sasuke stopped wearing this crest because he outrun his destiny and now it is irrelevant to him. The perception for Uchiha clan was always like 'you are an Uchiha, you must be powerful' or 'you have to kill someone close to you to get Mangakeyo Sharingan' and Sasuke was trying to achieve all of that because it meant to be an Uchiha. He thought it was his destiny but in the end he fought against it. His love for Naruto helped him understand it and that is the reason why he does not wear Uchiha crest anymore. He only keeps the headband, the symbol of his love for Naruto and hope.

Hi, I really wanted to know your opinion on this post:
but very specifically to this paragraph:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hi!
It seems to me both authors of each post have different interpretations on Naruto's double suicide promise, I mean since I'm just seeing an excerpt of the first post, I can't tell that well what are they trying to say. But I from what I'm seeing, I agree with the first post. Naruto is indeed saying if Sasuke really wants to destroy Konoha and kill Naruto to finally be alone like he says he will, then Naruto is talking about a clash. Naruto told Itachi and Sasuke that if the latter wanted to destroy Konoha he would have to intervene to stop him but wouldn't kill him because he believed he could save Sasuke but he's also telling Sasuke "either I save you or we both die" because he's not letting him succumb to darkness and be all by himself living a lonely existence but at the same time Naruto has never had the intention of killing Sasuke and living to tell it, because he doesn't consider Sasuke an enemy but his closest bond.
As for the second post, I'm bored by the same anti-naruto arguments Sasuke stans regurgitate "Naruto is being abusive and forcing himself onto Sasuke"
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is such a superficial shallow reading of the text and the worst part is that this type of Sasuke stans feel so smart saying this stupid bullshit.
I'm not going to delve to deep in how Kishimoto is taking inspiration from Chikamatsu Monzaemon and overall Japanese literature of the 18th century for the double suicide stuff, I've already written about it and linked other very good posts [LINK]
But anyway
Naruto is not trying to erase Sasuke's identity, that user is reaching so fucking hard or they are stupid as fuck. Naruto knows they've both been ostracized, oppressed and traumatized by the ninja world due to their status as jinchuuriki and Uchiha, he's telling Sasuke about a dream he has where they could live in a world where they can be happy not having been through the events that hurt them so much. I think Kishimoto's writing is very clear on that.
I love how they don't say what's the solution to Sasuke's problem at all. But anyway, even Naruto is not proposing dying as a solution to Sasuke's problems, he literally approached him first with understanding and empathy for what Sasuke's been through then when Sasuke asked him why he cares so much for him Naruto says "because we're friends" and says he will stop Sasuke from destroying Konoha and they will fight *like Sasuke wants* but he's not going to kill him not let himself be killed, because like I said, Naruto's idea is reconciliation and as last resource both of them dying, not that they will both simply die.
This annoying mf is pissing me off, like just making shit up. Naruto is not centering himself in Sasuke's life, when he said the "meeting in the afterlife" he's talking about how in this world they crossed paths through suffering *for being Jinchuuriki and Uchiha* and that's why they're both struggling in the situation they are (mostly Sasuke). Naruto is saying that in the afterlife where they'll meet, because they are not Jinchuuriki and Uchiha, their meeting will be different, they won't have to separate like they did at VoTE1, Sasuke won't feel the need to cut off those who care about him, it'd be a healthier life, and I think this is also pretty fucking clear in the text.
It's just baffling to me how Sasuke stans see Sasuke go through the worst mental breakdown of his life, abandoned by everyone who once knew him and then see Naruto, the only person that has unconditional love for him, that hasn't lost hope on him, that is the only person that has offered him words of compassion by telling him "Sasuke, I get it" after everyone else said there was no salvation for him, but also tell him "I'm not killing you because you're the most important person in my life and I'm not letting you killing me because I'm not letting you live alone so you can be in the misery you think you ought to" and they still see him as an evil manipulator. Naruto is not trying to brainwash Sasuke, he's answering the fucking question Sasuke asked.
Like maybe if those dumb mf dropped the internet communist revolutionary act for two seconds, they would understand Sasuke is being very self-destructive and suicidal here and Naruto is the only one offering him understanding but also being very firm he's not going to let Sasuke hurt himself more, which is how you're supposed to be when someone is struggling mentally and emotionally.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As Kishimoto said, losing your friend is akin to losing your own identity. By killing Naruto, Sasuke is hurting himself and Naruto is the only one who sees right through that and says "Nope, I'm not allowing that to happen"

sasuke was going to genuinely plan out a genocide and it wasn't something he said in a fit of rage, right?
Was Sasuke Uchiha genocidal?
(2k words of analysis, manga screenshots, and other resources)
To refresh everybody's memory, Sasuke's plan was to destroy Konoha and everybody in it. Not that he actually did but those were his own words.
Tumblr media
Now we can interpret this in two ways
Sasuke is blinded by rage and would, in a hypothetical scenario, act on his words (Sasuke is genocidal)
Sasuke is being dramatic and/or would get cold feet when confronted with the scenario (Sasuke is not genocidal)
In my opinion, the first scenario is far more likely to occur and the second lacks sufficient evidence to reasonably rule out that Sasuke is genocidal.
>>Analysis under the cut<<
Let's establish a few things before we begin. But feel free to skip to the next headline.
First, I will judge attempted crime as harshly as committed crime. Since this is not real life, there is no need to reward incompetence or luck. Either way, the focus of this discussion is Sasuke's intent and resolve.
Second, fictional characters don't exist in flesh and blood but as part of a narrative. This means that a character's decisions and psychology heavily depend on the author's intent.
Third, I love Sasuke's character. Do not misunderstand this as hate. This is an analysis of Sasuke's psychology and actions. He has been wronged in horrific ways and deserved better, but that won't make me sanitize his character.
Fourth, the red links are context links, linking back to my own posts. I highly recommend reading them.
The Sincerity of Sasuke's Death Threats
As per the two options I provided in the beginning, Sasuke's declaration of "destroying Konoha" must have either been sincere or not - the latter implying that Sasuke is being dramatic and/or hasn't considered the weight of his words yet, making him want to take them back. But in my opinion, that does not align with Sasuke's character.
Sasuke rarely (if at all) jokes around or speaks from a place of uncertainty or dramatics. He says he'll kill Danzo? You bet he does. He says he'll kill Itachi? He does. He says he'll kill Naruto? He tries that as well. Granted, two of these deserved to die (from Sasuke's POV) but what matters here is that Sasuke's threats are meant to be interpreted as sincerity rather than hyperbole. At the moment that Sasuke speaks them, he also means them. He is neither a liar nor a performer.
Tumblr media
But Sasuke does go back on his words, doesn't he? During the ending, for example (although it is arguably a character inconsistency). Or during numerous other instances. Why wouldn't it be the same this time as well?
Let's take a look at a few.
One of the few other times that Sasuke takes back a threat is when he threatens to kill everybody Kakashi ever loved (chapter 177). But it is not exactly a threat - it is a hypothetical or an implied threat at best with no actual motivation or desire to drive it. Back then, Sasuke ends up reconsidering his words - though does he really?
Chapter 416 seems to be paralleling this scene. 3-4 years have passed for Sasuke to take a deep look inside himself and judge whether or not he meant those words back then and whether he means them now. And yet, he returns to the exact same logic: I will rob you of your loved ones as punishment for disapproving of my bloodlust.
After he had so much time to reconsider and reflect, Sasuke's readiness to induce harm to innocents does not appear to be spontaneous or ill-considered.
Tumblr media
Noticeably, while Sasuke very often actually ends up executing his threats, he generally also hesitates every now and then. Like when he ends up sparing Naruto after knocking him unconscious. Or sparing Dosu because Sakura begs Sasuke to stop. How can we explain this? Perhaps Sasuke is not as committed to his words after all.
Tumblr media
The problem is that those moments occurred at an entirely different point in Sasuke's character arc at which he is still rapidly bouncing back and forth between cruelty and mercy. While yes, Sasuke is known for hesitating on his path, this hesitance slowly but surely disappears from his decision-making later on. The cause of this change is the decay of Sasuke's morals and ensures that pre-truth reveal Sasuke and post-truth reveal Sasuke are two different people.
The Decline of Sasuke's Morals
Sasuke acts entirely differently after the truth reveal. His morals have visibly changed for the worse. Perhaps it becomes the most apparent when comparing chapter 8 to chapter 481. Whereas Genin Sasuke would once help and support his teammates if they could not keep up on their own, a teenage Sasuke disposes of them.
Tumblr media
This kind of development first occurs as early on as chapter 56 when Sasuke decides that growing stronger (ends) justifies carrying a curse mark (means). He is on a steady moral decline afterward, first willing to sacrifice his loyalties (Orochimaru), then uninvolved bystanders (Killer B, the other Kage, other shinobi, and samurai), and finally, a friend (Karin) all in pursuit of his goals. It is utilitarian in nature.
Also, please let's not discuss the validity of killing soldiers. We have already dealt with this question during Waves Arc and later when Itachi died. From Sasuke's and other characters' POV (and as evidenced by chapter 343), dehumanizing and discarding a person just for being a soldier on the wrong side is wrong. Understood? Good.
Tumblr media
What happened to Sasuke over time is, of course, a character arc. A corruption arc, to be specific. Let's take a quick look at some writing mechanics.
A character arc is always initiated by some sort of trigger event. If said event lies between a version A and B of a character, chances are that their sympathy, competence, or proactivity have become incomparable to each other. This is why a 13-year-old version of Sasuke (pre-truth reveal, which is his trigger event for this specific arc) does not inform us about the workings of a 17-year-old version.
Before this triggering event, Sasuke is also in the midst of a turning point in his arc, hence the indecisiveness about killing Naruto. You can view this in parallel to the Hero's Journey's "Refusal of the Call" during which Sasuke is still hesitant about the road he is taking until the triggering event makes the decision for him.
Tumblr media
Now, back to Sasuke's morals. Personally, I believe what stands at the helm of Sasuke's corruption arc is a decrease in self-awareness and a growing lack of empathy.
There's a certain hypocrisy to Sasuke's decision-making. Sasuke is grieving a brother but then attacks somebody else's brother. He is enraged about Konoha discarding Itachi as a tool but will then proceed to abandon his own comrades (Team Taka). He condemns the genocide committed against the Uchiha but then plans a genocide of his own. Injustice is only injustice if inflicted on Sasuke but not if inflicted by Sasuke.
This does not compare to a younger Sasuke, who uses his own trauma to understand and connect with others and to discern right from wrong. Sasuke is capable of empathizing with Naruto because he is lonely (like himself) and Sasuke finds Orochimaru "disgusting" for viewing humans as mere tools (like a genocidal Itachi). But, over the course of his arc (and after a lot of bouncing back and forth), his trauma instead turns into a weapon to distance himself from others.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The in-universe reason for this change is likely that Sasuke's mind is fully occupied with his own grief and rage. He is blinded by it, so much so that he no longer has the mental space to accommodate other people's pain and suffering.
There is also a narrative device to this, usually applied in the "darkest hour", such as "Batman Grabs a Gun". The purpose is to draw attention to the severity of the situation while also providing more depth to a character by giving them an underlying layer (their emotions/struggles/etc.) beneath their facade (their morals/reputation/etc.).
In Sasuke's case, this is used to highlight his grief for Itachi which is greater than any moral principle Sasuke has. Whatever allows or aids Sasuke in expressing his grief is fair game.
Intensity and Duration
So, Sasuke is definitely blinded by his rage. But is it a "fit"? I suppose that this is a matter of definition.
Sasuke's hatred for Konoha appears to be a constant. It doesn't change. It doesn't lessen. Not after a couple of hours and not after a couple of days.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
To me personally, due to its duration, this is no longer a fit of rage but a mindset - one that Sasuke seems to wholeheartedly believe in.
Regardless of this, we have no indication that Sasuke's rage would lessen anytime soon. On the contrary, actually. Sasuke claims that his hatred has only grown since then.
Tumblr media
The question we now have to ask is whether or not Sasuke would be able to rein in his rage in time to spare innocent lives. Alternatively, and combined with Sasuke's willingness to kill his own teammates, it is entirely possible that Sasuke's rage would power through, as it did for approximately 300 chapters in canon already.
The Attempts
Now, the most damning argument I have to offer is that Sasuke was already intending to make his genocide plans a reality (or take steps to do so) on three occasions. Twice during the Summit Arc and once during the War Arc.
Tumblr media
On all three occasions, the reason why his plans don't come to fruition is because Sasuke gets sidetracked or stopped outright.
In addition, there are three other problems slowing him down. Right in chapter 416, Kisame explains that Sasuke is not strong enough to fight the entire village - even with Taka's help but even more so without them. This conflicts with Sasuke's belief that Taka likely won't approve of his genocide plans or should not be involved for other reasons (which is why Sasuke pretends in front of them). He both needs Taka and has to get rid of them.
Later on, Naruto declares that he will always be there to defend Konoha against Sasuke. My interpretation of this is that Sasuke not only honors his bond with Naruto but also recognizes that fighting Konoha and Naruto simultaneously is not strategically wise - hence, for all intents and purposes, he needs to defeat Naruto beforehand.
Tumblr media
First Attempt
Sasuke takes Team Taka with him, believing them to be necessary backup. Then Obito intervenes who both threatens Sasuke and gives him the wrong impression that Konoha is "no more" - either fully eradicated or too weak to defend itself.
This might erase the need for Taka as Konoha is weakened significantly and Danzo can be targeted separately from the village.
Tumblr media
Second Attempt
In the meantime, Sasuke kills Danzo. As explained by Kisame, a greater conflict with the entirety of Konoha is inevitable if you aim at major political leaders.
On his second attempt, he has coincidentally already managed to abandon the entirety of Team Taka, just as planned in chapter 416. But this time, before he can go to Konoha, his eyes suffer extensive damage and he instead encounters Team 7. As explained previously, Sasuke soon realizes that he cannot/doesn't want to destroy Konoha before killing Naruto. And before that, he needs to get his eyes fixed. This results in Sasuke's withdrawal from the fight.
Tumblr media
Third Attempt
On his third try, the one in which he decides to target Naruto first, he instead gets sidetracked by the appearance of Itachi on the battlefield.
"Sidetracked" doesn't mean "giving up" or "displaying disinterest" in a different goal. Otherwise, Sasuke's training under Orochimaru for 3 years would be proof of his disinterest in killing Itachi. Sasuke is simply prioritizing urgent matters and acting strategically.
Now, all of this "getting sidetracked" might sound a little convenient. But the question is "convenient for who?"
It is of course possible that Sasuke is openly searching for excuses because he doesn't truly want to eradicate Konoha, making him a harmless villain. The other explanation is that Kishimoto was the one looking for excuses.
In a conversation, @theheirofthesharingan pointed out that Sasuke is being "saved by the narrative" ie. plot armor. Though not in the sense that he is being protected from harm but rather that he is being protected from inflicting harm, probably as an extension of Konoha's own plot armor. This also ensures that Sasuke remains "redeemable" and likable to the audience so that Naruto can fulfill his goal of bringing him back to Konoha.
Conclusion
As I said in the beginning, there is a huge mountain of evidence suggesting that Sasuke not only fantasized but would've acted on his revenge plans against Konoha. This is because
We know Sasuke to be a non-dramatic character who doesn't easily back away from his own words.
Sasuke is on a corruption arc, his morals declining far enough to kill a friend. It seems unlikely that he'd draw the line at a stranger.
From a writing point of view, continuing Sasuke's corruption arc makes more logical sense unless he experiences another trigger event. It also further highlights Sasuke's pain.
Sasuke has repeated his goal multiple times over, leading me to believe that his mood wouldn't change soon enough for Sasuke to second-guess himself.
Sasuke has taken steps towards the fulfillment of his goal. It is entirely possible that, if Konoha didn't have plot armor, Sasuke would've found the right time to destroy the village eventually.
Of course, Sasuke's morals are not entirely gone, as we can see when he refuses to join Kabuto (though potentially just because Kabuto antagonizes Itachi). It is still entirely possible that Sasuke would've gotten cold feet when physically confronted with the task of killing innocent civilians. But this possibility is hardly entertained by any of the characters and Sasuke himself doesn't seem conflicted about his plans. It seems like Kishimoto intended for Sasuke to be genocidal, most evidence pointing toward this reading of his character.
I certainly have my opinions on this matter but, like always, this is a matter of interpretation.
Debating me is fine. I like to discuss my favorite characters. But screenshotting, blocking me, and then attacking me behind my back (and without having ever interacted with me) in a new post is a no-go for obvious reasons.

The biggest detriment to Danzo, both as a concept and as a character, was that he was too powerful
Like, just putting aside the same retconned "I was secretly behind every evil thing ever therefore those actually interesting societal problems didn't actually exist it was all me" shit as Zetsu, He makes no sense as a concept because if he's as powerful as he is, the story makes no sense. He either can't be as powerful and connected as he is or he's so powerful that no problems should happen to him ever despite them happening all the time. yes a whole 2 village big army along with a WMD were just able to sneak into Konoha easily, great job there shadow hokage. Then aside from that 2 akatsuki members were able to just saunter on in and Pein was basically fine until Naruto showed up, despite Danzo supposedly having dozens of extremely dangerous ANBU level ninja and being extremely powerful himself. Even if you try to justify it as "Oh, he doesn't care about Konoha the people, he cares about Konoha the place, that's why he's a foil to Naruto," He absolutely does not, It was reduced to a crater
Then, it hurts him as a character to do this shit because you can't rellay have him say"Oh I was doing it all for the village," then have him doing things that are actively working against the benefit of the village. Like, the Uchiha massacre is one thing, that's a threat to the governing body of Konoha, I.E. him. But he was also blatantly working with the greatest threat to Konoha period(Giving him Shodaime cells, infinite sharingan to play with, Kabuto). And he was sending assassins after Hiruzen, which even if he seized power immediately after, that's still a huge detriment to Konoha's rep
Instead, let's imagine a world where he's downgraded a lot. Instead of the leader of an entire army, he was just Itachi's old racist sensei from when he was a genin. When Itachi dies, he says something like "Danzo sama warned me this is how this would end, but i have no regrets" and Sasuke, he's never heard of Danzo, but he can find out, and when he does, he finds an old shack on the outskirts of Konoha with no guards, no traps, just an old crippled man sitting on the porch. He offers Sasuke tea and invites him inside. "So... I take it my student has died? Shame, damn shame. He was a good shinobi. A bit soft, but he understood duty, devotion, how to turn off his emotions for the greater good. All the things a proper shinobi needs. When he came asking for advice on what to do about that clan of yours' coup, well i told him what's what. You can't let sentiment blind you, you have to abandon humanity to save it. I told him he couldn't let even a single one of you go, otherwise you'd just cause more trouble. You Uchiha, always talking about love and hate and devotion. PA! And now here you are, causing all sorts of ruckus. Well boy, here to kill me in the name of justice? Heh, no such thing in the shinobi world"
And Sasuke...doesn't. He doesn't see some warmongering monster or a new target of vengeance, he just sees an old man spewing hate and apathy as if it was something to be proud of, as if humanity itself was shameful. He sees what the shinobi world makes, what it keeps making, what he'll eventually turn into if he keeps being a shinobi. Well not him. Not anymore, his clan won't receive justice like this, he won't receive any happiness like this. Enough going after the outcomes, if the shinobi system is what's making these monsters then the very institution of shinobi is what he needs to destroy. Maybe after that he and his clan can find peace

Hanahaki
We all know that if the Uchiha lose someone they love, they tend to make it everyone else's problem. Since the Senju are supposed to parallel the Uchiha, this is somewhat of an inversion to that.
In this universe, the Senju, when unable or unwilling to confront the object of their affections, become their own problem.
Basically, their chakra rebels against them and standard hanahaki symptoms ensue: "flowers" made out of their chakra begin to grow in their lungs. This interferes with both their jutsu and their ability to breathe. The flowers represent the person they're in love with. This continues and worsens until.
A) They confess their feelings to the other person. Letting the feelings themselves flourish. B) Surgery is done to remove the chakra growths which represent their repressed emotions - also ridding them of said emotions.
Of course the we can draw from such a condition is that, in canon, Tobirama killing Izuna was a pure and honest expression of his love. Enough so that he recovered from his illness. Alternatively he slowly wasted away from years and the damage to his chakra network played a part in his eventual death.
Personally, I was thinking Izuna would be represented by red amaryllis or red carnations.
(PS: if you haven't read "For Adoration Grow" yet, go do that now)
Anyways, this is one I actually have a fanfic in the works for. Alas, Tobirama fails to convey his feelings via murder and has to deal with it the old fashion way (pining and repressing them).

Uchiha Head-canons pt. 2
A non exhaustive list of my favorite mostly old Uchiha HC’s from back before the manga was completed, and which still exist to me because canon never actually explicitly answered any of the questions:
The sharingan is a proper Divine Blessing/Curse, (somewhat confirmed by canon) in that it is borrowed power that has a somewhat separate Will of its own; it’s not exactly sentient, but it can respond to the emotional energy of its user independently of their conscious or logical desires, I.e. to defend them. Furthermore this is a large reason why the Uchiha face discrimination in the first place; when cornered or threatened, their eyes just do — there is no second guess or real conscience, their power will conjure up any visions of hell it so pleases to deter you from attacking or killing its host.
Secondary to this, since all sharingan can conjure Genjutsu, this is very typically the form in which defensive action takes place. It’s far worse if one has a mangekyou that specializes in it, like Itachi or Shisui, but ultimately all sharingan can and will react defensively by conjuring a Genjutsu.
Speaking of Shisui, one of my favorite HC’s about his name (meaning “still water/doldrum”) is that he got it for having been mistaken as stillborn. Dark, but suits him and his story just fine.
Itachi (meaning “weasel”) is named after Izuna (meaning “stoat”, and animal very like a weasel but tiny lol, they’re also called an ermine when they change colour in winter.)
As I’m sure many followers know by now, and as a repeat, I totally HC a strong prevalence of Autism in the Uchiha clan. It just explains so much.
On a related note (haha punny) I think it DOES in fact make sense for there to be an auspicious absence of anti-incest instinct in the Uchiha clan, because, yknow, it’s kind of integral to their continued existence. This theory gets a lot of crap from antis, but I’m not even a hard shipper really, I just think it suits the narrative implications. 🤷‍♀️
I don’t think I’ve seen this HC elsewhere but I’ve had it forever: awakening the sharingan too young is often fatal, AND there is such a thing as sharingan abilities too powerful for their user. Canon also sort of confirmed this later with Sasuke. But I’m talking like, a Mangekyou ability that will kill its host if they’re too young or too weak for it. Part and parcel of it being a supernatural power.
Speaking of narrative implications: Hyuuga and Uchiha blood don’t mix well. I personally like this explanation better than the whole vicious rivalry thing because that’s kind of counter to the whole founding point of Konoha???? So let there be an inciting cause: that for one reason or another, Hyuuga x Uchiha results in poor outcomes. Either it’s prone to rendering the offspring completely powerless, or it renders them too powerful for their own sake; either it results in most likely a Byakugan that’s un-turn-off-able, or it quite possibly results in a higher incidence of rinnegan, which might I remind you tends to kill its hosts.
Under similar pretense, Uchiha and Senju blood don’t particularly mix well either…except that they do, and that is precisely the problem. I’ve long HC’ed Kagami and Shisui as possessing Senju blood to explain their power differences. (And curly hair, maybe) Madara and Izuna too I wish to believe have Senju blood, perhaps more distantly, or else they’ve got Mystery Blood that’s not pure Uchiha. Which is deliberately very ironic lol.
As a final and very dark HC, the fact that Uchiha do canonically practice a form of selective breeding/eugenics means that the culls have to go somewhere. Given how valuable their genes are, as well as how very traditional, I imagine that they officially send their unwanted away to live better lives…which is to say that they might tell people that, and indeed some families probably did, but the real world historical precedent for this both in Japan and out has always been infanticide. 😢 I mean there’s also the precedent from families who didn’t agree with the practice, as I said, where they’d send their littles away, sometimes crippling them on purpose depending on why, (intentionally blinded Uchiha survivors, anybody?) which I also HC, but there is likely something of an unspoken assumption that kids who “just didn’t make it” were, in fact, murdered. The politics of this are interesting and very disturbing at the same time lol.
I’ll probably be back with round 3 at some point but for now have all the brainrot

hi listen i just had a divine intervention or smth lmk if you don't like it but
what if your team Ro time travel au + my time travel Tobirama
Team Ro would have memories of the canon and they got to this different timeline and there's Tobirama actively trying to seduce Uchiha fucking Madara. They didn't teach THAT in the Academy
They got in the time when Tobirama still orchestrated meetings, but Butsuma is already dead so if everything goes well, Tobirama would get Madara and peace soon.
And then there suddenly spawn a Hatake with a sharingan with 2 Uchiha kids and a Mokuton user. Political nightmare.
Later Tobirama recognises Kakashi and was like "The fuck? It's that Hatake from the war. What is he doing there, he should not have been born yet!!"
OHHH THATS SO GOOD THO???
I'm gonna be real I love the concept of "team ro time travel au but they time travel into someone else's time travel au," that's so good
If we go with your au, there's a really interesting immediate aspect of like: hey ! Tobirama might recognize Kakashi or maybe even Tenzo from the war, but these guys are way fucking younger than when they met !!!
Idk what exactly can be done with that but it's interesting to consider. Also Tobirama talked ab Itachi and his crimes before I'm p sure? So like he knows what happens to the Uchiha and that it was Itachi who did it for the village. I wanna see him faced w the kid who he once praised for slaughtering his own clan to prove his loyalty.
I wanna see him feel the consequences of the stress Itachi is under when he (and possibly Shisui) attempt to kill Madara.
Stop interfering with his fix it fic you brats!! He's already got it covered!! You're just causing a mess!!!!
They get zapped in, like, in the middle of Tobirama's happy ending epilogue too. Tobirama is peacefully eating dinner in his house w his new husband Madara thinking "well. Alls well that ends well." Then BOOM Kakashi Shisui Itachi and Tenzo crash out of fucking nowhere directly onto their table, getting covered in food and breaking the table in half
Immediatley arrested !! I feel like Tobirama would instantly understand what happened by recognizing their uniforms + potentially Kakashi + he's already a time traveler himself so it's really no stretch for him to go "oh fuck I didn't think we'd get a double jepordy in this bitch but I guess not"
But like it's not like he can just SAY that ? Or he could but it would bring a lot of questions he probably does not want to answer.
Now another problem arises in like. I don't think Tobirama is especially attached to any of these guys. I can see him maybe having a lingering "pay it forward ig" feeling just bc they're "loyal konoha soldiers" and it'd be a waste to let that resource just burn. But also like. Under no circumstances can Tobirama have these guys share certain aspects of future knowledge.
Tobirama worked so hard to get here !!!! Literal years of planning !!!! He got his happy ending and it very much rests on Madara staying safe and sane and NO ONE IMPLYING HE WILL BETRAY KONOHA EVER !!!!! Tobirama does not even wanna RISK that becoming a rumor, he will take no chances.
Anyways I think his best course of action would be to reveal himself as a time traveler specifically to team ro, then position himself as their hokage who they should remain loyal to, say that it is for Konoha's best interests that they do not reveal certain things, and play it by ear from there.
Tobirama deciding he can't risk team ro going forward in time again and potentially fucking up the time stream or smthn. They need to stay here. He can not risk losing this shit. Sorry guys it looks like your trapped here <3
Anyways team ro being scary loyal to him bc he is the closest approximation to their (current?) Hokage and only person w the knowledge to enforce that power over them (at this time)
In my original post, like, all of team ro are already established to be kind of at their worst and most loyal to the village at that point to. They are at THE age(s) to be manipulated like that tbh, rip
It's not too bad tho. I think Itachi would feel relieved but also very guilty. Shisui too. Tenzo is violently neutral bc hes still in his "learning to be a real boy" phase from root, but it's all positive for him tbh. Kakashi is tricky bc his mental state is the equivalent of someone rapidly bouncing a ball on a thin pane of glass trying to prove it's bullet proof (it's not) and has like MOUNTAINS of complexes around the words "konoha authority figure" and what he's leaving behind. He's probably the most determined to go back
Anyways uhh. Izuna gets Itachi to help him be skeptical of Tobirama and spy on him. Itachi only agrees bc he violently reminds him of Sasuke (this will develop into a complex if not stopped. Shisui is working on it.)

I got tagged by @spookysshadow 😌
Rules: share the first lines of ten of your most recent fics, and then tag ten people. If you have written less than ten, don't be shy and share anyway.
I am tagging: @sevenhelz @stygian-blu @tisslesu (I don't even know if yall write lol time to find out 💃)
Bad romance (Tobiizu)
Peace, as it turned out, was completely and utterly boring.  He was aware of what an insane thing that was to say; so he didn't. He kept it to himself like the proper little slave of the hokage he was, never complaining, only obeying.  That was a lie of course, but one Hashirama wouldn't dare to dispute. Insulting the Uchiha clan, after they'd finally made peace, was the least smart thing to do, and Hashirama was surprisingly smart for being such an idiot.  He still had no idea what Madara ever saw in the guy.  Tobirama, on the other hand, had turned out to be very—well, different than he'd expected. Interesting, in a way. On the battlefield he was always ruthless, cold, deadly—he knew best, since Tobirama had almost succeeded in killing him as well once—but now that there was peace, he'd turned out to be a huge nerd. A calm, gentle, nice nerd.  What the fuck.
F = G (m₁m₂) / r² (Tobiizu)
“This is a huge problem!” Izuna rolled his eyes.  Yes, yes it was. Were they only noticing this now, after eight hours of pure chaos? Eight hours of people running around screaming, fighting, accusing everyone and their mother of something they didn't even know had actually happened, and now they noticed things were getting out of hand?  Sometimes he wondered if he and his brother were the only ones in their family who had inherited any brain cells.  “What if we don't find the seal in time?!”  Izuna peeked at the guy in the back, who'd somehow had the gall to speak without permission, then at another, who jumped up to chime in as well: “What if another clan attacks us in this state?” Izuna just huffed. It wouldn't even need a clan; a pack of particularly aggressive dogs would be enough to eviscerate them right now.
Ballet X Cobbler AU (Tobiizu)
When they'd offered him the role, they had tried to lure him with promises of fame, of his photos on magazine covers, of him being declared a revolutionary, yes, finally someone to break traditional gender roles in modern ballet— And sure, all that sounded nice. Izuna liked being the center of attention, and he'd always wanted to try his hand at modeling, as well. He didn't care much about gender roles, or about being perceived as particularly manly, either.  But, really—it would have been sufficient for them to just mention their in-house cobbler was extremely hot.  He had somewhat of a reputation, Izuna soon found out; the girls were all gushing about him day in, day out, about his cool demeanor, his deep, smooth voice, his big, strong hands— And about how he never really seemed to be interested in anyone.  A weird thing to gush about, Izuna had thought at first, but after finally meeting the guy, he started to kind of understand. He had this aura about him; like a precious prize just waiting to be won, to be conquered, and whoever would manage to get his attention would absolutely win at life.  Suffice to say Izuna hadn't been laid in a very, very long time.
Izuna lives/madara dies AU (Izuna-centric)
“Izuna?” Silence. “Izuna, it's me. Tobirama.” Yeah, he was aware. He would know his voice from millions of others—him and his bastard of a brother had ruined his life multiple times over, after all. He wouldn't be able to forget their voices even if he tried. “The medics told me you're still refusing to take the bandages off.” “So?” Izuna finally grumbled, followed by an annoyed huff. What was it to him, anyways? Couldn't the guy fuck off to his shady little lab like always? “It's been two weeks.” Tobirama let out a sigh. “Stop being so stubborn. Take the bandage off. See.” “Fuck off!” Izuna just hissed, now finally sitting up in his bed, blindly reaching to where the bedside table would be—in hopes of finding something he could throw at Tobirama. Unfortunately, his room had been cleared out because he'd developed a tendency to do just that. Well, what other choice did he have to defend himself, since they'd put chakra seals all around? He heard another sigh from Tobirama, then some shifting around, and a single footstep— “If you come any closer I'll rip you to shreds.”

(Because I want Reina throwing the canon!verse into chaos)
"Absolutely not. I won't allow it!" Hiashi raged, slamming both hands onto the table.
"Unfortunately, we may have no choice. Konoha cannot afford another war at this moment." The Sandaime sighed, looking every single one of his years at that moment. "Not when we are still recovering from the Kyuubi attack."
"Still, what kind of precedence does this set? That we allow foreign nin to kidnap our children and steal our bloodlines, and yet we are the ones to pay retribution?" Inoichi asked sharply. "You say we cannot afford another war, but surely we also cannot afford to look this weak in front of our enemies."
"What Inoichi said. After what those bloodline-stealing, clouds-for-brains ninja tried to pull? If anything, they should be worried about us declaring war on them," Inuzuka Tsume snarled.
"This move buys us time while we build up strength," Utatane Koharu argued. She shot Hiashi a sharp look. "This wouldn't have been necessary had you the foresight to show a little restraint. I don't know what you were thinking, killing off a high-ranking Kumo nin with diplomatic immunity--"
"He took my daughter--"
"He was evidence--"
"Enough," Hizashi spoke up quietly. "If this will save lives and ensure the safety of the Byakugan, then I am willing. I can think of no more honorable way to serve my village and my clan."
"Try living," a new voice called from outside the doors, a split second before they opened and a vaguely familiar woman walked in. She was startlingly pretty, Hizashi couldn't help but notice-- delicate, almost elvish features, bluish-black hair tied up in a casual twist, deep blue eyes with a hint of mischief within.
Amidst all the ninja stiffening in alarm, Hizashi noticed Uchiha Fugaku letting out a low groan, pinching the bridge of his nose in an uncharacteristic display of emotion.
"Kobayashi-san," the Hokage said, eyeing her with...wariness? What was going on? "This is a classified meeting."
"Yes, you really do need to work on your security seals, Sandaime-sama, they're terribly outdated," she mused. "I do apologize for the intrusion but I admit to feeling rather worried after I overheard this esteemed council seriously consider handing one of Konoha's most valuable dojutsu over to Kumo on a silver platter." She clasped her hands behind her back, offering him a falsely bright smile. "As a tax-paying citizen of Konoha, you'll take my concerns into consideration, I hope."
Across the table, Nara Shikaku snorted at the blatant sarcasm in those words.
"Reina-san--" Fugaku growled. The woman--Reina-- waved at him cheerfully.
"Hi Fugaku-san! Mikoto-chan would like you to pick up some tomatoes on your way back. Sasuke-kun got into the pantry again, so we're out." She shook her head fondly. "That boy, honestly. I don't know what to do with him."
Next to him, Hiashi choked on his spit while most of the room stared at her in disbelief (with the exception of Tsume, who was currently stiffing her laughter behind a fist). With an abrupt start, Hizashi remembered where he'd seen this woman before. It had been a popular topic of gossip the past few days, when the Uchiha Matriarch had, seemingly out of nowhere, struck up a close friendship with a civilian woman who made a living decorating cakes and cookies.
Hizashi glanced at the woman standing calmly in front of them, having effortlessly broken into one of Konoha's most secure buildings, completely unconcerned by being in a room full of Konoha's most powerful and influential ninja.
If she was a civilian, he'd eat his shoes.
"We wouldn't be 'handing the Byakugan over on a silver platter,' girl," Danzo scoffed, narrowing his eyes. "Don't speak of things you don't understand."
"Oh? Because by my understanding, you were planning on sacrificing Hizashi-san's life for his brother's and just hoping the Caged Bird Seal does its job and prevents Kumo from utilizing the Byakuyan," she said sweetly. "The problem with that plan, of course, is that the Caged Bird Seal is an absolute atrocity and an embarrassment to fuuinjutsu, designed by someone who cared more about enslaving his family members than actually protecting his bloodline."
"The Caged Bird Seal is infallible," Hizashi interjected before he could stop himself, voice hoarse. It was infallible because it had to be-- because if it could fail, then his and his son's suffering meant nothing.
An unreadable expression crossed her face.
"Is it?" She asked softly. "Why don't you ask your son that?"
She turned towards the door.
"Neji-kun, come inside for a moment, will you?"
His son walked inside, forehead bare as the day he was born, and Hizashi's world shattered.
~~
"How? How did you remove the Caged Bird Seal?!"
"What, like it's hard?"
~~
"So you've proven that the Caged Bird Seal can be removed," Danzo glared at her. "That does not solve our problem; in fact, it worsens it."
"Danzo is right," the Sandaime agreed. "Kumo will still demand payment in blood and--"
"No, they won't." Reina tilted her head to the side. "Oh, I probably should have started with that. Yeah, they retracted their demand for Hyuuga-san's life, and send along their most sincere apologies for what happened, and their most sincere assurances that they had no idea their head ninja was planning such a thing, blah, blah, blah. You're welcome."
There was a long silence. It was the first time Hizashi had ever seen Sarutobi Hiruzen speechless. He probably would have enjoyed it more had he not been so focused on keeping his own mouth from dropping open.
"Um, excuse me. What?" Inoichi asked, sounding as gobsmacked as Hizashi felt.
"How the hell did you manage that?" Tsume exploded.
"Passed along a message?" Reina shrugged. "Although to be honest, it wasn't so much the content of the message as much as the method of delivery."
"Reina-san," Fugaku said, voice low and laced with dread. "What did you do?"
She grinned, twirling around a very familiar looking kunai-- one that Konoha hadn't seen in a very long time. Next to him, Hiashi drew in a sharp breath.
"Did you know A has one of these just lying around in his office? Probably in an attempt to deconstruct it. But oh man, you should have seen his face when I popped in!" She laughed. "Or should I say, flashed in. Never seen a man turn white so quickly! That was totally worth the motion sickness."
Kumo, after Reina breaks into their Kage’s office with an S-Class jutsu that was thought extinct but still gives like half the ninja world PTSD: I’m sorry Konoha, I wasn’t familiar with your game
(In Reina's world, there's like half a dozen people who know the Hiraishin, although obviously Minato's the best at it. Reina learned because after what happened with Obito and Rin, she wanted a way to teleport instantly to her precious people in order to provide emergency medical care (she also was on standby while Minato was developing it, just in case of any teleporting mishaps/he ended up needing any limbs reattached). She doesn't use it for combat though and dislikes using the jutsu as it gives her motion sickness. Kushina also technically knows it but doesn't have the chakra control to use it effectively. Kakashi and Orochimaru also know how to use it, and Minato plans on teaching Naruto one day as well. Which is a sharp contrast to the canon world, where the number is like zero).
