"Why did Tears of the Kingdom have a development cycle just as long as Breath of the Wild's even though it reused so many assets?" is a question that I think fundamentally misunderstands how modern game design works

It assumes that the team does something like all sit down, develop the physics engine, then they can move on to the overworld map, then they can move on to making the cutscenes, etc. and when you think about that for just a second it becomes obviously absurd. Developing a physics engine, writing dialogue, creating textures, designing puzzles, and so on are all different disciplines that different specialists work on in parallel and in cooperation

What probably actually happened is a lot of the artists, engine devs, and so on put a lot less time into the project, before/while working on a bunch of different projects at Nintendo (quite possibly including the engine and art for the next Zelda game), and they also probably didn't need to get Monolith Soft to help design the overworld. Meanwhile, the puzzle designers, writers, and a lot of the rest of the team have to do just as much work as they did for Breath of the Wild (or more!), and so it's not that surprising that it took just as long

(Disclaimer that I don't know for certain that this is how it happened internally at Nintendo, and short of interviewing the devs I don't think there's any way to find out. The credits won't help because close to all of the people who moved on to other teams either worked on TotK for part of the development and/or had their work ported over from BotW. This is just my understanding of how modern AAA game development works)

Some part of me thought that I was mentally hyping up the security job too much, that there were other factors at play and I was blaming a lot of mostly unrelated stressors on having a bad job and that I would be very disappointed when I got a security job that it wasn't solving as many problems as I expected it to.

But you know today and yesterday I went into the kitchen and washed dishes for reasons other than, "I am very hungry, don't have money for delivery, and cannot physically cook without these specific dishes." I even washed some dishes as soon as I finished using them.

This may be like, a hideously low bar. But it's something I literally could not have imagined myself doing in February.

I'm such a "if you just swipe it away it's gone" person, it's terrible, what do you mean if I brush crumbs from the table they're on the floor and I then need to clean the floor? What do you mean if I constantly put the rest of food down the drain I'll eventually have a drain clogged with horrible slime? What do you mean you have to take the trash out? What do you mean vacuum bags get full eventually? None of this should happen. You shouldn't have to clean brushes or dishrags, they should just be clean bc they are for cleaning. What do you mean you have to switch out toothbrushes? Don't get me started on having to clean showers, this is all ridiculous

I've always HATED being a debbie downer so I never stoop that low and pull that shit, ruining the fun for everyone. Not everyone who hates certain fanon depictions are out to be a fandom police and be an asshole to every fan/shipper neither we want to cancel someone's entire existence either.

Sometimes people just want to be a public hater for a bit for like, 5 mins and then move on with their life, never focusing on one thing they hate again forever. Sometimes people just want to get things off of their chest for once instead of bottling it up inside of them for an eternity, driving them insane because they just don't have anyone to talk or rant to. (And besides, it's actually unhealthy if you keep bottling up your emotions :p )

Life is short. Let out your opinions and distastes and get shit off of your chest.

And honestly, as long as you don't tag your hate/complaints into character or ship tags and either censor out the names or vague post about it, then we should be good. Don't be a debbie downer and rain on other people's parades. On the other hand, it's always better off to just literally block anyone for having "dogshit" takes/opinions and go on with your life. Sometimes a random's stranger on the internet takes is not worth your time diving into and arguing.
