Thinking about how dca would always feel incomplete. How tech always gets old and impractical and needs to be upgraded again and again and again, because the world around is changing all the time but they don't.

You also change.

They feel a weird combination of pride and jealousy. You change on your own. You, a human being, something so fragile and breakable in their eyes, can change however you want. Whenever you want.

It's in your nature.

They, on the other hand, are created by your folk's hands. Their only nature is to obey those hands. To rust until you say otherwise.

just so you know, you don’t own any of the material you post so no one can ~steal it from you. even if you choose to spend hours searching for shit, that’s your choice to do so, and it still doesn’t mean it’s yours in any way. others are allowed to take the same material and post it themselves if they want to. it’s not yours, you don’t own any copyright on it, you didn’t create it, it’s not an original work like a fan art or a gif set, so credit is not required. and tbh the actual owner of the photos and stuff could say the same things you are, that you are taking their material and they would actually have a leg to stand on because it actually belongs to them. the aggressive attitude you’ve shown to the other update account since the start has squashed any goodwill that could have existed between the both of you had you just been normal about it all, then maybe they would reblog you and stuff. instead you chose to be territorial and nasty about it instead of realizing there is plenty of room in the sandbox for everyone

not dogs, but work stuff driving me insane rn: the enshittification of all our crucial and most used programs as person working for local government.

1.) it's so clear that so many of these companies did not hire UX designers whatsoever or anybody that is meant to give any consideration to usability of the program. why must we take everything that had a relatively neutral colored but non-white background with the fields being white boxes with lots of space to breathe and turn it all into the same horrible on my eyes white background with white fields (hard to use) that bump right up against each other (hard to use)??? These are programs i have to look at most of my day. i do not want them white on white. my eyes are searing just thinking about it. LET YOUR DATA FIELDS FUCKING BREATHE.

2.) the deletion of crucial infrastructure within the programs we use and eliminating administrative control. i. am. the head of my department! i need administrative control.

3.) lack of consideration to towns that aren't city/county populations. yeah in place with a million people you might have users doing it one way but you can't JUST cater to that and eliminate the older process that works for smaller towns/villages.

like i don't know what back end the older programs/portals were made with, they certainly look "more outdated" than the new versions but they are honestly so much more functional and pleasant to look at. the new ones seem to all be made with the same drag and drop back end and it's driving me to insanity because it's so limited it what it can make. and what it does make? Is ugly and extremely hard on my eyes.

It’s funny that a bunch of my coworkers older than me don’t know how to do basic stuff on computers and I also know my future coworkers younger than me (hell, even half my classmates in college) who were raised on phone apps won’t know how to do basic stuff on computers. So somehow me having the understanding of file trees, where our cloud saves are located, basic functions of Microsoft office programs, how to change settings, basic troubleshooting, and the ability to look things up if I don’t know how to do them apparently puts me above most people in my workplace when it comes to technology. And by “funny” I meant very frustrating

there’s well worn mountain lion paths going to our birds complete with scat and feathers and im just like. fuck man I love my turkeys more than anything and I don’t want to give up on having them but the money it takes to fucking MOUNTAIN LION PROOF shit… we know they climb the coop. idk how long it will take before the learn how to get the door open at this rate. idk if I don’t get this livestock conservancy grant to improve the coop idk what the fuck im gonna do. coyotes, raccoons, opossums, they’re all manageable. but fucking returning mountain lions, probably breeding nearby…. does anyone wanna give me 20k to install 6 foot fucking fences
