Nothing much to add here tbh. I'll try to take picture of the progress for each day to document it for future projects so honestly this is just for me to keep track of my speed lmao.

And for this one instance they don't even have the decency to dye it continously, no they just fucking tie the different colours together TT

Now I know why the yarn only cost 8 euros compared to the 22 euros from my other scarf... I though it was just super discounted OTL

Well, no going back now. It will turn out differently than I expected but at least the colours are still pretty.

In your Ninjago movie au, I’m really curious about Jaya if Jay and Blue are like different people.

OK so with jaya- yeah jay is 2 different people in a sense. Movie jay is very shy and seems pretty nervous in most scenes we see of him in the movie. I thought this was a really interesting divergence to his character that i wanted to explore a little more and as I was thinking about it I realized I could give him his show counterparts personality as well.

I established that the reason he is so shy was because he used to be bullied when he was younger which led to him having self esteem issues as well as social anxiety.

The reason he got bullied was because of his identity - his family and homelife being something he was both known and teased for in his old school. I realized that if he was a ninja, he had a mask, nobody knew who he was and he could just show himself off without that worry of getting bullied for it then he would be a lot more confident.

He already seems to hide himself a lot- bangs that cover the top half of his face (something that they added in his new design that's very different then his og hair) and a scarf that covers the bottom of his face which reminded me of that episode where him and nya went on a date but he was slowly turning into a snake so he used a scarf to cover up cause he wanted to look his best infront of her. So having a full on mask would make that constant effort to hide himself less of a stressor.

Now with nya! Interestingly enough it seems like they were gonna go a different route with her character-

She was gonna be well accomplished at school but unlike show nya she would be uncomfortable with the attention that was drawn to her achievements instead of prideful Of it. I wanted to keep that bit about her being a top star student cause that's very nya like.

When it came to jaya i wanted to have roles flipped a little. Movie jay keeps to himself and is in his own bubble (kinda anti social) so he doesn't notice nya in class.

Jay likes cyan however. He thinks she's the coolest person in the group and she motivates him to do better whenever she starts getting pumped up and ready to train.

Her enthusiasm is contagious to him and while she teaches him stuff about weaponry that she learned from her parents and from her own research he teaches her more about gadgets since nyas a bit of a beginner in my verse (she's in the robotics club but mini robots is all she's ever built, so jay teaches her some more advanced stuff and helps her with her projects.)

Jay falls for nyas personality without knowing what she looks like or who she is. He just likes "cyan".

So in my au nya gets a crush on both blue and Jay. She likes blue because she doesnt have to try and be over the top, riding motorcycles through the school halls to be seen as cool. She doesn't have to be student of the month to be seen as smart and respected. She just is all of those things naturally to him. She likes Jay because he's kind, he's dedicated and smart. He's so different from the chaos that she surrounds herself with and it feels like she's just a teen girl with a crush on the cute, quiet boy in the back of the class. It makes her feel normal.

I wanted to show that Jay likes nya outside of just her looks. He really respects her and her achievements, he sees her as a strong ninja and as someone he can be himself around cause his more extroverted side meshes we'll with hers.

Nya likes both sides of Jay, she loves the loud extroverted side of him that's funny and hypes her up and will be just as over the top as she is at times. Someone who's a lot like her. Someone who risks his life next to hers as they go on missions to save the city before heading back to go eat dinner side by side. She loves blue. She loves the insecure and shy pretty boy in her class who matches her intellect. Who comes from the middle of nowhere and has kooky parents that immediately hug her the second they see her walking to their home to pick up their son. She loves Jay walker.

finally finished that triangle scarf i've been working on forever!! i'm so glad the yarn held through, i was scared i'd run out on the last two rows but no! yay! this is my biggest crochet project so far i think, i'm not sure how long it took me but it's about 500 metres of yarn and i'm not sure what else to write about it.

Grey Kirigami

It's done! I need to block the textured yoke but I've worn it twice and i'm very happy with it!

Lento

This is such a quick knit. I started on Tuesday and just separated for the sleeves. It's a very popular pattern with a very open gauge so i'm interested to see how it wears. The yarn is knitpicks aloft in Labyrinth and Holst Garn Supersoft in sage blue which is a beautiful combination, but the supersoft is not yet soft and the aloft has broken twice so that's kind of annoying.

Go Go Dynamo Shawl

Didn't do too much on this this week, another triangle done so we're halfway through the bottom bind off. Maybe I'll focus on this in the afternoon because I love it and I want it DONE.

Grey Gradient Scarf

There's a bit of progress, I'm back on the white section and nearly done this ball of yarn (i have two cakes from one ball of Lion Brand Scarfie. It was too big for my winder).

Homegrown Sweater

I saw Conclave and Wicked (again) this week so the body has been my movie theatre knitting. The body is at 8/10" so maybe one more movie and I'll be on the ribbing (and then I have to finish the sleeve)

Secret Project

This is maybe only exciting to me but I started a new long-term project. I'll be sharing it on my raverly, but not much here unfortunately. But I am very excited!!!

I found this yarn and the clearance bin at Michael's. It was clearly a little dirty but nothing that couldn't be washed off. I rarely use multicolored yarn because it never works up the way that it looks in the skein and it's hard to predict what a project will look like.

I decided to sort the colors using different stitches and textures while knitting a triangle shaped scarf. Each half uses texture in 2 colors while leaving the others alone. The texture is only visible on the front side, so the reverse is left showing only purple or green tones.

I don't have a pattern for this, project. It's just based on a set of color rules. You can experiment with some multicolored yarn By assigning a specific stitch to a color and seeing what happens. You'll probably get an interesting result. If you're in the Tacoma area and want to take a class with me on this topic I'm teaching it at Red Alder next week.

Did some redesign mock-ups for Ec-4o.verse Cross, Fresh, and Error!

These guys didn't really *need* redesigns but I was having a ball with Trech (Ec-4o!Fresh) and gave him Arcade Carpet designs and decided I needed to redesign some others too! (Check below the cut for Old Designs, Lore, and a Stupid Screenshot from my pal @/Neonsix67)

So OLD DESIGNS:

So, old art, yucky, whatever. We know the drill lmao- but because Ec-4o.verse is such an ongoing project these guys have been through a bunch of redesigns. Regrettably, me from 2 years ago was unaware of Layering and Shape Language, so they look kinda gross.

Cross' design has consistently been my favorite I think, just because he was a later addition and so had a bunch of my newer ideas integrated. They all have their flaws tho (Cross was too lean and got thrown between Baby and Grown Guy too often in my art. Error uhhh... yeesh. When I say I couldn't draw him, I meant it. I never knew what to do with his wires and I kept putting him in armor? Fresh just wasn't fleshed out enough. He was that SparkleDog of my verse.)

Also: I wanted Fresh to be top-heavy, like, big baggy round clothes on his upper half then lil guy legs. Cross I wanted to be more flat and strict, hense his clothes being all Tube-shaped. Then Error needed Triangle vibes. His old design was too Rectangle for me. The exposed limbs are mostly just for me because I love a-symmetry and also I don't keep a consistent clothing style, so I like to keep a visually interesting element (like a limb) exposed for clarity's sake when I draw them in new poses later.

LORE:

Cross: A robot (Ecto) who was initially a Guard-Model ecto. He was one of the last to be turned over when the government was rallying citizens to donate their bots to fight in the war. He was remodeled and supplied with a special task by his Programmer: Protect THE FILES at all costs. He's rather small for a guard-bot, but makes up for it with his agility and sheer stubbornness. Blue finds him heavily damaged and on low battery in an old lab, guarding a room that was sealed tight. His Old design utilized Shields (scarf detached to become them) but his new design is much more focused on quick bursts of offense. If he gets you first, then you're no longer a threat.

Error: an Ecto who was one of the first bots handed over. He was a former data storage bot that worked at a small library. As one of the first data-bots to come in, he was immediately modified and put to work alongside other Ectos to compile all of the nation's history into their data banks. Error was particularly receptive to overloads of data, so he continued to be modified and made into the prime data-bank. When the war started, he was eventually hidden away and sealed in an air-tight room. Eventually Cross was sent to guard the door. They were eachother's only company for... years? Error isn't fond of touch or tampering with hid systems, as everything he knows is barely abd haphazardly stored on unsafe files. Each Crash he endures takes more and more of his own personal data away, and he refuses to lose any more.

Fresh (Trech): A Parasite that was created by Sci to repair living beings in the same way that an Ecto can auto-repair itself. Fresh is actually a liquid that, when placed in contact with a wounded/dying person, it can invade their systems and stop all forms of bleeding/dusting. Fresh wasn't supposed to be sentient, and was meant to be scrapped, but he ended up being vital in stopping the war. In turn, Sci granted him freedom. Fresh can inhabit humans, monsters, and Ectos, but prefers skeleton monsters. He often defies the logic of his world, but what Fresh doesn't? Blue meets him far into the story after he's unraveled a lot of mysteries. Fresh just drops by after hearing rumors of Blue's repair work, and is met by less-than-warm reception from Error and Geno.

Other:

I was trying to save the image and my phone was bugging out, so I sent it to Neon. Safe to say she has peak comedic timing 😌💖 (For the record, we are both adults, and also my parents are aware I draw utmv stuff, so she had to make the threat actually a threat lmao---) I also love Chilchuck talking with the Operator. We are the dynamic duo frfr.

Tilting at Windmills Scarves

Hello. I’ve been publishing knitting patterns now for a little more than five years. This is the first design I published: my Tilting at Windmills Scarves.

They may look a little basic at first glance, but everything about the design was deliberate. I set out to produce the longest scarf I could from one 100 gram ball of worsted weight yarn. I came up with two shapes, both of which are six ft / 183 cm long. The trapezoid is 7 in / 18 cm across at its widest and uses 200 yds / 183 m. The triangle is 9 in / 23 cm across at the peak and uses 220 yds / 201 m. Both shapes taper to a blunt point at the end, so that in your coat they are less bulky and wrapped around your neck like a cowl the ends are easier to tuck in.

The pattern stitch may look complicated, but it’s really just knit back and forth in rows, and the regular geometric design is broadly appealing. There is a right side to this design and a wrong side, but you don’t see very much of a difference at a distance.

Like any knitted project, your choice of yarn will affect the way it looks. I’ve knit it in this solid green and this dusty rose, which show the pattern stitch very nicely. I’ve knit it in natural colors which, depending upon how you style it can be more casual or formal. I also think it’s fun to knit in multicolor yarns with long color runs for just a really fun result. And it’s a good stash buster because if you start out in one colorway and run out, you can just finish in something that coordinates. This is actually very striking when worn.

We have reached the second colour! Hurray! Unfortunately I didn't make much progress otherwise because I lost the flow and was lowkey busy with writing, gaming and art lmao.

Yeah, no big change i'm afraid OTL I'm more focused on writing now, so this is taking a bit of a backseat. Also, I'm at the point where finishing a row takes a bit, so there's less instant satisifcation for progress lmao

what did reloh look like before getting changed(eye and stuff)? and what would he look like if he didn’t come out wrong like you said he did

I actually just made a ref for pre-modification Reloh recently— this would have been shortly after he began living on Popstar.

Basically just repeating my notes from when I shared him on Discord… Well ok actually I’ll explain a bit about my hc for Dark Matter formation, specifically how it works for blade-bearers/those with a “Swordsman” form like DMS. They start out as larger versions of the true form(basically just an eye with the petal-like projections) but over time, and before becoming distinct entities, they’ll gradually develop other kinds of “tissue” that makes up more complex structures like clothing, armor, weapons, etc., all of which start out as the same kind of stuff as the “petals”. The mask forms first to protect the eye and gradually takes on metallic properties; usually their weapon will form at around the same time, growing from the “belly” portion of their body and turning into the same metal-like material. That’s also when hands will begin to form, though this won’t be visible as their hands are indistinguishable from the main body at that point and can freely separate or merge with it as needed once the individual is mature.

Cloaks will develop next, beginning as a fully attached structure that’s essentially just a tube of fabric the same color as the “trim” at the front; the trim itself will form like a strip, with the rest then changing to its final color, though sometimes the trim will also change, I.E. DMS has the red and yellow triangles but the rest of their cloak is off-white. Once fully developed and after gaining color(which varies significantly between individuals) the trim will separate down the middle, forming the front of the cloak. Armor will start to form not long after the cloak does, as it will originally be part of it before separating out, hardening significantly after taking on its shape. These are what makes up a “basic” Swordsman, with anything else that forms stemming from any of the above parts, I.E. DMS’ mantle formed from the cloak, the DMS in Mass Attack’s necklace formed from their pauldrons, etc.

Basically, think of all of this as like how stem cells differentiate into other cell types; in this case it’s more like stem cells differentiating into slightly more specific stem cells that can then either further develop into more specific things or remain as-is. Everything is part of their body regardless even when it isn’t directly attached.

So, then, why does Reloh look like that? Simply put he didn’t quite cook long enough. As a result, while he has a distinct cloak, the front didn’t fully separate like it should have, only getting most of the way there before stopping. This partly contributes to his unusual shape, as it led to mild constriction around that point that obstructed the growth of his lower half. He would have had pauldrons like DMS, but they stopped forming not long after getting differentiated from the cloak, ending up as the maroon “fabric”; the only indication that those portions would have been something else are the fact that the fabric is stiff and naturally takes on the unusual shape it does. He wouldn’t have had a scarf/mantle to begin with(for reference that’s like the purple fabric DMS has between their pauldrons) so it being absent isn’t actually a “defect”, but it does make the failed division much easier to see. Similarly him being just a little guy isn’t a “defect” either, he would’ve been smaller than average regardless.

His colors were originally more or less indistinguishable from any other Dark Matter, with the green tint only starting to appear after he’d started living on Popstar. It became more pronounced over time on its own and he still has no clue why. His eye color also changed, originally being the same shade of orange as any other Matter. Sticking to the face, his mask formed normally so there’s nothing really wrong with it; technically he has a sword and not a dagger, but the blade ended up being so small that it doesn’t really read as a sword. The handle/hilt formed properly and actually has a small green gem set in it. The gem was originally gray(or more of a very pale blue really) but actually changed color with him, and at a much faster rate. (It’s actually why A Certain Individual made his default eye color green.)

As for how he would have looked if he had time to develop more? I dunno. Try asking this guy, maybe they have some answers.
