Propogation in a Jar - Update

maybe im overthinking, but do you ever think abt how in episode 1, utena justifies wearing the boys uniform by saying its not against the rules? while this was clearly a "gotcha" moment against that stuffy teacher, i feel like it also shows how shes still functioning within the parameters of the ohtori system. like, yeah, shes being rebellious, but its a form of rebellion that isnt actually revolutionary- shes still following the rules propagating the structure built around the patriarchal prince, shes just doing it in the "opposite" way of whats expected, but shes not actually fighting it. though, of course, even this much deviance still tries to get corrected... its still not against the rules. i feel like from the beginning we're told aspiring to princedom isn't a noble goal, and that utena is still part of the system as long as she pursues it

good morning, thanks to @plusdedragonne i am Thinking™️about things, but like.

you know, emmrich said if he hadn't ended up a necromancer with the mourn watch he'd have liked to have been a botanist, which is all well and good, and he clearly has, like. the ability to identify plants and that's great and all, i guess.

but like. i question whether he'd' be very good at growing plants. he's such a fussbucket, i feel like he'd be a poker and a prodder at everything and wouldn't leave them be, and speaking anecdotally the key to my success has been:

+ at least try to plant things together that wear a get along shirt + throw seeds in dirt + say good luck + leave them mostly the fuck alone outside of watering and the occasional snip as needed

and i honestly don't think he could do that. the leave them alone part, that is. and they'd never be quite as bushy and healthy as they could be.

Repotted most of my plants today and the multiple trips to carry all 20 of them back upstairs just about took it out of me.. turns out getting exhausted easily really is the last thing to go after being sick. I'm trying so hard to not freak out and convince myself that I'm gonna have long covid lol

On the plus side, I divided a couple of my aloes that had pupped and gotten super long and gangly over the winter out into a bunch of little temporary pots to see if they'll actually survive. If yes I'm hoping I can sell them at my aunt and uncle's big garage sale later in the summer. Or honestly just give them away.. I got too manyyyyy

PROPaGATION Unveiling

As promised, I put my propagation stand together and popped some new rose bush cuttings in for a bit, just until I get them properly situated. Fingers are crossed on this one. The cuttings are from my favorite rose bush at my dad’s house.

Hubby got me some beautiful roses when we moved into the new house. I’m trying to propagated them into rose bushes. They have already started to grow new leaves. They are a mix of cream, white, red, and pink. Unfortunately I don’t remember which steam is which. So it will be a surprise when/if they grow as to what color they will be.
