This morning was one of those days where I had zero motivation to go workout. I am depleted, the low calories are taking their toll and my body is simply trying to persuade me to rest instead of work. It's days like these where discipline, built with long-term consistency, takes over. . I get to the gym, do a few ramp up sets of my first lift to get ready for my working sets, and after setting up the plates I glance down at the goals for my sets. Each workout I copy the routine for that day from the previous week and either increase the reps for each set by 1 or increase the weight and drop the reps by 2 or 3. I knew hitting the rep goal would set a new PR, so I give it my best and hit what I THOUGHT the goal should have been. When I went to record the completed set I realized that I looked at the wrong set when determining the goal. A T-Bar Row at 185 x11 would have been a PR. I somehow grabbed the target rep number from the second set, that was 20 lbs lighter (reverse pyramid sets). Soooo, I ended up doing 185 x13. 🙌🏻. . Needless to say, this changed my mood and put a smile on my face. It really helped me to fight through how tired I felt and I ended up setting new personal records on every lift. 💪🏼 This morning helped remind me of how important discipline and resolve really is. (Especially when cutting! 😆) . Establish discipline.
