Ok so a while back I had a conversation with my friend's aunt. She's a trans woman well into her 50, who has kids and grandkids, and she came out when she was in her 40's. Me and my friends were talking about our queer space, and mentioned the well known "token cishet man"

Now, I'm sure most of us have that guy in our friend group, and it was common for us to just call him the straight guy. But my friend's aunt offered a different perspective ; she once was that token cishet man in a queer group of friends. Getting categorized so strongly as "the cis straight guy" made it harder for her to come out and accept herself. Since that talk with her, I've been careful about it, and guess what? Two women I've once called "the straightest person I know" (different occasions, and it was high school) now have girlfriends! You literally cannot know if someone is queer, and honestly most people are not the straight cisest person out there.

Anyways I'm not very articulate and English is not my friend but like I think everyone would benefit from being a little more careful about the way we treat our "token straight guy", she might be thankful later!

..... We've decided we want to start a youtube channel. About plurality. Mostly, about our plurality and Alterhumanity- just documenting our experiences. We're looking into plural history and resources, so we feel we know the community better before stepping onto a platform and talking more about the topic so we don't make total idiots of ourselves but...

Hoo boi. This is stressful. I still don't have a single idea for what sort of things we would post. So many of us experience dysphoria about the body, our voice included, that makes this so very far out of our comfort zone. But we want to do it.

That doesn't mean it's not intimidating as fuck, and that we won't complain EVERY step of the way. Everything is currently pointing towards this but I swear we're getting dragged through this like a toddler getting dragged somewhere they don't wanna be.

currently watching: Phineas and Ferb just dropped 10 new episodes and I'm almost through them all. Which is great, because that K-Pop Demon Hunter show coming out in a few weeks is going to take up some watch time soon enough.

currently reading: I'm a little in between books at the moment, but I am doing a fic reading challenge this year (fanfic-reading-challenge on here for those who might want to join in, it's not too late and it is a lot of fun!) so I'm nearly 8 million words of fanfic in on the year and read about ~85,000 or so of those last night across a few fics, though I'm taking a small break this weekend to at least attempt to write.

current obsession: making my fic tracking spreadsheet aesthetic and organized as fuck (and my procreate brushes). Watching my cat play with her squid toy because she's being absurdly cute about it. Debating whipping out my very involved knowledge of Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory (Laura Fermi was my first celebrity crush among other reasons) to work it into a Hunger Games fic because it's located in what becomes 3 officially and it seems a bit questionable to me that the Capitol would just blow up their district officially devoted to nuclear research (13) and then not even bother looking into reactivating the Tevatron (I also have strong thoughts about the location of 13 canonically, because I don't understand why it wouldn't include Oak Ridge, the Tevatron, or even more defunct Manhattan Project era sites, but that's a different tangent).

last google: 'cyanide'. It wasn't even for a fic or anything, I was just on a random deep dive on the Chicago Tylenol Murders and decided that obviously it could only be satisfied by learning about the chemical composition of the different types of cyanide suspensions. I never claimed to make any sense, just to be a nerd.

currently working on: clicking open just about every WIP I have figuring out which ones I am most motivated to work on at the moment. Trying to get better at linework so I can post sketches instead of spending so much time going all out on the infinity layers of vague painting adjacent digital art because I have ideas for art and it takes forever and a half getting things right that way for me at the moment.
