Angsty bsd theory time:

Awhile ago I saw someone mention that Dazai is a Time looper

It could explain how Beast Dazai saw parts of his memories up to a certain point

Desire to diҽ could be struggles w/not giving into attҽmpts that lead to the dҽath of his loops at that moment

It's stated all universes follow the same chronological time of the OG universe, it may be how B!Zai saw memories of certain events, wanted to change it.

Maybe B!Z has memories of another loop Since he knew he'd diҽd anyway, he saw nothing more for himself after a certain point

Dazai rҽliving these ҽvents also make his ҽxperiences that happen before defecting a truly Dark Era Each call to oblivion is a loop where things were too much, he ҽnded it His predictions are helped with knowledge of past loops. Dazai appears nearly omniscient at some points

Quick Thoughts on Agatha All Along episode 4 (before 5)

Okayyyy this was a bit later than I expected (got my phone stolen in Italy so I have been dealing with that) so this post will be relatively short (as short as my obsession for Agathario goes…).

I’ll start with what I wanted to point out:

Agatha trying to get everyone to move on from burying Sharon — with good reason (if you read theories or the funko spoilers) you probably have a good idea as to what Agatha was trying to avoid.

It’s the little flower wiggle that sends me— I really wish I knew how to make gifs cuz I really need that bit as a gif T^T

But also Agatha just fucking ready to kill her and the other people were like “no we just summoned her, we need her.” XDDD

I digress— I need to keep this moving cuz I need sleep. So to finish that whole thought:

“May she be smart and not annoying. And also not super political.”

^ poor Alice was she in pain or something? And Agatha I see youuuu

But I also will not stop laughing at Jen saying “Agatha what did you do?” As Rio came out of the ground and Agatha was like “it was a group effort”

“I don’t know if I hate her or if I want her phone number?” OK THIS WHOLE COVEN IS QUEER AND I AM HERE FOR IT. Also love that’s Lupone improvised “what a scary bitch”

Just icing on the cake at this point.

^ yeah Rio was having too much fun over there while everyone else was fighting for their lives and dealing with trauma (especially Alice and Teen).

I really liked the Witch’s Ballad cover and the fact that the ballad was made into a protection spell by Alice’s mother to protect her daughter. Alice’s voice towards the end of the song hits really hard for me in the feels. And yes I have listened over 12 times to this cover auuuuuh it’s so good.

But to just sum up some more thoughts- I read an interesting theory that the trials are in order of a woman’s life cycle— it’s even mentioned in the ballad -> “Maiden Mother Crone”. So by that logic I’m assuming Agatha’s trial is literally episode 5 and yes I will hopefully organize myself better for this episode.

Anyone wanna tell me why this lemur only ever gives herself 3 seconds to feel sad before shoving it away?

You could easily argue that this is Tangle being mature. Putting aside how she feels, stopping herself from dwelling about the past for too long. Which is a noble trait to have to an extent.

Like, those were both instances where she saw people die (only supposedly in issue 60’s case but still). Yes, good for her that she’s pushing herself to focus on her task at hand, but like, Tangle, no one was gonna penalize you for taking 57 more seconds to cry😭

As I’ve said before, it really depends on how frequently she does this to determine how good or bad this behavior is for her.

Another thing, Tangle is known for being a very expressive, very emotional and emotionally-driven character. It’s interesting that she can also be so eager to gulp it back down when the big sad feels come up. And do it so quickly.

Although, it makes sense too. Someone who is more emotional/empathetic would have probably had to learn to reel it in sometimes after being “too dramatic”

Hopefully after all the crap she went through in Urban Warfare, she took time to talk to someone.

However, while Tangle is often interpreted as a very “wears her heart on her sleeve” type of character, she’s shown to not be incapable of keeping things to herself.

She even seemed to be embarrassed to talk about how she’s feeling with Jewel, her best friend, in front of others,

but she’s comfortable to open up when it’s just the two of them.

people with low-self esteem either crave to be the center of attention to feel validated or hate it because they feel undeserving of it but that’s for another rant

okay long rambly post incoming. for the record like 90% of this is pure unfiltered headcanon. and almost all of this is about colors. sorry if this is hard to follow!!! i need to get this all out of my system.

oh also! a lot of this is based on a really good post by @/chronologically-challenged that shows off the differences between each character’s craft style! go check that out it’s really good

okay!! so!!! colors. this is just my own thing, but i personally like to color code the different types of craft!

don’t worry about those middle tones yet just put a pin in those

there’s still a little bit of color variety within craft types (for flavor), but generally, rock is blue, paper is yellow, and scissors is red. i’m not going to lie to you i only did this because the splatoon testfire had these colors. it’s also why my triplets designs are colored like that!

i think these colors also just fit the descriptions of these crafts? red feels like a more aggressive and active color, which matches how piercing craft is generally more focused on dealing damage, blue tends to be calmer, which matches protective craft being more supportive , that kinda thing. something something children’s hospital. yellow is a bit of a wildcard here lol, it just looks nice with the other two.

putting aside the colors for a mo! don’t worry those’ll come back soon. i’ve also been thinking a lot about how dual craft types work, though this is a little more speculative. i’m entirely basing this on how mira works. basically, one craft type seems to be more ‘dominant’ over the other. while mira is both paper and scissors, she’s still weak to rock, her basic attack is scissors, and her scissors skill (jolly round rondo) does much more damage than her paper skill (artsy silent burst). she behaves more like a scissors type, with an extra affinity for paper. which i think is interesting!!!

in terms of colors, i think this would manifest as mira’s craft being tinted orange, as a mix of both her craft type’s colors! this is partially what those uncategorized colors are for. while her scissors attacks are only slightly tinted, her paper attacks would be a lot closer to orange! and this would apply to other dual crafts as well. a rock/paper type would have more greenish attacks, a rock/scissors type would have more purply ones, etc etc.

i think this color mixing would also apply to single craft types trying to use a craft type that isn’t their own, though it’d prolly become less pronounced the more a person ‘gets used’ to using that craft type, so to speak. in a while rockodile would be pretty solidly purple, while rock bottom is more of an indigo color, and odile’s craft skills probably only slightly tinted as well.

ok!!! that was a lot about colors. i’m really fucking normal about colors. onto craft styles!! this is still kinda about colors tho sorry. also, again, go check out @/chronologically-challenged’s post if you haven’t already, it’ll prolly explain this better than i will

for a tl;dr on that post, each country has a different way of using craft. the forgotten island has lightless craft that tends to manifest as stars and zigzags, vaugarde has big, rounded bursts of grey craft (with smaller circles around it), and ka bue’s craft is more diamond shaped/triangular and tends to be on the lighter side.

this is also the part i’m a little less sure about. i haven’t drawn these out in my normal style!! so a lot of this is subject to change. sorry about that!

anyways. i wanted to preserve the island’s lightless craft while still making it colorful, so i decided to give it a sort of. halo effect? i guess? i wanted it to vaguely resemble the ring of light around a black hole or a solar eclipse, but that is a lot harder to do with the zigzag shape of the craft + my color limitations. and as i’ve recently learned, glow effects look really weird with my pixelly art. so this is all just flat colors 😓

vaugarde is pretty simple comparatively!! the craft is a sort of midshade ingame, so i just made the main color the normal craft colors. not much to say here!

and ka bue is in a similar boat! i did kinda draw it in my odile sprite redraw, but i didn’t really look at references so it’s kinda boring looking there. not much to say here either!!

and!! as we can see from the king’s special attack art, craft styles can kinda mix together. king’s style follows the general shape of vaugardian craft, but keeps the shade and stars from the forgotten island! i think it’d be fun to play with that a little more teehee. i imagine these are a lot more variable depending on how engrossed someone is in a culture, hence why odile’s craft doesn’t borrow from vaugarde’s style. unless she does? it’s not like we see other ka buans using craft in game. who knows.

also because i forgot, some extra bonus doodles of that craft color mixing i mentioned earlier! yipee!

and that’s it!!! there’s probably some other stuff that i am. currently forgetting. but this post is absurdly long enough!!! thank you so much for the ask i’m so sorry for autism blasting you about isat and color theory. am i still cool. here’s all of my craft doodles as compensation for reading this giant infodump. i’m so so sorry.

Just wondering...do you think David thought-spoke privately with Visser Three in #48 and told him the Andalite Bandits were human and that's why he starts looking in #49? Because that's my headcanon

Oh man, I do NOT know what to make of #48, but I do like this take. If David dropped V3 that hint, and if V3 saw mecha-Rachel as a distorted but still human-looking morpher, I could get behind this.

And you're right that Visser Three is the barrier to figuring out the andalite bandits are human. As early as #4 the kids overhear Temrash 114 and Iniss 226 debating: "is Visser Three wrong? What if they're not Andalites at all?"/ ... "Visser Three wrong? Maybe. But I'm not the fool who's going to try and tell him." Heck, as early as #1 the yeerks are looking for "some kids who were shooting off fireworks in the construction site", and presumably they don't mean andalite kids. So like, clearly some of the controllers are at least open to the possibility of human morphers. The only thing stopping a full-scale human morpher search is Visser Three a) having TWO of the galaxy's biggest andalite supremacists in his brain, and b) having absolute power over the Earth invasion.

So I've always headcanoned that some technician controllers start looking for irrefutable proof of human morphers as early as Elfangor's death, and that it just takes them ~2.5 years to come up with something ironclad. Ax's presence may have slowed the process — he's obviously an andalite and not just someone in morph as Elfangor — and Tobias's ability to stay "in morph" for 2+ hours and to go directly from being "in morph" to a different morph almost certainly muddied the waters. But yeah, maybe it's not that the technicians finally persuaded Visser Three; maybe Crayak engineered it that way.

Quick Slash is even cooler from a narrative perspective, and why I think the Nailsmith's story parallels the Pale King's

Cold take: Quick Slash is the best charm in Hollow Knight.

Slightly Warmer take: Quick Slash is the only S-tier charm that is great from both gameplay and lore perspective (aside from maybe Spell Twister).

The reason for this is that its existence is actually a

metaphor

Here, look at this.

So, Quick Slash is something that was created from a relatively big number of objects that were discarded and deemed imperfect, and that possess a collective will of wanting to fulfill their purpose.

You know what that reminds me of?

A large amount of creations: check.

Discarded as imperfect: check.

Still possessing a will to find closure: check.

Being a part of a larger, more powerful thing: check.

Having a common creator who is responsible for their creation and rejection: check.

So yeah, I think that Quick Slash's lore (or at least its description) is meant to parallel that of the Vessels'.

But I wanna talk about that last point: the creator.

It is heavily implied that the person who created and then later discarded those nails was the Ancient Nailsmith we see in the room where we get Quick Slash.

(Oh by the way I just realized that this stone ring thing on the right of that room is actually the furnace, neat.)

Judging from their Dreamnail dialogue, this Ancient Nailsmith was trying to achieve the same goal as the other, more famous Nailsmith we all know and love: creating a Pure Nail.

And you know who else was trying to create a perfect, Pure thing while discarding many other similar things that later gained a collective will?

That's right - it's the guy who is also responsible for creating those other discarded things we discussed earlier!

Ok, but what I really wanted to talk about here is how all of what I just said ties back to that other, more famous guy - The Nailsmith.

We don't know for sure how the story of the Ancient Nailsmith ended, but it feels like it exists there mainly to put an emphasis on the City's Nailsmith's story; to convey that his struggle is an important theme in this narrative (because ancient means important, ok?) And, I mean, the City's Nailsmith's story also parallels that of the Pale King's in the same manner, right?

The thing is, we already know how PK's story ended.

In trying to achieve perfection, to create an eternal Kingdom by making a Pure Vessel devoid of mind, voice and will, the Pale King doomed himself to be taken over by his regrets, by the vast emptiness of the futility of his struggles. But was it because he failed, or because that was where his story was headed all along?

What if PK succeeded? What if the Radiance was sealed forever? What if his Kingdom actually stood eternal, never to change, never to end? What if he realized he achieved his only goal in life?

And that's the part where we get to a story the ending of which is up to the player's choice.

To quote White Lady, only two obvious outcomes there are from such a thing.

The first is an honorable death by the fruits of his labor.

If we choose to kill the Nailsmith with the Pure Nail, he dies happy, knowing that his life's goal is accomplished and having gained all the satisfaction he could from it.

The second I find preferable, a new passion.

If the Nailsmith doesn't feel the finishing blow of the Pure Nail, he is left unsatisfied. But, while trying to resolve that unsatisfaction, he eventually finds something (and someone) that gives him a new calling, a new thing to create, a new reason to live.

And, while those are both equally valuable, equally canonic outcomes, don't you think the second one is just... better? I mean, not only does it include the achievement of the Nailsmith's goal, but it lets him live AND gives two lonely souls a partner in life! I feel like that's the thing this narrative is trying to convey. What it's trying to say about the meaning of life, about our dreams.

Maybe that was the ultimate folly of the Pale King - the inability to change. His story would've ended in the same way, regardless of whether Hallownest lasted eternally or not. He would be dead, if not by the hands of the Void, but by his own - but ultimately, by the hands of that vast emptiness of realizing that you achieved your only goal and that now all there is for you is this eternal satisfaction that slowly fades away, leaving you with nothing.

TL;DR: Quick Slash is the best because it's a metaphor for discarded vessels; perfection is overrated, try to get laid instead.

so this person on twitter apparently found matt duffer's pinterest account, which, if real, poses some SUPER interesting information about st5.

a list created 1 year ago with pins similar to what vecna's mindscapes look like titled "max world"?

a list created 1 year ago titled "st spinoff" with various vintage/50s inspired towns?

not to mention all these lists...

i am highly suspicious of the authenticity of this account because i doubt matt duffer would spoil some elements of st5 on a pinterest account literally called 'matt duffer' that is easily available to everyone and is super easy to find, but then again.... this account has been running actively for at least four years. i doubt someone wanting to impersonate him would keep the gag running that long. (that, and, it has taken a while to find this account. i think an impersonator would give up the shtick after they realize this is reaching virtually no one)

i think i have some evidence to back up that this is actually matt duffer though.

in 2020, around the time when they would have been starting production on st4, the account made this list called 'scar'

i have a feeling this could have been matt visualizing scars on fred, or maybe even victor creel. fred has a scar that travels along his left cheek, though it's not as dramatic as these pins.

could be victor because of the one with the eye though.

another pinterest account, michael maher jr, was also featured as a collaborator on some of these lists (the account follows matt duffer's as well) and has some interesting lists as well. i think it's worth noting that this guy is literally an emmy nominated concept artist that has worked with stranger things before. this is his official instagram, if you'd like to check it out.

i don't really want to delve into this guy's account because these lists could contain some inspo for other projects that he's doing but you're welcome to view it on your own.

this just begs the question: why would an impersonator go all these lengths to impersonate a concept artist ON TOP of matt duffer and run it consistently for four years?? it seems like too much work.

obviously, take everything you see here with a grain of salt. this could also very well be matt duffer trolling with us. but i think it's worth checking out!!!!

Thinking back to when Liam says “I think she means it” and Xaden goes “I know” he literally knows because he can read intentions (not that this scene is that hard to read… Violet is clearly ready to live up to her nickname & fuming with fury) but there’s some sort of heartbreak & yet another foreshadowing (pun semi-intended) moment in this… also once again he literally tells her he can read her mind (even if it’s just a manner of speech).

do you think they’ll put buck and eddie in each other’s colors more once they’re close to canon or even post canon? like, more eddie in blue and more buck in red? (or whatever eddie’s color actually is bc I may be misremembering)

I mean, maybe? We did see Eddie wearing Buck's teal in s8 already, but I think it will depend on what color they establish for Eddie going forward, if I'm right about the yellow or if they add another color.

For me, Eddie is a green character, I think his thing is the army colors earthy tones.

But since they already established green isn't a good sign for Buck (buck and green metas here here and here), I doubt we will be seeing Buck in stuff like army green jackets during buddie moments. And Buck has been wearing a lot more neutral tones lately, which is odd for him, but it is connected to him being lost, so maybe we will see him in more stuff like the jacket from 804 in other contexts.

But the yellow with Buck is tied to his healing journey, that burnt yellow color, so I can see them maybe putting Buck back in the yellow in the lead-up to buddie.

I also think that if I'm right once they're canon, it will be less strict to Buck is blue and Eddie is yellow, because once they figure it out, their colors are allowed to mix and match, the same way madney and bathena go back and forth inside the blue and green thing and the way Henren goes back and forth with the blue and yellow.

I think it could be an interesting way to add another layer to Buck missing Eddie if they put Buck in this army green tones while Eddie is in Texas, because since they established the green as Buck's something is wrong color, to put him on Eddie's shade of green would add a lot to the wrongness of the situation. And the red tones with Eddie can be tied to something going wrong.

And it is a color that's been attached to this arc with Christopher, mostly because of buddie and the parenting maroon, but since Buck does wear a lot of red tones it is a symbolism they could play with, to add to the concept that what they are missing is each other while Eddie is in El Paso.

It's something I can see, but honestly, who knows at this point.
