I am still surprised that I played Our Wonderland for free..

Like, before I even downloaded Our Wonderland, I was like; 'ah, a Queer visual novel with problematic 30 year Olds going into Wonderland? Sounds interesting enough. This would be a piece of cake-"

Bro, Our Wonderland touched yet beat up my heart like there's no fucking tomorrow. I HAVEN'T EVEN CRIED AT A VISUAL NOVEL (only internally BUT NOT OUTSIDE) UNTIL PLAYING OUR WONDERLAND.

Like the characters!?!??!?!? The plot!?!? The humour- 🫶👌- THE ANGST!?!? AND DON'T GET ME STARTED ON THE ENDING. LIKE I WAS FUCKING BAWLING MY EYES OUT WHEN IGGY WISHED HE NEVER EXISTED. I'M LIKE; "WAIT, WHAT, NO, NO, NO," until I saw that it wasn't actually the end of the game- just the arc.

BUT GOD FUCKING DAMN IT. THE ENDINGS AT EACH ARC WAS LIKE KNIVES STABBING INTO MY HEART-

And when I finally finished Our Wonderland. I slowly laid back down on my bed and cried both tears of joy and sadness-

Like, I played that visual FOR FREE. WTF.

Also, when first playing it, I thought Cecil was like an alternate emo version of Iggy-

arthur fleck (joker, 2019): 60's music that i felt really encapsulated arthur and his mental state in the first film.

joker: folie à deux (2024): i actually really like this movie and idk why people hate it so much, so i made a playlist that i think harley and arthur would've listened to together if they had ended up living together

beautiful boy (2018): songs that i feel represent both Nic and his father. rlly tragic, sorry.

chandler bing (friends, 1994): playlist i made right after matthew perry died (r.i.p. to a legend). i think chandler would love these songs and some of these songs are canon.

the substance (2024): not the kind of playlist you're thinking about. It's basically just 80's music that i think would be played during an old episode of 'Sparkle Your Life!'. It's basically just a glorfied jazzercise playlist.

charlie kelmeckis(the perks of being a wallflower, 2012): my idea of what charlie would have on his mixtape. Some songs are canon from the movie and book.

challengers (2024): i loved the soundtrack of this movie just as much as i loved the film itself. because of my almost overwhelming love for it, i decided to make a high energy playlist that i think could have just as easily been played in the movie alongside actual songs from the soundtrack.

dead poets society (1989): a collection of songs that i think really reflect the vibe of the film for me, not necessarily songs that would fit the time period.

donnie darko (2001): playlist that shows donnies declining mental state in the film.

mr.robot (2015): songs that i think elliot would enjoy but also describe his descent.

fight club (1999): songs for the narrator and how he feels during his 6 month bout of insomnia. this playlist is my personal favorite bcs i'm also an insomniac (twinning)

tony stark/iron man (marvel/MCU 2008-2019): literally my favorite character from the MCU ever. bcs of this i decided i NEEDED to make a playlist for him based on songs that i know he likes based on the movies and songs that i think he would like

glee (2009-2015): all my favorite songs from the series in release order simply bcs this is my favorite show of all time

the bear (2022): songs that i think carmy would listen to while yelling "behind!" at his chefs.

you (2018): songs that describe joe goldberg from you, not necessarily stuff he would like (he's much too pretentious to enjoy olivia rodrigo).

the batman (2022): everyone say "thank you robert pattinson" for providing us with the true version of batman: emo batman. my batman is a greasy weirdo that looks like he's about to burst out in tears all the time. in honor of this truly revolutionary movie i have created a playlist that this batman would listen to as he applies his ungodly amount of eyeshadow before terrorizing gotham city in a bat costume.

pearl (2022): a playlist that reminds me of the monologue scene in pearl where she says "i don't feel...well" because i really felt that. once again, not necessarily songs that match the time period or the characters potential interests.

lady bird (2017): lady bird is one of those movies where i'm pretty sure the director was in my house monitoring my daily movements for inspiration. naturally, i needed to make a playlist that i think completely captures the feeling of growing up with a not-so-healthy relationship with your mother.

gone girl (2014): a playlist based on the "cool girl" monologue and how it feels to feel forced to play a caricature of a woman just to for a man.

gone girl (2014): this time it's a nick dunne inspired playlist because unfortunately i relate to him (more so, book version nick). take that info how you will.

miles morales (spider-man: into the spider-verse, 2018): best spider-man, idc. ~ él es el mejor spider-man, no me importa.

jughead jones (riverdale, 2017): songs that i think jughead would have loved.

american psycho (2000): a mix of songs that patrick bateman would listen to in his headphones on his way to work and songs that i think describe him.

little women (2019): specifically this is a playlist based on how i think laurie felt during the famous scene where he confesses his feelings to jo.

fiona gallagher (shameless, 2011-2021): a playlist that i think represents how fiona feels as the older sister and neglected child that she is.

the iron claw (2023): songs that represent the tragedy of the story of the von erich family but also the beautiful bond of the brothers. Once again, these are not all time period accurate.

black swan (2010): a playlist based on nina. lots of swan references in the titles.

jake peralta (brooklyn nine nine, 2013-2021): i love andy samberg and i love jake peralta. he is my favorite character in another on of my favorite shows of all time so it's only natural that i create a playlist based on what i believe is on jake peralta's spotify. this is comprised of songs that are confirmed that jake likes on the show and also songs from taylor swift bcs that is jakes favorite artist and some songs that i think jake would like.

jay gatsby (the great gatsby, 2013): songs that i think represent gatsby's mental state while waiting for daisy to come to one of his parties

bones and all (2022): this playlist was actually made by my friend in slideshow form and then i copied her and made into a spotify playlist

the little prince (2015): i absolutely loved this movie and book when i experienced it for the first time in highschool so i decided that it was high time i make a playlist dedicated to the story.

taxi driver (1976): a mix of songs based on the time period, things that travis bickle would listen to while driving, and songs that encapsulate the movie.

nightcrawler (2014): songs that represent lou bloom, not necessarily songs he would listen to because i don't actually believe he would listen to music on his own.

peeta mellark (hunger games, 2012): ,ovies i think peeta would either enjoy, or capture his personality and plight throughout the movies.

may december (2023): i love this movie SO MUCH, so i ofc had to make a dedicated playlist. it's through the perspective of joe ofc.

eternal sunshine of the spotless mind (2004): playlist based on the rocky relationship between clementine and joel.

mother (2020): for those who don't know, this is a japanese film based on a true story about a toxic mother and her relationship to her son. so this playlist is based on the perspective of the son, shuhei.

clay jensen (13 reasons why, 2017): playlist that clay would listen to in between tapes.

girl, interrupted (1999): a playlist loosely based on the mindset of the character of daisy

peter parker/spider-man (spider-man, 2002): i never see any love for tobey maguire's spider-man and that ends today bcs he's one of my favorite versions of spider-man. so i've created a playlist that i think tobey's version of spider-man would dance to in the streets, venom/symbiote style.

prisoners (2013): unsettling and melancholy playlist inspired by this film and the perspective of detective loki, one of the main characters.

rush hour trilogy (1998-2007): if lee and carter had a shared mixtape, it would have all these songs on it.

sam evans (glee, 2009): another one of my favorite playlists bcs i'm just so proud of it. like, absolutely sam would love this playlist. i included some glee versions of songs he sang, but only ones that i liked better than the original.

sound of metal (2019): songs that i feel express ruben's reaction to his deafness and his struggle to accept change.

troy bolton (high school musical, 2006): i absolutely LOVE this franchise and so i think i'm qualified to say that troy bolten would love himself some 2000's rnb. This is why i've taken upon the burden and pleasure of making him a playlist that he would jam out to.

scott pilgrim vs. the world (2010): songs inspired by sex bob-omb and the overall playful vibes of the movie.

good will hunting (1997): these are songs that i think will would include in his rotation or songs that represent the journey that will takes during the movie.

the hunt (2012): this was a very tragic movie about a man who suffers greatly based on a false accusation. one of my worst fears is not being believed when i haven't done anything. truly there is nothing worse than injustice and with this selection of songs i tried to convey the dread, sadness, and overwhelming rage that the main character, lucas, felt when everyone he knew turned on him.

mother (2020): playlist based off the japanese drama movie i watched about the toxic relationship between mother and son. you'll probably relate to this playlist if you have mommy issues.

romeo & juliet (1996): songs that encapsulate the tragedy of their relationship. yes 'exit music (for a film)' by radiohead is involved.

the holdovers (2023): this is my actual family. lots of 60's and 70's music.

christopher moltisanti (the sopranos, 1999): one of my favorite characters from the show bcs he's unfortunately very relatable to me. mostly based on what he said in the first season, "it's like the regularness of life is too hard for me." I get that.

abigail armstrong (dance academy, 2009): based on a quote from season 1 where she said "you all want me to fail." Abigail has this need to be perfect and she feels like she's all alone, so i thought that I would turn those feelings into a playlist bcs i can relate.

tara and christian (dance academy, 2009): based off the tumultuous relationship between main characters, tara and christian. based off the quote from season 3 where tara says to christian "i just want so badly to be rid of you". even if you don't know the show, i hope you can enjoy the sad break up playlist of it all.

9 R.I.P. Review - Kureha

Spoilers Included

Ok so this man is pleasant to look at and sexy voice, from the moment I first saw the trailer, I knew he was the main one i needed to romance. I'm so glad he was suggested to play first but then again I would have done it first anyways. I had read he was a type of air head but after doing his whole route I am dumbfounded how anyone would write that, I love this man. He is protective and kind and always puts the MC first. He has such a sad story he was wrote off as a serial killer when he killed no one at all even though he would have loved to kill the main bad guy.

He was always drawn to the mc "Misa" even before she ended up in his realm. She heard his story and didn't judge him so fast, so she intrigued him to know more. He has such a great personality that I can say its so easy to feel like you can trust him and let him in without wanting to see any red flags. He lost his memory and woke up with a bloodied sword with blood on him and they hint around this several times making you second guess what if he really is a serial killer. The funny thing the small gestures like patting the mc's head lightly, or caressing her cheek there is no way those thoughts would stay in your mind long cause he is just so damn caring, compassionate and loving.

When you meet Hibiki you see a dark boy but he actually lightens up to the mc as well as Kureha, them two almost feel like brothers at one point in the game. He encourages Hibiki just like the mc does and its sweet. Its why its not hard to believe he was a big brother later when you find out about his sister. I loved that this world of ghosts and a mortal are brought together to the point she was even able to use her cell phone there and take a picture of them two. That was almost unbelievable but who cares right you got a serial killer even though he isn't and a emo boy who killed himself living in a mirror so do you really want to play the does it sound real card.

He starts off feeling like a big brother then you see this connection grow between them. He then quickly becomes the best friend always there to talk to and before you know it he is up and fell in love with her. His story was well put together I never cried I felt bad for him but never cried. However he did make me feel warm and fuzzy cause he would say stuff like "you're special" or declare he will protect her til his last breath...well you get the picture even though he isn't breathing anymore. For what I went into thinking there was gonna be no warm and fluffy romance well this one hit the spot. It took me 2 days to do the common route and all of his chapters all endings. (roughly about 14 hours)

That tender touch and how he looks at her my heart was bursting with the happiness as I watched them fall for each other. Its funny cause I thought might need to be forced but nope they are perfect for each other not hard to see it and made it so natural watching them together.

At some point you as the mc will get a mark from the wraith that makes you look bad in the face but this man is so in love with you he sees beauty in you in every way and makes sure you know it too. This man always tries to make you smile I found myself puled into his praise and needing more. He is clingy, needy, jealous, and possessive although tries not to show you these sides as you see him in other little routes you will find he is but then again those are how I like my men so he was a perfect love interest for me.

I found it funny he hates horror movies or anything horror base yet he is a ghost who haunts a school and almost became a wraith lol. Guess then he would be scared of himself too. 😛

The time comes for in the first good ending and you have to see them say goodbye to one another and it hurts to see this. I mean yes I mean it I didn't cry but my heart hurt watching them talk about fighting to somehow to be together when all the odds are stacked against them to end up seeing them still having the angsty ending. Thank god even after this and she goes back to real world mortal world and he still watches over her. This is the ending that lets you see him again no longer can touch but they are just happy the mc can finally see and talk to him again.

I was really surprised on his alternate endings like the one where she dies and she can touch him and feel his warmth because she is fading. However it was one of the most beautiful cause in the end neither were unhappy yes he hated he couldn't protect her from wraith like he tried but he at least had her by his side forever now.

Look at that kiss that was well worth it. You don't get a kiss like that except in the alternate ending think was the heavenly ending. It even talks about her life after this as she walks the earth with him dead both with unfinished business watching over her family. They end it with one good ending or another she joins him in death and one day they will cross over but when they do it will always be together. The other option is that ask the red book for a granted wish that you and Kureha will be able to communicate and you can see him. Then he declares his love he is just happy you notice him again and willing to live out his days right by your side so he can cross over together with the woman he loves. Such a beautiful couple. I recommend not only taking time for this game but his route you won't be sorry.

X. currently reading: the guardians of the flame series for the thousandth time. came out in the 80s so a bit of a product of its time, but it's an excellent series. all the main characters are deeply, deeply flawed and there's some unfortunately realistic grit in there. the author also doesn't beat around the bush - very ' to the point ' style of writing. i think there's...8 books? in total. or 11. idk there's quite a few

XI. currently watching: my partner play Elden Ring

XII. currently working on: a very, very long wip that i'll never finish. it's at 140k+ words so far, but i think the characters got away from me a bit and i'm not sure how to reel them back in. it's very ambitious, lots of stuff going on there, lots of angst. but it's become unsatisfying to write as of late

2000s Christian Metal

cleaning out some drawers, i rediscovered this album today. unfortunately, the cd and front cover have been lost somewhere in my house (hopefully). but it reminded me of a subgenre, or really a movement, that i hadnt considered fully before.

i found this cd in the basement of an odd store, half of which is a Moon Pie General Store, where you could find anything moonpie related as well as typical tourist junk. however, the other part of this business is a christian book store. on the main floor they sold new books. past the selections of bibles and christian novels/self help/anything, past the surprisingly funny secular selections of diary of a wimpy kid and Five Nights at Freddys novels, and past the section of childrens entertainment, there is a GIGANTIC basement.

im not sure where the basement items they sold at a discounted price came from. it was like flea market levels of unsold stock. im talkin odd sh*t. at points they had 18+ erotica from the 90s, some Star Wars Episode 1 merch i regret not buying, 14 billion copies of a political hate book about president Obama, and of course a shit ton of cds. ive found suprisingly obscure and amazing books there, but thats not what this is about.

sometime maybe 2020-2021 i found this cd for 3 bucks. being an edgy teen with a hatred of Christianity, i was enthralled to find such a cd with the album name "buried alive." at a time in my life where i had limited to no internet access but blossoming music taste (and an impressive cd collection), I listened to this shit SO MUCH. heres one of my favs.

The band Inhale Exhale was a semi popular american metal(core) group, hailing from Ohio. and like so many independent rock bands with the best music youve ever heard, they promptly disbanded with only a few albums under their belt.

its that yummy yummy mix of metal, emo, melodic hardcore, and probably countless other labels (can you tell i have a distaste for genres?) that rocked the scene in the 2000s to early 2010s, around a time when the Jesus Freak Movement had revived and infused its 70s hippie values into the grungey, edgy and dark undertones of the late 90s-00s, delivering the gospel with a unabashed punch. truly of another era, an era i wish i had experienced. i think this was the first "metal" music i ever listened to on my own, but i found out just today that they were in fact a christian metal band.

this year ive been really into metal related music. but ive also been really into the concept of christianity. my family, really my entire community ive been raised in is "christian". going to "christian" schools, having only christian "friends", adult role models who were "christian", its always been about salvation and damnation. as i became a teenager, i evolved into a creature who despised this religion, for many good reasons im sure ill talk on another time, but also pure teenage rebellion. studying the bible this year (as a part of my last year in.. you guessed it... a christian school) has been oddly eye-opening. maybe ive matured since i last cracked open the holy bibbel. but ive found myself debating the idea of it. at its core, it seems to my mind to be the best sounding religion out there. what i love most is the rich story and the themes of love, redemption, brokenness, true evil and true good; they resonate with me.

christian metal really hits the spot. the themes i have deep history with, pared with the aggression and beauty of the screams and rage filled melodic guitar riffs, as well as my personally over powering, nostalgic/anmoiac obsession for the 00s and early 10s creates a great mix. its a movement of music i wish i could be present in.

and why did christian metalcore decline in popularity into the 10s and 20s? im sure theres not an easy answer. i mean, look at popular christian music and culture today. its

so void of life and culture, void of our beautiful human qualities. they speak the same, often hateful, script; they water down the thought provoking concepts and stories of their religion, and they try to remove what they think isnt acceptable. a lot of these christian metalcore groups have abandoned their roots, stating their disagreements with Christianity, which of course is valid.

hey, im still not sold on christianity, im still learning. everyone has their own free will to find what idealogies or lack thereof to believe in. so i mean no hate

i do feel though, in certain circumstances perhaps, this says something disturbing abt modern christianity. its mindnumbing. its boring. its really sad and honestly, with how perfected it appears to be, its f*cking ugly.

it also seems to connect with the way life today just dosent hit like it used to, and i know im not alone in my age group thinking this. there seems to be a blandness encroaching on our art and lives today. in the music, films, internet; a corporatization and general simplification of our art has been slowly killing us.

i long for a time when christians could death growl about god. but honestly, this can be done today if we really try. fuck modern christianity, fuck modernism in general; this isnt just for the christians. go nuts. scream, riot, portray your truths how you want to, dont follow some guideline.

i might have gotten out of hand with this post, i dont want to get to philosophical here. i guess thats what this blog is for though. christian metalcore is really cool tho, check it out. you might be surprised how many popular metal bands from that era had ties to christianity. ill include some recommendations, or you can search it out yourself.
