WHY is there so much incest in every fandom I step my foot in? Especially the Rick and Morty fandom omg. Like wdym I want to look up cute fan art or Rick and his VERY MUCH UNDERAGE GRANDCHILD, cause yk why not it’s cute? And I get incest stuff (this doesn’t only go for this fandom). And don’t talk about how everyone is free to ship whatever and all of those things… like c’mon. It’s not even just incest one of the 2 is like 14? One thing is for you to be underage and read fan fiction of someone way older, or just an adult. But that’s WAY different from an adult writing fan fiction and fantasizing about an adult and his minor grandchild fucking. Do I think these people should be burned at the stake (or harassed)? No, that’s wrong and technically they haven’t done that stuff irl. HOWEVER we so need to tell them hey, this is not cool please don’t do this tf? Instead of being told “w-w-well… it is wrong but I accept you anyways” NO GET OUT. Idc if it’s fictional it’s still wrong? And it’s a type of wrong very different from someone writing a fan fiction that involves stealing or killing or stuff like that yk? Those are completely different things, stealing is way less harmful and killing is so not as common or doable if yk what I mean plus it’s usually set in a fantasy world like game of thrones where it would make sense or just slasher stuff, not like incest and grooming which is thing much more “doable” yk? Just step foot in the internet and post yourself as a minor and see how many’s pedos will get into your dm’s. A LOT. So yeah no one will read this and it’s very random but whatever.

It's so important to remember that when it comes to developmental research, almost everything is confounded* with poverty (*hard to distinguish from). Breastfeeding leads to "better" children? Who has the time, energy, and family support to breastfeed? The middle and upper class (especially in the US which has no paid maternity leave, and guess where a lot of research comes from). So is it really breastfeeding or wealth? Self-control on the marshmallow test leads to better life outcomes? Nope, highly correlated with poverty. Less screen time is important for development? Guess who can pay for better daycare and take advantage of maternity leave? Guess who is stuck using a screen as a babysitter so their family can eat? You can't pick these factors apart; is it the sceentime or is it the thousands of small benefits a child picks up when their parent isn't barely keeping their head above water?

And anyone who replies to this, "Well then the poor shouldn't have children" I'll turn you into Soylent Green because, aside from that being eugenics and all the other reasons, guess what else is highly correlated with poverty? Access to birth control and factual sex education. The solution is to help people out of poverty

The tragedy of Rosquez isn’t “Valentino was too jealous of Marc’s success” because that’s just not what happened. Valentino repeatedly acknowledged Marc’s talent before and even after their fallout. He’s said it himself: Marc is one of the greats. He’s not blind he knows what talent looks like. He’s also made it clear that he’s already retired and doesn’t care about Marc surpassing him anymore because, well, he’s not in it anymore. The actual tragedy is that Vale truly believes Marc betrayed their relationship by trying to stop him from winning his 10th championship. That’s the core of it. That’s the sad part. Valentino believed Marc conspired with Jorge to take that title away from him. And th he can’t admit to himself that he tried to intimidate Marc at the Sepang press conference like he did with many other rivals and didn’t realize Marc wasn’t going to play that game.

And that belief snowballed. From the moment after Australia 2015, Vale decided Marc wanted to ruin his championship run, and he said it out loud which kicked off a chain of events that led to him never getting that 10th title. That’s Rosquez. Not “old man jealous of the rising star.” No. It’s tragic because he loved/like Marc, saw him as a successor and still couldn’t handle Marc inserting himself in what Vale saw as his fight.

Not totally related but this reminds me of a story I like to share about testicles and not always trusting what your read on the internet, even Wikipedia.

I worked as an editor for a very popular science blog that was started by one guy in the early 2000’s and gained so much traction that now, if you google certain common science questions, it’s the first source that pops up.

The problem was that back in the early days, it was just this one dude writing whatever he wanted without providing sources. So my job was to go back through the archives to add sources and delete stuff that couldn’t be backed up.

One day I had to fact check this line: “in the medieval period, it was believed that the left testicle produced “female” sperm and the right testicle produced “male” sperm. Some men would have their left testicle removed if they wanted to have a son.”

I dug for days but was unable to find a single reliable, independent source to back up this claim. The “fact” was repeated across the internet countless times, but every page led me back to our article.

Even today, on the Wikipedia page for “Testicle,” you can find the sentence “In the Middle Ages, men who wanted a boy sometimes had their left testicle removed” with that same article as the source (even though the original article has been taken down).

So to this day I encourage people to take even Wikipedia with a grain of salt. Also, you could remove your left testicle if you want to be more artistic.

This is a rant about the Scientific American diagram on intersex

This diagram makes the rounds periodically as an illustration of how sex development is complicated. Unfortunately, I don't think people really give it a close look, because it is incredibly intersexist.

The first thing to know about this diagram is it advocates for intersex genital mutilation. Here are actual boxes in the diagram:

"Genitals can be modified to look more typically female" is written in the part about how CAH looks at birth. "Dysgenic gonad and testis can be removed and genitals modified to look female" is under MGD at birth. "Dysgenic gonad can be removed and genitals modified to look male" is ALSO under MGD at birth and under PAIS.

Let's be clear here. This diagram is advocating that *babies* should be put through genital mutilation that causes permanent nerve damage, just so the babies can look "normal". 🤬

It also advocates removing gonads from babies, because they're the "wrong" ones. 🤬

The same diagram also advocates putting intersex youths on HRT to "promote (male/female) characteristics" or "regulate effects of [one's natural but apparently incorrect] male hormones". Again, coercive medical shit used to try and make our bodies conform to perinormativity without regard for our bodily autonomy, gender identity, goals, etc. 👀

Speaking of gender. The text that looks like the title of the diagram is the infobox on "the gender spectrum", which visually makes this seem about gender rather than sex. 🤨 This infobox also sucks: it defines trans, cis, and nonbinary, without any regard for how intersex people identify. I assume it's there to try explain to ignorant people that intersex is not gender, but in doing so it totally forgets that intersex people have gender and we often don't fit into these definitions of trans/nb/cis! It really reflects a view that intersex people aren't people with experiences and identities, we are just anatomical oddities. 🙃

The descriptions in the diagram are also gratuitously gendered. Like, "male hormones" are used rather than androgens, "female hormones" are used rather than estrogens, and there's vague shit like "male characteristics" (which ones?). 👀

Unsurprisingly, intersex variations are referred to by their pathologizing names, and they're called "intersex conditions" rather than variations. Language in the diagram throws around loaded shit like "biological male" (as in, intersex people are not). 🙃

Altogether this is an intersexist diagram, and it's upsetting every time I see it make the rounds. This is not the pro-intersex diagram people seem to think it is. 😩

It's funny but the dream I had a while back about jikook jikooking also involved the theme of fans crossing boundaries and when fans should stop invading their privacy. Now I'm thinking this was prophetic.

People are now sharing their hotel like this is normal and nobody knows if they truly left.

Funny that my dream highlighted this point. Like at some point in my dream jikook allowed us to film them jikooking and when I recorded this represented ARMY as a whole filming them but there was a point when it became "too much" and jikook told us to stop. Like a boundary was crossed.

I wonder if they might say something ~ but I think not.

Yet it's clear people are going too far, recording and sharing a private conversation, sharing hotel a minute after they found out....

Idk but it makes me have such an icky feeling. I can't really be happy about it, even if I'm glad jikook are jikooking as always but it leaves a bad aftertaste.

It shows even jikookers will stop at nothing to get what they want and it completely dishumanize jikook. They are persons, and I hope people knew that they deserve some respect too, even if they are celebrities. They are not puppets for people's entertainement. They deserve to live their life freely and it would be cool if they could trust us to respect them but in this case it feels like jikookers are breaking that trust for greed and I'm really sad about that.

You might say I'm overreacting but seeing people sharing all of this like this is completely fine and ok baffles me. Don't people feel this is wrong? It seems not. I don't get it.

istg it pisses me off so much when people say that they only ship batjokes if it's in Lego form

like, guys, there is literal DECADES of batjokes content. decades of queer coding and implications and love confessions. I don't care if you don't ship it in general, but you have to admit that no other two characters in DC have been this heavily shipped by authors before.

The only reason that it's not canon yet is bc of the homophobic nightmare legacy DC has. Scott Snyder has gone on record multiple times to say that they are gay. Just take a look at Death of The Family (the special edition that's from Joker's perspective) or Sean Murphy's White Knight.

Ship all or none. The only reason that the Lego Batman has such good Batjokes content is because of their dynamic in every other comic EVER. Sure, Joker is much less of a threat in the Lego Batman Movie, but the reason that any of his interactions with Bats are based off of past DC content. (i.e. "What about that time with the two boats," "This is better than the two boats", Alfred listing all of Bruce's past mental breakdowns, etc...)

Sorry about the rant I'm just sick of it.

Not even low-key, the fact they stripped dialog that would’ve further fleshed out Arnold is fucking bullshit and it’s frustrating. For all we know, there’s likely even more that got left out beyond those unused lines of dialog and what we have currently was likely left in the files by mistake when Steel Wool was rushing at the end to get the game out.

It always felt strange that Arnold barely has any other dialogue in the game.
