#5189 I can't take dnis seriously anymore, because if they're not openly sharing a bunch of trigger topics to upset the person with the dni, which gives trolls ammo, they're either extraordinarily specific and nitpicky, long to the point people are even less likely to read through everything even if they do click through to see it in the first place, or full of things the person touts as "common sense" only to be things like "against harassment" or "(ridiculous age range)".
Half of the people I see don't even obey their own dni. Because they scroll, view, like, and reblog posts so fast and casually that they're obviously not going to stop for each one, just to see if a blog is on their dni. They never seem to understand how, if they can't be bothered to "safety check" blogs with such a ridiculous frequency, other people won't be doing that either, to see if they're on said peoples' dnis.
People need to take a breath and just stop with the whole thing. It's beyond comical.
Posting as a response to a previous problem.

I mean I get that’s it’s not the only contributing factor, but I’m curious exactly how much of the shelter dog over-population problem is actually due to poor dog ownership/management vs the housing crisis and economical stress. I’d be willing to bet by investing in social programs that give people the resources they need to care for their pets (cough cough affordable and free housing cough cough) that the amount of pets in shelters would dramatically drop. We can all sit here pointing fingers and screaming at each other until we are blue in the face, but if the owners basic needs are not being met, how can we hold them to a basic standard for their pets?
#I know I’m probably preaching to the choir#but truly it feels like we got one group of ppl being like#adopt don’t shop! people breeding animals are evil!#and the other side being like#alll shelter dogs are inherently genetic disasters that will always have behavior issues responsible breeding is the answer#or the problem is uneducated owners#idk guys we r all ripping ourselves apart when the real enemy#*turn and looks directly into the camera*#is our government#USA centric post

Phantom letters - DPXDC PROMPT
The bats wake up one day to the internet going crazy; people around the world were getting letters from they're diseased loved ones. The reactions are mixed, from people being outraged for the "prank" to people crying in melancholy at getting closure.
All the letters have something in common: They're closed with a green sealing wax that had an stylize DP and the name Phantom beneath it. Posts about the cards were using the # Phantom Letters.
The bats are discussing the viral posts in the cave when Alfred comes holding a basket filled with letters, announcing they were left at the doors. The letters had the sealing wax that they recognize from the posts. Checking the cameras they can see how they glitch before the basket appears.
Alfred starts to distribute the letters that had only one destinatary. Letters from each Thomas and Martha to both Bruce and Alfred. Letters from each John and Mary to Dick. A letter from Catherine to Jason. A letter from the Drake's to Tim, and another one to Bruce.
Once they had calmed down enough from the shock, Alfred proceeded to read the shared recipients. From Thomas and Martha to "The grandchildren we never got to meet." From John and Mary to "the family that took our little Robin in." Letters from Catherine to "My little boys family." The letters were directed to people the deceased didn't get to meet.
As much as the mere existence of the letters tugged at their hearts, they decided to not read them until they verified that the handwriting actually belong to the ones it claimed. They checked each letter, and in the end confirmed the letters were in fact from they're lost love ones.
After much discussion, each person makes the decision to read they're own letters later in private, and they proceed to read the ones that shared recipients out loud. The letter mentioned specifics like names and events that the deceased shouldn't have been able to know, including they're vigilante abilities, which had them pause each time to panic a bit. But what was more interested were certain pieces of the letters that mentioned a Prince Phantom.
"Prince Phantom said to don't mention things past our death, but it wasn't a command, so we're hoping this won't be much of a problem." - John and Mary
"I still can't believe Prince Phantom is letting us do this, but I'm so glad." - Catherine
It finally paints the mystery in a more concerning light when at the end of Thomas and Martha's letter there is a call for help.
"We're sorry for ending the letter on a serious tone, but seeing the kind of job you all get involved in, we wanted to ask: Could you please help Prince Phantom? Phantom had asked us to not give information about this, but he's so young, and has already been hurt so much. Please, check on Amity Park, Illinois."
-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-
Meanwhile, team Phantom has decided that they needed to get the news about the GIW out of Amity and ask for help. Two problems:
the GIW blocks any technological attempt made.
People might be afraid to learn that ghosts exist and side with the GIW.
As a way to deal with the public image, Phantom opens a possibility that the death have never had:
"All afterlives are open to write letters to their love ones that are still alive today. Nothing that includes threats, and don't go talking about the anti-ecto acts or Amity Park yet, we're trying to ease people into our existence first. Also, I know you all check on your love ones when the veil is thin, but please keep the things you shouldn't know out of the letters if possible. If you want your letter to be sent in the first batch, make sure to deliver your letter before the week ends."
Letters are a good way to reconnect people with the death, they aren't digital, and the GIW won't be able to intercept letters if they're send through inter-dimensional portals. Two birds in one shot.
#dp x dc#dc x dp#dcxdp#batfam#Phantom Letters#Danny is the crown prince#The ghost king is actually the king of the infinite realms and the position can be taken by any denizen#not just ghosts#People had gotten used to call it Ghost King because Pariah's reign was so long and he was a ghost.#The infinite realm includes all the afterlives#Each afterlives is manage by its own responsible entity (usually ancients or gods) that answers to Phantom#Danny doesn't have free reign for everything#He has to take into account the God's and ancients words#but he makes the final decision#The God's/ancients didn't put any problem with the letters because they#Found the idea interesting and they're all hungry for anything interesting to happen#Eternity is boring okay?#dc x dp prompt#dc x dp crossover

How to avoid character inconsistency in your writing
Set your character boundaries:
What's the background?
What's your character's backstory?
What are their traits, and how do they portray them?
Know what keeps your characters motivated. (Are they reaching their goal?)
You can avoid quick shifting of scenes. Let your readers absorb the setting of the scene.
Ensure that their actions and decisions align with their development and growth.
Tip 1: Start your chapter with a scene or dialogue that comes back at the end, which helps maintain consistency.
Tip 2: Throughout the chapter avoid the fast pacing of the story, rather let the characters express themselves so that it's clear for the readers.
Consider how your characters react to situations that are hard to convey. (Do they feel nervous? Scared? Fearless?)
Dialogue writing is crucial in explaining your character's personality while writing a story.
This process requires lots of re-reading and writing, fixing character holes and rewriting character arcs.

Ik it doesn't align with canon but I do just see Keith as someone who if he is not doing kick flips in the Castle training room just conks out.
Like he eats his food, he does his missions, he does his probably 3-4 hour training a day and then he sits down and passes out snoring immediately.
And the problem with that is anytime someone needs to talk to him has to hope he didn't sit down on an excursion around the many layered and roomed castleship cause he could be asleep on a fucking rafter in the belly of the ship and it's gonna take them a solid couple hours to find him.
#i just think he is annoyingly sleepy person due to overworking himself so often and often finding very active excuses to not hang with ppl#and that this would become less of a problem when he finds a suitable response to his insomnia issues and lack of social interaction#he truly is a socially inclined dog who just has not been properly acclimatised to people and does zoomies till he sleeps and zoomies again#(also no this is not me projecting as someone wholl have insomnia for like 3 nights and then conk out for effectively 3 days)#keith#keith vld#vld keith#keith voltron#voltron keith#keith kogane#voltron#vld#voltron: legendary defender

Damn I need to stop posting the same way I write messages. I forget that when people stumble upon my posts they don't see them in the context of all the previous posts I made haha
Please stop trying to educate me about real disabilities I was just talking about popular fanon in fanfiction that I find illogical. I wasn't trying to say that disabled people shouldn't have cool jobs, I was trying to say that fanfictional Prowl fainting every time he gets very surprised puts his subordinates lives at risk.
It's about the way the trope is handled in fanfics not about real world and people pls
#those posts do look bad outside of context#bruh#anyway#I wasn't talking about real life#I have zero problem with disabled people having cool or dangerous jobs or high positions or anything#because people in real life are responsible#and they account for their disability#I was talking about FANFICS#and how Prowl in fanfics rarely accounts for his disability#he often has no backup or aid or anything#the authors don't account for the damage Prowl might cause because those characters are at war#that's all haha

To Fandom Problem #4384:
I just saw someone posting on tumblr about how she will delete her AO3 account not just because of the current shitty i/p war controversy, but also because proshippers don't respect her boundaries despite having "proshippers DNI" tagged on her fics. Ma'am first that's an archive, a huge digital library, not a social media platform. Second AO3 is The Proshipper Site™️ one of its creators is/was a Wincest shipper, I don't know what you expected. 🤦♀️
Posting as a response to a previous problem.

finally at that age where i'm thinking i should get a tattoo. not bc i feel strongly about it, just seems like a waste not to. i've got so much skin i'm not using
#feels so selfish like. all this skin what am i saving it for?#open to design suggestions! (please make me regret this offer)#maybe some deep sea horrors. a pretty watercolor of a gulper eel#once saw a person on the subway with various Skeleton Tattoos on all their limbs#i respected their commitment to the theme#but more than that i respected how all the skeletons were engaged in Activities#dancing in a ballgown. juggling its own (and two other???) skulls. swordfighting. being a mermaid skeleton#ANYWAY. the only reason i haven't already gotten tattoos is i just couldn't be bothered#i'm old enough to know i don't have any strong-but-potentially-temporary feelings driving me towards it#aesthetically i prefer decorated to non-decorated surfaces. but i'm not artistic or thrilled with commitment#honestly it feels like sheer laziness. indecisiveness--nay. immaturity!--that i HAVEN'T gotten a tattoo yet#letting all this blank canvas go to waste. tut tut i need to grow up and be an adult and get a tattoo sleeve already.#really i've put off my responsibilities long enough#(in fairness i DID at one time have 18 different piercings)#(but i took most of them out bc they interfere with wearing headphones and/or shoving my face in my pillow during Sleep Time)#(i only kept the nape piercing bc oddly enough it ended up being the most convenient. and the least painful to get now i think about it.)#(neck piercing? no problem. normal pair of earrings? So much of the angst over Traumatized Child Protagonists centers around responsibility, I think.
There's this idea that it's Unfair and Unjust for the protagonists to have had to suffer, fight evil, etc., in a particular way because they're children. Because of this, the narrative or the authority figures or, heck, the entire genre is treated as corrupt, and as having betrayed and victimized the children.
And sometimes that's fair and true! Sometimes it's actually part of the text. Sometimes it wasn't intended as part of the text but it probably should have been. But these criticisms of child-hero stories end up dismissing a few very important facts:
It is in fact universally the case that, for good to prevail, suffering has to be endured and evil has to be fought by people who had nothing to do with the problems, no culpability in them, and no responsibility other than Being In The Right Place At The Right Time. That's a responsibility that has to be accepted regardless. That's what heroism is.
This is unfair no matter who the hero is, but accepting an unfair burden is different than having it thrust upon you. (See: Frodo Ring-Bearer.)
Children and teenagers ARE, in fact, in possession of enough agency to take on such responsibilities of their own free will. They can also be the only people in The Right Place to accomplish a particular good -- just like adults -- without this meaning they're forced into it.
Children have a DESIRE FOR and a RIGHT TO stories where people of their own age and state of life are heroic!
TL;DR, choosing to do the job that's in front of you even when you could walk away -- to accept responsibilities you wouldn't have to shoulder in a just world -- is heroism, not victimization, and children are and want to be capable of that choice, just as adults are. Flattening all Child Heroes into victims takes that capacity away from them.
#child heroes exist because kids want to read about kids being heroic#SOMETIMES the in-universe justifications for why the 12-year-old has to risk his life are bad#but if it's just 'this is a situation that should never have happened but here we are' well. that's life actually#'unfortunately and without anyone planning on it there is a Problem in front of the 12-year-old on which other people's lives depend'#terrible! but fantastic for the 12-year-old readers#who are seeing their age range depicted as CAPABLE of taking responsibility for problems and doing good in the world

bioware devs should get to kill their executives with hammers over this.
however,
it is also true that there was no point in that dev cycle at which they had absorbed the critique that their games are deeply saturated with settler-colonialism, antisemitism & a “clash of civilizations” mentality that hasn’t been unpacked.
both of these things can be true.
#& by clash of civilizations i do mean huntington#it’s so embedded in the text that the early outline of joplin is as bad if not WORSE than datv when it comes to this#please…………….#it is possible to (rightfully) criticize those responsible for the dev cycle falling apart#without acting like Every problem in these games is a result of that dev cycle#it is possible!!!!!#bioware critical

Sua wanted to protect Mizi’s “innocence,” but with the new comics that have been released, it’s become clear that Mizi wasn’t naive about how she’s viewed societally or about the Alien Stage competition itself; what she was naive about was believing she could have some control over her circumstances and over how she is perceived while in the position she was in. That's the innocence Sua wanted her to hold onto for as long as possible.
Sua lets Mizi have control over her—lets her take the lead when it comes to their relationship and feeds into Mizi’s desire for control over her life. Mizi could “crush” her, but she doesn’t, and when Mizi’s emotions do get the best of her, she’s horrified and regretful, knowing that what she did was wrong because she truly loves Sua and doesn’t want to see her hurt.
Sua knows that the bubble that they’ve formed for themselves is the only real place Mizi can have control, because try as she might to live a life the way she wants, Mizi can’t truly change how others see her. Mizi being a kind and joyful person isn’t a lie, but the problem comes with the fact that she’s a people pleaser and tries to keep up that part of herself even when she’s uncomfortable or upset. She tries to skirt around and act oblivious in situations where she knows she could hurt others' feelings because there's a chance that they will hurt her when her wants don’t align with theirs.
Mizi wants others to like her and to be her friend, but the only person she wants romantically is Sua. If she ignores the feelings that the men around her have for her, then hopefully they’ll sort themselves out and everyone will be fine in the end, right? "Please don't confront me, please don't feel entitled to me. I don't want either of us to get hurt."
Even after that unnamed boy physically harms and accuses her of being a manipulator, Mizi gives him the benefit of the doubt. She doesn't want to hurt anyone in any way; she never tried to lead anyone on.
Back then, even before Alien Stage, she felt guilty because she believed this idea of herself that she presented in order to hide her true feelings, a happy-go-lucky and carefree girl, was the reason that others resented her, idolized her, or thought of her so shallowly. She thought that the control she believed she had was what caused others to see and act the way they did to her.
Mizi hiding her “bad” emotions probably did affect how she was perceived a bit, but even if she didn't, would it have mattered? As previously said, she didn’t completely hide away who she truly was; she just played up the part of herself that she knew others liked. Her being completely transparent about everything wouldn’t have stopped some of the men around her from feeling as though she owed them something just because she was a woman; it wouldn’t have stopped people from resenting her for “having it easy.”
Mizi knows what society expects of her but still wants to feel as though she has control, so when she is harmed by societal values and expectations such as heteronormativity, she believes it’s her fault to some extent despite being disgusted with them herself.
This finally leads us to the Alien Stage competition itself. Surely she and Sua can make history with a tie, surely she can control how this ends, and their performance can convince the audience to let them move forward together. Guardian Shine and her family may have not understood her, but as long as she’s loved by her peers, she knows she will survive. She and Sua will show them their love, and they will be loved by them in turn. They are going to make it.
Sua knows better, though. She’s let Mizi have control over her for as long as possible—has let her take the lead for as long as possible. She knows that individually they cannot change the hearts of those that subjugate them, that the audience's love for them will not save them. So she takes the control that she’s granted Mizi back, one of them has to die and Sua’s making sure it’s herself.
(translation by: sorrowcure)
Mizi wants to have control, so her survivor's guilt tries to convince her that she always was the one in control and accuses her that this is what she wanted. She feels as though she can only blame herself for what's happened to those around her.
#alien stage#alnst#alnst sua#alnst mizi#mizisua#alien stage analysis & official content#I think similar to how she wanted her classmates at Anakt to like her she thought that if she convinced the Segyein to like her--#then she could survive and that's half true but the problem comes with thinking she had control of how others viewed her.#She thinks she has more control then she does. That how others see her is her fault thus how they act towards her is also her fault.#She puts to much blame on herself and not her surroundings. In her mind I think she believes she convinced the Segyein like her--#she believes she's responsible for Sua's death.#I think this is the longest analysis post I've written...#uuuhhh I hope it's good or at least a bit good I love Mizi

A big part of Ford's characterization that is very important to me is that, no matter what and no matter what time period we're talking about, if Stan was ever in any serious danger and Ford found out about it, he would do anything to help. Yes, even at his angriest and even when he was saying and thinking the meanest stuff about his brother. Because in all the instances of Stan being in danger and Ford knowing about it that we see (like the dream from j3 and the comic about comic books), helping his brother is not even something that Ford contemplates or thinks about at all. Add to that the way his first reason not to ask Stan for help with the journal (as stated in tbob) is worry that it would put Stan in danger (even if it was expressed in what was probably the meanest and most condescending way possible). And of course also Stan being one of the three people Ford would sacrifice the entire universe for.
Imo for him the question is "why is my brother such an immature dumbass who gets himself into trouble all the time" but never "why do I have to help him out ". And it doesn't matter if the answer to the second one is eventually something along the lines of "because he's my brother and I love him", because I think it's out of character to even ask it, as to him the answer is that obvious. If Stan's in danger then he will save him, because of course he will (and because he doesn't have to even think to know that he'd always rather have the most annoying brother in the world who he's not even on speaking terms with than not have a brother at all)
#siblings. right<3#this mostly goes for reverse portal aus#where Ford just convinces himself that Stan's probably already dead and so there's no point in opening the portal#and i mean yes this man's good at convincing himself of things#but he also CARES#so it's so much more in character for Ford to convince himself that he#the smartest and most special guy ever#is completely cool to reopen the portal because he's so responsible and capable that it'll be completely safe#but im also taking about all the aus where homeless Stan is in very serious trouble (or going through a near death experience even)#and calls Ford#because of course there will be fights#of course Ford will be angry#of course all of their unresolved issues would be a problem#but that's only after Stan's alright and safe#because until then Ford's first emotion would be worry and concern#priorities yk#like i said. better to have an asshole of a brother than not to have a brother at all#gravity falls#stan pines#stanley pines#ford pines#stanford pines#grunkle stan#grunkle ford#stan twins#stangst

the "all customer service people are trained by management to be illiterate apes you can never get any resolutions by design dont be mean about it" crowd would faint to know there is a guy at my bank RIGHT NOW attempting to resolve an issue that would normally take a week
see. i tried to order food (having nothing of note in the house, and too much pain currently to get down 3 flights of stairs about it) and the payment failed on just eat's end.
but it went through fine on my bank's end, so the funds are tied up in "pending"... for a week. my available balance is now 95p so i can't just do it again
the bank cannot typically do anything about this until the normal time frame for collection passes and they funds just release automatically. just eat have zero contactable customer service
but it is for FOOD and there's no more MONEY and i am a DISABLED CUSTOMER so BY FUCKING GOD not on zeeshan's watch
#i said i live by myself - which i do it's kind of the problem right now#so he's actually said 'i fully understand what you're going through so please know i'm here even if you just want to talk to someone#whilst i wait for a response from the product team'#like. ok king#i hope you can always find a pen when you need one and it always works
