WHAT DOES TRAINEE MC STAND FOR ˟
Tumblr media
the first time auditions came around, he can’t say he remembers any of it that clearly, as if the end of the last year and the beginning of the new year was too overwhelming at once. then again, returning back to the trainee cycle, being a few months into it, part of him didn’t think he should be so frivolous to think he could. the process was fun, he remembers that much, joking around with his partner, and hoping the best more so for them than for himself. hell, he’d been ecstatic that chanyeol got it.
there’s moments he doesn’t tell his own friend that the chances he got? he thinks chanyeol wouldn’t have squandered them like he did, that the los angeles native has a helluva lot more resolution than he does, more decisiveness. to this day, he thinks the most confident decisions he’s made since uprooting his entire life to move to seoul once he was legal is pursuing naeun. maybe doing the mgas too but even that came with its ups and downs.
thinking back on it now, he can laugh but, back then, it was never-ending. that gut-wrenching feeling of pending elimination or, worse, the idea that he was being kept on for views only. the win convinced him they worked hard and deserved it. everyone did in the end. it brings him back to this moment, to knowing that he should continue to strive, to make up his damn mind, and go after everything he wants without shame.
the thought of debut, of whether or not he can again, consumed him til now, til he decides he just wants to enjoy the opportunities given to him, from assisting in a class to auditions. back when he moved to seoul, that thrill was one of the best and it’s only fitting that he continues to do auditions when it comes to trc, isn’t it? his first official audition in seoul.
different segments and scripts are given and he can’t help thinking it’d be crazier if they had to improv it all but this is probably how most variety goes, right? a script that the audience is unaware of, despite the cards held in idols’ hands at times. it’s an image he falls for too but, that all aside, he likes the casual moments the most, the impromptu ones, the reactions of the idols and the mcs in reaction to them the most. it gives that feeling of friendship and genuine camaraderie that he thrives off of so before they head in, he’s talking to his partner, trying to hype him up, and the excitement is electrifying by the time they’re called in. he wants to hold onto that feeling for as long as he can and he looks to his partner with a sly grin right when they’re told to start.
Tumblr media
when it’s his turn to introduce himself, he’s too proud of his joke, too proud to say “hey, what’s up everyone, it’s your favorite mc, mason choi.” the ‘m’ emphasized as he draws it out, pointing to himself and clapping his hands together with a bright laugh. “we’ve got plenty of sweet treats up our sleeve. honey, are you still guessing?” his partner’s laugh is infectious and minho pretends just as he’s meant to, scratching the back of his head for good measure. “ah, yes, it’s in the video’s title after all. aren’t you all a bunch of smarti— ah, can we say a candy name here?” snickering, he holds up the script, gesturing towards the camera with a smile. “park doha’s candy. whoo!” he claps once again, giving a small wave of his body as he sings again, “girl i’m your candy.”
Tumblr media
their chemistry is better than he could’ve expected and relief is only one word to describe how he feels as they continue through one script to the next segment. with added props for games, minho can’t help getting distracted at first, enthusiastically shaking his head.
Tumblr media
he leaves the explanation of the game to his partner for the most part because, thankfully, he took the other part and truth be told he’s not sure how the game works but he’s more than ready to go all out. it’s the obvious loss that gets him in the end and it’s his luck that he’s meant to act exasperated, genuinely feeling so once the headband is free of his head and he holds up the slinky-headband combo with a heavy sigh. “as expected, our guest is the best,” he alludes to one of their released song tracks— though pretending someone is there as a guest is odd after pretending to play a game with them too, one he still doesn’t understand.
Tumblr media
“though our guests have to slink away, don’t forget to check out their latest comeback and to follow our channel’s social media for more content!” he almost launches into the typical youtuber ending and, as a joke, when they walk out of the room, he’s leaning closer to his partner, hand on their shoulder to say it anyway, thanking them for the experience. “no matter what, it was really fun.”

Happy Puppy
@rkpcy
As per usual though, something got in the way of her plans—in this case it was her aunt's friend's kid's dog. It was a cute medium poodle, but as she wasn't knowledgeable of dog breeds, she could only say that it had a really cute face.
Now, she had no problem with pets, they were cute and all and maybe she'd think about it if she wasn't a trainee, but since she was a trainee, she'd rather relax or meet with non-trainee friends she didn't get to see as often.
The two were walking through the city and she wondered whether the dog would be happier running freely over grass than trotting over the cold, paved way next to her. She felt like she would, if she was a dog.
Currently he was trying to get out of his collar and she pulled out the list to see if there was anything specific she was supposed to do. Chaeryeong didn't need to feel like she had to hurry, after all his owner put on the collar so it should be fine, right? Wrong. He got free and with his cute, little legs started running of.
“Hey,” she shouted and hurried after him. How was such a small dog so fast?
The race came to a surprising end, when the dog stopped and started showing interest in a stranger, running around the young man and jumping up in front of him, barking for attention.
“Stop it!” she said determined, but the dog didn't care. “Mudkip, stop it!” she repeated. She still found the name kind of weird—apparently it was from some game, not that she'd know, though. But more importantly, the dog still happily jumped around the person. She quickly picked him up and re-fastened his collar and leash.
“Sorry, I'm just looking after him today,” she finally addressed the person and, looking up, realised that he was a fellow trc trainee. Great, that must've made a great impression.

                          ╰☆╮ SAGITTARIUS SQUAD ╰☆╮
Kangaroo - Triple Position (Woojin) | @danielxrk, @rkpcy
It seemed like fate was playing tricks on him once again considering Sungmin was once again working with Daniel. Even though it had been some months since the two friends last worked together, history was once again repeating itself. Sungmin didn’t mind, however, and was actually pleased to be working with Daniel once again. Meeting Chanyeol had been surprisingly pleasant and the two rappers managed to get along which helped their working together.
This month’s evaluation theme was, well, unique and something that the rapper had least expected. Sungmin had never paid any mind to what his star sign was or how it related to him. He had had to look up what his star sign was once the announcement was released since he had zero idea. Even as preparations began and the month came to and end, Sungmin was still clueless as to what the hell a Sagittarius was.
Finding a song that fit with the Sagittarius theme had been difficult and it had taken some time before the trio had settled on a song. Once they had agreed on what they were going to perform, the group then set about preparing and rehearing for the end of the month evaluation.
As each month passed, Sungmin found himself improving on his rapping and he’s been able to learn new tips and tricks. He’s also been able to learn new skills that he hopes could come in handy one day. Still, a big part of him misses his old life and performing underground and he often ponders whether or not to return to his underground life or to keep pursuing his new life. Sungmin was still not sure if he wanted to be an idol and he missed the freedom that he had once had.
Despite his uncertainties, Sungmin prepared for September’s evaluation and rehearsed hard with Daniel and Chanyeol. He focused on memorising the lyrics as well as work on his stage presence and rap techniques. There was some singing required for this evaluation and those were the parts he spent the most time working on since he was not a singer.
When it was time for their performance, Sungmin felt confident that the trio would pass the evaluation easily. They had worked hard rehearsing and preparing and Sungmin only hoped it showed in their performance.

it wasn’t everyday that jaemin went out of his way to buy something for hisself. if anything, he was fine with wearing the clothes he had stored up in his duffle until they were more tear than wear. but he had had enough of his aunt whining on and on that he was started to look more of a bum with each passing day. so, to lessen her worries  –  here he was, quite fortunate for the turn of events that the moment he was going to be shopping around for clothes, that a flea market had turned up on his doorstep ; quite literally.
he supposed casually-looking wouldn’t do him very good ; which was why he had brought on the big guns, in hope that having a friend with him would keep him concentrated on his goal for new clothes. if anything, if nothing worked out  –  he and chanyeol could fuck off and grab some snacks instead. no matter, it’d still be a win / win scenario. “ eh – i feel like none of these are really me, dude. like …. do you think i could wear this? ” he asks, hoisting a colorful hawaiian shirt against his lean frame, glancing from the button down to his friend.

▫︎ ▪︎  ━ ʀᴋsᴘᴇᴀᴋᴜᴘ ʙᴏᴅʏ ᴘᴇʀᴄᴜssɪᴏɴ ᴡᴏʀᴋsʜᴏᴘ
Tumblr media
gahyeon doesn’t expect it when she’s pulled aside by one of their trainers and told she’d be assisting with an idol workshop. she’s even more surprised when, 1. the workshop is something she’s never done before, and 2. it was being run by non-other than haknyeon. she guesses it makes sense. after all, gahyeon had experience teaching dance – but it’s been so long since she’s actively taught, not to mention, she would be assisting alongside a fellow mga season 3 alum. gahyeon remembers hearing about per_se’s debut, and even hearing that haknyeon would be debuting with them, but gahyeon still had trouble believing that people she knew were debuting. it seemed that it would never sink in – she could hardly imagine what it would be like if she would debut.
it was odd to be so busy for once. of course, gahyeon always had evaluations to worry about, and was almost always working on a choreography for her youtube channel, but it never felt like this. with having begun filming for iqs with minhee and chanyeol, as well as focusing on her rapping for this month’s evaluation ( which was proving to be pretty nerve-wracking, considering the whole competition aspect of it all ), gahyeon was already up to her throat in activity. adding another thing on top of it meant that there wasn’t really a moment she wasn’t busy. there always seemed to be something going on.
gahyeon doesn’t think she’d have it any other way. after all, she doesn’t quite feel that same drag she had been the past few months. while gahyeon’s sure that she’s not completely out of the woods, that just because the shadow was gone now didn’t mean it would be gone forever – but it had lifted for now, and gahyeon wanted to make the most of it. she wasn’t out of the woods, but she was toeing the line. it couldn’t have come at a better time.
learning the choreography wasn’t too difficult, although it was quite different. after all, gahyeon had never done body percussion before, but she was always an eager student. she learned quickly to ensure she’d be the best assistant she could be. it had been so long since she’d actively taught that she couldn’t help but feel the need to over-prepare for the occasion.
haknyeon wanted to keep things light – he wasn’t looking for perfection, he just wanted everyone to have fun. gahyeon, despite her recently adapted teaching style, wanted to ensure that she upheld that wish. this was his workshop, and gahyeon wanted to honor what he wanted people to get out of it. so, she allowed her usual rules to relax as she taught and assisted. whenever anyone pulled her to the side to get some help, she wouldn’t be nearly as nit-picky as she usually would’ve been. after all, they weren’t trainees preparing for a company evaluation – these were dancers who wanted to enjoy a workshop with their favorite idol. they weren’t here for gahyeon, and she was okay with that. she just wanted everyone to enjoy themselves.
it wasn’t hard for gahyeon to adapt her own mindset to haknyeon’s. gahyeon’s sure that, two years ago, she would’ve had the same thoughts – she wouldn’t have been so focused on the details in her head. she probably wouldn’t have even had to ignore the thoughts bouncing around in the back of her head.
gahyeon knew she had always been so self-critical. if anything it was what defined her early career as a dancer. she was always focused on being the absolute best she could be, but she wasn’t quite sure when she’d become so critical of other people. she guesses that came with being a trainee. honing in on other people’s mistakes so she could avoid making the same mistake. or, she would be asked to help another trainee and opted to be as critical ( and nice –  she never tried to be mean ) as she could be. trainees strived for perfection, and the only way that could happen was to be conscious of every movement they made. but, if she really thinks about it, gahyeon’s sure that this was how she fell out of love with dance. although she forced herself to choreography a routine a month, it wasn’t nearly as fun as gahyeon remembered it being before she was signed.although she enjoyed it, it just wasn’t the same.
she thinks she knows why now.
not having to be so critical, not having to pick apart the routine piece by piece, made dancing so much more enjoyable. although it was exceedingly annoying to remind herself not to criticize if something wasn’t just right, it was easier to fall back into than she’d thought it would be. to be more caring and exude her earlier ideologies about dance was much easier.
because gahyeon has always believed that everyone can dance.
gahyeon guesses that it hasn’t actually been all that long since she’s actually used that idea. only a year ago, after jiwoo had signed, gahyeon had an adapted version. but it hadn’t been the same. jiwoo needed to be taught. although she was perhaps a bit stricter – after all, jiwoo needed to be perfect to be a trainee – it wasn’t like when she’d taught back at iMage. it hadn’t been the same – but the ideology was still there. it had been close, and it had been great.
this, gahyeon thinks, is that much better. and its been so long since she’s actually been able to relax while dancing; to not be thinking about her every step while she was moving, to not be placing every single movement under scrutiny. it was a little relieving to finally have some time to not hyper-focus on everything and just ... dance.
gahyeon knew she would have a could time, but she doesn’t really expect to have as much fun as she does. she laughs and cheers on the attendees as they dance, and especially as they freestyle alongside haknyeon. it’s easier to teach while she’s more focused on making sure everyone’s enjoying themselves and learning the choreography versus making sure every angle was perfected. she could hardly believe how freeing it was to actually teach again. while this wasn’t her own workshop, gahyeon’s sure that, had she had her own, it wouldn’t have been near as fun.

child’s play,
@rkpcy may 29, voice acting class
they were sitting next to each other in that lecture hall, their arms a respectable few inches away from touching. jisoo has a notepad and a pen held daintily between her fingers and she scribbles any important information that catches her interest. in a lot of ways, it feels like she was back at university. this time, perhaps more engaging and less pressuring. she was only slated for two classes that day, opting to forego the rest because there was nothing else of interest. learning the basics of voice acting sounds promising, even though she never truly expressed an interest in it before.
she would have thought that as soon as she stepped inside this room and found his eyes amongst everyone else’s that she would have a hard time. instead, they were quiet and surprisingly, very professional. maybe because they knew just what is at stake here. maybe because they knew this was the last place in the world where they both want to fool around. or perhaps it is because they know, that after all of this, they have enough time to fall into each other’s arms at home.
truly, that was enough for her to keep her hands firmly at her side.
"have you ever watched this cartoon?” she asks, turning to glance at him, brows furrowed as she then reads the script that was flashed on screen as well as the accompanying video. “they said it’s famous but i don’t think i have ever seen it.” a pause, she focuses on the characters flitting about. “i suppose it’s cute, though.”

@rkpcy
According to her roommate Jongsuk the person who is hosting the show is pretty cool dude, the moment she met Chanyeol she came to conclusion that all giants must known each other and secret meetings since he was pretty tall compare others too. Before the filming officially started she took the opportunity to introduce herself to the other person she’ll be working with, “Hi there! I’m Taeyeon! I’m looking forward working with-- I don’t think we ever really crossed paths before so I’m curious on how we get along~” she greeted him in usual cheerful manner wondering whether they do get long create new friendship or maybe they just put up with one another making their relationship strictly professional one. Taeyeon already got lovely friendship with Yooa so it would be great if they all become close friends when working on this show together besides it would look good on camera too and make it much more appealing for audience to watch too. Everyone prefers seeing real friendships on a show than rather fake friendships so people can see right through it, Taeyeon got a good feeling that wouldn’t be the case at all.

                       ✧ SECOND TIME’S THE CHARM ✧
Uh Oh (lines) | @yuzurk, @rkyooa, @gahyecnrk, @jiwoork Hero (lines) | @rkpcy, @rkmason, @rkhwichan, @danielxrk
Of all the evaluations for Im Yoona to be hit with on her second time around, they had to choose this one. Not only did she have to perform two songs, but she also needed to do one that was her dream concept, and another that was her horror one. The only problem? Yoona didn’t really mind what kind of concept she was given. She didn’t have a dreaded, nor a desired one. She was versatile and she adapted easily. All Yoona cared about was singing.
Still, she had to at least pretend like she had a dreaded and a dream concept when she was placed in her groups. For her ‘dream’ she was placed in Uh Oh, which was exciting for her. Not only could she meet Yena once again and make new friends, but she could also have fun. Uh Oh was a fun and energetic charismatic song that one could play with. Her ‘horror’ concept group was Hero, which wasn’t really horrible. The only thing she wasn’t going to find easy was the shirt lifting part of the choreography. Still, she got over the awkwardness quickly and she focused on the performance. For many, being the only female in the group would be uncomfortable and nerve-wracking. For Yoona, however, it was nothing. She was in her element being surrounded by guys. Having two brothers helped with this.
Rehearsals for both dances had their ups and downs and there was a lot of uneasiness and uncertainty. It was only Yoona’s second evaluation since signing with Nova and she had been thrown in the deep end. Hero’s choreography was harder and more precise whereas Uh Oh was fun and energetic. She honestly enjoyed both choreographies and the energy both groups produced. They were different, but in a good way. By the end of the month, Yoona was feeling happy with the way the rehearsals were going and she was feeling confident that both performances would be amazing.
Until it came to performance day.
Yoona was past the point of freaking out. It seemed that this was becoming a norm when it came to judged performances in front of a panel. She was never this nervous when she was performing in a musical or normally, but whenever she had to perform in a situation such as evaluations (or mga auditions) she panicked. Her palms were sweating as she gripped the seat tightly. She tried to breathe to calm herself down (which never worked). The only thing that got her through the doors was the knowledge that there were people relying on her.
Yoona sang her heart out as she danced the choreography for both songs. While both performances gave off different vibes, they both went rather well and Yoona did her best to match the energy and feeling of the songs she was performing. She was worn out by the end of the second performance, but she was proud. She was proud of everyone in both groups as well as herself for walking through the doors. Everyone had performed amazingly and Yoona was happy.

rkspeakup with @rkpcy
the posing for pictorials class had interested chaewon because it was something new-- at all of 154 centimeters, modeling had never been on her future career path, despite her love of fashion and the camera. but if she does go into the entertainment industry, which is looking like an increasingly attractive prospect, there will be photoshoots involved. and it’s just fun, anyway.
of course, she ends up sitting next to some skyscraper-tall, gorgeous guy who could very well be a model already. “so be honest, are you here for the class or for miss doyeon up there?” she jokes, casting a glance from him to the beautiful idol who’s about to start the class. it really is amazing; chaewon thought for sure that she wouldn’t look as good in real life, but it turned out to be the opposite. some people are just blessed, she thinks with a wistful sigh.
she figures that most people here want to become stars, but the promise of personally meeting an idol would draw in a lot of fans, too. “i didn’t know much about k.arma, but i think i’m getting gradually pulled in by them,” she admits with a laugh, idly chattering away to the stranger beside her. “i wish i could be in a group like that. they seem really badass. typical trc, i guess.”

bae jinyoung’s may ‘20 eval singing to 2ne1 GLOBAL ICON - Missing You as covered by WINNER B1A4 trc boys 1: @rkseongmin, @rkxjongsuk, @rkseunghun, @rkpcy line distribution
this evaluation had been easier than he thought it was going to be
sure, it was still a daunting idea to know that he was going to have to perform with his group in front of the company ceo’s and the other groups as well. but he supposed he could pull of a completely serious audition with a ukulele and sunglasses in front of tiger jk, then he could bloody well do this as well. and it helped that he was in a group with some talented guys. jordan was always more than happy to say that they were far more talented than he was. which was why he certainly wasn’t complaining with how little lines he had ended up with. enough to prove himself, but not enough that the more talented vocalists didn’t get enough limelight.
they even had a secret weapon: chanyeol with a guitar.
jordan had been more than tempted to write out some ukulele tabs as well and bring it along, but he had decided against it in the end. that was probably be a stupid idea. instead he was just going to bringing along to this evaluation a winning smile and his voice. not that it was an incredible voice or anything, but it would be enough. hopefully enough to win as well and prove that trc was on top.
he wasn’t worried about going up the sphere boys, he was confident in their own abilities to beat them. and as he stood there with the rest of his team being watched by each of the ceo’s he just found himself smiling. maybe doing this for a living wasn’t such a bad idea. it was not really what he had been planning on doing with his life, sure, but standing on a stage with people watching was a nice feeling. he was an entertainer at heart and while this was not the normal entertainment he provided on youtube, it was still good. enjoyable, even.
and when they started singing and putting on their performance he just found himself smiling even more. he had people counting on him, but he could also rely on them as well. it was a two way street, much different from sitting behind a camera and only having to worry about himself.
he had a part to play in this song and he was making sure to play it to the best of his ability, giving the few lines he did have his best effort. if they wanted to win this rivalry then he would have to give his all. there was no point in settling for something half-assed just because it might be easier. jordan wasn’t willing to make it easy. so he sung his heart out while he could, trying to prove that maybe he could be a serious performer and not just a crackhead 100% of the time. (not that he would ever give up being a part-time crackhead).
and when the performance was finally over, jordan found himself standing up just a little bit straighter than before. they had done well, worked as a team and he was quietly confident that they had all gotten to show off their voices. and sure, he might not be the best vocalist, but he could most certainly sing when he wanted to.

TRIPLE CROWN ENTERTAINMENT, or TRC for short, was founded by the former composer and rap artist, TIGER JK. originally created on nothing, Tiger JK's ambition to have his trainees carry on his legacy became an avant garde sensation in the States, Japan and Korea. Currently, TRC Entertainment remains the hardest company to enter. The training period for TRC Ent. is brutal and only a few trainees ever get to see the limelight of the stage. Only the most talented artists can survive TRC's rigorous training and see the shining end to their efforts.

BAM BAM BA BA BA BUM 발라버려  ˟                                              (         GET READY TO REACT        )
preparations for this month’s performance feel more casual and he owes it to the fact that it’s chanyeol; that, instead, it feels more like they’re working on a song in their free time to cover for fun or to try and make their own as a challenge. it’s all fun and games until they burn with the passion to modify, create, master.
a song like monster gets him hype at all times. a style he’s enjoyed for years, that he believes he could listen to in twenty years and still wanna mouth the words along. he says mouth because he’s sung aloud way too many times on public transportation in the past to the point that one of the local drivers in his hometown would tease him to stay quiet today. the energy in the performance itself relies a lot on them, on their individual prowess on the stage and their chemistry together.
no matter how minho jokes about being a clown, he thinks that image is destroyed when he has a mic in his hand, a monster that tears his previous image apart, leaving nothing to spare, leaving everything on that stage. it’s one of the many things he loves about performing at all. you could be anyone and he remembers writing something like that to his previous ceo after the first time he was on the mgas, that he wanted to prove someone like him could do it, that he could be powerful and stand out in his own way.
he gets it more now. even though chanyeol joked about it when they were practicing, of outshining him, he felt at ease with it, laughed. when baek jiyoung said it to him, he was hurt, spiraled into his own memories and he gets the difference all over again. he’s thought it about, thinks it again, it’s always been about his reaction, about him. being in trc is a great influence, but what helps him on stage is the journey he took to get here; it’s the fact that he’s more healed now and if that ain’t one hell of a confidence booster, he doesn’t know what is. his confidence practically oozes from his fingertips in the way he grips the mic, how he tosses his body into each gesture, pronunciation clear as he the energy between them bounces back and forth, climbs and peaks til the very end.      발라버려

boo!
@rkpcy
she practices a lot this month. if to give herself something to do, and not settle into the domino effect of thoughts overthinking will do to her. so after a session of dancing, she peruses into the cafeteria tiredly, hood pulled over her head as she goes to purchase a bottle of water and a small snack. after, she swings her goodies by her leg as she walks through, but pauses when she sees the familiar form of chanyeol. he isn't facing her, which brings a slow grin to her mouth.
she approaches cautiously, as quiet as she can-- and she's sure she looks a bit silly, reminscent of a predator about to pounce on prey. once she gets close enough, she slaps her hands on his shoulders and raises her voice, "what are you munchin' on?" she says in english, leaning over his head to flash a grin at him upside down. "boo, did i scare you?" she teases, before straightening her form and moving to plop down next to him. “ooh, whatcha got? can i have some?” she bats her eyelashes at him playfully, grin sharpening as she laughs.

⟨ ━━ - ̗̀  done for me ⟩
a starter for @rkpcy
after the month of being on the same team as the older male, even if she hadn’t been the most social-- somehow she had naturally started calling him oppa along the way. however she wasn’t entierly sure if the older trainee was alright with her doing that. yeji sometimes forgot about how seniority was a huge thing in korea-- her years in america was the blame.
“chanyeol op... sunbae?” she voiced, hesitating for a moment when she saw him inside.
it was already time for lunch, yeji hadn’t eaten a proper breakfast-- not on purpose but because she had forgotten.
“are you going to eat as well?”
she lifted her eyes at the male, she had felt like she had slowly but surely gotten closer to the male but that might just be her imagination, “if so would you like to eat together?” yeji didn’t really want to eat alone, with her own thoughts.

tall worries

it’s early in the morning, as it always is at the beginning of a long day of training, and doyum was still struggling to get his eyes opened this morning. the teen looking a bit more worse for wear today in a black hoodie and sweats, he hadn’t even taken time to do his hair which was odd for mister fashion conscious doyum. but considering what had happened this time last year, and the fact he was having some trouble sleeping these days, doyum decided it would be fine to let his look slip. it’s not as if he’s popular or famous, so he wouldn’t show up in a paper with an embarrassing photo.
thus he was making his way into the trc building with is hood pulled up, hands half hidden in the sleeves of the over sized hoodie, and a yawn spilling past his lips every few minutes no matter how he tried to stop it. thanks to this, he almost missed the figure of one of his hyungs walking ahead of him. the teen squinting behind his glasses ( the lazy day had also meant no contacts ) to see who it was and making a soft oh face when he registered the tall figure. sleep, and kind of clingy, doyum picked up his pace to match with chanyeol before slipping one hand around the olders. “morning hyung.” he mutters quietly, his voice scratchy. and his head tilts as he turn his gaze upwards onto the older.
now, he knows their height difference isn’t really that of him standing beside namsan tower, but sometimes doyum really does feel like standing beside chanyeol is how it feels to be beside the tower. seoul tower, namsan tower, maybe even the space needle in the usa too. the older is just so tall. and doyum is... not.
“do you eat a lot of trees or something to get that tall?” he blurts before he can stop himself, his tired mind not catching up to itself or his mouth which let words just run wild. the teen ears going red as he blushed, embarrassed. yet also not backing up from the odd question. as he really did wonder some days if chanyeol was just munching down giant ass trees and thus his height shot up to that of a giant ass tree. “....i mean..... you’re just so tall, hyung........... i wanna be like you.”

the second iqs episode is just gahyeon and chanyeol, which she has to admit is sort of terrifying. after all, gahyeon has to admit that she used minhee as a crutch the previous week – it was much easier to do that being the newest host, after all. but after minhee had informed gahyeon that she would not be present for this episode, she was determined to learn everything she could as quickly as possible. gahyeon would be a liar if she said she hadn’t gone back to watch previous episodes, as well as other variety shows online, to try and get some general tips and tricks to be a better host. after all, while chanyeol would still be there, gahyeon and minhee were the two who played the games with the guests and their jobs weren’t quite the same. despite this, chanyeol still seemed to step more into minhee’s role – after all, it couldn’t be a 2 vs 1 situation – and it was surprisingly easy to work without minhee. of course, gahyeon would prefer for the elder to be there – but still.
gahyeon thinks that this episode is a little easier because it’s with none other than the luxe girls. granted, gahyeon wouldn’t say she’s the closest with either girl considering cheri debuted before gahyeon had even been signed and ashe had been a sphere trainee before replacing xayah as luxe’s new main rapper when xayah had left. however, gahyeon ( understandably ) had a soft spot for any main rapper out there, so maybe she looked up to ashe just a little bit. but gahyeon had seen and met both in passing considering they were now all under the same company, so it was almost easier to interact with them. the girls were sweet, and gahyeon enjoyed playing games with them – which she was already figuring was going to be a common occurrence with all their guests.
once the camera stops rolling, gahyeon easily thanks the luxe girls for joining them and breathes out a breath she hadn’t realized she was holding. overall, she felt like she was doing well, and that she was interacting well with the guests. there was nowhere she could go but up from here, after all – from no skill to at least some skill, which she was sure that she would be able to do alongside minhee and chanyeol.
