Queer Headcanons for Guardians of the Galaxy
idk i'm gay and it's pride month and I like to write these characters as queer as possible so i wanna share my personal headcanons for each of the gang.
Peter: Bisexual. This man has fucked aliens with tentacles and needles for teeth and you're telling me he draws the line at men? No way. He and Thor totally pity-banged each other once.
Gamora: I have no reason for this whatsoever, but I really want Gamora to be bi, too. Ravager!Gamora uses her freedom from Thanos to experiment a little in that regard.
Nebula: Nebula gives off pansexual vibes to me in the sense that I feel she very rarely feels attraction at all and when she does, the person's gender doesn't factor into it. I also feel like she'd be demisexual. Also I sometimes headcanon her as trans or genderqueer, usually in Human AUs.
Drax: I feel like Drax is omnisexual and attracted to more masculine traits and appearances. The way he was talking about Thor lol. He likes his women buff and that's a mood.
Mantis: There are two versions of Mantis that exist in my head. One of them is aroace purely because of this one interview I saw with Pom Klementieff back in 2017 where she said she didn't think Mantis was "sexual", but I feel like it's kinda lame to headcanon the "cute and innocent" character as being ace xD. So then there's also my other version of Mantis that's a lesbian and kinda covertly horny xD (I write her as gay in Time After Time lol)
Kraglin: He's pan, too, and kind of a serial dater. He also gives me poly vibes for some reason. He and Yondu totally had something going on; I like shipping them legitly and as exes xD
Yondu: This man wouldn't give two shits about labels. He just knows when he's attracted to someone and doesn't care about what their gender is.
Rocket: I don't ship Rocket with anyone, but since writing Loud Love and getting a comment about it, I lean hard into this raccoon being a sex-repulsed ace.
Adam: Adam is kinda too child-coded for me to ship with anyone and I'm unsure of an exact headcanon for him but I love the idea of people of all genders hitting on him because he's handsome and Adam having no idea that's what's happening.
Groot: Just loves his weird gay family.
Cosmo: A good dog. <3

this question just came to my mind and has been lingering around in my noggin so
if rocket raccoon were to get his own solo movie, what kind of plot would you want to see???
CLOVER BLOSSOM! i missed you ♡ i hope life is treating you to a hundred gentle kindnesses and tasty snacks. this is a great question — thank you so much for asking it!! — and i really wrestled with it. because i think it’s actually so important for our guy to be part of an ensemble cast? he’s been solo for far too long? the map of rocket’s entire life and so many pieces of his identity (especially in the mcu) are based on this aching, painful tension between loneliness & connection: the forced alienation at the hands of his abuser and an uncaring universe; the self-inflicted isolation of his survival strategies and fears and guilty conscience — versus love, empathy, support, communication. joy-sharing. trust. friendship.and not only finding these things, not only offering them — but letting himself accept them, too. letting himself embrace them for himself.
so i think any movie i’d like to see with mcu-rocket would have to have some sort of relational component. (not me, writing way too much raccoon-smut.)
i’ll be honest. i think we got robbed in not seeing gunn’s short film about rocket meeting groot & tibius lark. i would love a rocket & groot film so much, and i'd love to use this as the (really long) cold open for the start of "my" movie. we would zip through the star-systems and asterisms, zooming in on whatever rancid incarceration-space-station gunn had in mind [feature coordinates here], and sink straight from the stardust right down into the pit-prison. rocket, groot, & lark would already be there — rocket trying to figure out his own escape.
i broke outta eleven prisons. this one ain’t no different.
lark will start storytelling, explaining his history with groot — then extracting rocket’s promise to take care of the flora colossus. perhaps, in the course of this conversation — a word i use loosely — lark would express a certainty that rocket would benefit from groot’s company as much as groot would benefit from his.
it’s good to have friends, lark might remind him.
once he’s secured rocket’s promise and groot’s safety, lark dies — which is when rocket uses lark’s leftover (robot) bodyparts to build a means of escape. then, as gunn described, rocket and groot burst upward from the pit, escaping their prison.
[roll marvel opening logo, with all the superimposed images in the letters being frames from rocket & groot comics]
we’d reopen in space, in some ship rocket had stolen from the prison. our two heroes have gotten far away already, and are about as safe as two fugitives with bounties on their heads can be. rocket would be trying to come up with a plan to get rid of groot while still honoring his promise to lark (more or less). he hates what he’s gotten himself saddled with, but he’s not going to break his word, either. lark had mentioned that groot had come from planet x/taluhnia, so rocket decides he’ll take the flora colossus back to his home planet and drop him off — wash the dust from his hands, and go back to hunting bounties and blowing up moons. good deed complete.
groot tries to protest, but rocket doesn’t understand him yet. still, groot’s distress is obvious. rocket only rolls his eyes and pushes onward, more and more irritated by his new ward.
unfortunately, when they arrive on taluhnia, rocket discovers that groot's people are long gone, and his planet is being systematically destroyed: flora colossi slaughtered, forests leveled in the name of planetary harvest. enter our villain: something more-or-less (depending on how cartoonishly-comicky you want to go) inspired by beavertron incorporated, under the advisement of shareholder castor gnawbarque (from blue river score, 2017). a little hacking on rocket’s part informs the duo that taluhnia is not the only planet beavertron has its hands all over. the company's a real piece of work, colonizing and destroying dozens — maybe hundreds — of cultures and planets in order to seize their natural resources.
groot is horrified by this additional information, of course: so many planets, at risk of being destroyed like his own. rocket is starting to understand groot a little better — he can at least read his body language and expressions — and though our little ringtailed guy is disgusted by beavertron, he still tells the flora colossus not to overreact.
don’t you know anything? this is just how people are.
rocket does, however, get super-frustrated when he realizes that his plan to dump groot on taluhnia can no longer — under any stretch of the imagination — be considered sufficient in keeping his promise to tibius lark. it gets him incredibly pissed, i'm sure — pulling his whiskers, probably kicking some grass — before finally sighing with his whole fucken chest and admitting that he guesses he's gotta blow up a frickin' coorporation now, 'cause how else is he gonna get rid of his adopted idiot?
oh rocket. i love it when you try to justify why you're doing something good.
anyway, highjinks ensue. rocket and groot probably manage to incapacitate gnawbarque — maybe there’s a collective somewhere that will pay good money to put this monster on trial. maybe beavertron collapses without gnawbarque, or maybe it hovers in the background to return for a future movie (perhaps volume two or three involves a heist at beavertron headquarters — trying to get some information down the corporation for good).
when the chaos settles and justice has been (more or less) administered, groot stands in the midst of a flattened taluhnisan old growth forest — bereft. rocket stands beside him, grappling with the increasingly-clear knowledge that groot really is the last flora colossus, and maybe this is the moment that our guy begins to realize how much he has in common with his new friend. i imagine rocket tries to offer some comfort — like he did for nebula in infinity war. a gentle, awkward pat on the hand, which groot tenderly and gratefully accepts. i imagine groot seeds as much of the forest as he can with his glowing spores, helping the leftover plantlife grow into something lovely and alive — but not sentient. the planet of taluhnia becomes a bittersweetly-beautiful living memorial.
and i imagine they both cry together. and perhaps that's when rocket begins understanding groot’s speech — fully, for the first time.
and then — standing side-by-side, silhouetted under the taluhnisan sky — rocket says, you know, i could probably bring in some bigger bounties if i hired some muscle. make more money that way.
oh rocket. i still love it when you try to justify why you're doing something good.
and then my babies fly off into the stars together.
[roll credits]
our post-credits scene will just be a montage of groot and rocket in various prison cells, with rocket nonchalantly saying i broke outta ## prisons. this one ain’t no different. on repeat. ad nauseam.

hi! do you have any recommendations for peter quill/gotg comics?
Okay, since you asked for recommendations, I'll give you what I personally like
- Marvel Preview #4: Star-Lord's origin story, since you specified him
Now let's jump to the modern Guardians of the Galaxy as a whole
- Annihilation: This right here is the very beginning of what will be the Guardians one day. Extremely good. I'd recommend you look for a trade so it'll include
• Drax the Destroyer: Earthfall
• Annihilation: Prologue
• Annihilation: Nova
• Annihilation: Ronan
• Annihilation
• There's also Annihilation: Silver Sufer and Annihilation: Super Skrull, but you can skip those since your goal is the GOTG
- Nova (2007): You can also skip this. However! It deals with the consequences of the Annihilation, Nova later becomes a member of the Guardians AND it's also extremely good. So... Your choice
- Annihilation: Conquest: Even more setting up for the Guardians, you'll see familiar faces like Rocket, Groot, Mantis and others.
• Annihilation Conquest: Prologue
• Annihilation Conquest: Star-Lord (my favorite of the Conquest event AND the one that joins what basically becomes the Guardians)
• Annihilation Conquest: Quasar (wlw and dragons!)
• Annihilation Conquest
• There's also Annihilation Conquest: Waith, but again, not essential to the Guardians. Plus a tie-in in the Nova series if you're reading it ;)
- Guardians of the Galaxy (2008): The first run of the modern version of the Guardians. My pride and joy. I love it SO MUCH. You can, of course, skip all the Annihilation stuff and start reading here, but I honestly think the familiarity with the characters and their traumas that comes with the war makes this series even better
- Thanos Imperative: An extremely good mini and a perfect ending to this phase of cosmic Marvel
Then we have... Stuff. Some good, a lot not so much. Let's skip to the good, shall we?
- Star-Lord (2017): Pretty fun and with great art! I love it a lot
- Nova (2017): If you're keeping up with our dear Rich Rider, here's where he comes back. Again, excellent series with great art
- Rocket (2017): At some point, someone thought "hey let Al Ewing write some cosmic Marvel". That person was a genius and has all my respect. Holy shit, what a GREAT mini. Please read this
- Guardians of the Galaxy (2019): Not perfect, but pretty enjoyable. I like it. Read it or skip it 🤷‍♀️
- Guardians of the Galaxy (2020): Later, someone thought "hey Al Ewing was great at writing Rocket, what if he wrote GOTG?". I'd sell my soul for that person. And for Al Ewing, of course. This, folks, is the true sequel to GOTG (2008) and it's absolutely PERFECT. I honestly have no words for how much I love it and how much I appreciate what it did with each of its characters. Simply amazing
And that's that! There has been no run after that one, I have no idea what you're talking about hahaha (seriously don't read it)

good men down!
This WIP (Marvel Black Sails AU) has haunted me since like 2017. I had a ton more in the outline but I think I could wrap up what I've already introduced in like two chapters, I just have to get my shit together and write it. And unfortunately all my historical notes are under the bed and I burned out on Marvel around Endgame.
I just opened up the unfinished chapter and since I don't remember any of it it's like a fun adventure:
On the seventh day, God rested. On the seventh day, Anthony Stark does no such thing, and every word out of his mouth drives Erik a little closer to homicide. God help him, he’s started answering Stark’s questions, in the hopes that that would make him stop. Stark’s gone over the ship six, seven times now, detail by detail, looking for ways he can improve it, or something. Given that Stark hasn’t been on a ship in his goddamn life, some of the men are starting to get on edge about it. Some of the other men seem to have tried to adopt Tony as a pet of sorts. “Stark,” he says. Do I come into your home, pick apart all its flaws, and tell you how to make it better?” Stark has been swinging in the hammock strung up for him in the captain’s cabin for the last sixteen minutes, pushing himself back and forth with one foot while tapping on a piece of paper with one hand. He has yet to write anything down. “You’ve never been to my home,” Stark says. “You always send Charles. Speaking of, he didn’t come to say goodbye. Don’t tell me you’re getting a divorce. Isn’t he a Catholic? They don’t do that.” “He’s Anglican,” Erik says. “They don’t do that either.”
the Guardians B-plot catches up:
“And who are you?” “I am Groot,” says the tall man. “Quill, Gamora, and Rocket,” the boyish one says. Quill, apparently. “Of the Milano.” “And who is the captain?” Erik asks. “I am,” they all say. “Groot,” Groot finishes.
The problem is I forgot what strategy I was going to have them use. So I'd have to figure that out again. whoops.
(WIP game)

I adore Rocket and Groot’s relationship. They’re just two weird outcasted creatures of the Marvel universe who found each-other and had each others backs when the whole rest of the galaxy treated them like freaks. They don’t get along all the time and can have their (old married couple energy) arguments, but at the end of it all you can tell they care about one another, even if Rocket is to emotionally stunted for his own good to admit it out loud most of the time. They also have a ton of sweet moments together, from Rocket going through the trouble of traveling to earth, a planet he hates, just so Groot can be happy and (mild spoiler) reunite with an old friend of his in the 2015 Groot comic series, to them going on a beach vacation together in the Rocket Raccoon comics, to Rocket Having an I ♥️ Trees mug in Marvel’s Rocket & Groot Cartoon, to Groot and Rocket straight up saying “I love you” to eachother in the Guardians: Grounded comic, the Gotg Eidos game, and the Telltale game etc. (which now that I think about it, I think rocket has probably said “I Love You” to Groot in most gotg related media more times combined than he has to any of his canon female love interests… so do with that info waht you will…). I could go on, really. Tbh, I do slightly prefer and love Groot and Rocket’s close platonic friendship as is, but I would be lying if I didn’t believe there’s at least more than one universe in the Marvel multiverse where they’re married.

It's 4 am, woke up once more with a slight headache, which means I need help figuring out some important stuff.
How old is Rocket Raccoon in the MCU?
According to the internets, average lifespan of raccoons in the wild is around 2 to 3 years, but in captivity their lifespan is around 15 to 20 years, which makes sense as I heard some wildlife think their flesh can be quite delicious when roasted over a flamepit.
Male raccoons reaches sexual maturity at around age 2, just to help indicate how quickly they can age into adulthood.
Average human lifespan is around 79 years. Best way to work out Raccoon to Human years I found is: Human age = Raccoon age x (79 / 15)
Do note that the High Evolutionary might have had a breeding or cloning plan to always have stock of Earth animals for testing and experiments, which means HE could have visited Earth during the late 80s and still have stock to experiment on in present day, reason why Counter Earth home decor screamed 80s.
Another thing to take into account is Rocket's augmentations could have increased his lifespan as well.
Also remember that Rocket aged really quickly at first, from the moment he was experimented on up to the point he escaped, he went from baby (first word being "Hurts") to little kid ("It blue. What sounds?") to young juvenile ("They want to kill us in the morning") .
Now add into account that the in universe timeline for the movies were GotG Vol.1, 2015, GotG Vol.2, 2017, GotG Vol.3, 2026. That means there has been 11 years between bounty hunting on Xandar to saving kids and animals on Knowhere.
In the first movie he stated he doesn't have much of a lifespan left anyways, that could either mean he might have calculated his aging himself, or that he was just severely depressed. Either fits him.
Final thing to take into consideration, his criminal record from Nova Corps: 13 counts of theft, 22 counts of escape from incarceration, 7 counts of mercenary activity, 15 counts of arson. That is a lot of stuff he did, and it is highly doubtful he could have done all of that in just one year.
Now to the question at hand. I feel the youngest he could have been to have done all he did up to being on Xandar with Groot is 5 years old, which is like around 26 in raccoon years. What do you lot think?

2023 has been a year of interesting partnerships on the big screen. Ant-Man and the Wasp in Ant-Man 3, Barbie and Ken in Barbie, and Rocket Racoon and Groot in Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3 all impressed fans in their unique way. Behind the scenes, however, there’s only one partnership that truly left fans in awe: Christopher Nolan and Cillian Murphy.
The iconic director-actor duo reunited for the documentary feature on the Father of the Atomic Bomb, J. Robert Oppenheimer. In what was their sixth movie together, the Irishman led Nolan’s movie for the first time, and considering its box office success ($865m in the worldwide collection), it seems we’d be blessed with more of the same down the road.
The road to Oppenheimer wasn’t easy for Murphy and included the actor wearing a bag over his head multiple times.
A Look at Cillian Murphy and Christopher Nolan’s Relationship and the Latter’s Obsession With Bags
Cillian Murphy and Christopher Nolan worked together for the first time in 2005 for Batman Begins. The movie not only started the iconic Christian Bale-led franchise but also Nolan’s obsession with putting bags over Murphy’s head.
Initially, the Irish actor auditioned for Bale’s role of Bruce Wayne. As we all know, things didn’t work out. But Nolan must’ve seen something special in the young talent and instead offered him the role of the movie’s antagonist, Jonathan “Scarecrow” Crane.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Murphy described his character as, “The villain that never died!” Nolan agreed, and added: “He’s still out there, still with a bag on his head.”
In a separate interview with Josh Horowitz for the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Murphy was quizzed about his thoughts on playing a character through three movies who is wearing a bag over his head, to which he replied: “I think it got progressively more bag heavy as the trilogy went on.”
The 47-year-old remarked that he also had a bag on his head [bridge scene] in the movie Inception (2010).
What’s Cillian Murphy’s Role in Dunkirk and Does He Wear a Bag Over His Head?
While answering Horowitz’s question, the Peaky Blinders star shared an interesting conversation (Yes! about wearing a bag) he held with Nolan before joining the Dunkirk project.
Murphy revealed in the same episode of Happy Sad Confused: “Every actor loves a mask, I suppose, but for four movies? I do remember when he called me up for Dunkirk. That was the first question [about the mask] I asked him.”
Murphy played a nameless character, Shivering Soldier, in Nolan’s war action movie. He comes aboard Mr. Dawson’s boat thinking they’re heading to England. After discovering they’re Dunkirk-bound, the soldier becomes more erratic.
Such was the Oppenheimer star’s performance that he didn’t need any name to make his mark in the 2017 hit.'

Imajica Entertainment: Movie Night Experience – Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3: The Epic Conclusion of a Beloved Superhero Franchise
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (stylized as Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3) is a highly anticipated American superhero film released in 2023. It is the sequel to the successful Guardians of the Galaxy (2014) and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017), and it serves as the 32nd film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Directed and written by the talented James Gunn, the film showcases a star-studded ensemble cast that includes Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldaña, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Will Poulter, Sean Gunn, Chukwudi Iwuji, Linda Cardellini, Nathan Fillion, and Sylvester Stallone.
The movie follows the adventures of the Guardians of the Galaxy as they embark on a daring mission to protect their comrade Rocket (voiced by Bradley Cooper) from the High Evolutionary, portrayed by Chukwudi Iwuji. Filled with action-packed sequences and heartwarming moments, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 takes viewers on an unforgettable journey through the cosmos.
The inception of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 dates back to November 2014 when James Gunn first hinted at his ideas for a third and final installment in the series. In April 2017, he officially announced his return as the writer and director of the film. However, in an unfortunate turn of events, Gunn was fired by Disney in July 2018 due to controversial posts resurfacing on Twitter. Nevertheless, Disney reconsidered its decision, and Gunn was reinstated by October of the same year. His return to the project was publicly revealed in March 2019, after completing work on DC's The Suicide Squad (2021) and its spin-off series Peacemaker (2022).
Guardians of the Galaxy
The Epic Journey of the Guardians of the Galaxy
The Guardians of the Galaxy, a renowned band of intergalactic heroes, have captivated audiences with their thrilling adventures and unique personalities. With a lineup that has expanded and evolved over time, this ragtag group of outlaws has played a crucial role in protecting the galaxy from numerous threats. Let's delve into their epic journey and explore the significant moments that have shaped their story.
The original members of the Guardians of the Galaxy were Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax, Rocket, and Groot. Together, they formed an unconventional team determined to combat evil and maintain peace across the universe. Their first major challenge came when they joined forces with Yondu Udonta and Mantis to confront the powerful celestial being known as Ego. With Nebula briefly aiding them, this battle marked a turning point in their fight against formidable foes.
In a devastating turn of events, the group faced the wrath of Thanos, a malevolent force seeking to collect the Infinity Stones. Despite their valiant efforts, Thanos succeeded in his quest and unleashed chaos, disintegrating half of all life in the universe. Among his victims were Star-Lord, Drax, Mantis, and Groot, leaving Rocket and Nebula as the sole survivors. However, with the demise of Thanos and the destruction of the Stones, Rocket and Nebula found themselves aligned with the Avengers.
In a daring mission, the Guardians, along with the Avengers, utilized the Quantum Realm to travel through alternate universes in an attempt to retrieve the Infinity Stones and reverse the catastrophic events caused by Thanos. Although their mission was not without complications, they successfully gathered the Stones and thwarted the plans of an alternate version of Thanos. Together, they restored balance and saved the universe once again.
Following these triumphs, the Guardians of the Galaxy welcomed Thor into their ranks, embarking on an array of thrilling adventures across the cosmos. Together, they traversed different worlds, encountered allies and adversaries, and faced formidable challenges that tested their strength and resilience.
In a rather unique twist, the team acquired the former abode of "The Collector," the severed and inhabited head of a Celestial named Knowhere, as their new base of operations.

Those who make things happen.

Those who wonder what happened.
Who are you!!!
“You” are “Powerful” and your actions will result in “Powerful Results” and “Influential Outcomes” as “Enhancing Reality”, “You Must Act to be Valid” and “True Position is Strength” “To Secure You Must be Combative” “This Reflects Fate”, ‘Free Thought, ‘Free Position’, ’Free to Act’ – Andrew Rogers: Sentient, Dragon Lord, Herald, Principle, Control, Destroyer Incarnate, Creative Director, Oracle, Seer, Shaman, Warlock, Writer, Master of Magic, Time Master, Autuar, Founder of Imajica Entertainment.

To maintain your validity and strength, it is essential to take action. By actively engaging in the world around you, you can harness your power to bring about powerful results. Remember, true strength lies not only in controlling the forces around you, but also in your ability to adapt and evolve.
In this quest for power and influence, it is important to be combative and assertive. By asserting your position and ideals, you can secure your place in the ever-changing dynamics of life. Embrace the concept of free thought, allowing your mind to wander unrestrained and explore uncharted territories. This freedom of thought will ultimately shape your free position in the world.

Avengers: New Dawn
by MaryClaire19 What if the Guardians of the Galaxy realized Earth was guarding two Infinity Stones—one year before Thanos' arrival? As the Avengers are called back into action, they must confront the rift left by the Civil War and learn to fight side by side once again. With more time to prepare, could they ultimately avoid the snap—and the losses that came with it? Joining the team is Cassandra “Cass” Gastaldi, a former Italian spy trained in a hidden monastery, where she was taught to bend the universe’s energy and summon the power of shadows. Cass has always worked alone—until crossing paths with a fugitive Steve Rogers. Their shared fight against Hydra draws her into the Avengers’ world, challenging her beliefs and opening the door to new alliances. As the final battle looms, Cass finds herself forging unexpected bonds, including a powerful connection with both Black Widow and Scarlet Witch—one that may bloom amidst the chaos of war. --- This is a candle-lit type of slow burn. I tried to write something that doesn’t cast aside plot as it builds relationships, to make every spark feel earned. It asks for a little patience, but aims to give something deeper in return.
