2, 4, 11, 12, and 13 for the RT asks!! <3
Thank you very much for the questions! Let's dive right in. For the Anon who also asked about 11 & 12, this one's also for you!
2. What is their Origin? Who were they before they became a Rogue Trader?
Iustitia Xanathaw von Valancius was a Commissar, raised in the Schola Progenium to be the perfect leader of her regiment. Harsh but just, she would punish any who showed cowardice, while fiercely guarding those who stood brave in the face of adversity.
4. What does their name mean? Is it significant?
Iustitia is latin for "Justice". A fitting name for one who would become the judge and executioner of the guard under her control. During her days in the Schola Progenium, she used it as a guiding light for who she was to become.
11. Who amongst their retinue are they closest to?
Okay so I can't decide who is closer, so top two! Also framing as, at this point in her story (which is chapter two, not long after Rykad Minoris.)
First up is Kibellah. Her, unusual practices, have actually been helping Iustitia grapple with her past torture, and given her a lense in which to reframe the pain she deals with daily into something positive. While Iustitia is not necessarily down with keeping the Bloodspun Web brand fresh, it is the one scar she bears that does not make a cold sweat break out on the back of her neck. There is some, small comfort in that. (Idk how to word this well I hope I got my point acroooooooss lol)
Secondly, Pasqal. Pasqal is a breath of fresh air from the rest of her emotion driven, and secretive, retinue. As a follow up point to question 23 asked and answered earlier, I think Pascal would be the first amongst companion characters to get to see the real her, as after learning he likes communal baths, she would have invited him to her sacred bath time.
12. Who amongst their retinue do they clash with the most?
Not sure if she counts, but Jacosta Sauerbeck. Iustitia can only see everything she hates about herself and her former fellow Commissars. She also sees the way the woman looks at her scars, and it instills utter dread in her.
Strictly companion characters, likely Marazhai, given The torture and all that. (Tho I have yet to play that faaaaaar teehee)
13. Are they romantically involved with anyone? Do they wish to be?
Not yet :3c
Talking completely as her creator for this question, I'm actually really struggling to pick a romance partner for her. I use toybox, so normally gender locked options are available to me.
So far top choices are Kibellah and Heinrix. (Though cassia is so CUTE Iustitia getting to be her perfect lil gentlewoman is so tempting,, I just don't think it fits Iustitia)
I think Heinrix would be a very interesting route to explore, due to his role as interrogator and her past trauma of torture. How is that divide overcome? It would a complex, and turbulent love story.
Kibellah I think could be a potentially really healing partner for Iustitia, without the complexity and turbulence a Heinrix romance would have.
Ultimately the answer is MAKE PASQAL ROMANCABLE OWLCAT, AND MY LIFE IS YOURS
#okay these questions had me thinking a lot!#i wonder how they'll change as i complete her story#rogue trader crpg#rogue trader ask game#warhammer 40k#wh40k oc#rogue trader#warhammer 40000#wh40k#von valancius#iustitia

18 and 25?
Thank you, Lordcaptains <3
18. How do they approach conflict? Do they tackle problems head-on, or is coercion favourable to them?
She is talking it through whether it is a political conflict or a conflict concerning her position as RT. But Isha isn't averse to employing all available means—diplomacy, bribery, coercion, or violence.
With Heinrix, it's a bit of a different matter. She often tries to avoid hot-button topics (like him leaving the Inquisition) instead of confronting them head-on. But once a topic is finally talked about, she can be quite the force to argue with, and she won't back down. But she's not above apologising when she has been in the wrong or hurt Heinrix.
25. Wildcard: Share a fun fact, random thought, or headcanon about them!
Fashion fun fact! Isha likes to change up court fashion once in a while. When most nobles have adopted a style she introduced to Dargonus, she will start wearing something completely different. Now that nobles are beginning to look for sleek and figure-hugging dresses, Isha will wear the most rococo court gown ever once she's back and holding court. The nobles are forbidden from wearing blue, green, and red. But not all at once. Whatever colour is taboo will only be announced on the day of court.

5, 8 and 11 for the blonde empress!
Oh thank you so much, you picked some interesting ones! :D Sorry if I get wordy, I like to ramble about my characters.
Under the cut because there's a lot of text (and a spoiler, FYI)
5. What was their relationship with Edelthrad? Would your RT have been happy with an advisory role, or had they always wanted something more?
Although she kept her feelings hidden behind a mask of politeness, Niobe was unnerved by Edelthrad to begin with. Like most Imperial citizens, she was raised to be wary of psykers, and even in her previous dealings with the Scarus sector nobility she had only ever met a handful of them (as part of various nobles' retinues). The idea of one becoming a Rogue Trader was...unsettling, and it made her question Theodora's judgement. (Later, she was forced to examine her prejudice as she grew close to Heinrix, also a psyker.) But in the end he proved himself in her eyes by showing himself to be a loyal servant of the Throne (although a foolhardy one.)
As for being in an advisory role - this was a familiar role and not unlike her previous ambassadorial position. She could have handled Edelthrad. That isn't to say she didn't wish for more - the Von Valancius blood is in her veins, along with their ambition. She never chose to become an ambassador for her house - it was a decision made for her in her early teens, when her family decreed that this would be the best use for her talents and trained her for it.
8. How much does your RT buy into the Imperium's dogma? What do they agree or disagree on?
Niobe is quite devout and a firm believer in the Imperial Creed. She genuinely believes the God-Emperor watches over humanity and that His light is the only thing keeping the darkness at bay...that said, she isn't so naïve as to believe that's all it takes. Humanity has to do its part, too.
Nor is she immune from the flaws of nobility - arrogance, classism, a belief in her divine-granted right to rule - but unlike many of her peers, she does care for the lives of her subjects. She doesn't needlessly exploit them and she is of the belief that a ruler who shows benevolence as well as ruthlessness does better than one who falls into either extreme. She is fair, even merciful, in her judgements if she can be convinced of someone's innocence - as long as the crime had nothing to do with the enemies of mankind. A Benevolent Dictator, to use a popular trope.
That said, she takes an extremely hard line with regards to Chaos and Xenos. No mercy is granted to anyone she finds collaborating with either.
11. Any non-companion NPC's that your RT has an interesting dynamic with?
Ahh this is a good one >:)
She enjoyed a close working relationship with Lord Inquisitor Xavier Calcazar until the latter's death, she was even on first name terms with him. He appreciated her willingness to aid his efforts and those of the Inquisition in general as well as her rather uncommon - for a Rogue Trader - adherence to the Lex Imperialis.
For her part, Niobe was uncomfortable with certain revelations of what Calcazar had been doing but - partly due to her instinctive respect for the authority he represented, party because so much had been sacrificed to get there - she decided to throw her lot in with him rather than let it all have been for nothing. After all, great deeds required great sacrifices, and if a powerful weapon could be secured for the Imperium...surely that was worth a few...moral compromises? (I never said she was above hypocrisy, lol)
The fact that I got this ending slide was the icing on the cake!

First time Heinrix sees Runa pet a fluffy creature. 😸
“Rogue Trader?”
The Interrogator’s imperious voice rang out across the bustling dock, his words loud enough to carve cleanly through the din of the rabble. Tall and broad, the man cut a strong, indomitable figure, the crimson mantle at his back bearing a not-so-subtle reminder of the Inquisition’s ever-watchful presence.
The authority of that Inquisitorial presence accompanied the heavy tread of the Interrogator’s boots against plasteel grating. Catching the attention of many a wary port guard, he inadvertently drew glances of both fear and resentment, his appearance alone attracting more than just a few curious pairs of eyes.
But Heinrix was unconcerned with the whispers of locals. His focus never deviated from the back of the Lord Captain’s head, eyes locked onto the mane of ivory hair that she had bundled into a substantial yet untidy chignon at the nape of her neck. Not once did she turn around, instead stepping into a hurried, purposeful stride as she left her retinue behind, in pursuit of a goal yet unknown.
Heinrix’s frown deepened, and his pace increased in order to catch up with her, ignoring the pointed stares from the other members of her retinue. Footfall’s reputation preceded it – the dock was a lawless place at the best of times. Losing sight of the Rogue Trader in a place as busy and unpredictable as this one could only spell disaster.
Ultimately, the Lord Captain was unaware of his concerns for her safety, and thus, she continued unabatedly. But even then, her pace gradually began to slow, and she came to a halt directly before the door of a rusted container; where she dropped to her knees, crouching low against the plasteel walkway.
“Rogue Trader!”
Still, she did not turn around, and the poorly concealed impatience was evident in his exasperation. He blew out a huff of irritation as he closed in on where she was kneeling, coming to a stop behind her.
“Runa.”
Folding his arms across his chest, Heinrix stared down his long nose at where the woman remained crouched, tending to something as yet unseen. His curiosity was masked by an increasingly irritated glare – she either did not understand the dangers surrounding her, or she did, but simply did not care. Recalling her background, he assumed it was the latter – but those days were well and truly over. A considerable responsibility now rested upon her shoulders, and hers alone. And what use would it be to the ancient and esteemed House von Valancius for its last remaining heir to be stabbed by a cultist in a Footfall alleyway? She needed to reevaluate her position – and remain focused in the meantime.
Runa stood carefully, clutching something small within both hands, and the Interrogator was pulled out of his thoughts and back into the present. Frowning impatiently into the back of her head, he considered what it was that she had been so eager to retrieve. Like any smuggler worth their weight, she had developed an additional sense for discarded archeotech – something that may fetch a high price on the black market. Perhaps she had located a cache of some description.
But after a few moments, Runa turned around to face him – and nothing could have prepared Heinrix for what she was carrying.
Supported by one gloved hand and nestled against the swell of her chest was a tiny lump of black fur; an object that he recognised instantly as a trembling kitten.
The Rogue Trader did not acknowledge him, but the soft wonder in her eyes as she gazed down at the juvenile cat almost immediately threatened the integrity of Heinrix’s stoic foundation. He remained utterly frozen in place, watching as the fragile creature nestled comfortably against her, trusting the Rogue Trader implicitly – just like any other of her devoted subjects.
He didn’t have to wait long before Runa glanced up at him, her face split by a radiant smile. The index finger of her free hand tickled the kitten’s tiny chin.
Oh– well, this was not at all what he had been expecting.
Speechless and utterly blindsided by her smile, of all things, Heinrix found himself unconsciously gravitating a step closer, his arms dropping to rest loosely at his sides. The happiness on her face was unlike anything he’d ever seen, the joyous smile dimpling her cheeks and drawing his attention to her golden canine. He found himself suddenly transfixed. Far more familiar with being on the receiving end of her sardonic sneers and unkind smirks, he found his irritation at her sudden abscondment had been entirely forgotten.
“A kitten–?” he began, hesitant voice soft as he glanced down at the animal she clutched so possessively. It stared back up at him with round, curious blue eyes; the innocence of a tiny creature destined for a short, miserable existence, hand-plucked from the gutter by one of the most powerful women in the Expanse. Heinrix exhaled through his nose. It was so small – so unbelievably feeble.
The kitten would never know how lucky it was.
“I saw it.” Runa looked down at the fluffy animal fondly. “From all the way across the dock. The eyes, they’re reflective – I think they must’ve caught the light at the exact right time.”
“I see.”
Heinrix couldn’t even find it within himself to admonish her for her carelessness, and so, he simply stared; observing how the kitten twisted to get comfortable in Runa’s hand, settling its chin against the reassuring warmth of her bare skin, directly above where her heart was beating. Its tired eyes began to close as the Rogue Trader continued to soothe it, rubbing tiny circles into the dusty fur.
He had never considered the potential that the voidborn was even remotely capable of such warmth, such tenderness – partly because every conversation he’d ever had with her had been conducted under duress. She ignored him frequently, refusing to cooperate with many of his sanctioned requests, even despite the friendliness and kindness she displayed to the rest of her retinue and her crew. She maintained a cold, terse distance between herself and the Interrogator, making it clear to him – and everyone around them – that she deeply resented his presence on board her ship.
Normally, she would be observing him coldly, with her nostrils flared in not-so-subtle disgust; a biting comment clenched waiting between her teeth. But this time, something was different – her smile never wavered, even as she glanced up once more from where the kitten was pawing at her. There was no maliciousness in the way she considered him – and for the first time since joining her retinue, he recognised a steadily growing sense of alarm that had begun to build within the pit of his stomach.
“What are you going to do with it?” he forced out, an unfamiliar heat prickling beneath the collar of his shirt.
“It’s one of my subjects.” The Lord Captain’s smile faltered, morphing instead into a lopsided grin. “I’m bringing it back with us.”
The kitten stretched out its paws, almost as if it had understood her, shifting to nestle more closely against the comforting swell of her cleavage. He watched as it pawed fruitlessly at her golden necklace, attempting to catch the opal stone pendant within its tiny claws.
Never had he ever expected to find himself envious of a stray kitten.
As Runa allowed the kitten to burrow closer, she laughed; a light, joyous sound; and Heinrix felt something deep within him clench uncomfortably tight. He stared at the creature, which gazed back at him in turn with inquisitive eyes.
The kitten knew exactly what it was doing.

First Time Prompt:
From @icasticonoclast: First time Aurelia wanted to kiss Heinrix.
Author's note... it hasn't happened yet. And this scene may yet change.
Peering from the hole in the pile of rubble that had become her temporary prison, Aurelia had never been so happy to hear the whining of the Knight's engines, nor the sound of Heinrix's voice.
"Aurelia? Aurelia!"
Her heart thundered in her chest. He had heard! He had come! She could kiss him for his haste.
There was a small enough gap that she could muscle her arm through. Her fingers felt the hot, stinging air from the premature burst, and then the touch of cool metal as a gauntlet met hers. Perhaps the puff of air against her knuckles and the brush of something rough on her skin was nothing more than the exhaust from the explosion, dirty fumes meant to kill them all. Surely, her husband would not take this moment to levy a lord's kiss from the back of her hand.
She must have inhaled the vapors from the explosive gasses; surely she did not feel giddy - happy - in this moment. No, no it was just relief. She would not die today in this tomb amongst the stink and smoke!

morrowind 40k for the WIP game?
@aviarykeeper [throws herself at the ground] I am so so sorry that I have missed this ask! [cuts off her hair and wails: plz come back and talk to me about it 🥲🥹😭]

Anyway, I've been star-cursed by Morrowind since I laid my eyes on that ashen poison some decade ago and I insert new blorbos in there all the time. And now it is Idira's turn to cure the uncurable disease, steal local mafia's pants and do some other shenanigans.
[working on the artwork of her, needs cool mushroomy background]
Groundwork so far:
Idira causes a warp-breach after a not-so-nice chat with a theodoresque demon // OR // a certain scary-looking arbites with a dog shows up and wants to collect her.
A certain angry // sad // tithe-evasive lord captain decides to execute // exile // hide her. A certain devious member of the Inquisition sees an opportunity here [the way he constantly tries to recruit my people right in front of me... hello, I am standing right here and I can hear the bullshit about paperwork and higher calling just fine!].
Idira ends up on an interesting ashy planet with some remnant memory loss, stack of weird psychic vox messages and a strange mechanical bird for company.
You want a mushroom tower? You got to work for it, witch!
************************************************************************
OK, I suppose this counts as a sunday WIP, so tagging some unsuspecting victims here (no pressure, come for a dream session to our ash mountain spa): @orphic-eluvian @infernaldaydreams @pycnolite @fourraccoonsinacoat @avas-poltergeist @cakeinke @plethomacademia @galahadiant @calcazars @avalost

Hmmm 1 and 16 for the ask game thing!
Thank u very much for the questions!!
1. Where are they from? What is their homeworld like? Do they miss it?
The Great Fortress world Boros Prime. Whatever the landscape used to be has been long destroyed by countless assaults, from both Chaos itself and the artillery of the Imperium. If you looks closely, you might see Astartes landing pod craters dotting the landscape. A world of war, a bastion against the forces of Chaos and humanity's foothold in the system. A part of Iustitia does miss her homeworld. It was more simple when all you had to command was a regiment, and you need not think of profiting and politicking. On the other hand, she always felt the crushing weight of the fate of the imperium on her neck. Every time she saw an Astartes was a grim reminder of what was at stake on this world.
So I think ultimately, no. She does not miss her homeworld, but she does miss the simplicity of her former role.
16. What is their Archetype?
Iustitia is a Soldier Arch-Militant! Guns are her name, shootings her game. Of course she has the Classic revolver for a Commissar, but when push comes to shove she does use the sword given to her by Kibellah.
This is the part where I reveal I don't really understand the leveling all that well and I just select whatever option has a thumbs up next to it when leveling up xD

8 & 25 for the lovely Isha? <3
Thank you, Phee <3
8. What was their Triumph? Do they take pride in it?
They managed to negotiate a peace treaty between neighbouring star systems, thus avoiding full-blown war. Isha's still very proud of this accomplishment. However, it also led to her abduction and torture and the reason she ended up in the Koronus Expanse about a decade before Theodora came calling. It wasn't her first successful negotiation for peace; as an accomplished diplomat, she was used to tricky talks and solving them with charm and cunning.
25. Wildcard: Share a fun fact, random thought, or headcanon about them!
Fun fact about Fydea: Hot springs! Because of the volcanic activity under the water's surface, there are many hot springs on Fydea (think Iceland). Thus, Fydea has an elaborate bathing culture. Isha has missed soaking in scorching hot water the most in the last ten years (and Sashimi), so the RTs bath and the newly built bath in the palace are often in use. Isha's fair skin is also a product of soaking in mineral-rich water—talk about thalassic therapy.

For the first time ask! First time Runa realized she had feelings for Heinrix?
She was out of her depth.
The Lord Captain was not ignorant to the fact that the confirmation of her ascension to the position of Rogue Trader required a degree of formality; but she had enormously underestimated just how much formality that would include.
Runa had almost resorted to pleading with the Dargonus palace tailors to allow her to attend her coronation wearing her usual leather breeches and synskin, but the talented couturiers had shut down her suggestions immediately.
How funny – that she had once detested noble-borns and all that they stood for. There was no shortage of rich and wealthy elites, lords and ladies who sought endless power and wealth beyond their means, building their endless palaces of marble atop the shattered bones of the underhive. She had thought herself honourable as she assumed the mantle of responsibility, striking terror into the hearts of those that considered themselves above even the God-Emperor himself.
But as she had learned rather quickly, it had all been for naught. Endless cycles of nobles would rise and thrive, and peasants born into slums would be destined to toil and die, all under the God-Emperor’s watchful gaze.
Now, as the ex-pirate leaned against the balcony wall of the palace she would learn to call her own, she acknowledged how entirely out of place she felt; clad in a beautiful gown of burgundy silk, standing in pearl-trimmed stilettos. She was a rotten hypocrite. Women like her were not deserving of such elegant luxury; especially not at the expense of another poor woman’s calloused fingers.
As the God-Emperor had intended.
The ceremony itself had been conducted without incident. Runa’s ascension to Rogue Trader had been confirmed before millions of her subjects, her trustworthy seneschal remaining by her side at all times, guiding her, silently pointing her in the right direction. For his guidance, she was endlessly grateful. For a woman so headstrong and confident in her control of the situation, Runa was enormously out of her depth here; lost and floundering in an endless ocean with no land in sight.
The hills and mountains of Dargonus were beautiful from the palace balcony, if not a little overwhelming; especially for a woman who had lived the majority of her life within the reassuring darkness of voidships. But the dusky expanse high above her was peppered with the light of billions of glittering stars, and that would be enough for Runa. Despite everything, the stars had remained a forever-comforting constant.
The new Rogue Trader had silently hoped that she would have been able to witness the sunset, although she had broken away from the crowds too late to catch it.
Now, for the first time in what seemed like days, she found herself alone. The balmy warmth of the summer afternoon had dissipated as soon as the sun sank below the horizon, and the slight chill that accompanied the evening had not been entirely unwelcome.
A quiet yet deliberate throat-clearing behind her brought her back abruptly into the present, and Runa turned to greet her visitor.
She was surprised to see Heinrix standing by the balcony door, unwilling to venture closer without her acknowledgement. His dress uniform wasn’t too dissimilar to his usual attire, although his boots had been shined, and his gloves were trimmed with gold.
“Lord Captain,” he greeted solemnly, bowing his head in deference.
The more she studied him, the more Runa recognised the gradual irritation beginning to build within her gut. Despite how much work they had put in to be more civil to each other, the appearance of the Interrogator out of the blue often meant a disagreement was on the horizon.
“Let me guess – is my presence required?”
“No.” He stepped over the balcony threshold carefully, averting his eyes and glancing out across Dargonus as he approached. “The buffet is progressing as well as could be expected, and the guests are enjoying the Rogue Trader’s hospitality.”
“Then why are you here?”
Her words sounded harsher than she had intended, but Heinrix did not seem to mind.
“You were missing from the festivities,” he spoke simply, joining her at the balcony wall and resting his elbows against the stone. “I wanted– I needed to ensure your wellbeing.”
Gloved hands clasped together loosely, the Interrogator gazed out across Dargonus, the gentle breeze catching the fabric of his mantle. The weight of the day rested heavily upon his shoulders and his drawn brow.
“Did Abelard put you up to this?” she pressed, and the Interrogator exhaled loudly, snapping his head to look at her.
“By the Throne, woman – I am simply making sure that you are well.”
Runa froze outright at his frustrated outburst, her eyes wide, her irritation suddenly all but forgotten. Their interactions may have still been fraught with distrust, but the Lord Captain had not been expecting to be on the receiving end of his concern.
“Oh.” She glanced away from him, feeling the unchecked heat begin rising to her cheeks. “Right. Of course.”
There was a moment of awkward silence that lingered between them before Heinrix seemingly mustered the courage to step closer, reaching into his inside pocket.
“Here.”
From his pocket, he produced a small, white box with golden detailing, immediately sparking Runa’s curiosity. She took it gently from him, sliding it open to reveal ten perfect cylindrical lho sticks.
She glanced up at him in mild surprise. “I didn’t realise you smoked.”
“I don’t.” A satisfied smirk threatened the corner of his mouth. “I confiscated these from an acolyte.”
Runa couldn’t help the grin that had begun to spread across her face as she used a long fingernail and thumb to pluck a lho stick from the box. A smoke would do her the world of good. Sliding the box closed, she noticed Heinrix reach into his inside pocket once more, producing a gold-capped lighter.
“I always carry one,” he offered, and Runa smiled genuinely at his words, balancing the lho stick between her lips and allowing the Interrogator to provide the flame. She leaned into his shadow, shielding the flame from the breeze with a hand as his mantle whipped about her silk-clad shins. Close enough now to smell the musk of his cologne, she felt an unnatural chill descend upon her shoulders, shivering against the barrier of thin silk that adorned her skin. After what seemed like far too long standing against the warmth of him, the rolled paper caught the flame, and Heinrix carefully stepped back as she pulled the first draw into her lungs.
Her face suddenly aflame with the heat, she turned to lean forward against the balcony wall, focusing on the smoky brume of the lho and trying not to think about just how fervently her heart had stuttered at the Interrogator’s proximity. It was if he knew that she would feel out of her depth here, and the entire purpose of him seeking her out was to help her feel more at ease.
She stole another glance towards him, watching as his dark hair was mussed by the unforgiving breeze, a darkness lingering within the hollows of his cheeks as he gazed out upon her protectorate.
Oh, shit.

@raeb33s and @mayoonrices are my next chosen ones ✨️
How often do they sleep together?
50/50, depends on business days. When busy Bor can leave to Jae the whole bedroom, hoping she'd still find her there when Bor's done.
Where do they sleep?
Rogue Trader's chambers of course. Not much room anywhere else.
How do they prepare to sleep?
Jae yapps - Bor listens. Bor doesn't know how exactly Jae puts herself to sleep, cuz Bor falls asleep to Jae's yapping first.
What do they wear to sleep?
Bor is old-fashioned so undies it is. Bor's only request is that Jae switches her outdoors clothes before jumping the bed. Bor promised to order enough personalized lingerie for Jae if it means , she'll change before bed. (Jae uses this promise as much, as she brakes her's)
Do they cuddle?
Bor is cuddly whenever Jae in the mood for "cuddly".
Preffered sleep positions ?
Bor - flat on her back. She is actually serves like a convenient obstacle to Jae , since she just doesn't flinch , and Jae can place herself however she pleases.
How easily do they fall asleep?
Bor just drops dead in minutes. Jae - whenever stars decide.
Do they toss and turn a lot?
Jae does most of tossing.
Do they snore?
God Emperor blessed this pairing snoreless.
Who hogs the blanket?
Bor. She has a stern grip ,but Jae's mechanical arm is stronger of course.
What do they dream about ?
Bor is the happiest when she dreams of beating people. Or when there is Jae in a dream. Rarely - there is a Jae and they beat some ashmags together.
How easily do they wake up?
Bor hates waking up. Jae is quicker to get up.
How awake they are afterwards?
As much as The Emperor will provide that day
