Cookies & Dream bakery

A nice bakery located close to the town square. Large windows at the front give you the view of the bright and colorful interior as soon as you enter the town square. A large sign placed by the door proudly displays the name of the bakery “Cookies & Dream” in a wavy font and bright blue letters. Underneath you see the opening hours printed neatly.

The interior of the shop is bright and bubbly with every colour of the rainbow making an appearance somewhere. There’s tables and booths neatly placed within the space where you see customers enjoying their baked goods.

Within the glass counters at the back of the shop you see a variety of baked goods, cupcakes and cakes with colorful frosting, delicious looking pastries and freshly baked bread. Chalk boards on the wall behind the counters display the drink menu and prices. Everything about this bakery screams happy and bubbly, which is why the proprietor behind the counter comes as a shock to your system as you step up to order. The sullen, grumpy dwarf behind the counter is the polar opposite of the shop’s theme and aesthetic.

Customers who pry will find out that Valdemar is not the original owner and proprietor of this shop. The bakery was started by Valdemar’s younger brother, Torri and Valdemar reluctantly promised to keep it running while Torri is away. Potential quest hooks: - Torri has been gone longer than expected and Valdemar has not heard from him. - Someone has started a rumor that Valdemar is sabotaging the bakery and business has slowed down. Valdemar is devastated and desperate to continue his brother’s legacy.

(Hi, I'm Filip. If you like it, use it! Just drop it in any game. I tend to go for narrative-first stuff, but I'll drop a few lines at the end as to how this location might play out in mechanical terms.)

The Lucky Well

Aspects:

An old man, Life-Drawer Karrugin, tends to a ring of willow trees overlooking an ancient well, its stonework covered with soft moss. He spends long hours drawing water for anyone who asks.

Rumour is, visitors to Maldara who offer a tribute of coin to the old man see their luck change for the better.

The well's water is the most delicious, coolest, freshest water you've ever recalled tasting.

Secret: Karrugin's home, just next to the Lucky Well, has a secret passage leading deep within the earth. Below it, Karrugin brings the gold to the water sprite that makes the cavernous space beneath the well its home.

NPCs: Life-Drawer Karrugin, human sage.

Motivation: To care for the community and shield the well.

Appearance: A wizened man, short of stature, with a bushy beard, his eyes forever weighed by weariness.

Personality: Gruff, but not unkind. Humble about his place in life, disdainful of those who do not possess humility.

Rumour: No one knows quite how old Karrugin is, not even the oldest visitors of town.

Secret: Life-Drawer Karrugin is a member of the local society of hedge witches, wizards, and various other wisefolk*.

Sprinkle, water-spirit.

Appearance: A teal drop, its form rippling from one outline to another. It often recall

Personality: Playful, forgetful, distracted.

Motivation: Sprinkle likes to help. It cares for people. Wants to make people happy. In fact, the sprite likes helping almost as much as it likes shiny things...and it likes Karrugin most of all because he helps it help people without frightening anyone and he brings it shiny things.

Secret: The existence of the sprite is the big one! No one knows about Sprinkle, and that's how Karrugin and the water-spirit like it, due to some wretched experiences from long ago.

The simplest way to go about a place like this is, you can give your players a Heroic Inspiration. Everyone loves an advantage, right?

If you'd like to underline the "good luck" nature of drinking from the well, you might instead choose to riff on the Portent roll, and decide to give your players a high dice roll to use in lieu of a bad dice roll later in the session. How about a 15?

Resistance games (Heart, Spire) or Powered by the Apocalypse:

After you invite your players to give you a roll, let them choose to instead take a mixed success one time after having sampled the Lucky Well.

The One Ring (though you'd need to tweak the lore a bit, perhaps):

The next time the characters roll on the Journey tables, let each of them roll with advantage.

I'm at the start of the third zone and tbh my biggest criticisms about avowed are 1. that there aren't enough npcs with side quests in the world and 2. that some dialogue options that change the outcome of quests and which in pillars would have a skill/background requirement are just handed to me for free

While looking through some stuff, I found a Homebrew location I came up while bored at work with with a boss battle that has a fun (and by fun I mean EVIL) mechanic you can trick players into triggering.

Since I'm not a DM, I'm going to leave this here for anyone to use if they so wish.

Searchers of red purple sunset

Three dimensional scene for today based on role playing games about a fantasy. Such games are looks like most interesting. Interesting world, something secrets of this world. Connected with magic. And most unbelievable places you can to see. After you have cleaned this location.  What a good point of view – to watch the sunset.

Especially, if game is three dimensional. Few hours you make a clear of location from the monsters. And, at last, - everything is done! New level. Completed quest and beautiful sunset as a prize. What can be better for an excellent day. For a fantasy fan it cannot be better. Main thing here, it is to be the story interesting! And main question – and what is next? But, it will be later. Right now, it is good to make a save game.

And this is my scene with spirit of fantasy and role playing games. Searchers for the adventurers, already, reach place of the curse. To place, where magic amulet was with strong vibrations. And, it is getting glowing. Red purple sunset, already, paints a sky. And, all around, – there were standing an obelisks, which makes a magic field even more stronger. And it is, already, dangerous.

In every of a long sword it was inserted amulet, making more stronger a magic properties. Armor was a setup with a magic amulets. Without these things, they will never reach this place. It was, already, a sunset. And day is going to the end. All day long, they go through this wasteland. Wild magic makes this place abandoned. And legions of the night were here, already. Skeletons, werewolfs, fire birds, ice giants. Necromants of circle makes a stronghold here. Cult of living fire, also, has a settle in this place. And some speaks, that they, even, connect their efforts to find this place.

And searchers for adventures plan to find this place during the day.  And not in the sunset, when magic powers have their most peak. But, they were lingered in the way. They need to clash with necromants and the cult. And legions of the darkness and the wild magic. It takes all day long. And their campaign become hard. Stamina level is going to zero. And, looks like, it is a trap. Now, wild magic knows about this place. And searchers, make them a way to this place. Right after themselves.

So, it is, already, a ground shaking. And it is starting a read of a spell of eyes of dimensions. This way wild magic can to see you. And skeletons, again, are rising from the ground. And portal soon will be opened. Ahead, it is lots of hours of battles. It is good to find something, that can help to deal with these. And find healing. And restore of stamina. A lots of things it is good to find, too much things. And there is no time. Your party member speaks to you, that he has one spell to make illusions.

It will turn the eyes of wild magic into illusions. For some time. And during this time, you can to look at this place better. If to get from another side, above this fence, made from onyx. From another corner of location, then you can go first to this magic power. And this gives an advantage. It is just need to be quick! If to walk all this place and find entrance to the other side. There are magic things, which are more powerful, than a wild magic.  Most of ideas, it should be some amulet. You can hide near obelisks. They defends, those who stands near them.

Now it is a race with time. It is good to walk this place around!
