Open Road by James Marvin Phelps Via Flickr: Open Road Highway 93 Ruby Mountains Elko County Nevada The Ruby Mountains, often called the "Swiss Alps of Nevada," are a breathtaking mountain range in northeastern Nevada, known for their rugged peaks, alpine lakes, and diverse wildlife. Stretching for about 90 miles, these mountains are home to Lamoille Canyon, a glacier-carved valley with dramatic cliffs, cascading waterfalls, and vibrant wildflowers in the summer. Rich in history and natural beauty, the Ruby Mountains are also a critical habitat for bighorn sheep, mule deer, and the elusive Himalayan snowcock, a bird found in few other places in North America. The Ruby Mountains are one of Nevada’s most spectacular landscapes.

Elko County, NV (No. 2)
This area was long inhabited by Native American tribes of the Plateau, particularly the Western Shoshone, Northern Paiute, and Bannock peoples. Their traditional ways were disrupted after European-American settlement, as the two cultures competed for resources and had differing conceptions of land use and property.
Elko County was established in 1869 from Lander County; the name was taken from the name of the county seat, Elko.
In 1877 what became known as the Duck Valley Indian Reservation was established by presidential executive order for the Western Shoshone in this area, after they signed treaties with the United States. Later the Paiute became involved in the Bannock War, but after they were allowed to return from exile in Washington State, in 1886 another executive order was used to expand the reservation to accommodate them. The federally recognized tribe of the two peoples together conducts farming and ranching in this high desert territory.
The population of the county increased markedly in the late 20th century as the economy improved.
On March 14, 2014, the Bureau of Land Management of the United States Department of the Interior sold 29 oil and gas leases for $1.27 million to a collection of six companies that included Noble Energy. The transaction was the first such in Nevada.

Do you ever think about how Team RWBY saved Vale by accident.
That the dust train that unleashed grimm into Downtown Vale wasnt supposed to be used until the attack on Beacon. It’s early. All those Grimm are supposed to be released into the city combined with all the grimm at the school and the arena. The aim is to overwhelm the Huntsmen and force them out of the City not just the school. The aim is to destroy the kingdom. But it fails.
Because out heroes may lose Beacon Academy, but they more or less manage to secure Vale. The city survives, its people survive, the Huntsman and security forces manage to hold the city, but only because Team RWBY found that base early and triggered the train early.
Only because of Team RWBY’s ‘mistake’.

Wow, Brennan's nailing a very specific, very accurate picture of womanhood with Caramelinda. That's talent right there. Talent and empathy. It's very impressive watching a man be this empathetic and knowledgeable of something so specific to women and girls. (I'm not saying no men have EVER been in Caramelinda's position before, but for women it's pretty fucking common). I picked up on exactly who she was from episode one before she even showed up onscreen and now I'm in "At the Mountain of Sweetness" and this poor woman just had a funeral for her daughter and met her husband's child from a previous secret marriage and now she's in a room talking to her remaining child and my heart is breaking.
Ruby: "Are we letting this happen, are YOU letting this happen?"
Caramelinda: "I can't remember the last time when it felt like I had a handle on my own life."
Ruby: "But...You are the handle."
Caramelinda: "Am I? Did I ever stop you or your father or anyone else from doing what they were going to do? Or have I just spent my whole life crowing for nothing?"
"You're a woman grown, and now the secret is revealed. All the crowns on all the heads on all the kingdoms of the world don't know. Don't know what they're doing and don't know what's going to happen next and don't know how to stop it. Here's what I have control over; I'm gonna take a bath and I'm gonna eat something.
Ruby: "Well I'm not"
And then she proceeds to avoid processing any of that conversation or any emotions and goes invisible and sneaks around investigating instead. Poor Caramelinda.

Elko County, NV (No. 1)
Elko County is a county in the northeastern corner of Nevada, United States. As of the 2020 census, the population was 53,702. Its county seat is Elko. The county was established on March 5, 1869, from Lander County. Elko County is the fourth-largest county by area in the contiguous United States, ranking lower when the boroughs of Alaska are included. It is one of only 10 counties in the U.S. with more than 10,000 square miles (25,900 km2) of area. Elko County is the second-largest county by area in Nevada, with only Nye County being larger. Elko County is part of the Elko micropolitan statistical area. It contains 49.8 percent of the Duck Valley Indian Reservation, set up in the late 19th century for the Shoshone-Paiute peoples; they are a federally recognized tribe. Although slightly more than 50% of the reservation is across the border in Owyhee County, Idaho, the majority of tribal members live on the Nevada side. The reservation's land area is 450.391 square miles (1,166.5 km2).

Barb and I are on a weeklong Sierra Club camping trip in Nevada’s Ruby Mountains at 8500 ft. We’re hiking during the day and glamping at night with a big tent, comfy cots and gourmet meals.

I dont know how to leave comments so Im just going to quote the section from chp13 that I legit started crying at >> “It bough her time,” Ruby said—scar tissue—barely healed—off tempo beat of a broken heart—and had to shut her mouth when her voice cracked at the tail end of time.<<

I for real will never get over Penny Polendina. She’s haunting ME so she’s haunting In the Hall of the Mountain King too.
This is a perfectly valid way to leave comments you’re good. You may continue to point 👉👉
