Ten Thousand Stars

Hey plurk, I've started a creative writing project! Don't know how far I'm going to get into it, but it's better to start a project and not finish it than to just never start it BECAUSE you don't think you'd finish it, right?

Anyway Ten Thousand Stars is Progression Fantasy about a washed up Weaver, a person who started sewing magic thread into their body to gain power. She gave up on advancing after a personal tragedy and has been living a quiet life that she was quite comfortable with right up until a mysterious boy basically falls into her lap.

You can read the rough draft of the first 3 chapters here. I have more, but I'm releasing it in chunks and the next chunk isn't ready yet.

The perpetually talented @rukafais drew Irie, the main character and hero of the story

She's 42 and tired and just wants to stop a very angry teenager from getting himself killed.

I like making Mumbo a dapper beanpole whenever I draw him, but I also enjoy the JumboMumbo, like the way the animator Rukart Bert draws him.

4. what defines your artistic style? my style changes all the time and very suddenly. right now, my biggest style characteristics are angular lines, outlined noses, prominent eyebrows, visible blush matching the skintone, and those little - what are those called? ahoge. the little floating strands of hair at the part. i really like drawing hands so often i'll highlight/focus on them!

22. list one of your "artspirations". i'm gonna list a ton: j.c. leyendecker is a big one. my favorite illustrator (who isn't, like, currently active)!! his brushtroke backgrounds and shading/color styles are so cool and so inspiring. i've done a number of studies of his work in neon colors so i can focus on the shading, brushstrokes, and composition!! in terms of currently active artists, i really love animation tho i don't have the patience to do it myself. lewvk and vewn's colorful and angular style plus use of visual storytelling were a big influence on my art, specter's designs and style are so neat, rukart bert has such a unique way of doing lineart and the colors are delicious, i'm a huge fan of bunnycat's smooth animation and cute designs, and clmr1 is so good at drawing out an emotional reaction. my favorite webcomic artists are @ggdgart and @gastrophobia, whose comics significantly influenced the way i tell stories. i could list so many more works and artists but this is getting long.
