Thirsty Aziraphale is such a treat

Imagine, Crowley and Aziraphale in the backroom of the bookshop. Not quite drunk, but surely tipsy

"That makes no sense whatsoever, Crowley"

"Yes, it does!" Crowley swings his hand, and the wine sloshes inside the glass. "Think about it: have you ever seen two ducks fucking?"

"Well, no. But I've seen ducklings."

Crowley rolls his eyes, sunglasses forgotten somewhere at some point.

"Have you ever-" The demon gets up to take off his jacket and Aziraphale stops listening, only staring at him, hidding his face behind the wine glass, unconsciously licking his lips. He quickly runs his eyes down Crowleys torso under his black tight shirt while the demon throws the jacket on the sofa beside himself. "Right?"

Aziraphale shakes his head, snapping out of it, but licking his lips again, leaning against the back of the armchairs and crossing his legs.

"Sorry, dear. What did you say?"

Crowley sits down again.

"I said, have you considered the fact that you never-" He rolls his sleeves up his forearms. Once again, Aziraphale stops listening, holding the wine glass more strongly between his fingers. His breath held for a moment, his legs involuntary closing tightly. "Angel?"

"Hmm?"

"You alright?" Crowley leans both his arms on the back of the sofa, holding the wine glass in his right hand and sloshing a bit, opening his legs.

"Hm." Aziraphale blinks and clears his throat. "Quite." He takes a long swallow of the wine. "Can you repeat yourself? I'm afraid I didn't get it."

Crowley takes a deep breath, but repeats himself:

"Have you ever seen one of the ducks dying or dead?"

"I suppose not, no."

The demon claps, leaning in, his elbows on his knees.

"That's my point! They are immortal! We've been feeding the same ducks for centuries!"

Aziraphale lifts an eyebrow over his wine glass.

"That's ridiculous. What about the ducklings?"

"Clones. They make clones of themselves when they want to migrate to somewhere else"

Aziraphale sighs and finishes his glass. There is no need to try to argue with him about ducks. On the other hand, maybe he should make the bookshop warmer. Maybe Crowley would keep stripping

A very hot take: there is absolutely no reason to complain about adaptations of Tolkien works adding more women and people of color in prominent roles.

"BuT iT's NoT cAnOn" do you have any idea how many things were changed in the LOTR Trilogy? A lot. And you won't let that damage your love for it. You're so obviously biased that it's not even funny anymore.

Hey, guess what? Legolas is supposed to have dark hair, not blonde. But you'd have a difficult time making that into reasonable critique.

Tolkien isn't perfect. He made very good but flawed books. His female characters aren't the greatest. People who adapt his works can fix that. Acknowledging that isn't going to open a rift that destroys time and space.

Dick. For the canon isn't real square I am Specifically talking about the Tom Taylor Nightwing run. Usually I ignore bad runs but given this one is ongoing (though about to end THANK GOD and get replaced by Dan Watters who i have high hopes for since i adored his Sword of Azrael (2022) run but i digress) so I counted it. Especially since it's so debated if that run is bad or not, for some reason. I'm a 90s Nightwing truther. I love Dick so dearly and tbh recently I've been more enamored with him the more I read his Discowing era, I didn't used to be as big of a Dick stan as I am these days.

Bruce. Honestly where do you even start with Bruce. I want to fist fight him and also patch him up. He got me into comics and superheroes as a whole but I roll my eyes whenever he shows up in a story. He's a bastard and usually not a good father but also complex and should be dissected under a magnifying glass. I love him dearly. He's also just the worst. I think that's why I love him. I'm always a fan of unabashedly Complicated Asshole Bruce who's generally not always the best person, particularly not to the Batfamily and that being the driving force of his relationships with them, especially in shipping.

And for bonus points, Tim. Because know above all else, I'm a Tim Drake kinnie /deg. He's been my number one for a decade and I've yet to uproot him from my brain. He's literally the Worst half the time and I love him for it. And the canon isn't real refers to Tim Drake: Robin because... that sure was a comic. And that's about all I can say about it. Pre-Flashpoint Tim I miss you so dearly. I think it's fun that I want to put him in a blender and drink the juice but also want Nothing Ever to happen to him.

Oh, I've just read the article and it's... *sigh* a big fuckin yikes. I know a lot of people love Sarah J. Maas' novels - including some of my friends - and that's okay, but I think if you're leaning into and borrowing heavily from Welsh mythology then you should respect the culture. I won't lie to you, Wales has marketed itself as being a land of myth and legend (for example there's a tourism video - that my mam helped design! - that talks about Arthur), but there's a stark difference between that and, well, the A Court of Thorns and Roses series.

Using the Mabinogion story beats I don't have a problem with that, but they are fundamentally misrepresenting another culture at the end of the day. You're skewering it. Wales isn't this one-dimensional place and its culture isn't yours to do with as you please. I think you should vigorously research the Welsh language and culture the way you would any other language and culture and mythology to better inform your choices so you don't fall into this trap. We've had to endure centuries of colonialism from the English. They nearly obliterated Welsh, for fucks sake. If you don't have the decency to even commit a little bit of research to such a vibrant culture then like whack your books in the bin. You're just continuing to do as they've done for your benefit. (Also, RHYSAND ISN'T EVEN A NAME. IT'S RHYS.)

Also, this goes for The Raven Cycle by Maggie Stiefvater too. She misrepresents Owain Glyndŵr. It's pissed me off for fuckin YEARS. He wasn't a king, he was a PRINCE for a start. He - and all others like him - referred to themselves as Princes of Wales after Owain Gwynedd first used it to differentiate himself from the English kings. 'Tywysog' means chieftain. Princeps Walliae is what he signs himself as on his letters.

i’ve been listening to nothing but francis forever and i’m your man Mitski for the past six hours so obviously it’s benvolio montague angst time!! i attempted to do some rendering but it’s pretty rough :( someday i’ll get good at rendering. but that day is not today.

missing the maribelle/tharja family unit today. i think maribelle would be elated to have a daughter. she meets noire for the first time and she goes “do you play chess? violin? ride? drink tea?” and noire goes “no but im really good at throwing up in a bucket” and maribelles like “oh!!!! okay!!!!” i think she finds noire’s talisman persona charming. chrom is like “um maribelle can you please go get your daughter… she’s terrorizing the camp” and she goes “shes harmless! why do you hate women?” and he never speaks on it again. i think tharja needs a kid that will beef with her and i think brady is 100% the guy to do it. i think she looks at him and goes “what is your problem” and he flips her off. she tries to curse him but he spins his staff ninja style deflecting them back at her. he serves tea to his moms but he spits in tharjas and she knows it. and then she drinks it because it pisses him off. brady could come to love her at some point but it will not be easy and it will not come without a lot of work and a lot of arguing and i think i need some more parent/child conflict in this game. awakening gets one f bomb and its hidden in the random tharja brady PC support where he just goes “FUCK YOU” Tharja and Brady attained support level B.

I know we skirt around and sometimes talk about the ~trauma~ of it all, but I think seeing how loudly Taylor and Travis support each other on main (while still carving out a private life together) really starts to illuminate to an even clearer degree how many of Taylor's choices and actions were a response to all of ~that~ in the last decade or so (and particularly since 2016).

Again, which is not to say it's all bad, and many of them were choices she needed to make at the time for her own health and I'm sure there are some things from the time period she's continued to keep with her, but it's just really striking that she's, like, in full bloom now. And as a lot of people here are saying, she's probably more like herself these days than she'd been in the last decade. It's getting to the point (at least for me) that sometimes I can't even imagine her the way she was in the last few years because she just seems soooooo much more comfortable in her own skin. Which is silly, because that was as much her as the person she is now, she is an amalgamation of all those parts of her (just like any other person is).

But you just see *how much* she just loves so freely -- not just romantically but in everything she does -- and it's even sadder to think about how she felt like she had to slice off all these parts of her and like she had to accept a certain way of living (and being loved) in order to survive and have a life of her own.

I'm just really happy for her that she seems to be healing every passing day and is just embracing everything coming her way.
