i've started a little series of weekly posts documenting every MoC i made (digitally) over the last few years:
Week 4: the next part of 2019
just Set MoCups of SCP and Slime Rancher, because tumblr allows max. 30 images.
i made these almost directly after the The Forest Sets and i had the big idea to design them as modular test chambers that can be combined. they're more displaysets than the other ones, but i think that fits pretty alright.
i'm not a big fan of the way i built the test chamber itself, i think it's not as elegant as it could've been, but it is alright for what it needs to be.
also, i should've used a grill tile instead of a normal tile for SCP-426, because it makes me look more like a toaster than just a silver brick. oh well.
i had just gotten over 100 followers on reddit when i built these sets, so i had the idea that i would post some behind the scenes/progress stuff exclusively on my reddit profile. barely anyone saw those posts and even less people cared.
i expect that the slimes would probably be specialised pieces if LEGO ever made sets based on this game, but i think my brickbuilt slimes are still pretty adorable, even if they're blocky as fuck.
the Ranch house (the biggest and last of these sets) is also the first (and only) project i posted on LEGO ideas. it got 42 supporters before expiring.
first week last week next week

Series I, Part XVII
SCP-093 - Red Sea Object
I know I said at the top that I wasn’t going to be including tales and whatnot in the ratings, but I feel like with 093 you have to include all the test logs or you’re missing just so much of what it actually is. 093 was one of the first ones I ever read, and was the one that made me fall in love with the site, so rereading this is exciting.
It’s still one of the best. A lot of the skips, I read them, and then I just move on. But goddamn, I want so much more of 093. I want novels more. There’s just so much here: something crawled into the dimension 093 leads to, set itself up as God, and then everything just collapsed. I love it. I need more.
10/10
SCP-094 - Miniature Event Horizon
This one’s honestly kinda boring. It’s just a black sphere (essentially a black hole) that is slowly getting bigger and will eventually be big enough to consume the earth. That just doesn’t do it for me. I acknowledge that a lot of skips have world ending potential, but I like when they’re actually contained, rather than just being “yup, here’s this thing we can do nothing about except watch.”
2/10
SCP-095 - The Atomic Adventures of Ronnie Ray-Gun
These are fun. They’re comics, apparently published in the 1930s, that tell sci-fi versions of Reagan’s presidency. Love it. Fantastic idea.
9/10
SCP-096 - The “Shy Guy”
Love the idea of this one. You see its face, and it will hunt you to the ends of the earth to murder you. Fantastic.
8/10
SCP-097 - Old Fairgrounds
“Creepy fairground” is a great horror cliche (love it), and I’m glad we have one as a skip. The execution itself is kinda middle of the road, though. I’d say that the redactions this time are mostly well placed (there’s one towards the end that feels unnecessary), which is always a good thing. Pumpkins are kind of my jam, and I like that they’re appropriately spooky.
8/10
SCP-098 - Surgeon Crabs
Nope. Don’t want to be eaten by crabs. No.

in Night's defense. the only reason she did not do anything for Halloween is because she was too busy getting people out of ridiculously large halloween stores, containing a scarecrow with a pumpkin head, and keeping people away from flesh-consuming pumpkins.
however she did manage to get a few things
(she ate one entire thing)
vultures for some reason
she dissolved the chocolate in the definitely not poisoned champagne. yeah

173 Influential SCPs
I went to SCPper, found the most upvoted articles by users who've made at least one SCP, and sorted by time. These aren't necessarily the 173 best articles on the site, but I think they're likely to be the most influential. Longtime fans have probably read most or all of these but maybe this could be a starting point for newcomers.
I think sorting by time is important because the Foundation's been around almost 17 years. Writers come and go, trends come and go, new writers are influenced by what came before, and later articles are often longer and more complex than earlier ones. Just sorting by most upvoted bounces you around time; on the main wiki you read mostly series 1 articles then get dunked into SCP-5000. I hope this is a more natural progression, and that by the end people have more context for what's going on.
Using upvotes from writers only is important because the more writers like an article, the more likely later SCPs are to be influenced by it, so those articles are more likely to be important for understanding the wiki as a whole.
I might do an alternate version of this list that replaces the extremely long articles with shorter SCPs.
If you have trouble understanding one of the articles (some of the later ones get LONG), look it up on r/SCPDeclassified. If you would prefer audio narration/explanations, The Exploring Series and TheVolgun are both excellent. And of course, make sure to look in the sidebar on the wiki for guides, lists and explanations.

I wanna know about Cult eader John, what's up with him?
So the first thing to note about him, is that he isn't 'possessed' in the same way that other demon hosts are. It's instead a perfect merging of his consciousness with The Unspeakable. It's his own thoughts, his own memories and motivations, his own personality, but with all his inhibitions lowered, his negative traits exaggerated. Only slightly at first, but it deepens over time. His desperate need to be loved becomes a desire to be worshipped and served. His anger, while still quiet and restrained, becomes more volatile and destructive. He's more likely to act out of spite for selfish reasons. He's more likely to indulge in hedonistic activities. As time goes on, he becomes more manipulative, tyrannical and eventually, outright evil.
As for his MO, well. Have you ever read scp 093? You know, where they explore the empty, apocalyptic land on the other side of the mirror, and they learn the backstory of what happened to make everything abandoned, and it turned out that some thing appeared from beyond and pretended to be God, and the people prayed to it and worshipped it and built a religion around it and did increasingly terrible things for it, and in return it granted them a 'gift' which they used to heal and purify themselves, only for everyone to turn into horrific monsters and destroy the world?
That. That's what Unspeakable John is like.
Gary continues running the cult as things are. He just scoops up those who have already been outcast on the fringes of society. But John... He has his sights set on loftier goals. He returns to the church, becoming a priest again, and for a while it all seems normal. He's recovering from his trauma, he's growing as a person. Healthier, stronger, more mentally sound. He seems so enthusiastic, and so much more outspoken and charismatic than he used to be. People are so taken with him. Everyone wants to attend his services, even people from other churches. Even people who don't usually go to church. They just find him so compelling and comforting.
As things go on, he starts to develop something of a messiah complex. He wants to 'save' these people (by whatever twisted standards The Unspeakable considers them saved, at least) but also, naturally, wants them to adore him. Once he has their attention and loyalty, that's when he begins the "miracles". Small at first, he'll have a doctor's visit to check up on him, only to discover that the scar on his knee has disappeared. In fact, his whole knee is completely healed. He can walk unhindered again. He can run, jump and dance. A miracle. He'll then offer similar things to the congregation. Going from small things like removing scars and blemishes, up to healing sickness and wounds. And then eventually, like any good manipulative tyrant, start putting these miracles behind 'paywalls', making more and more extreme demands of his followers to prove their faith and loyalty, until eventually, with them completely at his whim, he sends them to Gary to receive The Unspeakable's gift.
That, of course, being the same gift we're familiar with from chapter 3, with the injection. Some of them go on to become acolytes, whereas the less useful among them are kept as thralls. Anyone who resists are to be used as sacrifices to summon forth more demons. The overall goal is to raise an army ready for the profane sabbath, then the order intends to begin the process that ends the world.
So yeah, that's the general overview for it, ye.
