got/asoiaf x star wars troopers
I've done some "star wars characters in a got/asoiaf medieval setting", so I decided to try my hand with the reverse. And where better to start than with troopers?
Tumblr media
(more in depth detail on the different armor styles under the cut)
Tumblr media
For the Kingsguard, I of course went with the Emperor's Guard for armor inspiration. I kept the three helmet fins from the GoT show, and the armor has been adapted from the show design. The helmet itself, especially the visor, is actually more reminiscent of the Republic Senate Guard. I went with the t-visor style both for accuracy to the GoT show helmets and also to have a t-visor trend with Targaryen affiliated troopers (which will be seen more later). The Kingsguard carry the double-bladed vibroblades wielded by Imperial Guard members Kir Kanos and Carnor Jax in the Crimson Empire comics.
Tumblr media
Using the stormtrooper armor as a reference for the Lannister troopers was a no-brainer. The GoT show helmets had a similar two eye-hole design, and the face mask was similar to the front design of the stormtrooper helmet. Then I painted the armor to match the color patterns on the show armor.
Tumblr media
For House Tully, I went with the Republic ARF trooper as the base for the armor design. The armor designs for House Tully soldiers from both GoT and HotD don't have much in terms of plate armor (it mostly was layers of chainmail or the scale armor tunics), so I used video game concept art as a reference for style. I did keep the fishscale design on the tunic though.
Tumblr media
The House Tyrell helmet is based on the Clone Cadet Training armor design from The Clone Wars. That helmet was the closest to the design from the GoT show. The rest of the design was just adapted from the show armor.
Tumblr media
House Stark, of course, is based on the Snow Trooper armor, specifically the Clone Cold assault Trooper armor that features in the early seasons of the Clone Wars. The helmet, the gambeson, and the shoulder pieces are the main carry-over from the actual House Stark armor.
Tumblr media
For House Greyjoy, I took inspiration from the various iterations of SCUBA troopers. The helmet is from the First Order SCUBA troopers (featuring in Star Wars: Resistance). The rest of the armor is a mixed version of the Clone SCUBA troopers that featured in the two Clone Wars animations. The torse design is also reminiscent of the armor worn by the Greyjoys in GoT.
Tumblr media
The helmet for the Targaryen troopers was based on the mandalorian helmet design, specifically the carry-over of the t-visor. The rest of the armor, using the HotD design as a base, is built off the First Order Stormtrooper armor.
Tumblr media
The Armor for House Arryn is based off the armor used by the Mandalorian Imperial Supercommandoes that appeared in Star Wars: Rebels, though I adapted it with the helmet with a Clone BARC trooper visor and added the topfin. The rest of the armor/color patterns are based on the armor design from HotD.
Tumblr media
The House Baratheon armor is mostly based off the Clone ARC Trooper armor from the Clone Wars. The torso design was similar enough to the GoT House Baratheon armor that it seemed like a good fit. The helmet with its t-visor is more Mandalorian in nature, calling on the connection House Baratheon has to House Targaryen.
Tumblr media
The House Martell armor takes inspiration from the Clone Desert Trooper armor. Most of the armor design is from the clone armor, but some parts are inspired by the armor worn by Oberyn Martell in GoT as well as concept art I found on the web.

Gender: No gender only chaos!! >:3
Pronouns: They/Them
Favourite Colour: I love all colours but I really like yellow.
Home Life: I live on Tracy Island with my brothers Scott, Virgil, Alan, Gordon and John, my sister Kayo, my Grandma and our family friend Brains. I'm adopted and originally from the UK but I don't really want to discuss my birth family rn.
Career: I am International Rescue's first ever cadet, I am training to become an aquanaut under Gordon and Virgil's guidance. I still have to go to regular school 3 times a week tho ugh...
Hobbies: I like gaming and drawing and swimming and scuba diving and climbing and rock pooling and skateboarding (tho I'm not very good at it) and destroying my brothers in pillow fights.
Strengths and Flaws: I've been told that I'm determined and driven but I'm also stubborn. Virgil says I'm accident prone which I kinda have to agree with him there, the infirmary is my second home. (;^^)

Got tagged by @saggitary to talk about clone OCs. I'm currently not active in the Star Wars fandom so I dragged my feet a little doing this (thanks for the tag but this is the only exception I'm making for the foreseeable future since I'm still kinda fed up with the fandom!)
Anyway, I'll tell you about Sponge since they're my most beloved clone blorbo.
Tumblr media
CT-2525, aka Sponge, was a clone medic for the 501st battalion. A rather curious role for a clone such as them, since if anyone deserved to hate anything relating to medical procedures of any kind, it would certainly be the clone cadet that was a case study.
As an intersex individual, they were unique in all the ways that would get a clone terminated on Kamino. It was a chance intervention that prevented them from being decommissioned off record on their decant day, but unfortunately this chance at life was not free from horrendous strife.
Between being studied for medical science by both Kaminoans and fellow medic trainees, being forced into a position they hated as a medical trainee themself, and having all but one of their batchmates turn their backs on them because they were no longer going to be a scuba trooper like the rest of them, Sponge was no stranger to being met with misfortune time and time again.
Being assigned to the 501st was, like many things in their miserable existence, nothing short of psychological torture for them.
Between having superior officers they couldn't trust or respect, being confronted with a blatant lack of regard for personal safety on shore leave, and struggling to form meaningful connections with other clones because they were so used to getting gawked at like they were a freak show, you'd expect their deployment days to be some of the worst...
And yet, no matter how much they hated to admit it, the rest of the medics of the 501st made it tolerable enough. Them and their service barghest, Beautiful, who was the best friend and coworker a clone could ever ask for. Mostly because she was well behaved and couldn't talk back.
I have no brain to see whom of mine mutuals are still into the eating-itself-constantly fandom, so if you see this and you're currently into SW, feel free to chitter about clones! But do make your own post please!

Let's not cry over the fall of literature, over its misery and corruption.
...
There's no point in shedding tears, sounding the alarm, crying in the wilderness, and running with a torch. Time will do its job. Time will sweep away and sift the dust, fine, powdery, fleeting, and unimportant. Harder lumps will remain – among them will be diamonds, there will be nuggets, there will be pretty but not very valuable onyxes, there will be pieces of quartz, there will be ordinary, gray pebbles, there will be kidney stones born in pain, there will be someone's knocked-out teeth, there will also be lumps of dried excrement. It will be an interesting collection. Interesting because of its diversity. Because literature must be diverse, because literature is man, it's humanity. And humanity, Mr. Jacek, is wonderfully diverse. Humanity consists of bards, prophets, geniuses, hairdressers, consumptives, headhunters, whore-mongers, freemasons, impotents, queers, publishers, sons of bitches, gondoliers, programmers, blondes, scouts, cadets, embezzlers, cuckolds, boors, gluttons, Vikings, translators, washerwomen, seamstresses, mourners, eccentrics, nuns, senators, electricians, brats, senior counselors, poets, presidents, bookbinders, Templars, Arapaho Indians, scuba divers, brothers-in-law, Mr. Maciek, Miss Paulina, cavers, our wives, other people's wives, brothers, sisters, ward nurses, neurosurgeons, thieves, catechists, editors, and flagellants. And others.
And You. And me too.

While I am absolutely passionate about business, marketing, and all things social media - I want to share a few things most people don’t know about me. I am a massive goofball - 24/7 - I LOVE to have fun. I have this motto “if we aren’t having fun, we aren’t doing it right” and I LIVE by it. I’ve done a lot of fun things… From 13-16 years old I was in the Naval Sea Cadet Core where I learned how to scuba dive, shoot accurately (I’m a marksman), and rappel down huge walls. I even went to boot camp. My other passions in life include acting, singing, drawing, dancing, cheerleading, nerding out on voluntary education (I’m obsessed with learning), cooking, thrift-shopping and reading. Sometimes I kind of feel like Barbie - in that my outfits and roles are always changing… But I’m not the “perfect hair and makeup” kind of person. I’m most comfortable in a t-shirt and activewear. I’m probably one of the softest people you’ll ever meet (outside of business) - I’m incredibly empathetic and passionate about helping single moms, orphans, and children in other countries. I’m honored that you took the time to read this. Thanks for stopping by! More courses from the same author: Rachel Pedersen Salepage: Go Gram Grow – Rachel Pedersen

(Idk what else to say about Nash so let’s do the other four!!)
Peyton loves scuba diving nearby coral reefs and observing sea life. Also cleaning any discarded nets or hooks.
Even helping to get hooks out of sharks mouth as some do swim to him for help.
Jay often calls Peyton a green giant due to his height and being a vegetarian. He humors her with the name, even one time when they were younger dressing as the green giant for Halloween.
Jay loves being a tease and seeing how flustered he can make people.
Jay loves watching the troll movies and watches them all the time. Singing along and sometimes dancing to them.
Matthew loves to sketch in his free time, mostly trees and buildings. He does his best to sketch people and hopes to sketch Orin. With permission of course.
Matthew taught Ebony (his horse) whistle commands as it was louder and more effective in the middle of battles. He even taught her to bow when he does and other tricks.
Matthew has scars but also burn scars from rescuing his fellow knights from a burning tower.
Eva doesn’t let anyone touch her, due to past experience with the cadet she punched. Anyone that touches her, her immediate reaction is to push them back.
Due to her uncle being of high rank, Eva got some privileges as one of them reading old earth books. She enjoys reading about trees and loves willow trees. Wanting to run around the leaves inside.
(This one is just if a theory about 72 being an experiment is true so here we go.) Eva’s yellow eyes glow in the dark, similar to Soheil and Naveed or when she’s a bit stressed.
Facts about your bug, your clemmy, your knight, your honey I think that's what sky calls the listener AND your 72! (You can choose which one you wanna do tho :3 or all of them!)

Imagine for just a second that Arla Fett was rescued from death watch by Jango and got adopted by Jaster too and was chosen as the clone template instead. (This is all purely out of speculation and headcanons) She was the better marksman, was trained in more forms of martial arts, was the better piolet, the better fighter. She had less genetic flaws, like she had better eye sight, less allergy’s and (this one’s just a headcanon) she was taller than her brother. As an afab person her body was built to endure pushed-to-the-brink survival better than amab people do. Between her and Jango genetic and skill wise she was the top pick between both of them.
Think about it, it would be very cool. Like I really would like to see Grevious get knocked tf out by a tall, buff as hell women with a giant rotary blaster. Think of the clone oc’s we could make! We could have trans masc oc’s, It’s really not a gender bend au because there wouldn’t be Arla clones that are the female version of Rex or Cody or whoever because they would be different people with different personality’s. Thought honestly Arla clones wouldn’t be any different than Jango clones because of their upbringing and training.
I think Arla would have been much more picky when it came to trainers and would pick way less narcissistic bastards and more people with. backgrounds as teachers, strategists, survivalists, medics/doctors, and a variety of weapons and martial arts. Make no mistake she’s no mother hen stereotype, she was harder on her set of alpha class arc’s than Jango ever was, but she wasn’t as cold and cruel as he was either. She would have been a little like Walon Vau in a since, she loved them and wanted them to survive, she needed them to know everything and anything they could about the shitty galaxy they were about to be sent off into without having seen it once.
But unlike Vau she would have never abused them like he did. She wanted her troops to confidence and high self esteem, she wanted them to trust her, to trust themselves. She couldn’t let what happened to her happen to them. They wouldn’t be lead astray or fall into the wrong hands, she would allow them to be gaslight and brainwashed into unquestioning followers. They needed to be the best soldiers the galaxy had ever seen.
Arlas troops would have spoken several languages fluently, could write in the native language of every planet in the republic, knew nearly every form of martial arts including that of the Jedi. There were no specialized units in the first 10 years because every clone was trained in everything from scuba training to pilot training. They were smarter, faster, stronger, more aware of themselves and everything around them, they knew what they needed to and more. They had a stronger force of will and quicker wit, faster judgment and we’re skeptical of everything.
Arla encouraged the individuality and freedom to think for themselves in all her clones, if she didn’t then she felt she was no better than death watch, the very people her troops would be opposing. An important factor in this story is that she didn’t want to raise a kid of her own nor did she take bounty’s during those years. Where Jango was busy off with Boba or running a bounty she was using that time to plan and strategize. She was overseeing every single training module her troops would learn from from the time they were decanted to the time they graduated. She was teaching classes to little CT’s and having one on one study’s with cadets falling behind.
She also never allowed any cadets to be decommissioned or reconditioned for any reason, she always found a useful place for them somewhere. She refused to let a single ounce of her dna, training, time and hard work be wasted just because the long necks didn’t like a cadets scores or phenotypical features. She was looking into all the kaminoans devious plots and found out what the true purpose of her army was. But most importantly Arla made sure she had over rides for every clones chip, not just her alphas.
In this au the clone wars wouldn’t have started so early. Because Arla was training cadets full time she didn’t have the time nor the patience to be Dooku’s lackey and would have never taken that job to attempt to kill Padme. Thus Obi-wan would have never been made aware of Kamino and would have never snooped around the separatist droid factory on Geanosis. Instead he would have been off with Anakin saving his mother and Anakin would have never slaughtered those tusken raiders or fallen to the dark side. This put Darth sidious’s plan back several years, 3 more at least, because he needed a worthy and powerful apprentice. He still had his sights set on Anakin but he would have needed much more to sway him to the dark side. But by the time Luke and Leya had been born and he saw they were quite powerful in the force and wanted them as his new apprentices. (But that’s for y’all to think about because we’re getting off topic)
Moral of the story; imagine a world where Ashoka has an older sister, Anakins second in command is a terrifyingly competent but witty and energetic 6’2 woman with dark hair in a buzz cut and biceps bigger than your head. Imagine a bunch of Arla Fett clones fucking it up at 79’s while on leave. Imagine Aayla still falls in love with her commander and there a kick ass lesbian couple. IMAGINE THE POSSIBILITYS! IMAGINE!!!
I want to hear everyone’s thoughts on this btw so if you’ve got criticism, thoughts, critiques or points to make then I want to hear them!
(Galaxy brain idea, what if both of them were templates because idk 1. Dooku wasn’t sure which one of them would be better so he picked both. 2. Jango and Arla come as a package deal on any job. 3. Sidious thought that having different genders and faces would get the Jedi to trust the clones more idk? Point is imagine Jango clones being (nicely) bullied by their older sisters)
NOW TAKE THIS SHIT AND RUN WITH IT, GO, GO, GO!

it will be 20 years until i get my oc troopers bios up but here’s the lowdown <3
st - 1136 : skipper / kip
scuba trooper in kit fisto’s legion of clones. serves specifically as a scuba trooper and aquatics expert. absolutely adores sea life and is fascinated by water. during his cadet days, he often got caught for wanting to see if he could swim in the waters. that eventually took him towards his current career path. his name came from what people would often call the head of a underwater expedition; skipper was at first used mockingly in his cadet days and eventually became truth. sometimes people shorten it to kip or skip. he’s proud of who he is. outside the water, kip is a very easy going trooper who thrives off of making people laugh in the darkest times, almost as a light in the dark. he’s usually referred to as the annoying little brother no one expected but always got. his jokes and humor are never at the expense of anyone— aways about himself or anything he can think of! this goes on even when he loses his arm and is on the operating table— he asks his medic “could you give me a hand?”
ct - 5678 / sequence
his name sounds pretty simple, right? something in reference to how his serial number is in sequential order. but that’s not all there is to him. growing up on kamino, they are made to serve specific purposes. he didn’t much care for those purposes only every cared when it pertained to his batchmates wellbeing. sequence is fascinated by the science behind cloning a specific dna sequence to their own liking. that is where he gets his name. he may be the clone that is most well versed in their dna, with dedicated studies mocked up in barracks. he’s not so much introverted, hes more of a person who only speaks if they have anything to say or provide. he is softspoken and kind, always there to help provide a quiet companionship. if you need a better understanding of the mission on a chemical level? he’s your guy! currently, he’s unassigned in terms of who he works with (jedi etc). so it could be up to plot!
ct - 2222 / twos
twos is the boisterous, heart in the right place, himbo of all my troopers. his name comes from not only referencing his serial number, but also the fact that everyone thinks he has a grand total of two braincells. he is often the main muscle people put into their plans, because he will follow the order and adapt to it as much as needed. he is a bit of a loud idiot sometimes, but he is unafraid of letting people know he doesn’t know what’s going on or what’s happening. twos would asked it explained to him so that he can fully understand the assignment, questions included. mostly? twos is constantly, unashamedly himself. he is also unassigned, so that could he up for plots!
ct - 1013 / brightly
brightly is the quietest among the group. he got his name since being a young cadet afraid of the dark. his brothers made fun of him often. and on a training expedition gone wrong, stuck in the darkness of a moon, brightly came with an idea. he rigged a bomb and threw it to go off as vibrantly and in the most distracting way possible to get everyone to safety. there, he was awarded for his quick thinking. but he doesn’t think he deserves it. he was just afraid of the dark… and he wanted light to shine brightly to make it go away. now he is esteemed with the title explosives expert. he is also unassigned!!

Just one final thing I need to point out about Seafood Squad that I'm not sure came across very well in this drabble. No one in the batch aside from Sponge and Jelly knew that Sponge was taken out of Scuba training because of them being intersex.
Sponge never really had much control over what the Kaminoans or Trainers did to them during their cadet years, so they kept that as quiet as possible to at least have some semblance of privacy. They only told Jelly because they trusted him wholeheartedly. Geoduck, Conch and Crayfish had absolutely no idea that their younger sibling was literally pulled away to be studied for medical science.
It makes Geoduck feel all the much worse about his role in their suffering, that's for sure, but he's not going to use it as an excuse to make himself seem like less of a shitty brother. He knows what he did was wrong and he can't undo it. But at least he's trying to do better, unlike Conch who (even if he knew) actively does not care and seems to enjoy perpetuating Sponge's misery because he's that much of an asshole.

Atin swapped places with a Cadet that had a twin. The Cadet was training to become a Scuba Trooper and... things went wrong. Atin also happened to be in that situation at the same time.
Taking a chance Atin had feigned memory loss after being mistaken for said Scuba Trooper Cadet. And thus Atin got the rest of the training and had to pretend to be someone he wasn't... and somehow he did a good job because somehow his... Batchmates.... never said anything.
So it was Atin who became part of the Coruscant Gaurd instead of going to the front or wherever he originally would've gone. You'll find this is just one of the many secrets this man holds. You'll find he's not really... normal... as most would put it.
(The Cadet watches from the afterlife in amusement sometimes.
His name is Bubbles. Yes I do have a dark sense of humor, why you ask?)
In Atin's own words "I've arrived broken, so I'm not really cracking under pressure as much as I'm just getting annoyed that they keep pulling off the tape that's holding everything together."

Chapter 7: A Sky Full of Stars
Emma’s eyes squeezed shut as the door creaked closed behind her, letting the latch click quietly in place. She quickly toed off her shoes, setting them down softly in her closet, grabbing a pair of pajamas and tossing them over her head in the darkness of her room. She tiptoed toward her bed, pulling back the covers just as the table light clicked on.
“You did not think you could disappear all night and then try and sneak into bed without an explanation, did you?”
Emma’s shoulders sagged forward with a groan. “I’m not sneaking, I just didn’t want to disturb you.”
She turned to see Ruby sitting up in bed with her arms crossed in front of her.
“We waited for hours for you to show up tonight. Where were you?”
“I’m not a child, I just didn’t feel like dancing.” She sat down on her bed.
“So, you were just out, walking until…” She looked over at the clock. “Oh my God, Emma it’s 4am.” She leaned toward her. “Is that a hickey?”
Emma’s hand instinctively went to her neck. “What? No, of course not.”
“Emma, I know a hickey when I see one, and that one is right above your breast.” Emma looked down, seeing the reddened bruise above her breast line, she blushed, remembering Killian’s mouth sucking on her flesh earlier this evening. “You’re blushing. Oh my God, Emma, who is he? Have I met him? Holy shit, did you have sex?”
“Ruby my God, would you stop with all the questions.”
“Well, I know it wasn’t Graham, cuz he was with me all night asking questions about you. And I thought you didn’t like this Walsh guy?”
“Eww no.” She answered in disgust.
“Ok, so it’s not Graham and it’s not Walsh.”
“I’m not talking about this.” She grinned, lying down on her pillow, and pulling the blankets up over her neck.
“I can’t believe out of all of us, you’re the first one to get laid out here.”
“Good night, Ruby.” Emma protested.
“Emma you have to tell me something, anything.”
“I suppose I should thank you.” Emma laughed.
“Me? What did I do?”
“If it hadn’t been for those condom’s you gave me, tonight would have never happened.” She turned over toward the wall, a smile growing on her face. “Though I’m out now, so I’m going to have to get more from you.”
“Emma, oh my God, I gave you a packet of five.”
“Night Ruby.” She heard her friend mumble and turn off the light. She was sure she would face a barrage of questions tomorrow, but tonight she needed to sleep, her body exhausted, her skin still on fire from the memory of his mouth, the touch of his hands, and the warmth of his body.
~*~
Killian managed to get to the bridge an hour later than he normal would have. “Evening Captain.” His first officer greeted him as he reached the bridge at 4 am.
“Evening, Smee. I apologize for my lateness, I was…” He paused. “Delayed.”
“No problem, sir, it has been quiet tonight.”
“Get some sleep sir, I have the helm.” He dismissed his first mate, taking a seat in the Captain’s chair and staring out at the moonlit water. He was still hours from sunrise, his favorite time of the morning. He should be tired, but he knew he wouldn’t be able to sleep even if he tried. His mind was still on Emma, he had only just left her, but he longed to still be holding her, snuggling into her blonde locks, breathing her in as she nestled into his embrace.
He needed to do something, show her that the night had meant something to him. Beyond the carnal activities she had provided, he enjoyed spending time with the woman, talking to her, getting to know her.
Was that what he was doing with Emma?
Did he intend to get to know her, did he want to continue to know her past these next 8 days?
“Excuse me, Quartermaster?” The man turned toward him. “You are younger than me, you must have experience with members of the opposite sex.”
The man looked at him questioningly. “Yes, sir. I suppose I do.”
“Excellent, if you wanted to tell a woman that you had a pleasant evening with her, without also scaring her off, what would you do?”
“Flowers are always nice, Sir.”
“Flowers, why the bloody hell didn’t I think of that? Thank you, Mate.”
Killian scribbled down directions with a note to Emma and sent it with the Deck Cadet to place the order with the florist. He may not have intended to “hook up” with anyone on board, but he’d be damned if he was going to be anything but a gentleman, now that he had.

“Can you get your manager or something because I need this taken care of?” Emma stood firmly at the desk, holding the large painting in her hands.
“Yes Ma’am, one moment please.” The woman disappeared behind a door and returned with the man who had approached Killian the night they first met.
“How can I help you Ma’am?”
“As I was explaining to her, this painting was delivered to my room and I need to return it to the owner.”
“I’m sorry, was it delivered to your room by accident?”
“Well, no, it was gifted to me by another guest, but I don’t want the gift.”
“Can’t you just return it to the person who gave it to you?”
Emma exhaled, “I would love to, but seeing as I don’t know his last name, nor do I want to interact with him again, I would prefer you do it.”
“Alright, so you don’t exactly know who the guest is, but you want me to find the guest and give them back this painting?”
“I know who the guest is…well I know his first name.” She paused. “Look, I don’t want this damn thing, do you? Cuz I’d be happy to just give it to you.”
“Is there a problem here?”
Emma squeezed her eyes shut when she heard his voice behind her, spinning around she smiled up at him. “No problem, I just need to get rid of this damned painting, and as I was telling these two, I only know his first name, but I need this to get back to him.” She shoved the note that Walsh had left with the painting into Killian’s hands.
“And as I was just telling the lady, if we don’t know the guests full name then we…” Robin was explaining.
Killian crumpled the note in his hands. “We will take care of it.” he added quickly.
“Exactly. Wait, what?” Robin turned toward him incredulously.
“Please take the information she has, and we will make sure to find the mysterious suitor to return the artwork. If you’ll both excuse me, I have a tour to attend.” Killian nodded to Robin, and then met her gaze, passing the crumpled note back to her before winking and walking toward the atrium.
Emma pushed the painting across the desk, smoothing out the note to lay on top of it, “As you can see by the note, his name is Walsh. I have to go.” She turned and ran off in the direction Killian was headed, ignoring Robin’s protests behind her.
She caught up to him as she turned the corner opening into the large atrium. “Killian.” He turned toward her.
“Emma.” He said with a grin. “Sleep well?”
She bit her lip, “Very.” They began walking through the atrium. “Thank you for assisting back there, I just can’t have that painting in my room anymore.”
“Well at least he didn’t lie in his note to you. You are very beautiful.”
She blushed, “That was not the point.”
“Of course not.” He paused his steps, coming to a halt. “I apologize for needing to leave, but I really do have a tour.”
“I know, I thought I would try and warn you first, I’m in the tour, with my friends.”
“Oh, I see.” He stammered out nervously.
“And my brother.” She added.
“Oh my, and do they…”
“Know that I spent the evening being ravished by the Captain? No.”
He smirked, “Ravished, you say?”
She felt her cheeks heat up before she ran off ahead of him to join her group who were getting an introduction from the ships Cruise Director, Regina, who was leading their tour.
Her friends were waiting for her at the tour start location. “There you are, I wasn’t sure if you were going to skip out on us again.” Will whined as she approached him and wrapped an arm around her shoulder.
“And miss seeing you, never.” She saw Belle standing next to him and smiled.
“I convinced him to take a scuba lesson with me tomorrow.”
Emma peered at Will. “Oh really? I am impressed, you told me you would never do something that required you to breathe under water.”
“Oi, don’t rub it in, I’m still not happy about it.” Emma winked at Belle as he continued to complain.
“Good morning ladies and gentlemen, I am your Captain, Killian Jones and I’ll be joining your tour today, Ms. Mills does an excellent tour and I try and join when I can to answer any of your questions.” His eyes were directed at her, his smile spreading across his face before he quickly looked away. “How many of you have been on a cruise before?” When there were not many hands raised, he laughed. “Seems we are all newbies.” He paused.
“Oi, you mean you’ve never Captain’d a ship before?”
“Not a cruise ship, no, my last job was just a small skip, but before that I was sailing battleships, I can assure you, I am quite experienced and it’s much easier to sail a cruise ship when there are no enemies lurking around the corner.”
“Like pirates?” Will responded and Killian chuckled.
“I haven’t seen any pirates on the waters since we set sail, I’ll be sure to alert you if I see any.”
Emma jabbed her elbow into Will’s side, “Stop harassing him.”
“If we have no more questions, I’ll let Regina lead the way.” She followed him down the hallway, Regina pointing out different parts of the ship, Killian stopping to answer all the questions they had. Regina was a very experienced tour guide, but she preferred her private tour with Killian better.
When they got to the bridge, Emma wandered through the area, stopping to remember the kiss she shared with the Captain at the helm.
“I bet you get all the ladies being a Captain.” Will continued to barrage Killian at every step.
She watched as his head dipped, a blush darkening his cheeks as Regina spoke. “Generally, the Captain is much too busy with the duties of the ship to chase women.”
“Is it against the rules for a Captain to date his passengers?” Ruby flirted in the Captain’s direction.
“It is definitely frowned upon and a rule the Captain employs with all of his crew.” Regina answered once again.
“Too bad, he’s hot as hell.” Her friend whispered into her ear.
“Shh.” Emma looked up to see Killian grinning at her before showing Will how to steer the ship. She could feel her ears burning, pulling her hair over them to hide the blush.
The tour continued to the back of the theater, Regina providing her background as an entertainer on her previous ship while everyone watched the crew building a large staircase for the show that evening. Emma saw Killian standing at the back of the group and quietly made her way beside him.
“A Captain who doesn’t follow his own rules? Interesting.” She said softly.
“It is quite scandalous.” He said, staring straight ahead. “In fact, I broke many rules just sneaking you down to my quarters.”
Her head shot up to meet his eyes, a smirk deviously planted on his face. “You are a bad boy.”
“I am behaving quite terribly indeed. Perhaps we should end this at once?” He sang softly in her direction.
“Considering you have already broken so many rules, it’s not like obeying them now will change anything.”
“Are you suggesting I continue with this disreputable behavior?”
“That depends?”
“On what, love?”
She started to walk back toward her friends before glancing in his direction, “Whether or not your balcony is involved.” He licked his lips and Emma’s heart rate increased as she joined her group, trying to ignore the pounding in her chest. She was playing a very dangerous game.
What was it about this man that made her feel so bold?
“You said you sailed a battleship before, were you in the Navy?” Emma tuned back into the conversation as her brother approached Killian.
“Aye, I was discharged a little more than two years ago.”
“Must be crazy going from a ship like that to a luxury liner. Sailing in the line of duty is much different than doing so for pleasure I would assume.”
“Aye, but there is still much to be done. In the Navy we fight for each other, we sail to survive. Out here, I carry precious cargo that needs to be tended to. Either way, my job is to ensure the safety for all onboard.”
“My brother is a cop, so you are speaking his language.” She joked, inserting herself into the conversation.
“A very commendable profession indeed.” Killian added with a nod.
“Our friend, Graham over there is a Sheriff. Been trying to set my sister up with him all week. She needs a little law and order in her life.”
Emma paled and choked out a laugh. “Ok, enough information David, I’m sure Kil…the Captain is not interested in my love life.” Killian’s devious grin had her nervously shifting on her feet, her arousal making her uncomfortable.
“Good luck in your endeavors for your sister, David.” Killian nodded in her direction and went back to the larger group.
As soon as he was out of range, Emma slapped her brother on the arm. “Oh my God, don’t tell everyone you meet that you are trying to hook me up with random men.” Emma scolded her brother.
“Come on Emma, live a little. Graham would be very suitable for you.”
“That sounds like a code word for boring and not at all interesting to me.”
“Not everyone can be a criminal whisking you off your feet into a life of danger and intrigue.”
She narrowed her eyes, “I made one mistake, that doesn’t mean I need you to control my life going forward.”
He stepped back, “You’re right. I’m just trying to find you a nice man.”
“I can do that on my own.”
“You have a type, Emma. And it’s not usually good for you.”
“I appreciate that you care about me David, I do. And I love you, but please let me handle my own love life.”
“What love life? You avoid men like the plague, I’ve yet to see you interact with anyone on board this ship. I worry about you being alone and Henry not having a father as he grows up.”
“Woah, look, I’m here to have fun, which by the way, I am, thank you for asking, but I’m not here looking for a dad for my kid.” She knew her brother meant well, but he tended to go overboard when he was playing the father figure role. “David, you’re supposed to be here for fun too, not babysit me. You don’t have to take care of me.”
“I know, you’re right. I just want to see you happy. You deserve that. You do so much for Henry, I want you to have something for Emma too.”
“I appreciate that. And I have been talking to people on this trip. You aren’t with me 24/7.”
“Oh really, and who would you be talking to, is it this Walsh guy I keep hearing about?”
“God no, not him. But maybe I’ve been enjoying time with someone, but we are most definitely not going to talk about it.” She winked at him and then grabbed him by the hand, dragging him back to the group.
~*~
Killian managed to get through the rest of the tour unscathed, doing his best to avoid any additional awkwardness with Emma. When the tour ended, he parted ways with the passengers, reluctantly leaving Emma with her friends, joining Regina in the atrium.
“Very well done, you give a great tour.”
“Thank you, I’ve trained hard for this job, it’s nice to hear someone appreciate it.” He laughed lightly, walking toward the Purser desk to check in on Robin. “However, maybe next time you should work on not making eyes with the passengers.”
“I beg your pardon. I was not making eyes at anyone.”
She scoffed. “Whatever you say, Captain.”
“There you are.” Robin announced, popping up at the desk. “How the bloody hell am I supposed to find a passenger with no last name.” he looked up and saw Regina standing next to him. “Hello, love.”
“Good afternoon, Robin. Please tell me what reason we have for trying to find a passenger with no last name?”
“No need, I can find him, I’ve seen him around.” Killian interrupted.
“How do you know who he is based off his first name, there has to be more than one Walsh on board, how can you be certain it is the man who gave this woman a very nice painting?”
“Let me worry about it.” He picked up the painting from behind the desk.
“Do I want to know what any of this is about?” Regina asked.
“I’m not sure I want to know what this is about.” Robin complained.
“For once it’s not you that’s acting shady, Rob.” Regina smiled in Robin’s direction, which caused Killian’s eyebrow to rise in surprise.
“I can if you want me too.” Robin flirted leaning into the counter as Regina tapped her fingers on the desk.
“Maybe after a few drinks.” She turned toward him, ignoring his questioning gaze, and walked away.
“Um, suddenly she’s calling you Rob?” Killian inquired.
“Why do you know who Walsh is? And does this have anything to do with you not attending the crew party last night, or that blonde woman I keep finding you with?”
Killian tapped his ear, realizing it was better for him to retreat than continue his discussion. “Fortunately, I have Captain duties to perform, so I will see you later, Mate.” He shouted over his shoulder, carrying the painting with him as he whistled a tune.

“Ruby says that you’re a bouncer at the bar you guys work at?” Emma looked up as Graham spoke. She was sitting nervously alone with the man at the bar. Everyone conveniently coming up with plans they had as soon as the two of them sat down at the table.
“Um, yeah, I know it’s not as cool as being a Sheriff or a cop, but I like it.”
“I have never really thought of my job as cool. Frightening at times, but never cool.” He paused. “It doesn’t really give me a lot of time to do things on my own, like date or have a life.”
“Yes, trust me I understand that. I’m not sure if everyone told you, but I have a son at home, he’s six.”
“I think I heard David mention him in passing. That must be difficult to handle on your own.”
“He’s a great kid, and everyone helps out, honestly I don’t know what I would do without my friends. Ruby and her mom babysit all the time. David is always helping out with yardwork and repairs, August gives me time off for parent teacher conferences, soccer games, and Will…” She chuckled thinking about all the times that Will had stepped in to be the father figure Henry needed when he didn’t have one. “Will has been the best friend anyone could ever ask for.”
She smiled at him, he was very attractive, friendly, and she could tell he was an honest and good man. But Emma wasn’t interested in him no matter how much she tried to seek an attraction like her brother and Ruby kept pushing for. Maybe it was because he was too settled, too secure in what he wanted and had in his life. Emma knew that wasn’t fair, she should want that in a man.
“It’s nice to get help from those around you. Perhaps you would have room for others who would be interested in participating in your life.”
“I’m gonna stop you right there, Graham. You seem like a really nice guy…”
“But…” He laughed.
“I’m not really looking for a relationship, I’m not in that place in my head. And you seem like the kind of guy that would want that, and that’s great, any girl would be lucky to get that from you, but that’s just not me.”
“Ah. The kiss of death, you’re giving me the it’s-me-not-you-speech.”
“I’m sorry, that sounds awful. I’m really not an awful person.”
“No, you’re not. Just very honest, which I appreciate.”
“Have I told you how great Ruby is?” She laughed. “Because I have stories for days about why she is deserving of a nice guy like you.”
“Your friend is very nice, honestly the only reason I came over to talk to your group in the first place was because of her, but then she kept talking about you the whole time that I got the impression she wasn’t interested.”
“That sounds like Ruby. She’s always willing to push the good guy to me, despite her own interests.” He looked around the bar awkwardly. “She usually goes to the pool for a late swim on the lido deck about this time.”
“Oh, did I make it that obvious?”
“No need to apologize, please, you won’t offend me if you suddenly feel the need for a swim.”
He excused himself politely with an eager look on his face and Emma headed back to her room, exhaustion finally hitting her from lack of sleep from the previous evening. Turning the corner to her room she spotted Will and Belle exiting his room. When they passed her in the hall, Will’s face was red from embarrassment. “Enjoy your evening you two.” She teased.
“Goodnight Emma.” Belle adjusted her hair, tucking her blouse back together.
She clicked her card at her door and opened it into her room. The first thing she spotted was the giant bouquet of flowers and she groaned as she shut the door behind her. She was going to find out where this Walsh guy was staying and give him a piece of her mind.
She sniffed the flowers, yanking the card from the plastic stem. They were beautiful. Sliding the card from the envelope she peered down, bracing for the next creepy thing Walsh would say to her, only to be surprised by the sender.
“A sky full of stars, and he was staring at her.”
Until we meet again, CJ
Emma stared at the flowers, her heart racing. She lay back on her bed, staring at the card in her hand, a smile on her face reserved only for Captain Jones.

Horror Movies Based on True Events
Open Water (2003)
When a couple goes scuba diving in Open Water, their boat accidentally leaves them behind in shark-infested water. It’s based on something that really happened to American tourists Tom and Eileen Lonergan, who were left behind by a diving company off the Great Barrier Reef. By the time the mistake was realized two days later, it was too late, and they were never seen again. A shark attack seems not to have been the cause of death, however, as the couple’s dive jackets were eventually found. The jackets weren’t damaged, which suggested that the Lonergans likely took them off, “delirious from dehydration,” and drowned.
Borderland (2007)
When three friends head to a Mexican border town to have some fun in this movie, they get mixed up with a cult specializing in human sacrifice. The concept loosely stems from the life of Adolfo de Jesus Constanzo, a drug lord and cult leader who was responsible for the death of American student Mark Kilroy.
A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984)
The iconic baddie Freddy Krueger kills teenagers via their dreams in Wes Craven’s franchise-launching film. Craven told Vulture that the idea stemmed from an article he read in The Los Angeles Times about a family of Cambodian refugees with a young son who reported awful nightmares. “He told his parents he was afraid that if he slept, the thing chasing him would get him, so he tried to stay awake for days at a time,” said Craven. “When he finally fell asleep, his parents thought this crisis was over. Then they heard screams in the middle of the night. By the time they got to him, he was dead. He died in the middle of a nightmare. Here was a youngster having a vision of a horror that everyone older was denying. That became the central line of Nightmare on Elm Street.”
Black Water (2007)
Set in the swamps of Australia, this movie sees a group of fishers attacked by a humongous crocodile. It was inspired by an actual crocodile attack in the Australian outback in 2003 that killed a man named Brett Mann in an area that his friends said they’d “never, ever” seen a crocodile before.
Dead Ringers (1988)
In David Cronenberg’s movie, Jeremy Irons plays twin gynecologists who do messed up things with patients and ultimately die together in the end. Cronenberg adapted the movie from Bari Wood and Jack Geasland’s novel Twins, which was inspired by the lives of actual twin gynecologists Stewart and Cyril Marcus. TheNew York Times noted that the Marcuses enjoyed “trading places to fool their patients” and that they ultimately “retreat[ed] into heavy drug use and utter isolation.”
Deliver Us From Evil (2014)
The movie follows a cop and a priest who team up to take on the supernatural. It’s based on self-proclaimed “demonologist” Ralph Sarchie’s memoir Beware the Night, in which he tells supposedly true stories, such as the time he found himself “in the presence of one of hell’s most dangerous devils” possessing a woman.
Poltergeist (1982)
In Poltergeist, a family’s home is invaded by ghosts that abduct one of the daughters. The film was inspiredby unexplained events, such as loud popping noises and moved objects, that occurred in 1958 at the Hermanns’ home in Seaford, New York.
Psycho (1960)
Alfred Hitchcock’s essential film traces a woman who embezzles money from her employer and runs off to a mysterious hotel where she is (58-year-old spoiler alert) murdered by the man running it, Norman Bates. Bates is said to have been based on Ed Gein, a Wisconsin man who was convicted for one murder in the 1950s, but suspected for others. He also was a grave robber, and authorities found many disturbing results of that in his home, including bowls crafted from human skulls and a lampshade made from the skin of someone’s face.
Scream (1996)
The classic ‘90s slasher flick uses dark humor to tell the story of a group of teens and a mystery man named Ghostface who wants to murder them. But the real story ain’t funny. The movie was inspired by the Gainesville Ripper, real name Danny Rolling, who killed five Florida students by knife over a span of three days in August 1990.
The Conjuring (2013)
The movie stars Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga as ghost hunters helping out a family in a haunted 18th-century farmhouse. The hunters, Ed and Lorraine Warren, are real people, as is the Perron family that they assist. Lorraine was a consultant on the movie and insists that many of the supernatural horrors really happened, and one of the daughters who is depicted in the film, Andrea Perron, says the same. She recalled an angry spirit named Bathsheba to USA Today:“Whoever the spirit was, she perceived herself to be mistress of the house and she resented the competition my mother posed for that position.”
Annabelle (2014)
The creepy porcelain doll from The Conjuring gets her terror on in this spin-off of The Conjuring. The ghost-hunting Warrens have claimed that there was a real Raggedy Ann doll that moved by itself and wrote creepy-ass notes saying things like, “Help us.” The woman who owned it contacted a medium, who claimed that it was possessed by a seven-year-old girl named Annabelle who had died there.
The Disappointments Room (2016)
Kate Beckinsale stars in the movie as an architect who moves to a new home with a mysterious room in the attic that she eventually learns was previously used as a room where rich people would cast off disabled children. It was reportedly inspired by a Rhode Island woman who discovered a similar room in her house that she says was built by a 19th century judge to lock away his disabled daughter.
The Exorcist (1973)
Two priests attempt to remove a demon from a young girl in this box office smash. The movie was based on a 1949 Washington Post article with the headline “Priest Frees Mt. Rainier Boy Reported Held in Devil’s Grip.” Director William Friedkin spoke about the article to Time Out London: “Maybe one day they’ll discover the cause of what happened to that young man, but back then, it was only curable by an exorcism. His family weren’t even Catholics, they were Lutheran. They started with doctors and then psychiatrists and then psychologists and then they went to their minister who couldn’t help them. And they wound up with the Catholic church. The Washington Post article says that the boy was possessed and exorcised. That’s pretty out on a limb for a national newspaper to put on its front page… You’re not going to see that on the front page of an intelligent newspaper unless there’s something there.
The Girl Next Door (2007)
The movie follows the abuse of a teenage girl at the hands of her aunt, and it was inspired by the murder of Sylvia Likens in 1965. The 16-year-old girl was abused by her caregiver, Gertrude Baniszewski, Baniszewski’s children, and other neighborhood children, as entertainment. They ultimately killed her, with the cause of death determined as “brain swelling, internal hemorrhaging of the brain, and shock induced by Sylvia’s extensive skin damage,”
The Possession (2012)
Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Kyra Sedgwick star in the movie as a couple with a young daughter who becomes fascinated with an antique wooden box found at a yard sale. Of course, the box turns out to be home to a spirit. The flick’s “true story” basis came from an eBay listing for “a haunted Jewish wine cabinet box” containing oddities such as two locks of hair, one candlestick, and an evil spirit that caused supernatural activity. The box sold for $280 and gained attention when a Jewish newspaper ran an article about its so-called powers.
The Rite (2011)
In The Rite, a mortician enrolls in seminary and eventually takes an exorcism class in Rome, where demonic encounters ensue. The movie was based on the life of a real exorcist, Father Gary Thomas, whose work was the focus of journalist Matt Baglio’s book The Rite: The Making of an Exorcist. A Roman Catholic priest, Thomas was one of 14 Vatican-certified exorcists working in America in 2011. He served as an advisor on the film and told The Los Angeles Times that in the previous four years he had exorcised five people.
The Sacrament (2013)
In the movie, a man travels to find his sister who joined a remote religious commune, where, yep, bad things happen. It was inspired by the 1978 Jonestown massacre, in which cult leader Jim Jones led 909 of his followers to partake in a “murder-suicide ceremony” using cyanide poisoning.
The Shining (1980)
Stanley Kubrick’s horror masterpiece is about a man who is driven to insanity by supernatural forces while staying at a remote hotel in the Rockies. The movie Derives from Stephen King’s book of the same name, which was inspired by the Stanley Hotel in Colorado, where plenty of guests have reported seeing ghosts. The Stanley wasn’t actually used in the movie, however, because Kubrick didn’t think it looked scary enough.
The Silence of the Lambs(1991)
The Oscar-winning film tells the story of an FBI cadet who enlists the help of a cannibal/serial killer to pin down another serial killer, Buffalo Bill, who skins the bodies of his victims. FBI special agent John Douglas, who consulted on the film, has explained that Bill was inspired in part by the serial killer Ted Bundy, who like Bill, wore a fake cast. Ed Gein is also believed to be an inspiration, what with the whole skinning thing. And per Rolling Stone, 1980s killer Gary Heidnik was a reference for how Buffalo Bill kept victims in a basement pit.
The Strangers (2008)
Three killers in masks terrorize the suburban home of a couple (played by Liv Tyler and Scott Speedman) in this invasion thriller. Writer-director Bryan Bertino has said the film was inspired by something that happened to him in childhood. “As a kid, I lived in a house on a street in the middle of nowhere. One night, while our parents were out, somebody knocked on the front door and my little sister answered it,” he said. “At the door were some people asking for somebody that didn’t live there. We later found out that these people were knocking on doors in the area and, if no one was home, breaking into the houses.”
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974 & 2003)
Ed Gein also reportedly inspired elements of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and its remake. The movies are about groups of friends who come into contact with the murderous cannibal Leatherface. The original film memorably features a room filled with furniture created from human bones, a nod to Gein’s home.
The Town That Dreaded Sundown (1976 & 2014)
The original film follows a Texas Ranger as he tracks down a serial killer threatening a small town, and the 2014 sequel of the same name essentially revives the same plot. Both are based on the Texarkana Moonlight Murders of 1946, when a “Phantom Killer” took out five people over ten weeks. The case remains unsolved
Veronica (2018)
The recent Netflix release follows a 15-year-old girl who uses a Ouija board and accidentally connects with a demon that terrorizes her and her family. The movie’s based on a real police report from a Madrid neighborhood. As the story goes, a girl performed a séance at school and then “experienced months of seizures and hallucinations, particularly of shadows and presences surrounding her,” according to NewsWeek. The police report came a year after the girl’s death when three officers and the Chief Inspect of the National Police reported several unnatural occurrences at her family’s home that they called “a situation of mystery and rarity.”
