Hiya Chicken, hope all is well with you! Something’s been on my mind and I would love your perspective.

The thrust of it is: can the will of the universe (if there is such a thing) override spellwork?

For context, I lost my job earlier this year, and have been working some magic to get re-employed (along with a metric shit ton of mundane legwork). None of it has been fruitful, and in attempting to troubleshoot, I realized that several of my spells had conditions along the lines of “this new job will serve my highest and best self.”

I’m still a novice at casting – frankly, I’ve not had much success with *any* magic (😞) – so I’m guessing the more immediately pertinent issue has to do with raising power/magical headspace. But, I’m curious if that nebulous “highest and best” would get in the way of producing results.

Also, where exactly does that language originate?? I think I’ve seen it when people talk about petitioning the universe for guidance, or getting in touch with your purpose/path in this life, but is that from a certain tradition or set of beliefs? And if everyone has a pre-determined purpose (or something else that counts as becoming your highest and best self), would including such a statement cause spells to fail if whatever you’re casting for doesn’t align with that purpose? Because real talk, my unemployment has run out and I don’t have time to wait for the highest and best job any more.

What is your highest good? Because I kind of feel like you shouldn't leave that up to a nebulous force you don't understand. My guy, and I mean this in the best possible way, you don't even know the widely popular faith (New Age) these beliefs are coming from. I don't think you understand this concept of The Universe; and yet you seem to be willing to place your fate in its hands.

And I think you may also be horrified by the realization that you are ceding autonomy of your ambitions, your goals, your needs, even the very core of your morality, to some fucking Power or Presence or whatever.

What is your highest good? I'm sorry, I mean this genuinely - you do not get to let someone else decide that for you. We all have to read some philosophy and smoke weed and look at the stars with friends and decide for ourselves what it means to be a good person who lives well. Many of us will grapple with this our entire lives.

There is no shortcut. You can't be your best self by doing whatever you want and delegating the decision making to some outside force, hoping that a smarter and more benevolent power will just cancel out any bad decisions you make based on a rubric you don't understand.

If we do have Highest Selves and soul evolution, I do not believe we can evolve based on always letting someone else make the final call for us.

YOU CAN HAVE GUIDANCE. You can have help. You can have plenty of it!!

That's what the witch's familiar is for. That's what tutelary spirits are for. That's why so many people turn to gods for guidance. You can research someone, or ask for a specific kind of help, and say, "hi I want to cast a job spell but I don't know sorcery great, can someone help me craft this so that I don't end up doing something disastrous?"

That's what I do all the time! I'll be about to do some stupid shit about twice a week, but the spirits who love me and help me are like, "Hey! please do not do that sweaty :) That would be Bad," and I listen to them, because they are not nebulous faraway forces; they are my very good friends whom I have known for years and trust completely.

But at the end of the day, they can't make decisions for you. A very creepy truth, that I believe is actually true, is that gods and spirits of Witchcraft will not make decisions for you. They will not cancel out spells if it's not in your "highest good." They will let you do anything you want in your own worst interest.

They will help you and they will guide you. But it's like I said: you can't end up being your best self by doing whatever and hoping someone else picks up the slack.

I don't think it's possible to ever achieve any highest good or best self by never making an actual decision.

And that's what it is, I think. That's what it is when you say, "let me have a job if someone else thinks it's a good idea."

That's not your decision. That's not your choice. That's not your power. That's raising your hand in the back of class and hoping teacher will call on you.

Fuck the Universe. Fuck the highest good. How about some of that live deliciously shit? When do YOU get to eat? Your highest self must be stuffed at the table of delicacies harvested from every moment of your life that you sacrifice to it while you are here with your unemployment run out.

Look in The Universe's eye and tell it to start calling you daddy.

Command. Do not ask, do not intend. Force; compel. Dominate.

next I visualize that the candle is full of prosperous energies if Earth-Goddess wills it in my highest good- NO.

Stellar: Very flustered and wondering if it is a joke. She's never been confessed to before and wouldn't know how to respond! She might make an excuse to leave to avoid embarrassing herself further. 😂

Camellia: Has been confessed to numerous times and knows how to deal with it with dignity. She is very aloof with men and is quick to nip any attraction to her in the bud. She would be far more flustered if a pretty girl confessed to her, though!

Thistle: His sister is the one always having suitors chase her around, so he would be DELIGHTED to have someone confess to him!! Being the young prince, he is often overlooked or overshadowed. He's quite the romantic at heart and often dreams of what his future partner might be like!

Jasper: He'd be very amused and would love the attention. He's a total playboy, so he eats shit like that up! If he found the person attractive, he might even entertain a date or two to see if they click. No promises for anything long-term, though!

Jade: Very chill. Would thank the confessor for the sentiment and would even go on a date with them if prompted. Kind of unintentionally a heartbreaker because she treats everyone with the same level of interest. It is very hard to tell if she likes someone more than the usual amount, or if that is just how she is!

Calico: Would be quite touched that someone had feelings for them, and would certainly try to reciprocate, if possible. They recognize how hard it is to put yourself out there and would do their best to give the person a chance!

Mirage: Oh, man. Good luck to anyone brave enough to confess to this jackass. He'd probably just say, "You have good taste," accept the flowers or chocolates and walk off. 💀 I think the only way someone would be successful in wooing Mirage is if they were someone that managed to get close to him first.

Serene: VERY FLUSTERED. Would turn red as a beet and try to hide her face. She might accidentally send the confessor flying with telekinesis, which would make her want to sink into the ground and disappear. 😂

Void: He would smirk and accept whatever offering of affection given, his eyes lacking any real light in them. He just assumes it is natural for someone to be attracted to him and cannot imagine any other specimen being able to compete with him. He believes it is logical to desire someone powerful as a mate, and who out there is better than he? That being said, whether he actually reciprocates is entirely determined by what he could get out of the person confessing.

Andromeda: Absolutely gobsmacked. She would have no idea how to react! She would be both happy to be receiving such attention, and horrified because she has no idea how to respond. She might end up sending the person confessing to her flying just to get out of the situation. That being said, she is a lesbian, and while she might enjoy having that kind of attention regardless of gender, she would only ever reciprocate those feelings to another woman.

Polarity: He would think that the person confessing to him was somehow put up to it or trying to prank him. If he was convinced the person was serious, he would be a floundering mess. Like, "Are you sure?" and "ME? You really want ME?". Once he got over the hurdle of his own self-esteem, he'd be really happy someone wanted him that way, regardless if he reciprocated those feelings or not.

What is Queen Serenity like in your AU? Is she responsible for her daughter's evil ways and the invasion of her kingdom?

Well Serenity II is an actual clone of her. So. Yeah lmao.

As for a more detailed explanation, Serenity was originally a Senshi under the name of Sailor Lactis, originating from the same "insignificant" system as Galaxia and roughly as old as her. THIS IS THE PERFECT CHANCE TO SHOW HER DESIGN ACTUALLY SO THANKS LMAO.

In fact, Lactis and Galaxia had a fight, which Lactis soundly won, but spared Galaxia in the hopes of one day "measuring up to her". She was a vagabond through space, until she once found herself in our system. A comet had arrived, trying to take over it by force, but Lactis decided this was a golden opportuniy and presented herself as their savior, sending the comet elsewhere, gaining their trust and their following. The current Sailor Moon, Queen Nehellenia, allowed her to stay in her kingdom, from which she slowly but surely got the rest of the planets under her will.

All but 3 - Pluto, Saturn and the Earth.

Pluto allied herself with Lactis (who then started to use the name Serenity), but she never became a vassal of hers, and Serenity never pushed it either, her power over time being useful.

Saturn saw her true colors and rebeled, becoming a prisoner in her own planet and kept dormant until "her powers" were required.

Earth similarly rejected her but never fully rebeled, and having the protection of the former Sailor Sun as well as their own Senshi, Serenity simply let them be, cutting off contact with them.

Time passed, the other Senshi reincarnated and became her devout followers, mere children her faithful soldiers.

Then she realized that she needed to ensure some sort of legacy, if something were to happen to her.

She found the Cauldron, and created herself a child, its Star Seed fused with her Milky Crystal, essentially cloning herself. This was Serenity II, with the caveat that her connection to her Crystal was diluted to the point that, were the worst happen, she would simply join the aether that formed her, no chance of revival.

Nehellenia took her chance and tried to rally her followers, wanting to regain her kingdom stolen from her. Serenity, though weakened, was still strong enough to seal Nehellenia in a mirror, with the idea of somehow taking her Sailor Crystal to fuse it with her own, making herself and her daughter stronger. She never got around to doing that, however.

She was THE biggest hater of Serenity and Endymion being together, believing her daughter to be weak enough to fall for someone beneath her.

And then war broke out. The Solar System Senshi (from Mercury to Neptune, even Vulcan and Nemesis) against Beryl and the Earth, aided with Metallia's power. Endymion dying by his own planet's hand. Venus felling Beryl personally. Serenity, looking at her dead love, grabbing his sword to join him in the abyss.

Oh, Lactis won alright, killed all stragglers in her rage, both kingdoms in ruin.

Metallia was faster than her. Serenity I could only seal her away, and wished that the future for everyone would be better.

Then Saturn came.

"Goodbye, Lactis. Enjoy the Silence for all of us."

Pluto watched, from the distance, looking into the possible futures, and felt for all the people that will have to continue the tragedy.

Hi dear Mar ♥️ thank you for the lovely ask!

My idea of their wedding is more vibes than anything, but it'll be very romantic: many roses in all shades between white and bright pink, fairy lights all over the place for when it gets dark, a wedding arc decorated with flowers and, of course, all the people they hold close.

I imagine it to be outside, on a field near the forest or maybe on Wayhaven's central Green. Yael suggests they do it in a clearing, but Nate puts a stop to that idea, because of how impractical it would be with the uneven ground. (And also because he prefers not having to worry about his suit snatching on branches of nearby bushes while getting to the location)

Yael's dress will be broken white with embroidery of green vines and rosebuds. I'm thinking of ithe embroidery being on sheer, see-through fabric, but don't have a very concrete picture in mind. Maybe something with a veil?

Unfortunately my mother's health has declined since my father's passing, so I've taken on the responsibility of being her caregiver. I do think of this acc, not daily, but fairly often because a piece of me is still here 🤗💜 I'd love to bring this back, life just has other plans for me atm.
