i love watching onboards, and here's some interesting things ive noticed from max's onboards in austria fp1/2 (no gp :(( miss him) all casual observations tho dont take them too seriously

max is much quieter but also much more micro-managy with simon than gp. like with gp he's always a bit bratty a bit chatty a bit complainy but with simon he was very quiet, only giving feedback when prompted directly

like i saw someone comment that max didn't complain about the brakes when usually hes complaining 24/7 and that meant the brakes were good, However max went off track a few times with lockups in the hard braking zones and you KNOW he would have been complaing to gp about brake issues every time, but because its simon he keeps quiet (im sure he'll mention it later to the engineers)

conversely when giving feedback for gp he usually simply says "car understeering" or "turn 1 feels bad" and that's it. with simon he'd go "car understeering, front wing issues, want to adjust by three clicks, box this lap" or "issues in turn 4 with front steering, want to go plus 3 on bball" like he's making all the technical decisions himself when usually he'd let gp make them for him

also at one point simon was talking a lot, saying like "leclerc is coming in 5, then kimi, leclerc is low fuel, kimi high, leclerc is now 3, kimi is 8, behind him bearman, clear behind, i would let kimi and bearman by in turn 8, then you can go next lap--" and max, silently, put recharge off and directly went for a hot lap, and simon instantly went "--uh or you can turn recharge off and go now if you wish" and then went quiet LMAOO you just know if it was gp max wouldve straight up told him to shup up (No Talking In The Braking Mate Please) but because its someone else he 'politely' ignored them and did what he wanted instead

its so funny too bc max is so used to hearing "kimi 5" and is now instead getting "kimi is running high fuel, he's 5 seconds behind, will be coming up on you in turn 7, recommend you let him past on turn 8, then after him--" and i am suure he is lowkey losing his mind lmaoo

for the record !!!!! this isn't a crticism of simon its just different comm styles for diff people everyone has their own preferences etc etc

but fr you can feel how much max trusts and likes gp, and it shows an interesting aspect to max's personality in how he acts towards people he's truly close to and comfortable with

knows all the grammar rules in the world. you can ask him stuff like “hey wonwoo can i put a comma here or no” and he'll amble over to peer over your shoulder and tell you whether you can or cannot, in fact, put a comma there. helps you curate all your writing playlists for the different moods you have. gently reminds you to get back to writing whenever you end up scrolling on instagram for too long

you're even more of a workaholic than he is when in the zone, so he gets to realise how unhealthy it is to be sat in front of a computer for hours straight with no break. you get to act as each other's “let's act like a normal human being now” reminders, depending on which of you is going through a work fixation. you guys both go on runs together in the mornings even though it kills you bc at least it gets both of yo brains kickstarted to spend a day being all creative in ur respective fields

you value his opinion above anyone else's. above your beta reader's, above your agent's, even above your editor's bc those are more like advice, not opinions. but knowing that minghao likes your work, and knowing which parts in particular he really likes, is so important to you because ultimately, you want the person you love to also love the things that you create.

more than willing to be your rubber duck and let you talk at him until u figure out your own plot holes. he could be in his room scrolling on his phone but the minute you call for him, he's leaping up and bounding over to you and pulling up a chair in an instant, more than willing to let you bounce ideas off him. sits there doing nothing but looking all pretty as you talk at him and work out the tangle you've gotten yourself into. beams and gives you a big kiss when you manage to figure it all out.

reads through your drafts whilst you're in the middle of writing, accidentally gets hooked and is begging you every day to finish the novel bc he really wants to know what happens next. he's the best at spotting inconsistencies and plot holes in ur writing so before you even send it off to your beta reader, he gets to have his hands on the manuscript to check for any changes needed. also bc he needs to read the ending asap otherwise he'll probably combust.

Omg, nonnie, I could go ON about how different yet the same these two are with each other. Body language is absolutely everything with Max and Charles, though I'm sure everyone knows this. Max's yapping isn't everything.

Honestly, I genuinely believe with my heart of hearts that Max has an actual crush on Charles, there is, and it sounds like a joke but I'm being serious, no heterosexual reason for him to act the way he does around him. (This is coming from an aromantic, so it's not like I'm seeing something that's not there.)

I've made a post before about how I think some of these guys are not straight but bc of how F1 is built on dodgy sponsors(BIG MONEY) and can't forget the corrupt FIA, they can't just say it. That's a whole other can of worms I won't get into rn tho.

Anyway – the way I see is that Charles absolutely, without an ounce of doubt, knows Max has a crush on him. Like the OP mentioned in their post, how Charles' Christmas gift to Max was the F1 game with all of Charles' face on it, with the tag "for my biggest fan." Yeah, he knows. And he encourages it.

And not to say Charles doesn't crush as hard on Max as Max does on him, Charles absolutely does. He just tries to be nonchalant about it. But his giggles fail him every time Max opens his mouth.

I think the joint Vegas interview is a good example of this. Charles tries to be serious with Max but Max is clearly doing his damnest to make Charles laugh, which obviously, Charles does. Once again, the way Charles looks at Max in this, he knows Max is trying to make him laugh too. (Max also literally quoted Charles' joke from an interview that he wasn't even in, meaning Max WATCHED it in his own time.)

THIS ONE REALLY GETS ME, MAN. Max and Charles look at each other, Max lingers longer on him and Charles ???? Starts touching himself ???? Like he still thinks Max is looking at him??????? Max looks off to a screen that's on them AND LOOKS AT CHARLES AGAIN BC HES ACTING THAT WAY?? WEIRDOS.

Charles wants to be nonchalant and chill so bad but he's not slick. He's just as down bad as Max is and thinks we don't see it.

you had always known your boyfriend liked sweet things. the first time you had met satoru, he was munching on some sort of candy. his friends, students, everyone knew. so.. you wanted to try and be a good partner; attempting to bake something for him.

lord now knows you're terrible at baking, and you won't try again.

because it's your fourth try at baking cookies for him, and so far you've failed by forgetting the flour, not placing them further away on the pan causing them to stick together, burning them- you've done everything you could to fuck up these cookies.

you could just watch a tutorial. easy enough, right? well you've watched the same video over and over again, having the urge to punch your phone at the random males voice instructing you for what feels like the tenth time. you could call megumi? he could help. maybe.

a click at the door makes you freeze at the garbage can, having just thrown out your fourth- fifth batch of cookies? you've lost count. you hurriedly shut the garbage, trying to clean up the kitchen and yourself the most you can in only a few seconds, which isn't a lot, but why not try?

satoru shuffles in, looking around a bit for you, hearing you moving around and clinking stuff in the kitchen. "..hun, what're you doing?" he asks, walking over to the kitchen and staring you down as you stand next to the garbage, a complete mess, probably. you haven't had time to look at yourself, just an assumption from the way he's staring down at you and obviously trying not to laugh.

"..nothing at all!" you say, looking over at your boyfriend with a bubbly smile on your face to attempt to distract him from whatever you just threw out, and the burning smell coursing around the house. "you sure?" he questions, tilting his head a bit to the side. you nod, looking into his eyes- well, blindfold- with that same smile on your face. satoru giggles a bit at you, walking over to you.

"two questions. one, why does it smell like a house fire in here? and two, why are you trying so desperately to hide the trash?" he asks, looking down at you. you look up at him. "tried to bake for you, obviously didn't go as planned," you sigh. "stupid dude who's tutorial i was watching didn't make any sense." satoru lets out a small laugh, smiling down at you with that cheeky grin of his.

"you don't gotta bake me anything, you're enough yourself. plus, i don't want you burning down the house.." he mumbles, making you softly punch his arm. "in all seriousness tho, you could've called megumi. he's a pretty good baker, somewhat good of a cook. if you wanna learn how to bake, give him a call."

you nod, still smiling up at him. he leans down and gives you a small peck on the lips, leaning back up to stare back down at you. "please don't try baking again without someone else. it smelled like there was a fire, i thought you burned the house down. smelled like it, at least." satoru says, still looking down at you. you pout up at him, flicking his forehead.

the_most_happy: love how emotional their work can be! they have smut and fluff works, and most of all—which i think the the most delicious one, is the way they write angst <3 I actually made a bunch of fanart for their fics/aus when I was just getting into the fandom :3 They're writing is like going into a spicy sexy emotinal adventure... idk how else to describe it xD my fav fic of theirs... augh so hard to choose... In Loving Memory caught me so off guard (cuz i forgot to read the tags and immediately dived into it the moment i saw their post about it hhhh)

forest_racoon: The fluff and softness and magic in their writing is so good! I love the energy and comedy and seriousness and everything in their writing! it's always so fun to pick up any of their works~ Don't be tricked tho,, the angst they deliver have the same gravity ToT it's just so... augh... I first found them through Plate :( and have reread it several times (please check out their other works too it's all so amazing!!)

devilrin: love how she writes. period. the emotions and the poetic energy of it?? the angst?? so. good. the skk energy in their writing is more mellow(?) it feels more realistic—it's like watching people instead of characters ;w; (very cool how she world builds an entire life outside of her fic for her characters actually, got to witness the behind the scenes first hand myself its pretty insane to me) The fic that ruined me tho is Down to a Sunless Sea (which is so angsty im so--)

themadtree: The energy in their writing is just so amazing. it's very hard to stop mid-way! The dialogue feels very fun and engaging and you really get very attached to the characters because of how energetic and full of life they are. Whimsical is the best word I can think of to describe the reading experience of their work :3 They made a bunch of fun aus; their brain is just so amazing (pirate au and avatar au like broooooo) My favorite is Mors Vincit Omnia (yummy pirate au!)

StarshipDancer: one of the first ao3 writers whose name i decided to remember by heart (which means a lot considering how bad i am with names) because they are my most searched user in ao3 xD The fluff is just so addicting. The sillies and shenanegans are so on point for me, idk it just scratch this itch so perfectly in my brain. I draw a of inspiration from my skk sketches from their works actually :3!! READ EVERYTHING THEY HAVE PLS ITS ALL SO GOOD (you should check the fluff week collection augh) Without Words is one of my most reread ones... I think... I reread a lot of their works tho...

setosdarkness: let's be honest. i think everyone whose dived into ao3 skk just knows her alreayd xD she's such a kween for that, making sure we are so well fed with so much fun skk writing. Her works are so fun to read! Very comedic and has such similar energy to the gag moments and bickering and shenanigans of the anime skk for me idk why. I love how fun and unique each fic scenarios are :3 (no srsly you'll never run out of food made with so much love by athina-san)

xLillyle: I am working with Lilly for a Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood skk au!! (its Royai skk BUT it's also beast!skk) it's been so exciting to work with her :3!! You can check some of the teasers here. She made an iwaoi!skk fic recently so if that's you're type hehe *starts bawling*

Ada leans up against the wooden door frame as I climb into my truck three hours later, after I have the privilege of putting Rome to bed. My chest is warm from the single glass of whiskey I've had and the memory of Rome hugging me tight and thanking me for the hat, which was hung proudly on his bedpost at the end of the bed.

Ada wraps her silk robe tighter around herself as she watches me head for my truck. The robe is black, reaching her mid thigh and matching the silk nightgown that she had on underneath that, similarly to her gown, barely covered anything. Something she’d ‘conveniently’ changed into when I was putting our son to bed, as she made a stupid attempt to try something right at the final buzzer.

But it hadn’t worked—or, rather foolishly, it worked in some kind of capacity. My body might have ‘risen to the occasion’, but I’d be able to rectify it soon enough without her input. And it had been kind of amusing to see Ada scoff slightly when I told her such a thing.

She still has to get in the last word though, as I shut my truck door and turn on the ignition.

“Say hello to Dee for me! Tell her she was missed here!” Ada calls out, voice dripping with attitude and condescension that makes me bite back a groan. I wait for Ada to go back inside before taking out the phone that’s been burning a hole in my pocket, checking my messages.

Dee had texted me at around eight, saying that she had finished up with dinner and that she was thinking of me. I smile to myself, wondering what she could be doing right now—it’s ten o’clock at night.

Would everyone be in bed already? Would she be waiting up for me?

I feel myself swell at the thought of her waiting. After the day I’d had, I throb with the urge to see her. To hold her, to be near her, to remind myself of her. Even though I’d been with her damn near every night this week, it still doesn't feel like enough for me. I feel like I’m an addict.

Shit, I am an addict.

And she’s my drug.

I can only hope this shit wouldn't come back to bite me in the ass one day. I blow a raspberry, sighing gently before typing out a text.

Me: Is the coast clear?

That’s our phrase. I grin just thinking about it, imagining her in her room waiting for me—or perhaps she’d been daring enough to sneak over to wait for me in my bed, lying beneath my sheets and rubbing herself all over them.

I groan at the thought, shifting to accommodate my growing erection which thumped like a kickdrum against my zipper. Ada’s words sink into my mind—her accusations—and my eyebrows furrow at the memory of them.

What does a forty-six year old guy want with some girl in her twenties, if he isn't chasing after his golden years?

I’m not chasing after anything. I don't want to be so into her—I tell myself that every day, that I should have been smarter, that I should have stayed away from her and maintained something strictly professional instead of trying to be friendly.

But when she looks at me like that, and she smiles at me like she does. When her eyes go wide and doe-like for me, when that cute little blush appears on her cheeks, I feel like I’m lost. Lost within her, lost within this feeling.

Maybe that's what I’m chasing—the feeling. The feeling of being wanted. The feeling of being needed.

My phone chimes, breaking through my train of thought. I pick up my phone, the smile already tugging at my lips as I read her reply.

Dee: Coast is clear. Grandpa went to bed early, Dad and Danny are doing a road trip to some beef supplier’s conference thing. I wasn't really paying attention at lunch earlier. Either way, house is quiet. Want me to head over?

I hum thoughtfully, doing what I’ve done every time we ask this question to each other—asking if the coast’s clear, that is. I weigh my options, pro and con it.

On the pro side, I’d get to see her tonight. I'd get to wake up next to her tomorrow, and if we’re early enough, have time for a quickie. Not that it was wise of me to be doing quickies at my age with the job I keep, but she seems to love it, so anything for that little sunshine of mine.

As a con, we run the risk of getting caught. Then again, we usually always do. Since the cattle drive event, there have been a few instances where we’ve been overheard—nothing too bad, and I manage to lie my way out of it, but the thrill is getting a little too much to chase nowadays—

Who the fuck was I kidding.

I start typing out a response, about to tell her to get her ass over there and wait for me, but then an idea hits me. For all the times she has come to me, I have never once gone to her—for obvious fucking reasons.

But maybe we could swing it. Just one night—to try something new? The idea lodges into my brain, the thought of sneaking into her bed like a dirty little secret, climbing in through the window like that prince in Rapunzel.

A smirk tips up on my lips as my thumbs fly across the screen.

Me: Still an hour out. See you soon. Wait for me.

I toss my phone onto the passenger seat and then pull out of the drive, throwing my arm across the back to back out before turning and rumbling through the quiet suburban streets onto the main road that would carry me out of town and onto the highway.

Getting onto the highway, I find myself practically gunning it. Thankfully, there aren't that many cars on the road—we’d gone well past peak times, and whilst I’m not breaking any laws, this whole drive feels very quick, as I crank up my stereo and hummed along to Nickelback’s ‘Photograph’, remembering that first drive in my truck where Dee and I sang along to all kinds of songs.

Remembering her face that day, the laugh she’d had let out as she sang off-key with the wind in her hair and the sun shining on her skin, makes my chest feel warm. It had made my heart swell, seeing her so carefree—and perhaps being the cause of that, as at the time we had been listening to whatever songs came on my stereo, rather than on her playlist.

And, as I would come to find out, we have the exact same taste in music—barring a few artists, but, as of recently I’ve come to enjoy them too. But if you were to catch me humming along to Whitney Houston or Celine Dion, I’ll deny it until the cows come home.

A low sigh whooshes out of me as I turn down the gravel driveway leading up to Hartwell Ranch—Amantes Ranch, according to the wooden sign that hangs up at the front of the drive, but I've gotten so used to calling it Hartwell Ranch that I can’t see myself stopping.

I’m sure Dee’s ancestors are fine with it, though. I’ll get it eventually, I’m sure—but tonight I don't give a shit. I’m just happy to be home, pulling up in front of the main house and turning off my truck.

All the lights within the log cabin-style ranch house are off, save for the porch light that’s always on and the light in the second window from the edge of the porch, those dark blinds instantly recognisable to me—I’m the one who had put them up, after all.

I find myself grinning again as I get out of the truck, being sure to grab my phone—and one of my glovebox condoms, because it always pays to be prepared—before shutting the truck door as quietly as I can. I then give myself a minute to look at that window, trying to imagine what she was doing in there.

I have the image of her in my head of her propped up in bed like Kate Winslet in ‘Titanic’, posing for Jack Dawson. She’d be naked like Kate, her sheets draped around her hips but showing off the masses of skin that my mouth is already watering over as I creep towards that window, wishing I had x-ray vision right now so that I could see inside—

Damn. I really was a fucking pervert.

I snag a tiny white chip of gravel from the ground, rolling the tiny pebble between my thumb and forefinger before whipping it at the window. The pebble bounces off of the thick glass with a low thunk before falling into the bushes outside of her window, making the leaves rustle.

I haven't done this in years—probably back in high school, that’s how juvenile this whole thing is.

in all seriousness tho ive been rotating the concept of a darkfic in my mind for who knows how long atp and i saw neo and decided who better a blorbo to torture? like in my own words "i cant fix neo in a million years but i want to study him under a microscope and dissect his fucked up little head & bake him cookies".

the fic is essentially a character study of neo among other characters (the mc is an oc bc its her character study just as much as it is neos. they ae two sides of the smae ptsd coin and i want to explore that. like in heavy deeply disturbing detail lol) with sprinkles of fuckall lol

now as u may know i get distracted and sidetracked by just about everything so not even a quarter way through i was like okay spinoff fic. let me finish lmao;

you may know from my 'important people' post that Gavin is "the guy S.K. is trying to get me to fuck"

basically s.k. (my friend from drama class) was trying to set me up with her friend and i was kinda iffy abt it because at first i wasn't rly looking for anything and then when it got brought up again s.k. was saying how he was trying to find someone to hook up with. so all in all not really selling it ykwim

anyway

s.k. invites me to her house for a Diwali celebration and i'm all for it and she let's me know ahead of time that this guy is coming and im not that fussed

now keep in mind in my head at this point this guy is just some weirdo creep who's tryna fuck someone

i get to s.k's house the day of the party and i'm there early with a few other girls and we're all getting ready and borrowing s.k.'s clothes cause we don't have any traditional indian clothes. after we all get ready and we go out into the living room Gavin and s.k's boyfriend both show up. Gavin and i have talked maybe one time over snap but never rly properly. we don't rly talk much at first bc...i'm socially awkward and also HOW TF DO I TALK TO SOME DUDE WHO JUST WANTS TO SMASH LIKE TF??

as the night goes on we all play truth or dare and s.k. being well...s.k. dares me and Gavin to kiss....thanks for that bestie worst most embarrassing moment of my life....

ANYWAY so that happens it's a tiny peck and btw MY FIRST KISS and everyone moves on no biggie

we all go down (she lives in a condo) and to the grounds where the pool and playground and everything is and we do sparklers and shit and it's all fun we're all having a good time

we also have a random ass football down there don't ask me why and mf nutmegs me. like how rude.

anyway so this happens twice and me and him are basically just trying to nutmeg each other and there's a little flirting action going on and it's a little cutesy. i also end up nutmegging him twice too just btw

so there's like a bit of flirting action but i'm not taking anything that seriously bc at this point i don't think he likes me at all and we barely even know each other

as the night goes on everybody starts leaving and s.k. asks me to have a sleepover which obvi i say yes to and it ends up being just me, her and Gavin bc he's leaving latest out of everybody. so we're all tired but s.k. is exhausted so she's switching between falling asleep, scrolling on her phone and beating up Gavin (they have a VERY boy/girl bestie relationship where it's fr just like siblings beating each other up and pissing each other off yk?) and i'm just chilling enjoying the entertainment really tbh

i end up with a pillow on my lap and he's sitting on the floor next to me while s.k. sits on her bed and he decides to put his head on my lap where the pillow is and i just start playing with his hair bc what the fuck else am i supposed to do?

s.k. is trying to get us to kiss so she messages me being like "kiss him" and i reply saying "he has to make the first move i can't do that shit idk WHO you think i am"

so s.k.'s trying to start up conversations and asks when everybody's first kiss was. she says 13, he says around 15 and i say 17. s.k. looks at me and is like "recently?" to which i nod and then she says "when?" and i give her a look that I THOUGHT meant "catch on and be quiet pls" but she didn't get that so she says fairly loudly and very shocked "today????"

yes babes my first kiss was today are you just determined to embarrass me??

so his head is ON MY LAP and he looks up at me with an expression that is all surprise, shock, 'oh shit' and a little proud. and then he proceeds to grab my hand with one of his and grab my forearm with his other hand (gently) and is all like "i didn't know that" (yeah no shit)

and she's all "awww you were her first kiss how sweet. oh i made your first kiss truth or dare im sorry. Gavin you should make it up to her *wink wink*"

and i'm sitting there embarrassed out of my mind i acct wanna off myself bc this is so embarrassing.

the night goes on and we're all chilling, me and him are still holding hands all throughout the night and he does that 'hand comparison, ur hand is so tiny' type thing and i am folding and then internally scolding myself cause 'get ur shit together you cannot fold over something SO clique' (apparently i can actually it was pretty easy)

and eventually s.k. starts packing up and he gets a car (uber, lyft, grab, gojec, whatever it is you all call it bc there are too many different ones) and it's like 10 minutes away so we're chilling and s.k. doesn't want any help cleaning up

him and i are standing next to each other holding hands and just chilling really and s.k. leaves the room to go clear out some plates and all of a sudden (not like pouncing all of a sudden like i wasn't expecting this all of a sudden) he puts his hands on my waist and pulls me closer and i'm staring at this mans chest bc PANICKING and he kisses me and half of me is thinking "i'm being properly kissed yay" and the other half is thinking "how tf do i do this"

and we pull away and i'm someone who NEEDS physical affectionate reassurance after doing something LIKE THAT and so i wrap my arms around his shoulders (tbf they were already there) and he reciprocates SO FAST and wraps his arms around my waist and i just like chill there for a moment trying to process and s.k. walks back in and after a second or two we pull away from the hug and i'm holding one of his hands and my other hand is just like tracing up and down his arm absentmindedly while i process and every now and then my head drops onto his shoulder/chest

his car gets like two minutes away so we're all like "u should head down now" and so s.k. leaves the room again and he kisses me again and says "maybe i'll see you next weekend?" and i say yeah obviously

so he leaves and i tell s.k. everything that happened and she's so happy

and then he starts messaging her

and going "her lips are so soft" "she was such a good kisser" "her smile is so cute" "she's so cute" "i wanna make it special for her" (in context of if we were to progress physically) "if we were to do anything i'd make sure to take it slow and take care of her" "she's so beautiful"

and s.k.'s telling me how he DOESN'T get this way over girls a lot and so this is a bit of a "eeeeeee" moment and im DYING bc HOW COULD I NOT BE

anyway so we talked a bit the next day

and it was slay

oh and also

this guy is m.m.'s ex bf

from like four years ago

and when m.m. and i posted a tiktok on her acct

s.k. saw

and asked me "does m.m. know abt gavin?"

and i was like yea but she's chill she didn't say anything abt it

okay okay first of all !! i am so glad you liked it, and imo, the series only gets better after the first two movies so pls pls do let me know if you end up continuing so we can talk about it hehe 🫶🏻 and also ! ik it's only the first one but please tell me if you have any fav characters already i am so curious !! i picked up the first book again and oh god . am i awful at actually reading and keeping up with a book idk why but i have absolutely no pace with it and sometimes simply forget to read 😭 i am aiming to read one chapter a day tho, and i started three days ago and read two so far, so i only missed a day, which isn't so bad ?? lmaoo this is actually embarrassing

i actually have curtain bangs right now and have been wanting to change up to wispy bangs for a while so my answer is that i love both styles hehe ! i'm scared tho because i feel like wispy bangs might not fit everyone depending on face features + shape, but i have seen plenty of different types of people with curtain bangs and they always look gorgeous !! even with wispy bangs too, i think i might just be overthinking it lmaoo . my thoughts tho is that you should 100% just go for it if you really want it babe, hair grows back eventually and i am sure you will look gorgeous no matter what 🤍
