ya know as much as i always hated the way julie plec made caroline her self insert i have to say she has nothing on that author cassandra clare who literally created her female protag as her self insert (both redheads and the protag's name was clary similar to the author's last name). and of course clary was the most special snowflake character who had all the boys in love with her... jp may have many flaws in writing, but until she creates a character named plecy she still isn't that bad lol

unpopular opinion maybe but im actually really glad the episode reiterated twice that magnus chose to give up his magic. ive noticed the fandom generally treats magnus like a bystander in his own life, where things happen to him rather than by him. when its much more accurate and interesting to say “magnus chose to do X, now what were the events leading to this that made him come to this decision and what was his thought process?” this is usually how the other characters are treated (i mean clary is also expected to shoulder blame for everyone elses actions too but i digress...) but not with magnus and its both tiring and paints him as the perpetual victim devoid of agency

Now that Chain of Thorns is out, it is wicked powers theories time!

We know that Ash, Dru, and Jaime are all set to appear and have large roles.

We also know Wicked Powers is supposed to loosely be bades of arthian legend.

The most well know arthian legend is that of Gwen, Arthur, and Lancealot.

We also know that Arthur dies in the end.

Could this be foreshadowing?

The one that has the most likeness with Arthur would be Ash.

A chosen prince to a kingdom. Isolated. An evil relative (Morgana and Mordred) (Janus and the seelie queen).

Funny how in season 1 when Magnus pushed Alec to not go through with the wedding, people praised Alec for shutting him down and said Magnus was pushy and predatory, but when Alec comes knocking on Magnus’ door for favours even though Magnus has ended the relationship they curse Magnus out for being sarcastic and not wanting to help him.

Funny how people expect Magnus to forgive Alec for being complicit in his torture and near execution, racial profiling, and hiding the fact that a genocidal fanatic is holding a weapon of mass destruction from him, but they think Alec should be angry at Magnus for being rude to him.

Funny how nobody said anything when Alec accused Magnus of hiding the fact that Izzy was on yinfen, even though Magnus was entirely unaware of the situation. But when Alec deliberately hid that he knew about the sword from Magnus, everyone wanted Magnus to apologise to Alec for words said out of anger.

When Alec is angry and lashes out, nobody says anything about it. But when Magnus is angry? Everyone thinks he should be rational, because he’s the “older and more experienced one”. Who cares that he has been betrayed by his loved ones in the past, or he had suffered through a horrible traumatic experience right? 

Magnus is allowed to have emotions. He’s allowed to be angry, messy, upset. He doesn’t exist just to cater to Alec’s feelings and needs. He’s allowed to be human.
