Sherlock and Irene Adler:
Please just Adlockers, I need ship validation. :D
In S2xE1 it could just be the lights, but if you watch at Sherlock‘s pupils, you can see them different in both pulse scenes.
In the first scene where he tooks her pulse, his pupils stay tight. It seems like he is cautious and stays in the observing mode to figure her motives out. He plays even though her game along and asks, why he should eat dinner if he is not hungry. And I think there was some curiosity of himself maybe too or more.
In the second scene at the end, his pupils are near her dilated too.. He seems more emotional and heartbroken and that is why he plays so cold…

The same rules as the last poll apply. This has nothing to do with sexual intimacy or no. of romantic scenes. Which couples worked best together and had a natural understanding of one another.

When they make Sherlock Holmes and Irene Norton née Adler have sexual tension I get so angry that steam comes out of my ears. First of all that woman has a lovely husband whom she risked her well-being and outsmarted royalty for. Second of all, she’s like Lana Del Rey to Sherlock Holmes. He keeps a photo of her in the way stan twitter has screenshots of their fav artists. This is not a heterosexual dynamic.

A SCANDAL IN BOHEMIA part 3 (part 1) (part 2)! the 'goodnight Mr Holmes' illustration is a direct reference to the Paget one, and Holmes is playing Symphony No. 6 (Pathétique Symphony) if you wanna listen along. And it really is canon that Watson sleeps over at Baker St here for uhhh no discernible reason
This is in the Watson's Sketchbook series!

I still can’t believe that in the literal first paragraph of A Scandal in Bohemia they make it very clear that Sherlock Holmes doesn’t feel anything close to love or anything romantic towards Irene Adler, and adaptations STILL manage to fuck it up.
And I can’t believe a big part of the story is that Irene Adler got MARRIED to someone whom she loved and adaptations STILL manage to fuck that up.

petition for a sherlock holmes muppets movie. sherlock holmes and watson are the only humans. kermit is lestrade. uncle deadly is moriarty. statler and waldorf are members of the diogenes club. ms piggy is irene adler.
holmes thinks he's on a cocaine-induced fever dream but alas! the case persists. watson is barely holding it together.

I know I’m preaching to the heads of the choir here. But. The idea that some scholars have that Sherlock Holmes is in love with Irene Adler, but even the THOUGHT that Holmes and Watson might have something more going on is disrespectful to them.
Let’s break this down.
Sherlock Holmes does not have feelings for Irene Adler. We know this because:
IT LITERALLY SAYS SO ON THE FIRST PAGE THIS IS NOT HARD “it was not as though he felt any emotion akin to love for Irene Adler”
He never actually speaks to her (they did exchange words while one or the other was in disguise very briefly)
He mentions her only one or two more times offhandedly
He is not interested in women “‘the fair sex is YOUR department, Watson’” “‘I have never loved, Watson, but if I did, and the woman I had loved…’” “‘I am not a whole souled admirer of women kind’” “‘women have seldom been of any attraction to me’” “he disliked and distrusted the sex” “he agreed to come with me once it was understood that the establishment was a bachelor one” “‘what an attractive woman!’ ‘Was she? I hadn’t noticed.’”
THIS IS NOT SUBTLE
THIS IS HITTING YOU OVER THE HEAD WITH IT.
Now, the most plausible interpretation of Holmes is as being aroace. Which fuck yes. A go-to. A classic. It makes Watson’s comments about him being a calculating machine hit harder, because which one of us hasn’t been called inhuman for this at some point. It makes more sense that what Watson speaks of is his lack of attraction, because otherwise Holmes is a very emotional man. He’s loud, dramatic, artistic, passionate and extremely caring to his friends. But to Victorian society he’s broken, because he’s missing something that they all view as a requirement for humanity.
Another interpretation is that Holmes and Watson are lovers. This is made more likely by this relationship being the antithesis to Holmes and Adler’s supposed “romance”
While Holmes is explicitly stated to NOT feel love for Adler, in the Three Garridebs his regard for Watson is described as just that. Love.
Unlike the previous “couple” Holmes and Watson speak nearly every story. Not only that, but they LIVE together. They share their work and life with each other. They take walks through the park and go to the museum and bicker about art. They are THERE for each other through everything.
Not only that, but in the few stories where Watson is not present, Holmes spends far too much time talking about his partner. About his remarkable abilities, what he would say in a situation, how much he misses him.
What I’m saying is, Holmes being aroace (possibly in a QPR with Watson) or Holmes and Watson being lovers is simply more viable than anything else.

Sherlock Holmes is truly every woman’s greatest fantasy: a sexist man gets humiliated by a woman much smarter than him and he responds by having a ton of respect for her and never being sexist ever again.
