I know Jegulus is popular and all that, but I do imagine that James would fucking hate Regulus. James Potter is a little shit, a shit starter, a protective dude, and above all else; He can come to very harsh moral judgments. We see this when he's like 'Man, Snape is awful. Time to hold him upside down!'

And the thing is. Sirius is his brother. He's been his brother since they met on the train in first year. He's been his brother since he calmed him down from a panic attack in the Gryffindor dorms cause he thought his mom would kill him. He's been his brother since he started getting mad anytime someone would refer to Sirius by his last name.

In his eyes, Regulus is two years younger than Sirius and does absolutely nothing to protect him. To help him. James mentally lumps him in with the rest of Sirius's family (though he hates him much less than he hates Sirius's parents. He only curses Regulus in the quiet safety of his own mind).

But at the end up the day, James finds himself unable to not hate the brother of his brother, the boy who failed at protecting Sirius. The boy who didn't even seem to try.

Sirius getting in trouble and McGonagall not calling his parents because Sirius was disowned, but also not calling the Potters because they had to take care of talking to James.

So, she decides to bring Regulus to her office and just let him yell at Sirius.

Regulus grabs James’ shirt when he falls asleep, James finds it extremely endearing; one day he asks about it and Regulus tells him it’s a habit he developed since he was a kid because he’d fall asleep with Sirius and he’d wake up alone and scared at the house, so by doing that, he wouldn’t leave.

James, from that day on, never leaves his side when they sleep and waits until Regulus wakes up to kiss him and get up, and eventually, after years together, one day Reg stops doing it, and James cries in silence because his boyfriend finally believes and knows that he won’t wake up alone anymore.

been thinking about this lately: au where regulus is remus’ doctor; regulus and sirius have a good relationship and sirius occasionally drops by regulus’ practice to have lunch, only to end up flirting shamelessly and inappropriately for months with his little brother’s big brown eyed patient. on the other hand, however, remus is not to be trusted to go to the doctor by himself, and so how could his over protective best friend james potter ever let him go alone? and oh, isn’t remus’ mean doctor just the most outrageously attractive man he’s ever seen?
