snipewriter
I'm not much of a Charger player, but I think the pencil is pretty neat. It kind of feels like the Bamboozler's uncle with a PhD in a way. I do think they need to tone down its' paint a bit, though because it turfing as well as it does has kind of resulted in it being played in competitive as a Tacticooler factory, and I think it's a lot more fun if a weapon can be picked for its own merit rather than the Special it spams. 10/10 sound design though shooting with this thing feels nice and chunky.

Weapon info from the Art of Splatoon 3, pages 97-109
There's more concept art for weapons in the book not shown in this post, but these are all the weapons that included descriptions. Translations under the cut:
Page 97 Splattershot Nova With long range, rapid-fire capabilities A new weapon by the manufacturer that developed the Splattershot and Splattershot Pro. This manufacturer is well known for its intense internal rivalry and competition, as multiple development projects are underway at the same time. This is also the source of the many weapon variants produced by this manufacturer. Page 100 Big Swig Roller Lightweight, mobile, and easy to handle Development was underway for a roller that could spread ink over a wide area, but it was difficult to strike a balance between weight and maneuverability. One day, the head developer's child was seen playing enthusiastically with straws and toys from a fast food restaurant, and the design was drastically changed. Lightweight materials and elastic straws were used to achieve both the desired weight and the wide spread. Page 101 Snipewriter 5H Capable of firing up to five times in rapid succession
This weapon gets loaded with hardened ink lead that can be fired off in rapid succession. In the construction of other pen-shaped weapons, the mechanisms for ink compression and firing take up much of the space, but this weapon lacks an ink compressor, allowing it to be equipped with a mechanism for rapid fire.
Page 104 Tri-Stringer Frozen ink that explodes at the point of impact This new kind of weapon was developed by a manufacturer that specializes in fishing equipment. The weapon is packed with unique tech, including strings with the strength and pliability of fishing line, and an ink freezing mechanism that's the same as what's used to rapidly freeze fish. Despite this weapon being full of intricate mechanisms, it's built to withstand the harsh environment of the Splatlands. Splatana Wiper A katana-inspired weapon
The speed of this Splatana's slashes is thanks to its lightweight frame and a durable, flexible shaft. It's popular among the youth who want to look stylish in both battle and fashion with a dashing slash. By swapping out the sponge, it can also be used as a cleaning tool.
Page 105 Angle Shooter Touching the line of ink is dangerous
A new Angle Shooter needs to be shaken several times before use, as the ink needs to get properly soaked into the marker's core. Accidents occasionally happen when it's shaken up too much, the ink splashes out and causes the marker to go everywhere. Many don't like the sound of the line being drawn. Page 106 Tacticooler Take a sip and feel refreshed and powered up
This special weapon was developed by a drink manufacturer that is also an official Turf War sponsor. The drinks that are deployed logo-side outward. This energy-giving drink is available all over the world, but the ones sold in the Splatlands are said to use different ingredients.
Page 109 Wave Breaker Damages opponents and tracks their location
A high-tech device that sends and receives active sonar, and shares that information to all players at once. It was developed by repurposing technology used to locate buried treasure in the Splatlands. The sphere contains a cooling mechanism to ensure the stability of the precision instruments, and is cool to the touch. Getting caught by the sonar will make one's head ring.

Guys listen to me pls Splatoon x Marauders. I know it is such a niche combo, but the clogs in my brain is working. Ok so Splatoon, Splatoon is a shooting game. Something got into me to make the Marauders in it. Don't mind their hair colors, because it's always random.. Yes Sirius got his one earring on his right ear, yes Remus got his scar in his eyebrow but got hidden by his hair..., and I know Remus and Peter has the same hair style-- I gotta work with the limited hairstyles. Sorry can't do anything with Peter's body in splatoon, so he's not chubby here :"(
Ok weapons! What I wanted all to talk about. For their team comp, I made Sirius and James as the main damage duo, while Remus and Peter as back lines.
Ok so I gave James a Splash-o-matic, a DPS weapon-- front line. Literally one of the best weapon to use. It is a meta weapon with its weapon and kit being aggressive, Burst bomb and Crab tank. Burst bomb being literally making damage as soon you throw it, Crab tank special being used as both front and back line. Splatana, 52. gal, Nzap, or the Splattershot itelf is my go to weapons for James. Just something fast and front damage weapon. I think of him as a fast kind of player, so I gave him something lightweight. Add on I think Splat Dualies is a good pick also for him. The weapon just really had that flare coolness into it.
Sirius is also a DPS. I gave him a Splatana Stamper, still a lightweight weapon with a bit of heaviness to it. I also think of him of someone fast. His weapon kit is pretty aggressive too, with Burst bomb and a Zipcaster, to go to places in a short minute of time. I can also give him Dynamo Roller purely of aesthetic hehe because it reminds me of his motorbike. He will probably have his fun with Sloshing Machine too. So is Dapple Dualies Nouveau, much shorter range but fast and annonying with its Torpedo, and its Reefslider being a reference to the Akira slide with its motorbike slide animation. Blaster is also a good pick, for it being a chaotic weapon. Dualie Squelchers is also a honorable mention.
Remus for me is definitely more a back line, usually in the back of the group. So I gave him a sniper weapon. Snipewriter 5H. Which I didn't notice when picked the weapon, the weapon is a pencil, you can think of him with his intensive studying heh. The kit is a Sprinkler for farming for its special, Tacticooler. That gives buff for teammates. I think he would enjoy more of a heavy and long range weapon to use, even though the main weapon I chose is more into lightweight but it is still long range. E-liter 4k is one of those, heavy and long range sniper. Explosher and Heavy/Hydra/Heavy edit Splatling is also a good pick of him. Weapons that are good to annoy enemies with.
Peter would probably choose Tenta Brella, something to hide behind. The kit, Squid beacon to get back fast into the game as soon you respawn and Inc Vac to suck damage thrown. But, Peter is also the one who is the sneakiest of them all. Carbon Roller is also a good pick. Carbon Roller partnered with Ninja squid ability is the most popular way to use it (In Splatoon there is two ways of movement walking and swimming, having Ninja Squid makes you almost invisible swimming around, so it is good for sneaking enemies). He looks up to James a lot, so he probably tries some of James uses, dualies for example, Glooga dualies more specifically. I think he will also try Slosher, Luna Blaster, Undercover brella.
Peter is a secret agent from Kamabo Co., I was think first of him joining DJ Octavio, but he has good side on him so I didn't.
For me I feel like Sirius and James are ranked battle freaks. They would always drag Remus and Peter. Remus and Peter are more casual players. They also get dragged to Salmon Run by the two.
Added them more personalities through their Splashtags(banner) Sirius being a Toni Kensa cloth brand fan, Peter being a Tableturf game fan-- a card game to equal to him liking chess games, Remus being a big fan of Splatoon musics, and I just have feeling James a big fan of Salmon Run.
so if I throughly put them in the knowledge of they are inklings and octolings(the beings called in Splatoon) If I follow what some witches think of muggles-- bellow them. In Splatoon, Inklings are seen as the better species, for octolings live underground for they lose the war against inklings. Then I can put James, Sirius, and Peter as inklings. While, Remus as an octoling, but it won't make sense because he's a half. So by purely of aesthetics I made Remus, James, and Peter as inklings, while Sirius as octoling.
If I follow the Splatoon's story, it is not possible for Remus to turn into werewolf. So as exchange, he is sanitized. From were they are sanitized, all people who get sanitized is mostly tricked into it. So from here I think I can still follow of Remus getting forced into turning one. Being brainwashed, they forget their own identity.
For canon design of Marauders, this is the closes i can get into their hair styles.

i followed because you put kieran in dresses. please put paul in more dresses
anyways now i'm thinking "cephalopod kieran" and he would've absolutely tried to use some top meta threat like snipewriter 5h or splatana stamper. sorry i still get autistic about kieran
there will be more Paul in dresses, that's a GUARANTEE.
Anyway, I've also already thought about Kieran as a splatoon character and i did some doodles several months ago!
I actively refuse to learn the meta so I just gave him a main based on vibes alone. and the vibes are dapple dualies. he probably also hits S+ rank every goddamn season at freak speeds. Bro is splatting like he has no future and not placing any fucking beacons like he should be. (he learns to use them and be more supportive eventually tho its fine)
#splatoon#pokemon#rival kieran#pokemon scarlet and violet#FUCK i haven't thought about Kieran in a WHILE. he kinda lost his blorbo status in my mind. maybe i should be insane about him again#ask

This is the Snipewriter 5B, with a different sub and special from the 5H to change up your writing style. Use a Splash Wall to secure your position, and your main weapon, which can fire up to 5 consecutive shots, to spread ink. Spread the ink further with the Ink Storm special!
これは「R-PEN/5B」。

Guys, new idea dropped! What if Rain Code characters played Splatoon? Not gonna do everyone this time, only a few (the MDA + most Peacekeepers and Makoto)
So, what weapon I think they would use :
Yakou : Ah shooter, because it's a classic, and I think Yakou would be into classics. Now, especially the Splattershot, because it's pretty balanced, the sticky bomb is nice, and I can see him being happy and shooting something like "Hell yeah!" everytime his trizooka is ready and he uses it
Halara : A charger because of the way they aim pretty damn well with their coin. And especially the Bamboozler 14 Mk I, because it's fucking overpowered?? The charge speed is fire, the range is great and mobility is great too! Given how fast Halara is in Rain Code, I don't think they'd like to have slow chargers with bad mobility. Now, you'll tell me "Oh but what about the Bamboozler Mk II?" well... I honestly the autobomb and killer wail of Mk1 would please Halara more because the autobomb is kinda sneaky, and the killer wail is almost unescapable, just like Halara themselves. Although I think Halara's favourite special would be the tenta missiles. Buuut, can't have everything, you know? Ok, worse case scenario, Halara would take the Goo Tuber instead of Bamboozler 14 Mk1
Yuma : A Brush because of the solution blade (why not a splatana? You'll see). At first I was hesitating between the Painbrush and Octobrush Nouveau... But I think the Painbrush's handling is too crap. As for why an Octobrush... I just think they are better than the Inkbrushes. Because they have slightly better range for only slightly worse handling and ink speed. Soo... As for why the Octobrush Nouveau precisely... I don't know how to explain it, but I feel like the special and the sub are better for Yuma? Like, I think it would suit his playstyle better? Idk how to explain it
Desuhiko : A Roller... I don't know. It screams Desuhiko to me. But not a Dynamo Roller, because they have the worse Ink Speed and handling, and I feel like Desuhiko playstyle is just random. The man just wants to have fun. But it's not fun if your weapon is slow as duck. I think he'd have a Carbon Roller Deco, because I feel that's the one which would offer the must fun thanks to the sub and special
Vivia : I have no real idea... Maybe a Slosher or a Brella? More likely a Brella? I don't know
Fubuki : A Blaster. Because she's an adventurer and all, but everyone would think she'd take something cuter or something, but turns out she likes big weapons which goes BOOM. (Maybe dualies or stringers as a second choice though). Now... Which one? I have no idea. So I'll just say which one I think she could like, and why : S-BLAST '91, it's pretty, the burst bombs are fun and it's great to have all the team cheering with you for the Booyah Bomb. Luna Blaster, it's cute and the Zipcaster makes her feel like a super-hero and she likes that. Same idea for the Luna Blaster Neo, the Ultra Stamp is very fun. And maybe the S-BLAST '92 because I feel like she would be amazed by the sprinkler and the reefslider?
Seth : I have no explanation. When I think about Seth, I think about a Slosher. Especially a Blobber. And I think like he would love the Blobber Deco over the regular Blobber, because KRAKEN ROYALE!! I think Seth would love the Kraken Royale. And, somehow, the Angle Shooter makes sense for him I think? Like, knowing where his opponents are would be in character for him I think?
Martina : The Brella, of c- WRONG! Give my lady a fucking charger! I think she would like a Snipewriter, because it has a great range and a very decent Mobility. However, I can't chose between the Snipewriter 5H, or the Snipewriter 5B... Or wait... Maybe a Stringer? But I see her with a charger more than a stringer... Hmm
Yomi : Was hesitating between a Blaster or a Splatling... But since I already gave Fubuki a Blaster, let's say I give the Splatling to Yomi. SO, I was hesitating between... Well, most of them actually, but I think I'll go with the Mini Splatling, because it has an Ultra Stamp, and I'm sure Yomi would love to literally crush his enemies to death. So yeah.
Guillaume : Dark Tetra Dualies (because those are literally the best weapons, I don't want to hear anything else)... No but really, the range is pretty neat, the mobility is awesome, and the damage... You can compensate if you manage to corner/surprise the enemy. + I think she'd like to have the autobombs because they are kinda sneaky, and of course she would like the reefslide! I mean, just look at her!
Aide : I don't know why, but a Shooter. And I feel like the .52 Gal would be best for him. I wanted one with great damage and good fire rate... None was good enough. It was either great damage but shit fire rate, or balanced range-damage-fire rate. And I didn't want that. I hesitated with the .96 Gals, but the fire rate was a bit lower than the .52. So 52 it is! As for which one... The regular .52 Gal. Because it has the killer wail and once again, the killer wail is hard to escape, so...
Makoto : Splatana... Because Makoto had to have a similar yet different weapon from Yuma + I feel like it suits him better than a brush. Now, I think he would have a Wiper because it has a better handling than the other splatanas, and I think Makoto woul prefer a good handling over the other stats. And I feel like the regular Splatana Wiper would suit him better than the Wiper Deco, because... Look at me and dare say to me that the Ultra Stamp isn't the most Makoto thing? Plus I feel like he would find the Torpedo more useful than the Squid Beakon (although squid beakon could symbolise him only counting on himself etc etc)... Either way, a splatana wiper (regular one first I think)

Black Butler X Splatoon 3 Headcanons
Ciel Phantomhive
Preferred Weapon Type: Shooters
Main Weapon: Splattershot
Favourite Mode: Splat Zones
Sebastian Michaelis
Preferred Weapon Type: Dualies
Main Weapon: Jet Squelcher/Dark Tetra Dualies
Favourite Mode:
He is the one everyone is the most scared of and he is indeed pretty above average, being damn fast, not missing a shot and handling the battlefield like a master of situations, buuuut... As long as Ciel gives him orders from behind, he cannot put his full potential to use.
If he loses a battle, it is only because the referee cat distracted him.
He forgets to press continue at least once per session because he can't get enough of the cat.
In the lobby he hangs out near the cat every time, watching it and wishing to touch its fluffy paws, then realising it's just a game and getting depressed.
He loves Splatoon 3 for the sole reason that it has cats as referees.
Elisabeth Midford
Preferred Weapon Type: Brellas/Dualies
Main Weapon:
Upon seeing her low rank, you are going to assume she's a total noob and doesn't move the team forward, but then surprise, she's the one who leads everyone to victory, slaughtering one by one and competing even with Grell.
She's actually a pacifist, but Splatoon 3 makes her forget all morals and good manners, mercilessly killing players who are just standing around or swimming up the walls.
She is a team player, shielding her teammate and rushing to their rescue, but she is also great at solo.
When Ciel is near, her skills are skyrocketing. If Ciel is killed, you have hopelessly gotten yourself in a deadly situation, because she will go berserk, wiping out the entire opponent's team.
Edward Midford
Preferred Weapon Type: Brushes
Main Weapon:
Favourite Mode:
He is relatively average, a little less good compared to Lizzy, Sebastian and Ciel, but does his job decently. However, if you kill his sister, then running away won't help you anymore, because he chases you all over the field and won't rest until he slaughters you. Probably dies as well during the attempt, but he doesn't care, as long as the opponents dead
Also, he gets absolutely pissed if the opponent kills him before he could take revenge
One of his strategies is to hide behind his sister's shield and then race fast behind the enemy and finish them off. This won't work every time.
Mey-Rin
Preferred Weapon Type: Chargers
Main Weapon: E-liter 4K Scope
Favourite Mode: Turf War/Anarchy Battles
She is the incredibly talented sniper that you won't notice until the very moment you die. Always changing positions and never staying in one spot for too long, she's hard to kill and even harder to avoid. She can wipe out an entire team and protect the base like no one else. However, if you manage to get close, she struggles with her short weapon range and easily gets killed. Her skills also vary depending on the stage.
Bardroy
Preferred Weapon Type: Blasters/Splatlings
Main Weapon: Range Blaster
Favourite Mode: Turf War/Rainmaker
Finnian
Preferred Weapon Type: Sloshers
Lau
Preferred Weapon Type: Stringers
Main Weapon: Tri-Stringer
Favourite Mode:
He would actually be useful in battle IF he wouldn't
Grelle Sutcliffe
Preferred Weapon Type: Splatanas
Main Weapon: Splatana Stamper
Favourite Mode: Anarchy Battles
William T. Spears
Preferred Weapon Type: Chargers
Main Weapon: Snipewriter 5H
Favourite Mode: Tower Control/Salmon Run
Ronald Knox
Preferred Weapon Type: Rollers
Main Weapon: Dynamo Roller
Favourite Mode: Clam Blitz/Splat Zones
He abuses the boyaah-button far too much
Undertaker
Preferred Weapon Type: Shooters
Main Weapon: N-Zap '85
Favourite Mode: Turf War
In General
For absolutely no canonical reason: if Mey-Rin and William were to fight each other, it would be an extreme battle between two professional chargers. It would be difficult to judge which of them would win.

Snipewriter 5H/Tri-Stringer
Snipewriter is arguably the strongest weapon in the game right now, and the best tacticooler weapon. It has insane paint, insane range, and basically no gear dependency. Almost everyone maxes out on as much special power and charge as possible, but I really think run speed is important to how this weapon wants to play.
Unlike most other charges, pencil has a really high strafe speed that scales well with run speed. Having that extra mobility helps you walk on uninkable surfaces like grates, move more quickly when painting, and to help survive when you're rushed down. Sure you can just use tacticooler to get run speed, but you won't always have it active. Many pencil players prefer to play as passive as possible, focusing on paint and cooler output only - I think the weapon is also really great at fighting and extra mobility helps to enable that.
Pencil doesn't need extra ink efficiency past 2 subs of main saver to hit 3 full charges, but it does appreciate the extra shots in a pinch. Last ditch effort helps you paint even more in losing situations to help get your team back in or flip a zone. The rest of your gear is just utility subs and then your personal preference of a mix of special charge and power. Tri-Stringer wants many of the same things, but the special power helps make your wail more effective by lasting 13% longer. Most builds in crab meta would use object shredder, but this is largely useless now with less objects overall in the meta to fight. Bow already does great object damage vs wavebreakers, big bubbler, etc so you can use the extra room to fit some special charge and main saver.

How did Neo 3 meet smallfry? What's all of your agents favourite foods? Their main weapons? (inksplattering here)
So Zowie, aka Agent Neo3, was actually raised by salmonids, so Rol, aka Little Buddy, is her brother. Their dad was killed by the fuzzy ooze bc Grizz was testing the weapon on salmonids, which is why they ended up in Splatsville

Sam, aka Cap’3, has more opinions on energy drinks than they do on food, I’m sorry to say. She’s been known stay up until 3am remixing and splicing songs together, creating a mountain of cans for her girlfriend to scold her about come morning. They main dualies, specifically Enperry Splat Dualies.

Mackerel “Mack”, aka Agent 4, likes anything that’s been fried but will do just about anything you ask of them if there’s deep fried shrimp provided after completion. Yes, Marina did pay them for their work on the Memverse, but there was also shrimp involved. Mack is a splattershot guy, with his go-to being the Forge Splattershot Pro (they will booyabomb on your ass)

Misaki, aka Agent 8, loves spring rolls and gyoza, they’re her favorite snacks. She’ll eat just about anything if the base is jasmine rice and there’s a sweet-sour sauce involved. These days she mains either the Inkbrush Nouveau or the Snipewriter 5H, depending if she needs to be on the frontlines or play support for her dumbass girlfriend, Sam.

Zowie, aka Agent Neo3, likes uhh… salmonid foods, which makes it hard for her to find her old comfort foods now that she’s in Cephalopod Society TM. Pickled foods are the closest to her old diet, so you’re likely to be face with a frightening collection of jars. She and Rol both like sardines too. Zowie mains splatana, with the Splatana Wiper being her trusty go-to.

So with the new trailer that just dropped today for Drizzle Season 2
youtube
I noticed that they’re not adding any shooters this time; this is the first time where there hasn’t been a single shooter in an update.
With how everything’s been distributed over the seasons, this is very much a good thing. But then I got to thinking about the weapons they’re adding overall and things there aren’t so good…
This season will add ten new weapons (8 kits and 2 new weapons). That is a record low for this game. And after this update, how many weapons are left that don't have second kits? 21.
.52 Gal
Squeezer
Blaster
Range Blaster
S-Blast
Flingza Roller
Painbrush
Squiffer
E-Liter
Bamboozler
Snipewriter
Explosher
Dread Wringer
Hydra Splatling
Nautilus Splatling
Heavy Edit Splatling
Splat Dualies
Glooga Dualies
Undercover Brella
REEF-Lux
Splatana Stamper
It's been an entire year, and not every weapon has a second kit yet; that is ridiculous. All but 5 of these are weapons that have been in the game since launch; some players will need to wait over a year just to get a second kit, that is pathetic.
It gets worse when you look at another trend the devs have been doing. So far, they've added new weapons for most of the classes in the game
Shooters: Splattershot Nova
Rollers: Big Swig Roller
Chargers: Snipewriter 5H
Brushes: Painbrush
Blasters: S-Blast 92
Sloshers: Dread Wringer
Splatlings: Heavy Edit Splatling
If they follow this all the way through, we’ll also get a new Dualie, Brella, Stringer, and Splatana. That, times two, equates to 8 more weapons to add with the updates: that's now 29 weapons to add before updates stop.
With the rate they've been adding weapons, we will just barely get a second kit for every weapon by the second Sizzle Season, the last major update of the game. But that also means it's unlikely for any weapon to get a third kit, something that's been done in both the first and second games.
If Splatoon 3, the game that celebrates itself by having the number 3 everywhere, doesn't have 3rd kits at all… that's unacceptable…
The Splatoon dev team needs to pick up the pace with the weapon kits if they don’t want this game to be the one that handles giving weapons kits the most poorly.

Quick Navigation: Chargers
This directory has links to the main tags of every Charger weapon across the games.
Notes
This blog focuses on pose references over solely references of the weapon itself. For references of the weapon, there are many places on the Internet that let you view the full models, including Inkipedia!
Some tags may be empty as they are often added before images for the weapon are uploaded.
For a wider range of pose references, look at the tag for the vanilla version of the weapon. Alternate versions of weapons typically have less pictures, as the model is pretty much the same and already documented, just with a new coat of paint.
The weapons are classified with their english in-game name (NOA), weapon class (ex. shooter, roller) and potential specific identifiers (ex. Aerospray).
