Do you guys remember the Marvel's horrible take on GenZ heros?

Of course you do! Marvel's "New Warriors"

A comic so bad it was never released and canceled on the spot, but what if they come back? I have TWO proposals for marvel

A.Snowflake and Safespace kills the universe

And

B. Deadpool vs the New Warriors

The first comic would be a simple "blank hero goes evil and kills everyone" but with snowflake and safespace being stupidly overpowered

Snowflake having control of absolute zero, freezing people's arms off, crafting ice weapons to counter heros and Safespace using his forcefields at max control, crushing people in boxes, using very thin forcefields as giant arrows to shoot out, sucking out all the oxygen in his force fields to suffocate people

OR

They become deadpool villains and you give them new names like

DNI List, exposed&canceled, death threats, brain brainrot, and GRTL (get ready to lose)

And then you just put them with deadpool, say he posted something not "Politically correct" somewhere so the new warriors try to beat him up for it

Whatever you do you have to make them OVER THE TOP, you can't make them tame at all, they have to be making references every second and confuse everyone around them while either kicking their ass or getting their asses kicked

Either way it has to be funny because they're gag characters now, that's the only way they would work today

I still see youtubers making videos about those leaked concepts for the New Warriors, Snowflake and Safespace. That was years ago and Marvel actually responded to the criticism and didn't use those characters. You have to let it go at some point.

That original 90s comic era really was their best & nearly every run since then has been...😅 uh, not that. Plus no show? Dang, they need love! 😭

Ntm, idk about anybody else, but it'd please me to no end, if these characters got new hero names (the only genuine issue w/ them) & we saw them placed on the Champions or something, since the editorial plans for them in New Warriors got shot down

man I will never forgive marvel (and the trolls on twitter they listened to) for cancelling the planned new warriors volume 6.

to be clear, I don't think it would have been good. honestly, I think it might have been kind of awful. and I think it probably would have lost marvel money, so from a financial perspective cancelling it was a good move.

but as an enjoyer of weird awkward superhero media, as someone who spends a non-0 percentage of every day on this earth thinking about the Generation X tv pilot and the unreleased 1995 fantastic four movie, who absolutely adores the deeply sincere and yet wildly out of touch vibes of the runaways...

there was a "cool teen" vampire called b-negative who dressed like prince going through a goth phase. there were characters called snowflake and safespace who had ice and forcefield powers and who I really think were intended to be an awkwardly sincere attempt at representation. and on an unironically possitive note, there was a fat female superhero! do you know how rare that is?!

obviously the right wing trolls hated it, and they're probably the primary reason it was cancelled, but I also saw a lot of nice sane people making good faith criticisms that basically boiled down to 'but it looks like it's going to be so awkward and out of touch and probably accidentally low-key offensive in ways the writers would be horrified by if it was explained to them', and that's totally fair. it absolutely looked like that.

but that's where the new warriors thrive as a team and always has been, they're 'how do you do fellow kids' the team, and because of that they got to have some really important firsts and representation (after silhouette left the team it took almost two decades before we got the next crutch-using superhero in a big two cape comic). the new warriors trying too hard to be relatable and ending up feeling like a parody of a 'woke' superhero team is a big and legitimately important part of both their whole deal and the history of comics generally.

which makes it sound like i'm arguing we need to let comics be bad and cringe if we want to make strides in representation, and that is true, and I am saying that

but mostly I'm just saying that it would have been terrible and cringy in the very specific way I love, and I'll go to my grave still sad that I didn't get to enjoy it.

It's been brought to my attention that, with the wedding of Tony Stark and Emma Frost, the last of the hints dropped in 2019's History of the Marvel Universe #6 have been fulfilled at long last. I bet Mark Waid didn't think it would take this long when he was writing this page, but the way Marvel chose to respond to the COVID-19 emergency turned a lot of plans on their heads.

So, let's break them down, going top to bottom, left to right.

The Age of Khonshu: This was an arc in Jason Aaron's Avengers run, notable for not being very good and for Moon Knight catching and controlling Mjolnir because it's "made of moon rock."

The interstellar reign of the half-breed: This is referring to the Empyre event and its fallout, where Hulkling/Teddy Altman/Dorrek VIII takes the throne of the united Kree-Skrull empire, as was his destiny.

The rise of the outlaw generation: This was the Outlawed event, which was about as forgettable as they come and is only remembered for spawning the awful New Warriors series from Daniel Kibblesmith (the Snowflake/Safespace one) that never got published.

The King In Black: Self-explanatory, this was 2021's Venom-centric King in Black event, where the dark symbiote god Knull led an invasion of symbiote dragons upon Earth.

The Wedding of Tony Stark and Emma Frost: This one just happened a few months back, it has to do with some Fall of X stuff that's too much to explain here. Just know that it's a marriage of convenience.

The tragic fate of Luke & Jess's second child: This one's a little iffy in that the tragic fate hasn't happened yet, but they did adopt one of the Purple Man's abandoned children at the end of the Devil's Reign event.

The Defenders of tomorrow: It's not entirely clear to me, but I think this one's referring to the Al Ewing Defenders and Defenders Beyond series. If you like fun, trippy cosmic stories, you should check them out.

Warbird and Threadneedle: Are both new characters who showed up in Kurt Busiek's The Marvels maxiseries, which was a fun deep dive into obscure Marvel history - specifically history that Waid partially retconned in during this very series to explain the backstories of characters who were originally WWII or Vietnam vets.

The fate of Mephisto: I'd hoped this would be hinting at something in Nick Spencer's Spider-Man run, but, alas, it just turned out to be Jason Aaron's Avengers again, and was... kind of underwhelming. Oh, well.
