Inktober Day 25: DANGEROUS [ATEEZ x John Wick]
Handler!Wooyoung & Assassin!San
The sounds of an escalating gunfight filled Wooyoung's den in the Gwishin's HQ, even as he tried to smooth San's escape after his latest mission. “Hey, Red Cat, this is getting out of hand. You were only meant to deliver a warning not... whatever you did with their second-in-command.” "Is that complaining I hear, my dear handler?" San chuckled as he cut through another wave of henchmen with lithe grace. "Never. Only my food is getting cold and you are ruining a perfectly good suit for these idiots- Turn left and down the corridor- Watch out! Incoming at 3 o'clock." "This is such a drag," San sighed and Wooyoung watched him look around from the cover of a door. "I found a shortcut." The sound of an almighty crash made him yelp and nearly made him swallow his spoon even as his eyes grew wide as he stared at the place San's been. "Did you just jump out?!" A chuckle and a few gunshots were his only answer. "That's fucing dangerous, you moron!" Wooyoung wheezed, voicing his outrage through his coughs. "I didn't even check if it was a safe height to jump from!" "I never said it was going to be safe."

Another Arcanum fan here^^ thank you for the awesome fanart! i went looking for other arcanum fans around 7-8 years ago and the scene was basically dead, i think i could only find literally 1 piece of arcanum fanart on tumblr at the time lol. BG3 and YouTubers doing videos on arcanum has really brought back a little life to its fandom i think
Hello to another fellow Arcanum fan! It's so lovely to see y'all come out of the woodwork haha~ It's a pleasure to make fanart of this absolute gem of a game!
Here are my two favorite dwarf lads: Logs and Mags~ 💛
Tumblr media
lol I am one of those folks who discovered Arcanum because of YouTubers, specifically through MandaloreGaming's video back when it came out in late 2022. The game's name immediately intrigued me because I love "steamworks" (the 19th century/Victorian/steampunk aesthetic) and "magick" (high fantasy settings). I knew I had to play it after watching the video, so I did!
Tumblr media
On the left is the first pass at the design for my Living One, Rí'an Mal'los back when I first started playing the game in January 2023. I eventually overhauled her design completely (right image that I finished in February 2025) to match the colors of her in-game portrait + sprites. mutton sleeves, my beloved...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(I also have an unhealthily large historical fashion reference collection, a lot being about the 19th century, so this game allows me to play fun dress-up with my Living One and the various NPCs)
I remember playing super sporadically/on-and-off for a while in my first playthrough. Based on my screenshot history, I blitzed through most of the game in April 2024 after I finally got through my roadblock of finding Renford A. Terwilliger's book, because after T'sen-Ang, I just tore through the main quest (Master of Persuasion route because heck yeah!).
I finished my first playthrough in September 2024, hence the huge uptick of Arcanum fanart from me since then. I just enjoyed the game so much and was inspired to draw! It reawakened the character/clothing designer within me since the limited graphics leave a lot of fun room for interpreting how the NPCs look.
I'm currently early on in my second playthrough, but I find myself feeling the urge to draw more rather than play, which isn't a particularly bad thing imo haha~ 💛

Everyone's talking about Wish right now.... The only thing I can say about WISH.......let's hope it's like a Frozen 1 type thing. Where the trailers were ABSOLUTE ASS but then the film turned out really good. TT0TT
I mean.....there is a difference between the two. While the west got weird trailers that didn't matter for Frozen (Olaf vs Sven carrot thing), JPN and other countries got trailers that actually showcased the plot and drama in an interesting way.... And Wish.....well...... Wish at least gives us a villain and a part of an argument.....and I can't see that argument leading anywhere.....great tbh. So maybe not the best comparisons but let's hope for the Frozen 1 vibe!
Anyway I'm not liking what I'm seeing so far, but I'm hoping its better than the ass disaster Frozen 2 and Ralph 2 were. ;w;
#silly talks#disney#WISH#frozen#as frozen's first fan and the one that didn't care the trailers were ass......my heart goes out to Wish fans rn kldjsafkljsaf#'silly that's pretty bold of you to consider yourself THE FIRST frozen fan-" i drove that damn bandwagon y'all just jumped on later#no really around 2009-2010 i remember looking at the Snow Queen disney page wikipedia page to see if it finally got taken off of hiatus she#*off the hiatus shelf#i remember the damn day the announced Dinsey would take a crack a the Snow Queen adaptation again#then when they announced Kristen Bell for a character (super estatic cause i wanted to hear her singing even more after watching Veronica m#*after watching veronica mars)#The Snow Queen has been a fav fairy tale of mine since i was a baby so yeah I was excited to say the least TT0TT#and yeah 5 seconds into the movie (the day it released mind you! yes I was there I remember how dead the theater was) i was like 'I love it#I ended the movie and wanted to go back in too i loved it that much#safe to say I was BLOWN AWAY by how much OTHERS loved it esp after everyone was bitching abt it leading up to that film TT0TT#anyway love frozen 1 it's my fav#hate frozen 2 it's hot garbage I never felt more lied to by trailers than this movie holy shit#i'm like 8 rants away from writing a complete dissertation on how Frozen 2 completely misunderstood Frozen 1 in it's entirety#(note: I dont think F1 is perfect nor do I think it's a masterpiece I just happen to love it a lot uwu)#anyway I hope wish has a similar thing (sleeper hit release part....not a shitty sequel part)

Pink Goes Well with Purple
Summary - After entering in a series of death games, a popstar fallen from grace finds comfort in a certain purple haired stranger.
Warnings - mentions of reader having pink hair (hence the title lol), ooc Thanos?, bad writing, please excuse any grammatical errors, this is pretty short
A/N - this is my first ever attempt at writing fanfiction for a character so I know this story might be hot ass, I just really wanted to jump on the Thanos bandwagon since he's one of my favs from this season and there's not enough fics on here for him to quench my thirst lol
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Once a universally loved popstar, the emotional distress caused by the separation from your ex-boyfriend caused you to fall down a rabbit hole of sex and drugs, not to mention the $70,000,000 lawsuit you were slapped with after punching a paparazzi for putting his camera just a tad bit too close to your face. The heavy fallout from the legal battle was enough to make the whole world turn its back on you. Essentially blacklisted from the industry as a whole, you were desperate to rebuild your image (or at least get your money back) in any way you possibly could.
That's when you were approached by a man in a suit offering you $100,000 if you beat him in a game of ddakji. Managing to win 2 out of the 3 games played, you were given your $200,000 as promised by the suit-clad man standing before you.
"You know, I have a simple solution to your debts." he said. You were confused as to how he knew you had debts, you didn't recall mentioning your financial situation to him, at all. You tried to brush his comment off, maybe he had seen your name in a tabloid mentioning your lawsuit somewhere and he recognized you.
"How do you know I'm in debt?"
No answer, he just pulled a card out of the inside pocket in his suit and handed it to you. "We don't have many spots left so if you're interested, please call us as soon as possible." Then, he was gone.
You spent the rest of the day looking at the brown business card given to you, you took notice of the shapes that were on the front of it. The simplistic design of the card was weirdly intriguing. On the back, a phone number. On one hand, you didn't want to be wasting your time. On the other hand, you needed money in order to rebuild your life. So, this could either be the biggest scam or the biggest blessing of your entire life.
Fuck it, you dialed.
You didn't really know it at the time, but that phone call would unleash a chain of events that would change your life, forever.
That's how you winded up in the situation you were in now. Transported to a room designed to simulate a courtyard, a giant doll on the other side of the room.
Suddenly, you heard a voice come up from behind you, "Hey señorita" the deep voice spoke. Turning your head around, your eyes were met with the sight of a tall, purple haired man. "Knew I recognized that pretty pink hair from somewhere. You're that singer that socked that paparazzi guy in the face; Y/N, right?"
"Yes, Y/N. Who are you?" I said back. "You don't know who I am?" He said, a twinge of pretend hurt in his voice. "Am I supposed to?" You always had a slight dislike for people who expected everyone to know who they were. Clearly, this guy was one of those people.
"No, but we can get to know each other. Tell me about yourself, beautiful."
"Are you flirting with me?" a slight smirk began to form on your face. While his attitude was a bit off-putting, he was pretty cute.
"Yo, pink hair, you're so fine
like a bouquet of flowers, all intertwined
You're the rose to my thorn, the petal to my stem
Red, orange, yellow, green
I'm a legend, Thanos"
You giggled at his comically bad attempt at freestyling. "Thanos, huh? I guess that would explain the purple hair. Although, you're not as hideous as the titan."
"I'll take that as a compliment, petal."
Masked men wearing pink jumpsuits began to round up every other person who was dressed in the same blue-green sweatsuit as you and Thanos; you did a quick head count, confirming the amount of people to be about 400. Once a female voice on the intercom explained that you were all going to participate in a game of Red Light Green Light, the big robotic doll began to recite the games' chant.
Red light, a bee had landed on the neck of the girl standing in front of Thanos while the doll was scanning the room for movement. ''There's a bee on you, don't freakout." Instantly, the girl began to swat at her neck in an attempt to get the insect off. While the scene unfolding was slightly amusing to watch, your heart felt like it had stopped once a single bullet pierced her forehead. Her blood had splattered onto Thanos's face, and you watched as his face dropped once her body hit the ground.
Green light, Thanos picked up his cross-shaped necklace and opened it, revealing an array of colorful, circular pills. "Want one, petal? They'll help you relax." Red light, you stood still while staring at the pills in his hands; you had been clean for a little over 3 months now, but pill popping had never sounded better. "Fuck it, give me one."
Green light, he quickly placed a blue colored pill in your hand then grabbed an orange pill for himself. He grabbed your hand and started to lead you both further across the courtyard. Immediately, you began to feel the effects of the mysterious pill you had just ingested. As you continued to advance through the game, your vision became nothing but a colorful kaleidoscopic blur. The sudden energy burst allowed you and Thanos to quickly cross the red finish line, jumping, dancing, and twirling together on the way there.
After the game was over, the remaining players were all taken back to the room where your bunk beds were. You and Thanos were standing against a wall together, giggling at seemingly nothing. "Stick with me from now on, petal. I'll protect you." He said, finishing his statement off with a playful wink. "THE Thanos wants to protect me? Wow, I'm so fucking lucky" you chuckled. "I'm serious! I wouldn't want anything to happen to my flower now, would I?"
You just looked at him with a slight smile. His nickname for you made you blush, your cheeks taking on a subtle hue that matched your hair. He had such a way with words, you couldn't help but be totally charmed by him. "Fine then, let's team up. Thanos the Mad Titan and Y/N, Popstar Fallen from Grace; world's greatest duo." Your words made him smile like an idiot. He loved your company already.
"Of course we're the world's greatest duo. Pink goes well with purple, petal."

Another dcxdp prompt any ship really, but I'm going to go with tim/danny because that is a hyper fixation for me for the for seeble future.
Danny has lasting nerve damage from being electrocuted. So he needs some help with his day to day and he has periodical seizures. His friends and family can only do so much besides Danny hates being a burden, not that he is. So what does he do get cujo trained as a service dog, or it could be any other dog, but I thought with how close he is with danny. Cujo takes his job very seriously. Think of one of those dogs that when on the job stand at attention. He helps Danny by picking up, caring, and standing up, and because he is a ghost and a dog, he can sense Danny's seizures well in advance. He also helps with ptsd. I'm one the vivisection bandwagon for Danny, which is quite traumatizing. Danny makes him a collar that make him solid while they are in the human world. Cujo is a registered meta dog thats how they get around the fact he is a never fading green and can get bigger. I headcanon that cujo for this prompt after he is trained grows to naturally bigger like the size of a large dog like a Rottweiler or an Anatolian Shepherd.
One day, the batfamily are at the park with Ace and Titus. Ace is Bruce's service dog for ptsd. They went to the park for a family day and for both dogs to be just that dogs. While they are there, they run into Danny and cujo. The duo stopped at the park for cujo to have a break. So, cujo is not wearing his vest. Danny has it. They are playing fetch. Damian spotted cujo and got upset that someone dyed a dog green. I think he doesn't know that some people will dye their service dog to be better spotted or to deter theft. He is still learning. Damian goes up to Danny and starts to lecture him about it. Cujo does not like this person acting like that to Danny. So he going up to them and getting larger. The batfam gets freaked out and runs over to Damian. Danny puts his hand on cujos' side to calm him. Bruce starts in on Danny on why does he has a meta dog. Danny just calmly puts on cujos' service vest. It stops the batfamily in the rant. They see the shift in the dog to i am on duty they see in Ace when he is working. The batfam see cujo circle Danny, causing them to back up away from him.( i can't remember what this is called). They see Danny relax a bit after cujo pushes them away. Damian asked why is the he green Danny explained a bit to him. Danny was holding something from his left hand, and he dropped it. cujo just picked it up for him and just held it when he saw Danny cant grasp it yet. Steph, with no filter, asks why does the dog just holds it. Danny says he is trained pickup, hold, push buttons, to help him get up, to alert him that he is having a seizure, and for ptsd. Danny then turns and leaves. The batfamily is left feeling terrible for how they acted.
Danny runs an electronic and hobby store. It has everything that you could need to build anything. He doesn't need to work with the riches from being ghost king. One day, tim is on the look for something he needs for a device. He has checked many stores when he gets to Danny’s store (I can't think of a name). Tim walks into see the guy from the park. Danny helps tim find what he needs. It becomes Tim's go-to place for what he needs. He starts to come pretty much every day. Danny asks him out. The rest is history.
That all I can think of at the moment. And I know I don't have everything accurate for service animals so if you know more put more in the comments and feel free to add

You were on Nami and Zoro’s side when it came to whatever was going on in Syrup Village. Kaya’s mansion made you feel vaguely unsettled, and stepping into the building made your heart pound quicker than you would like to admit. But if there was one thing that piqued your interest, it was the order of changing clothes for dinner. You’d been stuck in the same few outfits for weeks now, and the promise of something new—and formal—was nearly exciting, although you’d never admit it in front of Nami and her disapproving gaze.
Kaya’s kindness combined with the private guest room and bath you were treated to helped soothe your nerves. Soon you found yourself being led to the giant closet the rest of the Straw Hats were already in—Nami was trying on various different pieces, and Zoro seemed to have something in hand too.
“Ah, there you are!” Luffy said, swiveling on his heel and giving you a big grin as you entered the room. You stared in disbelief at all of the racks around you. Hell, there were even clothes hanging from the ceiling.
“Well, we certainly have a lot of options,” you said, skimming a hand over a nearby rack. There were a variety of different fabrics, but they all felt expensive: silk and velvet, damasks and brocades. “I don’t even know where to start.”
“I’m just trying on anything,” Nami called from where she was, before stepping out from the room divider she’d been changing behind. She wore an emerald dress with a plunging neckline, the patterned silk clinging to her curves, and did a little spin. “What do you think?”
Luffy shrugged. Zoro wrinkled his nose, barely glancing up from the armchair he was lounging on. “I think it looks nice,” you offered, but Nami still seemed dissuaded.
“Ugh, these two are impossible. What are you going to wear?”
“Uh, I’m getting there,” you said with a little laugh. “It’s a bit overwhelming; I’d rather help you guys pick first. Luffy, have you found something yet?” You turned towards the man in the center of the room, who nodded enthusiastically.
“Yeah, I found this!” He raised up a black waistcoat. You frowned at it.
“Um, Luffy, waistcoats are supposed to be worn with a suit,” you said, then paused, seeing his blank look. “...Never mind.”
“And I’m wearing black,” Zoro added, despite the piece of clothing slung along his lap definitely not being black. You exchanged a glance with Nami, who just rolled her eyes. They’re stupid, she mouthed, then returned to the rack she was glancing through. She worked quickly, pulling out various numbers that she scrutinized before either setting on the couch beside her or putting back.
“Okay,” you said slowly. “Need me to find you some pants with that, Cap?” Nami and Zoro let out identical groans as you spoke the pet name, both turning to give you exasperated looks. You suppressed your laugh.
“Stop calling him that,” Zoro said with a tired sigh. “You’re encouraging him.”
“Kind of the point, yeah,” you said cheerfully. While Zoro and Nami were both still largely unconvinced about the whole pirate crew thing, you’d joined the bandwagon rather quickly. Zoro rolled his eyes, and you turned towards the racks to find Luffy some slacks. “Assumedly you need something other than that shirt too?”
“I’ll look later,” Zoro said passively. You watched him out of your peripheral vision. He was outfitted in a patterned kimono, his three swords slung along his lap. He didn’t seem too interested in his surroundings, though what he was doing, you weren’t sure. You let him be, turning to page through the racks of clothes again. Finally you found a pair of slacks that seemed like they’d fit Luffy.
“Here,” you said, passing them over to him. “And find some shoes while you’re at it.”
“Why does she even have clothes that don’t fit her?” Zoro murmured, sounding as baffled as he could get. “What, she just casually has clothes in all four of our sizes hanging around?”
“Rich people own things just to own them,” Nami called. She’d changed again; this dress had a halter neckline and was blush pink. Zoro motioned with a hand at it, and Nami frowned, glancing down at the dress. “You don’t like it?”
“Eh,” Zoro said. Nami made a face.
“At this point I think you’re hating just to hate.” She pulled up a few more options, narrowing her eyes as she surveyed them. Luffy was seemingly satisfied with what you’d given him, because he took the pieces off of their hangers and slung them over his shoulder.
“I’m off,” he announced. “Gonna go change in my room and do some exploring before dinner. Have fun!” With that, he left, and Nami sighed, turning towards you. She held up her final two options—a red cheongsam with delicate gold embroidery and a pastel blue dress with an a-line skirt. You gnawed on your bottom lip as you studied the two.
“I think the blue one might wash you out a bit,” you said eventually; it’d clash with her hair no doubt, and make her skin look even paler. The shade wasn’t a right match with her eyes, either. “I like the cheongsam; I think you should go with that one. It contrasts nicely with your hair.”
Nami raised up the dress again, inspecting it. “You’re right,” she said, ducking back behind the room divider to change. You started pursuing the racks again; Nami stepped out a few moments later, successfully outfitted in her new dress. “Okay, I’m going to go do my hair in my guest room. Good luck.”
“Bye,” you called, watching as she left the room. You clicked your tongue, almost alone now and with absolutely zero options of clothing. As much as you liked the idea of new clothes, the abundance of options was starting to seem a little daunting. “Okay, now that Nami’s done, it’s my turn to play dress-up.”
Zoro laughed from where he sat, and you startled, almost having forgotten he was there. He was watching you attentively, his attention having diverted from whatever it was he’d been thinking about earlier. “You like this kind of thing?”
“Well, I mean.” You shrugged, peering at a few of the pieces on the rack in front of you. You pulled out a deep green dress, eyeing the lace by the neckline before setting it back. “It’s kind of fun, isn’t it?”
“Not really what I’m into.”
“You wear jewelry, so clearly you have some fashionable instinct,” you pointed out, bending over to glance at the clothes hiding by your knees. These were all skirts or unreasonably short dresses, with so little fabric you were uncertain they would cover anything at all. “Unless the earrings are for another reason…?”
“Three swords, three earrings.”
“Makes sense. What are you wearing with your shirt?” You glanced back to see Zoro’s answer, but he merely shrugged. “Do you want me to find you some trousers? A suit?”
“You don’t need to find clothes for me. I can do that myself.” Still, Zoro made absolutely no move to do so. You rolled your eyes, but turned your attention back on what you’d be wearing for the dinner. Vaguely you wondered how Zoro would look wearing a suit. You flushed almost as soon as the thought popped into your head, shoving it into the very back of your skull and banishing it from seeing the light of day.
“If you say so,” you said instead, mostly to distract yourself from the beyond inappropriate thoughts starting to run through your head. Honestly, you barely knew your crew mates—the four of you were close to tearing each other’s throats out before you ran into Buggy, after all. And the fact that Zoro was, well, conventionally attractive—and you tried to keep your thoughts on that and that alone, anything emotional was strictly out of the question—shouldn’t be something your mind lingered on.
You picked out the first dress that looked to be your size. It was dark purple, backless with a tight trumpet skirt. Ducking behind the room divider Nami had used, you stripped off your clothes, donning the dress. There was a mirror along the other side of the divider, and you turned, trying to appraise the dress on your figure. The color didn’t look entirely right, and you were uneasy about the lack of mobility the skirt might have—Kaya’s staff were still extremely suspicious, after all, and you’d rather be safe than sorry.
“Let me see,” Zoro called from outside. You tugged at the dress, suddenly nervous, but stepped out after you couldn’t find a good enough excuse not to. Zoro’s eyes ran up and down your figure, and you did a slow circle, showing off the dress. The bare skin of your back prickled.
“You’re not going to be able to move in it,” he eventually said.
You huffed out a breath, the nervous energy that had accumulated in your chest leaving with the action. Something in your belly stirred; disappointment, maybe, that Zoro had only commented on the practicality of the dress, not how you looked in it. But you pushed those thoughts away with an angry shove. Not the time, and definitely not the person to be thinking those sorts of things about. “Yeah, that’s what I was worried about. Let me find something else.”
Zoro’s gaze didn’t flicker from your body as you started across the room, ducking between more racks to find something. “You dead-set on a dress?”
“I haven’t worn a dress in a while,” you answered, picking out a red one before remembering Nami’s choice and setting it back. “Might as well take the opportunity.” The next one you pulled was blue, all shiny and soft. The material looked like some kind of tender silk. You set it aside to try on. “Why?”
“Haven’t seen either you or Nami in a dress before.”
“Actually, you have. I’m wearing one right now and Nami tried like five on earlier,” you said, glancing over your shoulder to shoot Zoro an unimpressed look. He scoffed, though there was a smile at the edges of his mouth as he turned his head away. Your next choice was soft pink, and made of tulle that vaguely resembled a puff pastry. You pulled it up. “Think I should try it?”
“I mean, pick whatever,” Zoro said, though he seemed mildly disgusted by the amount of fabric the skirt had, all bunched up with layers like something a ballerina might wear. “What are you trying to achieve with the dress?”
“What am I—I’m trying to look nice, Zoro,” you said, stifling your laughter. You set the pink dress back, replacing it with a sage green number instead. “Not everything has ulterior motives.”
“You always look nice.”
You froze, a soft chill curling around the back of your neck. Carefully, you straightened up from where’d you been bent over yet another rack of clothes, turning to look Zoro in the eye. His eyes hadn’t moved. “Oh,” you managed out, throat all dry and tongue like sandpaper in your mouth. “Well, thank you.”
Zoro cleared his throat, a dull noise he made in the hollow of his throat without even parting his lips. His gaze flickered away. “Yeah. Go try those on.”
Wordlessly, you stepped back behind the room divider and slipped on the blue dress. It had a texture like water—it was some kind of high-end silk, flexible enough that it was near liquid in movement. The dress itself fell to your ankles, and had a simple square neckline. You stepped outside, doing another slow twirl. “Better,” Zoro said.
“Better how?”
“You can probably run in it.”
You twisted your lips, trying to suppress the urge to turn them down into a frown. “Okay. It’s not doing it for me.” You ducked back behind the divider to change yet again; the sage green one was satin, with long sleeves and a neckline you hadn’t anticipated would be that deep.
Still, upon exiting the divider and turning for Zoro again, he didn’t have any worthwhile feedback. “It’s kind of plain,” he said eventually, not meeting your eyes.
You huffed, crossing your arms over your chest; you had to almost resist stomping over to the racks to find something more, and spent another few minutes gathering dresses and trying them on.
To your immense disappointment, each one garnered little to no reaction from Zoro. You even shoved on one of the tiny, too-little fabric dresses you’d disapproved of earlier, but all Zoro did was scan you from head to toe and say, rather flatly, “you’d get stabbed pretty easily in that.”
Frustration bled into your nerves as you hid behind the divider again. You glared at yourself in the mirror—your skin had started flushing with how annoyed you were getting, which might’ve been funny had you not been so ticked off. Men, you thought, irritated. Was it really so hard to tell you that you looked pretty?
He’s a bounty hunter, you had to remind yourself. He doesn’t care about this kind of thing. Besides, he was the last person you should be setting your sights on anyway. You tugged at the short dress, the hem just barely grazing the tops of your thighs.
You heard footsteps approaching from outside the divider, suddenly too close as you snapped yourself out of the reverie of thoughts you’d been lost in. Zoro turned the corner, arm propped up against the divider edge as he peered in, brows furrowed. “You stopped coming out,” he said. He was still in his kimono, swords tossed over one shoulder. The shirt he had was, assumedly, left on the couch he’d finally stood up from.
“I’m frustrated,” you told him blandly. His frown deepened.
“Because of… clothing?”
You suppressed the sigh that threatened to escape your lungs. “Never mind. I’m fresh out of ideas.” You pushed past Zoro, opting to stand in the center of the room as if analyzing it from a different view would magically give you more options. Zoro turned to stare, still looking perplexed. “With so many options, it’s hard to make up my mind, that’s all.”
“Uh huh.” Zoro was still studying you. “Did I do something?”
“What? No,” you said hastily. Too hastily. The words had ripped out of your throat like a hiccup, and you seriously needed to learn how to lie a bit better because now Zoro’s expression was even more confused. “No. Why would I be mad at you?”
“I don’t know. That’s why I’m asking.”
“It’s nothing,” you insisted, turning away from Zoro to stare at some of the clothes hanging on the wall above his head. These were too high up to properly look at, and as you stepped back, you glanced through the dresses hanging off the arch of the ceiling. You perused them without too much interest, eyes glancing over the various colors and fabrics until—
Zoro stepped next to you. “Hey,” he said, and you jolted, head snapping down to look at him. You let out a noise of irritation, then turned your focus back on the ceiling.
Your gaze flickered through the racks until finally falling on one particular dress hanging by the mouth of the room. It was somewhat hidden, tucked in a little corner beside a few other pieces, but from your vantage point it seemed about your size.
You took a step closer to it, surveying it with your neck craned. The material looked soft and comfortable but it still retained shape, and the color—even in the dim lighting of the closet—was one of your favorites. The undertone would suit your skin perfectly. And, well, you didn’t want to put all your bets on one dress you hadn’t even touched, but it was certainly promising.
Zoro stepped past you, barely exerting any effort to reach up and bring the dress down from where it hung up high. “This one, right?” he asked, and you swallowed, some of the annoyances you had towards him dissolving as he extended the dress hanger towards you. You nodded wordlessly, taking it. You stood there for a second before Zoro gestured with his head towards the divider. “Go try it on.”
You did so, retreating safely behind your wall and stepping out of the little dress. You surveyed the one Zoro had grabbed for you again, heart lodged in your throat. It really was beautiful, and exactly your style; now that you saw it up close, you could safely affirm it was your size too, but nervousness still pulsed through your veins at it.
Carefully, you slipped it on, adjusting the fabric around your hips and fixing up the neckline to rest evenly on your skin.
Zoro spoke out from the rest of the room. “So why are you mad at me?”
“I’m not—” you sighed, dropping your arms before returning to fiddle with the dress. “I’m not mad at you.”
“Is it because I wasn’t being helpful with the clothes? Because I already said that’s not exactly my area of expertise—”
“It’s not because of the clothes, Zoro,” you said sharply, cutting him off. Zoro clicked his tongue, the sound reverberating around the room and thudding in time with your heartbeat. You turned your attention back onto your reflection. “It’s just me being silly. Don’t worry about it.”
‘I’m worrying about it,” Zoro deadpanned. You sighed, adjusting the dress one final time before arranging your hair and staring at yourself in the mirror. It fit you perfectly, emphasizing all the right places and hiding all the parts of your body you were more insecure about. “Changed yet?”
“Yeah,” you said, voice limp.
“Let me see.”
You bit your lip, suddenly nervous about how he’d react. Knowing him, it’d be something like it’s okay or the color’s fine; perhaps can you even walk in that? or weird shape if he was feeling a little more critical. Still, you stepped out anyway, not meeting Zoro’s eyes as you spun for him, letting him look at the dress from all angles. When you’d finished posing you glanced up, eyes meeting him tentatively.
“It’s…” Zoro cleared his throat, ripping his gaze away from the dress on your figure to flicker up to your face. His gaze dropped again nearly as fast, like he couldn’t bear to keep eye contact. “Uh.”
“It’s what?” you prompted, turning to face the nearest mirror. Your lips twisted into a worried frown, turning to glance at the dress again. Was it really not as perfect as you’d thought originally? “Do you like it? It’s my favorite so far, I think, but if you don’t like it—”
“You look pretty in that,” Zoro blurted, cutting your rambles off with the strident, too-loud sentence. You froze, eyes flickering to meet him in the mirror. Carefully, he glanced up at you, and you could see his Adam’s apple bob as he swallowed hard.
“Oh.”
Zoro coughed, averting his gaze as you slowly turned around to face him. You couldn’t see properly with the less-than-ideal lighting of the room, but his face seemed to have taken on a ruddier complexion. “I like it,” he said, words softer than they’d been before. “It’s the one.”
There was a little rush of something through your veins, and you felt vaguely lightheaded. “Okay,” you barely managed to squeak out. “Thanks.” You stumbled back behind the divider, sucking in a deep breath and trying to regulate your breathing. God, this was actually shameful at this point.
You composed yourself quickly, gathering all the dresses you’d tried on and abandoned to return to their proper places. Zoro was still watching you attentively, and you glanced over your shoulder at him. Sparks prickled along your skin as your eyes met. “What?” you asked.
“You’re acting weird.”
“Am not.”
Zoro stood up, rolling back his shoulders and stretching his head from side to side. He glanced through the racks and, without even a minute’s hesitation, plucked a suit jacket and matching pants out from beside him. “Yeah, you are. What’s up?”
“You’re just grabbing those without thinking about it?” you demanded, eager to change the subject. Zoro rolled his eyes.
“I picked them like fifteen minutes ago,” he said. “Just didn’t grab them until you were done your whole… thing. Now spill it. You’re all red again.”
You swiveled towards the closest mirror, unable to suppress your gape as you saw that your skin had indeed turned a distinctive shade of scarlet, flushed undertones creeping their way up your skin. It was entirely recognizable even in the terrible lighting. Even your skin was treacherous, now. “Nothing,” you muttered, unable to meet Zoro’s eyes as you spit it out. “I was annoyed because you weren’t telling me what you thought of the dresses.”
“I… did, though?” Zoro said, perplexed. You let out a grating sigh, cheeks flaring even hotter now that he was forcing you to confess the entire extent of your sins.
“Yeah, like, practically,” you said, wrapping your arms defensively over your chest. “You’ll get stabbed in that so easily. You won’t be able to walk. I just wanted you to tell me that—” you cut yourself off with another groan. “Don’t make me say it.”
Zoro blinked. “I have no idea what you’re edging towards, so you’re going to have to say it.”
“I just wanted you to tell me I looked nice!” you finally burst out, turning so you wouldn’t have to look at Zoro’s face. God, you were going to have to quit the Straw Hats after this. It was so entirely stupid.
“But—” There was a laugh in Zoro’s voice, and you glared down at the floor, all of your dignity having left you by this point. You had no shame left to feel anymore. “I said ‘you always look nice’. Doesn’t that insinuate—”
“That’s not the point,” you said hotly, tone almost argumentative now. “I wanted you to think I looked pretty in a dress, Zoro.”
Zoro didn’t respond for a moment, brows creasing and face taking on a baffled expression. “But why—” Zoro cut himself off, and you turned even redder, holding your breath as he finally connected the dots. A single word fell from his lips, like a soft breath of air as he spoke. “Oh.”
“Oh,” you muttered under your breath, unable to stop the almost whining tone your voice took on. Zoro stepped closer to you, a hand wrapping around your wrist and forcing you to look up at him.
“I said you looked pretty in this one.”
“I know,” you insisted, still all red, “which is why I’m not totally mad at you, but—”
“You looked pretty in all of them,” Zoro said. He didn’t look bashful, per se—you didn’t think Zoro could get shy—but his voice was low, all hoarse in a more tentative way rather than one of his grating remarks this time. “For the record.”
Your breath caught.
“This one’s my favorite, though,” Zoro muttered. And then he was leaning down to kiss you, the ghost of his lips just on the corner of your mouth. You gaped up at him in shock as he averted his gaze, staring at some spot about your head. “Was that—” he started, before clearing his throat and trying again with a little more of his dignity this time. “Was that okay?”
“Yes,” you blurted fervently, and before you could fix up the moment with something more, well, suitable, your big mouth ruined it for you. “But I think we’re holding up dinner. You should get changed, and I still need to find shoes.”
You bit your tongue immediately after the words had been said, but it was too late—Zoro coughed, turning away from you. You panicked, and now it was your turn to grab his arm and tug you towards him. “Wait!”
Zoro glanced down at you, perplexed, and then you leaned up to kiss him square on the mouth. He stumbled back, surprised, but adjusted quickly, hand going to cradle the back of your neck and pressing you right to him before you finally broke apart.
“You should steal it,” he started. You stared up at him in question. “The dress, I mean. You should steal it.”
“When am I ever going to need to wear this again?” you asked, perplexed. Zoro shrugged, fingers tugging at the edge of the dress's neckline.
“Dunno. Just take it. She probably won’t even notice.”
“You’re adorable,” you teased; Zoro wrinkled his nose but didn’t complain, opting instead to move away and pick up the clothes he still hadn’t changed into. “Go change. See you at dinner.”
“Yeah,” Zoro said, his eyes not straying from your figure as you ducked out of the room. Before you could fully leave, though, Zoro grabbed your wrist, spinning you around towards him.
You didn’t have enough time to ask what he was doing when he leaned around to kiss you one final time, his hands cradling your face as your lips moved against each other. It was only a moment later that he stepped away, looking rather sheepish but not very apologetic as he finally let you go.
“You look more than pretty,” he murmured, eyes sinking into yours, and your throat dried, any words you might’ve formed dying away within seconds. “You always look more than pretty. You look gorgeous.”
“Thank you,” you whispered, and then he ducked back inside the closet to change.

Note
Just scrolled through to find where everyone was getting these prompts from, so I'm finally jumping on the bandwagon with:
“They didn't deserve you.”
@cecilyv said Buck talking to kitchen utensils, and then I went looking for new casserole pans, and I always think Tommy deserves a little bit of S1 Buck, who was not called firehose because he's a firefighter, and this happened.
***************
“They didn't deserve you.”
He bakes in his kitchen until he can’t stand being in his loft anymore.  Can’t stand looking at the spaces that Tommy had just started to fill, the spaces where he’d started to imagine Tommy always being.
Packs up flour and sugar and eggs and butter and goes to Maddie and Chim’s.  Bakes in their kitchen until he knows he’s overstaying his welcome.  Although Jee at least will love him as long as he keeps making pancakes and muffins for breakfast.
He doesn’t realize he’s taken their citrus squeezer until he’s baking at home again. Uses it to squeeze lemons for lemon poppy seed loaf, and limes for lime curd to go with the pavlovas he makes.  Chim asks if there’s a new baked good for every time Tommy bubbles him, and Buck conveniently forgets that it’s Chim’s citrus squeezer to begin with.
And then it’s been a month, and it’d be weird to take it back now.  Besides, it’s better than the one he has, and it’s a cheerful bright lime green color, and he likes the way it looks against his white tiles and white counters.  It’s possible, he considers, that Tommy had a point when he said that the loft was a bachelor pad.  Nobody with kids, with a family, lives somewhere this nondescript. Like there’s not a real person who lives here.
He buys new casserole pans with flower patterns on them just because he thinks they’re pretty.  Wonders if this makes him gay enough for Tommy -- mentally kicks himself, that’s such a cliche; Tommy would hate that.  Buys new dishes – fiestaware in bright yellows and reds and teals.
Goes on a spree over President’s Day weekend.  Buys throw pillows and new sheets and a new comforter.  Nothing white.  Nothing black.  Nothing even grey.
He’d never really thought before that he was trying to say something, or not say something with the way he decorated his loft.  Mostly he hadn’t thought about it all.  Ali had set the stage when she helped him furnish it, all he’d done in the years since is try not to mess it up.
He messes it up now.  Buys things because they spark fucking joy.  Calls May and asks if she wants to go flea market shopping with him.  Comes home with an afghan made of granny squares in soft blues and yellows and pinks.
Tommy never sees any of it.  Obviously not in the loft, but also not in Eddie’s house, all still safely packed away into boxes.
Doesn’t see it until he’s helping him unpack in his new place.  One that’s all his.  One he picked on purpose, for himself.  If Tommy has thoughts about the shift in his personal aesthetic he keeps them to himself.
Doesn’t say anything until Buck’s making him dinner – the least he can do for helping him move, and if Buck would rather it was breakfast he was making Tommy, well they’re trying to move slower this time, and he thinks they’ll get there.
He’s moving around the kitchen, talking to himself, which is another new habit he’s picked up since Tommy last sat at his kitchen counter and sipped wine while Buck cooked.
He murmurs to his new stove, “come on, nice and gentle, just a simmer please, no scorching the sauce,” because it’s electric and temperamental as hell, and he’s springing for an induction stove as soon as he can afford to.
Mutters to the citrus squeezer, “Where are you now?  Are you hiding in here?”
Startles when Tommy says, amused and fond, “Do they talk back to you?  Have you gone full Beauty and the Beast?  Should I be worried the wardrobe is judging me?”
He snorts, holds up the citrus squeezer triumphantly, unearthed from where it had gotten trapped under the bench scraper.
“It is…very neon.”  Tommy says diplomatically.  Tilts his head.  “Which errant villager got turned into that, do you think?”
“The gay one,” he deadpans, and Tommy snorts.  Let it sit a beat, because there’d been an element of truth there, and then says, “I think Jee chose it during her green phase.” They both wince at the assault on their eyeballs Bobby’s room had been. “But you’re too good for them, aren’t you?” Buck croons to the squeezer that sits in his hand idly, not answering. “They didn’t deserve you.”
“So you stole it from your sister,” Tommy concludes.  Buck nods, goes back to his fish.  “She won’t miss it?”
“Oh, Madddie would never go looking through my kitchen drawers.”
Tommy stares at him. Buck stares back, then can’t help it — smirks a little. Tommy’s eyes drop to his lips, just for a second, and Buck thinks, yeah, they’re gonna make it this time.  Tommy catches him watching, doesn’t bother to pretend he wasn't, and rubs his temples. “She found your ring cutter didn’t she?”
Buck laughs and nods.

dude they're fucking back. the person who started this whole ai stuff
I'm tired of getting embarrassed from people's actions ya know?
"ai list part 2?" SERIOUSLY BITCH?! SERIOUSLY??? Go fuck urself pls.. I'm tired of everything. Thankfully her bullshit doesn't bother me, but it affects my reputation among my followers.. let alone the other writers, some of these writers are minors, and others are dealing with mental or physical health issues. A few were already in a really fragile place, and this kind of shitty public shaming and harassment has pushed some of them into dangerous, even suicidal, mental states.
These accusations have caused massive waves of hate. People jumped on the bandwagon and went after those writers, tearing them apart online. This goes beyond just FUCKIN calling someone out. It’s a damn targeted harassment. It’s creating a fucking toxic, unsafe ass environment. It’s encouraging others to pile on and attack people who are just trying to write, create, and simply exist.
The most thing that got my nerves out was that this bitch had an acc where this whole thing started but it either got deleted or taken down. Now they’ve come back with a NEW DAMN ACCOUNT and are continuing the same hurtful behavior instead of stopping.
That's the bad thing. Knowing that I and the writers didn't do any wrong while this girl keep moaning like a New York City whore gets my shit out.. so cringe.
Tbh it's been 2 days since I did my surgery, and the complications are giving me enough to deal with, I don't think that I have the energy to deal with these childish acts.
@vintagedressesanddaydreams you're a bitch, pls grow up while I'm asking you politely, cuz girl if I decided to come after you.. oh trust me, you flicked a match thinking you’d watch me flare. But you lit a forest. And damn know it’s coming for everything.

Yo WETV,
I have the perfect pitch for SmartBoom's next project (and y'all need to start shooting right now because we needed that new stuff YESTERDAY)
Ah, I see you inserted that buddy-cop bromance, "Akina", in Top Form, huh?
Tumblr media
Well y'all ain't slick, 'cause I know EXACTLY what bromance you were referring to:
Tumblr media
Please just do a proper BL remake of Beyond Evil. Both Smart and Boom fit the age gap (although Boom looks quite youthful, but STILL), AND their dynamic would work so well on this. Boom has the acting chops for a broody, desperate Lee Dong-sik character, and Smart's boyish charm and enthusiam is a shoe-in for the know-it-all upstart cop Han Joo-won. Dear God, I can envision the rain confession scene already!
Hmm, not a fan? Well, if that doesn't work for you, I know one THAT WILL.
Tumblr media
Oh look at this Untamed-esque bromance. Hmm, "Legend of Gemini", huh? WeTV, trying to jump back into the danmei bandwagon, I see. But this looks QUITE FAMILIAR, WeTV. It looks like the CRIME you committed when you scrapped the airing of:
Tumblr media
Immortality (it's been 84 years).
For our friends who've never heard of this before, THIS is a live-action adaptation of danmei The Husky and his White Cat Shizun, about a disciple who used to admire his Master, but turns to the dark arts and attacks his former sect once his Master seemingly betrays him.
Shooting was completed the year after Untamed started airing (circa 2019). After passing the first round of censorship in China, the series was greenlit for a prospective early 2021 release. Fast forward 2025, AND THEY NEVER RELEASED IT. Some reports say it was axed due to censorship concerns, others because of the backlash that hounded the actors of the Untamed after the release of their series; whatever the case, all we have left now are these glorious BTS pics:
Tumblr media
So ya'know what WeTV? I'm taking a stand here. Give it to SmartBoom. Make it a proper BL. Intermingle elements from Chinese and Thai cultures. For pete's sake, you already have the costumes!
Tumblr media
Boom speaks Mandarin! Smart can do graceful poses and perform the flowy fight scenes--he's a professional dancer! And the best thing about these two, they're both down to do the NCs included in the original material-- they've proven it in Top Form!
WeTV, honey (pun intended), please get to work right now. If you're good, we won't give it to Viki.
Honestly, at this point please make Smart and Boom an official couple. These two are absolutely KILLING their roles in Top Form and their chemistry and dynamic are ON FIRE; I can't wait to see them nail other storylines (and possibly, each other onscreen).

I can fix him (no really I can)
They shake their heads saying, "God help her" When I tell them he's my man But your good Lord doesn't need to lift a finger I can fix him, no, really I can And only I can
college!matt murdock x fem!reader | fluff— a whole lotta fluff | sorta friends to lovers? | fic from reader's pov, then a pov switch to third person
Matt Murdock famously doesn't stick around for longer than a month, tops. You were determined to change that.
Pre-law golden boy with an aura that exudes confidence, Matt was the person everyone either wanted to be, or wanted to be with. He knew that, and his faux modesty only made it worse for the masses desperate to get a piece of him. Am I one of—? Please, I'd fuck a tree before I fuck Matt Murdock. Not that I hate him or anything. I'm just not on the bed anyone with abs and a personality bandwagon. Good for him for all that attention he's getting, but my ties with him start and end in class. He's just a classmate.
Okay, maybe not just a classmate.
We share notes. Sometimes. Only when he forgets his, which is rare, because apparently being hot and capable is a combo this man insists on wielding like a goddamn weapon. Once, he offered to buy me coffee as a thank you and I made the mistake of saying yes. We ended up talking for an hour. One hour. And somehow I left that conversation knowing his middle name, his favourite diner his dad used to take him to, and exactly what kind of espresso he drinks before a big exam.
It was fine. It’s fine. People have conversations all the time. I’m not spiraling.
We became friends. Real ones. That was the problem.
Because here’s the thing: Matt Murdock is a disaster.
Not on paper. No— on paper, he’s perfect. He’s top of the class, charming when he wants to be, a little cocky, but in a way that makes you laugh instead of wanting to push him down the stairs.
But spend enough time around him and you start to notice things.
Like how he never lets anyone get close. Like how he flirts with half the campus but every single one of his flings ends in vague silence and awkward glances the next day. Like how he knows exactly how to listen to someone but refuses to let anyone hear him.
It’s not a red flag. It’s a goddamn red parade.
So of course I did what any completely normal person with an ounce of self-preservation would do.
I caught feelings for that bastard.
Of course, it's the emotionally unavailable mess with enough red flags to decorate a fucking carnival that catches my attention. Just my goddamn luck.
And, in a moment of sheer lunacy, decided I could fix him.
No really, I could. Just needed time. And patience. And maybe a crowbar for emotional extraction. Whatever. I’ve done harder things. If I can survive Mr Vasquez's class, I can survive whatever this is.
I just have to make sure he never finds out I like him. And also make him like me back. And maybe heal years of trust issues in the process.
Easy, right?
Well, it wasn’t.
Because what started as some deranged attempt to break into the fortress that is Matt Murdock turned into something else entirely. We became friends. Real friends. Somewhere along the way, it stopped being about fixing him and started being about just… being there.
And God help me, I think he needed that more than anything.
It wasn’t just me and Matt anymore, either. Foggy came into the picture fast— bright-eyed, effortlessly funny, with an incredible ability to sniff out bullshit in under five seconds. The three of us? Unstoppable. Study sessions, lunch breaks, late-night coffee runs before an exam. They were my people.
So yeah. The plan backfired. Spectacularly. But I had friends for life now, so I couldn’t exactly call it a failure.
It didn’t mean it stopped hurting, though.
Matt’s life… it wasn’t easy. I could see it in the way he shut down when he was overwhelmed, how he buried himself in work instead of letting anyone in. Some nights he looked like he hadn’t slept in weeks, but he’d still crack a joke just to make Foggy laugh.
And when he was with other women— when he flirted like it was a language only he spoke— it hurt. Even when I told myself I didn’t have a right to feel that way. He wasn’t mine. I made sure of that.
I’d smile through it. Tease him, even. Make some stupid quip about his tragic taste in women and let the ache settle where no one could see it.
Except Foggy noticed.
He always does.
One afternoon— study session turned snack break in our usual booth— Foggy caught me staring too long. Matt was across the room talking to a girl from one of our electives, charming smile and all.
“You okay?” he asked, nudging me with his elbow.
I blinked. “Yeah. Fine.”
“You sure? Because that definitely wasn’t your ‘fine’ face. That was your ‘I’m swallowing feelings and pretending to be emotionally stable’ face.”
I sighed, resting my chin on my palm. “He’s not doing anything wrong.”
“That’s not what I asked.”
I turned to him. “Foggy, I’m not gonna pull a dramatic ‘what are we’ in the middle of a group project. Matt may be a lot of things, but you really cannot force him to be something he doesn’t want to be.”
Foggy frowned. “But do you think he doesn’t want—?”
“Matt would probably suck at relationships,” I said, more tired than bitter. “Like, actual long-term ones. He likes the chase, he likes the moment. And that’s fine. He’s allowed to live how he wants. I just… I’m happy being his friend. Genuinely. Give it time. I’ll get over it.”
Foggy was quiet for a second. “That was… wildly mature.”
“Yeah well, personal growth is a bitch.”
He grinned. “Still. If it helps, he’s not as smooth as he thinks.”
I snorted. “No, but he is absurdly pretty. That makes up for a lot.”
We let the topic die after that. I figured that was the end of it.
I didn’t know Matt had heard.
—————————————————————————————————
Third Person POV
Matt had only come back for his notebook.
He hadn’t meant to eavesdrop. He hadn’t meant to hear that.
But he had.
He stopped just shy of the hallway corner, heart thudding loud in his chest. The way her voice dropped when she said “I’ll get over it.”
The words hit harder than he expected.
She thought he’d be a bad boyfriend.
Worse— she didn’t even think he was worth trying.
And Matt knew— he knew— he hadn’t been great. He had a lot on his plate, a whole goddamn feast of mess, but he never once thought she saw him like that. Not undeserving.
She didn’t know he stayed up wondering what it’d feel like to kiss her. For real. Without laughing it off or playing it cool. She didn’t know how often his fingers hovered near hers and didn’t reach. How badly he wanted to.
But if she thought he wasn’t capable of it? Of loving her the way she deserved?
He had to change that.
Not just for her. For him. For the version of himself he wanted to be—the kind that could love someone, openly and fully, without messing it up.
“Jesus,” Foggy muttered when he saw Matt later that night. “You look like you saw a ghost. Or rather... felt a ghost? I don't know, man.”
“I heard something,” Matt said, collapsing onto his bed, voice low.
“Define ‘something.’”
“(Y/N) said I’d be a bad boyfriend.”
Foggy blinked. “Okay. Context?”
Matt dragged a hand over his face. “She was talking to you. In the booth. Earlier.”
Foggy raised his brows. “You, uh, you were there?”
“I forgot my notebook.”
Foggy held up his hands. “Alright, okay. First off— she didn’t say you’d be a bad boyfriend. She said you’d probably suck at steady relationships. Big difference.”
“Is it?”
“Yeah, because you’ve never tried a steady relationship. Which is kind of the point.”
Matt groaned. “I need to fix this.”
Foggy stared. “Okay, I’m gonna need you to walk me through your version of fixing this.”
Matt sat up. “I’m gonna prove her wrong.”
Foggy blinked. “You’re gonna… ask her out?”
“No,” Matt said quickly. “I mean— yes. Eventually. But first I need to become the kind of guy she thinks could be a good boyfriend. You know. Change her mind.”
Foggy pinched the bridge of his nose. “Jesus Christ. Just fuck already.”
Matt frowned. “What?”
Foggy threw his hands in the air. “You like her. She likes you. I have seen you two. Why do you think you want her to stay longer after we're done studying? Why do you think you linger? Why do you think you bring her coffee and save her a seat and remember her deadlines better than your own?”
Matt opened his mouth. Nothing came out.
“She fell first, you fell harder,” Foggy said, like it was the most obvious thing in the world. “You know the drill, man.”
Matt stared.
“…Oh.”
“Yeah. Oh. My brother in Christ, you’re in love.”
Matt exhaled.
“…Shit.”
——————————————————————————————————
Matt didn’t sleep that night.
He lay awake, headphones in, a lecture playing that he didn’t hear, the words echoing over and over again in his head.
“She fell first.”
“You fell harder.”
He didn’t even realize when it happened. Somewhere between her snorting at his awful Latin puns and handing him half her sandwich because he forgot to eat again— he’d fallen. And now she thought he was incapable of loving her the way she deserved.
It felt like a punch to the chest.
But instead of wallowing, he decided to do something.
Starting now.
The next morning, Matt showed up to your apartment with coffee. Your exact order. No text beforehand. No heads-up.
You opened the door in pajama shorts and a hoodie, one sock on and a pen still tucked behind your ear.
“Matt?”
He held up the coffee like it was a peace offering. “You mentioned your 9 a.m. was with Vasquez today. I figured you’d need a hit of caffeine and a minor miracle.”
You blinked. “…That’s weirdly thoughtful of you.”
He smiled. “I’ve been working on that.”
And then he left. Just like that.
No flirting. No lingering.
Just… left.
You stared after him, cup in hand, completely thrown.
It didn’t stop there.
Matt started walking you to class. All the time.
Not just when you happened to be heading the same direction. On purpose.
He’d show up at your building with some excuse— “I needed air,” or “Foggy wasn’t ready yet”— and fall into step beside you like it was routine.
Then came the favors. Printing your notes when the Wi-Fi was down. Fixing the broken strap on your bag. Letting you drag him to that awful late-night diner when you were too wired to sleep.
You didn’t get it.
This wasn’t how Matt Murdock operated.
Matt Murdock flirted, ghosted, and moved on.
This? This was effort.
It was also torture.
Because the more he did it, the more you started to hope. Stupid, dangerous hope. Maybe he did like you. Maybe this wasn’t one-sided after all.
But every time you thought about asking, about saying something— he’d flash that same unreadable smile and change the subject.
So you kept your mouth shut. Kept watching. Waiting.
Hoping.
Meanwhile, Foggy was losing his mind.
“You can’t just— Matt, you cannot boyfriend her without telling her.”
Matt frowned, folding his arms. “I thought this was the part where I prove myself.”
“To who? To her? She already likes you. You’re not proving anything except that you’re allergic to communication.”
“I’m building a foundation.”
Foggy looked pained. “You’re building a bad sitcom plot. Just tell her.”
Matt hesitated. “She said she didn’t want that. She said she’d get over me.”
Foggy sighed so hard, his soul probably left his body.
“Matt. Listen to me. She said that because she didn’t think she could have you. You have ghosted every girl before her, remember?”
Matt winced. “Not every—”
“Every.”
“…Fair.”
Foggy ran a hand down his face. “You’re gonna lose her if you don’t speak up.”
Matt didn’t respond.
Because deep down, he knew it was true.
——————————————————————————————————
It started with Foggy texting you.
Which was already suspicious, because Foggy never texted first unless Matt was—
foggy: hey can you swing by the quad after class?
foggy: matt’s planning something
foggy: i’m scared :,)
Now, when someone like Foggy— sweet, unshakeable, usually-down-for-anything Foggy— is scared, you listen. You changed your route and headed toward the quad.
And promptly stopped dead in your tracks.
Because what the hell were you looking at.
Matt Murdock stood on a bench.
On a goddamn bench. In broad daylight. Holding what looked like a beat-up portable speaker above his head like he was channelling John Cusack in Say Anything.
Button-down rolled to the elbows. Hair tousled like it’d been run through about seven too many times. Foggy was standing off to the side looking like he was actively regretting every life decision that brought him here.
“Oh no,” you whispered. “Oh no.”
A group of students was already watching, phones half-raised. Matt didn’t seem to care.
You watched, frozen, as he raised a hand and cleared his throat. Actually cleared his throat. Like he was about to deliver a valedictorian speech. You saw Foggy mutter don’t do it, like a prayer.
Matt did it anyway.
“I, uh… I know this is weird,” he began, voice carrying over the quad, “but I have something to say. Something important.”
The crowd murmured. A few giggles. One guy yelled “Murdock, you proposing?” which earned a sharp shut up from someone else. Foggy, probably.
Matt ignored it. His face was dead serious. “There’s someone I’ve been an idiot about. Someone smart and stubborn and too good to waste time on someone like me. But she did anyway. She does. And if she’s here—” his head turned slightly “— I want her to know I’m sorry. And that I like her. A lot.”
You blinked.
Foggy made frantic eye contact with you from the sidelines and mouthed stop him.
But you couldn’t move. Couldn’t breathe.
Matt continued. “I was scared, okay? I thought I’d ruin it. Ruin her. But then I realized I’d rather screw up trying to be with her than let her go without even trying. So, (Y/N),” he called, voice way too confident for a man committing this level of social suicide. “This one’s for you.”
A soft click, followed by the unmistakable synthy intro of Truly Madly Deeply by Savage Garden.
Savage. Fucking. Garden.
You clapped a hand over your mouth.
Someone nearby went “What is happening?”
Matt? he looked hopeful.
And you— stupid, stunned, wildly endeared— were just about to take a step forward when—
Cue the sprinkler system turning on.
Every. Single. Sprinkler.
They sputtered, then blasted to life across the quad like a synchronized ambush. A collective scream rose as people scrambled away, books and phones held over heads.
Matt? Got hit square in the chest, earning a strained Jesus from him.
Foggy somewhere in the periphery muttering “I told him” like a man in mourning.
You? Soaked. Wide-eyed. Laughing.
You actually had to cover your mouth, you were laughing so hard.
Matt stepped down, water dripping from his sleeves. He looked around like he was being personally smitten by the gods. It was like the universe waited for maximum dramatic tension just to drop the punchline.
The song cut out with a strangled sputter as the speaker died a wet, heroic death. Students screamed. Matt cursed under his breath as he was immediately soaked. Foggy, who had clearly seen this coming, was already power-walking toward the nearest tree, muttering “I’m too pretty for this.”
You stood there in shock as water poured down on everyone.
And then— you burst out laughing.
You couldn’t help it. Couldn’t stop it. You doubled over, drenched, laughing so hard it echoed louder than the chaos around you.
Matt stood on the bench, blinking water from his lashes, the speaker dangling uselessly from one hand. He looked like a wet, confused puppy. A hot wet confused puppy. Weird analogy. But still.
You pushed your hair from your eyes and walked over, completely soaked.
“This was your grand romantic gesture?” you asked between giggles.
He ran a hand down his face, sopping. “It was supposed to be better.”
You looked up at him, the pathetic speaker still crackling faintly in his grip. “It was absolutely ridiculous.”
A pause.
You smiled. “It was perfect.”
Foggy squelched up behind you both. “Okay, you’ve both had your romcom moment, can I go home now? My socks are... squishy.”
Matt turned to him, still trying to catch his breath. “Thanks for… whatever part you played in this.”
“I want that thank you in writing,” Foggy muttered. “And a refund for emotional distress.”
You turned back to Matt.
“Do I get to keep the boombox?”
He grinned. “It’s mostly water now. But sure.”
You took a slow step closer. “So… boyfriend material yet?”
He reached out— careful, gentle— and brushed a piece of wet hair behind your ear. “Getting there.”
And then you kissed him.
In the middle of the quad. Soaked to the bone. Surrounded by students who definitely started applauding and whistling, because of course they did.
When you finally pulled back, breathless, Foggy just shook his head.
“Seriously. I hate you both.”
You smiled at him. “Love you too, Fog.”
And Matt?
Well, he didn’t run.
Not this time.
a/n: alright so the fic took a detour from what i had originally planned, it was going to be angst, reader was going to be fwb with matt, and well it's a whole thing, a lot of changes happened but i didn't change the title because well i got attached. i know it doesn't really make sense now with how the story turned out, but i'm leaving it in the story anyway, hope you liked it!
