For anyone who missed when I talked about this, I’m organizing a low stakes mini zine for princess tutu. Soley because our tag is SO EMPTY rn and I want to generate an event in the fandom.

Planning for a tentative release in September so it can be like a fun summer tutu event but I’m workshopping this with a friend who knows more about zines than I do—release date can be pushed back if needed.

Any and all contributors are welcome (since it’ll be a pdf I don’t foresee needing a set page count so anything goes) though I will be checking in with everyone to make sure their pitches are appropriate for the zine (and by that I mean do NOT make me look at the teenagers having hardcore sex pls and thank you)

Feel free to send me your ideas on how to make this a fun event for everyone. Whether that’s gamifying it by like assigning people teams or giving out silly rewards (I desperately want to make an ultimate #fakirgirl badge/sticker for our bravest soldiers) or I don’t know, making themed sections of the zine so we have a part where people say pick a fairytale they like to theme their piece around. We’re in the planning phase so no idea is a bad idea

hey im planning to switch over to linux and need advice from the smart people of tumblr, please and thank you. my messages are open so if you need any info to help me out hmu.

General Questions:

im seeing everyone saying ubuntu, mint, and ziron are "the #1 go to versions for beginners" but like... which is it?

i also hear about security being the best with linux but nothing about it coming with antiviruses. does it come with one like how windows comes with defender or do you install that yourself, or is it something different entirely?

all the sources i look at talk about downloading and installing linux but i want to know what to expect when first getting a prebuilt pc with the OS, like the system 76 pcs. do you have to set it up like when you install it or is it as easy as getting any new computer?

i know nothing about coding and im planning to get a computer from system 76 since it seems like the best, and its by far the only source that only comes with linux, and since my current one was pretty much ruined by someone i thought could fix it after a faulty outlet fried its insides, he didnt and made it worse.

so yeah, which linux version do you suggest for a computer moron, any suggestions for computers would be nice (max price is $1,300), i'll put the specs and my uses under the read more.

Preferences:

It ONLY comes with Linux. I despise what Windows has become and don't want to even bother dual booting cause I feel with the switchovers happening they're gonna get salty and make something that'll turn your computer into a bomb if you use Linux with it.

Kinda beefy but not a supercomputer. I don't use AI stuff, I'm not a programmer, but I do frequently play modded Minecraft with my friends and run smps for my Discord servers. I recently switched to Modrinth cause ATLauncher had been giving me trouble. Curseforge is out of the question.

At the most, I'll be playing VRChat with friends while having Spotify or Youtube in the background for music and Discord open in case someone needs my help in one of my servers, similar goes for running one of my SMPs just minus the VR.

Gaming Questions:

I also play VR games often, especially BeatSaber (modded ofc im not insane), and I have Half Life Alyx that I haven't been able to finish cause my already dead and gutted PC struggles to run it anymore even with the lowest settings. My current headset is a two feet in the grave, barely hanging in there, held by tape Oculus Rift S thats as old as my current PC whos also dead. I plan to get a new headset soon and had the Quest 2 recommended to me by friends. If theres better alternatives that isn't Meta please let me know.

I'm a DBD addict. Does it really run DBD or was that just the one guy from the one video I saw.

My friends also often drag me onto Roblox so I need to know if that'll be an option for Linux too.

I know I could probably look up all this myself but every source is outdated from years ago or they all say different things and it just confuses me.

Art Questions:

My current tablet is a Wacom, I got it before knowing how greedy the company actually is, and I plan to switch to a Huion after this tablet dies on me. If compatibility is an issue with it please let me know what to do about that.

I usually use Medibang but I don't think it runs on Linux from what I've seen, if I'm wrong lemme know. Am I going to have to switch all the files over to something else before getting a Linux or are there programs I can use that'll load them?

I also write and need to know if I need to switch all my files to something else before porting it all over to the Linux PC. I just used the default notepad and document programs on Windows.

But yeah, that's all my questions for now. If I think of any more I'll just edit this post. Sorry if I sound super dumb for all this, I tried finding information sources myself but like I said all of them weren't too moron friendly or had relevant information. “oh man, look at those lights!!”

 you glance over to your boyfriend as he runs over to a large display of christmas decorations and lights. swiftly, you follow behind to catch up. the display is exquisite. illuminating the people watching, the assortment of lights gave character to the objects they represent, from kids’ characters to iconic christmas icons, you felt as if you were in a trance.

        you turn your head to face tendou. like you, he was memorized by the lights, face relaxed with awe and contentment. little puffs of air released from his mouth after each breath. he grinned before turning to you.

        “you see that there? if you look closely, each light is in the shape of a snowflake…they’re all unique, but they come together to create something so beautiful.” as he finishes, he looks straight into your eyes. “kinda like us in a way, no?” quickly, his demeanor changes back into something that of cheerful, and grabs your hand, pulling you away to see the other displays.

        after a quick trip to your local target, you had a plan set and ready to go to surprise tendou. setting a small stool right near the window of your shared apartment, you reach for the ceiling, planting small hooks. soon after, you grab the small christmas lights that you purchased earlier and begin to place them on top of the hooks. to your dismay, you couldn’t keep them from slipping and ultimately falling. you could only groan as you lean your head back in annoyance.

        “do you need help hanging up the christmas lights?” a cocky voice says behind you. coming as a surprise, you gasp and lose footing before almost falling. luckily, tendou reaches out and catches you by the arms.

        “woah there, i thought you already fell for me last winter.” he chuckles.

        “haha, very funny…” you chuckle and roll your eyes. he looks at you before tilting his head. “so what were you doing with the lights?”

you sigh and respond, “i wanted to do something nice y’know? you looked so fascinated by the lights the other day. i just wanted to see that again.” a blanket of silence filled the room. tendou slowly wraps his arms around yourself. he brings his head closer to your level, mouth dangerously close to your ear.

 “i appreciate the thought, but i’m just much more fascinated by you… the light of my life.” you couldn’t help but melt even further into his touch. the lights left ignored, you and tendou just take in this moment. 

tendou pushes himself away before asking with a grin, “wanna watch that christmas anime special?”

        “sure… i’d like that.”

a somewhat comprehensive performance guide for the sims 3

what it says on the tin. i’m sticking everything under the cut to avoid clogging everyone’s dash because, hoo boy, this is a looong post

welcome to my kitchen, and hopefully i can help you get your game to run a bit better!

first, if you haven’t already, make sure to launch your game (i recommend just bg so it loads quickly) and check if you need to change your graphics settings. if you’re on windows and would like to play your game in windowed fullscreen: 

download and install this program (it’s safe, i promise)

open the program and you should get a notification that it’s running in your tray

with ts3 open (in it’s windowed mode), click on your tray and right click on the program’s icon, then select Add window

go back to ts3′s window and press F3 on your keyboard. you should get a notification that ts3 has been added to the program’s list, and you’re done!

you’ll also need an fps limiter to prevent the game from frying your video card. i use this one, set at 60fps. alternatively, you can download MATY’s fps limiter and place it in your game’s bin. (The Sims 3/Game/Bin)

is your game crashing on startup? check your DEP settings or try using 3booter.

some tips to help your game run better

have as few programs as possible running while ts3 is open.

run a 4gb patch on your game. download this, run the .exe, select the game’s executable (The Sims 3/Game/Bin/TS3W.exe for patch 1.69 or TS3.exe for patch 1.67), and click open. you’ll get a pop up saying it’s patched. please note that your computer needs to have over 2gb of RAM for this! (most do, but do check how much RAM you have!)

if you’d rather increase how much RAM the game uses yourself, follow this tutorial.

download razer game booster. this frees up some memory on your computer to increase performance.

check how much virtual memory your pc is using. follow this tutorial.

delete cache files. the game will generate new ones every time you open the game, so make sure to delete the following files before running the game: CASPartCache, compositorCache, scriptCache, simCompositorCache, socialCache. these files are found in Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3.

if you’re on pc, delete your WoldCaches folder. not everyone will have this folder, and the game may also regenerate the folder. (mine didn’t regenerate the folder, but it’s happened to others)  DO NOT do this if you’re on mac!!!!

disable your FeaturedItems folder. this prevents the game from generating a fuckton of store thumbnails you’ll never look at. follow this tutorial or just set the folder to be read only.

turn off the following in your game settings: shop mode, interactive loading screens, and online features. i also recommend turning off story progression and memories and using mods to handle these instead.

edit your GraphicsRules.sgr. this will help your game load textures faster. (it also helps how fast your sims change their clothes!) do it yourself by following these tutorials ( 1 + 2 ) or download avian’s graphics fix (v1.69) (v1.67). i recommend doing the latter more than doing it yourself!

modding your game: a quick crash course

yeah, i know most people know how to download and install custom content + mods, but this is still good to give a read for managing your sims 3 cc!

first, you’ll need a mods folder because ts3 won’t generate one by itself. i recommend you download this framework and follow MTS’ guide to setting it up. it comes with a nifty little no intro video mod!

use the compressorizer redux. you can extract it wherever you’d like, just make sure to keep all its files in the same folder. this program is pretty self-explanatory, it compresses .package and .sims3pack files. to use it, click Add Files to List, select the folder with your files (you can do this multiple times), and click GO! now, just let it do its thing! it may take a while to process everything if you have big files, but you’ll get a pop up saying how many MBs you saved when it’s done. you can also use decrapify mode on .sims3packs (useful for store content!)

i recommend downloading Delphy’s Sims3Pack Extractor. i avoid using the game launcher to manage my cc at all costs, and this tool is useful for extracting .package files from .sims3pack files. follow this tutorial to use it!

Delphy’s Dashboard Tool is also useful for finding any broken, duplicate, or conflicting cc. i don’t recommend using the fix all problems option, do it yourself instead to make sure you don’t delete anything you want to keep.

renaming cc files can also help with lag. follow this tutorial!

you can also merge your package files to help with lag and load times using this tutorial. i don’t do this personally, but my mods folder is pretty small too.

note: the game launcher can only load 500 .sims3pack files at a time. only use the launcher to install absolutely necessary items!

to help reduce lag and load times, you can delete everything in your DCBackup folder (Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3/DCBackup) EXCEPT for ccmerged.package. DO NOT delete ccmerged, it has all the cc installed through the launcher. (ps. you can safely use the compressorizer to compress your ccmerged file!)

final tip: try to control the amount of cc you have installed. i’ve noticed that the game takes a lot longer to load when my mods folder starts to reach a Gb. my mods folder is currently 368Mb, and it takes around 5 minutes to load any saves.

helpful mods for your game

the ETERNAL must have: nraas’ mastercontroller. you’ll need this to run all nraas mods! also be sure to grab overwatch and errortrap while you’re at it! these catch and clean any errors that happen in your game. i also recommend register and traffic.

no (or fewer) auto memories is SUPER useful for controlling memories in the game and helps with game performance. it’s super customizable!

ellacharmed’s world fixes. not really a traditional mod, but this helps with routing and camera control! note: don’t use these on preexisting saves! some lots have been moved and there will be little gaps in the world with preexisting saves.

routing fixes for schools + other lots. be sure to use nraas to reset your school lot after installing!

interaction on sloped terrain. this is mostly just a sanity saver, but very useful!

finally, i recommend grabbing awesome mod. it has a bunch of fixes and is very customizable!

reducing save game bloat

a.k.a. the steps i go through to make sure that my game loads relatively fast and runs with minimal lag. 

if i’ve taken any screenshots the last time i played the game, i move those out of ts3′s screenshots folder and into a separate folder.

i delete all generated cache files. see the tips section above for more info

i run kuree’s save cleaner on the save i’m planning on playing. if the latest version (2.1) doesn’t open/work, try using v1.1 instead. you can also do this manually, though i don’t recommend it for the sake of your sanity.

every couple of in-game weeks in a save i run a total reset on the world i’m playing in. this is done through nraas mastercontroller. click on your city hall from map view>nraas>mastercontroller>total reset

tip: to help prevent your saves from corrupting, use save as and keep multiple versions of your save. for example, i have 3 versions of my lepacy save. this way, if a save does corrupt, you have a backup! 

misc. ways to reduce lag

don’t run the game with all packs enabled. it’s going to murder your game. only run with packs you know you’ll use. you can also refer to this masterpost for bgc items if you only want certain items from a pack.

don’t keep tons of stuff in your sim’s inventory. use the fridge to keep fish and harvestables instead.

if your sim has the collection helper LTR in their inventory, make sure you have it set to none when you’re not using it.

i recommend downloading simborg’s CAS hiders, ILTS’ CAS Rehaul, and/or sweetdevil-sims’ CAS hiders to reduce CAS load times.

change CAS’ catalogs to show in compact form using nraas mastercontroller. select a sim>nraas>mastercontroller>settings>CAS and look for show in compact form options and set each to true

nona’s no limos mod can help nraas overwatch’s nightly clean up

make sure to turn off any build/buy cheats you activated when you go back into live mode. (even if it’s just to save)

if you’re using CAS a lot in a play session, it’s a good idea to quit to desktop and reload the game every once in a while

try to avoid saving presets and CASt swatches

disconnect from the internet. i don’t do this often because i usually have spotify or carl’s sims 3 guide open alongside ts3.

Ah, so art and fumblr. Here’s the thing; 99% of the art uploaded to this site goes through a TERRIBLE compression when viewed on the mobile app. It shows up fine (mostly) when viewed on desktop, but I know I get screwed when it comes to the app. I usually use an A4 size canvas with my art and the quality is so awful unless you click on it...which I don’t think many people do. Otherwise, it is fuzzy and I normally put something like “Click for better quality” to show that it’s fumblr and not the piece I uploaded.

In between a busy schedule of missions and attending some family events, Itachi really does have to go to great lengths to make sure that you and him have special days set aside to basically catch up and have some alone time, away from the hassle of being a ninja. 

However, the times in between those days can be a bit… Lonely. He tries his hardest to see you at least once a day if he can, even if it’s just for a few minutes before he goes off on yet another mission. If it’s going to be a particularly long one and he knows he won’t be back for some time, he will spend the previous night with you to make up for the upcoming loss of contact. 

Itachi will often treat you to restaurants, as dining with you is one of his favorite type of dates. It’s calming, allows you two to talk, and he genuinely enjoys the feelings of soothing cafes and restaurants. After you two pick a place you like among all the other places, dining there when he comes home after a long mission becomes a type of tradition. You also visit it whenever you’re really in the mood to, and it gets to the point where the waiter knows your usual orders and if you or Itachi arrive solo he’ll ask, ‘No ___?’ or vise versa.

Though he isn’t a huge fan of PDA, Itachi likes showing you affection in what little ways he’s comfortable with. Maybe not smooching in public or wrapping himself around you, be will hold your hand or link your arms as you walk together. He also likes to show you subtle affections, such as gently touching your hair or upper back should you be sitting or when you walk by.

Now, he doesn’t do this often but he enjoys humming. You have to catch him in a really calm, happy mood but he will sometimes just softly hum to whatever melody is stuck in his head. Maybe it’s something a child was singing as they walked by, maybe it’s a tune he heard years ago that just stuck with him. More often than not Itachi doesn’t even notice he’s doing it until you or someone else mentions it. On very rare (but joyous) occasion, you may find yourself lulled to sleep at night to the sound of Itachi humming something his mother used to sing to him when he was younger.

Sasuke

A lot of your softer times with Sasuke will end up being spent in calmness, and will mostly revolve around the two of you being around one another in comfortable, understanding silences. One of his favorite past times with you is sitting outside or by an open window, enjoying the soft breeze while you both read. He likes the times when you two can just enjoy one another’s presence without having to feel like you’re supposed to be doing something more.

One of his other favorite things to do with you is plan evening walks that usually follow along the outskirts of Konoha. He enjoys the scenery of the setting sun and the feeling of the day coming to an end, plus he likes to hold your hand and allowing you talk to him about your day or whatever he missed out on while he was away on a mission. He usually doesn’t have anything to add himself, so it’s mostly just you going on and him responding whenever he sees fit, since he prefers to listen anyways.

If you need the extra help, Sasuke will also aid in helping you train. He won’t go super easy on you because you’re supposed to be improving, but he also definitely won’t go all out. Sasuke’s a pretty powerful ninja and the last thing he wants to do is injure you when his original intent was to help. If he’s tired during some particular days, he’ll watch your techniques and give you pointers (but be wary, sometimes he can be overly blunt. You being his partner doesn’t save you from being roasted on your poor style.)

When ever he goes away for missions that end up being lengthy, he makes sure to send letters back and forth when he’s able to so he can keep at least some sort of communication going. When he returns home after said long missions he usually brings back small trinkets he came across on his journey, rather it be a gem he found or some item he thought you might like. 

Upon arriving home and giving you your gift, Sasuke turns a little bit more softer than usual. Maybe it’s because he missed you or maybe it’s because the exhaustion is kicking in now that he’s back at his house but he’ll hold you a little tighter, cuddling against you while you both lay down and tell you he missed you while he was away.

Though he’s a bit more of a recluse than some other people, there are times where you and Sasuke will enjoy days out attending whatever fairs Konoha is holding. Though he prefers to avoid the larger ones he has no issue in going to smaller ones if it makes you happy. Plus it allows him to see his friends and make small talk about whatever they’ve been doing lately.
