I think the biggest takeaway from the finale is that the show purposely did not show us everything which I’m fine with. But also I can see people’s frustration because things aren’t exact like the books or headcanons not being what you were expecting and you can be or feel disappointed. Imo the episode could have been longer to help pacing but that’s just me.
Am I curious as to why we didn’t get to see Daniel’s transformation and the possible 1-2 year gap? Hell yeah! “Born out of spite” LOUIS WERE YOU THERE? (I can see them going down that path of oh I get back at Louis, I’m gonna turn Daniel and he can suffer along but also be a coward and hide after doing so but I can also see Louis believing that if Armand had been keeping himself closed off from Louis, which fair, and Daniel reaching out) okay so if they mentioned Armand made Daniel out of love, affection and loneliness, there would be a problem with that answer too. COS WE HAVEN’T SEEN THAT. THIS SHOW HAS DELIBERATELY CUT/NOT SHOWN US EVERYTHING, ESPECIALLY IN DUBAI. I just think there’s way more, specifically post it. Did the chase happen then or ANOTHER when Daniel went home (again that apartment layout, why that ceiling and many many lamps?) Again, the show doesn’t show or say things just to say it. I think there’s always more to what’s going on and it’ll pay off in the end. I guess you just don’t build up stuff here and there in S1 and then toss it aside.
On the other hand, I liked how emotional everything else seemed to be than the books. It’s so.. passive cos Louis is soooooo boring in the books and closed off so his explosive respond to Armand lying? Better. His reunion with Lestat? Much better.
Oh I also asked my oracle cards if RJ is just trolling/repeating what has been said in the episode and I’m laughing so hard. Ahh my guides are funny.
Otherwise I enjoyed the finale, to me it’s just being on a ride into a world where everyone is fucked up and it’s great. I’m here for S3, I’m excited. Things can change , writing and ideas can change but I think RJ trolls, he’s good at that (I’m also in fnaf so trolling is a big thing there).

Reminder that it's still mainly kids on Tiktok, because I feel like people can be a bit too hostile toward that userbase sometimes. Yes the app itself is kind of evil and is fucking up everyones attention spans but it's not the kids fault that this is the version of the internet they are growing up with. Idk just, gentle reminder that they're just kids.
And, actually, related side note- Reminder that you interact with children on all social media platforms, and when you see a weird, wrong, bad, etc. opinion somewhere, it's possible and often likely that they're a misinformed kid.

eddie getting off on sex being messyyyyy and a little bit gross. gobs of spit passed back and forth between mouths and sweat dripping on each other. loads left inside so he can feel it the next time he fucks in and see it leaking out. loving how much buck comes. smearing it into his skin. using way too much lube and talking right up close to buck's ear about how wet he is. shoving fingers in buck's mouth to get him drooling all over his chin and down eddie's wrist.

I got bitched out once for "erasing someone's experience" because they said (of a book I liked but they didn't) "well, I think it's an abusive narrative because it reminds me of my own relationship that was abusive and gave me PTSD--"
And I said, "well I don't, because the relationship in the story makes both of the fictional characters happier and better than they were, and that is definitely not what abuse does. Yes he tries to control her at first but she sets him straight and they're fine now."
Anyhow, after the argument that I was erasing someone's experience I just wanted to scream.
I also have PTSD. PTSD does not make me better at spotting abuse or other dangerous situations. If it did, it would be a superpower, not a disorder.
PTSD makes me react weirdly and feel unsafe in situations where I am not actually unsafe at all. It has caused me to run out of a room because of a song that came on the radio. (No I will not say which one, do not ask.) It has caused other people to react violently in situations where people were genuinely trying to help them. It makes people avoid taking risks because they're afraid that they will be triggered.
The whole reason you get help for PTSD is because it fucks up your view of the world and of other interactions and situations.
You don't need to have triggers to not want to watch a rape scene. It is perfectly understandable why someone would just not want to watch that even if they've never personally suffered a sexual harm. And I'm all in favour of tags and content labels.
The fact that some topics are unpleasant and that people who have been hurt in the past or just dislike the type of content may wish to avoid that type of content is an argument for content labelling, NOT censorship. And having triggers does not make you wise. It means you have trauma, not that you know what's best for everyone else.

I NEED people to realize that Severance is a beautifully shot show!! I feel like people miss this when they're just seeing square gifs of the characters in business suits... The actual show has a wide aspect ratio and everything in the frame - the shot composition, lighting, color grading, even the blocking of the characters - is SO carefully considered.

Not to spiral too much but I feel like the more AI infiltrates our everyday consciousness, the more crucial it is to appreciate and to be able to identify the human creative elements in the art we encounter. The craftspeople who make this show are making really intentional visual choices that enhance the story and the sense of drama that we feel watching it! TV shows are made by artists and they are putting their ideas into the frame on purpose in order to communicate with you, the viewer! <3

Obviously every actor makes their own choices and Patti's Norma (at least in the Sydmonton festival version) feels much softer than Gloria Swanson's but there are these brief moments were they seem to meet and I find them just *STUNNING*

Concept: a production of the Hobbit where, for the Riddles In The Dark scene, Bilbo is alone on stage in a dim spotlight. The stage is foggy, and the fog pours over the edge of the stage and into the first couple rows. And as Bilbo begins his monologue, Gollum enters silently from the back of the theatre.
Normally I hate Actor In The Audience bits, but hear me out: Gollum is absolutely silent. He doesn't interact with the audience, he doesn't make a noise, because he is hunting. Half crouch, half crawl. Animalistic. Audience members catch him out of the corner of their eye and it's unsettling. Almost a jump scare.
And Bilbo's monologue- it's a suggestion. It's not important to reach the end, and both the Bilbo and Gollum actors know it. It's Gollum that interrupts at the most opportune time (different in each performance), catching the sweet spot before the front half of the theatre knows he's there, and before the back half have given way to a small laugh to ease themselves.
"What is it, precious?"
And Bilbo leaps out of his skin, trips, and falls backward- and seizes the audience's laughter for himself.
Presenting Gollum onstage is all about control. The moment something is out of balance, he is comedic, and the scene has failed.
Make Gollum eerie and uncanny. Put the audience into the scene with Bilbo. Scare them. And build from there.

Hoffman grasping onto Angelina’s hand while hysterical vs taking Strahm’s hand with a smile… Much to think about
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I find his reaction to each of their mangled corpses really interesting and it highlights his development for the worse. When he sees Angelina he’s distraught, incoherent, overcome with a cocktail of grief and rage. Compare this to how he reacts to Strahm’s crushed body: he’s nonplussed, if not overjoyed, upon seeing his adversary’s demise.
It shows his desensitization to violence and his death of humanity. Even when watching Seth’s death, there is conflict on his face. He’s doesn’t like the brutality but can’t bring himself to look away.
Yet both of them result in the same thing, they both push Hoffman to do things he never thought he could. Angelina’s driving him to kill Seth and Strahm’s leading him to comitting justiceless killings, no longer bound by Jigsaw’s rules.

you know it's so crazy that people judge defense attorneys so harshly, like everyone at my job [law firm] loves Luigi's defense counsel until they find out that counsel also represents Diddy. but like...that's the whole point of defense counsel. i'm not an attorney but when I imagine being a defense attorney I imagine it as recognizing that being charged with a crime, no matter what it is, does not remove your humanity or mean you don't get to have rights like other people. in fact only by guaranteeing those rights to everyone--only by having defense attorneys!!!--can we ensure that people have rights at all. I truly believe this.

Bro this is wild the craziest part isn’t even that copying it’s the persons reaction to being caught damn
i had her blocked when i first found out so i went to check and oh my lord. i understand why some people don’t follow 18-19 year olds on here bc we’re immature but this takes the cake 😭
i don’t understand what there is to debate over. it’s not as if she lifted a few words or phrases here and there it’s entire MANNERISMS. that takes a lot more dedication than lazily pasting a bunch of text and claiming it’s your own so i have a feeling she’s smart enough to know what she did and is upset at the backlash once sweetpea made the post on her blog. the backlash is all people disgusted by plagiarism, not her racial identity, english skills, weight or anything else. i think she mentioned people making headcanons?? about her but i haven’t been keeping up w that so i don’t know.
also not to be self-centered but inspiration is literally how i started writing fic and i did so by crediting the author + letting them know before i posted so it’s not like you’re not allowed to take inspo, just don’t blatantly copy and then half-ass the credit after you admit to it in dms maybe?? 😭 it’s disrespectful. i wonder how the people defending her would feel if someone did the same to them. it hurts a lot more when it’s years of YOUR personal experiences and hours of struggle getting lifted for likes w/o any credit.
i’m just loud and mad LMAO i shouldn’t say too much about it bc i’m not directly involved but i’ve been mutuals w sweetpea for years now and besides her insane writing skills, she’s never not been gracious w the people who plagiarize her like i’d be ON THE NEWS if i were in her shoes. most reactions i’ve seen though are super supportive for her though, so thank you everyone for sticking up for writers ❤️ we wouldn’t be here without you guys!!

thank @lostyesterday for tagging me in a WIP game, only... at the moment I have just one WIP loosely called "post-canon B7 that's prequel to the other long fic I wrote". If I'm talking about a scenario you can be sure im talking about this fic, so between this and having remade the blog I don't know if I'd get any asks about it lol. However I could talk about it forever, so that's what I'm going to do. If (and that's a big if!) I actually write it, it's probably going to be the biggest, and likely also the last, of my Trek projects.
Concept: B'Elanna and Seven unexpectedly reunite post-canon when they're both at the lowest points in their lives (post-divorce, post-Icheb dying). Planet-bound without their own means of transportation, they're both hired by the Fenris Rangers to refurbish old starships in a post-synth ban world where starships are now scarce, but only long enough until they can refurbish shuttles of their own and finally be able to leave the surface of Fenris. Working together though brings back memories of a life that feels now so much better than all the regrets B'Elanna and Seven have accumulated since their return to the AQ... and even if there are for both chances to radically alter their life in ways that would bring them closer to everything they've always wanted (acceptance and community—the biggest representative of this being a Klingon OC I've been developing), their common past on Voyager and wounded disillusionment about the Federation is as much an inescapable gravity well as the surface of Fenris.
Problems I'm having:
there's a huge amount of research, in several fields, that I'd have to do. The more time passes the more I realize that I don't know how to do research properly and even if I've known for a long time that I needed said research I haven't really started because I'm very scared I'll get everything wrong (it's part of the reason why I've been thinking about quitting writing, or at the very least not posting my creative output online any longer. I am bad at the basics of writing)
while I have a pretty definite idea of what I want to say with this fic, the plot is uh... pretty vague beside a few events I am fairly sure of. The rest is quite literally up in the air. I suppose if I knew how to "immerse myself in the research" I would get more inspiration but again, see above
with no fixed deadlines I just won't start anything. I've been thinking about joining events like the femslash big bang 2025 to give myself a fighting chance at finishing this but there are plot points (ie a significant m/f relationship) that disqualifies this project, I think. Plus, a single deadline won't help with it, I'd need a roadmap, but who's ever going to hold me accountable except myself? and I know that asshole and she's flaky as hell
there are a few scenes that are crystal clear in my head but I'm afraid that if I write them down first I will lose any interest I have in connecting them through the larger plot
I'd have to actually buy a Scrivener license because I plotted the whole thing out on there last summer (which was still when I thought I could write this prequel like I'd written the first fic in 2023. silly me) and now the trial period has expired 💀💀💀
what would help immensely is if I found someone who will both yell at me when I need to do better and encourage me when I feel down but I've been very reluctant to ask anyone because I don't know who would even like the concept of this fic except myself. Hell the whole point is that B'Elanna and Seven are never in a relationship throughout, much less at the end of it, even though of course they're fully in each other's head. It's just... too much to ask anyone to share in all this mess, I think.

so the man in the moon is so painfully PAINFULLY canon in epic and the only reason he wasn't in the film adaptation was studio reasons but i assure you HE IS RIGHT THERE IN THE BOOK.
Tumblr media
BRIGHT AS DAY. MAN IN THE MOON. GUARDIANS OF CHILDHOOD. IT'S ALL CONNECTED.
Tumblr media
THAT MEANS THE GUARDIANS MIGHT KNOW ABOUT MOONHAVEN AND WATCH OVER THE CHILDREN THERE BECAUSE THE OATH DOESN'T SPECIFY HUMAN CHILDREN-- IT'S ALL THE CHILDREN OF THE EARTH.

I don't want to stir any pots.
I really don't...
But...
I think Hagakure looks great sans invisibility:
Tumblr media
She's gorg!
I'm seeing younger fans go ballistic about this in a very negative way.
First of all, she's 25 in this, right? I know you keep thinking of her as 15, but this is a time skip, people.
Not that it really matters because, Second, it's just a bikini folks. A bikini with a full coverage top. This is not scandalous. It's. Just. A. Bikini.
I sincerely hope you're not shaming the women in your life into thinking that wearing a bikini makes them a whore.
Because it sounds like your tone implies that.
Check yourself.
Finally, We do all remember the girl was naked most of the time, right? Because she didn't have a costume that hid her? She wore gloves and boots to... I don't know... Be "visible" to her comrades? So wearing something is, uh, conservative for her? Ha!
Don't get upset at a male mangaka for creating a character comfortable in her skin.
This isn't even remotely close to overt sexualization of women in anime.
She looks great.
Actually, she kind of looks like a pro wrestler!
RAWR!
