(by the way, i DO see most of those pinterest reposts. so if you think you’re being sneaky about it, you’re not. i’ve probably left a passive aggressive comment on it before)

yes, you can use my art for edits. but PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE give credit. i’ve seen WAY too many edits that are made using exclusively my art and still don’t credit me. “i don’t know the artists” or “there’s too many people to credit” is not an excuse. reverse image searching is very easy.

this includes edits posted to youtube, tiktok, pinterest, instagram, all of it. CREDIT ME. i don’t want to see another pinterest edit made solely with my art with the caption “fintan fanart is so good” and not see my username anywhere in the post </3

collage type edits are fine (to an extent). just make sure it’s obvious that there was effort put into it and that you didn’t just slap a bunch of pictures on a random background. no, the ones you can make on pinterest do NOT count. those are always made with links to reposted art so they still feel disrespectful. plus they don’t really take that much effort (and these people never credit me in the description anyway)

meme posts/edits where you use my art as an icon for a character or whatever is fine. (just make sure to credit me for anything you use my art in. this is the main thing)

those “whisper” type posts where it’s just text over an image of my art don’t count as edits. in fact, it’s almost worse than a straight up repost imo. i don’t want my art used as just a background for something someone else has to say. if you want to make a text post, go on tumblr or something.

referencing is totally fine. that’s how artists learn! it’s very obvious to tell the difference between someone referencing and someone directly tracing my art. you don’t need to credit me for this ofc, unless you’re like redrawing one of my pieces (or drawing a scene from a fic i’ve written or something, which is also totally fine) or it looks a bit too obvious (but pose theft & color theft are not real things btw. so don’t worry about that nonsense)

I get that Keefe is hesitant to be buddies with Alvar, and I hate that I kinda know it's gonna happen anyway

Alvar is acting ... so not Alvar. I get that he's had a change of perspective, but it almost seems like he's completely not who he used to be?? Idk, it just feels inconsistent or ... off

Oh wow, Alvar's got his ability back! Kind of a surprise, kind of not. What repercussions are incoming??

Yeah, Keefe has a right to be upset about that.

Wait, I almost can't keep this straight. So Alvar decides what's worth living for is making a life you care about, and he's fine being done with fancy abilities and all that. And yet when Keefe partially heals him, suddenly he cares a whole lot about his ability again. Either he's just really conflicted or something's not right.

Also, what feels mostly wrong is that, amid all of Alvar's conflictedness, there's just ... no thoughts of going back to being a "bad guy"?? How is he suddenly just so super cemented as a Good Guy now?

Alvar does kinda treat Keefe the way he needs to be treated tho, tbh. It's good that he makes him face himself and share his thoughts.

That healing was intense. A little confusing and overwhelming? I want to learn more about how Keefe's new ability works, and what it's for/meant for, because honestly I'm confused right now.

The scene at the cemetery is kinda sweet. 😊 Keefe needs to stop blaming himself tho.

I love the interaction with Eleanor? It's so weird and bizarre, and they're both so confused by each other. I admittedly want more answers tho. (I think if there's any future interactions between humans and elves in the future, maybe Eleanor will be involved.)

I loved the "What *are* you??" 😄😄

Cool, we get to see that part from Stellarlune in Keefe's POV. (Also, I admire the dedication on Shannon's part to apparently go line by line with the Stellarlune account.)

But also! Oh boy, oh no!! Knowing that Alvar was hiding in there the whole time changes the scene *entirely*!

The last chat with Keefe and Alvar was kinda bittersweet. 😐 Kinda made me feel bad for Alvar, having to find his place all over again.

Also, I get that feeling betrayed/rejected by everyone and almost dying can change a person, but the Alvar arc still seems weird. Like, Alvar on the surface may have been a friendly family oriented guy in the early books, but beneath that, he never was just a chill guy. He was always looking for something, working for something, scheming, striving to prove himself, seeking revenge, his family "legacy", etc. But now he really has no driving motivation or life goal? Except surviving and ... pancakes?? Can you really just swap out a life motivation with pancakes?? Idk, Alvar is too chill now.

Also: Sure he's had a change in perspective and almost died and all that, but he has a much more balanced and healthy viewpoint than he's had time to heal from all his trauma and drama. He's kind of a mirror for Keefe, right? How did he just skip ahead to therapist level of balance and insight so fast?

I suspect he might end up back in the Lost Cities though. Probably swoop in to save Keefe and co. or something.

The bonus chapter of the Sokeefe confession really didn't do a lot for me. I didn't think changing the POV made it much different. 🤷🏼‍♀️

in-depth opinions on keefe (trying to return you to your roots: getting asks about kotlc characters)?

I may be putting several additional feet in several additional fandoms but I promise y'all have me prisoner and can send me as many keeper asks as you want <3

I will say these are my personal, subjective opinions! Which do include a bit of bias (TLDR at bottom)

For years I was perfectly fine with Keefe; he's never been my favorite, but he had some funny lines and an engaging presence. Never failed to liven things up. This changed around end of Legacy/Stellarlune.

It's not because I don't ship sokeefe, but because I felt sokeefe's execution was rushed and overshadowing the rest of the story. Wasn't even a full book since Sophie broke up with Fitz and said she wasn't ready for a relationship, yet there they are. I think they, and we, deserved more time. (and yes, Keefe exists beyond shipping, but given how HUGE of a role it plays in his in-text and fandom presence, i find it relevant)

Of course that's not Keefe's fault, but seeing all the adoration for what I found lackluster kinda pavloved me into a general distaste. Especially when done at the expense at Fitz, one of my favorites. Which is unfair, but I did say there's bias. That's not to say I'm mid on Keefe because I love Fitz or that you can't love both, just that personally I'm a Fitz fan, and seeing Keefe used as a direct comparison to shoot him down doesn't endear him to me (and no, not everybody does this, but I've seen it enough to be impacted)

As for Keefe independently, he's following the path of Ro. Too many traits are staying stagnant and becoming repetitive, which is adulterating what I used to enjoy. The way he steamrolls everything--forcing hands to go to Ravagog in Neverseen, running away in Lodestar and refusing to listen, the mercadir incident in Nightfall, the going behind everyone's back thing in Legacy, the running away again, etc. At first it was annoying but interesting, but at this point it's like...we're still doing this?

The amount of time and effort Sophie has to expend managing Keefe is ridiculous. if we could just knock him out for like 2 months I think she could fix everything. it's gone from a facet of the plot's challenges to straight up nuisance like get tf out of her way !!

Others have mentioned this, but the privacy invasion and making others uncomfortable is another thing that I didn't mind at first but became annoying. A joke or overstep here or there is fine; no one's perfect, and if it moves the story forward, sure. But he's constantly pushing and isn't sorry. And the more it happens, the less I can stand the earlier instances. I do my pagethroughs and just get annoyed where I used to laugh

Is there an understandable explanation for several of these points? yes. how the hell would he know how to have healthy relationships and boundaries when he's been set such bad examples? However, he's also being consistently corrected and ignoring that advice. He's given pep talk after pep talk, has fight after fight, and yet nothing's changed.

Do I think he's beyond saving? No. I've spoken with a few people about this, but I think a key thing holding him back is Sophie's "I could never hate you" promise she keeps making. Because Sophie is the main (if not only) thing that matters to him, he's got a built in safety net for whatever stupid shit he pulls, and never faces the consequences he's really afraid of.

If we took that net away, if he faced her genuine distrust and anger and upset and her exclusion and her hatred--without the "but not really just give me some time" vibe. I think that'd do wonders and we'd actually get somewhere. And also it'd be vindicating to see; the nightfall healing center fight is one of my favorite scenes

TL;DR: In summary, I don't hate Keefe. He has potential and I've enjoyed him in the past. But currently the combination of him being used against Fitz, the lackluster execution of sokeefe (imo), the privacy invasion, and stagnation don't do it for me. His kind of character already isn't my niche, and that doesn't help. Does he have potential to become less annoying? yes! i hope he does for everyone's sakes. until then, mild distaste for him.

Fitz Vacker is overhated

I'm new on tumblr, but I can smell the possible haters a mile away. But uhhhh, other than that, I shall voice mt opinions! GET READY HATERS. HAHAHHAHAHA

No stellarlune spoilers. I haven't read that book yet. But spoilers for the other books I guess?

First point: Exile.

I wanted to tackle one of the earliest point people had. What happened in book 2. Watch everyone say "He had no right to be mad at Sophie!" While yes, Sophie ended up being the saving grace in the end, they still went through huge amounts of grief. Everyone handles grief differently. Fitz handled it with anger directed to the person his dad was with while he was in Exile. He thought she was to blame. Mind you, the Vackers held a PLANTING for Alden. They thought he would die. Imagine how devastating that would be for anyone? Needing to hold a funeral for YOUR OWN FATHER because he's in such a state where they don't think he'll survive. Fitz was experiencing the first stage of grief. He was grieving.

Point 2: The Anger Issues

While yes, Fitz may have a short temper, it isn't a good reason to hate on him. While yes, he handled some situations poorly, he's still 1) A child and 2) An elf. And lets be honest, he's only gotten mad a few times throughout the entire series.

Point 3: Sokeefe

Some of you people just hate on him for the sake of Keephie ☹️ DAWG IT'S A SHIP. AND IT'S ALREADY CANON APPARENTLY. GO AND REJOICE. LEAVE THE FITZ LOVERS TO CONSOLE FITZ ☹️😭

Point 4: The matchmaking thing

honestly? I do not know what to say here. I guess I just think the matchmaking in general is not for me. I guess people are mad at Fitz for wanting Sophie to reveal her bio mom so they can match? Idk bro. Why do yall hate him for this. I'm going out on a limb here, this is the result of Shannon wanting us to root for Keefe (FITZ DEFENDER 4 LIFE. YOU CAN NEVER CONVERT ME). I MEAN CMON. HE WAS OK WITH RUNNING AWAY AND JOINING EXILLUM AND ALMOST DYING TO PROTECT HIS FRIENDS. IN ONE BOOK. AND NOW HE'S SUDDENLY CHANGED?? (i saw this reason on Tumblr. Thank you to whoever made it. To really dissect this trio, I'll start with each duo and build up at the end.

Let's start with the relationship between Keefe and Fitz. They both met each other in a dark time; Fitz was never at school, and Keefe's only escape from his family was where he didn't have friends. They grew a trust with each other because they gave each other a chance. Keefe always values chances because his parents never gave him any. Fitz always values chances because his peers never gave him any. They grew to be best friends through this. But the problem was, they didn't know each other. How much of Keefe's own jealousy blinded him from the impurities of the Vackers? How much of the abuse Keefe experienced did Fitz pick up on? This eventually led to their downfall.

Keefe's betrayal arc is very important to me, especially Fitz's reaction. He didn't yell like normal. He cried. He cried because right when he needed his best friend the most, he proved that Fitz couldn't trust anyone. He proved to be just like Alvar. And from Keefe's perspective, he was just trying to help, but Fitz didn't know that. This tore their friendship apart. They couldn't trust each other. Fitz thought he knew his best friend better, but did he really know anyone? Keefe thought his best friend knew him better, but did anyone really know him?

But even throughout their distrust, you can see the remnants of their previous relationship. They obviously miss that relationship. You can see it when they make strained comments to each other and by their reactions to every insult. There's a lot of unresolved tension that, if diffused, could lead to a bond closer than ever before. Fitz and Keefe now understand the imperfections of each other's lives. They can rebuild a bond on knowing each other and remake their trust once they're able to discuss their flaws and failures.

Now, with Sophie and Fitz, they've had an entirely different relationship. Sophie started out looking up to Fitz. He was this handsome guy who saved her, who made her feel like she belonged. Her first friend. And Fitz looked up to her, too. He looked up to this beautifully brave girl who never backed down. They did like each other, and I think between their trusting cognate bond and their growing shared trauma, they really did love each other. In a lot of situations, they turned to each other before anyone else. They've been able to rely on each other. The problem when they got together is that they didn't seem to fit like that, like two intricately designed puzzle pieces that just didn't go together. Fitz still had terrible emotional control at the time, and Sophie was uncomfortable with the situation and didn't go to him as much. They had a fight where they both were equally wrong, and they just couldn't do it.

In Stellarlune, when Sophie knows their relationship is too important to keep it a secret, she had to tell Fitz about her and Keefe. And he was hurt because he thought, yet again, that he knew one of his best friends and was so off. But he respected the decision, choosing to stay clear of them when they're together but still checking on both of them. And that's really where we get our trio. Because we know that Sophie and Keefe care about each other. They spent years turning to each other out of support and falling for each other. They were a long time coming. A long time of building a trust in knowing each other. They all love each other, but now in different ways. Sophie and Keefe love each other in a romantic way, while they love Fitz and Fitz loves them in a friendship way. Or at least I want him to and think he will eventually. The three of them have been friends for years and gone through some psychologically and physically horrific things, yet they still love each other. And I think the display of both romantic and platonic love between the three of them is absolutely beautiful.

i propose to you: not a relationship, but the vacker family falling apart and the way they became a huge subject of gossip in the lost cities. when alden’s mind broke, while fitz had turned to anger biana became depressed, and i think this song could relate to that as well. the whole part of “guess who we ran into at the shops” feels very much like conversations others would have about the vackers at the time and when alvar betrayed them. “soon they’ll go home to their [brothers], smug cause they know they can trust him.” and i think at the end of the day when all of it happened biana was just young and betrayed and lost, because she didn’t see it coming or understand why (who did?) “the deflation of our dreaming, leaving me bereft and reeling” “i can’t pretend like i understand, how did it end?”

So there's this girl in my grade; I've known her since last year, but I've never really talked to her that much, not more than a few sentences.

BUT today!! today me and my friend were talking about kotlc and then she (the girl, let's call her K), overheard and K's like "wait r you talking about keeper of the lost cities??" and then my friends like "yep!" (btw K and my friend, lets call Z, are friends already), and then she says "I LOVE that series!"

and so me being obsessed with the series goes "AHH YES ANOTHER FAN" (mostly internally... mostly-) we 3 talk a little bit and stuff, etc etc. but I have so many questions i need to ask, and the first one is "what are your ships??" and she says "sokeefe, obvisouly"

Then we take a pause(we were in the lunch line so there was a pause + the principal was there soo), and then me and Z go back to her and I ask her if she likes Tam

She hesitates for a little bit. Not for like, a second, but like for 5. She starts to say "he's okay, i guess" and stuff like that So I get the logical reaction and am about to have a heart attack,

BUT.

BUT.

The reason I'm not in the hospital right now is because she said ONE THING that literally saved everything (for me at least)

"I do like Tiana though!!"

and I literally fall to my knees and i cheer silently to Z (she's just laughing her butt off inside lol)

but anyways

lets go to my history cuz K's in my history class, and i'm just waiting for her, so i speed walk to her, trying not to look too eager (i think i failed tbh- no defo failed) and i'm trying to make conversation and not look to eager

eventually i go back to keeper and i ask her again to be sure that she likes tam and this time, no hesitation, she says YES with a confident nod, "i like tam, yes :D"

so im like 'okay good thats really good'' and then i say "so what about dex?"

(TW for any dex lovers i am so sorry.)

then she hesitates. not for a second, not for 5, but like for 15. FIFTHTEEN. and she says "...not really??"

and im like... i might have another heart attack-

next she says "he's okay, but i don't really like how he and sophie interacted in the first book..." and i nod, because respectfully, it was a bit awkward there (and because im trying not to scream)

BUT she does agree that Dex needs more page time.

And then the teacher is like 'time to get started' and that ends the conversation etc etc

Unpopular kotlc opinion - Sophie didn’t really consider Keefe as a potential love interest until midway through the series. I love Sokeefe as much as the next person, but girlypop was OBSESSED with Fitz for the first few books

Favourite Greek god/goddess - Athena, hands down. She’s terrible, I love her so much. As for god, I’m partial to Hades - he’s just a chill guy

Favourite season of Stranger Things - Three (3) for the Scoops Troop subplot and the Scoops Troop subplot alone (save me platonic stobin, platonic stobin, platonic stobin save me)
